I’m rewatching Haikyuu and I’m gonna start crying

I dunno if I can begin to explain how much of a ship purist I am for Haikyuu. Each character has a ship. That is their one true love and I will take no notes. I will avoid any fic that includes anything other than them, and I will refuse to acknowledge their existence.

Unless I find cute art, that gets a like and the occasional praising comment.

But under almost all other circumstances, no changes made. I will not budge on this.

Tanaka alone

are all interchangeable and I will take them. However otherwise, I have a very strict little list of ships that I will read fanfic about, otherwise, out of my sight!

Tehe but no really I don’t have a problem with most ships, I just don’t enjoy them as much, especially as a sucker for childhood friends to lovers, there are some ships that tear Iwaoi, Tsukiyama, or Kuroken apart that I simply cannot look beyond. Like yes I know they’re best friends, but they’re actually so much more than that to me and I will hear nothing more.

And I’m AWARE that most of my ships are the most common but I like to believe that it’s because they make a lot of sense. Plus, this way, Everyone’s got someone they have chemistry with, when it gets mixed up some characters end up alone and I simply cannot do that to them.

(Also OsaSuna/OsaSunaKomo are both good. It’s like adding a little egg to your ramen, it doesn’t technically change the dish but it drastically changes the flavor.)

Karasuno takes a cooking class!

Daichi and Suga: do their best. Daichi continuously wonders how they always manage to ruin whatever dish they make. Suga knows why. He loves going to the classes with Daichi so he keeps messing up the recipe on purpose so they have to go back and keep taking classes.

Asahi and Noya: do a pretty good job! They work together nicely and try their best to make everything correctly. Noya has to repress his urge to improvise parts of the dish because he knows Asahi will be sad if all their hard work is wasted. By the end of the hour they have a few containers to leave with and have later. They try to take a lot of classes all over the world because they both love so many different kinds of food.

Tanaka and Ennoshita: both play to their strength throughout the class. Tanaka isn’t the best with anything that gets very hot. He’s burned himself accidentally countless times. Ennoshita is hopeless with chopping and knives in general. He’s accidentally cut himself countless times. So Tanaka does any cutting and Ennoshita does the cooking part. They make it work and have some fun with it.

Kinoshita and Narita: are both really good cooks. Kinoshita’s mom was a firm believer that everyone should be able to take care of themselves on their own once they grow up so she started to teach Hisashi from an early age. He enjoyed the time immensely and loves to share the fun at cooking classes with his friends. Narita just loves the process of cooking. He would help his dad make food a lot at home since he was little. All their other friends love whenever they make extra food because it’s always delicious.

Kageyama and Hinata: are absolute disasters which is a surprise to no one. They really can not explain how it went from slowly cutting celery to the oven is on fire and everything is burnt. They always force themselves to eat whatever they made and swear it’s “Not that bad Tsukishima shut up! Stop laughing!” They are banned from two local cooking classes and that number will likely only grow.

Tsukishima and Yamaguchi: prefer baking but will go to the occasional cooking class just to prove they’re better at it than the freak twins. They manage to make it almost perfectly during the class but fail miserably when they try it again without the teacher’s guidance.

Yachi and Kiyoko: have a pretty good system. Yachi spends most of the class worried that she’ll do it wrong and Kiyoko ends up doing most of the work. Yachi always feels bad afterwards so she bakes something sweet for dessert. They end up remaking the dish a few times with Yachi’s dessert as well and it always ends up being really good.

Ukai and Takeda: only took one class as a joke because someone gave Grandpa Ukai a coupon but honestly didn’t do too bad. Ukai brought Takeda in order to stop the coupon gifter from setting him up with her free granddaughter (who was happy to not have to go). They both remember how to make the dish and occasionally bring some to one another for lunch as a surprise.

thinking about the hq characters whenever I listen to the Warriors album that came out recently (I actually really like it - I watched the film as a kid when I shouldn't have and was so scared of it that this album has healed that fear a little - the bottle clinking is still the soundtrack for my nightmares though).

yes I have daydreamed the entire story, yes you will see snippets of it if this stays latched on my brain for long enough. for now, enjoy my match-ups of hq characters to the main gang members because I have been thinking non-stop about how easy it is to transfer their personalities over since the album was released. if you know nothing about The Warriors (book, film, or album), this will probs not make much sense but enjoy anyways!

The Gramercy Riffs = Aoba Johsai

Oikawa is absolutely Cyrus who believes in everyone to come together for a common dream (and in turn they build a belief in him). Iwaizumi is Masai and grieves so hopelessly for Oikawa. Aside from the devastating iwaoi, it's funny on a meta-level to imagine Oikawa saying "can you dig it?" when thinking about his serves like no they can't dig it babe !!! But we love you king

The Warriors = Karasuno

Ofc Karasuno are the stars of this daydream. Daichi is Cleon who helps Iwaizumi find the killer gang, obviously renamed Odysseus because that man just wants to go home (although he would defo believe in Oikawa's ideals and want to set things right, even at the expense of himself). Kageyama is his right hand man, Swan (renamed King ofc), and leads the gang back home - imagining Kageyama saying that he has a gang loyal to him makes me want to cry when thinking about hq, trust me and listen to the album whilst imagining Kageyama as Swan. It will change your life.

Suga is Cochise (renamed Polaris/Sirius bc symbolism), Asahi is Rembrandt, Noya is Ajax (we love a fighter who refuses to back down from a challenge), Tanaka is Cowboy (ofc he gives in to the Sirens), Tsukishima is Vermin/Snow (renamed to idk something like Clock bc he tsks a lot and it sounds like ticking), Yamaguchi is Fox and I cry every time I think about him as Fox (currently listening to that song and sniffling as I type). Hinata absolutely is Mercy (renamed Sunshine or something) and I cannot listen to A Light Or Somethin' without thinking about kagehina. They like and want each other instantly but can't express that in the 'right' way !! Kageyama lifting Hinata's face when he's embarrassed being seen by others and then kissing him??? Oh. oh the humanity.

The Rogues (killer gang) = Shiratorizawa or Johzenji

Ahhh the killers (no, not Mr Brightside). I love Luther's character because he is so unhinged for little reason which is why Tendou springs to mind BUT I cannot see Tendou in this. So my mind goes to Terushima (likes fun and pushes boundaries => obvs transfers to being a maniacal villain who kills for no reason (jk)).

The Hurricanes = Nekoma

I just love the idea of these guys acting as alley cats on skates. that is very funny to me. Also: Kenma on skates?? I love that visual. I fully believe he would hate it and either be the only one in the gang to walk or is dragged around by a leash so someone pulls him along on the skates OR Kuroo straight up carries him. Anyways: Kuroo is the gang leader, Kenma is the one who convinces them to let the Crows go because he uses one of his many braincells to realise that they absolutely didn't kill Cyrus (unlike many others in this story).

The Furies = Fukurodani

If you haven't listened to the song about them, please do. I get chills every time - they only come out at night?? Oh yes please, the ideas are flowing. These are the Night Owls with metal bats and painted faces. Bokuto is the leader but I can't imagine him to be willingly silent in a gang hmmm.

The Orphans = Inarizaki

Atsumu and Osamu as twin leaders of a weak but large gang makes me giggle okay? Hinata calling them chickens and trying to get into the Crows' gang? yeah i like that idea. Also the idea that Atsumu follows the vibe of the music album by letting the Crows walk through Orphan Town after flirting with Kageyama and Yamaguchi makes me laugh.

The Lizzies = The Sirens (aka any pretty people in hq not already mentioned in a gang)

Kiyoko is a given as the gang leader who Tanaka falls for and derails the Crows for a little bit. However, as the title suggests, the lines 'that pretty boy just bit me! he bit me! are you fucking kidding me?' are really catching onto my brain and I can't stop vocally stimming with it so maybe we follow ennotana and let Ennoshita bite Tanaka idk.

Honourable mentions: UshiTen as the radio DJs.

That's it. You read it right. Tendou is the radio DJ calling out to the boppers and chilling me to the bone but Ushijima is the one behind the scenes whenever I think about this, ensuring the radio show goes smoothly lmao

I have so many questions and need to know everything cus EXCUSE ME O.O 😂

Okay so. It's not as weird as it seems at first lol This was a fic for the HQNSFWBB which has sadly not happened, and I'll finish it eventually anyway.

The idea is that Tanaka is a streamer, and his friends (Kenma and Taketora) challenge him to a blind playthrough of Dark Souls. So he does it and every time he's in trouble he realises that the same guy has put down a summon sign right in front of the boss fight. It takes him a while to figure out, but basically, a viewer of his streams has been putting down the signs to help him, and when he calls this out, there's a POV switch to the viewer, which turns out to be Ennoshita. Ennoshita has been part of Tanaka's community and Discord for ages and has a bit of a crush on him. He decides to only reveal his identity, once Tanaka has beaten the first game. After he does, Tanaka approaches him and asks him if he'd be interested in a co-op run of Darks Souls II. Ennoshita is over the moon and agrees. As they stream together, they get closer in their private messages until things escalate and they basically start sexting each other.

So yeah, not as weird as it sounds from the file name 😂😂

Here's a little snippet from the start of the fic:

“Fuck, fuck, fuck! Where did that asshole even come from?!” Ryuu yelled, spiking the audio on his microphone as a huge knight in black armour drained his entire life bar in one hit. “And why is he so strong? Isn't this the starting area?” Looking over at his second screen, Ryuu could see his viewers filling the chat with Fs. “Yeah, yeah, Fs in chat,” he muttered. “And thanks for the drink and stretch reminders, guys, I'll take that opportunity now.” Just like he'd expected, this Dark Souls run wasn't going particularly great. He was only an hour in and already, his death count was at 23 according to his chat.

The fact that this ship exists is hilarious to me. As far as I'm aware it spawned from that scene where Terushima says something about "the cutie in the glasses" and is referring to Shimizu, but Yamaguchi in the background looks off-put about it lmao. And why this didn't turn into terutsukki? idk probably bc people just thought they'd kill each other and the trope of ""good boy"" Yamaguchi falling for bad boy Terushima is more fun for people? Idk lol

Either way, I'll be honest none of that really interests me personally. The only part I'm mildly intrigued by is just the idea of Terushima having a crush on Yamaguchi, bc 1 who wouldn't he's a great guy and 2 Yamaguchi reacting to that information sounds hilarious. Maybe he's even kinda into the idea that Terushima likes him, that's sorta fun to me—and Tsukki teasing him for the whole thing too lol. But idk Yamaguchi actually dating Terushima? Even just hooking up with him?? Idk I don't see it, doesn't really work for me lol

Ennotana: Hmm I'd say it makes some sense, but does not compel me.

I could see them happening down the road later in their lives and just sorta falling into each other, that sounds nice and sweet. But idk, it doesn't really sound interesting to me either lol. I'm certainly not against it, and I feel like they've got more romantic potential to me than Tanaka and Noya for example, but idk they're just fine as a pairing imo in terms of compelling narrative interest
