What's this captive prince thing you've been posting about lately?

The Captive Prince trilogy by C.S. Pacat! Was rec'd in a discord i'm in a while back, and turns out multiple of my mutuals really like it

I'm only on book 1, so I don't know the overarching plot (I can guess it though), but it's an adult fantasy and the initial premise is: the bastard prince of Akielos has violently overthrown the kingdom, secretly imprisoning and sending the crown prince, Damianos, as part of a treaty gift to their greatest enemy to serve as a pleasure slave to their crown prince.

If anyone finds out who he truly is, they'll have him killed; renamed Damen, he must figure out how to navigate the twisted, scheming foreign courts and politics, and find a way home. Fallen from prince to enemy slave, the dynamics and expectations of sex and pleasure in this new country are foreign and, at times, cruel. His new master, the crown prince who has reason more than anyone to despise him if he finds out his true identity, the cruelest of them.

This is definitely a book with warnings, as the term "pleasure slave" might've clued you in. Violence, sexual slavery, rape, underage/child sex abuse (though not the mcs). Both of the characters around the mc and the mc. Here's a list I've found. I can provide more detail if needed

So far I've found it fast to read, engaging, and the primary dynamic complicated and fucked up. We shall see what happens next :)
