hrm, I see that Fandom wiki is slowly rolling out the Quick Answers module again, the thing that everyone across all sorts of fandom spaces were dunking on because it uses GenAI to scrape the articles to try to provide short answers to simple questions it supposes people have (and was getting things WILDLY wrong, and not even regular Fandom editors wanted this module)

it does not seem that wikis selected to have Quick Answers can opt out, and the current system is that there is a dashboard where editors with the appropriate user rights can review and correct the answers—and the Answers are auto-published after thirty days. Unclear if they will still auto-publish if nobody gets around to reviewing them.

the Quick Answers is specifically stated to make Fandom wikis "more relevant and accessible to Google and eventually enhance the SEO", so it's all just for SEO (and thus ultimately for ad revenue)

anyway, install Indie Wiki Buddy, check out their list of independent wikis, check out the Nintendo Indie Wiki Alliance and the Independent Wiki Federation, visit and support and contribute to the non-Fandom wikis if one exists for your topic area

Something that you’re not prepared for when world building is that sometimes writing how a space station runs involves breaking down every single scientific, electrical, mechanical, and Human Resources parts of running a space station and logging these things over two dozen cross referenced spreadsheets and also gosh darn it you’re running on an alien time clock and calendar so you can’t use any premade employee schedulers you have to make your own which is another four spreadsheets

hi! may i ask where are you watching talks machina? I’m a new-ish fan and would love to learn the extra lore off-table but I can’t find it anywhere

hi, welcome to the fandom!

your specific question is answered in my faq but since you are new here i will give a brief explanation! talks was hosted by brian foster, previously ashley's fiance, but last year media leaks revealed that ashley was filing a lawsuit accusing him of abuse, among other things. CR scrubbed all of his content off their channels at that time, including talks machina, between the sheets, yee-haw game ranch, etc.

so as a general rule of thumb we don't talk about him anymore. and subsequently content featuring him is no longer available to watch

per my faq: i am watching talks machina episodes via my own personal archive, as this does not generate any additional revenue from content featuring brian wayne foster. i won't be distributing those files, because i think anyone who has their own downloads of this content has a responsibility to make sure it doesn't get re-published, as it was taken down for a very good and long-standing reason. i am very intentional about leaving him out of the content of my posts. please blacklist "talks machina" if you do not want to see posts about the show.

also i don't know if this is true for other religious texts, but the lumon handbook is formatted exactly like pretty much every bible i've seen (spacing, columns, tiny slightly thick serif font, line breaks between sections) down to the thickness of the pages (thin, flimsy) and if that's not a production choice but just the way those manuals are formatted then WHAT a fateful coincidence lmaooo
