💌 | Forget about sims, let's learn about YOU! Tell us one fact about yourself, and then send this to 5 other Simblrs to do the same 🌈
thank uuuu for the ask! this fact is actually something i thought of recently because of the release of the horse pack.
when i was a kid, one of my favourite "games" was going through these encyclopedias with pictures in them and like... play with them? i would pretend i could travel into the pictures like on that cartoon called stanley or something, or i would use the people and animals and stuff in the pictures to play... dolls? (they were literally just pictures tho, so i was basically just making up stories with them). ofc i would just read or look through them, too.
i had multiple encyclopedias like that and i even had one about different horse breeds, which is why i thought of it now. but my favourite was this one i had since i was quite small and it was this big book with loads of pictures about basically everything. my fave parts were the ones where it would show certain objects throughout history (e.g. bikes, games, boats, ...)
my parents did not realise i was autistic.

Today's finds! Saw these magazines and KNEW I needed them. Individual pictures of them each coming up. I read Legacy of Luna as a kid and wanted it as reference material, and then added a horse breed book to my breed encyclopedia collection to go next to the cat and dog ones!

they make a bigger version of 'The Complete Horse & Rider' called 'The Ultimate Book of the Horse and Rider' which has all the riding and tack info, plus sections on different breeds and horse care (they also make one that's just the horse breeds) . I also liked The Encyclopedia of the Horse by Elwyn Hartley-Edwards. That has breed profiles and also some more general horse history articles.

Practical Horseman is a good English riding focused magazine, Equus is also really good and more focused on horse care.
You can also get copies of the Pony Club manuals and the USHJA (Hunter/Jumper Association) has a study guide for their Horsemanship Quiz that anyone can access.
Hi, I hope you don't mind a teen messaging you but I was wondering since youve had lifelong initerest in horses if you had any ideas for a young hourse autism who doesn't have any way to meet them much less learn to ride them or anything, like any good games or anything you know or books or movies you like?
hello and thanks for the ask! of course i dont mind it at all! im so sorry this took me ages to reply to!
game recommendations: i would say Horse Isle 3, its pretty good for training ur eye to learn coat colors, patterns, dilutions etc but it does have its own terminology sometimes so be warry of that (like, the player base comes up with their own nicknames for coat colors so sometimes what u see being said isnt the -actual- term for things)
book recommendations: ooo i would say this one! is such a good book that covers the broader history of horses and horse breeds!

another book recommendation is this one! my special ed teacher gave this book to me when i was in first grade cus everytime i went to her class id run for the book and just try and spend all my time looking thru it :) its more on equitation rather than breeds and genetics but still very very good!

Like. It is difficult to express how much I know and care about cats.
I had a cat fancy subscription from the ages of 11 to 15 because I was obsessed with cats. I had every book on cat behavior that I could find in my library. I tried to get my teachers to call me Alli Cat. When my girl scout troop was assisting younger troops at camporee, the troop leader had us name ourselves "[Herb Name] Bear" - like "cinnamon bear" or "tarragon Bear" and I asked if I could be cat bear and if i could put a cat on the teddy bear tee shirts we were making and she said no so I got out an encyclopedia and found out that catnip was sometimes called cat mint so i called myself Catmint bear and put a cat head in the tree on the shirt design and claimed it was a bird's nest. My girl scout silver award project was collecting donations of food and money for an animal rescue to help cats.
You know how there are horse girls? I was that but with cats. I had eleven cats at one point. I *adore* cats. In the eight grade class people voted me "most likely to become a crazy cat lady."
So when people come at me with "oh but it's cruel to keep a cat inside, you can't do that and keep them mentally healthy" or "it's natural to let cats roam, they aren't doing any harm and it's perfectly safe" they are not only getting into a "discussion" with a pathologically argumentative research junkie, they are doing so with a pathologically argumentative research junkie who has been terminally annoying about cat behavior and welfare SINCE I WAS A TWEEN IN THE NINETIES.
so you can see, perhaps, why this feral cat situation drives me, specifically, insane, and why I'm utterly incapable of being normal about this.

I think Sevika like horses. I think if someone finds a random horse related item like an old figurine or a book and she hears about it the item goes missing (in her pocket)
“Damn where’d that Horse Encyclopedia go”
Sevika, with a suspiciously book shaped cloak, “And why the hell would I know.”
