hi mezelean marriage tradition dictates that the couple weaves each other necklaces from young branches of the mother tree that she only allows you to have if she approves of your marriage (as in, she somehow makes the branches fall off on their own because. magic religeon tree). mezelean culture strongly values craftsmanship and so making your future spouse a piece of jewellery they're expected to wear near constantly (similar to a wedding ring) is like the ultimate sign of devotion. depending on the people engagement can last anywhere from days to years, since [traditionally] it begins when the mother tree gifts them the branches and ends when the people getting married have both/all (realised in making this post i dont have to make monogamy the norm, W) completed their necklaces. this is when the ceremony takes place. i havent gotten a lot about the ceremony down yet but i know it involves a lot of dancing, very upbeat and fast paced fun dancing.
Joel and Lizzie had three ceremonies, a traditional ocean empire wedding, a traditional mezelean wedding, and a more 'standard' wedding, yk the type most widely known across servers ig. that one was for all the rulers to attend and probably also paparazzi. much more of an official affair than the other two that are much more about their cultures and celebration

Summary:
A  historian once said to his students; “In a long lost age, before records truly began, our world was built by titans. Beings of impossible size whose bodies fall to earth and became the biomes we know. Their bones became the rocks, shaped into vast caverns by the arches of their ribs. Their blood ran downward into the darkest depths of the world, imbuing it with untold riches, magic, and danger. And from their fallen forms civilization flourished.” But that isn't quite right. A piece missing in the history no one could hope to pick out, none but the ancients who lived it. An era before civilization, just as the titans bodies settled into the land. The era between titans and civilization, the birth of the first gods. -- An exploration of the first gods within the realm of empires. Who they were, who they became, and most especially the life from start to end of the Mezalean Mother Tree.
So guess who realised they didn't post a bunch of their fic links over here? This idiot! Gonna start trying to get links over here lol <3

They were all gone.
Joel doesn't know how he knows that, but like most things, he decides not to question it. Instead, he focuses on walking the streets of Mezelea, assessing the damage, doing his best to not look up at the sky, or at the sea.
It's easier, he learns, to focus on the pain he can see. The palace, once the point of pride of his empire, is the dying proof of the fact. It's impossible not to see the cracked roofs or the walls collapsing on themselves, no matter where you stayed in the city. And while all the blueprints remained, even though Joel could probably repair it, given enough time, he knows it's something he couldn't make himself do.
To repair the palace would either be healing or forgetting the pain, and the King refuses to let go of it.
It's easier to focus on the sky and the cracked terracotta there, than the sea and it's quietness.
So the palace remains broken, and the Slayer of Horses keeps looking up.
When the oceans stopped their songs, the matral tree filled the silence. There wasn't a melody or an emotion behind it, but rather a soft hum, always a little too quiet for Joel to make out.
It's clearest when he closes his eyes, alone, and let's himself feel. The humming feels that empty place inside his chest that his friends had left, a comfort he will later feel stupid for relishing.
Joel knows what it means, but unlike a lot of things, this time he decides not to ignore it.
The King of Mezelea walks its streets one final time, making sure everything is in order, before going back to where it all started.
The mother tree is there, waiting for him, like she does for all her children. Joel had though he was special, once, after seeing her call back so many others, but never him. Now, he understands.
Silently, he walks down to the small space between her roots and the ground, and lays down.
The first time he had opened his eyes he had seen the bright blue sky between roots and branches. Now, that same sight is interrupted by lights and buildings and the top of a broken palace.
Outside, the sea starts crashing hard against the coast, but the humming is so loud now that Joel can barely register it.
He knows what it means. He has seen first hand what the salty water can do to clay, but he isn't afraid. Instead, he closes his eyes, and curls against the roots.
"You should make the next one taller," he jokes, and falls asleep.

Hola, Here's My Ph1LzA Minecraft™ Family Tree:
So okay this is -mostly- going off of what the man himself said about his Hardcore world, SMP Earth, DSMP, and Qsmp (In that order, then back to Hardcore) all being the same guy. I also take into account some instances outside of the SMP's.
(Keep in mind, I don't know everything about Ph1LzA's Hardcore world lore when it comes to the relationships so anything to do with that is me guess-timating. Feel free to correct me with some sources if I mess up ヘ(・ _|)
(Also I'm not Ph1L so don't take this as canon, think of it more as an AU of mine i guess?)
Non-Colorcoded Version at the bottom If this Makes your eyeballs bleed.
I finished this at like 1AM so there's probably some spelling errors or smth.

QSMP Masterlist
-----WARNINGS: Wilbur Soot is included exclusively for story telling purposes. I will only be calling him [Redacted] because I no longer consider him apart of the family.
Rose:
So Ph1LzA starts in his hardcore world by being spawned in by Rose (Earth/Overworld Deity?), shes his Spawn Deity. Shes kind of his Mother in the sense that he exists there because of her, but shes not his ACTUAL Mother and they don't refer to her as such. But since shes ~kind of~ his mom Ive included her on this list.
Kristin/Miss Trixtin:
Shes the Goddess of Death and his Wife (Romantic). due to her job being literal death itself, they don't get to see each other that much when hes in a SMP, they see each other when he goes into his head, the void/underworld or when she possesses him to see the living world.
They're relationship is both a romantic marriage and like religious worship, an Angel fully devoted to his Goddess. a lot like Gomez and Morticia Addams.
Technoblade:
The Legend Himself, he was the vessil for The Blood god, giving him the same status as a demi-god. They meet when Techno is like a teenager, say 14-16. They stay together through out SMP Earth as the Emperors of The Antarctic Empire, separate for a bit as Ph1LzA goes back to his hardcore world, then reunite for the last time on the DSMP.
Technoblade and Ph1LzA are what I would call Platonic Soulmates. whether it be as Father and Son, best friends, or as brothers. No matter how you choose to see it they are family either way. He's also Ph1LzA's favorite.
[Redacted]:
He was considered as Technoblade's younger twin by a few minutes despite there being no biological relation. He was Ph1LzA's only biological child and was the father of Fundy and Tallulah. Was married to his now Ex-Wife Sally The Salmon.
[Redacted] is not Kristin's biological child. [Redacted] was born from Ph1LzA and Samsung Fridge. A Literal Fridge.
Tommyinnit:
Met Ph1LzA through SMP Earth and attempted to assassinate the man, after failing Loony-tunes style a bunch of times he eventually annoyed Ph1L and Techno into liking him. Techno and Tommy have a more brotherly relationship despite Techno rejecting the family canon in DSMP.
Tommy is the Father of his adopted son Shroud, a spider, and is Kristin's favorite Son.
Fundy:
The Child of [Redacted] and Sally The Salmon, Fundy has a rocky relationship with his family other than his son Yogurt. Hes siblings with Tallulah though he has never met her.
Shroud:
Tommyinnit's adopted son
Yogurt:
Fundy's adopted son.
MissaSinfonia:
Hes a Mexican artist and musician. He and Ph1LzA met on the QSMP and were partnered to take care of they're adopted Egg Chayanne. Missa is Ph1L's Husband (started as Platonic, though labels don't seem to work for them anymore), though they don't see each other much due to Missa's job as a grim reaper. Later Missa adopts Tallulah as well.
Missa's brother is SpreenDMC and his Mother is Dama Muerte (Lady Death). His "Boss" Is Kristin.
Chayanne:
He was adopted by Ph1LzA and Missa, with his favorite parent being Missa. He loves cooking and sees himself as a responsible older sibling to all of the other eggs.
His younger sibling is Tallulah and he heavily idolizes Technoblade.
Tallulah:
Was the adopted Egg child of [Redacted], and was later adopted by Ph1LzA and Missa when [Redacted] left her. Her favorite parent is Ph1Lza and she loves animals, flowers, and music.
She doesn't know Fundy and is unaware that he is her brother.
Dama Muerte (Lady Death):
Missa's Mother (this isn't her actual name, I couldn't find anything for her so I gave her one.) and the Goddess of the underworld. She rules over the land of the dead but isn't actually death, Kristin is. Think Hades and Thantos, God of the Underworld and God of death.
SpreenDMC:
Hes Missa's Brother (I don't know the exact relation). Hes a fighter that prefers PvP to RP, he was the unwilling partner of FitMC and father of Ramón. he left and went "missing" for months. He was later revealed to be dead.
He may come back due to his Mother though.
FitMC:
Father of his Egg Ramón, Widow because Spreen died, Is dating Pactw. Old friend of Ph1LzA's since SMP Earth and a Veteran from 2b2t. Adopted Richarlyson.
Pactw:
Brazilian man dating Fit and adopted Ramón. Half of Tazercraft and Platonic Soulmates with MikeTheLink. Father of Richarlyson.
Ramón:
Son of Fit and Pac, Has a Mustache and he loves CreateMod. Hes friends with Chayanne and Tallulah. Adopted brother of Richas.
MikeTheLink:
Platonic Soulmates with Pac, Married to Barbmine, Goddess of Creation. Father of Richas.
Barbmine:
Goddess of Creation and Wife of Mike and Mother of Richas.
Richarlyson:
Brazilian Egg, loves chaos and is the son of Pac, Mike, Felps, Cellbit, Barbmine, and recently Fit.
Tumblr media
I could have gone farther with the Family Tree but ill save it for another post, this one is long enough as is. ill link it when I get it done.
Again this isn't exactly canon, take it as an AU more than anything.
I Mostly just made this cause I saw someone else's post on this that excluded Missasinfonia entirely but included Chayanne and Tallulah and it kinda pissed me off especially since some people like to exclude the Spanish speakers on the Qsmp cause they didn't play as often and only referenced them as relationship pieces to their Egg partners.
Missa is just as much apart of Ph1LzA's Family as Chay and Lullah. THEY LITTERALLY CALL THEMSELVES THE DEATHFAMILY AND TALK ABOUT MISSA SO MUCH YOU CAN'T JUST IGNORE THAT!
Well... you can, I can't control you and you can do whatever you want and this isn't meant to be an attack on anybody I just needed to say smth about it.
Anyway Non-Colorcoded below.

Mother Of The Spores
“Hello to you too, pretty boy,” Cuteguy greets him,”Now tell me what exactly are you doing in woods that are owned by a witch?”
Written by: FeatheredEnby
Word Count: 2,222
Part Four of: Show Your Fangs
A Super Hero AU of Empires SMP/The Life Series/Hermitcraft
She has to be quick as she plants it, if anyone were to see her she would be done for. As the red clad figure makes her way through the forest she gathers the herbs and mushrooms that are needed to set the trap. She shoves them all into a small pouch that sits at her waist and goes over the list in her head, rosemary, belladonna, mandrake, and white lily along with inky cap mushrooms, fly agarics, and shiitakes. Using these she can do what The King has requested, and as she thinks this she reaches the desired location. It's a large cave in one of the forest’s many glades, and just inside she places the items needed for the spell, before beginning to cast.
“ᓵ𝙹ᒲʖ╎リᒷ ℸ ̣ ⍑ᒷᓭᒷ ╎ℸ ̣ ᒷᒲᓭ ᔑリ↸ ⊣╎⍊ᒷ ℸ ̣ ⍑ᒷᒲ ᔑ ꖎ╎⎓ᒷ ᔑᓭ ᔑリ ᒷリℸ ̣ ╎ℸ ̣ || 𝙹⎓ !¡𝙹∴ᒷ∷ ᔑリ↸ ᓵ𝙹リℸ ̣ ∷𝙹ꖎ, ∴╎ℸ ̣ ⍑╎リ ᔑ ᒲ𝙹リℸ ̣ ⍑ ℸ ̣ ⍑ᒷ|| ∴╎ꖎꖎ ℸ ̣ ᔑꖌᒷ 𝙹⍊ᒷ∷ ╎リ ⍑𝙹!¡ᒷᓭ ℸ ̣ ⍑ᔑℸ ̣  ℸ ̣ ⍑ᒷ ᓭ╎ꖎꖎ|| ꖎ╎ℸ ̣ ℸ ̣ ꖎᒷ ⍑ᒷ∷𝙹ᒷᓭ ∴╎ꖎꖎ ᓵ𝙹ᒲᒷ ℸ ̣ 𝙹 ╎リ⍊ᒷᓭℸ ̣ ╎⊣ᔑℸ ̣ ᒷ.”, and with that it’s done and she can return to the city.
-
It had been about five in the morning when Scar had gotten the call telling him to report to The GFHA headquarters at seven, and now it’s nine and he’s hiking through the local dark oak forest with Cub, one of The GFHA’s top scientists. As they walk he feels like there’s something watching him but that’s not what’s important at the moment, as according to the briefing there had been rumors of a strange fungus causing odd behavior in the local animal. Cub and him are almost there when a twig snaps behind them and Scar sends an arrow flying to the source of the sound only to find that nothing’s there as Scar goes to collect the arrow something or someone drops down from the trees behind him, Scar turns around to find a smirking Cuteguy in front of him.
“What the… Cuteguy? You almost gave me a heart attack.” Scar exclaims.
“Hello to you too, pretty boy,” Cuteguy greets him,”Now tell me what exactly are you doing in woods that are owned by a witch?”
“I didn’t know that this forest was owned by a witch.” He lies.
“Uh huh… in that case what are you doing here?”
Cub interjects,”That’s classified information.”
“Okay don’t tell me,” Cuteguy retorts,”But I’m still going to follow you.”
-
Grian doesn’t know what exactly possessed him to follow Hotguy into Shelby’s forest but something did and now he’s standing in a glade that’s covered in strange mushrooms and mycelium vines. He can’t see very far in front of him either because of the thick fog that engulfs the clearing and he turns to see Hotguy and the scientist putting on gas masks but he’s Cuteguy and he can’t afford that luxury, however it soon becomes evident that they’re useful as he starts to become dizzy and nauseous. He still tries to clear his head, and as he does he sees a small chicken now that was weird. Maybe he should try to talk to her and ask if it’s okay. “𐎧𐎤𐏀 𐏂𐎧𐎤𐎱𐎤, 𐎠𐎱𐎤 𐏀𐎮𐎸 𐎮𐎪𐎠𐏀”
“Uhm Cuteguy, what are you doing?” Hotguy asks.
Right Grian had forgotten that most people don’t know that he can talk to chickens, “I found a chicken,” he explained, “I can talk to chickens, I’m questioning it.”
“Okay I guess…”
Now the main question is if the chicken would respond as they aren’t the most talkative kind of bird, and it just dashes off which is just plain rude. In any case he could have sworn that there was something off about that chicken anyways. Grian just brushes it off however and continues to walk around dell until he finds a cave, he almost missed it too as most of its mouth is covered in mycelium tendrils and inky caps maybe? He would quite like to get into the cave but the layer of fungal growth is thick and he sadly only has two guns on him which won’t be very useful. Maybe he should try to kick it in, yes that’s a very good idea, much to Grian’s surprise the wall of shrooms breaks easily to reveal a cavern filled with bioluminescent fungi and lichens.
“Hotguy,” he calls,”you might want to see what I found.”
“Okay,” Hotguy calls back,”be there in just a second.”
So Grian waits in the mouth of the cave but it feels like something is calling him into it, so after a few minutes he gets impatient with Hotguy and goes further into it. The cave it turns out is surprisingly large if he had to guess Grian would say that he could fully extend his wings in it, but at the same time it makes him feel surprisingly claustrophobic but that’s probably just because the strange mist that they found outside is getting more heavily concentrated. Additionally as he goes further in the voice gets louder and he starts tripping on mycelium vines that are now about the size of tree roots. As Grian walks he examines the tendrils he’s looking at, a particularly large one as he walks into what he at first mistakes to be the end of the cave only to feel a shower of spores rain down upon him. The spores enter his lungs and he gasps for air while screaming for help before passing out.
-
Scar rifles through the undergrowth at the edge of the glade in an attempt to find a suitable specimen of the mushrooms to bring back to The GFHA’s lab in Hermitopia but based on his luck so far he probably won’t find any as it appears that the local animals have been eating the fungi. He wants to finish this quickly too, so that he can see what Cuteguy found as it sounded important, that’s when he hears a scream.
“What was that?!?” Scar yells.
“I’m not sure,” Cub replies,”but it came from that cave that Cuteguy found.”
“I’m going to go check what happened then,” Scar tells him,”I’ll be right back.”
As Scar walks over to the cave he nocks an arrow in his bow and turns on the dark vision in his glasses before stepping in. The inside walls of the cave, covered in lichen and mycelium, would have been quite interesting had he not known that someone was in danger. Scar’s quite glad that he turned on dark vision as the concentration of fog gets thicker and clouds his vision. He has to be very careful when making his way through the cave as there are thick roots growing out from the rock which could seriously damage his mechanical leg braces.Maybe when this whole thing is over he should ask for more durable ones or a cane or crutches or- Scar trips over the largest root yet and sees standing in front of him none other that Cuteguy except the fact that something is off, his eyes appear glossed over with a purple tint and there are various mushrooms sprouting from his head. Scar’s so focused on what happened to Cuteguy that he barely has time to move before a thread of mycelium can grab his leg, he rolls over hopping up and loosing an arrow from his bow at Cuteguy’s foot only for him to dodge. The next root hurdles at his stomach and Scar deflects it with his bow only to get his leg yanked out from under him.
 As Scar is hung upside down from his leg Cuteguy approaches him, “W̸e̶l̸l̴,̸ ̶w̸e̶l̴l̴,̵ ̷w̵e̷l̴l̸.,”he says in a voice that isn’t his,”̵L̶o̶o̶k̶s̸ ̴l̴i̶k̷e̷ ̴t̷h̴e̴ ̶p̷o̶o̵r̵ ̷f̵a̷e̶ ̸g̶o̷t̴ ̸s̶t̷u̸c̸k̷ ̶i̴n̶ ̷m̵y̸ ̴l̵i̷t̷t̴l̷e̶ ̷t̸r̷a̸p̷.”In fact the voice reminds him of someone who he fought about a month prior, she had joined in a fight with The Dogwarts Duo out of the blue and had summoned ghost wolves to attack Canary Call and him and introduced herself as “The Red Witch”.
“Wait what- You’re the red witch!?!” He exclaims.
“Y̷o̵u̵ ̵c̴o̶u̴l̶d̸ ̷s̴a̷y̷ ̶t̷h̴a̷t̷ ̸b̴u̶t̸ ̴n̵o̷,̴ ̵n̷o̶t̵ ̸q̶u̴i̸t̴e̵,” the thing in Cuteguy replies,”I̶ ̴a̴m̷ ̴m̶e̶r̶e̵l̷y̸ ̷o̶n̵e̴ ̸o̵f̴ ̶h̷e̴r̶ ̸c̶r̷e̸a̷t̴i̴o̴n̵s̸.̵”
“Okay so you aren’t her but what the heck do you want with Cuteguy?”
“O̵h̸.̵.̵.̴ ̶y̴o̴u̴ ̷m̵e̶a̶n̸ ̴m̶y̷ ̶n̸e̸w̴ ̷v̶e̷s̸s̷e̶l̴?̴,” it asks,”I̵ ̵j̴u̶s̷t̴ ̵n̴e̶e̷d̴e̸d̴ ̴h̸i̶m̴ ̵t̴o̶ ̶g̸e̷t̴ ̶t̶o̸ ̴y̴o̴u̶.̷”
“What do you mean to get to me?” Scar inquires.
“T̷h̶a̵t̸'̵s̷ ̴e̵n̴o̴u̶g̵h̸,̸” it snaps before covering his mouth with a vine,”t̴i̸m̷e̵ ̸t̷i̸m̵e̷ ̸t̷o̸ ̷d̶e̷a̶l̶ ̴w̶i̶t̵h̵ ̸t̸h̸a̷t̷ ̸l̵i̵t̷t̶l̵e̶ ̸s̴c̷i̸e̸n̴t̵i̸s̷t̵ ̶o̴f̵ ̴y̵o̸u̸r̶s̴.̵”
With that the thing possessing Cuteguy walks off, if Scar could just find a way down from where he’s hanging he could get out of the cave and find help. All of his arrows fell out of his quiver but he might be able to reach one, however the regular ones won’t be of any help unless he can use one to saw through the vine wrapped around his leg. So Scar reaches down until he feels an arrow in his fingers and as he pulls it up he sees that it has the black shaft that tells him it’s a normal one. He gets to work sawing through the vive with one hand while holding his bow in the other until it drops him when he gathers all of his arrows, not bothering to put them in the right compartments. At this moment the thing returns and Scar feels a slicing pain as a sharp rock hits him in the side, “O̵o̶p̶s̵,̶ ̴d̶i̵d̸ ̶t̴h̸a̵t̷ ̵h̵u̸r̵t̷?̵”
Scar reaches back and frantically grabs an explosive arrow before slowly walking toward Cuteguy, “Cuteguy,” he starts,”I know that you’re in there.”
“H̷a̷!̶ ̸Y̴o̶u̵ ̶s̷h̴o̷u̵l̶d̵ ̶k̷n̷o̷w̵ ̷a̵s̸ ̶g̵o̸o̸d̵ ̸a̸s̶ ̵a̵n̷y̵o̴n̵e̶ ̸t̴h̴a̸t̵ ̷h̶e̸'̷s̸ ̷n̷o̴t̶ ̷h̵e̴r̷e̶ ̷r̴i̷g̴h̵t̸ ̸n̸o̴w̴ ̸a̸-̵,” the thing is cut off,”Get out. Get the fuck 𝙹⚍ℸ ̣  𝙹⎓ ᒲ|| ⍑ᒷᔑ↸!”
Cuteguy’s eyes glow bright purple as he… casts a spell? Scar didn’t know that he could do that, all of the mushrooms on Cuteguy get pushed away but soon after the mycelium tendrils start attacking him and Scar.
“Run!” Scar screams at him and the two of them bolt out of the cave but despite their speed the vines are faster and as they reach the mouth Scar turns around loses an arrow from his bow and the cave explodes sending hunks of rock and mushroom flying and he’s knocked out.

He can’t believe what he’s done, to be fair Grian had no idea what was going to be in that cave but as he drags an unconscious Hotguy and a bleeding scientist to Shelby’s house the guilt is waying down on him. As he reaches the front door Grian hesitates as to bring them to Shelby means he has to tell her what happened but it’s better than explaining it to authorities so he knocks. A warm glow showers over him as she opens the door but her face can’t hide her shock.
“Oh my gods…” Shelby quietly exclaims,”Grian what happened?”
“It’s a long story, can we come inside?”

“⍑ᒷᔑꖎ !¡ꖎᒷᔑᓭᒷ, ⎓𝙹∷ ℸ ̣ ⍑ᒷ ꖎ𝙹⍊ᒷ 𝙹⎓ ⊣𝙹↸ᓭ. リJJリᒷ ╎ᓭ ↸||╎リ⊣ ╎リ ᒲ|| ⍑𝙹⚍ᓭᒷ リ𝙹ℸ ̣  ℸ ̣ 𝙹↸ᔑ||,” Shelby finishes the spell on Hotguy,”okay these two should be fine but do you want to explain what happened?”
“Well there was a cave in this forest with a lot of weird mushrooms in it and it was kind of an entity. I don’t really remember much but it possessed me and I hurt Hotguy and whatshisname over there.” Grian explains.
“Okay and?”
“I managed to get free but the thing started attacking me and Hotguy so we ran but it almost got us so he blew up the cave with an arrow. That of course caused him to get knocked out.”
“Wow. That’s a lot to take in.” Shelby says as she opens a book on possession.
“I just feel so guilty,” he continues,”I might stop being Cuteguy for a little bit at least until this whole mess blows over.”
“If that’s what you want.” She says absentmindedly as she flips through the book.
“I’m just dont- oh no.”
“What?” She asks while turning around,”You good?”
“I’m fine! But Hotguy’s waking up.”
“Okay then. Do you want to do it or should I?”
“Do what?”
“Um… Actually, never mind, I have to go grab something, keep an eye on him.” She says while leaving the room.
Oh no. No. No. No. No. This is not good. He almost killed both Hotguy and the scientist and now he has to be alone in a room with them? It’s fine he just has to act perfectly calm and collected and normal. Grian snaps out of it as he sees Hotguy try to get up only to lay back down on the couch. He turns to look at Grian. Shit.
“Wha- Cuteguy? What happened? The last thing I remember is blowing up that cave and-” Hotguy starts to look confused, and Grian realizes that he’s crying,”Are you okay.”
“I… I have to go.” And with that Grian leaves.

Woooooooo, day three is here!
This is a bit of a diversion from the usual as I wanted to have more of an outsider pov on Tommy and Dream and then it turned into a whole-ass fantasy AU. First time for this challenge, but it won't be the last ngl.
Anyway, hope you guys like it still!

The Path to Godhood (Empires SMP)
Summary: Joel is just an average, mortal, boy living with his single mother in what will become the Ancient Capital. The Rapture hasn't occured yet, but Joel is given a surprise when his father visits him, telling him a humanity-wiping event will happen in twenty years. He gives Joel an offer that includes safety from it.
Or, how Joel became a god that doesn't include the Fountain of Strength.

Warnings: Death, death of a parent, bad parenting, lies, temporary amnesia, references to bullying, fire and smoke inhalation.
~~~
Even from a young age, Joel had been obsessed with the gods. He'd search out shrines of smaller deities in the outskirts of the capital, committing their names to memory. He'd sit with the older folk in town and listen to stories of adventure, morality, and jealousy. The gods were messy, and human-like, and they made mistakes just like everybody else. But they were just that: gods. And Joel was a mere human, tethered to the earth like a bird with clipped wings.
Keeping to himself and only interacting with elders put a target on his back. The kids his own age taunted him for his height and scrawniness, throwing dodo poop at his clothes and tripping him wherever he walked.
His mother said that children preyed on the weak, and that Joel was an old-soul. "Keep true to yourself, and they'll eventually tire of you. They're looking for reactions, and the best thing you can do without making the bullying worse is to pretend they don't affect you."
The thing was, it did affect him. A lot. His mother was on the shorter side, and Joel was too. They had a lot in common, in fact. The same untamable brown hair, and chestnut eyes. The only trait Joel apparently got from his out-of-the-picture father was his rather bulbous nose. Joel liked to keep it that way; he much preferred to look like his mother who Joel considered his one and only parent.
A lot of stigma came with being an only parent, and Joel was ready to fight anybody who even blinked at his mother the wrong way. But none came. The children had plenty of opportunities to say something rude about his mother but didn't, and no whispers came from the adults.
Joel didn't truly understand it. Until one night, sitting under a froglight tree in the orchard, a man appeared in front of him. He was wearing a pure-white chiton, blond hair and blue eyes. His entire being was ringed with gold, indicating his godhood. The thing that stood out the most to Joel was the man's nose. Large and bulbous—exactly like Joel's own.
"I must be dreaming," Joel muttered, and he quickly stood up. Because gods didn't just come down to the mortal realm. And if they did, they definitely made sure to be hidden, and they definitely didn't have children with mortal women.
"I'm afraid you’re not. Joel, I am your father."
The world seemed to fall away from under Joel, and he instantly sat back down. "What?"  This revelation felt like one of those hackneyed melodramas some of the older kids wrote and acted out in town square. All he needed now was an amnesia plotline, and he'd be set. "Why are you telling me this now?"
Joel could now place which god this was—the god of the sky. It was his job to paint the heavens blue every morning, and black in the night. Only when he was sad or upset did the sky end up a melancholy grey.
The god of the sky looked down pityingly at Joel. "The Fates have read of a terrible future, and it's quite imminent. It won't happen in this area, but it will affect the entire world causing earthquakes and rising waters. Nearly every mortal will die."
A shiver went through Joel. "How soon does everyone have?"
"Twenty years, at the most," the god replied. His lips were pursed and he seemed to not know where to look—at Joel or somewhere else.
Twenty years felt like a long time away, but Joel supposed if he was immortal, that period wouldn't seem nearly as long. "So. Everyone's going to die. Are you planning for me to be the messenger to tell everybody? Maybe we can build something? A safe house?" His mind was already running with ideas on how to do such a thing. Obsidian, perhaps?
The god shook his head. "No, the mortals will descend into chaos if they were to know. No Joel, I'm asking you if you would like to be granted the gift of immortality and live with me and the other gods. It will be safe up there."
“Immortality?” Joel repeated. “With you?” He could hardly wrap his head around the idea. The prospect of living forever, alongside the gods no less, sounded incredible. He’d be safe from whatever terrible event would occur in two decades.
“Is my mother allowed to come too?” Joel thought of his mother who cared for him, loved him, and also held a demanding job at the copper aging facility below the capital.
The god’s face turned pained, “unfortunately, that’s not possible. You’re half-god, and already have some claim to it. Giving mortals immortality is incredibly difficult; the other gods all have to agree and I haven’t exactly made friends with all of them.”
Joel’s mind was then made up. “I can’t leave her behind. I’m the only person left for her here; she’d be all alone for the end of the world and I can’t do that to her.”
For a long time, the god stared at Joel with an inscrutable expression. Then, he patted Joel on the shoulder. “Very well,” he finally said. “You’re a good son, Joel. I’m proud to have you as my son. Farewell.” And, in the blink of an eye, he disappeared.
Joel stayed sitting under the froglight tree until the sun came up once again. He pictured his father running along the sky, giving it a beautiful pink and orange hue.
Joel never told his mother about the meeting.
~~~
As Joel grew older, he struggled with whether or not he should tell the city that humanity was going to die. But his father had been right; if people were to know, everything would fall into chaos. Crime would run rampant, and panic would ensue. Besides, if the Fates said that almost everyone would die, there was nothing to be done. The world might as well live in ignorance.
And so life went on.
He was nearing adulthood and, while he had sprouted up significantly, he was still in the middle of the pack. Nevertheless, the bullying backed off. He wasn't sure whether it was because of his new height or because they all grew up. Either way, Joel was glad.
In the meantime, his mom was getting older. Spending so much time underground had faded her usual liveliness. Her wrinkles seemed deeper, her eyes foggier. Grey streaked through her dark hair. Joel was scared.
He took up a part-time job at the froglight orchard, eventually working there full time after finishing his schooling. In the blazing sun, constantly plucking froglights from the trees, gathering them in a basket, and carrying them inside to be washed, Joel slowly felt himself become stronger. When he had first started at the orchard, he could only carry seven or so froglights per basket, but now he found he could lift nearly twenty.
Joel was proud of the accomplishment; he liked the way he looked in a mirror. The bulk fit him in a way the scrawniness hadn't. Unfortunately, his new appearance did remind himself of his father who he hadn't seen since that night under the froglight tree.
When his mother took a nasty fall in the copper aging facility, Joel was finally able to persuade his mother to retire. At this point, Joel was making enough money for the two of them to live comfortably along with the money he had already saved.
On her deathbed, early in the morning, Joel's mother pulled him into a loose hug, her hair tickling Joel's neck. Her hair was nearly all grey now, her hands shaking and frail. "Son, I need to tell you something. It's about your father."
Joel's face pinched. "Shhh," he told her. "It's okay; it doesn't matter. He isn't here now, and he's never been here to care for this family." A part of him wished his father was here, so he could see what he could have prevented by allowing the both of them immortality. Joel was positive his father could have gotten the other gods' permission, but he hadn't even fought for it. Hadn't even tried.
"But—" his mother argued.
Joel shook his head, and he could feel tears threatening to spill. "I love you."
Joel's mother gripped him tighter, pulling him closer into the hug. "I love you too, and I hope you know that physicality doesn't always denote strength."
"I know, I know." And this time, Joel couldn't hold the tears in. He felt them run down his cheeks like a waterfall and Joel could feel the exact moment his mother's heart slowed to a stop. "You are proof of that."
~~~
After the traditional funeral rites had been executed, Joel left.
He couldn't stay in the capital any longer. People looked at him with pity; they brought dishes upon dishes of food, saying that his mother was in a better place now. Joel seethed inside, knowing that this could have all been avoided.
It was the closest he had come to yelling that the world was going to end.
He travelled the world with only his thoughts as company. The places he visited were a comfort. They didn't know his mother was gone. They didn't know he hadn't always looked like this. They didn't know they would all die in just five more years. He hated seeing civilians pregnant with children, knowing that all was for nothing.
Everytime the cloud of grief began to be too much, Joel skipped town to the next one. And then the next one. He experienced new smells and sights, and met all kinds of people of different walks of life.
Too quickly, the five years were up, and Joel found himself in a snowy taiga village. That morning, the sky turned a terrifying red, and Joel wondered whether or not this was warning from his father that the end of the world was upon them all.
Groans rattled through the earth, shattering windows and scaring away livestock. Soon, the earthquakes arrived, and fire spread like the entire world was dry and parched. It didn't matter that snow decorated the ground, fire jumped from rooftop to rooftop.
Villagers rushed around, eyes wide, calling for their children.
Joel couldn't help but think that this village was lucky. The walls of most of the houses were made of cobblestone instead of wood. The walls wouldn't collapse on anybody. However, that didn't mean the roofs wouldn't.
"Pixlriffs!" A mother was screeching, nearly hysterical. Her cheeks were streaked with tears. "Pixlriffs! Where are you?"
Another villager was physically restraining her from running back into the fiery debris that had been their village. "You can't go back in there—it's a death wish. All we can hope is that your boy has already made it out."
Joel stepped forward. "I'll go in," he told the woman. "I'll glance into the houses to see if I can see him."
The other villager violently shook his head. "The boy is either dead or safe with the other children. You shouldn't—"
But Joel was already gone. He couldn't stand and watch as another son was ripped away from his mother. If the boy was still inside the village, as his mother thought, Joel was going to reunite the two of them if it was the last thing he did.
The smoke coming from the wooden roofs and light posts immediately engulfed him, but Joel continued on. "Pixlriffs!" He called out, before doubling over and letting out a cough. Still, he went deeper into the village, holding a scarf up to his mouth and nose.
His ears instantly perked up when he heard the screaming of a young boy, the voice coming from inside the house to his right. "Help; anyone! Please! I'm stuck!"
Joel bounded inside, taking in the scene in front of him. A beam from the roof had fallen, sandwiching Pixlriffs' leg between it and the floor. He looked to be seven or so, with a blue cloak and brown hair filled with ash.
Joel was instantly at his side, and he heaved the beam up an inch—enough for Pixlriffs to wriggle out from under the beam. The boy's breathing was laboured, and Joel wasn't sure if Pixlriffs had broken a leg or not, so hoisted him up on his back. "We're getting you out of here," Joel said, determination laced in his voice.
He stepped out of the house, using one hand to keep the scarf over his face and the other to keep Pixlriffs on his back. "Pull your shirt up over your mouth," Joel instructed. "It'll help keep the smoke out."
Joel felt shifting on his back as Pixlriffs did as he was told. "I'm scared," he said quietly, and Joel nearly didn't hear him over the crackling fire surrounding them.
"It's okay," Joel told him. "It's going to be okay. You'll reunite with your mother, and everything will be okay." He wasn't sure if he was just telling Pixlfirffs this or also himself. To get Pixlriffs' mind off of their current situation, Joel began talking. "My name is Joel. Did you know that I'm a god? In my true form, I can wrestle the ender dragon and I tower over everyone I meet. I only look like a regular man now because, if I were to show mortals what I actually look like, everyone would be scared of me." It was more than an exaggeration, but Joel hoped it was capturing Pixlriffs' imagination.
"The capital where I live worship dozens of gods, but I'm one of the most important." They were nearing the outskirts of town, and Joel could just barely see the outline of trees, currently not on fire. They wouldn't be that way for long, but Joel focussed on them nonetheless. He needed something to walk towards. He could feel it getting harder to breathe, and his nose burned from the irritation the smoke caused. Still, Joel continued talking. "The capital has this massive catacomb with a huge statue of our main goddess. People ride along the streets on dodos instead of horses or donkeys. I'll take you there one day."
Finally, they were out of the village, and Joel could see Pixlriffs' mother run towards them, eyes shining with relief.
Joel tried to take in a breath of fresh air, but ended up in a coughing fit, Pixlriffs sliding off his back in the process. Each cough seemed to come out harder than the last and, eventually, Joel collapsed into a heap on the ground, his heart stuttering and slowing down, almost at a deathly pace.
~~~
When Joel opened his eyes, he was in an unfamiliar room lying in an unfamiliar bed. A man sat at his bedside, looking nearly the same age as him. With blond hair and blue eyes, he looked almost familiar but Joel couldn't place him. "Where…where am I?" He asked. "Who are you?" With striking realization, he immediately sat up. "Who am I?"
"Hey, hey, it's okay," the other man said. "You've just been turned into a god; it might take a while to get used to it."
Something in Joel's stomach dropped, and the slightest wisp of this isn't what I wanted passed through him before dissolving, and he couldn't quite remember what it was he had just felt. "Oh."
"I'm your father," the blond man said, and he gave Joel a bright smile, teeth pearly white and straight. "You just turned 29 and I gifted you immortality for your birthday." In a playful voice, he said, "can't have five-year-old immortal gods, now can we? We often wait for the kids to grow up before stunting their growth."
Joel blinked rapidly, his thoughts and feelings like mush in his head. "I'm a god," he repeated, almost under his breath. Yes, that sounded about right. Almost. But who was he to question his father who just gifted him something like immortality? "Why can't I remember anything?"
His father patted Joel's shoulder comfortingly. "You spent all of your life down in the mortal world. When you arrive up in the god realm, your memories from down there are taken away so what you saw in the mortal world won't cause you pain. Don't worry, if you ever go back to visit the mortals, your memories will return."
Joel's eyes lit up. "Can I go back now?"
"Not a good idea," his father said with a sad shake of the head. "The mortal world is going through a tough time. Nearly all of them are dying."
"Can't anything be done?" Joel asked hopefully. While he had no memories of any mortals in his life or even walking among them, it felt wrong to not help them in any way he could. "Give them a sort of sanctuary?"
"If it would change anything, I would," his father sighed. "The Fates have foretold the Rapture would kill most of humanity. Anything the gods do would mean nothing."
"Most? You mean they'll be survivors?" Hope bloomed in Joel's chest.
Joel's father stood up. "Not many, but yes. Enough to repopulate the earth. Now, you should get some rest, son. I'm sure you'll be back on your feet in no time; then we can see what kinds of powers you wield."
~~~
Living with his father and the rest of the gods was exciting. He couldn't tell time passing as he met new people, and honed his thunder and lightning abilities. His father said only a couple of months passed, but it felt like days.
Whatever hesitancy he had previously felt about being immortal, he chalked up to weariness and thus promptly forgot about.
He enjoyed helping Peril with creating storm clouds for mortal farmers, and sparring with Jeremy among the clouds. Some of his favourite days were spent just hanging out with his father, accompanying him as he coloured the sky with a variety of shades he created in his home.
Still curious about the mortal world, Joel often asked his father how the mortals were faring down below. He wanted to visit to see if he could help in the aftermath of the Rapture. Joel could help move large debris or help close up cracks in the earth by filling them with boulders.
And, everytime, his father would say, "the mortals need to learn to care for themselves. If we always help them out when they are in times of trouble, they won't learn and evolve. It's better to visit when they're thriving, which is going to take a bit more time."
So Joel dropped the subject and continued on about his day until he would remember the mortals once more and bring it up again. It was a never-ending cycle, and Joel had no reason to think anything was amiss.
That is, until all the gods became translucent. Except for Joel.
"They're forgetting us; the mortals are forgetting us!" Peril exclaimed that day when all the gods gathered together to figure out what to do next.
Jeremy gestured to Joel, who was still solid. "Why isn't he being forgotten—he's our newest god! This doesn't make sense at all. No one could possibly remember him; he hasn't even been down to earth in his god form before."
Joel's father put two hands on Joel's shoulders, staring deeply into his eyes. "Joel, it is time. You must travel down to earth to help the mortals remember us. In our translucent forms, we are weakened and unable to travel there for long periods of time. I have no answers as to why you're not being forgotten, but we mustn't question it; you may not stay like this for much longer."
Joel swallowed the lump in his throat. He had no memories of ever being in the mortal realm before and, as such, it was practically a new experience. "Do we know how many mortals are still alive?"
His father shook his head. "We don't. You'll have to find them on your own. You must help the survivors remember and get them to give offerings to us; we're counting on you."
Joel didn't know how he could force mortals to worship the gods. He knew the capital he had come from was the main area where people believed in them, so he hoped descendents from his old hometown were still around. If not, and the survivors believed in different gods or no gods at all, Joel was going to have a tough time.
"I'll try my best," Joel said, and he managed a strained smile. Then, he descended down to the mortal world.
~~~
When Joel finally landed on solid ground, his head immediately felt like it was being split open by a cleaver. Instantly, he fell to his knees, gripping at his skull, and scrunching his eyes closed. Old memories came to him in waves, crashing into him like a tsunami, nausea rolling through him. His old bullies, his mother, his old home. His father giving him the option of immortality at a young age and gifting it to him later in life when Joel was on the brink of death.
Joel laid there for what seemed like hours, nursing his migraine and the rush of his mortal memories from who knew how long ago.
As the pain ebbed away, and Joel mentally sorted through his memory, he couldn't help but feel the anger burning within him. His father had forcefully turned him into an immortal god. He had lied about who Joel had once been. Did he want to save his father and the rest of the gods? Joel wasn't so sure anymore.
And so he walked. He had no idea where he was in the mortal realm—nothing looked familiar. Any sign of old architecture from his city or any of the other empires from his time were gone. Just how long had he been up in the god realm? His father had told him ten years, at the most, but Joel was beginning to think that that was just another lie. Chills ran through his body. Finally, as Joel was about to give up looking for civilization, he found a familiar hill. It was much grassier than he remembered, but it was the same one he remembered climbing as a young boy before the Greatbridge and his home came into view.
Joel crested the hill, and the familiar sight took over his senses. Tears formed in the corner of his eyes as the bridge's path led to the gatehouse. The bridge was cracked and looked worn, but it was still there. It was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. He couldn't believe that he was finally home.
Joel slowly made his way across the bridge, glancing down the side to see the water gently lapping at the stone pillars holding it up. The pillars were undecorated, probably destroyed in the Rapture or stolen by pirates.
He made his way through the gatehouse, the wooden doors already cracked open just slightly, before stopping in his tracks. Joel blinked at the scene in front of him. There were no buildings, just parts of the foundation roped off. Off in the distance, the froglight orchard grew wild. His home was…an archeological dig?
"Joel?" A voice asked, and Joel spun to the source, only to see a mortal man in a blue jacket and brown hair. "Is that really you?" The man looked awed, and he pulled off a pair of gloves, nearing Joel. "I didn't think I'd see you ever again."
It clicked, then. Why he wasn't being forgotten like the other gods. Pixlriffs had remembered him. "Pixlriffs?"
Pixlriffs chuckled. "The one and only."
"How long has it been? It looks like it's only been thirty years or something." Part of Joel was relieved that it hadn't been too long since he'd been gone. Pixlriffs had been quite young when Joel saved his life, and now he looked to be in his mid thirties. Maybe he had just arrived in the mortal world in a spot uninhabited by people. Maybe this was an archaeological dig sight because a landslide had covered the entirety of the town.
Pixlriffs went serious and he shook his head. "Joel, you've been gone for over 1000 years."
"1000 years?" Joel repeated. "But—but you're here. You're not an immortal god. This isn't possible. I must be dreaming."
"I can't explain it either," Pixlriffs said. "But, one day, I stopped aging. I don't know if I was always like this, or if it was a substance I touched or ate or if it was something else entirely. But Joel, it's been over 1000 years since you saved me. New empires have formed, and the others have no memory of the Rapture at all, only versions of it in their legends."
Joel's voice came out in a whisper as he said, "the gods are slowly fading away because nobody remembers them. I'm the only one not affected because you've remembered me."
Pixlriffs let this sink in. "Tell me about the gods," he finally said. "If I remember them, then they won't fade away. Still, you should find some villages too. Spread the knowledge around in case anything does happen to me. And," he added with a smile, "later, you can tell me what your ancient capital used to look like and I'll re-build it to its former glory."
And so Joel did. He told Pixlriffs about Peril and Jeremy and the other gods he had lived with for a thousand years without knowing. When he finally got to the god who painted the skies, with blond hair and blue eyes, and a nose like his own, Joel paused before making up his mind.
"And I'm the god of the skies and thunder and lightning."
~~~
Later, after Joel and Pixlriffs finally parted ways, Joel found himself in a grassy field in a village that had taken to his godhood quite easily. The sky was clear and, as Joel looked up at its endless blue, Joel pictured a sparkling marble empire in the sky.
He hadn't wanted to become immortal for the sole purpose of being with his mother, but she had died before the Rapture occured and there was no way to take it back. Now, the only way he could die was if he was erased from mortal's minds and wiped from history books. And Joel wasn't ready for that yet.
Joel exaggerated his feats and his traits to the people living in Lower Stratos; he didn't want to be forgotten. Memory was too precious to him—he would never go back to the god realm ever again. He wanted to make a name for himself here. Not only to prove the bullies who had picked on him wrong, but also for his mother who had always been there for him. Every morning to pep himself up for the new day, he told himself in the mirror he was strong. Both inside and out.
Son
It’s been a thousand years since her son died.
The world changed, the people changed, and she created no other child. Why should she? Having reached perfection once… why try again?
But here he was.
Standing before her, just as he’d always been.
This wasn’t the badlands, this wasn’t Mezalea-- but there was its king. He was dressed differently, wearing a short toga with a green sash. Still, there was her son… placing an armor stand in her jungle.
And then he was gone, disappeared off into the distance.
Not to his mesa, she’d checked. She knew the land’s new king--- the younger child of the ocean. But, just like her son, he was different.
She watched the strange item her son had given her.
She wrapped herself around it, placing life into its wooden bones, draping it in a cloak of the beautiful magenta of her son’s mesa.
‘Hermes,’ she whispered in his ear. ‘Son of Stratos, son of Sanctuary.’
“Father?” The protector held the child tight to his chest. Maybe, She decided, she could love her son’s beloved too.
It’s been a thousand years since her son died.
It’s been a moment since her grandson spoke.
Mezaleans don't have a concept of gender themselves, but they do understand that gender exists in other empires' cultures so they usually just pick whatever vibes they feel is their "gender". most of them prefer to just express themselves through fashion.
Welcome to
Empires SMP Descendants au
So first up is the good guys, aka the children of princesses and princes yada yada
First is Jimmy and Lizzie because they were easy. Their mother is Ariel. They inherited the ability to go between mermaid and human forms. Lizzie is known around school for her voice and willingness to help others that have not crossed her. Jimmy however is more reclusive, being the younger sibling that usually ends up hanging with Lizzie until he makes his own friends.
Next is Katherine. As everyone knows, fairies are born from dandelion fluff, but something went wrong. This fluff grew and grew until she became the size of a human baby, and was given to Pan, as he knew Tink. Obviously meant to be a garden fairy, she works well with flowers and trees, and can usually be found studying or talking down to her friends from the branches of her favourite tree on school grounds.
Joey, the heir of Belle and the Beast. He was raised to be perfect, and gets upset when things don't go his way. He may have a crush on one of the Frost twins, but we don't have to talk about that. He has quite the rivalry with-
Shrub, daughter of Alice. Too many shrinking and enlarging cakes and drinks led to a daughter who only comes to about half the height of a typical human, but she finds her way around. Shrub has affinity for magic, especially mushrooms, left over from Alice's trips to Wonderland. She works with Katherine to hone this ability.
Next are Scott and Xornoth, the twin children of the infamous Jack Frost. Many people questioned if they should be on the villian isle or not, given the morally grey nature of their father, but The Beast spoke up for the two, and they were raised along with the others. Scott does not find his icey powers to be a blessing, tending to repress them out of fear or hurting his friends, while Xornoth embraces his. Each has their own skills however, so do not underestimate either of these two.
The last of these students are Gem and fWhip, children raised by the mysterious Dreamfinder. Raised under the wings of a dragon, with magic and machine surrounding them every moment of their lives, Gen grew into a fine wizard, working to one day apprentice under the infamous Merlin, while fWhip works to build contraptions never seen before. Each seems blessed by the dragon, Figment, and this manifests in different ways for each.
Next are the Villains, those raised on the Isle of the Lost.
Sausage, the son of the King and Queen of Hearts. He is bloodthirsty, all hidden behind a smile so pearly white you'd think nothing evil of him. Due to a mysterious magic user, he became friends with two kids when younger, but as the trio grew older, they realized who each other was, and all ties were cut off. He hopes to reunite with his friends he knows are on the other side of this barrier, and he will stop at nothing to have them back.
Joel, son of Gaston, enemy to Joey. Dressing in bright colours common to the Isle, he dyes part of his hair green to rebell against his father. Despite him, he has grown to be the perfect prince, if he only has the chance to make it out of this damned prison. He has found a few friends, and hopes to keep them close in his rose to princehood.
Pearl resents her father, Clayton, for what he attempted to do, and has tried to make amends with whatever thing is out that that dictates their fate. She grows fresh vegetables in a window sill, helps other villian kids gets good food, and protects animals. She is most certainly able to weird a gun or sword, deadly with both, and there is very little that keeps her from fleeing her father any moment she can. She just needs the chance.
Finally, Pix, son of Jafar, raised to be diplomatic and do whatever it takes to succeed. Of course, that doesn't mean that's what he does. With an odd fascination with copper and raw emerald, he collects these gems, and keeps them away from Jafar, in case he sells them or keeps them in his own horde of useless wealth on the Isle. Maybe he will one day leave, and be free to help people the way he knows he can, only if given the chance.
If you have any suggestions or questions, please ask, I'd love to go more in depth or explore plot points.
Crash Course: The History of Dream SMP Season One
So...
You want to get into the Dream SMP, but oh no! There’s eight months of extensive and event-filled history to catch up on, and dozens of highlight videos to watch that don’t always include everything, and pages upon pages of detailed Wiki articles...where do you start!?
Well, I’ve created this to summarize the events of Dream SMP Season One into a single post as a sort of “narrative timeline.”
I’ve also included the dates of the events to the best of my ability, so that everything is in (mostly) chronological order.
I’d highly recommend also checking out the Wiki for more detailed descriptions of the big events if you’re interested.
Happy one-month anniversary of the Grand Finale!
Enjoy!
---
Note: Some dates, but not all, are taken from VOD upload dates, and Tommy’s VODs are usually uploaded a day later than initial broadcast, so they may be slightly inaccurate. Dates marked with * are the dates the VOD was uploaded, in cases where I am unsure of the original broadcast date.
---
The Early Days
April 25th:
The SMP started out as an ordinary survival server, and was often referred to as “the survival world” on early Dream Team streams. The first eight members to join the SMP were: Dream, George, Sapnap, Badboyhalo, Ponk, Alyssa, Callahan and Sam, though Sam took a hiatus until the events of the Election Arc. The Community House was the first thing to be built in the center of a lake.
It was in this period that Beckerson and Mars were named from donos (the various named knicknacks in the Community House are also from donos), Dream tamed a white horse named Spirit, and Sam tamed Fran. There were also several other various pets like dogs and foxes that were tamed by the members.
Some notable events from this period include: the construction of the Court House (and subsequently Sapnap and George’s murder trials there), Dream building the wooden path, George texting Dream’s mother, Sapnap’s Famous Storytime Stream (in which Spirit died due to mobs), and the burning of Ponk’s first Lemon Tree due to a conflict with George.
There was also a running joke that Callahan and Alyssa were dating (they aren’t)
Tommy’s Arrival
Tommy joins July 4th. Tubbo arrives shortly after, with Fundy a day after Tubbo.
The day of Tommy’s arrival:
Tommy joins the SMP. His first day, George and Dream get him to stand on a crafting table and he subsequently murders George and takes from the Community House chests. Dream and George put Tommy on trial in the Court House. After a brief manhunt, Tommy is banished 2,500 blocks away (the first of three exiles) in the snow and is ordered to stay there. He fails to comply and is briefly banned before Dream lets him back on. He chooses to settle on a hill next to Ponk’s Lemon Tree.
The Disc War: Start of the Disc Saga
Taking place from July 9th* - July 11th*, though there were various events/conflicts relating to the discs that happened before and after this time.
After listening to two discs, Cat and Mellohi, with Tubbo on a bench while watching the sunset (VOD: July 8th*), Tommy considers the two discs to be his most prized possessions.
This event is considered the first major war of the server, and the Disc Saga would continue to have developments throughout the rest of Season One.
The events of the first Disc War began due to another conflict between Sapnap, Ponk and Alyssa. Punz and Tubbo were also involved. Tommy ended up siding with Sapnap, and much vandalism and fighting happened before Dream logged on with the intention to stop it.
Tommy and Sapnap murder Dream, and Dream steals Tommy’s discs in return, threatening to burn them unless Tommy returns his gear. Tommy, Tubbo and Sapnap end up combining forces to murder Dream and take back the discs, which Tommy hides under his base. Dream spends time off stream digging up the entirety of Tommy’s land in search of them.
The rest of the Disc War proceeds with Tommy and Tubbo working repeatedly to take back the discs from Dream. It only ends when Tommy crafts an Ender Chest to put the discs in.
This was also around the time that Fundy’s Socializing Club was built, which later led to a brief conflict taking place there.
(It was also during this time in the middle of the Disc War that Wilbur joined a call with Tommy and asked Dream out on a date to Pizza Hut, with Tommy speaking in game chat as Wilbur’s wingman. Dream says yes, George gets jealous on Twitter, and the infamous Vlog plot starts. It would go on from July to October.)
Schlatt and Wilbur
July 12th: During a short conflict between Tommy and Tubbo over the death of Tubbo’s pet bee, Tommy burns down Tubbo’s house. Wilbur logs onto the server to act as Tommy’s lawyer.
On July 17th, Schlatt gets whitelisted on the server without Dream’s knowledge and Tommy spends a day with his idol. The SMPLive Cuck Shed is recreated in Dream SMP, and Tommy listens to the disc Blocks with Schlatt. People trend #kickschlatt on Twitter. Both Wilbur and Schlatt log off the server “permanently,” Wilbur by choice and Schlatt by banning (as Dream didn’t know who he was). Tommy gains ownership of Wilbur’s ball house.
Also worth mentioning is Eret joining July 19th.
The L’manburg War for Independence (aka “Revolution”)
This was a relatively short but very consequential arc, taking place from July 24th to August 2nd, a little over a week in total. It is the second major war of the server, and the first to be faction-based.
July 24th: Wilbur joins the server again.
He decides to start an empire with Tommy. He builds the Camarvan (aka “hto dog van”) in a remote part of the woods and recruits Tommy to help create artificial scarcity in the server’s drug market by stealing everyone’s blaze rods. This isn’t taken too kindly by other members, especially Sapnap. One thing leads to another and they decide to mark out a tiny square in the woods to declare as an independent country. Tubbo joins them, and he and Tommy sing “Hallelujah” to a tilled patch of dirt (this melody would later become the L’manburg National Anthem). They also recruit Eret to help build. They decide on a name: L’manburg, and also don revolutionary skins.
Dream comes over, displeased by this, and declares war. His side consists of Dream, George, Sapnap and Punz, though the L’manburgians attempted to convince George to their side due to his Britishness.
Eret builds the walls, Fundy joins the revolution after logging in within the walls and being very confused, Wilbur claims Fundy as his son. Tommy constructs a fight club beneath his house and, after poorly speaking Dutch to Fundy, goes down the path placing signs in various languages saying “the green bastard shall die!” as propaganda to Dream’s viewers of various nationalities.
July 31st:
Dream and Sapnap log on during one of Dream’s streams, inspect the area, and go through a multi-step plan to demoralize the L’manburgians: they burn down all the trees around their land, lavacast a huge cobblestone wall just outside, construct obsidian TNT cannons around the walls, and fire several TNT blasts into the country, destroying part of the hotdog van’s roof. George joins the call, gets filled in on what’s been happening, and assists in the chaos. Eret, the only L’manburgian online, is helpless and can only meekly protest in game chat. As a final message, Dream and Sapnap set fire to Tubbo’s house (the second time) and Dream gives his famous “white flags” ultimatum.
August 1st:
The ultimatum’s war date was pushed back a day due to Twitter drama. The final evening before war, Dream, after doing his serious stream, logs onto the server and blows up Tommy’s land with TNT, exploding part of the beloved Cuck Shed. Wilbur, in VC, tells Tommy to return the favor to Dream, but instead, Tommy chooses not to fight fire with fire. Impressed, Wilbur makes Tommy his right hand man. Eret joins Dream’s side around this time.
August 2nd:
The day of war comes. Dream’s side goes to Tubbo’s jungle base to kill Tubbo repeatedly. There’s a brief conflict at the Power Tower. Wilbur logs on - the L’manburg side is grossly underprepared. They meet at the Embassy and exchange fire with the Dream SMP members. After Dream seems to retreat, Eret suggests they return to L’manburg, saying he has a “secret weapon:” Eret has been grinding for items.
He leads them down a long tunnel into a blackstone “Final Control Room.” The chests are empty, and Tommy pushes a button in the middle of the room, wondering what its function is. The redstone doors slide open and Dream’s men ambush and kill all of them, leaving them with nothing.
After speaking with Wilbur, who refuses surrender, Dream returns to L’manburg and lights a piece of TNT at the entrance, triggering tons of TNT that had been laid beneath the ground beforehand to ignite. Tommy leads everyone into a final bunker. As one last chance at independence, Tommy challenges Dream to a bow duel for Mellohi. George and Wilbur have a short exchange in which they reflect on their Pizza Hut Date, wondering how they could end up like this, with their men fighting each other on opposite sides. Wilbur tells George he should have been on their side as a British person. Eret too.
Tommy and Dream take ten paces and fire at each other on the Prime Path.
Tommy loses the duel.
Instead of giving up just Mellohi, though, Tommy asks Dream if he could give up Cat as well in return for “technical independence.” Dream agrees. Wilbur declares independence again, putting himself as President, Tommy as Vice President, and Tubbo as Secretary of State. Eret, meanwhile, is declared king of the Dream SMP.
YOOOOOOOOOOOO...you know the rest.
Jack Manifold is whitelisted. It’s a silver-lining ending.
Post-War Period General Events
August 3rd (?), VOD uploaded August 6th*:
On Jack’s first day, Dream attempts to bribe Jack onto his side with riches, real money, and books containing secret codes. Jack decides to act as a double agent.
VOD uploaded August 7th*:
Fundy and Eret continue their pranks. Eret builds his two towers to watch over L’manburg - Fundy completely destroyed the first of them, which is why Eret’s towers are now reinforced with obsidian. That same stream where Fundy “shrank” the tower was where Tommy and Jack first heard the tale of Fundy’s heritage. Fundy explained that his mother was a salmon (they came up with the name “Sally”) and that she was an accountant who raised him the best she could. Tommy and Jack are understandably weirded out by this.
August 6th:
Niki is also whitelisted and joins the server. The original Camarvan is torn down, and Wilbur introduces the first version of the L’manburg National Anthem.
The Drug Park Trivia Contest
August 9th:
Due to L’manburg needing more funds, Wilbur, Tommy and Tubbo get together and create a drug park business to attract drug dealers and women. They see four chickens hanging out near some gravel and name them Clementine, Clementine, Clementine and Clementine, deciding that gravel must attract women. PPA (Ponk-Purpled-Alyssa) signs a trade agreement with L’manburg.
The drug park attracts a confused Dream, who wanders around through the alleyways. Dream gets scammed and then scams them back, so Wilbur challenges Dream to a trivia contest.
August 10th:
Fundy takes off his revolutionary outfit and he and Wilbur get into a brief argument over it. Eret continues to build his second tower. Wilbur asked Tommy and Tubbo to prepare the trivia questions together, but while Tubbo had researched real trivia, Tommy put in bullshit questions that were later removed from the point score.
Dream loses the trivia contest and jumps off a cliff.
The Disc Saga: Showbiz Business
 August 13th*:
After Tommy, Tubbo, Thunder, Skeppy and Fundy give a performance of Hamilton and Macbeth to Dream, gaining Dream’s favor, Skeppy tells Tommy he has Spirit’s leather. Tommy, seeing an opportunity to use Dream’s sentimental attachment to get Dream on his good side, asks Skeppy for the leather. Instead, Skeppy trades the leather back to Dream in return for one of the discs. Tommy gets Quackity in a VC to try and intimidate Skeppy (Quackity fails), then asks for Quackity to be whitelisted. Dream whitelists Quackity.
This was also around the time that Fundy kidnapped Punz’s bee, Beenis, and was put on trial, resulting in the birth of Tubbo’s alter ego: Big Law. This would come into play during the Pet War.
The Cartel
August 17th:
Quackity joins the server.
He is initially not allowed to join L’manburg.
He and Tommy start the Cartel together, going on a heist and cracking jokes about John Lennon. This is an overarching scheme over the course of several streams. Tommy ends up building a summer house for himself in the hills, and constructs a drug lab in its basement which he uses with Quackity to attempt a drug scheme.
August 28th*:
Later, after Tommy finishes his summer home and names the several cows who live there, Quackity kidnaps the one named Henry and threatens his life, as he feels that Tommy has become too attached to Henry and is no longer dedicated to the Cartel. Quackity forces Tommy to play a sick trivia game show where if he gets an answer wrong, a cow dies. Tommy asks Tubbo for help, but Tubbo sides with Quackity for the drama. The conflict ends in violence, but Henry is still alive.
Tommy and Wilbur Revive the Server
August 19th*:
Tommy, concerned that the SMP is dying due to Tubbo not being online, calls in Wilbur and Quackity for a chill stream. He and Wilbur rebuild the Camarvan very, very poorly, turning it into a monstrosity of a dirt-bug held together by cobblestone. This wasn’t very consequential, I just included it to explain how the Camarvan ended up looking like That.
The Disc Saga: Railway Skirmish
August 23rd*:
One day, Tommy was hanging around at his summer home. He hops in a minecart and accidentally runs Dream over. Dream uses the /kill command as a funny way to mess with Tommy (and the audience), causing him to die and lose all his stuff. Dream hadn’t been expecting Tommy to take advantage of it. Unbeknownst to Tommy, Tubbo runs in and snatches Dream’s prized sword, hiding it underground.
Tommy and Tubbo realize that with all of Dream’s gear in their possession, they finally have the high ground, and try and use that high ground to trade Dream for the disc. Wilbur joins and questions Tommy about why they’re trying to cause conflict, as L’manburg can’t afford to fight another war so soon. Wilbur orders them to return Dream’s things and apologize. Dream doesn’t give Tommy the disc, but does trade Tommy for Spirit’s leather in return for his stuff back. Tommy tries and fails to trade Skeppy the leather for the disc. He and Sapnap also then team up to kill Dream, but Sapnap betrays Tommy after being threatened and Tommy never succeeds in getting a disc back.
Tubbo reveals to Tommy afterwards that he’d hidden Dream’s sword, and they’d successfully kept it: they now have leverage.
Church Prime
August 24th:
Tommy and Dream put their differences aside for one day and start a religion together after plugging Twitch Prime for twenty minutes straight, to Tubbo’s disapproval. Quackity assists as well. The Vape Tower and Holy Land are created. Dream levitates into the air and /kill’s himself, then gets resurrected. One of the funniest streams the SMP’s ever had.
Church Prime has been born!
The Disc Saga: Spirit Scam / Start of the Pet War
August 27th*:
Tommy is enraged by Sapnap killing one of his beloved cows, Harold. He griefs Sapnap’s house and also informs Niki that her pet, a little fox named Fungi, was also killed by Sapnap. Niki is furious. She, Tommy and Tubbo kidnap Mars and Beckerson with the intentions of holding them for ransom as revenge. Dream, concerned about this, tries to reason with them. He can’t let Mars and Beckerson die at any cost.
While the sides make their threats, Dream locks up the jukebox room in Tommy’s house with obsidian and starts playing the real Mellohi to taunt them out of cockiness. Tubbo and Tommy manage to snatch Mellohi and put it in an ender chest. Dream, realizing he’d screwed up, names a fake Mellohi disc “Tommy’s Disc” and tries to convince them that that was the real one.
After plenty of scamming involving Dream’s sword, Spirit, Mellohi, the fish, and a confusing switcheroo, Tommy ends up with the real Mellohi and the real Spirit, while Dream keeps Beckerson and Mars in his possession. Niki just wanted an apology.
The Pet War
August 29th*:
After taking a brief recess from the SMP, Fundy logs on and starts to catch up on what he’s missed. He’s confused by Church Prime, but is more concerned with chat spamming “RIP Fungi.” He doesn’t believe it at first, but sees Fungi’s grave in L’manburg and calls Niki, who tells him what happened. Furious, he says that Sapnap must pay.
He asks Dream for Mars, but Dream is unwilling to give her to him. Instead, Dream leads Fundy and Niki to the dog house and show them the pets. He tells them that Skechers is Sapnap’s fox, but they didn’t hear it from him. As he is unable to kill one of his own kind, Fundy asks Niki to murder it with a pickaxe.
After a scavenger hunt stream with George, Dream tells Sapnap what happened. Sapnap, enraged, kills Niki’s animals and Fundy’s enderman pet. The Dream Team hide their remaining animals off screen.
August 31st*:
Fundy gets Beenis and a beehive at Tubbo’s base and offers to play a cruel game with Punz in which Punz chooses to spare one of the beenests while the other is thrown into fire. Punz decides that choosing is better than leaving Beenis in an enderchest and chooses. They place down the spared beenest but no bee comes out. Tommy and Tubbo arrive in full armor, looking ominously at Punz. Fundy explains the situation to them, favoring his side of the story, and Tommy and Tubbo defend him as one of their own. Fundy has started a war.
September 1st:
Fundy and Niki get a pet bee named Beelloon. They hide it in an obsidian box to keep it safe. They also locate Sapnap’s pets based on small details in the background of George’s stream.
Sapnap and Punz arrive one day after a Twitch Rivals tournament and force Fundy to watch as they explode Fungi’s grave with TNT. Fundy says they should end the fighting for good with a duel: one vs. one, Sapnap and Fundy.
September 10th:
Fundy builds a scaled-down version of Technoblade and Dream’s arena just behind his base. Tubbo referees the duel between Fundy and Sapnap. Fundy loses. Sapnap takes Niki’s fish and starts to play the same game with Fundy, but stops at the last second - it’s not worth stoking up the fires of war again. He congratulates Fundy on being a worthy competitor and leaves after returning the fish to Fundy. The Pet War ends there.
The Election
September 3rd*:
Tubbo and Fundy get into an argument that threatens to tear L’manburg apart in Civil War. Tommy, while Wilbur isn’t online, is the one left in charge of diffusing the conflict, which he does successfully. The next day (September 4th*), Wilbur logs back on and Tommy fills him in on what he’s missed. They decide that they need to consolidate power, and choose to hold a rigged election where they’re the only party that can be voted for. Quackity, after learning this, states that he’ll be running as well to prevent their dictatorship, declaring his campaign “SWAG2020.” This throws a wrench in Wilbur and Tommy’s plans. Wilbur and Tommy’s party is renamed “POG2020.”
September 9th*:
The Presidential debate is held in Tubbo’s King’s Court. Quackity reveals that Georgenotfound is his running mate. Tommy attempts a smear campaign against him, then later accepts bribery from Karl, who was overseeing the debate. Tubbo takes Karl’s spot to be less biased. Fundy states that he wants to run for president as well. September 15th, Tommy gains Sapnap’s vote by publicly denouncing Fundy, telling him that if Wilbur weren’t Fundy’s father, Fundy would be kicked out of L’manburg. The following days, they hold a few more rallies, sing a duet of Let it Go, and Wilbur, Tommy and Quackity construct the White House while speaking Spanish. This is also the birth of “Tubbox.”
September 20th:
They hold one last rally where the parties show off their endorsements. POG2020 is endorsed by Vikkstar. Georgenotfound is a no-show. Everyone wonders where he is, with one of the running theories being that he’s off editing the Vlog. Fundy and Niki announce their campaign: COCONUT2020.
Tommy and Wilbur have one last endorsement up their sleeve: Schlatt logs onto the server. He’s been unbanned. Instead of endorsing POG2020, however, he accidentally endorses COCONUT2020 and then decides to run his own candidacy, SCHLATT2020. Violence breaks out, Tommy, Wilbur and Quackity all escape underground. Wilbur and Tommy offer to combine votes with Quackity, but Quackity refuses after they reveal the offer is conditional on their own defeat. Instead, Quackity decides to partner with Schlatt.
Also worth mentioning is the fact that Wilbur asked for Tommy’s Mellohi disc, the real one, to keep until they’d won the election. Tommy gives it to him.
Schlatt’s Inauguration
September 21st:
HBomb is added to the server. Wilbur gets on the podium and states the election results: POG2020 won the popular vote by 45%, but was beaten out by the combined vote total of SCHLATT2020 and SWAG2020 of 46%, making Schlatt the President and Quackity the Vice President. Schlatt designates Tubbo as his right-hand man, still Secretary of State.
Schlatt’s decrees are as follows, given throughout the rest of the stream: Tommy and Wilbur’s citizenship is revoked, the walls are torn down, L’manburg is renamed to Manberg.
Tommy and Wilbur escape into the woods (Tommy’s second exile) and Technoblade offers them assistance. Technoblade logs onto the server and they find a ravine to make a barracks in: Pogtopia.
Tommy and Wilbur then go to negotiate with Schlatt for a one-day visa to L’manburg for Ninja’s visit. Schlatt agrees to it.
Ninja’s Visit
September 25th*:
Ninja visits and streams with Tommy for a day. He ends up getting married to Georgenotfound and using their marriage to get the Pogtopians an extended visa without Schlatt’s knowledge.
Pet War II: Battle of the Lake
Sapnap and Karl, who were engaged to marry with a wooden Eiffel Tower as their honeymoon spot, attempt to kidnap Henry. Instead, Sapnap accidentally kills Henry with fall damage.
October 5th:
Tommy is beyond enraged at the death of Henry, and goes to grief Skeppy’s property with Niki while he’s grieving. Dream joins and helps Tommy lavacast the Eiffel Tower. They attempt to frame Badboyhalo for this, which starts a new conflict and a battle between Skeppy and Bad against Dream and Tommy.
Sapnap logs on, Tommy confronts him, and Sapnap eats Henry’s corpse. Antfrost also joins in on Bad and Skeppy’s side. The fight continues, and Dream and Tommy escape into the wilderness together and a chase ensues. Niki is taken hostage.
Dream decides to entrust Tommy with one of the most valuable pets on the server: Mars. Tommy must never, under any circumstances, harm her. Tommy tells Sapnap he has Mars, but Sapnap doesn’t believe Dream would trust Tommy with such a thing at first.
Everyone heads to Pogtopia. Tommy gives his famous “I have the Blade” line and Technoblade logs on. Dream also joins Techno and Tommy’s side. They declare it the Battle of the Lake after a tiny pond next to Tommy’s Intimidation Tower. Punz swaps sides mid battle, and Dream, Tommy and Techno overpower the opposing side, claiming victory.
Dreamon Hunters
October 7th:
Tubbo and Fundy want to create some chaos, but their targets keep logging off and foiling their plans. Eventually, Dream logs on, and that’s when they get the idea to perform an exorcism on Dream. They get Dream to Skeppy’s Mansion and perform a complicated ritual, ending with them logging out and then back in again, and Dream exploding TNT, killing himself and also Tubbo in the blast. After this exorcism, Dream seems...different. He says he wants to be a builder, he wants to hug Technoblade, and his IQ is...75!
Tubbo and Fundy think at first that they’ve successfully removed the Dreamon, but after performing a test with an iron door, everything goes sour. In a last effort to get Dream back to normal, Fundy recreates his marriage proposal scene with Dream. Dream ascends into the air, explodes, and all seems to go back to normal...until DreamXD logs on.
October 15th:
In a second stream, Tubbo and Fundy get their proper Dreamon Hunter outfits, set up a base of operations on the beach near the Mansion, and recruit Sapnap to assist them.
The Festival
VOD uploaded October 10th*:
Tommy has an idea to connect the Prime Path from Pogtopia all the way to Dream SMP, but accidentally reveals Tubbo’s tunnel to Quackity in the process. This leads to a split between Tommy and Wilbur, in which Wilbur snaps and tells Tommy that this is why he isn’t the President and never will be.
Schlatt comes on. He ignores the tunnels, but announces something new: The official Manberg Festival, a celebration of democracy and freedom. With this announcement, Wilbur starts to have doubts about his intentions. Why should he want to go against someone who was democratically elected, hosting fun events for the citizens? Wilbur has a realization: he’s the villain. A few minutes pass, and he’s completely gone, slipping into paranoia about everyone’s loyalties as he starts to distrust that even Tubbo is on his side. He has a plan to blow the entire place up with TNT, and asks Dream to help.
At the end of the day, Tubbo and Tommy have a moment by the bench. Tubbo reveals to Tommy that he’d been given a Mellohi disc by Wilbur, who had also given a copy to Tommy as well. They question why Wilbur would give them both copies of Mellohi, and try to hide the truth about the disc. Tubbo says he probably has the real one.
In the coming days, Tubbo and Fundy help create the decorations. Fundy, meanwhile, has been questioning his loyalties. He wonders what Tommy and Wilbur ever really did for the country in their administration.
October 16th:
The day of the Festival arrives. Everyone, including Technoblade, has been invited except for Wilbur and Tommy. Techno joins in with the party activities, and it’s a joyous day. Tommy and Wilbur wait on the roof, and have a brief conversation with Tubbo before the moment arrives. Wilbur accuses Tubbo of being a yes-man, explains that there’s a key phrase in the speech to activate the TNT. There are twenty pieces of TNT beneath Schlatt’s chair alone.
He puts Tubbo in charge of making the final decision of whether Manberg stays or falls. It’s up to Tubbo to say the line. As the party settles, Tubbo goes up to give his speech. He says it, Schlatt prompts him for more, and Tubbo says the line. Wilbur and Tommy hop down to press the button, but Schlatt gives a little chuckle. He and Quackity start trapping Tubbo in concrete, keeping him in Schlatt’s chair while everyone looks on in confusion. Wilbur and Tommy pause – they can’t detonate the TNT with Tubbo in the blast radius. Schlatt reveals that he’d known about Tubbo’s spying all along, and calls up Technoblade for a favor.
Schlatt orders Technoblade to execute Tubbo. A few shots from Techno’s rocket launcher, and the deed is done. Techno then turns and massacres the crowd as Tommy pearls onto the podium and Wilbur searches around for the button, which he’d lost. Wilbur confronts Schlatt in order to defend Niki, but Schlatt orders Niki’s death and everyone runs back to Pogtopia.
Tommy is fuming at Technoblade, and the two have a short fist fight in a combat pit to settle their differences. Tommy loses, but his rage still remains. Techno tells him that the only universal language is violence, and now that they’ve settled that issue, it’s time to move on.
October 19th:
A few days after the festival, Tommy comes online and overhears an argument between Quackity and Schlatt over the destruction of the White House. Quackity snaps at Schlatt, shoots him, and runs off into the forest while Schlatt tears the building down. Tommy meets with him, and Quackity is recruited into the rebellion. Wilbur comes on and gets filled in. Wilbur also reveals that he’d found the button room off stream, and shows it to Tommy and Quackity. He only needed two witnesses. Tommy and Quackity trap Wilbur into the corner before he can press it, though, and talk him down into taking another approach for now.
The Meeting
November 2nd:
It’s Niki’s birthday party. A fun-filled gathering hosted by Karl at his new Haunted Mansion, featuring several members of the SMP. Wilbur and Quackity are both there, and hang around after the party to sing love-hate songs to one another while playing the guitar. After Quackity sings one last song to Wilbur, though, things turn south. Wilbur tells Quackity that he’s going to blow up Manberg, and Quackity is going to watch. Everyone runs to Manberg in a panic as Wilbur starts playing the chords to Hallelujah. He begins to sing the L’manburg National Anthem in preparation, but Quackity manages to convince him not to do it. Wilbur gives Quackity an ultimatum: set up a meeting with Schlatt by the coming Friday, or Manberg gets blown to smithereens.
November 6th:
Friday comes. Quackity and Schlatt have a meeting in which Quackity attempts to trick Schlatt into signing away his presidency. Schlatt doesn’t fall for it. He, Quackity and Tommy wander through the woods while Wilbur makes his way to the button. But Schlatt reveals that he’d found out about the Button Room, and he’d disconnected the button’s redstone and moved the TNT somewhere else.
Coincidentally, Fundy had just done a massive prank marathon the day before, and one of his many pranks was to fill Pogtopia to the brim with buttons…loads, and loads, of buttons.
Everyone meets in Pogtopia. Badboyhalo arrives as well, and Fundy comes to reveal his Spy’s Diary, a book of information he’d collected on Schlatt throughout the entire administration with details on Schlatt’s deteriorating health. Wilbur starts to realize that instead of no one being on their side, everyone was on their side. Just as he comes to that idea, though, Dream joins the call and there’s another reveal: a traitor in their midst. Wilbur and Dream agree to end things for good on November 16th: the final war for L’manburg’s fate.
Pet War III: The Panda Skirmish
November 5th:
While in the jungle, Punz finds a panda and Sapnap helps retrieve it, saying that if anyone touches the panda, who they named Dumptruck, it would be a battle.
Once they get back, though, Antfrost, with assistance from Badboyhalo, attempts to steal the panda for the animal sanctuary. During the movement of the panda around from place to place as Punz and Sapnap attempt to get it back, the panda dies due to Punz’ armor enchantments. They blame the Badlands for the panda’s death, as if they hadn’t tried to steal it, the panda would still be alive.
As things break out into all-out war, Sam joins the fray to help the Badlands. Sapnap threatens Fran, saying Fran would not be able to come back if the dog died.
The battle ends in the victory of the Dream SMP members, and the defeat of the Badlands.
Pet War IV: The Final Pet War
November 15th:
The night before the final war, Tommy and Sapnap finally have their confrontation about Sapnap stealing Tommy’s horse, Juorse, not too long before.
Tommy and Techno meet with Sapnap. Sapnap, surprisingly, advocates for talking out the conflict instead of immediately breaking out into fighting. All he wanted was Mars back.
They meet at the Community House and negotiate. While Sapnap returned Juorse to Tommy, however, Tommy refused to give up Mars. Sapnap killed Juorse in retaliation, angering Tommy. Tommy runs away, while Dream and George join the server with the intention to kill Sapnap for an unexplained reason.
 After a chase, Tommy is led to Sapnap’s secret base and shown his remaining pets. Sapnap tells Tommy to kill them. Tommy, refusing to stoop to Sapnap’s pet-killing level, says no. To settle the conflict, Sapnap and Tommy agree to a duel at Eret’s museum. Sapnap wins very quickly. While Tommy is being made fun of by the others, though, Sapnap is gracious and does not. He respects Tommy as an opponent, and the two go off on their own to talk.
Tommy tells Sapnap that all the Pet Wars have to end, for good this time. He says Sapnap has to let go of Mars. If he truly loves Mars, and doesn’t want to see her passed around as a bargaining chip forever, she should be freed.
Sapnap, though saddened, agrees, and they set Mars free at the shore, watching her swim out to sea.
Free at last.
The Manberg-Pogtopia War: Finale of Season One
November 16th:
It’s war day. All hell is about to break loose. Dawn of the finale.
Tubbo logs on to prepare, and ends up getting stalked and killed by Dream. Dream allows him to retrieve his items, though – it was just a show of strength.
Quackity and Tubbo share a few moments of reflection together. They discuss who could possibly be the traitor. They both suspect Tommy.
On top of Ponk’s tower, they make a promise to each other. At the count of ten, they would stand opposite each other with the Eye blocking their view, and would, at the same time, take a step to one side. Towards the city if they would stay and fight, and towards the forest if they would run. The count reaches zero: they both step to the side to fight.
Tubbo starts to question if this is all just history repeating itself, if every war since the Disc War is just bound to end in defeat.
Karl attempts to bribe pretty much everyone on the Pogtopia side to join Manberg, with little success.
Eret is confronted by Dream, who asks him where his power comes from. Eret says respect, but Dream says the only reason Eret is king is because of an axe and a shield: the people who fight in his name. Dream warns Eret to stay neutral, sit on his throne and look pretty. Eret decides to betray, and Dream revokes his kingship. In Eret’s place he puts George, fulfilling his promise from the first L’manburg war. George is pleased, and then goes off to continue building a little mushroom house for himself, which would of course go on to become a vital plot point of Season Two.
Eret joins the Pogtopians (minus Tommy and Wilbur) at Manberg. They head to a little spot by the sea and set up a board to discuss who is on their side, and who is not. Meanwhile, Tommy and Wilbur log on together. Tommy protects the L’mantree in a wall of obsidian, and beneath the Power Tower, Tommy plays the disc Mellohi and Wilbur rants, threatening to blow up the country.
Everyone meets in Pogtopia. Wilbur has also started to give out blue dye, which he calls “blue.” Techno leads them all to his secret base and the vault beneath, revealing all the items he’d grinded for. Everyone stocks up on supplies, but they didn’t realize that the Netherite armor was full of useless enchantments that Techno had put on it to disguise the truth: that he was planning on fighting them all along.
Everyone then charges across Tommy’s bridge to Manberg and ascends Eret’s second tower to shoot down on the Manbergians. The fight continues on the ground, ending with Dream asking Wilbur to talk. It was time to negotiate for Manberg’s surrender.
He leads everyone to Schlatt, who was hiding out in the Camarvan completely drunk. Everyone gathers around Schlatt as he gives his last words, last rants, and then abruptly dies of a heart attack or stroke. Everyone is surprised, but uneasily happy.
Wilbur makes Tommy the President. Tommy goes up on the podium to give a speech, but says he can’t be the President right now: he still has a Disc War with Dream to fight. Instead, he makes Wilbur the President.
Wilbur gives a speech, but says he can’t be President as well. Instead, he gives the Presidency to Tubbo. (This is the point where, on Philza’s Hardcore stream, he tunes in to hear Tubbo’s speech)
Tubbo gives a speech and actually accepts the Presidency. Wilbur says he’ll be right back and heads off, causing Phil some concern. Wilbur heads to the button room, Phil realizes what’s going on, and Phil scrambles to get on the server, desperate to stop his son.
During Tubbo’s speech, Dream messages Techno, pointing out that Techno is anti-government. Techno doesn’t like how this is going, and decides to assassinate Tubbo with his rocket launcher, causing panic. A fight breaks out.
Tommy and the others are told by Dream that there is a traitor: the traitor is Wilbur. Everyone realizes in horror that Wilbur is nowhere to be seen.
Wilbur is confronted in the button room by Phil. He gives a short speech before giving his final line: “It was never meant to be,” and presses the button. Manberg goes up in a blast. Afterwards, as Tommy and the others watch, Wilbur begs Phil to kill him, and Phil does.
Techno tells Tommy the tale of Theseus and spawns two withers.
“Do you want to be a hero, Tommy? Then die like one!”
Wilbur respawns, wanders around the SMP, has a short moment at Eret’s museum and then returns to Manberg, at which point he gets attacked by a wither. He decides to end stream, and declares Tubbo the President of a crater.
In the aftermath of the final battle, everyone surveys the damage. Tubbo creates his new cabinet, Techno and Phil speak with one another as well.
Tommy, Tubbo and Dream all agree to a moment of truce as they listen to a disc at the bench together, sitting side by side.
With that, Season One draws to a close.
It’s not the end.
Just a new beginning.
---
...And that’s about it for now!
Season One of the Dream SMP was a half-year-long wild ride to experience, full of countless fond memories and all-around good times.
Here’s to what comes next!
I hope you enjoyed!
Empires SMP headcanons
fWhip and Sausage are the only real humans on the server. Scott, Gem, and Pearl are elves, Jimmy’s a swamp cryptid, Joel is a living terracotta statue, Lizzie’s an axolotl hybrid, Pix is an old god, Joey is a totem deity (think Foolish from Dream SMP), Katherine is some kind of cat fey being and Shubble is a gnome.
Magic comes very easily to elves and so all the elven members of the server practice some kind of magic. They all have different specialties though: Gem is crystals and earth magic, Scott is ice and winter magic, and Pearl is plants and life magic.
Joey is a totem deity who is mixed with a parrot. He likes to look more human than most totem deities do.
Jimmy is a swamp cryptid thingy. He’s like a slimy fish man who used to live in the very depths of the swamp before Empires. He wears the cod head as a mask because his eyes aren’t very adjusted to daylight
Sausage made a deal/alliance with the illigers which is how he can send patrols after his enemy and how he was able to calm and tame Lawnmower.
Joel is a terracotta soldier brought to life. He thinks that he’s a clone of the original Joel. He makes his own clones in case he dies and needs a backup for his soul. The original Joel was human but through science and the help of the Mother Tree he’s now inhabiting these statue bodies
