His looks? Stunning? His voice? Hot. His moral compass? Questionable. Don't bother telling me who he is, I probably know who you're thinking about and honestly? Same.

'American Fiction' Movie and Blu-ray Review
The following review was written by Ultimate Rabbit correspondent, Tony Farinella. “American Fiction” is the kind of adult drama which has been sorely missing from Hollywood over the past decade and a half.  Hollywood has become obsessed with the big screen blockbuster and superhero films. Now, of course, there is nothing wrong with those films, but the adult drama along with R-rated comedies…

Danny:" And here is my gift, Damian, a katana I used to help the Mino_Monks in the past." Damian gave a long look at the sword and then at Danny:" Thanks." Danny:" Just take it. It's my gift for my sister. Boyfriend." Ellie:" At least you gave him a gift, Danny." Danny:"... Yeah."
Later  Damian learned that the Katana was really used to help the Mino monks. But what does Ellie's brother mean with that? He helped them.

a section from the paper on the Harkers' androgyny about Jonathan's connection to the old heroine tropes
Jonathan’s selective silences are reminiscent of the Radcliffean heroine’s unwillingness to name her fear of sexual violence directly, in that both serve to obscure the unspeakable. For an author like Radcliffe, naming the fear of rape would be scandalous. Matthew Lewis named them, and more: in his works, “the paranoid fears of a Radcliffe heroine are made the real exploits of diabolical protagonists” (M. Ellis 84). In truth, the contents of The Monk were not altogether dissimilar from other “under-the-counter publication[s] for gentlemen’s interest only” (M. Ellis 115), but that it was published as a Gothic work earned it at least an assumed female readership (M. Ellis 94). The form brought it to the attention of young women, and because young women might read it, the novel was deemed obscene. He faced public backlash (M. Ellis 114). Ann Radcliffe, whose books were wildly popular with young women, would have had to be very careful in what she addressed. Her novels could speak to fears of sexual violence, incest, patriarchal oppression, the sins of the father and more, but only obliquely. [...] By placing Jonathan in a situation generally reserved for an imperiled heroine, Stoker appears to be doing the same. A situation is set up wherein the threat of sexual violence is encoded without needing to be named. Jonathan is young, vulnerable, and comparatively naïve, and an older man of higher social status takes him as his prisoner. They are alone in a remote location. A reader familiar with Gothic tropes will see that Jonathan’s situation is like that of a Radcliffean heroine and may infer from there that Dracula, or someone else in the castle, may be a sexual threat to the young solicitor. [...]Of all the first-person narrators, only Jonathan, not Mina or Lucy, can be said to make use of the hysterical voice. His journal contains significant gaps, for one: between his resolution to cautiously learn more about Dracula and the next entry, where he first sees the Count climbing the exterior of the castle, seven days pass without any comment (Stoker 35). On the 31st of May, he finds his travel papers have been stolen; he does not write again until 17th of June (Stoker 46). These breaks in the narrative are never acknowledged, and no note is ever made of how this time was spent. Where he does write, as previously exemplified in the section on the threat of sexual violence, information and details are sometimes omitted without explanation. His fractured, evasive narrative which makes use of feminine-coded language and identifications can thus be considered a hysterical narrative and, consequently, as another level of gender performance.
(those are again significantly cut to not become huge blocks. hopefully I find an accessible link soon)

Then vs. Now
tagged by @ubejamjar, thank you <3
i'll pass it along to... @verysmallcyborg @idalenn @ahollowgrave @selnyam @sylaurin @sasslett
I think I had poked around at a couple of the settings before, but this was the first time I took a Proper Gpose, in March 2020.

Compared with tonight in December 2024:

...gods, where do I even start for the differences lol.
switched jobs, going from wanting to heal to bulking up and taking on martial jobs like dark knight, monk, and viper
like actually bulking up, her customize+ scaling looks so natural to me now that skinny peeled Ellie looks so off lol. it's not a huge difference but it's noticeable.
found out how to give her muscle, those arm dragon tattoos, an Archon mark, and arm/leg hair. the tattoos were a joke at first because it's year of the dragon and i'm a dragon in the chinese zodiac, but errrr oops i'm too used to them now. and they look sick.
her highlights changed to black (with a swerve into white for ShB), her facemark changed to match her hair color, and some of her face shapes were different, but she was always face 2 with this skintone and hair color. really nailed that right off the bat.
she was just my avatar in this online RPG back then. it'd take a year or two, probably after beating 5.3, when I'd start thinking about her as an actual character. And now I have an idea of how much she's grown, how much she's lost, what she's gained, how many women she's managed to smooch--
she's on tumblr now, which has also been a great way to meet so many cool wols and their amazing players and i'll forever be grateful for those opportunities and the friends i've made. <3
...if any of y'all ever want to play with ellie i've got mare files i can lend >.>

Can you recommend a cosy historical mystery series? I’d prefer a female protagonist if possible
We can! Historical cozies are a little harder to come by than ones set in modern day, but reader's advisor Susan has some suggestions!
Susan says:
You should try Rhys Bowen. She has two series that would be good; The Molly Murphy series and The Royal Spyness series. Start with Murphy's Law and Her Royal Spyness, respectively
Victoria Thompson writes the Gaslight Mysteries series about a detective midwife set about 1900 in New York City. Start with Murder on Astor Place.
Stephanie Barron has a series with Jane Austen as the detective. Start with Jane and the Unpleasantness at Scargrave Manor.
The Maisie Dobbs series by Jacqueline Winspear might work for you, too. It is set in 1929. Book one is just called Maisie Dobbs.
You might try Mary Roberts Rhinehart. She was often called the American Agatha Christie, so if Agatha Christie is a winner for you then definitely give Rhinehart a try.
And finally, take a look at The Cadfael Chronicles about a mystery-solving monk from 12th-centruy England. If you like them, you're in luck: there are a lot. These were written by Ellis Peters (pen name of linguist Edith Pargeter). Start with A Morbid Taste for Bones.
--
I hope there's something on that list that works for you! We don't actually have many cozy mystery recs in our backlog so I don't have a tag link for you, but I invite others to share their own recs on this post as well!

Deadpool is having a hard time fighting the new foe - Death Grip, the mad mystic martial artist. Death Grip keeps shrugging off katanas, kicks, punches and even the blabbering from the merc with a mouth. Meanwhile at the hidden base, Ellie Camacho and Princess the Symbiote Hyena learn that Deadpool had gone out on a mission without telling them so they interrogate Doug Siravanta for his whereabouts. Back to the temple, Deadpool keeps fighting Death Grip until he gets his arm torn off from a telekinetic attack. The mad mystic martial artist will stop at nothing to find the limits of Deadpool’s healing factor. Somewhere in the temple, Taskmaster is fighting off the temple's monks with a combination of learned martial arts and borrowed magic. Back to Deadpool vs Death Grip, the former (Deadpool) is still fighting the latter (Death Grip) despite having one arm. Even though Deadpool managed to get his upper hand (pardon the pun) on Death Grip by chopping off his hands, he loses his leg to the mystic's breath weapon. Just before Death Grip could finish off Deadpool, he is stopped by Ellie and Princess who arrived just in time and she fires a bomb arrow at the mystic. Both Ellie and Princess managed to save Deadpool before the temple blows up. Even though Deadpool is wounded and has missing left limbs, he is still alive much to the relief from his daughter. Also, Taskmaster emerges out of the wreckage, slightly wounded but alive.

If i win the lottert the first thing i do would be giving all my wins to hire you to illustrate the Brother Cadfael series by Ellis Peters as animal AUs, your animal-monks drawings are so good, and make me so happy when i see them on my dashboard...
i hadn't heard of that series until some folks tagged my gharial monk drawing with it but what the hell i'd be down. i would also gladly accept a rich patron to pay me to make an adaptation of redwall minus the anti-rat and stoat propaganda. or a wind in the willows adaptation where everyone just inexplicably wears robes because they're fun to draw
