Classical Music is for Everyone

My hobby is very close to becoming barking at classical music elitists in the comments of instagram performance videos. Bro, you are going to interfere with the precious spark of enthusiasm in the other commenters- strangers who may never interact with classical music in any other environment. Your bad attitude is going to scare them away! Who gives a damn if the musician is showcasing Shostakovich's Waltz No. 2 and you think it's basic (or whatever) because you've heard it a million times or the composer is well known? There are people reading those comments who have never heard it or seen it performed! Let the music fizz in their brains and lead them where it may. Let them dip their toes into this magical world without the risk of nasty little piranhas like you nipping their digits off for not emerging from the birth canal with the divine musical knowledge of a 24-year-old madrigal aficionado. Go argue about Scriabin or de Machaut* in some hobbyist corner of the internet that is built for conversing with other people who "enjoy" or "understand" (air quotes doing some heavy lifting here) the art-form in the way that you do and don't come out until someone plays Clair de Lune on the mystical keyboard that opens that dungeon door.

*if anyone comments on this post complaining that music from the their eras is not technically classical, I will put you in the Chopin dungeon myself

Quit shaming people for having messy painted patches, that's not cool and the point of punk is working with what you have. I have very fucked up brushes and a small amount of paint most of the time so I can't pound it on there. I have no printers I can use and blades are extremely triggering for me. Is it readable? Yes? Then it's fine. I'm doing what I can, shaming me won't do shit. Plus, you're discouraging new punks from doing what they can with what they have and forcing them to buy from potentially horrible places. I don't have the best paint, I don't have the best brushes, I don't have the best fabric, fuck I don't have the best surfaces to paint on but I'm doing what I can. If you're shaming the people unable to afford certain things, that's not very punk of you.

i love the idea of hatchetfield being such an accepting town when it comes to gender and sexual identity. minus the occasional grace, you've got all these cultists and corrupted businesses and evil eldritch gods but they're still gonna insult or accuse you with the correct pronouns. i respect that.

modern sirius black’s music taste is mostly rock older bands/artists (alice in chains, metallica, bon jovi, depeche mode, alice cooper, chris isaak, scorpions, black sabbath, van halen) along with a few more modern artists (frank iero, a$ap rocky and $uicideboy$ sometimes) whereas remus’ music taste is whatever old things his parents listened to (elvis presley, paul anka, the beach boys, the beatles, frank sinatra, eric clapton, the smiths) and modern artists with beautiful lyricism (hozier, noah kahan, mac demarco)
