Episode recap:
What women did for the guys they loved:
Skye: Sacrificed her own chance of happiness with Josh to help him get Kara over to Terra Nova, risking her own secrets in the process.
Alicia: Shot Taylor. (More romantic than it sounds, somehow.)
What guys did for the women they loved:
Mark: Checked on Maddy when he knew she would be upset, and risked going against his commanding officer in order to help Maddy get answers.
Jim: Intentionally gave Elisabeth a cold. (And I promise you, the scene was Peak Romance.)

I’m making this post at the request of the lovely @siflovesbuddie. Thank you for sending me your ask, and for your interest in my own thoughts! xoxox
Resource post with names info for all the notable 911 characters, compiled by the fandom’s resident name geek (slightly better than your average baby name site, which doesn’t give a damn about accuracy or about respecting the original cultures).
Gif makers and fic writers, please feel free to use this! If you do, credit or a reblog would be nice.
Also for anyone into enjoying different cultures and languages!
Here’s an open invitation if anyone wants to consult me on any other character’s name.
Under the cut: the info for all the characters in text, including a little more detail and explanation for the (giffed) main characters

Not K promoting a movie that she was in, that has no release date as of yet, IMDB doesn't have a real summary or synopsis, she's put down as TOP cast, but a German magazine for Film and TV gave the summary of the movie: "Unsuccessful actress Samantha (Elisabeth Moss) is given the opportunity to have a free trial treatment at Shell, a pioneering health and beauty company that promises its customers will keep them young forever. Samantha's life and career are changed by the treatment, and she develops a budding friendship with Shell's CEO, the ultra-glamorous Zoe Shannon (Kate Hudson). When a number of former Shell patients disappear under mysterious circumstances, including popular social media star Chloe Benson (Kaia Gerber), Samantha begins to fear that she herself may be in danger."
I have a feeling that she's not going to win an Oscar for that performance 😅 *cough* if it even is a performance
Also, did Cindy and Randy pay to have her on the poster and the 1st on IMDBs Top Cast list? 🤔
Tumblr media
Oh wow -- That's laughable lol 😆 😂
What I will say though is, idk if I'd take the cast listing too seriously. I've seen cast listings on IMDB for other films that didn't really make any sense.
I'm not sure how much these things are really intentional or make much sense in the end. But her being listed first is a joke lol 😆

I responded to the booklist question! I'm sure I forgot some but whew it still took forever to write.
What about you? What are some of the books youve read the most?
Good question! I finally started keeping a list, so I have something to work from. That way I won't draw a blank.
My top five or six favorite authors and series are: J. R. R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, C. S. Lewis's Narnia books, Rosemary Sutcliff's Dolphin Ring series (beginning with Eagle of the Ninth), Enemy Brothers and The Reb and the Redcoats by Constance Savery the Queen's Thief series by Megan Whalen Turner, and The Mysterious Benedict Society (original trilogy and prequel) by Trenton Lee Stewart.
There are many other books and authors I love. I listed several of my childhood influences in this post featuring my 50 favorite children's books (focusing on ones I grew up with as a young person).
Here's my list of favorite books I've read the most or ones I think are worth rereading: The Ordinary Princess by M. M. Kaye (a delightful original fairytale about a princess who refuses to stay in her tower)

Dragon Slippers and Tuesdays at the Castle by Jessica Day George (original fantasy in the style of fairytales) Princess Academy by Shannon Hale (fantasy adventure and coming-of-age story about a group of girls who attend school for the first time)
The Secret Keepers by Trenton Lee Stewart (urban light fantasy with dystopian elements) The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau (middle-grade, post-apocalyptic dystopian) The Arrival by Shaun Tan (a wordless graphic novel that conveys human experiences through surrealism)
The Saturdays by Elizabeth Enright (vintage contemporary about a lively family) Derwood, Inc. by Jeri Massi (modern contemporary mystery about another boisterous family) The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin (quirky vintage mystery with an interesting cast of characters) Historical Fiction: Carry On, Mr. Bowditch by Jean Lee Latham Caddie Woodlawn, Family Grandstand, and other books by Carol Ryrie Brink Rebecca's War by Ann Finlayson Understood Betsy by Dorothy Canfield Fisher Knight's Fee by Rosemary Sutcliff
The Lost Baron by Allen French The Wheel on the School by Meindert DeJong By the Great Horn Spoon by Sid Fleischman A Single Shard and Seesaw Girl by Linda Sue Park The Bronze Bow and The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare The Secret Garden and A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett Wives and Daughters by Elizabeth Gaskell A few books I discovered more recently that are now all-time favorites: Seventh City by Emily Hayse, The Letter for the King by Tonke Dragt, Valiant by Sarah McGuire, Out of the Tomb by Ashley Stangl, the Mistmantle Chronicles by M. I. McAllister, Escape to Vindor by Emily Golus, Chase the Legend by Hannah Kaye, The Key to the Chains by Allison Tebo (sci-fi), Rebel Wave by Tor Thibeaux (undersea dystopian) Historical fiction: Listening for Lions and Angel on the Square by Gloria Whelan, Courage in Her Hands by Iris Noble, Victory at Valmy and Word to Caesar by Geoffrey Trease, historical fiction Westerns and mysteries by author Elisabeth Grace Foley

Magnitt: I dreamed about you last night
Maddy has never been much of a runner. She prefers the quiet company of a good book to cheering stands and sweaty victories. Today, though, she runs as fast as she can, body protesting every step, as she winds through the dirty streets. Every breath is a struggle, the already-terrible air barely making it into her body (how long has she been crying?), and the uncharacteristic workout forcing it out just as quickly as it comes.
This is dangerous, she knows. Her mom is going to be furious with her for running away like this. But she has to try. She can’t lose anyone else in her family, especially like this.
The building is at the edge of town, less a house and more a small castle. Most people have lived in apartments for decades, so how this woman has managed to hold onto her space, Maddy isn’t sure. It’s dark, with looming towers, surrounded on all sides by a fence twice Maddy’s height. There’s no one in sight, but by the iron gate, there’s a small device that seems to be an old camera. 2050s, maybe, or even older than that. Why on earth would someone who could afford a place like this have tech that old?
After several long seconds, a startled but familiar voice comes out of a speaker by the camera. “Maddy Shannon?”
She’s not quite sure how this works, isn’t sure if anyone can hear her, but she tries, all the same. “Doc-” Her voice breaks, and she takes a shuddering breath, before trying again. “Doctor Magnus, please, can I-can I come in?”
“Of course.”
As if on cue, the gate slowly swings open, and Maddy steps inside, distantly aware of it closing behind her. She’s come by here a handful of times, but only to pass by. Up close, the building looks even older, and even more intimidating.
Just as she reaches the front door, it opens, and she finds Helen Magnus looking back at her with wide, concerned eyes. “What’s wrong?” She ushers her inside, and as soon as the front door closes, Maddy tugs her respirator off, breathing in the clearer air. … Much cleaner, actually, than even in the Shannons’ apartment. It’s incredible, and almost enough to distract her.
Almost.
She hasn’t seen Dr. Magnus in nearly a year, since she stopped working with Maddy’s mother, but she looks the same as when Maddy met her some ten years prior. Good genes, she’d always claimed with a laugh. And lots of moisturizer. She’d laughed at that, but there was a sad twinge to it; Dr. Magnus always seemed to be telling herself jokes no one else understood.
But from a young age, Maddy had known her to be brilliant, and above all, kind. When Maddy had come up to her mother’s work, Dr. Magnus had been more than happy to answer all of her questions about science and medicine, even the ones that made Josh look at her like she was some kind of freak. If anyone could help, maybe it would be her.
“My mom-” she tries, and Dr. Magnus pulls a thin square of fabric from her pocket. A handkerchief, she’d told Maddy long ago. (When Maddy tried to research handkerchiefs, she found only a handful of faded articles, most referencing back to the mid-1900s or even earlier.) Wiping her eyes, she tries again. “My mom was recruited for Terra Nova.”
Gentle understanding floods Dr. Magnus’ eyes (but she doesn’t understand, and Maddy wants to scream, but she’s never quite been able to interrupt an adult). “Ah. That’s a remarkable opportunity; I’ve been chosen myself, you know?” That’s news to Maddy, but not surprising. “I know it will be difficult for you at first, but I believe you’ll do quite well there. All of you will.”
That’s just the problem, isn’t it? “We can’t all go.”
“Oh, Maddy. Your father-”
“Zoe,” she blurts, then freezes. She didn’t mean to interrupt, but she couldn’t help it.
“What?” Dr. Magnus has gone pale now, expression almost frozen. It’s weird; she always seems unflappable, but now, she looks like she’s struggling to breathe as much as Maddy.
“They say it would be-” A fresh wave of tears wells up, and she stubbornly pushes past them. “Rewarding Mom for breaking the law, if they let her bring Zoe. They’re going to put her in the system.”
Horror gives way to something almost terrifying: cold fury, written across Dr. Magnus’ face. It’s something Maddy feels to her bones, but to see it is something else entirely. “I see.” The words are short. Clipped. But she says no more, and a trace of fear curls around Maddy’s chest.
“I was hoping you could do something. I mean, we both know you have… Connections. Power. You can make them change their minds, right?”
Dr. Magnus sighs, eyes falling shut for a moment. “I’ve not held that sort of sway in a very long time.” She sounds exhausted, and much older than she really is. “The governments used to need me, but-”
“Governments?” Plural? The last separate government was swallowed up in 2100. How could this woman have held any sort of power nearly fifty years ago, when she looked younger than Maddy’s mom?
For a heartbeat, Dr. Magnus looks almost nervous, like she’s been caught in something. But then she relaxes, meeting Maddy’s gaze evenly. “Governments,” she confirms, a grin playing at the corner of her lips, as if daring Maddy to argue. And Maddy wants to-truly-but she also just wants her family to be okay, so she says nothing. After a beat, Dr. Magnus continues, “They still appreciate my research, but as for my primary work… The governments of the world dealt with most of that long ago.” There’s a bitter twist to her words that chills Maddy. “Truthfully, I’m not certain they aren’t sending me to Terra Nova so that they don’t have to deal with me anymore. I thought to fight it, but… Perhaps a fresh start is what I need. It’s not as if I have a great deal left keeping me here, and I-” She pauses. Eyes Maddy. “In any case, I truly wish I could help you, but there isn’t anything I can do. I’m so very sorry.”
This isn’t a possibility Maddy had considered. She’d thought, perhaps, Dr. Magnus would be hesitant to bend the rules, and she’d been prepared to beg and plead. But this… This wasn’t supposed to happen. Dr. Helen Magnus can do pretty much anything, or at least, that’s how it has always seemed to Maddy.
Still, Dr. Magnus has apologized, and Maddy’s response is automatic. “It’s okay. Maybe Dad can-” Oh, no.
She freezes, and Dr. Magnus freezes, and everything around her seems to freeze, just like it did two years before. It’s that all over again; Maddy’s family is going to suffer, and lose someone else, only this time, it will be all Maddy’s fault.
“Your father. The one in prison?” Dr. Magnus’ voice is careful. Maddy bites her lip, and says nothing. She can almost see the gears turning in the doctor’s head as she tilts her head to the side, considering. “Your mother intends to free him.”
“I didn’t say that,” Maddy says quickly, and Dr. Magnus looks for a moment like she might smile. Then her expression twists into something thoughtful.
“Where, precisely, is your father imprisoned?”
There’s no sense in lying; Maddy has no doubt that Dr. Magnus still has the resources to find this out on her own. “Golad. Maximum security, so, she’d have to be crazy to-” She’s a terrible liar, always has been, but she has to try. It’s the only way to keep her family together. “-to even think about-”
“Madelyn,” Dr. Magnus says, gentle but firm, and Maddy closes her mouth. “It’s quite alright. Believe me, I’d never turn in a mother for protecting her child. In fact…” She does smile now, soft but sure. “I might be able to help you after all. But first, I’ll need to speak with your mother.”

OC Introductions
Alright here's some new OCs plus a bonus one that conceptualized as I was writing these out whoops (and I'm gonna tag @daughter-of-melpomene since Dolly knew about a little about Aimee and gave me literally all 4 FCs for the 911/911 Lone Star ocs)
OUAT
Aimee Grimard (Charithra Chandran FC), Gabriella Lang ship. Known as Elisabeth Barbot in the Enchanted Forest, her father was a merchant that angered the Evil Queen and her home was burned down and his ship was lost at seat. They had to move to the countryside and work on a farm, where she explored in the woods and found a deserted castle where she met Suzanna. In Storybrooke, she lives and works on the docks, helps out at Granny's and does storytime sometimes for Mary Margaret. When the curse is broken, she remembers Gabriella but Gabriella doesn't remember her
Tumblr media
9-1-1
Rowan Buckley (Jake Borelli FC), Josh Russo ship. A cousin to Maddie born a year after Daniel, he also wasn't a bone marrow match. So when his parents died and his aunt and uncle took him in just after Daniel passed, he was also sworn to secrecy to never talk about him. He and Buck weren't very close when they were young as their parents focused more on Rowan as the replacement son for Daniel and Rowan was always very unsure how to be around his cousin, Maddie was pretty much their in between. When he was 18, he left home to go to college for pre-med (inspired by everything that happened with Daniel) and moved to Los Angeles, only really talking to his parents and occasionally Maddie until those talks stopped too. Then when he transfers hospitals, he meets Firefighter Buckley for the first time in years.
Tumblr media
Kaeden Duan (Harry Shum Jr. FC), Evan Buckley & Eddie Diaz ship. Born and raised in San Francisco, he spent most of his childhood raising his little sister since their parents weren't around like, at all. She lived with him as soon as he was 18 though he was training to be an EMT at the time. Then Alyssa got into college in LA and he moved with her, which leads to him meeting the 118
Tumblr media
9-1-1: Lone Star
Mariana Diaz (Jaina Lee Ortiz FC), Marjan Marwani ship. Though her brother Eddie was always her hero and she missed him while he was in Afghanistan, she knew he was having problems. Especially after Shannon left him and Christopher. So, she encouraged him to leave Texas. Screw their parents. And Mariana, she threw herself into her work after that. Fighting fires, that's what she was good at. And then Owen Strand calls her. Her captain knew him and when he was looking to rebuild the 126, he recommended her transfer. So she accepted.
Tumblr media
Melody Lau (Melissa O'Neil FC), Paul Strickland ship. Ever since she was young, Melody knew she wanted to help people. But her family couldn't afford to send her to college so, she looked to the police academy. She passed with flying colors, her only issue was getting employment. Melody started applying anywhere she could, and Austin was the only one that accepted with enough time for her to move. She quickly became friends with Carlos Reyes, and soon meets the 126
Tumblr media
The Bright Sessions
Lucas Bramwell (Cody Christian FC), Caleb Michaels ship. A Class B, Level 6 Atypical, he has the ability to control plants. He's been with Dr. Bright for about six months now after being recommended by Agent Green, he does go to school with Caleb but neither have realized the other is an atypical or a patient of Dr. Bright's as he typically stays away from sports and they only share a couple of classes. After he meets Chloe when he's touring her college, he slowly gets more involved in what the AM is really doing and with Caleb
Tumblr media
Aurora Decker (Danielle Campbell FC), Samantha Barnes & Mark Bryant ship. A Class C, Level 8 Atypical, she has the ability to turn invisible. She's a recent patient of Dr. Bright's after she saw her ad, Aurora has always had a hard time controlling her ability which has caused her to have problems in her job. She meets Sam with Dr. Bright's plan to sneak into the AM and they grow closer while on the road trip to look for Mark.
Tumblr media
Billie Foster (Alexandra Daddario FC), Robert Gorham Damien ship. A Class A, Level 5 Atypical, she has the ability of clairvoyance. An older patient of Dr. Bright's, she's helped her get her level down a lot and while Billie probably could get away with stopping her sessions, she's almost afraid to for reasons she doesn't say. She meets Damien when he's waiting around after her session to see Dr. Bright and though Billie didn't like him at first, he kept finding her and talking to her
Tumblr media
Laurence Mercer (Tyler Hoechlin FC), Robert Gorham Damien ship. A non-atypical that works for the AM under the name Agent Poirot, he gets moved from DC to Boston to work with Agent Green and through that he unintentionally meets Dr. Bright. But it's through an accidental meeting with Chloe at a coffee shop that he ends up meeting Damien, who initially dislikes him and Laurence tries to keep a distance, but it doesn't quite work for the two of them

20 Book Challenge
I saw this challenge on a post by @theresebelivett. The idea is you pick 20 of your books to take with you to a desert island, but you can only pick one book per author and series. Here are two further guidelines I set myself: They have to be books I actually own, as if I really am gathering them up under my arms and heading to the island; and I'm defining "book" as a single volume -- so if I just so happen to have 100 novellas squashed between two covers, it still counts as one book.
We'll go alphabetically by author.
Charlotte Bronte: Jane Eyre. An old standby, a classic, I can jump into it at any point.
Daphne du Maurier: Rebecca. Have only read it once, but loved it and I suspect I'll get more from it each time.
Clare B Dunkle: The Hollow Kingdom. If I can only take one book from this excellent and unusual goblin series that captivated me in the mid-2000s, it'd better be the first one.
William Goldman: The Princess Bride. This book had an outsize influence on my own writing. I can quote a lot of it, but I wouldn't want to be without it.
Shannon Hale: Book of a Thousand Days. I love the warmth and humility of its heroine Dashti. Plus, Shannon Hale very kindly wrote a personal response to a fan letter I sent her years and years ago, so her work always has a special place in my heart.
Georgette Heyer: Cotillion. I don't actually own my favorite Georgette novel, but the funny, awkward, and ultimately romantic Cotillion is definitely not a pitiful second-stringer.
Eva Ibbotson: A Countess Below Stairs. Countess was my introduction to Eva's adult romances, and she is the past master of warm, hardworking heroines who should really be annoying because they're way too good to be true, but somehow you just end up falling in love with them.
Norton Juster: The Phantom Tollbooth. I first read this when I was like eight, and even for an adult, its quirky humor and zingy wordplay hold up, no problem.
Gaston Leroux: The Phantom of the Opera. Can't leave without Erik, nope, the French potboiler has got to come. Perhaps I will spend my time on the island writing the inevitable crossover fanfic, The Phantom of the Tollbooth.
CS Lewis: Till We Have Faces. Faces is my current answer for what my favorite book is, so I'm taking that, though it feels criminal to leave The Silver Chair behind.
LM Montgomery: The Blue Castle. As much as I love Anne and Emily, it came down to Blue Castle and A Tangled Web, and I'm a sucker for Valancy's romantic journey.
E Nesbit: Five Children and It. Probably the most classic Edwardian children's fantasy, though still a hard choice to make. Nesbit is another author who had a huge influence on me as a writer.
Robert C O'Brien: Mrs Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. A childhood book I'm really sentimental about. I should re-read it.
Meredith Ann Pierce: The Darkangel. The first in the archaic lunar vampire trilogy. This will always be frustrating, only having the first in the series, but if I can only read the first, maybe I'll forget about how angry the third novel left me.
Sherwood Smith: Crown Duel. At one time, this swords-and-manners fantasy duet was one of my absolute favorite fandoms, and clever me has both books in one volume, so I don't have to choose.
Anne Elisabeth Stengl: Starflower. My favorite of the Tales of Goldstone Wood series. We'll have to test whether I can actually get sick of Eanrin.
JRR Tolkien: The Lord of the Rings. I've never actually read it through as an adult and, look at that, I have a three-in-one volume. Cheating!
Vivian Vande Velde: Spellbound. I've read much of VVV's YA fantasy and liked a lot of it, but none more so than The Conjurer Princess and its fast-paced tale of revenge. The Spellbound edition includes the prequel and a bonus short story, so I'm good to go.
PG Wodehouse: The World of Mr Mulliner. There are some hilarious novels I'm leaving behind here, including all the Bertie Wooster stuff. But there are some absurdly fun Mulliner stories and this edition is like three hundred pages. That'll keep me happy for a long while on my island.
Jack Zipes (editor): Spells of Enchantment. This is an enormous compilation of western fairy tales. I've owned it since 2004 or so, and I've still never finished it. Now, on my island, I'll no longer have the excuse.
Tagging anyone else who feels like doing this!
