And I found myself another out-of-nowhere rare pair ship with no in-game interaction (that seems to be my thing because who needs interaction right?) while playing HZD Remastered and that is these two - Balahn and Marea!

Okay, why these two (besides that they have the same look/smile on their face)?

(and what do you mean she's dead? I didn't see her corpse, she's happily alive, just like Varl and Fashav)

Because I love the idea of two characters who are basically stationed on opposite sides of a border falling for each other and these two would work great for this trope imo.

So, Marea is stationed as a Brave at Mother's Crown, which is the closest Nora settlement to the Carja border and Daytower where Balahn is the commander, so good chances are they've crossed paths while doing diplomatic business or trading. And the Nora at Mother's Crown are guarding the border in the same way the Carja do at Daytower which means that Marea and Balahn have basically the same job, just on opposite sides.

Marea's the one who tells Aloy what's going on at Daytower so she must have had dealings with the Carja stationed there and specifically with Balahn.

Marea was also born in a settlement that was destroyed by the Carja during the Red Raids so she wouldn't have a good opinion of the Carja until she meets Balahn who's pretty different from all the Carja she met before - not cruel or arrogant but honorable and respectful towards outlanders and women.

I actually headcanon now that Marea's partly the reason why Balahn is so adamant to have his soldiers pay respect to Aloy because no one's allow to disrespect his woman or the people of her tribe on his watch.

Also Balahn is just one of the really good guys who faught on Avad's side and wants to make up for the past and establish lasting peace with the Nora, so he deserves happiness and I think him finding love among the Nora would be very poetic.

So I imagine they would both slowly fall in love with each new meeting, but they both seem the type of people who are basically married to their jobs and always put their work first, so they would still try to deny and hide their feelings and try to keep it professional between them since they're still soldiers standing on opposite sides of the border committed to their duties.

And don't make me think about how devastated Balahn would be thinking Marea has died during the attack of the Eclipse and he couldn't do anything to help because he had to stay at Daytower (I wonder now if the Eclipse marched through Daytower or took another path to get to the Embrace), but then she would show up at the gates and he would be so relieved and happy to see her and maybe it's the day he has to leave to help defend Meridian so who knows if they'll ever see each other again so he would just say screw it and rush through the gates to embrace her (including smooches and forehead touches) in front of everyone 😭

I will not elaborate.

After finishing HZD Remastered, I've started playing Lego Horizon Adventures. I'm not that much of Lego games fan (still haven't finished The Skywalker Saga), but the game's been fun so far.

And the machines are adorable! Look at my cute Thunderjaw boi:

I really enjoy that you can pick up people and throw them around (don't ask me how many Nora villagers I've thrown into lakes, let's just say a lot), and that during the fights, I can just jump around like a crazy frog and shoot in every direction with no strategy at all. It's so chaotic but still works. Also Hot Dog stands as secret super weapons!

I also like that you can switch and play as other characters and even dress up as other characters. Oh look it's Avad and Nil and Talanah!

(I find it hilarious that you can also dress as Bast because why? who wants that???)

There's definitely a shift in armosphere and tone compared to HZD and HFW, feels more like you're playing Super Mario because it's obviously aimed at younger people, but that's fine for the game.

And I'm just headcanoning that this game is actually an in-verse game in the HZD verse created by Varl and Beta as part of the training (Beta did the coding, Varl added the humor, and they make the whole GAIA gang play it!).

Teb's there and he's supporting cosplaying!

Karst as a paranoid conspiracy theorist making Aloy do community work around the village

Aloy yelling "Happy Birthday" during fights

Varl being obsessed with comics and superheroes

DJ SYLENS!!!

Teersa's EXPLODING DUCKS! No really I love that her gimick is throwing explosive food and animals around and that she's basically Aloy’s violence loving and destruction craving granny in this game!

Erend saying "Hammer Time!" because of course he does!

Helis being a sunbathing addicted maniac and world's tanning champion!
