For my second playthrough of Outlaws, I decided to take my time through the game and found a few sidequests involving droids. I'm still early in the game, so I might add onto this. They're just small observations though. Spoilers as always:

There's the broken motivation actuator quest on Toshara: Kay: Why don't you help him? Guy: Not my droid.

And Kay helps this rando droid anyway, just like how she helps ND-5 even though he "isn't her droid". It's a nice early game parallel to ND-5's quest towards the end.

Then there's finding the droid who went blaster happy on pirates on Toshara. The Pyke who made the request was pretty pissed with the other guy for losing them. And at the end of the quest: Pyke: He's just a droid, but he's the only friend I've got (or something along those lines).

While I didn't write down the dialogue for this one and haven't gotten to it on this playthrough yet, there's the quest with the droid outside the cantina on Tattooine as well. The droid is waiting for his master to leave and waited for months? cycles? until Kay gives him the guy's ID. With that, the droid tells Kay that he was his only friend.

These sidequests present themselves as parallels to Kay and ND-5's relationship as partners/friends while acting as foils to Jaylen and ND-5's relationship where ND-5 is considered his property. Kay would go to extreme lengths for ND-5, while Jaylen would write him off and find a replacement.

Then there's an encounter with a droid waiting out a mark who locked himself into a building on Toshara: Droid: My mark is organic. They'll have to leave at some point. Kay: Do you think your sensors are broken or something? Droid: I can sense that you are lying.

A parallel to the end of the game, perhaps? Or maybe this is a stretch. ND-5: I won't get tired. I will never give up!/I am anticipating your every move. Kay: I'm trying to scramble your sensors. ND-5: I know you're lying, Kay.

Finished the DLC and I think it was great. I prefered the casino part to the later stuff and think the dlc could have been longer but that's just me being greedy.

And there's a new Nix skin where he wears a little droid helmet because he wants to look like his droid dad 😭

More thoughts behind the cut.

The second part didn't have much direct Kay and ND interaction as the focus was obviously on Lando, but there were still some nice conversation parts.

While I would have liked more Kay and ND working together, Lando was great, especially how he bromanced the bad guy to buy Kay the time needed to steal the map. Classic Lando.

Bummer there was no nod to L3-37 or any comment from Lando regarding Kay and ND's close relationship - but that's what fanfiction is for!

I loved how ND got more and more worried for Kay during the mission with her getting worked up and winging it so much, showing how much he knows her by now and knows when something is up with her. I loved when he tried to talk reason into her and that she shouldn't blame herself of what could happen like the best friend he is.

Also technically happened already on the casino ship but forgot to mention it in the first part, but Kay’s obsession with ND's coat is back when she told him to take it off to mingle with the security droids. We still need to find out how and where he got the coat from and why it's such a touchy subject for him. I have a theory that it could be either from one of his targets or from a previous partner he lost. I hope we'll find out in the next dlc.

I think it was a missed opportunity to not have ND infiltrate the imperial base along with Kay and Lando. BX commando droids are designed to be able to wear Stormtrooper gear so he could have disguised himself as a Stormtrooper and could have come to Kay's rescue when she was fighting the AT-ST walker (new AU idea unlocked!).

Speaking of droids, when Kay said ND would love working at the part of the imperial base where there were only droids and ND agreeing - like hell no, he wouldn’t like it, at least not for long imo. He's so different from every other droid around him, so much more self-aware and "evolved", so I don’t think he would like it there for long.

Yes, I immediately got the Star Wars Outlaws Wild Card DLC because I couldn’t wait for more adventures of my fave trio. While I'm not that far in the game yet, it's everything I hoped for so far.

I love the setting of the fancy casino ship (which reminds me a bit of the cruise ship from The 5th Element) and I already got tons of ideas for Kay x ND-5 AUs based on the dlc.

Putting the ideas behind the cut because some spoilers included but first, don't they look good striding side by side into the casino like they own the place?

Okay now to ideas...

First I loved the little bits of ND & Nix interaction during the hyperspace jump showing how much ND has grown to care for Nix. The way he was so excited when it looked like Nix was flying the ship. That was just adorable, he's becoming such a pet person. He's like one step aways from buying Nix more cute little outfits.

I also loved the usual banter between Kay and ND. Like when she teased him at the reception and him begrudgedly going along with it, or when he "socialized" at the bar. I just love every interaction of them!

Only One Bed AU:

Kay asking for an upgrade and they actually get one but it's the honeymoon suite! There are no other rooms vacant and as a droid, ND wouldn't get one, so they have to share the room and all the best typical rom com stuff happens. ND turning awkwardly around when Kay’s changing clothes or catching a peak when she comes out of the shower (maybe the door malfunctions and just slides open at the right moment...). Kay not able to sleep with ND in the same room - or she does fall asleep and has some interesting dreams that ND can't ignore...

Also Kay going wild with the room service because she never had it!

Bar Date AU

That's it! That’s all I could think about when he said he's waiting at the bar. And with the way they made him lean so casually against the bar - oh the creators definitely knew what they were doing!

Fancy Attire AU

While I really like Kay’s new outfit, I would have also loved to see her in a fancy dress for the sabacc event, the smoking sight of her short circuiting ND's systems. ND in a suit would have been nice too.

Jealousy AU

Lando shamelessly flirting with Kay at the casino makes ND jealous.

Or it's Kay getting jealous when one of his contacts on the ship turns out to be ND's ex or when the droid running the casino ship takes a liking in ND.

One Night Stand AU

Kay and ND don’t know each other prior to meeting on the casino ship. They're working for different syndicates (like Mr & Mrs Smith) or ND is a free droid/still working for Jaylen. They meet at the bar and hook up.... and probably break the bed.
