At this point I literally view the horizon games as a pseudo dating sim experience. They have thrown nearly all possible tropes into it and given equal attention and weight to all of them. Youre a princely type of gal? Go for Avad. You like the himbo? Erend is right there. You want to be stepped on by a girl boss? Telanah Khane Padish at your service. You're the kind of person who watches You and lowkey simps for Joe? Nil is right there. You're aro/ace and feel represented by seeing a character beat back their throng of admirers with a stick? You're in luck.

You can play it, pick any ship you prefer, pick no ship at all, and each choice is equally supported by canon. I know there are some ship wars going on, cause it's fandom, and there's always ship wars somewhere. But I kind of like how low pressure this feels at the moment. There's no need to go "my ship is the best because x,y,z" because it really comes down to personal preference and less "which is most supported by the narrative." Which I suppose is something that should be true of all fandoms, but idk. At first I kind of thought everyone hitting on her cheapened the narrative, but it's kind of grown on me as a way of giving everyone a bit of what they want without explicitly ruining it for others.

Lieutenant Kay Vess may not have been the best graduate of the Imperial Academy or by the typical book soldier per se, but she might be one of the wittiest, full of street smarts she aquired growing up in the Worker’s District of Canto Bight. Through her resourcefulness, boldness and excellent hacking skills, she had turned many hopeless situations in her favour and quickly rose through the ranks at CIS Special Operations, a former Separatist special forces branch that has been incorporated into the Imperial military apparatus after the Clone Wars.

She didn’t join because she really believed in the cause, but after being abandoned by her mother as a child, she didn’t have much of a choice. Becoming an Imperial Officer provided her with a roof over her head and three meals a day which was better than having to live off the scraps of the riches on the dirty streets of Canto.

It also helped that she had no problem working closely with battle droids. While most other officers couldn’t accept "clankers" as their superior officers, Kay found she didn’t mind serving alongside or under them… or in any other position required...

One droid in particular, she developed an unexpected attraction for.

The BX-series commando droid with the identification JX394ND-5777 or short ND-5 was truly one of a kind, a rare relic of the Clone Wars still running on almost all the original parts. Most of his kind had fallen in battle or had long been dismantled and replaced by modern droids years ago, but ND-5’s reputation, his extensive tactical experience and countless successes on the battlefield against rebels, pirates and crime syndicates proved him invaluable to the CIS. He was so successful in his missions that he was granted more freedom than any other droid, he didn't get memory wiped and was even allowed to wear his own clothes like organics, the sight of him dressed in that olive wooly duster constantly making heads turn whenever he entered the cantina, both in bewilderment and disapproval.

For Kay, however, the sight of him elicited a well of very different emotions…

Started watching the show Ghosts and now I have to think about a Horizon AU in which Aloy can see ghosts with her focus and the GAIA gang and co. are all ghosts haunting her at the Base much to her annoyance.

Also, Aloy falling in love with ghost Kotallo (i always thought his paint already makes him look like some sort of mountain ghost/spirit)... oh all the angst and pining and potential for pottery scenes set to "Unchained Melody"...

(and Drakka would definitely be the ghost who died without pants on)

I like this idea. I had a similar one after the finale, I might have rambled about it somewhere, can't remember.

In my idea, it's the time bug that reacts weirdly with Michael because she's already been affected by temporal shenanigans from the jump to the future. The bug "duplicates" her when it gets destroyed and one Michael gets to leave the time loop with Rayner while the other gets thrown into the future and shows up on the ship some time after Saru's wedding.

So the "future" Michael would have to deal with the question whether or not she's just the copy of the Michael who left the time loop with Rayner, while also having to see that Michael living the life she envisioned for herself - married to Book with his baby on the way. Rayner would be there for her to come to terms with everything and they would fall in love eventually.

The story would have ended with "future" Michael staying on the Discovery as the captain and being with Rayner while the other Michael would join Tilly at the Academy and live a happy life with Book.
