I wanted Amyeong to become Kayden's apprentice. I always thought that if Kayden had not met Jiwoo, Amyeong would have become Kayden's apprentice after some time. I can tell that Kayden really cares for him, but the author has not yet explained why Amyeong wanted to kill him when he first appeared. I feel so bad for Amyeong..

Been thinking about eleceed as usual, and you know what I noticed?

Kayden was dad-coded even before he met Jiwoo. Allow me to elaborate:

1. His relationship with Amyeong:

The most obvious one, of course. The Kayden we knew before Jiwoo was a 'lone wolf'; he wasn't someone who cared for company. Yet, this same guy seems to have an extended relationship with Amyeong. Despite not caring to have an apprentice, Kayden teaches Amyeong to use his power efficiently and advises him. The flashbacks all show him speaking easily with Amyeong and given the fact Amyeong considered himself Kayden's apprentice, it's easy to see that their relationship was clearly over a long/significant period of time

What I'm trying to say is, Kayden, despite his insistence to work alone, was pretty fond of Amyeong, taught him to make the best of himself and spent considerable time with him.

2) His familiarity with Roist

Okay yes, I know, he rejected Roist as his apprentice too BUT BUT, that does not mean they did not have a degree of familiarity between them.

We've seen Kayden with people who he regards as a threat to Jiwoo; they don't exactly see the next sunrise. YET, when Roist shows up in the WAA, he's irritated yes, but not antagonistic. The way Kayden speaks to Roist, allows him to meet Jiwoo is more like indulgence over anything.

His words too are gentle, not cocky, just stating it as it is. What do I mean? He's talking to Roist like he'd talk to a kid! Chastising, but not mean!

And then ofc we know his relationship with Jiwoo so I'm not gonna elaborate on that

It's just interesting that Kayden is actually borderline gentle and almost helpful with every kid he meets. Teaching them, indulging them and non threatening.

It seems to me that he's always had a soft spot for lonely kids :') such a dad even before he met Jiwoo

The one where I give Doctor Kang 4 more children:

Jurion is the eldest who makes sure his younger brothers don't destroy the house and get into trouble.

Amyeong is the second oldest who also makes sure his brothers don't get into trouble, only unlike Jurion, he doesn't hesitate to kick his brothers ass when needed or when they are being annoying.

Duke, Jiwoo and Ian are triplets. Duke is (the oldest) an absolute piece of shit with his siblings, particularly Jiwoo, he is also the one who challenges Jurion and Dark's authority the most. However, when someone is mean to his brothers, he doesn't hesitate to choose violence as a response. Jiwoo he is an angel with no instinct for self-preservation, basically the baby of the house. Ian is a feisty cat who just wants to be alone in his room, but that's not easy when you have 4 brothers and you're the youngest.

Doctor Kang is a loving mother who loves all of her puppies.

~a fanfic about Jiwoo, walking home from the convenience store and having a deja-vu from episode 124~

JIWOOs POV: (i don’t get this stuff so please don’t roast meh)

“Gosh, why did I buy so much again?”, Jiwoo thought as he carried the shopping bags out of the store. Someone just had to do the shopping, you know? It was a cloudy night but luckily it wasn’t too dark outside. An usual Friday in the town. Car honks and flashing off the traffic lights lit up the street. And even though Jiwoo was on his own he wasn’t scared. 

What could happen, after all the previous years’ events? Was there even something left he could fear…after all the pain?

Jiwoo cracked a smile at that thought. Until almost two years ago his life was casual and nothing but boring. Each year the same routine: Moving houses and switching schools. Most people would’ve wondered if they found out about this strange behavior. 

But there was a solid reason: Hiding. 

And then he met Kayden, who told him he was awakened and not alone with his unnatural powers. Furthermore he began to train his own powers. Jiwoo knew that being awakened, not to forget the only disciple of the great Kayden Break, would cause him dangerous fights and hazardous situations. But that was never enough to convince him to go back to his casual life. Only until…

Jiwoo looked up suddenly. He had been so zoned it, that he didn't even realize where he was going. He tried looking for a street sign but then he saw it: The flickering street light right next to the red brick fence- 

The wind blew slightly and swirled up some leaves of the concrete. The sound of the rustling leaves of a tree nearby the sidewalk. Jiwoo could have sworn that he saw something move on the street. And promptly he saw it again as if it had been yesterday: The person standing in the protective shade of the brickwall…But as he blinked and looked closer around himself he sighed resignedly and said to himself, that this time it was just the wind…

Things that I think Might Give Nuance to Eleceed aka I complain

how the fuck has Jiwoo not shown more attachment issues with other characters, like I know he does has at one point with Kayden but it's so infrequent that you forget this kid has basically been neglected his entire life

Can I get a chapter on just his eating habits? Like we don't know much about him other than that he's an overpowered bean. Like can he cook or does he even do it? Does he just live off of takeout and shin ramyun for the majority of his life?? I WANT ANSWERS!!

+ to point 2, failed chance of environmental storytelling but hey if u gotta pump out a new chapter every week that's at least 40 panels I would skip it too.

The fact that some arguably pivotal characters to the plot and world-building cough Sucheon, Arthur, Iseul, etc, etc. cough have not appeared in over like 150 ch tells me WAY too much about the current development and I DO NOT LIKE IT!! Let's explore Sucheon and HIS REACTION TO THE KIDNAPPING THING? Iseul can talk to animals, cool but kayden is a human who basically transfigured into a cat... maybe there is more to those awakened animals... OR FUCKING ARTHUR?? MY GUY HAS NO HARM AND WITNESSED FRAME KILL HIS CLASSMATES AND WAS BETRAYED HOW TF DID THAT FLY UNDER THE BUS

u know what pisses me off is that they aren't actively developing Amyeong (dark) and Jiwoo's relationship and Amyeong's ties to Jiwoo's mother. Also, PERSONALY, I think Jiwoo and his mother should be more awkward around each other considering her job and I've seen videos that the lack of time spent with a parent can rlly just make them a stranger to a child. Plus Kayden knows more about Jiwoo than his mother anyways let me SEE it.

In the end, I just complain out of a slight love for the series, these are things I just personally want to see out of the webcomic that's all. Also, I might have more, I kinda stopped reading it in order after ch 200 something.

By itself, only relative to Kayden's actions, I could see that argument. But I get caught up on relative ages. For example, if Kayden is 30, what age are Jiyoung, Jurion, Amyeong, and Roist?

I'll give all of them low and fairly generous numbers. Let's give Jiyoung 19. Jurion is a few years older, let's say 22. Then Amyeong and Roist are certainly a few years older than him. Let's say Amyeong is 25, and Roist is probably older too being in higher Top 100-50 ranks... so 28? But Roist being only two years younger than Kayden sounds too wild. Even if you boost up Kayden to 32, that's only four years. Especially when Duke was training with Schnauder for what, five years?

Likely Roist was still World Ranked within those years to be considered a proper apprentice during Duke's training, which means he's higher Top 100-50 at 23-25? Which would be same age as Kayden in Top 50s from your timeline, which implies Roist would be almost as good as Kayden? Roist calls Duke's five years of teaching 'short' (Chapter 222), so Roist must have been with Schnauder for a long-ish time, maybe a full decade? After he got rejected from Kayden. But if Roist was 18 that time, and Kayden was 20-22, that only barely adds up. The character ages are very wild like this.

But also factoring in that Kayden was unaffiliated and therefore had no connections, getting up to Top 50 likely took longer than affiliated people like Jurion having immediate connections to fights. So once I factor in relative ages to younger characters and time to rise without connections, it's very hard for me to think of Kayden as anything less than about 38, although I round up to 40 for ease and extra wiggle room.

Obviously, I really don't care what other people headcanon or use (as long as he's not fucking 25 in canon timeline), but I get very confused with your timeline once relative ages are factored.

At the same time, I know half the Eleceed fanbase are teens and 40+ is damn old bitch to teens, and this is a comic for teen-centric audience. So I admit your timeline could be right just on that point alone, regardless of relative ages being confusing. Even though 40s is chill and still an attractive age, in my opinion. Kayden can be hot and in his 40s, that's lower mid-life age for us normies, although probably 1/3rd age or so for Awakeners.

Important Edit: This is not meant to be a shitpost or anything as reply to suden, they're great and I like them. I think the timeline itself is a crapshot of info anyways, and trying logic like relative ages might breakdown anyways if the author compares it all to Kayden's own progress timeline like suden did. (And which might be the case if somehow Kayden-Seongik fight was only a few years ago and not like a decade ago).

Tbh I'm begging for writers to just give us canonical ages to help us.
