Proud to say I am finally an MPEG editor. This is a big win for all my fellow editorial folks at Shadow. Again special thanks to María Lasalle for the opportunity and support. Remember: There Is Power In A Union!

the true potential of cross guild is that no matter what, buggy can Only fail upwards. like i genuinely do think that mihawk and crocodile will come to begrudgingly respect buggy for inexplicably revitalizing their dreams and aspirations as actual pirates vs treating everything as business and never trusting anyone, but consider: Cross Guild just keeps expanding after the fact
Gecko Moriah and Perona, after their encounter with the Blackbeard Pirates, salvage what they can of their crew and join up
Doflamingo is broken out of Impel Down alongside Bon Clay in a second prison break scandal and they both decide to join up
Rayleigh, wanting protection for Amazon Lily and for Boa to gain more allies, gets in touch with Buggy after all this time to join his crew ala Jinbe joining Luffy
Neo MADS, in need of resources and manpower after their scuffle with the Big Mom Pirates, contact and eventually conglomerate into Cross Guild, meaning Caesar Clown, Judge and the Vinsmoke siblings all join as well
Vivi meeting up with them alongside Wapol after escaping Mary Geoise and joining them, at least until she can find the Straw Hats
Buggy, through no reason other than being gods favorite chewtoy, straight up having a fully decked out Yonko crew of former warlords, legends and everything in between where no one takes him truly seriously but at the very least respect his authority as Yonko to not kill him. but oh boy do they keep him guessing. the only reason it doesnt fall apart is because they're all united in dunking on this silly little clown that, for the funniest reasons ever, is luckier than the devil himself to not be killed by them

DO NOT HOUND THE ACTORS FOR INFO ABOUT SEASON 2
This SAG strike is a no promotion strike, meaning that if any actor who is a part of the guild promotes a show or movie in any way, they will be kicked out of the union.
This also goes for the writer's strike. The writers being on strike means that the editing for the show has most likely come to a complete stop. Any edit or change to the show requires approval from the writers, and if they give any feedback during the strike, they can be kicked out of the union.
This is why we haven't heard any news about Season 2. The editors and effects people literally CAN'T do their job during the strike.
IT'S TIME TO STOP COMPLAINING AND START SUPPORTING THE WRITERS AND ACTORS AND EDITORS WHOSE LIVLIHOODS ARE AT STAKE!

HERE WE GO AGAIN, BABES
It feels odd to be switching gears to yell about the future when A Power Unbound is still 2 weeks (ONLY 2 WEEKS) away from release, but I am OVER THE MOON to be finally able to tell you about my 2024 & 2025 books! And....other, mysterious books to come after that!
Full details at the link above, but the main things you need to know are:
SWORDCROSSED, 2024. Low stakes, high heat, sharp steel. M/M romantasy. Extreme "Imagine Me & You" vibes of the 'what if I fell for my wedding vendor??' variety, but make it sexy sword fighting and trade guilds and con artists and corporate espionage. My editor has described one of the protags as having "the face of a god and the moral backbone of a deflated pastry" and honestly: she's right.
MAGICAL MEDICAL SCHOOL BOOK, 2025. My current WIP! The comps are A Deadly Education and Grey's Anatomy, and honestly that tells you most of what you need to know at this point. Secondary world. Multiple protagonists, multiple relationships. Murder. Yes they're all queer. Yes people make out in hospital ward storage rooms.

guild wars community, i bestow some treats to you:
absolute truckloads of concept art, generally organized by type. these pages are weirdly buried on the wiki and presumably easier to find if you're a wiki editor, but a lot of the images in these folders aren't linked to any other pages so they're very easy to miss.
check out these ungulate-like asura (and underground asura !!) concepts from gw1:

The writers strike has hit Day 100 – the point at which the last walkout by the Writers Guild of America ended in 2008. It’s a significant juncture, one that Chris Keyser and David A. Goodman, who co-chair the WGA’s negotiating committee, call a “milestone of shame” for the AMPTP. It also comes five days after the latest attempt to get both sides back to the negotiating table. That meeting between the WGA West’s Chief Negotiator Ellen Stutzman and her General Counsel Tony Segall and AMPTP boss Carol Lombardini and her team wasn’t as productive as many had hoped. While the WGA, late on Friday night, revealed that there was “no agreement” on resuming negotiations for a new MBA and, in a caustic note to members said that the “AMPTP playbook continues”, there were reasons to be more optimistic than at first glance. If you ignore the furor around press blackouts and trade leaks, the WGA stated that it was “willing to engage with the companies and resume negotiations in good faith to make a fair deal for all writers”.

Welcome to The Tyrian
What is The Tyrian?
The Tyrian is a fan-run blog dedicated to highlighting and sharing the creative works of other members of the Guild Wars community. In addition to art and writing, information on community-run and led events can also be found here, as well as community prompts and creative event weeks.
How do I get my work shared by The Tyrian?
Creative works tagged with #thetyrian will be reblogged here, but The Tyrian also takes submissions. Anything cool that catches the editor's eye is also bound to be shared, as well.
Who runs The Tyrian?
In character answer: Journalist Picah, a jaunty and cheerful asura who serves as the chief editor for The Tyrian out of Lion's Arch. Any non-admin asks will be answered by Picah. The real answer: One single person, me — Jackdaw (more commonly known as Rook or Rookfern by the community). My personal GW2 blog can be found over at @storm-called.

The End Is Near: "News" organizations using AI to create content, firing human writers
Tumblr media
source: X
Tumblr media
source: X
Tumblr media
source: X
an example "story" now comes with this warning:
Tumblr media
A new byline showed up Wednesday on io9: “Gizmodo Bot.” The site’s editorial staff had no input or advance notice of the new AI-generator, snuck in by parent company G/O Media.
G/O Media’s AI-generated articles are riddled with errors and outdated information, and block reader comments.
“As you may have seen today, an AI-generated article appeared on io9,” James Whitbrook, deputy editor at io9 and Gizmodo, tweeted. “I was informed approximately 10 minutes beforehand, and no one at io9 played a part in its editing or publication.”
Whitbrook sent a statement to G/O Media along with “a lengthy list of corrections.” In part, his statement said, “The article published on io9 today rejects the very standards this team holds itself to on a daily basis as critics and as reporters. It is shoddily written, it is riddled with basic errors; in closing the comments section off, it denies our readers, the lifeblood of this network, the chance to publicly hold us accountable, and to call this work exactly what it is: embarrassing, unpublishable, disrespectful of both the audience and the people who work here, and a blow to our authority and integrity.”
He continued, “It is shameful that this work has been put to our audience and to our peers in the industry as a window to G/O’s future, and it is shameful that we as a team have had to spend an egregious amount of time away from our actual work to make it clear to you the unacceptable errors made in publishing this piece.”
According to the Gizmodo Media Group Union, affiliated with WGA East, the AI effort has “been pushed by” G/O Media CEO Jim Spanfeller, recently hired editorial director Merrill Brown, and deputy editorial director Lea Goldman.
In 2019, Spanfeller and private-equity firm Great Hill Partners acquired Gizmodo Media Group (previously Gawker Media) and The Onion.
The Writers Guild of America issued a blistering condemnation of G/O Media’s use of artificial intelligence to generate content.
“These AI-generated posts are only the beginning. Such articles represent an existential threat to journalism. Our members are professionally harmed by G/O Media’s supposed ‘test’ of AI-generated articles.”
WGA added, “But this fight is not only about members in online media. This is the same fight happening in broadcast newsrooms throughout our union. This is the same fight our film, television, and streaming colleagues are waging against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) in their strike.”
The union, in its statement, said it “demands an immediate end of AI-generated articles on G/O Media sites,” which include The A.V. Club, Deadspin, Gizmodo, Jalopnik, Jezebel, Kotaku, The Onion, Quartz, The Root, and The Takeout.
but wait, there's more:
Just weeks after news broke that tech site CNET was secretly using artificial intelligence to produce articles, the company is doing extensive layoffs that include several longtime employees, according to multiple people with knowledge of the situation. The layoffs total 10 percent of the public masthead.
*
Greedy corporate sleazeballs using artificial intelligence are replacing humans with cost-free machines to barf out garbage content.
This is what end-stage capitalism looks like: An ouroborus of machines feeding machines in a downward spiral, with no room for humans between the teeth of their hungry gears.
Anyone who cares about human life, let alone wants to be a writer, should be getting out the EMP tools and burning down capitalist infrastructure right now before it's too late.
