odds of the show giving mat additional (non-endgame) love interest(s)? the books make such a big deal about what a flirt he is, but he doesn't actually do much Onscreen Romancing before he meets tuon, just his brief flings with melindhra and aludra (no, i do not count tylin as a Mat Romance). i feel like since they gave perrin a wife and made randgwene actually have a real relationship, it's not outside the realm of possibility that mat could have new romance(s) added if it served the story.

or they could also just flesh out his book ones more, especially aludra since that one is almost blink-and-you'll-miss-it in the books (although there's no guarantee aludra would make it into the show - depends on how they're planning to handle the dragon-cannon invention plotline). plus, with the condensing of events in the show, there may not be much time for him to have more than a 1-scene hookup with anyone besides melindhra (season 3 or 4) and tuon (whom he could potentially meet in season 5 if his ACOS & WH ebou dar activities are condensed into a single season).

TSS: some things have not aged all that well (some comments from and about George) still have no idea if i did read this book or not way back in 2013. wish Barnes was proud of them in the show for Combe Carey Hall as well

and i would have loved to see them deliver the scene when Lucy tells Lockwood what happened back home just they have the acting chops to make [436] me yell "I trust your Talent and your judgement, and i'm very proud to have you on my team. OK?" (also lmao about Lucy running from the conversation with Lockwood and then what Lucy fell on when the skull spoke) also "Lockwood laughed again. Really laughed, I mean. okay so i finished it and it was fun to read overall but i felt like past episode 3 was very rushed and condensed (makes sense since episode 3 finished past the half-way point of the book) and it stopped being as well written (barely any internal dialogue and descriptors), and some moments were mischaracterised heavily (including a lot of the willex) and juke just didn't seem developed at all. also i wish reggie had gotten more pov chapters since he's, y'know, a main character. i'm pretty sure he got, like, 2 :( also a lot of the music scenes lacked emotion but since this is an adaptation of something with music without music i'll let it slide. it was still nice to read either way.

Coming Out Swinging; or, It's So Early In The Year To Be Over-Buying Books But Here We Are.

Okay, so: I know I set one of my bookish goals this year to be "buy fewer books," BUT! First off, preorders don't count, and second off, the Two Lines Press haul was logged under last year's book purchases, and it's not my fault they arrived a week later. RAVEN TOWER I have no excuses for.

I have really enjoyed everything of Two Lines Press that I've read so far--their Calico series are perfect bite-sized anthologies in translation, vaguely themed (and THIS IS US LOSING COUNT has the English and Russian version of the poems presented side by side! I can read both of those!!). I'm ride or die for Wayward Children installments (this is why I love January), and a friend spoke very highly of RAVEN TOWER so I picked up a used copy from HPB. I'm very pleased with my piecemeal haul to start the year! I swear I'll buy fewer books once I work through all my coupons/gift cards! I love books!!

BECAUSE THIS BOOK IS AN AD. FOR GALAXY'S EDGE. IT HAS TO DESCRIBE EVERYTHING THERE. BECAUSE THEY'RE TRYING TO SELL A PRODUCT.

hello, this is a bit too specific I think but do you have any historical recs with a ~Ian Mackenzie~ type of FMC? She has actual mental disabilities but everyone around her would rather shove her into an asylum than have a little patience with her, you know? That is until the MMC shows up? Thank you so much ❤

I do have a recommendation, but gently I would say it's better to use "mental illness" or "neurodivergent" as umbrella terms versus disabilities. I use both "mentally ill" or "neurodivergent" when discussing my own health stuff :), and I assume that's the kind of thing you're talking about?

Hyacinth by S.M. LaViolette is what you would probably be looking for. Hy is on the spectrum, and while not EVERYONE is mean to her (her siblings love her) a lot of them don't understand her. And her mother is straight up emotionally abusive, locks her up (though not in an asylum) and does THREATEN to put her in an asylum, quite seriously. Hyacinth is pretty independent and frosty because of that, but she finds a friend in the hero (a scarred and slutty duke) who then becomes her fuckbuddy, and THEN he falls in love. Hyacinth doesn't believe she herself can fall in love because of the abuse she suffered
