Summary: The thing with Auston is good, and it will probably always be good, Zach thinks idly. It strikes a good balance: they care enough because they’re bros, but Zach would rather have Dylan, and would rather Auston have Mitch.

But for now, they have each other, and it helps, a little bit.

Recommendation: This fic is fun. Deals with the weird dynamic of having a friend be your fuck buddy while having a massive crush on someone else and also the negotiation of identity and how out you can be in certain spaces. Auston/Zach are a fun, uncomplicated for them and confusing for others dynamic that I enjoy. My perception of Auston is that he projects cool but is internally somewhat a sassy mess so he worked well for me in this fic. I also totally feel for Zach for not wanting to come out to the (he thinks) straight friend he’s crushing on and pining for. Mitch isn’t in this much but he’s great when he’s there and Dylan is so earnest and lovable too. Him taking a few days to think it over is just. I love it, he’s perfect. Also the visual of Zach and Auston fist bumping post blow jobs because they’re bros is fun for me. And also them telling each other not to be dumbasses. Honestly their whole friendship is just A+.
