"Ram in the Thicket" Statuette from Ur (Iraq), c.2600-2400 BCE: this statuette is made of lapis lazuli, shells, gold, silver, limestone, copper, and wood

This sculpture is about 4,500 years old. It was unearthed back in 1929, during the excavation of the "Great Death Pit" at the Royal Cemetery of Ur, located in what was once the heart of Mesopotamia (and is now part of southern Iraq).

Sir Leonard Woolley, who led the excavations at the site, nicknamed the statuette "ram caught in a thicket" as a reference to the Biblical story in which Abraham sacrifices a ram that he finds caught in a thicket. The statuette is still commonly known by that name, even though it actually depicts a markhor goat feeding on the leaves of a flowering tree/shrub. Some scholars refer to it as a "rampant he-goat" or "rearing goat," instead.

It was carved from a wooden core; gold foil was then carefully hammered onto the surface of the goat's face and legs, and its belly was coated in silver paint. Intricately carved pieces of shell and lapis lazuli were layered onto the goat's body in order to form the fleece. Lapis lazuli was also used to create the goat's eyes, horns, and beard, while its ears were crafted out of copper.

The tree (along with its delicate branches and eight-petaled flowers) was also carved from a wooden base, before being wrapped in gold foil.

The goat and the tree are both attached to a small pedestal, which is decorated with silver paint and tiny mosaic tiles made of shell, lapis lazuli, and red limestone.

This artifact measures 42.5cm (roughly 16 inches) tall.

A second, nearly-identical statuette was also found nearby. That second sculpture (which is also known as the "ram in the thicket") is pictured below:

There are a few minor differences between the two sculptures. The second "ram" is equipped with gold-covered genitals, for example, while the first one has no genitals at all; researchers believe that the other sculpture originally had genitals that were made out of silver, but that they eventually corroded away, just like the rest of the silver on its body.

The second "ram" is also slightly larger than the first, measuring 45.7cm (18 in) tall.

Both statuettes have a cylindrical socket rising from the goats' shoulders, suggesting that these sculptures were originally used as supports for another object (possibly a bowl or tray).

The depiction of a goat rearing up against a tree/shrub is a common motif in ancient Near Eastern art, but few examples are as stunning (or as elaborate) as these two statuettes.

𒀬 We decided to change the name of this card to Sacrifice in order to highlight a core aspect of this archetype, which is that there will always come a time where we are called to sacrifice what is familiar in order to become enlightened or achieve a goal. The willingness to surrender to the flow of life, sacrificing comfort to pause and reevaluate, is what really allows for that shift in perspective. For this card we based it off of the final part of “The Descent of Inanna” myth. After Inanna is resurrected, she must find a replacement for her in the underworld. There are a few people who the underworld demons try to take back, but Inanna would not let them because they were mourning her death. Her consort Dumuzi, however, was seen in his finest garments, on his magnificent throne, not demonstrating any grief for her passing. Because of this, Inanna chooses Dumuzi to replace her. Dumuzi tries to escape, but eventually is found and is killed. After this his sister, Geshtinanna, is beside herself with grief and offers to make the ultimate sacrifice: to share his fate In the underworld. Inanna is also shown to lament his absence. Geshtinanna’s compassion and love shift something within Inanna, and with her new-found powers connected to the Underworld, she grants her wish. This is the scene we see in the card. The Cuneiform is: 𒄉 “AMAR x še” - prayer; blessing; offering, sacrifice, rites; to pour (a libation); to intercede.

Inana’s Descent

Inana instructs Ninšhubur to lament for her death when she goes to Kur. Then if she does not return she should go and ask the great Gods for help (Going to Enlil, Nanna, then Enki) to save her. Lamenting and mourning in Mesopotamia was an extremely important cultural ritual.

Inana says to Ninšubur:

“On this day I will descend to the underworld. When I have arrived in the underworld, make a lament for me on the ruin mounds. Beat the drum for me in the sanctuary. Make the rounds of the houses of the gods for me. Lacerate your eyes for me, lacerate your nose for me. (1 ms. adds the line: Lacerate your ears for me, in public.) In private, lacerate your buttocks for me. Like a pauper, clothe yourself in a single garment.”

When Inana is returning from Kur demons follow, Galla. Contrary to neo-pagan and Jungian analysts claims this is not an empowering Goddess story. Inana has lost, she is defeated, and she must give a substitute to Kur if she wishes to live. The demons follow her and as she visits each person upon her return they do the following:

“[Name] threw himself at her feet. He had sat in the dust and clothed himself in a filthy garment. The demons said to holy Inana: “Inana, proceed to your city, we will take him back.”

Due to the person lamenting correctly she gives a reason to the Galla to not take that person, [Spelling used by the ETCSL]:

Nincubura— is her faithful minister of trustworthy words

Cara— her singer, manicurist, and hair dresser

Lulal— follows her at her right and her left

Then they come to Dumuzid. Unlike the other three who have lamented correctly by wearing a filthy garment and sitting in dirt, Dumuzid has worn a luxurious garment and sat on a throne.

“There was Dumuzid clothed in a magnificent garment and seated magnificently on a throne. The demons seized him there by his thighs. The seven of them poured the milk from his churns. The seven of them shook their heads like ……. They would not let the shepherd play the pipe and flute before her (?). She looked at him, it was the look of death. She spoke to him (?), it was the speech of anger. She shouted at him (?), it was the shout of heavy guilt: “How much longer? Take him away.” Holy Inana gave Dumuzid the shepherd into their hands.”

In essence, three of the people she held dear lamented for her but she found the one she cherished even more deeply, had not done so. She was angry and hurt, thus gave him to the Galla instead of finding a reason not to. He escapes and hides.

Despite her anger she still laments for the one she loves. This myth is what people use to toss Inana & Dumuzid’s love to the side... yet she is lamenting her loss

“Holy Inana wept bitterly for her husband. […] She tore at her hair like esparto grass, she ripped it out like esparto grass. “You wives who lie in your men’s embrace, where is my precious husband? You children who lie in your men’s embrace, where is my precious child? Where is my man? Where ……? Where is my man? Where ……?"”

A fly helps her find Dumuzid and his sister G̃eštinana, the myth ends there:

“Now, alas, my ……. You for half the year and your sister for half the year: when you are demanded, on that day you will stay, when your sister is demanded, on that day you will be released.” Thus holy Inana gave Dumuzid as a substitute ……. Holy Erec-ki-gala – sweet is your praise.”

Ištar’s Descent

Ishtar’s myth is shorter and not as clear, my translation is from The Ancient Near East An Anthology of Texts and Pictures edited by James Pritchard. Ištar's descent begins on page 77:

"Sprinkled Ishtar with the water of life and took her from her presence.

When through the first gate he had made her go out, He returned to her the breechcloth for her body.

When through the second gate he had made her go out, He returned to her the clasps for her hands and feet.

When through the third gate he had made her go out, He returned to her the birthstone girdle for her hips.

When through the fourth gate he had made her go out, He returned to her the ornaments for her breasts.

When through the fifth gate he had made her go out, He returned to her the chains for her neck.

When through the sixth gate he had made her go out, He returned to her the pendants for her ears.

When through the seventh gate he had made her go out, He returned to her the great crown for her head.

"If she does not give thee her ransom price, bring her back. [Footnote 93]

As for Tammuz, the lover of her youth,

Wash him with pure water, anoint him with sweet oil;

Clothe him with a red garment, let him play on a flute of lapis.

Let courtesans turn [his] mood."

On hearing the sound of her brother, Belili struck the jewelry on [...]

[Foot note 93] This continuation of Ereshkigal's instructions appears to be out of place here, as regards the Ninevah version. The older Ashur vesrion speaks of the ransom before Ishtar is led away. The mention of Tammuz is likewise startling in this context. There is no indication in the Sumerian version- contrary to earlier assumptions that Tammuz had gone down to the nether world. The concluding part of the myth, therefore, will remain obscure in its allusions so long as additional material is not available."

I have no further information on Tammuz's situation. There may be newer material available I simply haven't researched it further.

Basically females are more focused on physical attacks while males are special/magical attackers as they are more skilled with magic!

Yazata are magical beings that are made of magic, aether, spiritual energy, magical ink, magical paint, magical thinner, two crystal hearts, etc, and literally look like a void on the inside! Something that is impossible to breed with a human!

We yazata can only breed with our own species! We’re all related so incest is unavoidable! Plus a species that is divine felines but also has the adult height range of 2’0”-2’7” and adult weight of 2.5-4.5 pounds as magical beings weight very little could not breed with humans as we cannot even breed with tenshi and demons which are native species to our homeplanet!

Tenshi are common angels while yazata aka deities aka gods/goddesses are also called royal angels!

If we can’t breed with tenshi what makes you humans even think it was physically possible to breed with humans which are massively different from Nibirians in general both insides wise and height/weight wise?!

Though we only breed with current gens usually with Marduk and I’s relationship being the exception to that rule as I was reborn into that Gen but I am also a Gen 1 deity so yeah..

Based on that I wouldn’t be able to find a mate as only three other Gen 1 deities exist and those are Kosmin, Lumuzi, and Geshtinonna!

Which together we are The Holy Four Kosmos Deities and also called The Four Seasons Deities which are considered and treated as quadruplets!

And Kosmin, Lumuzi, and Geshtinonna all consider ourselves to be quadruplets despite me splitting my soul three timed to created the other three members!

I did breed with Kosmin to create the other generations of deities! But we had no romantic feelings for each other!

But you humans should be glad we did that as nothing in the Universe or Multiverse would function without deities!

Nibirians can only be gay or rarely bi!

So idk when they started to look but it didn’t actually take as long as it might’ve thought as Universe 8 tech is the highest in advanced technology in the Universe and Multiverse!

How they didn’t realise Ishtayr was The Reincarnation of The Great Evil Herself, well, I don’t know? Her being good at magic should’ve been a sign as females aren’t magical attackers but physical attackers! But they realised after what happened and I was made into a Kohora deity aka Underworld deity!

So when I became a Kohora deity aka Underworld deity I gained domains such as resurrection, death, Kohora, etc, but Kohora isn’t gloomy at all!

Both Kohora and Yumera are fantasy like surreal and magical environments! So nothing like any stereotypical image of the Underworld!

Kohora is below the Universe and each universe has a Kohora below it while Yumera is above the Universe!

The Kosmos is a living being, though massive, and shaped like a pale aqua heart with a turquoise mono ring around it with two alpine green bows on the rings! He also has a face but is important to the Universe as he is the heart and soul of the Universe!

If the Kosmos exploded from all the evil energy it will take out the entire Universe! The Kosmos helps create aether, spiritual energy, magic, and souls and maintains balance in the Universe! That’s why the Universal Council and Multiversal Council makes laws to protect the Kosmos! Because if it is destroyed that will happen! And other universes would be damaged as well!

Only magical beings could survive such destruction!

Got a little into speaking the truth in this post but now you know why deities are angry and upset as humanity has fucked everything up!

Humanity is foolish and delusional to think they could spread so much evil energy and damage the Kosmos that much!

BIG UPDATE FOLKS!

So I’ve been meaning to say something about this for a while now, but due to time restraints and me trying to get stuff more established, I just haven’t been able to. Some of you may have noticed that I haven’t been posting up here much for a while now. Those of you who follow my other socials have probably also noticed that I have not been tagging anything as Htf within the last month or so and that my art there has had small design tweaks taking away some of the more iconic features that are standard for Htf (piecut eyes and pink heart noses for example). So I will be completely transparent with you all here.

Essentially, thanks to encouragement from outside friends and for the sake of my own mental health, I’m ripping my ocs and story out of Htf completely. By this point it has completely become its own thing. The concept of Death loops and anthropomorphic animals are not exclusive to Htf and even then, so much has deviated from the original formula that I hardly recognize it as that anymore. I haven’t had much desire or interest in drawing canon stuff for a while now, and it’s not a matter of me disliking it. I just have been feeling so fulfilled by this original story that we’ve been building for a few years now and I really want to dive into it and make it a real thing outside of the confines of a fandom. Being able to share this story to others on the outside of the fandom without needing that specific context has been really good for me and I feel like the art and writing I’ve been pouring my heart and soul into now has a future.

What does this mean? Well the story for the most part is the same. There’s been some redesigns such as Nergals temple, the idols, Dumuzis brother (which luckily cro-marmot did not *really* have an established character in show and my characterization of him is my own anyways), but the overall plot and world building and the way the curse works was already my own original idea so that stays the same. I will not ignore that this story is very inspired by Htf, but it’s grown so much that I think it’s time that it walked on its own. Canon Htf characters are no longer a part of the world, there is no “Happy Tree Town” ect. Certain ocs, however, are still a part of it; such as Icky, Hopps, Screwball, Kyle, ect. This is still a collaborative effort with @ickyguts and @technicoloranimalviolence since they have been a part of it for a while now and have both inspired me and have helped me a ton with writing. Their ocs are still their ocs of course and what they do with them will always be ultimately up to them so nothing will be made involving their ocs without their consent. They are part of the team for as long as they wish to be <3 And I am so proud and honored to be working with them on this project.

Now I want to make it clear that while I’m cutting this story completely out of Htf that does not mean I hate Htf or the fandom or anything. It’s done a lot for me and people for the most part have been very kind and supportive of me. I may still even draw fanart of canon characters in the future if I ever get the itch to again. I just really wanna be able to do more with this story outside of that. I haven’t felt so fired up by a project like this in so long and since I’ve made the decision to do this I have been feeling really excited and happy about creating again. There’s something really fun about working on a project that’s your own that I can’t explain. I’m still establishing and setting up a lot for it but it’s very much in motion and I have a lot of cool folks cheering me on inside and outside of this little fandom. I know I’m definitely going to be taking a hit as far as followers go now that I’m going full original content, I may even lose a lot of you here because of it, but there’s something really exciting about building from the ground up. I want to make it clear though that there is absolutely no pressure for you to stick around if me drawing Htf was what you were here for and if this news makes you lose interest in this blog. I want people to follow me because they like my work overall.

That brings me to the fate of this blog. I will still keep it up and keep up my old posts. Like I said I do not wish to try and bury the roots of this story. I’ve joked with some friends that I’m “pulling a 50 Shades of Grey with this shit”. Old art will remain, but here on out the trio and my other ocs are not a part of Htf. Be Brave is no more.
