okay so I gotta say, I don’t believe the whole “vampires cannot make good art” thing. I just don’t buy it. Like, call me biased, but as a writer, I don’t think you could talk the way they do and not be good at least at writing. There’s no way.
(you are a challenge every sunset, Saint Louis)
(I had powers now, and decades of rage to process - and so it was both random and unfortunate the man picked that night to dabble in fuckery) (I mean are you kidding me, that line is MUSIC)
(THE NAME! The name, unuttered in our home for twenty-three years - said over and over, until it was pounding in my head like a hammer!)
As such: what I personally think is actually happening is something far more mundane. Picture this - you've just been turned. Vampirism has enhanced everything about you, so your senses are like 10 times more distracting, you're stronger, faster, you're murdering nightly, you're most likely born out of some sort of trauma, and on top of that you've got years to compound whatever issues you already had - which, surprise surprise, are also somehow more intense now, whodathunk, mainly because your senses/murder/immortality are fucking with them BIG. Seriously, think about it: how much would vampire senses exacerbate symptoms of ADHD or autism? Would the species change, the nocturnal lifestyle, the mind gift contribute to dissociation, psychosis, schizophrenia? Would the killings and the loss of community be a factor in the way your depression might develop - or religious scrupulosity? OCD?
It's not that vampires cannot make good art. It's just that it becomes supremely difficult to do so, especially given that they cannot take human medication/finding a nocturnal therapist would be a bitch even if you're modern/Louiiss mon cher what eez a coping mechanisme y'know. I am convinced with 100000% certainty that, given enough time and dedication a vampire could absolutely make good art again* - though, in all fairness, very few of the ones we know possess the patience. Mind gifts/vampire speed + strength/inherited riches tend to destroy that sort of skill real fast; still, though, it's not a curse. It's symptoms disease.
* It is also possible, just as it is for humans, to develop all sorts of technical skills and still lack the “eye” for art (cough Marius cough) - but in that case, maybe try music?.. start writing? Get into ASMR? you’ve got an eternity to fuck around. Do whatever.

For once I wished Carol would explain a bit more, because there was a post on these costumes, ages ago, which explained the cuts, lengths, design and such more fittingly, imho. I mean, Carol obviously wanted to stay within the character reasoning (that I don't fully agree with either, because Lestat designed these, and he would not have designed them to reflect Louis and Claudia feeling unequal(?!), and Lestat provided other clothes as well as has been stated within the show, and there we do not see this supposed dressing-down?), but nothing on why they chose to do what they chose to do with the cuts and lengths, et cetera.
Oh well. Maybe in the future.
The post in question:

One point that I personally haven't seen a lot make about amc's interview with the vampire especially compared to the movie (and honestly the book) is how much of a character new orleans is. I'm biased being from new orleans (seeing black vampires in New orleans made me wanna originally watch the show lol) but it's really amazing to see.
Setting plays such a pivotal role in storytelling/character development and this show just gets it. Like in the movie if they didn't mention new orleans it wouldn't even feel like the story takes place there while with the show new orleans is so prevalent. Not be all English class but Anne Rice was from new orleans and set here story there for a reason. If season 1 wasn't set in New Orleans you could see how this wouldn't even be the same show

Mardi Gras being one day of hedonism and sin and then Lent being 40 days of repenting is just Louis de Pointe du Lac 24/7 for all the million years of his immortal life

Harry Collett (Jacaerys Velaryon) and Elliot Grihault (Lucerys Velaryon) at Marvel DC Plus Comic Con in Birchington (east of the Thames Estuary in England) on May 21st.
Yes, Elliot has gotten notably taller since Season 1 was filmed.
Harry and Elliot ran into a familiar face (or should I say “faceless”) at the event.

A man can imagine all the fan speculation that is bound to set in motion.
Though I don’t think Faceless Men like Jaqen H’ghar have extended lifespans like Red Priests/Priestesses. So it doesn’t seem likely we’ll be seeing Jaqen in HotD.

Louis, babe, I LOVE that you finally put on a little yellow cardigan at the end of season 2 after spending the entire time in Dubai wearing navy and grey retirement-core sweaters but sis you're going to have to up your wardrobe game for season 3. Your ex husband is going on tour, with an album he wrote FOR YOU and he knows that your second marriage is in the bin. Lestats concert is not the time for a little cashmere pullover quiet-luxury number, if you're going to run away from a group of vampires trying to kill you you should do it in leather pants and a sheer top. eyeliner. chains. jewelry. glitter. Daniel was immortal like one week and he was wearing leather jackets, you can do it too.

I’m an idiot who didn’t know what Mardi Gras actually meant and Ohmygod I didn’t realise the religious significance of ‘fat Tuesday’
The literal feasting on fatty tasty food before you sacrifice something for lent, the writers really are geniuses
Meaning the actual murder feast of course but really it’s about Louis being gluttonous and enjoying loving lestat in the lead up and then giving him up for a while …but not *forever. Louis giving Lestat up for lent is tragic and hilarious
Ha, I only know the sheer basics about that, but yeah.
It is tragic and hilarious at the same time, and right up the writer's alley^^.
And... it really makes you wonder if Louis might not have given Claudia all the info as to how to kill vampires (if he ever had those infos in the first place)... because, I mean, even if they adapted the lore a bit with the bad blood - none of what they did was likely to actually kill him. Except the fire (and the scattering of ashes) and we know Louis simply refused that. Violently.
So yeah.
How aware was Louis of himself there is the big question :))) (once more.)

Music is a form of prayer in New Orleans and across the sea in Haiti. It connects the living and the dead, the present with the past. Every year, in February and March, people all over the western hemisphere gather together to sing, dance, parade, and celebrate Carnival. The most famous Carnival celebration in the United States is New Orleans’ Mardi Gras. Krewe Du Kanaval is back for its fourth year, February 9-12, celebrating the cultural connection shared by New Orleans and Haiti. This year’s theme and “bal” will honor the Warrior Women of Ayiti and Nouvelle-Orléans and feature Cimafunk & DJ Garo, RAM, 79rs Gang, DJ San Farafina, and surprise guests on Friday, February 10 at 8 p.m. in the Civic Theatre. According to Krewe’s website, Anacaona was “The indigenous Queen of the Tainos who heroically held the Spanish at bay longer than any other and kept her kingdom under the rule of its people.” Adbaraya Toya, an elite African warrior of the Dahomey Kingdom, was captured and brought to Haiti as a slave but ended up raising the famous Haitian revolutionary Jean-Jacques Dessalines. Lastly, New Orleans’ famed “vaudou queen” Marie Laveau will be celebrated for the “rare multiracial community” she built and sustained in New Orleans.
