Tale of a Dreamon update is underway, have a preview meanwhile

Been thinking about this again. About c!Sapnap wearing the mask and taunting c!Dream, knowing it’s importance. For someone who believes c!Dream doesn’t have any attachments and doesn’t care about him, he sure does take a lot of effort to take something for no other reason than c!Dream’s attachment to it. Because it’s not like he needed the armor, he already had some. If c!Dream truly doesn’t have attachments then it doesn’t matter what armor and mask he wears to terrorize the server. C!Sapnap just didn’t want to give him back what belonged to him, what he longed for - a piece of himself, his persona, his mask.

And I keep thinking about c!Tubbo and c!Tommy in theory wearing c!Dream’s armor in the disc finale - wearing the mask. And the utter disrespect that comes with, but also how powerful they must have felt wearing the face of the monster that haunted their dreams.

So, if in the finale c!Dream’s helmet, that he takes off for c!Tommy, represents his mask, does that mean that when c!Sapnap puts on c!Dream’s armor, Nightmare, he is putting on and stealing c!Dream’s mask? - Because I’m not gonna lie that really puts a new perspective on that betrayal… Furthermore, when c!Techno brings c!Dream armor in prison, did he make him a mask and bring it to him… and then take away the mask later? - If so, again that’s kinda screwed up. Though you could argue that perhaps he made c!Dream a mask for the jailbreak so he had one to face the server with and then because they were trying to not seem like allies he took it back, knowing that c!Dream would get another one. Which also begs the question, did c!Punz make c!Dream a mask for after prison or is he simply handing over one of c!Dream’s masks?… When c!Tommy in the minecart skirmish stole c!Dream’s armor, was he taunting him with his own mask? - Because oof that’s some serious violation and disrespect…

In other words, if you think that c!Dream’s helmet in the finale represents the mask (which I’d say is implied by c!Tommy) does that same logic apply across the board or is it just for that moment? And if it does apply to rest of the lore, wow does that have some implications…

thinking about c!dream earlier on in the server just makes me sad man. like, c!dream has never been a perfect character. he's always been flawed, always been a bit of an asshole, always had control issues. but also he knew that. he tried to work on that. he and tommy were friends, despite being flawed people with their own issues that would bump into conflicts because of the ways that they differed. c!dream tried, god, he tried; he wasn't even on the server, when the drug van happened, and walked into a place with someone who was practically a stranger to him building a wall and calling for war and having turned half the people dream knew against him, apparently, for no reason that he could've known at the time, and he had looked straight at tommy and tubbo and asked if that was what they really wanted when wilbur told them that there was no such thing as dual citizenship. he tells tommy when he has to sell a disc for spirit's leather even though tommy had surrendered the discs to him at the end of the revolution because he knows it'll matter to him. he and tommy truce, multiple times, and c!dream gets tangled into conflicts that literally don't involve him repeatedly and gets targeted Because He's Dream repeatedly and he plays along with that trivia contest and he gives gifts to fundy and tommy after terrorizing them a little for fun and he plays along with the dreamon thing and he keeps getting pulled into fights that weren't his but tries to make them a little more fair when they get him involved. he fucks around with tommy and they have fun, they're friends, and when he and wilbur look like they're in danger dream is one of the first to find them and lend them real, practical, valuable aid. he calls himself "Big D" in that book and he tells the man that wrote him as a tyrant that he doesn't want to be a villain in the story anymore. he asks tommy if he's okay, and watches that kid's back when he walks alone and unarmed into manberg, and fights with him at the battle of the lake and all of that is thrown back in his face as being a lie. half the intial community structures that exist were built by him; the community house, the nether portal and hub, the prime path. during a time where every other piece of leverage got burned or killed (rip the casualties of the pet war), dream was kind of known for being one that could be fairly traded with, that would minimize permanent damage. the kills in the final control room were originally to strip lmanburg of their gear, which he had kept in a chest so it could be returned to them after the war.

like no c!dream isn't perfect at the beginning of the server. yes he's kind of a jerk sometimes, kind of an asshole sometimes, kind of neurotic most of the time. but god dammit like c!dream does try to mitigate the worst of his control issues, when they flare up early on; the initial disc war ends with tommy getting his discs back as well as a stack of diamonds, in exchange for a netherite chestplate. he's a flawed character and he's still someone pretty friendly on the whole to most of the server, he's also kind of just known for being a little weird. he gives gifts randomly. he fixed creeper holes, and houses, and went along with bits. like whatever im a c!drolo c!dream woobifier and i admit it lol but for as much evil as he ends up doing, pretty damn consistently early on, he's . friendly? kind? funny? helpful? their neighbor. their friend. c!dream isn't just some stranger that flew off the handle; he's someone they knew and lived with who had his actions taken in bad faith because the goddamn story said so and kept fucking trying anyway until he believed the lie too. like he was just a guy!! a guy they knew and lived with!!! like my god

THE FUCKING DREAMON LORE???

Scrapped lore bits from the Dream SMP I'm still mad we never got:

-Whatever lore Nihachu had planned for the day Doomsday happened

-The Egg finale scheduled for immediately after the Red Banquet

-Jschlatt's Las Nevadas resurrection (heavily implied by Quackity trying to get the Revival Book after gambling with Glatt and cc!Schlatt saying he'd be coming back to the SMP)

-Any further development of Puffychu

-Ranboo getting resurrected (cc!Ran saying he was meant to be revived two weeks after the prison break)

-Hitting on 16 in livestream format. Like I know we still got the lore but cc!Wilbur simply could not fit what the format brings into written form. The long periods of characters just talking to each other, body language, random impromptu moments, etc.

-The Manhunt Arc (slight speculation but the streams where Tommy reinforced Tubbo's old house and convinced Eryn, Sam Nook, and Phil to help him track and kill Dream after the prison break felt like it was setting up something)

-Cyberknife lore (cc!Techno planned on having his character leave and acting as an antagonist for the syndicate)

-Ranboo's ARG (never properly finished)

i forgot about this headcanon! i imagined it as a part of his admin powers that he hasn't mastered yet-- a way to communicate quickly with the players on his server. i think philza would recognize it.

Dream dropped himself into the kitchen chair, letting it creak loudly under his weight. Phil didn't even know he was awake already.

The arctic had settled into a slow, soft routine; Philza was usually first to wake, and he'd start breakfast as Dream and Technoblade joined him at their own pace. This morning, he had deep pockets of purple under his eyes and he seemed unable to hold himself up. His head drifted into his hands as he sat at the time. His hair was a mess.

Philza chuckled at him. The old man hadn't slept too well, either, but he was chipper as always as he tried to make food quickly. He put a kettle on the stove to get Dream's tea started. "Mornin', mate," he said, "I guess Techno really wore you out yesterday, yeah?"

"Mm."

"I'm surprised you didn't sleep in more."

"Couldn't sleep," Dream said as he rubbed a hand groggily across his face. "I'm so sore. I don't wanna look at firewood ever again."

"Ah, nothing a warm bath and some pain meds can't fix. You must've pushed yourself too hard."

Phil continued with breakfast. He opted for bagels that morning-- it was quick and easy, and made up for lost time since he was moving slowly. He also had apples on the stove for some homemade applesauce, and it made the whole cabin smell absolutely lovely. He mixed them occasionally, checked on the bagels, and peaked over his shoulder at Dream. The poor boy was nearly falling asleep again.

He jumped when the kettle started to whistle. Phil prepared an English Breakfast tea for him in his favorite mug, with milk and sugar.

"Thanks," Dream croaked, his thin fingers wrapping around the mug, cradling it delicately in both hands. Phil watched as he raised it to his face, sniffed at the air, and moved his hair aside so he could blow cool air on the surface.

"You didn't tell me that Sam poisoned you," Philza said.

Dream froze, green eyes darting to Phil's face.

"How did you know that?"

Phil turned his attention back to the apples, turning his back. "I had an odd dream last night."

Dream put the mug down, his back straightening. "Tell me what you saw."

"A part of the prison I didn't recognize, with chairs. I saw scraps of food on a table-- all potatoes, I think, but maybe not-- and I heard Sam asking questions. About Tommy. But I-- you-- felt so sick, the room was spinning. Could barely understand the questions at all. Dream, I asked you if Quackity did all of the damage, and you said yes." "And I didn't lie. Sam didn't-- Sam didn't hurt me. Not really. None of these scars are from him." Before Philza could voice a protest, Dream continued, "Listen, I-- I'm sorry. I don't know why I keep doing this. I did it to Techno, too, I-- sometimes I can control dreams on purpose, but more often I just... force people to witness random things that I don't even want them to see. I'm really sorry, Phil. I'll try to stop."

"No, no," Phil started, "I think this explains a lot. I've seen something like this before." "You have?"

"Mm-hmm. You projected a memory to me. If you can harness this, I think you'd be able to communicate to people even when they're awake. Sounds convenient, yeah?"

A way to communicate privately. Dream liked the idea.

Phil continued, "I'm angry about what I saw, don't get me wrong. Pissed off, really. But I'm glad to have discovered this. We can work on it."

Dream ran his fingertips along the handle of the mug. The glaze was smooth and cold, and it fit inside his palms neatly. He saw Phil watching him, waiting to find out if he would drink.

He drank.

i think about fundy a lot and had some questions: theres a pretty large gap between dear theodosia and the lost and the lord, what was that period of time like for fundy philza and wilbur? 'cause fundy obviously comes back to wilbur later but like.. we last see him as a tiny tiny kid and then the next time we see him he's a young adult. did the author team have anything in mind for that time gap of him living with phil? and second question, im under the impression dreamons are a vague concept in dsmp canon but did yall have any specific ideas about how all that works? final obligatory mention that i love orp so so much. clearly since im sitting here thinking about time skip fundy like two years later

the deal was that fundy would live with phil however long it took for wilbur to be child safe again.

phil was a pretty good grandpa! he also happened to be the lesser god of death and every day was bring your grandkid to work day whether fundy realized it or not. they never stayed in one place long and phil instilled a fascination for architectural wizardry alongside a hermit's paranoia for wild magic in fundy.

fundy and wil stayed in contact/visitation, and by the time fundy returned with the completion of the l'manburg wall, kid was already at the (in-universe acceptable) age to start looking at finding an apprenticeship, which he found in the hunters. fundy would stay over in his old room when he was off duty, but they kind of forgot they were in each other's lives until wilbur started housing tommy. long time separation due to neglect does that to a bitch.

our concept of the dreamons was never super complex. basically it was a state of being possessed, which would induce changes in the body.

HI SORRY i got this ask in the middle of my girlfriend doing a bit on my tumblr so i forgot to respond. thank you so much, im glad it's gripping you :D not much i want to say right now due to the fact that i don't want to spoil too much, but a little fun fact about this fic is that it spawned from an until dawn au i was writing in my head but didnt really care to write on paper bc this fic (banger clingyduo horror au, highly recommend) reminded me that dreamons exist. it is nothing like the until dawn fic though except for the existence of dreamons lmao.

i'll also post a little sneak peak of chapter 2 under the cut for anyone who doesn't mind some spoilers :]

“Oh, no,” the tone of Dream’s voice takes a turn toward teasing. It somehow makes the mask look more disturbing. “We’re just… waiting on the protein.”

“The protein?” Tubbo asks weakly.

“Mm,” Dream responds, that grin on his mask certainly reflected underneath it. If Dream even has an underneath it. Tubbo could swear he’s looking directly into his soul. “It’s been a while since we had something good.”

Tubbo looks to Ranboo in alarm and finds their eyes already on him with the most wet, pitiful look Tubbo’s ever seen. It would almost be cute if Tubbo didn’t want to punch his fucking lights out. Of course this is how his life goes. His best friend disappears, Tubbo meets a nice guy who wants to help him find said friend, and now Tubbo’s going to be eaten. Tubbo doesn’t want to be fucking eaten.

Oh. It hits him now. These fuckers ate Tommy.

idm the cdiscduo demon angel take but only when its not used to be like 'aw imp ctommy' infantilizing shit and justifying his height based on it like when people draw him like a toddler and then say hes an imp. also dont like the ''demon turned good'' just keep it as demon but probably not hell born and very different to c!bbh. Angel c!dream is fine but people try to twist it to be like he is obsessed with rules and order when c!dream canonically enjoys chaos at times. Also seen people say hes like adam from hazbin hotel which I think is odd. I think the hc of c!disc both being human is slightly better than demon-angel imo with c!wil, c!punz, c!george being humans too

Also I respect hcs but angel!c!tommy is just not possible.

Yup. I’m pretty much the same. I mean - you do you, boo - and if demon or angel dsmp member makes you happy then whatever, but to be honest with Badboyhalo being a demon it doesn’t necessarily make sense to say other human characters are also demons because why wouldn’t they look the same (obviously you could derive reasons but still). Plus their is canon specific mythology of the dsmp with Mumza and DreamXD that doesn’t relate to the Biblical doctrine. So there’s no reason to say whether either of them are angels or demons besides Bad, as there is no such evidence to support that. Is the Nether not Hell? Eryn is from the Nether is he too a demon? Where is Heaven?… are just some starting questions. Again you could theorize or make up answers but meh.

On the other hand, while I don’t think Dream is an angel, he is certainly connected to the divine in some way. He is considered the “admin” of the server and as I’ve touched upon before [here] Tommy’s comments in the finale basically confirm that Dream’s op is canon in some capacity. Additionally, god looks like him, which he explains by saying Dream is the first person he saw but still, is that also why he’s considered the admin. And on top of that, Church Prime is canonical but the founding is based in some part in Dream enlightening people as a Jesus or god. So I suppose there could be some evidence to support Dream being an angel, or at least likely some sort of divine being, but he’d be quite the flawed one that’s for sure. Technically, I suppose he was possessed by a dreamon so… he isn’t a “demon” but was perhaps a demon in the form of possession or something. But anyways, all that to say, the duality and dynamics of demon and angel I think is interesting mythology and even literature lense to look at things, however, I’d almost argue with how messy morally the dsmp is it is hardly a good application. In a world where again, morality is undefined and not according to our standards, and biblical elements like heaven don’t explicitly exist, I’d say it doesn’t work well. There are many narratives where it can be applied and looked at but I don’t think this is one, in my opinion at least. It just doesn’t work well. And that’s coming from someone who has drawn the parallels between Jesus and c!Dream and does believe in angels in real life…

random Golden Duo AU- Space Adventurers

(this idea JUST popped into my head and is rapidly expanding as we speak)

(beginning is HEAVILY inspired by WSFIB, Alongside some worldbuilding as well as The Earth Guy and legit every other sci-fi space adventure webtoon I've read(the good kinds) so take this as an AU of that AU!)

CW- Angst and forced mutation

So Tommy and Purpled are twins, orphans and struggling to live.

The two get abducted by Dreamons, Putin cell-cages similar to WSFIB ones, they get experimented on and Purpled is considered much more healthy than Tommy (cause mofo eats mud and trash what you expect) and is used as a highly dangerous experiment and the twins are seperated, Tommy meets a tall alien who is DEADTHLY afraid of him for some unknown reason, angst, dread, time is a ticking bomb kinda feels until FINALLY the twins are reunited, but something is wrong

✨Purpled has become an alien hybrid✨

this sets Tommy OFF and he goes on an adrenaline-fueled rage and kills a bunch of dreamons and efectively escapes the ship w Purpled and his new Alien friend (Ranboo) and they crashland into a almost ihabitable planet w Techno on their tails to find Ranboo. After some sibling bonding, angst, dealing with trauma, surviving, they have finally meeting Techno, who is VERY concerned about the Deathworlder and unknown species that his student-friend-family-whatever has seemingly adopted.

After Techno is finally convinced that Ranboo can keep their new...companions...they travel forth, Techno at first wanted to just return the two to their respective planets, maybe get them a communicator so that Ranboo can still talk to them. But Tommy refuses to leave Techno alone, bedrock bros ensues, He gets the idea to get a universal translator for them both and so he decides he might end up keeping these uplifted folks.

Other Plot points

Techno eventually finds out what happened to Purpled; Awkward big brother Techno to the rescue!

They find a Stranded Tubbo in an abandoned ship and, plop, added him to inventory.

Purpled finds it easier to pick up on and understand one of the languages Techno, Ranboo and Tubbo all share (common)

Purpled also finds it easier to teach the others what certain Human words mean

No. Thats the sound of Dream's (biological) mother humming him to sleep when he was little, before their village was raided and burned, reduced to nothing but cinders and ash. That's the song Dream would hum quietly to himself when he was curled up in his hiding place, after he just went to check on his village to see if anyone was left, only to find burnt bodies and fresh corpses (friends, neighbors, his parents, and his siblings) and his home in ruins.

That's the sound of Puffy taking the time to search and search for everything she possibly could about Dreamons, a dying species, just so she could find the right lullaby to sing to Dream on the nights he would have nightmares. That is the sound of Dream humming with her because there wasn't any reason for her to learn it, but she did anyways to make him feel better. That's Foolish learning to do the same when he's old enough. That's Dream clinging to his new family, hoping and praying to whatever God is listening to just let him have this. That is Dream wishing the same thing when he first meets George and Sapnap, his two best friends that seemingly came out of nowhere when he needed them, doing everything within his power to keep them as close to him as he possibly can.

That is the sound of Dream occasionally humming that same lullaby to himself in the prison, when he really needed reminders of home, of his Momma, after he just had Quackity come in for the second time this week to try and get the revival book out of him and he refused. That's the sound of Techno doing his best to help Dream relax for once after getting trapped in the prison with him, that's Techno humming with him while fixing up the bandages wrapped around Dream's abdomen chest and arms, making sure they weren't too tight so the wounds underneath them could heal properly. That is Punz doing the same after the prison break, helping Dream come down from panic and anxiety attacks when he couldn't sleep, especially during the weeks he couldn't find Jobi (a young Dreamom -from a village Dream didn't know was in the SMP- who somehow dug through the obsidian walls looking for food, and decided hanging around and bothering Dream was her new favorite thing to do, and Dream got attached to her unknowingly) anywhere and assumed the worst. Assuming that Quackity found her and was either gonna use her against him or was doing something terrible to her that he couldn't protect her from.

That is the sound of Dream humming that same lullaby to Jobi, because she knew it too and missed it just as much as he did and humming it with him after finally getting reunited. After he finally got her back after weeks of thinking there was a possibility that she was gone because they had gotten close and everyone (Sam, Tommy when he got locked in there, Quackity, Techno and Bad) noticed. But she wasn't, she isn't, she's here and she's alright and that's all that matters to him.

That, is what that is.

Tale of a Dreamon is my Dream SMP based webcomic about a world where Dreamons are viewed as heartless and dehumanized parasites.
