"What was it like?" "Like a dream, sir."
A painting for @terrorscififest, shown two different ways up as I couldn't decide which looked better. Medium: oil on canvas.

Tbh I get why some people think that I have "huge patience" memorizing every single character everywhere or picking on every detail in my fanart, but like.... Not only it comes natural and I actually need patience to NOT do this, but also I've always been this way...?
As a child, before going to bed I felt the need to place a "blanket" (a rug or a piece of paper) over every single one of my toys and plushies and wish each a good night. I did have two favorite plushies I prioritized, but I was too worried that other toys would feel "left out" and I wanted to include everyone, even if I had like 30+ of them xD So I grew up and now when I get into a piece of media, I feel the need to pay attention to EVERY character, no matter how minor or "forgettable"! As a child, I gave a little too much detail to my drawings and often added background because I felt bad about not being accurate enough, so I grew up and obssess over featuring every single detail on character design. As a child, I once condemned a girl for giving everyone in her coloring book blonde hair and blue eyes because "other colors exist on people" and... well, I grew up feeling fatigued if everyone draws the same thing, as well as appreciating variety of appearances!
And I don't mean childhood as teen years, I mean like, below 7 years old :') Like... I know I complain a lot about how there is a large chunk of my brain that just does NOT seem to develop no matter how much (negative) experience I receive, but with some things I am actually happy that I've always been the same? XD

Kaeya my beloved.
I never do full backgrounds but he deserved the extra effort, and I think it came out pretty good.

Pokemon team for Goldia from Pocket Mirror! Great horror game, definitely recommend. Had a hard time limiting her team to 6, but ended up picking for the following:
Ditto: representing Goldia’s dissociative identity disorder and her multiple “forms”
Pumpkaboo: like all the Jack O’ Lanterns scattered throughout the game
Sylveon: the bows? The color scheme? They were made for each other
Musharna: the lines between dream and reality have been blurred, perhaps she should take care not to inhale the gas
Drifloon: this child has basically been brought to her own hell
Applin: she loves apple strudel!

making my 'new years resolutions' of a sort for the blog based on the survey results and im squinting at 'references' like 'did i say character timelines or just references generally?' and while I do intend to finish the 20th century part of the timeline sometime this century, theres a part of me thats also like "tell me what i need to do to encourage people to draw blorbos from my brain"

i'm lowkey excited for the next 3D zelda game because i want to see where they go AFTER botw. will they keep some elements of the open world? will they include aspects of environmental storytelling? what will they do? i'm excited to see it
#legend of zelda#i don't think they'll go back to something fully linear like tp or sksw honestly#i was pleasantly surprised to see some design elements from botw return in eow#things like the lynel design and the map design. i kinda wasn't expecting it#although. botw was a sort of soft reboot to zelda too#i think going back to a linear game would be a step in the wrong direction#yes oot was revolutionary for its time but that was in 1998. oot was among the first 3D games where you had free range of motion#we've come SO much further than that. and a lot of the games people consider to be the best from the last decade or so#are the ones with the full open world. like botw#(which in itself inspired a lottttt of these games)#like here's my controversial opinion but the botw lore is some of my favourite in the franchise#not entirely for what it is but for how it's conveyed#you're supposed to see things in the overworld and make connections or interpret it yourself#so like. there's this village in between akkala and eldin that's been burnt down. and there's a red wizzrobe dancing around there too#there are lines of swords in the ground in fort hateno that i think are meant to represent graves#(there are a lot of graves/implied graves in botw)#zelda has all these little drawings and notes over her study. that's all her research and it's somehow mostly untouched#anyways! i'll shut up now aksjskdjskdj#i should play it again soon but i feel unsatisfied if i'm not at least a little freaked out playing a video game now akdjskdjdn#resident evil has RUINED ME. totk depths were helping but idk. botw isn't really all that scary#(guardians don't count once you know how to kill them. neither do lynels)#(yes i will fight gold lynels for fun)
