DATV SPOILERS
New fun facts about Bellara!
She has ADHD (or at least is heavily inspired by it.)
Her vallaslin is Dirthamen's, the god of knowledge (i guessed this one right in the first meta/theory post i ever made :])
Bellara believes there has to be a guide to romance someone. She's awkward and unsure about romance. She's had experience, but she's never been in one that feels as real as the one with Rook.

I come bearing dragon age trivia and headcannons for this spooky season!
So, the equivalent of Halloween in the realm of Thedas would probably be "All souls day", or "Funalis"
It was named Funalis originally, and dedicated to the old god, Dumat, God of silence. Yet, when Dumat fell victim to the blight and rose as the first archdemon, the vast majority turned a blind eye to any remainder of what it once was for the old god. Thus renaming it "All Soul's Day", to be celebrated as a day in somber remembrance of the dead.
In northern parts of Thedas, All Soul's Day is spent dressed as spirits for parades after dark. And the Chantry uses the day to honor the death of Andraste, with public fires that mark her own burning, and plays that depict her death.- Creepy.
Now for the headcannons.
Zevran- Zev is from Antiva, which is up north. I have full confidence that our favorite assassin dresses in full costume on All Soul's Day and tries to start drinking games with the rest of the party.
Alistair- He.. takes time to himself. He's quieter than usual, and you realize why when you find him at the edge of camp. He's having a drink by the river and practically cradling Duncan's blade. He's carved the names of the Wardens lost at Ostagar into a tree. He pours one out for his fallen friends and spends the rest of the day trying to crack jokes like usual - but you can tell he's just thinking about the battle again.
- Zevran takes extra care to try and cheer up Alistair. Perhaps begrudgingly; it works.
Oghren- takes any and all opportunities to get drunk. He's interested somewhat in learning about the Parades in Antiva and Orlais and such, but mostly just because "Whatever it is the elf is doing" looks fun. I do believe he'd take the time to sit and think about Branka.. She was his wife, and he did care for her all things considered.
Sten- the Qunari prayers for the dead. He's quiet, he's by himself. He doesn't speak a word to anyone, but if you get close enough when he doesn't realize you're there, you can hear him praying. He looks sad, beneath the stoic exterior. But there is solace in his practice all the same.
Leliana- She has her prayers for her mother and for Andraste, but she's also fairly lighthearted about things. She probably wears a mask for the occasion, and is more than happy to tell tales and sing songs about the holiday. She will take time on her own, however. To pray and pick her mother's flowers.. Andrastes Grace.
Wynne- Wynne prays. She's probably fairly quiet, all things considered. She wonders when she'll finally pass.. If the spirit will leave her on a day like this one. She isn't afraid, but she is.. contemplative. She likes to observe the practices of everyone else on the holiday, quietly from her own tent. Perhaps she judges quietly, but she also finds amusement from some of the antics from Zevran, and Oghren. She's even delighted to find that Alistair is able to cheer up a bit.
Morrigan- She isn't going to be bothered with odd practices from her odd party members. Morrigan finds the culture to be interesting, but aside from that, she sees no need for strange beliefs. She doesn't care for Leliana's tales or songs of Andraste, and she certainly isn't going to dress up. This being said, she does secretly enjoy watching and observing from her tent, off at the edge of camp. She probably goes off on her own for some sort of magical practice, or even changes shape to frolic in the woods with the spirits.
Shayle- Shayle doesn't know what to do with the holiday.. But they have a list of names. Names from the Cadash thaig, and bitter memories of being reunited with Caridin. They think they will pray for Caridin, and maybe even the family they do not remember.
The warden- My warden is Dalish.. I believe she covered her mirror with a black cloth and got up early that morning to hunt. She doesn't like using bows, but Tamlen always did. He insisted upon it, even. And with his absence, she still felt the pull to do so. Who was she to argue with a spirit? She felt a particular guilt this time, knowing what he had become. Knowing she might've been able to save him. But the show must go on, and the mask must remain. She doesn't let the others see her suffer. Instead, she pushes herself to partake in whatever her companions wish of her. The only one who seems to see past it is Sten, but he will not disrespect her by calling attention to it. What would the need be, anyways? And he has his own prayers to attend to.
- When given the opportunity, the warden dresses up as the archdemon.. Perhaps in poor taste.
Barkspawn- The best pupper has a costume. Barkspawn has been dressed up as a Griffon! He tried to eat the fake beak..

tell me your favorite DA fanfics and I will either freak out and dance around with you or furiously read them tomorrow.
if you have also read Looking Glass i will literally offer you any of my organs upon request.
HELLO! An opportunity to talk about my favorite DA fics will never be an opportunity that I pass up! (Also, I was reading your stories about The Heretic literally when I got the notification for this ask and said "oh my god" out loud)
Are you talking about Feynite's Looking Glass? Because I haven't, but I've read a ton of their other stuff and their story Kindred is the inspiration for my "canon" Lavellan (though I'm a disaster who can't make decisions and consider all seven of my full playthroughs equally canon x.x). I will absolutely check out Looking Glass!
Other favorites include:
Seven Habits of Highly Effective Dragon Slayers by coveredinfeels, a hilarious outsider PoV on some settled Adoribull nonsense
I Come To You With Nothing by CommonEvilMastermind, which is in my private collection "fics that made me feel real feelings" and is about post-breakup Solavellan posing as a married couple in an alienage for a mission
It's About Belonging by skogr, which is about Krem's escape from Tevinter and meeting Bull and has been absorbed into my personal canon
A Fire and a Conflagration by iodhadh, which is also Adoribull (and I'm just now noticing a trend in the stuff I have bookmarked...) writing poetry to each other first as a continuation of their snarky banter but inevitably becomes flirting
On the more E-rated side, there's the Breaking the Silence series by Felixbug, which is about Hawke and Anders navigating the whole Justice thing and ends in delightfully complicated polyamory
And my absolute all-time favorite, which has rewired my brain and how I play DA2 even in runs where I'm not pretending it's possible to romance Varric, Greatly Approved by damalur, which is only rated M but for narrative tension still had to go at the end of this list. It's a Hawke Does Skyhold with her and Varric being so in love and so stupid about it until they aren't! And everything is better! Featuring some very exasperated members of the Inquisition.
Honorable mention to Project Elvhen by FenxShiral, which isn't a fic but rather an attempt to turn Elvhen from a cypher into a real conlang, and thus sings to my little linguist heart.
And last but not least, who would I be if I didn't plug a couple of my own fics? Scars Beyond Counting is about my first Red Hawke and is getting a sequel as soon as I figure out how to write Cole; At His Touch is a character study of the Inquisitor from that world from Cassandra's PoV (which is interesting imo because he's a mage and one of my only faithful Inquisitors); and Look Upon the Light is about my least reliable Dalish Inquisitor getting his shit together.
Forthcoming (hopefully by the end of the year) are A Song in the Stillness, about my "canon" Lavellan making friends with someone little (as Sera would say) because I love outsider PoVs; Not Alone, about my most heavily headcanoned worldstate in which there are three Lavellans running around; and Strong Enough to Carry It, an origin expansion about my "canon" Warden Mahariel and why she is the way she is.
I hope (in vain) that this was a reasonable amount of text, and (more possibly) that it was what you were looking for! I love your writing and my poor beloved noodle associate (partner) is currently flopped across my lap in despair that I will leave them (unlikely) for you (married afaik) because you are the most interesting person in the world. We have been wheezing over your stories for the past week and a half. 💜

So I’ve made an OC spirit companion for Dragon Age Veilguard and shared them on Discord with some friends who seem to love them. So I’m putting them out here for the enjoyment of the masses, it’s mostly just companions chatting. This will probably be a little long so more under the cut.
Trivia is a knowledge spirit, they’re a fount of useless information in their own words. They’re a Modern Character in Thedas but it’s been so long that they’ve forgotten most of their personal stuff. They remember really random things that don’t really apply to Veilguard, ie. Alistair’s love of cheese and how to get the flower crown in DAI.
To gain Trivia as a companion you find the (Rook’s class weapon) of Great Knowledge, it’s been locked away for a while, and you have to use it in a fight which triggers after you pick it up, it auto equips. Trivia calls out tips during the fight and introduces themselves afterwards. They’re an epic weapon who’s energy type swaps to whatever the enemy is weak to (type advantage is trivia :3c)
Trivia’s quest would be a one off area full of simple puzzle traps and all the other chests are full of “valuable items” and apparel. You get to the ruin and there’s a “speak friend, and enter” type puzzle. Then a big room with the lasers and branching rooms with companion based puzzles you have to do to power the lasers, it’s all more tedious than hard.
Here is where I had the most fun writing some companion dialogue.
Sometime after Spite saying they wanted to eat a candle.
Trivia: “Did you know that there’s a way to make wax edible? (Insert explanation about those soda shaped candies that you had to bite to get the juice out of)”
Spite: “The candles can be edible!”
Another Trivia and Spite early interaction.
Trivia: “Did you know that nugs can be grown large enough for a Qunari to ride on?”
Spite: “Fascinating Lucanis! We must acquire one!”
Facts about Tranquility
Trivia: “Did you know that to become a Seeker you must be made Tranquil?”
Lucanis: “How does that even work?”
Trivia: “Well you’re put into solitary confinement for ages to meditate on one thing and then there’s a ritual where a spirit, usually Faith, touches you and you’re back to normal.”
Lucanis: “Mierda”
Spite: “ cackles Madness!”
Trivia: “If you think that’s wild you should ask me about broodmothers”
Davrin or Warden Rook: “Do Not”
Some facts about the body
Trivia: “Did you know that bodies consistently shed their skin? They get basically a new body about every 7 years.”
Taash or Rook: “Flesh is weird”
A question on blood magic
Trivia: “Did you know bodies are made of at least 70% water?”
Harding: “Does that mean blood mages specialize in water magic? Does that mean all ice mages can also do blood magic?”
Neve: (awkward silence) “Don’t look at me! I’ve no idea.”
A continuation on blood magic
Harding: “Hey Trivia, did you know that lyrium is the blood of the titans?”
Trivia: “No I did not! Thank you for telling me 😃”
Neve: “Maybe that makes blood magic earth focused?”
Trivia: “Possibly, I’d have to ask Knowledge. Granted I’d have to find them first, they flit through the different libraries so much they’re hard to track down.”
Annoying
Taash: “What’s the most annoying song you know?”
Trivia: starts singing Sera Was Never
Taash: “That one’s not that annoying.”
Trivia: “Maybe not but it’s the only one we have the copyright to.”
Taash: “What?”
Trivia: “What?”
Creation story (based off a fun fact from this TikTok, possible spoilers for Davrin’s recruitment)
Trivia, after meeting Antione: “Did you know that everyone looked like Antione in the beginning?”
Rook: “No, but how?”
Trivia: “The Makers hadn’t created any other face at the time.”
Bellara: “Wait wait wait. Makers? With an S?”
Trivia: “Yes, there were a great many working on this world. It’s sad that we lost most of them by the end of creation.”

Sometimes I think about how insane it was that they made the Hero of Fereldan the Warden-Commander.
Not questioning their combat prowess and military might -- but their specific knowledge on what it even means to BE a Grey Warden.
Because, if DA timelines are to be believed, HoF ended the Blight in a year. Which means, HoF had only been a Grey Warden for (at most)... a year. Which means. They made. Someone. With barely a year's worth of experience of even BEING a Grey Warden, the Warden-Commander. And most of that experience was alongside an equally inexperience junior warden! I mean, our Warden was SO badly uninformed about Grey Warden lore that Bioware had to literally spawn in random Riordan the Exposition NPC just to progress the plot (and then immediately kill him off because Bioware was determined to make our utter noob ass (affectionate) the Warden-Commander). HoF is so hilariously under-qualified it's like forcibly promoting the intern to middle management to train the new interns.
I just see Marzel absolutely panicking in his new, sudden (unwanted?) role as Warden-Commander. Poor guy is standing in front of Oghren, Anders and Mhairi with Joining Cup clutched in hand, sweating and mumbling though the Joining speech because my magic boi only heard it spoken THAT ONE TIME and now he has to recite the entire thing? In front of an audience?? Was he supposed to have been taking notes!? No one told him he was going to be quizzed on this a year later!!
Tumblr media
I'm gonna headcanon that this leads to absolute insanity at Vigil's Keep. One year of relevant work experience Marzel is left in charge. Unsupervised chaos.

LINK!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The original transcripts are currently in the discord. the links can be found in the documents :>
Feel free to download them! and i did my best but let me know if you notice any mistake that might have happened in the copying/pasting :^) It's not exactly a word-for-word transcript, I think some things are missing (but i think the question/answers themselves are all there? or at least most)
the documents contains some mild spoilers, especially the second one :) but it's indicated!
here are other archived DA things of mine and datv posts, if you're interested :3

So I just found out that apparently there’s something as National Voice Acting (VO) Day, which is today (at least in the US but let us European folks join in, ok)? 😂 And since I need to annoy remind people every once in a while that this blog is still all about DA and my obsession with voice acting, useless trivia and German VAs in particular, here’s an old (poorly edited) video I made two years ago on the entire German voice cast of DAI <3 (which was inspired by this one on the English cast btw 😁). Who are some of your favorite VAs (Bioware’s got plenty of amazing voices!)? <3
I still love this cast so much and I actually got to meet some of them personally over time, and I’m soooo friggin excited to see who they’re gonna cast for DA4 (for all the languages, that is)!
So.. Happy (Inter-)National VO Day I guess! 🎉

To any Dragon Age fans who also happen to be in LearnedLeague… my proposal to write a Dragon Age One-Day Special was approved 🎉
(And to anyone that doesn’t know what LL is, it’s an invite-only online trivia league where we do “One-Day Specials,” games focused on a single topic, in between normal seasons of competition… I have one invite available to give away if anyone is really seriously interested lol)
My game isn’t scheduled until April 26th 2025, so plenty of time to finish Veilguard and learn some new lore… super excited to dive deep into these games with some trivia questions <3

if you're talking about leliana being a lesbian (or that she was supposed to be) - both Zevran and Leliana were supposed to be strictly gay. The lead writer, Gaider, whos also gay, read in the book, that the CIA in the 60s often prefered to hire gay people over the straights, as they had no families usually (u know, it's the 60s, so nobody considered a partnership a family) and thus seemed more difficult to manipulate/it was more difficult to blackmail them. He found the idea very interesting which made him create the Crows (or rather, the early drafts) and the assassin himself. Unlike Leliana however, this idea was abolished quite early on, since Bioware didn't want to go too hard, and the playerbase was different back then (ah, the anders drama <3).
Leliana was pretty much the same, since it was kind of a "last minute" change - I personally assume it had to do with the whole Mass Effect drama, in Fox News, but I can't be sure.
if you're talking about her not keeping it in her pants - well, my girl has game. (unfunny) pun intended.
(also zev had gay sex on live TV in USA which I personally consider hilarious)
its funny how leliana is TECHNICALLY a bi option, but since they changed it at the later stages, everyone knows she's 100% lesbian. And the fandom ships her with almost every woman she talks to, because holy shit, girl, keep it in your pants (don't actually, do your thing)
