Alright I’ve been meaning to post these kids FOREVERRR and I’m just gonna do it now!!! Pls… have this little sunrise trio: Lux, Seraphine (Sera), and Cosmo! I love Lux a ton btw, and I always wanted to include her with any other Cream ship kids I made. I’ll put more rambles beneath the cut.

These kids aren’t tied to the cream comic btw, prolly goes without saying, but yeah. Their timeline follows this post-underverse storyline idea I have (the New Days tag, tho there isnt much there rn). Per ~the lore~, they are half elemental and half monster. The family is based out of a restored Xtale, in a house the king and queen gifted Cross and Dream for their wedding uwu

Lux (19, she/they)— The oldest daughter of Cross and Dream. She’s level-headed and relaxed, but still has a bit of cheekiness and mischief to her. A bit of a diplomat at heart, she currently has a small intern gig at the castle where she works as a liason for monsterkind, and doesn’t mind the thought of one day doing similar work in the multiverse for Xtale. She’s extremely studious and loves reading; even now she likes to spend the evening curled up to couch with a book, next to one of her dads. She’s got a serious knack for monster magic, and leans on it the most during sparring sessions. Her emotion abilities relate to feelings of calm and relaxation/rejuvination.

Seraphine (Sera) (16, she/her)— The spitfyre, the yapper, the forthright, Sera is athletic and very passionate. She has her dads’ strong senses of justice and fairness, as well as their stubbornness, and from a young age picked fights with bullies and authority alike. I’m not saying XUndyne has tossed a baby, but I’m also not saying XUndyne hasn’t tossed a baby. She never quite got a grasp on the diplomacy her older sister and Papa (Dream) have, but she does her best, and is a genuinely sunny and kind soul to be around. (It’s fine she’s 16 she’ll figure it out eventually). Her main mode of sparring is in swordplay, which she seriously began learning around 11. Her emotion abilities relate to feelings of justice.

Cosmo (10, he/him)— The youngest of the three, and the only son. Cosmo is very sweet and shy, and tends to be reserved in the kinds of activities he takes part in. He’s not the biggest fan of school, and really dislikes sparring, so Cross and Dream don’t force him too much. He looks up to his sisters and adores them, and it goes without saying that they spoil and baby him quite a bit. He likes spending his time in nature, and likes to keep a field journal with doodles and notes on his finds. All that said, he’s the most in tune with his elemetal powers, and already is a much stronger empath than Lux, a big reason for his overstimulation in social situations. His emotion abilities relate to inspiring hope in others.

Time travel swapped AU What the title says. Time travelling Law & Heart Pirates meet little Doffy & Cora. He adopts them takes them in in a heartbeat, though warming up to Doflamingo is a very very slow process. Snippets.

DR st A folder with a bunch of wips for the I've seen you fic. Doflamingo finds slave Rosinante in the Human Auctioning House on Sabaody. He takes care of him and basically decides to wage war on the whole slave market. Cora & Doffy & Donquixote Family, rated T for the topic it circles around, multi-chap + series.

DR - Ghibli - Sen to Chihiro Doffy & Cora x Spirited Away crossover. The brothers are tossed into the Spirit Realm and meet Yubaba sisters. Oneshot.

KSxDR - prologue Not a prologue anymore xd A wip document for the Through the End fic. Doffy & Cora x Blood Blockade Battlefront crossover, multi-chap.

A Battle of Will Corazón-centered, CoraFest wip, multi-chap. Corazón, for some reason, tries to quit smoking, this time for good. The Family has a lot of fun with this.

Pralnia Tsuru - spinoff (translation: Tsuru's Laundry Room - spinoff) Tsuru & Cora & Doffy fic, centered around and exploring Tsuru’s powers, how they can affect people and possibly change DQ brothers’ story. Two chapters, the first one focused on Tsuru and Corazón, the second one on Tsuru’s powers and Doflamingo.

i think i was going for an organic metal type of look to really sell that hes with eggman/evil

then we have some fun doodles to help me jot some fun ideas down, and also make them silly

For characters I think:

tails in terms of appearance would be basically boom tails but I think personality wise I have the idea that he’s still an smart pants but like… snarky about it with Amy if you get what I mean, and also he doesn’t really care about the things he makes, like if he made a sentient robot he’d be indifferent about it and if it got destroyed he would be like oopsie daisy I’ll probably have to make a new one

Then to Amy I think shed be more inline with fleetway amy, since she never met sonic here she never tried to be more girly to get his intention. Sometimes she gets exasperated with tails being annoying and is sometimes concerned about the robot thing, because she still cares about all forms of life but knows he’s a good person at heart and sticks with him

For knuckles, I’m still thinking of what to do with him, whether to keep him the same or make some major changes but at the moment he’s pretty much normal knuckles

For sonic I think he’d be a sore loser and have a short fuse, he is still supposed to be a kid after all… he was raised by eggman what do you expect but still the cocky never gives up kind of guy as well which correlates with how he is previously stated to be. I think when he first met tails and friends they probably underestimated him but they quickly got the upper hand and now he just doesn’t like them, especially tails since he always says he’s ‘copying ivo’ on the fact that he makes machines as well. Then eggman, a big change to him would be that he cares about his robots, he considers them family, and he actually has a caring bone in his body which is why he took sonic in and raised him, doesn’t pummel orbot and cubot etc etc, which is supposed to be in contrast to tails with his nonplus care about what happens to robots and eggman doesn’t like that. He doesn’t care what happens to tails and all the other mobians, the only organic I think he cares about is sonic because of their history. But despite all that he’s still an evil guy bent on ruling the world, but he’s not heartless (that’s debatable for tails and friends because they don’t. Think he actually cares about sonic and just keeps him around to make tails and Amy hesitate when attacking because they would be hurting a fellow mobian)

WIP Wednesday

I haven't done one of those in a while! This is from the next chapter of you're a walking disaster and yet-- which is finished and should be up tomorrow:

Patroclus is sitting on his bed, History textbook in his lap and his back against the wall, Laika curled up beside him, when his door opens and Achilles walks in. He looks just as tired and disgruntled as Patroclus feels; he climbs up on the bed and nudges Patroclus and Laika aside to flop face down between them with a groan. 

“I hate this,” he mumbles, voice muffled through the pillows. Laika gives his ear a lick. 

Patroclus turns the music down a little, sets his book aside. “Did they always argue like this?” he asks quietly. “Before…”

Achilles’ back rises when he takes a deep breath. “I guess. Kind of. For a time. It was… different, though. There were times when it was so quiet. Dead quiet in the house. Before she left… they wouldn’t even speak to each other.”

“Is it better when they argue, then?” 

Achilles lets out a sharp huff of a laugh. It sounds weary more than anything. “I don’t know if ‘better’ is the word I’d use.” He scratches Laika behind the ears, staring longingly at the wall. “God, I just wish they’d stop and listen to each other for a minute.” 

Patroclus sighs. He wiggles down on the bed to lie next to Achilles. Achilles shifts to face him, his eyes so trusting and sad and lovely that they tug at Patroclus’ heart. 

“Do you think there’s something I could do?” Achilles asks. “Speak to them, maybe, or—”

“No,” Patroclus says. Then he amends it to a much softer, “It isn’t up to you, Achilles. What your parents do, what they say to each other. And it isn’t your fault if they argue. It’s up to them to fix things between them.” 

“I know,” Achilles says morosely. He blows at a golden curl that’s hanging over his nose, only for it to land messily across his brow. Patroclus reaches out, without thinking, to tuck it behind his ear. Achilles smiles, and something inside Patroclus grows warm and fuzzy at the sight. 

“It sounds rather quiet now,” Patroclus remarks, taking back his hand. “Do you think it’s time for dinner?”

“Fuck, I hope so. I’m starving.” 

They stay in Patroclus’ room for a while longer, listening to music and taking turns playing tug-of-war with Laika—most of her toys, as well as her dog bed and her food and water bowls, once strewn all over the house, are in Patroclus’ room now, once Thetis declared that she doesn’t want the dog anywhere near the kitchen or the living room or wherever else she or her family might be— before they finally decide it’s safe enough for them to go downstairs.

From the wip list tag game: I gotta know, what is "The New Magicians" series about?

YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW EXCITED I AM TO TALK ABOUT THIS

Okay okay so. Context: When I was in 5th grade, I had a really distinct way of doing warm-up drawings, where I would scribble all over the page and then find figures in the lines and color them. During this, I somehow wound up with 4 characters that kept appearing in these warm-ups.

So I started drawing them more and more, and eventually these random doodles spawned a story in my head. Also, I was dedicated to the idea for making books targeted for my age group that were also not as "easy" to read (I was a very pretentious child, if you can't tell). But I wanted them older because I was sick of protags that were ten years old. SO I MADE THEM 14 YEARS OLD.

Anyways, this series has evolved into a story that is near and dear to my heart. The three MCs are still 14 years old (one just turned 15), but the story follows them as they start high school and adjust to that reality as well as being constantly summoned to the world on the other side of the curtain where magic is the norm.

(I'll go more in depth below the cut, if this sounds at all interesting. Also there are a lot of extreme spoilers down there just because yes. It's a fantasy story and them discovering magic isn't really a twist at this point haha)

The main characters are Cori Whimsinberg (she/her, 14 y/o), Esmee Platt (she/her, 15 y/o), and Trevelle Wickerson (she/her, 14 y/o). I have not drawn them in FOREVER but here's a really old ref I made:

The story basically kicks off when Cori finds (and puts on) a cursed ring. This triggers her magic early, and she grows fairy wings (I swear this has proper lore to explain it), which in turn also triggers an early manifestation of Trevelle's magic. Esmee, feeling left out (as she has since the beginning because Cori and Trev have known each other since they were toddlers while they just met Esmee) has a bit of a meltdown and winds up getting accidentally kidnapped by an evil enchantress.

AND THEY ALL END UP SEPARATED IN THE MAGICAL WORLD! And so our side characters come in.

Cori meets a shapeshifter named Pachir (she/he/it, 14 y/o), Trevelle meets a sprite named Cythis (he/him, 15 y/o), and Esmee meets a Merrow creature named Karales (he/him, 168 y/o). They also get help from another shapeshifter named Knem (he/him, 18 y/o). (Pachir is the 4th character that kept appearing in my warm-up doodles.)

And then of course things get chaotic. But, as the hero's journey dictates, they all get back home safely until the start of the next book in the story.

One of the reasons this story is still so near to my heart is that these were technically my first OCs. My first written stories were about them. Everything started with them.

Also, the story has a lot of rep that I wasn't seeing at all in the stories I read back when I created these characters. Esmee's dad and brother are Deaf, so she knows ASL. Cori lives with her single mom after her dad passed, and the story does talk about this grief processing that she has been going through. Trevelle is a "tomboy" character and she is faced with a lot of challenges when high school starts and she is stuck on that gender divide. Cythis's parents are divorced, and he has to deal with that stigma in his culture.

When I revisited the story and was rewriting things around the time I was figuring out my identity, it occurred to me how much ace coding I had put into this story, as well as neurodivergent coding. This story helped me understand a lot about myself when I realized that there was only 1 (very forced) romantic subplot. I've kept that subplot because it explores other things I want to explore.

Currently Reading

You know I answered a question very similar to this not long since. And the book pile on my bedside table hasn't changed much 🙈. But fanfic wise, after some chats about ships last week (one with your good self @tickldpnk8). I've been revisiting his soggyness Dream on A03, but reading ships with him I haven't delved into yet. And I have found it utterly fascinating how his overall character (besides being a hot mess) is presented. And how his dynamic with his partner changes from ship to ship. In Dreamling, generally Dream is usually presented one flick away from shattering, while Hob is on standby, with duck tape and super glue , shit together and the man's got this! In Corintheus, which I've been having a riot with, Dream is usually presented far more in control and eldritch, while the Corinthian does his homicidal, sex fiend version of pulling at his pigtails for reassurance and love. With Dream x Calliope, they're protryaed on a much more even playing field emotionally, they both know each other, and yet are also rediscovering each other. So there's an interesting mix of hesitance and the complete assurance of knowing someone as well as you would know your spouse. It's a beautiful ship. I'm going to try some Dream x Lucienne next. But I'm really loving seeing this full picture of Dream you get from seeing him from every angle shipping wise. Highly recommended!

Favourite Colour

Red. One of the few areas in my life where I have an out and out favourite in anything. 😅 But red. I dress in it, I deck my wall in it. Pretty much any gift I'm ever given is it....It's a surefire path to me loving it.

The Weary Kind by Ryan Bingham. It's the theme to the movie Crazy Heart. If you ever have a few spare minutes... Give it a listen. It's a stunning song that never fails to stir the emotions.

Last Movie

The house that dripped blood. It's a 70s horror/comedy and my god it was so truly bad it was epic. Once scene featured satanic monks going from singing something diabolical in Latin to singing Daisy, Daisy... The other had Vincent Price telling someone to piss off. 😆 My absolute favorite was the local pub rendition of five gold rings but about murder victims. 🤣😂

Oh, well this is a tricky one to answer. I don't really class myself an official fanfic writer, or fan artist... Or fandom analyst. I'm just an overgrown, excitable toddler of a fan. Who blerbs and doodles with abandon 😅. But, I guess things that could be classed as WIPs 🤔. My young Destiny AU. I want to explore how the relationship between Destiny, Death and Dream differed at such an early age, maybe throw in the Archangels for the funsies. I'm sat doodling a little Daniel pic... My quest to cover him in dandelions (and the Corinthian 😏) continues! So that. And I really need to revisit my Time!hob Night! Dream AU stuff. I just always seem to get distracted by something else. I'd like to revisit Desunity as I feel I've been ignoring them as of late. Probably some more Destiny stuff is to come as he's taken up residence as my current muse. I still have no idea how that happened. 😆. And I really really want to hyper focus in on Death at some point. I'm all for the campaign to give that Endless a girlfriend!

Housekeeping Updates

- New avatar - @zachbrightside and I updated our FOP sonas. Tossed the headcanon'd honorary pixie hat on mine! :) Shout-out to that one kid in "School of Crock" who wore this hat with no explanation. And squared my gal's wings! Experimented with pink and purple hair options, but I like the brown too much to change.

- Fixed all broken masterpost links - Checked 3 or 4 times, so let me know if you find something wrong.

- Added things to the masterpost that weren't there (Ex: Art section)

- Combed through every post and changed the bullet point system so they're easier to read, following format update from several years ago that condensed the spacing between bulleted items.

-> As part of this, I've used indents and dashes in place of bullets in many posts. I've also added periods on otherwise blank lines to force blank space, as the blank space is another thing we lost during that format update.

-> This is so posts will look better on the dashboard. The dots may seem odd when viewed directly on the blog, but it definitely makes it easier to not lose my place while editing long posts. Also, they should be more readable now than they would be if they're reblogged to others' dashboards without this change.

- I combed through the short bios and long profiles and divided paragraphs more. There were many bulky paragraphs that have now been divided in a way that should make posts - especially these big profiles - easier to read.

-> Cleaned the "Appearances" sections of the long profiles. They used to list each 'fic that character is in, but now they have a labeled AO3 link to works written by me that include that character. Sleek, clean, and automatically updates!

- Shout-out to me having Dale Dimmadome already down as one of H.P. and Sanderson's past godkids 5+ years ago. I knew that was my headcanon, but I did not remember that was on his profile and I'm glad it was, haha... oh no. I don't know what my plan is for that in light of New Wish, but I'll figure it out.

- Changed posts that called my canon Riddleverse Classic to say Cloudlands AU, since that's the new name for my series. Left the name Riddleverse for posts that encompass multiple AUs.

-> Updated my Icebreaker post with this and other new info

- Deleted any posts tagged as "Delete later"

- I have a lot of long profiles and other posts saved to my drafts from years ago. Once Tumblr shifted to the new format (including with the queue), it became so distressing and ever-changing that I struggled a lot to find my footing.

Ex: They took away line dividers, which I thought was frustrating since I used those on my long posts and found them helpful. I was holding out hope they'd return. - Some posts (like my wing refs and the giant 20k-word class overviews) kept getting flagged if I edited them, and I was worried I'd lose my stuff or have the account deleted - Back then, the queue would only tell me which day of the week something was posting, not which month or day. It was just overwhelming to create a schedule or keep track of my stuff, so I took a break from Tumblr in general.

These days, I'm much more comfortable with the editor and my queue is now more specific about deadlines. I look forward to posting here again!

I won't be on a schedule, and the big character profiles do take a lot out of me, but my plan back in the day was to release one a month. Might be able to get to there! If not, maybe the short bios.

Future of this FOP Sideblog

- More worldbuilding posts! I let this blog sit a long time because I felt like I'd said all my worldbuilding and the only thing to do now was profiles and bios (which I was reluctant to prioritize when I felt "behind" in my 'fics).

However, I found some things I'd never moved to this blog, such as my notes on aging. I'd like to post that and others I found.

- No longer hesitant about sharing stuff for "weird" characters or OCs. I had a post about celebrity kids (Poof's age and younger) that I never posted because I didn't think anyone would care about my headcanons for Simon Sparklefield (who only appears in one obscure episode I don't count as fully canon anyway) or Billy Crystal Ball (also obscure) but... Hey, that's why you're here, isn't it? So let's talk celebrities!

In other words, I'd like to bring this blog back as the unapologetic place to share my FOP things. We have references to canon characters and talk of OCs (like Hadley, Emery, Whistle, Soren, China, Anti-Saffron, Kalysta, Iris, Idona... List goes on.)

- This blog will have more polished fanart than the doodles from my main blog

- Polished 'fic cover images will be reblogged here. By this, I mean the posts I do on my main blog that outline what to expect from a 'fic. I won't reblog my general chapter announcements; I don't want to flood this blog with those.

- 130 Reasons Why I'm Fairy Trash's cover will be reblogged, but the posts for individual trains won't be. - Existing cover images will get new, polished posts for their 'fics before I reblog them here.

- I went through the blog and added the tag "Cloudlands AU" to many posts, apart from a few I'm still hesitant to edit (or where it didn't seem worth noting). Cloudlands AU refers to my lore for the 11 seasons of the main series (i.e. including the "Oh Yeah!" shorts), and this is what my sideblog was meant for.

- The reason for this new tag is to separate it from City Lights AU: my new AO3 series for works about New Wish. These works are not compliant with Cloudlands AU, which was designed years ago.

Ex: Peri and Irep will get a short bio on this blogged tagged as City Lights AU to explain what we're setting up for their characters over there, distinct from the existing short bio for Poof and Foop in Cloudlands AU (who are very well established in their arcs). In other words, I'm not rewriting Cloudlands AU canon to fit with A New Wish, but I still want to write works for New Wish. Expect bios and art for Hazel and Dev here someday (and others).

The next thing I post will be Hadley's full character profile (now with updates that are compliant with A New Wish).

After that, I'll reblog my Cloudlands AU and City Lights AU guides to this blog so they'll be under their tags and on the masterlist.

When that's all done, I'd like to knock out full character profiles for Dale, Dev, and Hazel when I can (in addition to finishing my drafts for Cosmo, Wanda, Poof, and Foop). Long, slow process, but it would be cool to have those things done by the end of 2024 or early 2025.

Feeling decent about my idea for Hazel's birthdate. I have nice options for Dev, but no commitment until Zach and I nail down where "Operation: Birthday Takeback" goes in our New Wish timeline. Enjoying the process so far! -> Dev's b-day is QUITE the toss-up between options like "National Day of Unplugging," "Plant a Lemon Tree Day," and the absolutely golden combo of "Pizza Party & Virtual Assistants Day." And perhaps others we've not investigated!

I think that's everything! Hopefully, this is the last "blog news" announcement we have for a while, and the blog can return to being a landing spot for fanart and story meta.

Has there been a point in a story where you did something just to be playfully mean to your readers?

What made you start writing?

I started writing prose when I was about 11 years old and I mostly owe it to my favorite singer, Corey Taylor.

How do you feel about fan art of your stories?

I have literally cried. Do it, tag me, send me any doodle, sketch, piece and it’ll be a most treasured image for me.

Do you spend much time researching for your stories?

Not really? If it’s out of my hands sure. But mostly my method is just search up the old noggin and hope for the best.

To truly comprehend where this incisive desire came from is quite hard to do so. Because there isn’t a moment in time Donatello can pin point it. If anything it sort of manifest one evening while talking to you (or so he likes to tell himself).

For the most part he just does it.

You see, you had been lamenting about an outfit you needed for a work event. There had been a beautiful knitted sweater you wanted, hand crafted and costly. New boots to go with it that also reached the triple digits and a heavy replenishing of many of your makeup products. A paycheck could’ve easily been dumped on it but naturally that was too irresponsible on your end.

So as you pouted and eliminated the items from the online cart, Donnie had simply taken it upon himself to buy the aforementioned products. Sure it had been a pretty penny but Donatello was anything if due diligent with the money he made.

To better put it, he had it, he could spend it, all would still be well. Groceries would still come in.

If he had to make a cliff note of what exactly made him stir a little more than the usual, it had to be your excited squeals.

When the package had arrived at your doorstep with an added note in which he had stated he got you a little something something you had video called him clutching the goodies. He felt a pleasant somersault in his stomach as you thanked him profusely and announced that he should remain on the call so you could model the outfit for him.

That had to be it, right?

It must’ve been as you undressed, tossing your clothes off camera and putting on an outfit he had gotten just for you.

Maybe both those things?

Either way, he had been hard the entire video call.

Conlanging for cheaters

quick tips for creating fantasy language(s) that look believable if you squint

Pick a few rules about what letter/sound combinations can and cannot exist (or are common/uncommon). For example, in English, "sp" or "st" can begin a word, but in Spanish they can't. The "ng" sound (or the voiced velar nasal if you want to get technical), can't appear at the beginning of a syllable in English, but it can in at least of third of languages around the world. English allows for consonant clusters (more than one consonant together without a vowel), but some languages, such as Hawaiian, don't. Picking a few distinctive rules that are different from English or the language you are writing in, and sticking to them, will yield a lot better results than just keysmashing.

Assign meaning to a few suffixes, prefixes, or roots. A simple and useful example of this is making up a particle that means -land or -city or -town, and tacking it onto your appropriate place names. You could also have a particle with a similar meaning to the "er/or one we have in English, such as in "baker," "singer," or "operator," and then incorporate it in your fantasy titles or professions. It's like an Easter egg for careful readers to figure out, and it will make your language/world feel more cohesive.

Focus on places and names. You usually don't need to write full sentences/paragraphs in your conlang. What you might want to do with it is name things. The flavor of your language will seep in from the background, with the added benefit of giving readers some hints on background lore. For example, you could have a conlang that corresponds to a certain group of people, and a character with a corresponding name could then be coded as being from that group without having to specify. A human-inhabited city with an elven-sounding name might imply that it was previously inhabited by elves.

You don't have to know what everything means. Unless you are Linguistics Georg R. R. Tolkien, you probably don't want to (and shouldn't!) actually make up a whole language. So stick some letters together (following your linguistic rules, of course) and save fretting over grammar and definitions for the important stuff.

(Bonus) This isn't technically conlanging, but it can be fun to make up an idiom or two for your fantasy culture (just in English or whatevs) and sprinkle that in a few times. The right made-up idiom can allude to much larger cultural elements without you having to actually explain it.

Congrats! You now have a conlang you can dust over your wip like an appropriate amount of glitter. Conlangs can be intimidating, just because there's so much you can do, but that doesn't mean you have to do it all. So yeah anyway here's what I would recommend; hope y'all have fun :D

What ideas came to you recently from daydreaming?

I’ve been having snippets of this religion and rock ‘n roll story idea that won’t leave me alone until I do something with it. I’ll just be chilling and then it floats into my mind. So far mainly just a lot of it is just faint imagery of how it would feel, which is normally how things first come to me. For today's prompt then I’m going to try and stream-of-conscious try to capture them for today’s post!

Hot and muggy summers where the air is heavy and tree limbs sag. A large building to host church service in that has a struggling AC unit, the faint sound of flapping of bulletins being used as fans. The cusp of the end of summer but not close enough to believe that there’s reprieve on the way, a time that is suspended without days of the week until it all starts over. Bug bites and scratched up calves from wandering through the tall grasses.

Long blonde hair that’s caught in flyaway knots because she won’t cut since that’s what her mom wants. Chipped, vibrant blue nail polish and old worn friendship bracelets. Dirty black Converse that have long gone gray on the edges, some sharpie doodles on the tips. Overgrown black curly hair that serves as both a way to expel nervous habits he has as well as defy the days gone past of kitchen scissors hacking away. Faded t-shirts and new muscles that still feel like he's growing into.

The sound of drums pounding through your heart. Bloodied fists and almost broken noses. A corruption that runs as deep as the water in the soil, churning and pushing throughout the town. Clinging to lost childhood. A hand grasping another and pulling someone free of a trapped life.

This story also now has a title and a moodboard, which pretty much means it’ll eventually become a thing. Right now I’m still planning on it being a fanfic but it keeps flickering in and out as an original piece as well. We’ll see. I haven’t done any planning outside of the some vague visuals so it’s pretty far from becoming truly anything at the moment, but I’m beginning to feel too invested now! One thing I’m still waffling between is if it’s more of a “Florida Gothic” feel or a “Mid-Western Gothic” feel. That’s my current predicament with it but otherwise we’ll see what this thing grows into!

This story is very much still in just the realm of daydreams and while I want to dive into it, I’m also willing to let it marinate for a while. I want it to become flushed out on its own while I work through other WIPs, but I will say I think some of the inspiration has come by letting myself imagine new projects. Seems like a healthy thing to keep up so I don’t feel like I’m in a stranglehold with my current work!

WIP Whenever + First Kiss meme

I’ve been having a Time trying to get anything finished the last couple weeks, but I have been chipping away at things. I added a new WIP to my pile of writing  projects! 🤣 But progress is hopefully being made. Writing-wise, I’m not sure what to share, so I thought maybe I would just drop a screenshot of a couple art projects

Mostly just doodling in my free time, trying to get my brain to work.

And for the first kiss, I’m rather happy with the first kiss from my current writing project You Did Not Know Me, so I’ll share a bit of that here as a teaser. And you can check it out on AO3 if you want to read some soulmate fenders in Tevinter. It’s also the thing I’m pushing hardest to update next. Hopefully soon. I’m getting close to the end of it. 😭

Fenris slipped off the stool, leaving his document case on the desk, to pick up Anders’s coat and hang it beside the door. He was standing right there when Anders closed the door and turned around.

 “Oh!” Anders started.

 Fenris shuffled a tiny step closer and reached up to Anders’s rough stubbled cheek. Anders leaned in, too touch-starved to do anything but embrace the gentle gesture.

 “May I?” Fenris whispered.

 “Y���what?” Anders mumbled, lost in those soft green eyes.

 Fenris’s thumb answered, brushing Anders’s lips in question, asking permission.

 “Oh,” Anders breathed, almost afraid to breathe. “Fenris—” He was afraid to say yes, to let Fenris do this so soon after the formal shift in their relationship, but everything in him wanted it. Needed. His soulmate.

 That was assent enough, or Fenris read it in his eyes.

 He pushed up onto his toes and kissed Anders. It was so warm, and so soft, taking nothing from him. Anders hardly knew what to do. His hands trembled as they clutched at the air around Fenris. It was only for a few seconds, but his heart seemed to have forgotten to beat, judging by the way it thumped back to life when Fenris dropped back down to the ground, his hand leaving a cold spot on Anders’s cheek.

 Fenris was shy again, tense and afraid as he looked up, watching Anders’s face for any hint of anger.

 “Fenris—” Oh, how Anders ached. “You didn’t have to—”

 “I wanted to,” Fenris said, regaining a little confidence when he saw that Anders wasn’t upset, and possibly just as afraid as he was. “Was that wrong of me?”

 “No!” Anders gasped, jerking like a puppet to stop himself from grabbing Fenris in his urgency to tell him that wanting something was right. “You startled me is all,” he finished, suddenly bashful.

 And then neither of them knew what else to say.

 “I think I had a bit more wine than I thought,” Anders finally said, blushing. “That was...lovely.”
