if reincarnation is real, i wonder how many people find themselves standing in front of art they created in another life. how many hear a piece of music and feel something unexplainable, because they wrote it long ago with hands they no longer remember. how many read words that feel too familiar and don’t realize they were the ones who wrote them, once, in another skin.

i wonder how many of us fall in love with the same soul in every life. maybe the faces change, the names, the voices, the timing. maybe one lifetime they’re someone you marry, and in another they’re a passing stranger who leaves you breathless for reasons you can’t explain. maybe they’re a different gender, born on the other side of the world, speaking a language your heart still understands. and still somehow you find them. maybe not always for long. maybe not always at the right time. but your soul remembers. it leans toward them like muscle memory, like longing, like i’ve missed you and i don’t know why. and maybe that’s what love really is, recognition across lifetimes. not something new, but something returning again and again.

and maybe it’s not just people we return to. maybe we are drawn to certain places because our feet have touched that ground before. maybe we’re born with certain fears because we remember how we once died. maybe we dream of oceans we’ve never seen, speak fragments of languages we were never taught, cry for reasons we can’t explain, because the soul holds on to what the mind cannot.
