Heyo! Today I want to talk about source separation with fictive alters!

Let's start off with fictives are NOT their sources, and for someone outside the system to treat them as such - it's weird.

However not every alter has a separation from their source, and that's okay so I want to talk about this more using personal anecdotes from the Pony Plaza System!

Let's take Mabel, Mabel is a fictive from Gravity Falls and whilst we believe she's aware that she is separate from the character, she prefers to live as if she is the character. And there's no problem with that, she's silly and joyful and very happy living with the rest of the folks in Happy Smiles Land (one of our subgroups)

But then on the other side of the spectrum, we have Shy and Rainbow - they are fictive alters of Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash from My Little Pony. They share similarities with their sources, sure BUT they are both boys and are completely different than them and don't view them as "this is me"

It's not always that cut and dry though, for example Finn is a fictive alter from Adventure Time. He doesn't think he is his source, but still doesn't know who he is entirely if he is not his source. Both Navi and Hina tend to get a lot derealization from existing seperate from their sources, Navi (Serial Experiments Lain) is gleefully delusional about not being real whilst Hina (Mafuyu Asahina from Project Sekai) often falls down an existential crisis every time she thinks about the reality of not being real.

So with those anecdotal examples, you can see that they all quite different from eachother despite being all fictive alters. The takeaway from this post is ALL fictive alters are different and have different ideas and preferences in terms of source separation - even when inside the same system. Assumptions with these disorder are never a good thing and you should always treat alters like the individuals they are.

Just finished season four of The Bear

The Bear Spoiler alert

I thought this was the finale (and it really might be) before I still read present on the Wikipedia page. The network is more than happy to renew the show if Christopher Storer wants to do one more season.

ngl sometimes I'm not sure how I feel about these shows and look up other people's thoughts on them which is usually a sign it wasn't as good and I'm trying to find "validation" or something for disliking it maybe. I'm just have a mixed feelings really, I don't hate this show.

Gonna try and put my thoughts here, ironically just like I hated the characters for doing so in that episode.

It's funny that despite the fact I pretty much binged through it, this season was actually very slow as hell with not much happening until you think more about how everybody's storylines wrapped up. A great majority of this show was just people talking to each other, but there's no substance. It's kinda like how it like to joke that Serial Experiments Lain would've ended much sooner if everybody just clearly communicated with each other. But no, this show has been starting to cook a nothing burger and somehow it feels like there was better communication in the banter between the Faks (who still remain my favourite characters besides Marcus) than there was with any of the characters. The Bear and Serial Experiments Lain, in a way, have a similar theme of loss in common. Although Chisa wasn't such a prominent character as Michael, I acknowledge that I haven't had to deal with such experiences like the characters did, so I can't entirely blame them for how they're probably still grieving and trying to make sense of it all which causes their (mis)communications.

I can feel Sydney slowly becoming Carmy at times. She's definitely the voice of reason in the show and has more common sense, but you can tell she's starting to experience these similar feelings of carrying the weight of the world (the world being the restaurant) Pretty fascinating to see, actually

Marcus!!! Dude I love Marcus, I have since the beginning of the show, but after everything he's gone through, seeing him thriving this season makes me so happy for him, you just want the best for this lovely guy!

Ever since the show started, I've been worried that they were gonna pursue a romantic route between Carmy and Sydney, some brief hints are shown at times that there might be a spark, but I'm kinda glad they're not doing that.

A similar thing is developing between Richie and Jessica, and I was so happy they brought her back for this season! Although unlike Carmy and Sydney, I do actually feel bad they didn't pursue any romantic route between them, although you can tell there are hints and signs that just aren't acted on, y'all saw it too during that scene

The mother's scenes are always such a hard watch. I promise you it has nothing to do with Jamie Lee Curtis, she's a great actress and if anything, it's probably her performance being so strong that makes me feel like that. But also, it's the way the character, and idk how else to word it, always feels and sounds like they're constipated. The shaking, whispering, the way they smoke that always looks so uncanny. Obviously the character is going through things I never experienced so I can't judge too much, it just feels so uncomfortable to watch.

Gary man lol what even is his character. I know he used to be a star baseball player snd then worked at The Beef, but I never understood his role in The Bear restaurant and idk if it's my lack of restaurant knowledge, or the way this show takes pages from Atlanta's book on terms of show, don't tell with the elephant in the room being the fact that we never actually see Paper Boi rapping even though that's a big part of the show, the same. way the restaurant is just an "extra" in the show's story about the restaurant as, despite the kitchen and meals, you barely see the full picture of a night at the restaurant, which is ultimately why Gary's part always confuses me with the who wine thing. Someone fill me in on his arc because I find him fascinating but I just don't understand him.

Between the time I finished the previous season and started the current one, I learned that Luca is portrayed by Will Poulter whom I remember from We're The Millers and dude I did NOT know he was British LMAO I haven't seen We're The Millers in ages but I could've sworn he had an American accent there, I need to rewatch. Also side note, maybe I've been on Tumblr for too long, but is there also a hint of romance between Luca and Marcus?

Sugar cracks me up ahahaha fuck I'm not even sure if I can pinpoint why her character is so funny, ever since she yelled "Fucking shit!" when a toilet exploded on her, all her scenes just became so funny for some reason, especially because oftentimes she's not necessarily being funny. That scene where Neil embarrassingly tells her he did something bad and she talks to him in this nurturing tone up until the realisation of what he did. There's so many scenes where's she like Sydney is also a voice of reason, but in a rather comical way. And also, every time I think about her saying "Fucking shit!", I think about the song Cold Pizza by M1dy as the lyrics literally are "fucking shit" being yelled.

This show is set in parallel universe. Obvious no shir Sherlock moment I know every show is not set in our universe although Dexter made me forget that because that show was just disturbingly realistic where a real life Dexter could actually be living among us, although that slight bit of luck that he has each time definitely comes to play and shows that it's also a parallel. This has also been confirmed by one of Dexter's writers. Anyways, in The Bear's case, it's the fact that all those characters just have a slightly otherworldly personality that adds to the surreal tone of the show. Sydney being the only "normal" one.

Why can't any of the characters raise their voice? Shit this might be ny autism speaking, but as much as I've grown to identify their emotions in question without them being at 100% in that emotion for me to notice (i.e. knowing someone is angry because they're yelling) but damn it reminds me of how Betty in Riverdale was always so calm, even when she's angry as, and idk if this was the case or it just felt like that in my memory whenever I watched the show, there were these recurring scenes of people making poor life decisions that would have bad consequences, with Betty telling them not to do such things, but her anger was always more in her words than her tone and no offense, I feel like that's why her "swiper don't swipe!" methods never once had an effect on the people she was trying to save. The current finale had me show it that Sydney kinda has it in her, but honestly every time I see her angry, I strangely feel like she's holding back, it feels like there's more going on and that she needs a good scream, explosion! I don't want the actress to risk damaging her vocals chords of course, but she would definitely benefit of what I believe the youth calls a crash out.

Nothing makes this show more greater than the Fak family, the Fakulty if you will. Every time I see their scenes I would lowkey want a spin-off show with them while also knowing that would be overkill for the characters. Samwu with Sammy Fak, I'd love to see him in another episode, but I feel like him just appearing once was perfect!

I feel like Tina doesn't get enough appreciation tbh, they need to show her some more love at times, I find it nice to see how she's also growing, learning, and figuring it out.

The ending man... I'm sorry Mr Storer, but if this is in fact the ending of the show, I'll be a little disappointed because it feels like the show would've became a bit too "pretentious" where an open for interpretation type of ending just feels cheap, I'd rather have a disappointing ending with them flat out closing down the restaurant or doing some 180 than this. When you look at each character's final scene before the finale events, you can feel their storylines wrapping up, but the state of the restaurant is still so vague. The existentialist in me is kinda curious about Carmy's path in finding out who he is outside of his cooking.

I love Ebra too! The storyline of the window is interesting and the coach joining in is so interesting, because I feel like that guy is hiding something from us for now, skeletons in the closet, I can feel it! Also what the fuck is that delivery robot no one ever fully acknowledges bruh straight out of Atlanta.

Carmy still feels like Lip, I've been saying it before, but this show feels like it's a sequel to Shameless, especially as it's set in Chicago! It would almost fit that Carmy became Lip for a bit (except for the cooking skills. There's so much still to learn about Carmy, he's figuring it out himself too, but I'd like to know what he was doing before he started cooking, or who he was. It sometimes feels like there's holes in his backstory.

APPEARANCE: Σ੧(❛□❛✿) l'm pretty tall l'm 5'9 right now and l'm on the very skinny side / very slender. I'm half Slavic/Eastern European (Polish) and half West Asian (Iraqi). I was Born and raised in the United States aka making me an American. I have dyed black hair. My hair is pretty short (but a little long only going down my neck a few inches) but I get a lot of compliments for it. When I get out of bed from sleeping my hair is always looking like a mess (psst I also have bangs too. I’ve been told I look both masculine and feminine). I’ve also been told that I look a lot like those hot webtoon characters or look like those handsome men from an anime. I have piercings (one in (?) my nose, two on the bottom of my lips, and a couple more on both of my ears). I want a tattoo so bad, If I ever get one it would be on the side of my belly and it would be a spider or butterfly tattoo. I have a dimple on my chin and I have hazel/brown almond eyes. I always look tired or unapproachable sometimes, to add on that I don’t really smile a ton either and I usually force my smile when I have to be nice to someone (if they say thank you or something, I would just give a small smile and nod), I’ve had a lot of people confessing to me but some said they only liked me because of my appearance (I love my appearance, I take pride in it but I get hurt when no one likes my personality).

AESTHETIC/CLOTHING STYLE: Ok so this is definitely what makes me unique to people other than my personality, my fashion extends to gyaruo (hime gal, himekaji, agejo, rokku, manba, banba, kogal, tsuyome, and kigurumi), goth (trad goth, romantic goth, mall goth, cyber goth, and victorian goth), scenemo/emo (ofc), & Y2K/Mcbling, shoujo, jirai kei, mori kei, vkei, ouji and lolita, suits (+ MORE). I only wear all these outfits in a more masculine way on so many days, but I sometimes wear some feminine as well (usually going for gyaru, scenemo, lolita, jiari kei, cutecore, etc, especially hime gyaru omfg). I usually wear these fashion outfits whenever I’m in school, when i'm out somewhere, during my job, or just to look cool. One day I would be wearing like hime gyaru (usually in a masc way) and then emo/alternative the next day. Whenever I'm not in my crazy outfits I'm usually dressed in my "IDGAF" outfits by that I mean are like pj pants and a black shirt, usually I dress alternative (affliction) whenever I'm not dressed up, I wear a lot of jeans, sweatshirts, baggy clothes, etc. I wear wigs when I’m dressing up for feminine (and I make sure the wigs look realistic enough). I also wear a lot of accessories, usually for any outfits I’m wearing I would wear a lot of rings, necklace’s, glasses, sometimes chokers and belts. But if it’s for more feminine clothing (like gyaru(fem version), lolita, Y2K/Mcbling, jirai kei + etc) I would wear more head accessories like bows, hairclips, earrings, sometimes small crowns or tiaras. My fashion shows what kind of person I am and all of these styles just prove what kind of person I am, I’m like a little bit of everything!

HAZBIN HOTEL INFORMATION: I strongly believe that I would be in heaven because for me personally, I wouldn’t have done anything bad that’ll land me in hell. Though I do feel like I would be someone who would be able to travel to heaven and hell anytime without consequences. I would probably be a normal citizen in heaven, but a powerful figure down in hell if you catch the vibe. As someone who would be in hell, I would definitely not look like human, and I would look more unsettling… I would have red skin, a grey torso and green legs with an odd smily face, I would be in charge torturing certain people in hell, making it worse for them and taunting them whenever I get the chance, I would be considered “non existent” down there and to never be messed with. I would also have a super static-y voice, in heaven I would have the choice to keep that form, but I would probably be in my human form when I’m back in heaven.

Anyways I feel like luci would be a perfect match for you for multiple reasons. Love languages for you both match together, he loves physical attention, love giving gifts and loves spending time with you. (Headcannon: he totally makes you a duck that looks like you.) It's great that you have a human form by the way, you could go to all the places you wanna see on earth with him. Though I feel like he would have to hide his demon form (I feel like he has enough magic to make a human form though). He just can't go with you to heaven for obvious reasons. I don't think Lucifer would mind that you torture people but he probably wouldn't join you in doing it. He has no reason to hurt anyone unless they hurt charlie or you. Ah. Lord, NGE. The vagueness of its worldbuilding, the psychological aspects, the occult and religious simbology, and the GODDAMN MUSIC. If you like classical, epic and otherwordly music, I beg you to check out NGE's score even if you're not interested in the anime itself because Shiro Sagisu is a gift from the gods and one of the best composers of our time. The series is a masterpiece. People despise the movies but IMO they do exactly what a movie should do: entertain. Anno embraced the "I'll be cringe, but I'll be free" and went all out on them, as he should have. Also, there's Kaworu Nagisa. Look at him!

Steins;Gate

PLEASE. PLEASE DO AND DON'T DO THIS TO YOURSELF AT THE SAME TIME. I WAS NOT READY. This anime will take your heart, embrace it, warm it up, GRIP IT IN ITS HANDS, CHEW IT AND SPIT IT OUT. Admittedly I played the VN because I wanted to experience all endings and OH MY GOD. It's terrifying and emotionally damaging. I started playing the sequel (Steins;Gate 0) and I had to STOP because it's so gut-wrenching in all the good ways that I need to be in the right spot for it.

Bleach

talk about recent experiences. I live under a rock when it comes to popular anime most times, and I never had the occasion to watch Bleach until recently (still haven't technically finished it because I'm waiting for TYBW to finish releasing to watch it). I... don't know what it is about Bleach that I like so much, but it got me in a similar way to KHR, as in I think about it often against my will and I'm even considering creating an OC for it. I think it's the characters, because the story is pretty straightforward... yeah, yeah it's the fictional men again. Kubo makes handsome men who fight with swords and transformation and everyone has their own powerups and...hhhngh. Look at this batch of cookies.

I'm not a science brain, totally the opposite. Math doesn't math, geometry is evil and chemistry is wizardry. BUT, I love things that TRY to teach me those things in a funny and accessible way. I still won't understand them, but it was fun trying! And Dr. Stone has that, it's the moment I realize I like it when things are explained to me in that way, especially through media. Plus, fun characters, emotional moments, and cool plot.

Katekyo Hitman Reborn

Fortunately or unfortunately depending on your opinion on the show, KHR was the first ever japanese piece of media (excluding videogames) I've ever consumed. Being a lonely and socially awkward human being, it soon became my personality. It was these fuckers who made me get into manga altogether, I started buying the volumes (but only up to Varia Arc because 1. I didn't have an allowance, everything was done with Christmas/Easter/birthday money and 2. I was so obsessed with the Varia that my goldfish brain lost interest mid Future Arc.) and from there I discovered the pleasure of physical copies. The show has never aired in Italy, so nobody knew what the fuck I was talking about. It was, as many others were for me, a very lonely experience. But it was also the first time I felt... unique? Like, "this is my special little treasure and nobody can take it from me" kinda thing. I was emotionally invested in this show and every small piece of merch I could find like my Varia character songs CD became some of my most prized possessions (UNTIL I STARTED GIFTING AWAY MY SET OF VONGOLA RINGS BECAUSE I WANTED TO BRIBE PEOPLE INTO LIKING THE SHOW) (YEAH THAT WAS. STUPID. BECAUSE IT OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T WORK. AND ONLY MADE ME FEEL MORE LONELY AND RINGLESS) Then, the falling off. I started playing an MMO that also shaped part of my personality and as you often do with things that remind you of lonelier times, I sold my volumes and stopped thinking of KHR... until recently, when I joined this fandom and the spark came back because fuck it I'll be cringe but I'll be free. I got my fair share of flack for hyperfixating on an old anime at 24 years old, but it's one of the best experiences I've ever had. So yeah. KHR was ultimately good for me.

I'm also interested in different ways to listen to music. I'm working on building a CD and cassette tape collection and I've been playing around with the iPod classic recently.

I'm interested in fashion and personal style, especially alternative fashion. I don't have a lot of money so I don't really look fashionable, but I've been wanting to get more into it. I love seeing what other people wear, especially if they have a unique style. I'm a big believer in what someone wears can tell you a lot about them because for a lot of people fashion is a big way they express themselves, and I've always been interested in that.

I'm trans ftm and pansexual so I'm definitely down to meet other people in the LGBT community. I would say that I'm open to most identities, although I might not completely understand them, but that's also why I'm trying to meet new people, to be exposed to different things. Just don't be like a MAP or something.

I also have an interest in leftist politics, so if you're someone who likes to talk about leftist politics and discuss those kinds of ideas feel free to talk about it just be civil and open-minded. I'd say I'm open to any good faith discussion just don't be hateful, MAGA, neo-Nazi, terf (or rather, the term I like more, fart 🤭, feminist appropriating radical transphobe) or anything like that.

I like tech, specifically unique tech and for that reason I'm usually interested in older stuff. Some of my favorite tech is probably from the 90s, 2000s and early 2010s because that's around the time when the more colorful and unique tech was popular.

On that note I'm also into 2000s and 2010's revival stuff. I like some of the aesthetics from that era, specifically the more alternative side. It's also a bit nostalgic because a lot of it is stuff I remember from my childhood.

I like horror movies, although I haven't watched any in a while, so if you have any good recommendation feel free to yap about them. I got pretty into the Purge series around Halloween last year and I used to be into Saw when I was younger, and I'm hoping to find more horror movies or TV series to watch.

On the topic of TV, some shows I've liked are Blood-C, Serial Experiments Lain, Krapopolis, Stranger Things, Abandoned and Dark Tourism. There's probably more, but I don't watch TV that much so I'm probably forgetting them.

I also play a lot of video games. Some of my favorites are Skyrim, Red Dead Redemption 2, Sea of Theives, Terraria, Stardew Valley, Sims 4, Hogwarts Legacy, Minecraft, Fortnite and No Man's Sky. I've also been wanting to play more of the Fallout and Elder Scrolls series as well as Days Gone. I used to be a huge Elder Scrolls fan back when I was, like, 12, and then when I was 14 I got really into Fortnite, so those are always fun. (And when I was 12 I'm talking like, chronic Skyrim player. I was getting Tetris syndrome from how much Skyrim I was playing. Fun times.)

Serial Experiments Lain // review

After weeks of stalling and busy days, I am finally here to say I have finished watching Serial Experiments Lain! This was an experience I hope to never forget: it was unsettling, revealing, and definitely prophetic. I am going to share my journey with this anime, and that includes rambling a bit about my personal life. I hope you understand.

This anime followed me through many different points of my mind, in a way. When I first started watching it, I was the same Fujo that would spend days on end in front of a screen. However, due to burnout and overstimulation, I decided to gradually quit the internet. I know, I know… it sounds a bit much, doesn't it? Well, I am still using it to this day and I may never fully quit, but I don't want it to be my first go-to anymore. I don't know about the future of this blog, but I hope to continue writing here, even if I can't promise consistency.

Anyway, as I watched Lain get more into the Wired and its wonders and mysteries, I started seeing myself in her. I may be a noob when it comes to actual programming and tech itself, but I spent most of my late childhood and teenagehood in front of my computer, shutting myself from the outside world. I was socially awkward and didn't like the night life, so I just embraced the artificial warmth the internet provided me.

The anime really explores the way the digital world and the internet "connect" people, leaving them lonelier in the process. It's kinda sad how Lain, in the first episode, made me realize that a world before the internet did exist—one where you didn't have to jump to the computer as soon as you got back home, hoping to talk to people you've never met in real life (and probably never will.)

As she ventures into the Wired, you see her behavior slowly morph. From her usually shy and reserved composure comes out a more agressive and playful persona, almost like an avatar. Remember when the digital world was bound to your computer—and thus, to your home? Back then, we were still exploring the internet as a new, developing area and because of that, a lot of people still had their little veil of secrecy. I feel like with the creation of smartphones capable of handling social media, we've distorted the invisible wall between the digital realm and reality—and Lain portrays that perfectly.

I'm all over the place with this review, but Serial Experiments Lain really was made with love and care. I was meant to play (or at least watch a gameplay of) the PS1 game as well but I'm going to be honest: I wasn't too interested. Look, I am sure the game provides new lore that adds to everything, but the full gameplay video I found was 11 HOURS TOTAL. No way in hell I'm watching all that without my own personal hype. So sorry, @diowatcher, hope you forgive me, tee-hee!

Overall, I gave this an 8/10 for the surreal and existencial journey. Go watch it, but set your expectations accordingly. It is a slow-paced show but it's totally worth it 💜
