It’s fair – again my blog is heavily fandom based

But with tnmn fandom it’s a bit… different

Maybe I’m biased and it’s just my negative experience with tiktok comments

So I was expecting the backlash, but not that much

I think maybe tsp fandom spoiled me a bit (in a good way), bc I got a feeling that everyone in tsp was positive of any lgbt+ headcanons and just generally more supportive

(don’t get me wrong, there ARE problems in tsp community too, taking narrators design controversy into account as one of the examples)

Obviously every fandom always has it’s own issues, show me at least one fandom that didn’t have some sort of meaningless controversy or some sort of problematic people in it

But it leaves a bad taste in your mouth sometimes

And for me personally it only added to not so pleasant experience

The thing I also noticed, when I interacted with other fandoms

Ppl wrote positive stuff first and foremost, not really asking for anything

Here it’s just “hey more. I want more. Do more. Do this character. Do this. Do more.”

The only reason I kept doing more, because likes, reblogs, views – these comics get a ton of attention

- Okay first things first I would like to say, how? How did you get the well known dictator to decide to pursue a relationship with you? Knowing him you probably must have caught his eye in a way which caused him to go up to you. To have someone like him being interested in you is something. Admittingly you were a little suspicious of him having alternative motives regardless you decided to go along with it. But surprisingly he was actually pretty cool to be around. Like sure he did some shit to people but let’s ignore that but like I said earlier you managed to catch his attention which means that he genuinely wanted to know you better unlike anyone else.

- Before and even after you and him decided to be in a relationship with each other he’s very smug out of the two of you. He’s just naturally cocky and a little shit but that’s why we love him. He likes to tease you by giving you off handed comments every time you two decide to hang out. But besides that he does genuinely enjoy being around you he just expresses it in his way which can be different from other people but it is what it is and as long as you don’t mind it then he doesn’t see the harm in it.

- You thought you were surprised when he wanted to be friends with you. Well you were even more surprised when you found out he liked you. Like sure you saw that he treated you differently to other people but you didn’t pay that much attention to it. Even the dictator himself was surprised at his sudden love for you. At first he didn’t want to admit it, not because he was afraid of how you would react, he's just stubborn. It takes him a while to be open with his feelings because he feels like he needs to constantly be seen as tough instead of a person who instantly gets soft because of someone. Like sure every time he hangs out with you his heart beats faster, a smile forms on his face when you say something simple even chuckling to himself when you say something funny, the way he just stares at you paying attention to every detail of your face, sometimes getting caught by his brother Luigi smiling to himself because he suddenly decided to think of you. But even then he’s too stubborn to admit it, despite concrete evidence of his love for you.

- But even with his stubbornness he does reach a breaking point where he has to tell you that he likes you or else god knows what he might do if he doesn’t. So he decided to plan a totally not mini date for you. Telling his brother to make sure no one interrupts the two of you. He surprisingly put a lot of effort into it. You never knew he could be such a romantic when putting an effort into it. It took some time but eventually he did tell you how he felt about you, in his own way to which you accepted them.

- He kind of has a soft spot for you in a way although he doesn’t directly, like I said he can be quite stubborn he prefers to show his love for you in private. He doesn’t often do it in public, the most he’ll do is hold your hand, having you close to him. The only time I can imagine him actually being willing to be lovey open is if he has to. Mostly if he thinks someone isn’t taking yours and his relationship seriously. The shit this man will do just to show people that no you aren’t single and yes you are dating him is something.

- He’s surprisingly really flirty and loving towards you. He knows what gets you flustered and honestly he really likes seeing you become a stuttering mess. He does some many romantic gestures towards you from something simple as kissing your hand to many more things. The more time you spend around him the more romantic he becomes. He likes having you close to him, having his arms around you, his hands constantly on your body just keeping you there until he’s done, even if you or him need to do something.

- He can be extremely clingy depending on his mood. It’s kind of refreshing seeing him like this, after doing his usual shit sometimes all he likes to think about is just going back home seeing you and just cuddling with you, resting till the both of you fall asleep. At this point he doesn’t really care if he does come across as clingy. He waited for however long he did to see you again, it’s not his fault he’s not actually happy till he sees you.

- It kind of takes him a bit to get jealous, not too quickly but not that long but with the right way you can get him jealous. When he does he just gives the person the meanest death glare causing shivers being sent said person's back. Around you he gets a bit pouty and as mentioned earlier overly loving. He honestly doesn’t understand how someone else has the balls to flirt with you, especially around him. He finds those types of people clearly idiotic considering his reputation would anyone be stupid enough to do that.

- Obviously due to his role as a dictator you can often find yourself hanging out with him in his office. Also since you and him often like to hang out there you often found yourself talking to his brother Luigi as well. He’s pretty much the only person Mario trusts to be around you. I mean with him being his brother and his bodyguard he knows he won’t do anything with you. When he’s unable to make sure you're ok he asks his brother to check up on you and if anything is bothering you he tells his brother before getting rid of what was making you uncomfortable.

- Overall, despite his background he can actually be good to be around and a loving person.

Your sick little head, so brain damaged and lying in that hospital bed.

This art means a lot to me. It isn’t as rendered or polished as my other work, but I want it to look scrappy, messy, and still pretty. If you’d like to just read about the style and story of the art unrelated to myself, feel free to skip this section.

Last week I mentioned being in the hospital and the psych ward, and while I wont give extreme details, it was for an overdose. Recently after getting out I’ve been trying to act like nothing happened and it’s all going to go back to normal, but this is the 3rd time I’ve done it or been on the edge of it. Just last week I had to get rid of two of my cats just after I’d been discharged and that on top of the trauma of the whole situation I’ve just felt strangely empty. Overdoses don’t just come and go like that. The mental effects aside from whatever you took linger and hurt more than anything. “I’m doing better” really just means I’m not about to do it again, but those feelings are still stored somewhere deep inside me. For this specific piece I wanted to describe that feeling and wonder of “How would anyone feel if they found me? What will they do after?”

People don’t talk about Molly nearly as much as I think they should, but it’s understandable given that she has no set substance yet. For that reason I have made my own. The biggest thing I’ve mentioned before—in my Angel Dust headcanon post—is that I believe Molly is the one that found Anthony after he overdosed and called 911. The rest of his family was likely a bit worried, but I don’t think any of them cared as much as she did. Another headcanon of mine is that Anthony and Molly had matching rings with “AN” & “MO” engraved onto them. Molly sold her ring to pay for Anthonys funeral after his passing in the hospital and now wears Anthonys as replacement on her index finger which she eventually takes to heaven with her.

I don’t imagine she was able to visit him very often while he was in a coma but she still did when she could and would talk to him in hopes he could hear her a little bit before he left. It’d take a bit of a tangent but when sinners enter hell, in my mind entering hell takes as long as it did to die. So for Anthony it likely took him a week to a month to die during his coma from complications, and in turn, it took that same amount of time for him to full wake up in hell. Sinners to me are made and formed out of the ground in hell and wake up in a similar location to where they died. Angel Dust would’ve woken up alone in a hospital while his sister was now left alone and Anthony’s body likely already buried by then.

These are reasons why I included forget-me-nots and sweet peas as taped on decals. Their meanings being “Please don’t forget me” and “Goodbye, thank you for a wonderful time.” respectively. I also added the “M” wax seal over one of the sweet peas because I feel that it’s a sentiment that Molly held close to her heart and still does.

Molly’s body is torn from pink paper while Angel’s is blue paper. I intended for these to somewhat be seen as hands, like how the pink paper wraps over the forget-me-not when the blue paper lays beneath it to show Molly’s attempt to hold onto the memory of her brother while Angel is trying to remember his own life yet is unaware of what is happening to his sister now; unaware if she’s alive or not due to his poor keeping of time. Angel is also a scrap of paper glued above Molly’s hands to pretty genuinely symbolise they’re both in different dimensions now and can’t fully be apart of the same without the help of an external force. I also wanted to include more jumping spider elements so I’d like to think the string holding the tears is silk. Jumping spiders leave silk behind incase they fall so they can climb back up and when you put that in the form of a mentality I think Molly would fit into that very well.

I really hope we see more of Molly and I hope she had a good life and can see her brother again. Of course, she is a fictional character, but I can’t imagine the trauma she’s experienced in her life even without my personal headcanons. I love Molly a lot and just from how I personally interpret her she reminds me a lot of my mother.

introduction!

Hello all! This is the official introduction post to my Visual Novel/Dating sim!

This post will be progressively updated when I’m adding more characters/things, but currently I only have the demo figured out, some art, and one of the characters!

I am a beginner coder, so I will do my very best to try and code it accordingly…

I will try to update frequently with the progress I’m making!

some of you may know me as @olinblogin!!! I’ve written a popular lmk story on wattpad/ao3 called “Fate lies within”, as well as an ex-background artist for another dating sim (which I will not name for safety reasons)

My name is Olin, I use they/them pronouns, but occasionally as well bun/bunself!

Please be aware that I am a one-person team, so it’s gonna be difficult for me to pump out backgrounds, characters, etc… but I’m certainly going to do my best!

I do not currently plan on making any sexual content in this dating sim, as I find it pretty unnecessary.

There will absolutely be NO r@pe/SA in this story, it’s so common in the VN/Dating Sim community that it’s genuinely uncomfortable and glamorized, sexualized, and defended.

Burger Boy - achievable by going through town and choosing to go into the burger restaurant

Beyond the Surface - If you decide to go up to the bunker

Don’t go there - Going to the mansion

Whispers of Wisdom - Go to the forest, but immediately turn back

Beyond the Horizon - don’t go through any of the character routes, just stroll through the forest

Together for a day - going on a date/outing with the character of your choice

What’s over there? - Go to the well, but don’t look inside of it

Bad ending - you die

speaking of college boys, what do the college au aot babies study??

Okay, okay, I think I’ve talked about this in an ask before but I can’t find it 😭😭 but it’s okay, I love college aus, so I’ll talk about it again! Plus, now I’ve got more thoughts for more characters, so here we go

Levi — neuroscience and psychology of human behavior

He started out on track to do a bachelor of arts in psychology, but when they touched on the anatomy and biological parts of it during his first year lecture, he switched to a bachelor of science.

The focus is still psychology, but through a more clinical lens. Essentially, he gets the best of both worlds this way. He’s intuitive and analytical, so clinical and mental diagnosis is easy to dissect for him. He’s also canonically good at math, so the calculus and stats parts aren’t too bad, either.

This major also leaves him with a few options post-grad, which is a nice bonus for him. He’s likely going to medical school, but that’s not the only route open to him: law school, therapy, lab work, medicine and pharmacy, even teaching are all viable options without going to grad school.

Do not talk to him about Freud unless you wanna get punted off a building.

Be careful with him, because with a single glance he’s already got scarily accurate predictions about your parental and emotional attachment styles, your behavior in social settings, and the onset (or seemingly lack thereof) of your frontal lobe development.

He thinks he’s so smart making comments like, “I see those synaptic connections aren’t working so well for you today,” like mf come here let me lobotomize you and see how well your synaptic connects are working after that🙄

Eren — general health sciences

He’s interested in science and the discovery aspects of it, but picking a specific field of focus right now feels too final. He likes it this way, because his schedule and requirements are less restrictive, and he has more room to find out what really interests him.

He does best when he’s doing something he loves, so picking a major with a bunch of reqs that he couldn’t care less about would have sucked big time for him. It also would have affected his grades. There are still some classes he has to take that he’s not fond of (see: chemistry), but that’s to be expected. Science in general is cool to him and he hopes to make his own discovery some day, even if it’s microscopic.

He also plays a lot of sports, keeping his schedule flexible is important. The sports end up helping him excel academically, which is a nice bonus. Honestly, Eren uses his time at university to learn more about himself than anything, so having control and freedom to do what he likes the majority of the time was important to him. 

He uses his elective credits to take philosophy or history courses of his interest, or maybe even a course that you’re in just to spend time with you. He also uses you as a live model for his homework bye, congrats on being patient number one to him.

Armin — astronomy and physics

He’s still interested in marine biology, but unless he attended a school near a coast, or with a specialized integrated program for that, it’s unlikely he’d major in it during undergrad.

Space and ocean exploration aren’t all that different. Both are vast, largely unexplored domains that reel-in Armin’s interest for discovery. So, while studying astronomy, he still gets to study evolution and make his own predictions about what could be out there because there’s so much to know.

Physics comes with the territory of learning about planetary science, and he’s mathematically inclined, so it works out for him. Learning about the different physical properties of other planets and space masses is honestly pretty sick to him. Because math isn’t a struggle, he actually considered aeronautical engineering, but he didn’t want to be a part of the college to military pipeline; that is, he didn’t want any potential design of his to be weaponized. 

He still gets to study animal biology through his elective courses, and might even find a few focused on marine animals to satiate him. Plant and cell biology are also of interest to him, and are just further applications of his primary study anyway, so he’s got plenty of room to work with.

This boy is interning at NASA and still, with his whole chest out is like, “I don’t need to discover a new planet, you’re my whole world.” Armin, go check on the Mars rover or something please.

Mikasa — anthropology + minor in japanese language studies

Anthropology is virtually interdisciplinary in nature, and Mikasa is a pretty well rounded student, so she’s able to excel in a program like this. She gets to study history, science, cultural studies, and even a bit of art all at once.

She’s still debating between going to law school vs med school, so anthro this is a good in-betweener. She gets a taste of science through her anatomy and kin courses; and lots of practice with reading and dissecting texts through the historical and cultural lectures. So, when the time comes to decide, she’ll have some experience with both.

Don’t know whether it’s confirmed that she’s (part) Japanese or not, but either way I headcanon that she speaks/spoke some second language at home. She wanted to delve more into it, and courses were offered at the university so why not?

Cultural studies courses end up being her favorite. She likes learning about the history of people and their cultures, and it encourages her to learn more about her own family history and culture. It also propels her to apply for a study abroad opportunity, so she spends at least one semester doing an exchange program and absolutely loves it.

She would also encourage you to apply and go, too. You guys might not be in the same program, but if there’s an applicable program in the same country she’s going to, then she’d definitely want you to apply. Spending the semester away with you would be a dream come true.

Hange — bioengineering + minor in political philosophy and law

It’s almost self-sabotage to be in an engineering program and have a minor; the coursework for engineering alone is backbreaking, and bioengineering has the added weight of human intricacies, but of course Hange makes it possible. 

They’re nothing short of a genius, so of course they have time to work a completely unrelated minor into their schedule. It doesn’t surprise anyone that they go on to complete an MD-PhD after undergrad. Insane. 

Bioengineering is essentially the synthesis of chemical engineering and health sciences; Hange spends their time exploring biological sciences and applies the engineering aspects of their coursework to their understanding of (and interest in creating) medicine. Truly a one of a kind mind. 

They also have an interest in philosophy and justice, so when they found out they only needed a measly nine or ten courses to minor in, they went for it, of course. In honesty, they don’t find the studies all that opposing: both law making and medicine making both have some kind of philosophy or method to them in their eyes. 

Hange has... little to no free time pls. They don’t mind it, because they love their coursework, but this means you are essentially ducking into their labs or scrambling to find them in-between their classes during your time in undergrad. They appreciate every second spent with you tho, and will gladly rope you into long discussions about their work. 

Jean — biochemistry + minor in art sustainability

He was undeclared his first year, and took a little bit of everything: art, science, history, anthropology, english. Basically, anything that fit into his schedule. It was hard for him to pick one thing—he liked the science and lab applications of STEM courses, but not the math; and the obvious painting and creativity of art, but hated the pretentious air about art history.

What he wants to do is make a difference, which is how he ends up knowing that he wants to go to med school after, so he picks a science-heavy major, but uses his elective spaces to take art courses. When he mixes the two, he ends up on sustainability—and the complexities about it that are applicable to both science and art are what really reels him in.

Interdisciplinary studies end up being his forte. He can approach sustainability from a science perspective which impacts his art style and materials; and tuning into his creative side allows him to think about science not just from a purely clinical perspective, but from a human one, too—patients are people after all.

He believes that everything is connected somehow, even things as seemingly opposite as art and biochemistry. And he works towards finding the unique intersection where everything overlaps. His studies are pretty cool, and he’s very passionate about them, so ask him about it 😌

The art he makes is pretty sick, too, and often commentary about science; he’s proving they’re not so opposite. You also heavily influence his studies in both areas: caring about you so much inspires him to take the healthcare focus seriously, and your very nature is inspiration to his art. 

Sasha — nursing

She’s friendly and good at working with people, so nursing was an easy choice for her. She accredits most of her motivation to being around her younger family members, and learns that she finds a simple kind of joy in helping to take care of others.

She struggles a bit her first year when it’s mostly all grades and standardized testing, but when she starts getting clinical experience and working in the hospital on campus, things round out for her.

Patient care is her strongest point. A lot of people often forget that knowing everything isn’t everything; if you don’t know how to calm or even just talk to your patient, you’re not that great of a healthcare professional.

Pretty certain that she wants to work with kids in the future, but she’s open to public health and even being a travel nurse if she finds opportunity there!

Of course, she’s pretty doting when it comes to you and all her friends. She might want to go into pediatrics, but the basics of nursing and health care extend to everyone, so you’re guaranteed to be well taken care of with Sasha around. You might even have to switch roles and take care of her sometimes, because her coursework can get pretty out of hand.

Connie — computer engineering with a focus on game design

He might not look it, but Connie has a brain under that shaved head of his. Computer engineering is cool to him because he basically learns about how simple things he uses every day (ie: phone, computer, microwave) works.

Systems and coding are actually the easy part for him, especially when they get into the application of it and aren’t just stuck looking at examples. That’s how he gets into game design.

The part about math and electricity and magnetic fields… well let’s just say he needed to make friends with someone who likes math and hardware his first year to get through it. But the struggle was worth it, because by his junior year he’s found a professor willing to mentor/supervise him as he works on his game and other projects, so life is good.

His school work is definitely hard, which is why the lives by the mantra of “work hard, party harder.” It’s only fair. 

He makes you a little avatar so you can test out his games for him <33 best boyfriend things <33 He’d also… build a game about your relationship. Every level is a different date you guys went on, and he definitely includes something cheesy, like “There are unlimited lives because I love you forever babe <3”

Porco — kinesiology + maybe mechanical engineering

He’s pretty into athletics and working out, but didn’t wanna go down the sports psychology route; he wanted something that left him with a few more options, so he ended up in kinesiology.

He was surprisingly pretty good at biology in high school, so something stem-oriented works out in his favor, and it turns out he’s pretty damn good at anatomy, too. He’ll probably end up in physical therapy after graduation.

He’s also got a knack for cars, which is where the engineering comes in, but he doesn’t care so much for the math part of it (he doesn’t care for it at all actually, fuck that); he just wants the hands on experience of building/fixing things and working with his hands. So, if he can get a minor in it and not struggle through 4 years of math, then he’d do that. If not, he’d take a few workshop-like classes.

Her minor is a natural evolution from her primary coursework. Ancient Romans and Greeks set the foundation for a lot of modern day philosophy, so it comes up in her major classes, but she wanted to delve further into the philosophy, and not just look at it historically, so she takes more courses to fulfill the minor.

Can be found laying on a blanket in the quad on a hot day, with her books spread out all around her, highlighter in hand as she works through her reading. Bertholdt — computer science and coding

She doesn’t care too much for the more philosophical/reading heavy parts of psychology. Even experiments and research closer to the social end of the spectrum aren’t all that interesting to her; but the brain science behind it it.

Nobody should be good at cellular biology. Nobody should be able to ace cell bio and neuro and calc and work towards their thesis proposal in the same semester, but Annie proves it’s possible.

Ends up working in one of her professor’s labs by her junior year. She was offered three TA positions working with first year students, but she swiftly turned them down. Teaching isn’t her thing.

She doesn’t bring up her studies to you unprompted, but if you ask her about them she’ll explain it to you. I strongly encourage you to obtain a copy of Color Bleach, a publication which is tremendous for any number of reasons, including the fact that it contains the worst recruitment brochure you’ve ever seen, featuring art by many of our assorted regulars. You can also see these drawings on the Bleach wiki, under the entries for the individual squads. I don’t usually mind posting some manga panels to make a particular point, but I didn’t want to wholesale repost a big section of a book, and it’s really worth every penny, but I will give my  impressions of the art that appears there.

I would not have pegged Yamamoto as that dude in your fifth grade class who loves to draw big muscle-y guys, and yet what is it I see here?

Omaeda actually has some decent art skills?? My man even has what approaches some style. Probably part of his noble upbringing included art lessons, and I feel like he was into making his own comics at some point. 

Soi Fon’s art is very stylized, but I kinda dig it. Does she draw things that are not black cats? Doubtful, but there’s something to be said for doing one thing and doing it well. 

Unohana appears to be skilled in the classical sumi-e style, which tracks. 

Momo is a very talented artist, and “drawing” is listed as her special skill elsewhere in the databook. The picture she has here is, um, a very shoujo version of Aizen. I like to think that in addition to drawing at a level where she could conceivably draw her own manga if she had the time and inclination, but I think she’s probably talented in a more realistic style, as well, and probably also does some painting, etc. 

Oh Renji, my Renji. He doesn’t have a lot of skill, but he’s got both style and enthusiasm. I think he’s a decently talented doodler who specializes primarily in Zabimarus. Imagine being a Squad Sixer and getting some paper returned to you with a little Zabimaru at the top screaming “GREAT JOB!!!” I would simply die.

Komamura. Komamura, my beloved. Okay, I can’t help it, this thing just has to be seen to be believed:

(the top one is Komamura’s, the bottom is Iba’s). I mean. He’s a dog. What do you expect? 

Iba, on the other hand has some real style going there. It reminds me a little of, like, WWII nosecone art. I’ve made a lot of jokes about Iba’s mom being into painting (namely big, Georgia O’Keefe style flowers) so she probably made him take art classes as a kid. He’s probably super-embarrassed about how good he is, but I bet the hit rate on his Squad 11 Recruitment Brawl posters was a lot better than Yachiru’s. 

Hisagi is also a pretty good artist?? I’ve said before that I think Hisagi picks up a lot of hobbies and never gets terribly serious about any of them, but since drawing is sort of a foundational skill for a lot of other stuff and he’s had, like a hundred years to get good at it, he’s, well, pretty good. I bet he draws a lot of the ads for the Seireitei Bulletin himself, like the J. Peterman catalog.

The Squad 11 offering is allegedly by Yachiru, but it’s weirdly good. It looks like one of those continuous line drawings that are way harder than they look. 

That’s it for people we actually have evidence for. Here are a couple of additional headcanons:

Ikkaku is a real connoisseur of drawing dicks on things.

Yumichika draws beautifully. He uses this mostly to do fashion-design type stuff, but he also likes to do general designs. He especially likes to incorporate feathers and swirling colors.

Nemu is a highly skilled scientific illustrator. Mayuri is pretty good at drawing diagrams-- he’s very good at conveying ideas thru images, but he tends to hand things over to Nemu if he wants something for publishing and archival purposes. Akon is also a pretty decent hand at drawing. He’s one of those guys who can draw straight lines and perfect circles without tools. Akon also occasionally enjoys doing some creative art. Is “Tool album covers” a genre? Anyway, that’s what he does.

Toushiro likes building things out of ice, and he’s quite good at making detailed construction plans. He’s real into using rulers and French curves and crap like that. These plans are legitimately gorgeous, even though they are basically technical work. Every so often (usually for Momo’s sake), he’ll try to draw a person or a cute animal and it’s real bad and Momo and Rangiku both make fun of him for being a terrible drawer, because they know he isn’t. He puts up with it, as is his way.

Kyouraku likes to draw “sensual” art, which is nearly as bad as his terrible romance novel. Juushirou likes it though, it always makes him giggle.

As someone who really tries not to speak online without having anything relevant to a conversation or post, I am definitely guilty of quiet consumership. I really do enjoy the work that you and others put forth. But I do try to avoid interaction because I am scared of becoming the sort of entitled that comes from being strangers behind a screen. First, your feelings are totally understandable. Can't say I haven't been guilty myself either. And I get the feeling of entitlement that can come with interacting with a piece of media you enjoy (I remember the fan wars on Tumblr...).

I still think there is a large space between interacting with a project and entitlement of that project/author's attention. It all depends on how you communicate/act. Asking politely the author a question is miles away from demanding the next update. Sharing your love for their work is widely different from asking them to include your headcanon in their work. Interacting with their work in a way that considers the author's wishes (fan art, reviews, etc...) is much more effective then spamming the author for attention. There are a lot of degrees. As long as the line is not crossed, you're good!

And yeah, being polite and nice goes a long way!

Side note: I was just so happy to get (lovely) asks for TTTT yesterday, I still ended up answering questions I would usally just ignore.

On the topic of anons, I'm not going to touch on that specific one (and not answering them either, they're not adding anything to the conversation anymore). But that won't stop me from leaving the anons enabled (for now). It is both a blessing and a curse.

ok I can’t get it out of my head so uhh semi-headcanon time or more like adding this cheesy shit to my plot wishlist

I have mentioned every now and then in my headcanon posts, specifically ones related to Farus’ powers, that he can now ‘summon the Gomutai sword’. Gomutai sword is a weapon that appears in both Lennus 1 and 2, and essentially trumps all weapons, including the so-called ultimate weapons (Kormu’s Sword and Zaygos Killer respectively). It is basically the Secret Ultimate Weapon in both games, and I have always assumed that the weapon that shows up in the concept art here (don’t mind me as I casually scribble out Farus’ concept art face im sorry katou & gotou):

...is in fact Gomutai, and I have since referenced it as such in my own artwork, namely that little uhh... comic thing.

How I’ve spinned it though is that he can’t actually swing a sword very well post-game. It causes him immense pain to use them for any extended period of time, and especially if he’s been over-using his magic he won’t be able to even lift anything over 1lb. BUT... after having absorbed Granada’s spirit, he still has Gomutai, sealed away in a spiritual realm within him, and can summon it just the same as the creatures he has access to like Spela, Grava, Sofra, etc. He just only summons it when he reeeeally needs to.

...But like... that also should mean he can summon it for other people to use~

*Ingo LIES. As long as his ideals and principles are aligned with the lie he tells, Ingo is a terrifyingly good liar. He also likes to take the lead and making a change, and having some white lies to exaggerate the issues and problems does the trick most of the time.

*Ingo feels likes he can do anything he puts his mind to with Emmet by his side. Ingo takes the lead and makes the big decisions, or propose new ideas, because Emmet feels more at home with execution of ideas and making them real than he is with coming up with ideas.

*Ingo does not mind being lied to, if the intentions are good and the lie did not cause harm in the process. However, he WON’T take it kindly if the lie somehow involves Emmet and his well-being. Call it the big brother instinct, but Ingo will only take the truth for an answer to protect Emmet better.

History: Emmet and Ingo were born to a wealthy family, with high expectations and no space for self-expression. However, Ingo found his interests lying in books and stories, and when he can read a book in peace, he can tune out the outside world. This, however, makes him an escapist, and sometimes causes problem that could have been easily solved a bigger challenge than necessary.

His sibling rivalry (lighthearted and fun one) started long ago, as Ingo fed Emmet lies about how he would choose a grass-type pokemon, only to choose water to rain on Emmet’s parade–and Emmet’s Tepig. Which made Emmet get closer to their childhood friend Elesa, who had electric-type Pokemon (Emolgas), to challenge and win against Ingo.

When they were approaching their 20s, Emmet and Ingo decided to respectively live their truth and follow their ideals, which led to them to run away from home and reinvent themselves.

Ingo chose his name to signify the ongoing process of his life and ideals. Both a train pun (“ingoing”) and with a deeper meaning (From the Germanic *Ingwaz, possibly meaning “ancestor”.), he wanted to make his mark and tell the world that his legacy started NOW.

Till they landed a job together at the Battle Subway, Ingo took on tutoring the children on Pokemon Battles. He realized he liked the act of teaching and passing his knowledge to the next generations. He does not see himself as a family man with kids, but he is always on a look-out for his protégé.

VERSES

The Twin Trouble (Pre-PLA / Hisui Verse): The Subway Bosses conducts one of the biggest and toughest battle facility in Nimbasa City. Ingo pursues the ideal battles, and tries to create new ways and flairs to add. He wants to make sense of the world around them, thus, he enjoys when his philosophical questions are met with thoughtful responses from like-minded individuals.

Memories Faded (Hisui Verse- Takes Place During Ingo’s disappearance): Ingo does not remember how it happened, but he found himself in Hisui, a region whose name he had never heard… All he could remember was his own name. With the natural affinity he had for taming Pokemon, he was taken in by the Pearl Clan, allowing him the resources to make progress at making sense of his situation. He eventually became a warden, but he feels this is far from his true purpose. He is searching for the past he forgot, and tries to leave clues of his existence, though, he does not remember for whom.

He also grows his hair during this time, though he likes having short hair. His reflection with the long hair jogs his memory, for some reason.

Back Home (Post-PLA, Reunited with Emmet): After years, Ingo returns, but does so without his memories. He is met with someone in white, who is both overjoyed and yet troubled by his return. Ingo tries to make sense of this new, unfamiliar world after following a path of solitude for years, and… tries to understand if the forgotten bonds can be made anew. He fears disappointing his ‘brother’ and his ‘friends’, but, really, he cannot even remember who they were to him.

I’m trans. And that affects how I play and interact with XIV. 

I always hesitate to talk about my trans-ness, or trans characters, and I usually feel weird about it when I do, or that I’m somehow indulging in a way. I always feel like I never have anything important to say, or that I’m being a whiny entitled brat about it, or that no one cares. So I think I’ll try and talk a little about it.

I’ve seen some really good trans wols or adventurers, and it makes me really happy to witness, seeing more people Like Me out in the world. It’s not often that I feel lonely being trans, but it really does lift my heart to see others around and enjoying the world that love.

That being said, XIV fandom, and fandom as a whole, still isn’t that kind to trans “headcanons” about canon characters. Fandom’s been pretty okay about trans WoLs, though the erp’ers in the Quicksand have a serious problem with their transphobic ‘futa’ or ‘femboy’ shit. I don’t have Helisent’s gender in her search info, because I don’t want her to be called slurs in game while I’m just trying to do my damn roulettes. More often than not though, it’s the little comments here and there, or worse, the indifference. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen rare art or fic for trans xiv characters, only to have comments about how “that character is cis” or “is this a girl/boy version of x?” Those comments hurt, and those comments are transphobic. (Genderbends are their own post, but by and large they are transphobic as well.)

I say “headcanons” because there’s very little textual evidence that any particular character is cis. It’s just assumed to be that way, that cis is the default, and people thinking that a particular character is trans is a headcanon. Sometimes adding trans!(character) can be ... othering. I understand that sometimes people use those tags as a flagship, a way of saying “hey, it’s safe over here, come join us”, and I appreciate those. But sometimes it’s just exhausting to deal with the idea that cis is always the default, nevermind the fact that there’s sometimes mean comments about “but that character isn’t trans”. Damn it, we don’t really have evidence for one or the other a lot of the time, we only see that character’s gender presentation. 

And sure, you can say that that’s largely because XIV is built and developed around the idea that Eorzea operates on the gender binary -- it’s not exactly pushing the boundaries on gender, or made by openly trans or queer people. While I’m sure that there are trans or queer people that work on XIV, the goal of XIV isn’t to be “Eorzea trans adventure”. I get that. Most of the media I consume is made under the assumption that the fictional world is cis, and I’m not surprised that the characters therein are presumed to be cis. I understand the reasons why it is the way that it is. 

Fiction, and by and large fandom, is a transformative experience. The Devs for XIV have gone on record saying that they keep a lot of things ambiguous to let players have fun, especially in regards to shipping, or the timeline. That should, and does, extend to trans or cis headcanons about characters or how you interact with them. I’m not saying you have to go out and view particular characters as trans (though that would be nice), more ... be mindful of the fact that everyone experiences the game differently, and that cis isn’t the default setting, just a common one.

I guess I don’t really have a point here, just some thoughts that have been knocking around in my head, especially after seeing some unintentionally cruel and transphobic comments on friend’s art. So just... I dunno, be kind. Think critically about a trans “headcanon”, and what it might mean to someone, or how it might influence a character’s arc, or the way they interact with the world. Yeah, there’s some real bad fetishization out there with regards to trans headcanons, but that’s not really what I’m talking about here. Just keep an eye out, and look at things with an open mind.

Anyways, Ardbert’s trans. Lucia is too. So is Minfilia. Thancred is “I’m a man (I think???)”. Alphinaud is trans, and I have the most evidence for that one. 

Sadu’s canonically genderfluid -- her last three lives were male. Urianger is canonically gender non-conforming, and I’m willing to bet that he’s got some interesting ideas about gender. All the Ascians have the ability to mold and shape the flesh of their host, so in what world would they be cis? 

Just... think about it, I guess. I’m happy to talk about it if anyone’s curious.

I love your ideas, of Jen “resurrecting” and having an equivalent of “targaryen madness” and stuff, it's so good! So good that now I can't choose between it and my original idea! I'm gonna ramble a bit about my original idea here, hope you don't mind:

In my original idea I wanted to make Obelia fall into chaos— running with the headcanon that Obelia glomped territories resembling East Asia even, Obelia getting too big for its own good and then subsequently imploding (I supposed it'd be an equivalent of War of the Five Kings in asoiaf), and Jen's hand in marriage becomes like a McGuffin everyone wants because of her claim to the throne, just like how the Tyrells wanted to have Sansa for her claim, how the Lannisters wedded her to Tyrion for Winterfell... Everyone kinda forgot about Athy because... they were a wallflower and lowborn anyways, and they were probably sent away or something so that their claim couldn't contest with Jennette's. In my version I wanted Jennette to grow up in the Imperial Palace, possibly with Penelope alive? But I don't know what to do with Penelope if she's alive. Maybe Penelope could be dead but Rosalia could be there. Either way they both knew each other for just a little while before smol Athy got taken out of the picture for one reason or another. Maybe they could squire for some knight? Become a ward of some random family? Maybe Athy could re-enter the political sphere like a wrecking ball, whether of their own will or not, and everyone except for the ones backing them are like, “oh shit...”

Jen running from place to place disguising herself to escape from a forced political match paralleling Alayne Stone while Athy's rise to power paralleling Jon Snow becoming Lord Commander... though the resurrection thing doesn't fit with Athy so some fiddling will have to be done.

Maybe I could have both as two versions of the same AU— I really like both ideas. Also consider Athanasius, with wavy hair like Diana and probably having darker skin like a Siodonnan.

Though I need ideas on where the Alpheus family and Felix and Lily would come in in both versions of the AU!

Adding my own ideas to the mix: What if Athy has to flee after having been accused of the poisoning? In this AU the person poisoned could be Claude instead of Jennette and he actually dies or permanently falls into coma, leaving the country unprotected. The neighbouring countries, which have only been waiting for such a moment of weakness, are gearing up for war. It's a war on two fronts. There are fights outside and inside the country over control over Obelia. Outside there are the neighbouring countries that are demanding justice for the killed princesses that once entered Claude's harem and fell victims to his wrath after Diana died. And inside we have the colonies fighting for their independence. Obelia isn't as united as it used to be, even the Obelian nobles are killing each other over who gets to be the regent until Jen is of age. Her suitors drop dead like flies and Jennette is forced to run away to avoid doing further damage. (She als feels hella guilty for causing this mess.)

smol Athy and Jennette starting out rlly close. Childhood friends, sisters..they were basically inseparable until Rosalia entered the picture and removed Athy. Send her to the wall/tower to be trained as a magician. Magician's have to freeze their hearts so passion doesn't overcome logic. Let's say that magicians killing off their emotions and pledging their loyality to the crown makes it impossible for them to marry or have children. Ever. They aren't interested in love because they are basically emotionally crippled ands are bound by their vow to have only one person they are allowed to feel loyality to: their Emperor. Rosalia hopes that if Athy passes the final exam to become a magician she'll never have children that could contest Jen's claim.

Ijekiel could be a Tyrell or maybe a Lannister. Felix could be Ana's former guard who he betrayed. He earned himself the title kingslayer although it was Claude who dealed Ana the final hit. Siodonna would be Dorne. Lily probably belongs to a minor noble house that doesn't do much and likes to stay in the shadows and go unnoticed. They are too afraid to be caught in the crossfire of the intrigues of the court and prefer to remain neutral. So it would probably come as a big shock when she does start to show a political savy side and uses her family to back up Athy as a potential successor candidate when she gets presented at court.

Okay, it’s done, thank you for your patience! Sorry it took a day longer than anticipated, i started this and swiftly realized I was finding it difficult to differentiate between headcanon and characterization, and I don’t want to step on your toes in any way. 

So as to not railroad, I decided to mention a few odds and ends that tend to be consistent things I include in my portrayals of these characters? But please, use them for inspiration as you desire and discard what you don’t find helpful or interesting.

Elwing&Earendil: They are a set, do not separate, lol

When Earendil first came to Siren, mute and deeply traumatized, Elwing would often walk him away from the other noisy children when he was overwhelmed, and they’d silently play at the beach together.

Earendil feels the call of Men, ever the explorer, ever curious, he wants to know. Elwing fears everything Mannish and Maia about herself, having been brutally cut off from that part of that heritage when Dior died, and desperately wishes she could just be a /normal/ Elf. 

They got ‘married’ entirely on accident, the Elvish way, because they thought that maybe there was enough Mannish blood between them that they wouldn’t bond. They were wrong. Their guardians were furious. They were already engaged so this was all very funny within a few weeks, though

Though they’ve found new support networks in Valinor, they both very desperately miss the multitude of friends and family they left behind in Sirion, all together, all finding happiness amidst the end of the world. They know it’s selfish, but if you were to ask them when and where they would live, they would have picked that beset-upon refugee camp for the rest of time.

Earendil and Elwing exchanged so many letters with Elros and Elrond during the Second Age. 

Nerdanel: I tried to make these as not husband/son related as practical!

Only child in theory, but not in practice, because her parents had a tendency to have upwards of five young people in their house learning their respective crafts at any give time.

She was the one who used to get Feanor is so much trouble, all the time, as she was raised free-range and he was very sheltered. She was the reckless one, up until he learned the ropes of incautious adventure, that is and the it was off to the races.

Part of Elven craft is infusing one’s art with one’s fea, and Nerdanel is to this day the master of this, because she is able to not only use her spirit to make her work come alive, she’s able to make that spirit mimic and feel like her model.

While she has always hated court and the trappings therein, every time she has made an appearance to speak her mind in Tirion, it always created waves. 

Still very close with her children’s spouses in Valinor, especially Curufin’s wife.

Denethor: I forgot I added him, which is insane to me now, because I remember the exact thought process I had when it came to picking which was, "oh! maybe adding my guy who barely exists in the story but exists so much in my head would be fun."

When Lenwe decided to halt before the mountains, Denethor agreed with him wholeheartedly, it was only over the course of time that he started to wonder, what was it like beyond? What would happen if they kept going?

Overjoyed to find Elwe and Elmo once they made it to Beleriand, as they were really good friends, especially Elmo as they are more of an age

A serious person, and a leader by trade, but in a way that stems from protective instincts rather than natural charisma or drive. A herd the flock rather than lead the pack kind of person (which, incidentally, meant he never really got along with Finwe)

I tend to imagine that he had three children (Glaudir, Nimphel, and Sidhel), all of whom were equally disinclined to follow in his footsteps as King/Queen after his death. This, coupled with Denethor’s memory being so beloved to the Laiquendi, meant his people swore to never take another king again, and they stuck by this.

Once he was reborn in Valinor, he resolved himself towards a nice retirement in the woods, and then immediately, unconsciously, accidentally, ended up starting his won kingdom that eventually became large enough that the Valar acknowledged him as a ruler of equal status to Olwe, Arafinwe, and Ingwe.

He was the only one surprised by this development.

The Boys: I have approximately twelve thousand bazillion head canons for the Son of Feanor between the seven of them and several thousands words worth of headcanon filled fics, so I think I’ll just do one for each?

Maedhros: Control Freak™. As the situation in Beleriand gets worse, so do his methods of exercising his need for control.

Maglor: Not naturally good with kids, never wanted kids, and in Valinor would have told you he hated kids. It’s a testament to him and the effort he put in that Elrond and Elros loved him so.

Celegorm: Deeply practical person, who never leaves any part of a kill unused but- before the Bragollach- never fails to pray in hopes that if they just hold out long enough...

Caranthir: In any given situation, he has three modes: 1) Looks deranged, is actually completely reasonable, 2) Looks completely reasonable, actually completely deranged, and 3) Bitch.

Curufin: Everything he makes in the forge is beautiful, to the point where his detail work is technically better than both Feanor and Celebrimbor. But whatever that spark is Feanor and Celebrimbor have that they infuse in their works- that touch of the divine, the beyond- is just not with him, and this haunts him.

Amras: When it comes to the actual kinslaying, he is the most brutal, bar none.

Amrod: I prefer the Shibboleth fate for him, but even not in that version, I think he struggles the most with the actual morality of their actions, to the point where is destroys him long before his death at Sirion.

this isn't about Fate but in general. How do you do it. How to you deal with being one of the main content creators for an under appreciated character. You have to make all the content for them. Like how!!!! Is it intimidating? Or freeing cuz there isn't a big fan lore you need to deal with??? I just need to know cuz in arknights ( the fandom i am vibing in mostly rn ) i am supposed to be the biggest fan of Cutter and i have to make fan content for them and just..how

The long answer: I guess I was able to do it becuase I never really saw it as a daunting task to fulfill, I just drew stuff because I happened to like those characters. I have 650+ art files of one character alone (Medb), which is very generous becuase I'm not including a ton of stuff. Never actually noticed that I had done that much while I was working on them at the time tho lmao, so I’m actually surprised to know how much I have done

The main reason that I have personally been able to thrive is becuase I never rly dealt with any outside pressure from entitled fans, fandom elitists, or fervent haters, so I was always able to focus entirely on what I want on my own time.

Imo, the number one thing that kills an artists' vibes would be other people. The more people in your general vicinity, the more chances there are of rubbing elbows with the bad apples of any fandom. I added a list of pros and cons of being a content creator of an under appreciated character under the cut, but they're all pretty much in regards to not having to deal with people

My advice is to just find your groove and ride it out to wherever it leads you. Whether you choose to keep making content for the character or not, just do it because YOU want to make that choice. Don't do it becuase you feel like you HAVE to, otherwise, you'll burn yourself out over it

The few people that do like the same character as me might not interpret them the same way (but I can easily coexist or ignore them in the same vein since there's such a small number of this happening)

Pros:

No pressure to create on a timely schedule becuase not many people are waiting around for posts about the characters in question, so I can take my time and pick and choose when I wanna use my energy towards making stuff

Can make as much canon character analysis but also self-indulgent material as I want, and not really have to deal with weirdos arguing with me because their headcanon is different

Similarly, I don't have to meet any real expectations as an artist/person that much

I make my content with my audience of me in mind, so I don't have any pressure to keep up with trends if I don't feel like it

People tell me I helped them get an appreciation for unpopular character, which is a great honor

Smaller amount of followers, so I'm not scrutinized under the public eye where people either put me on a pedestal, only to chew me out if I make content they don't like, or the opposite where they just shit on everything I make

Seeing content of the character I like is even more like a treat becuase "!!!! I didn't have to draw/write this one!!!!"

Even if I switch interests, it doesn't really matter becuase they weren't a highly in demand character to begin with
