In honor of Domestic violence awareness month...I thank God for the courage and grace to walk away from a prior four year abusive relationship where there was extreme verbal and physical abuse. Day 15 : #RosaMoradaProject 💜 15th day of bringing awareness to Domestic Violence thru my social media platforms. Within this time I've been asked, "Why are you putting your business out there?" The obvious answer is, " I've been there so why not help someone who may need it." But really I'm putting my business out there because I want to raise awareness on a topic that's being held as a family secret. I want to raise awareness because Domestic Violence is overlooked. I want to raise awareness because it can happen to anyone. I want to raise awareness on a topic that's always dismissed in conversation because it's "too heavy." I want to raise awareness that it can happen to the same people who say "I wish a mothafucka would touch me" ( I was one of those). I want to raise awareness because in the Bay Area especially, our culture is too ok with it. I want to raise awareness because the ones suffering from it are too scared to get help. I want to raise awareness because we think Domestic Violence is only physical violence, when it's really emotional, mental, financial and physical. I want to raise awareness because the world needs to get educated. I want to raise awareness because there needs to be less victim blaming and more support. I want to raise awareness because abusers are still out on the streets continuing the cycle. I want to raise awareness because the justice system fails us. I want to raise awareness because a piece of fuckin' paper isn't enough. I want to raise awareness because abusers are not being held accountable. I want to raise awareness because victims need to be shown that there is help out there. I want to raise awareness because victims are often seen as stupid and weak when we are FAR from that. Our circumstances do not dictate who we are. Every 98 seconds an American is sexually assaulted yet the all seeing eye and blind eye always seems to overlook the #testHERmony of #RESILIENTWOMEN. In case you missed it: “#SHESSOMEONE!” We have no room for #rapeculture, beyond a shadow of a doubt, we #BELIEVEWOMEN. Case and point: #WHATIFGODWASAHER? Would you still mistreat HER? Would you still deny HER truth? When over a dozen women come forth with the same accusation, would that be enough to be considered beyond a reasonable doubt or would you still want more proof?
