I got these girls from Aliexpress a few years ago because I loved their little faces. They were cheap as chips, didn't have a name and I have no idea who they are - if they're original or a copy or some other doll. Does anyone know? Anyway, I wish I had bought the blonde one too, but they disappeared from Ali and I never found them again.
edited to add: according to @dollsahoy these are Duo Ding Mei Mei dolls. They're hard to find now, but will keep on looking to see if I can get the blonde one.

Ran out of steam so this doll is done for now.
She’s a Disney Fairies Fawn head on a curvy MTM.
Made her skirt using @dollsahoy ‘s pencil skirt pattern. Thank you!
Her hair is poly, I think? It’s very fine and frizzes easily. I attempted my first hair cut and it’s uh, not good. But honestly, I’ve seen dolls fresh out of the box with similarly bad cuts so it’s fine.

Got my package from Dollsahoy's latest sale today! (Thank you!)
It was actually agony choosing between this pastry one and the fairytale one. You can clearly see why I went with this one in the end though 🥲
I chopped on this girl's mega crooked hair for a while today. It's slightly better.
I am amused how bad my initial photos looked with indoor lighting. Here is before and after I used the iPhone's built in tools. I am hella guilty of blasting the tint slider to the pink, among other crimes.

I don't drink coffee for these reasons, in the order I encountered them:
I grew up in a household where nobody liked coffee so I picked up on that opinion before ever trying it
When I DID try coffee for the first time it was from a party box of the cheap stuff and it tasted like wood
The few times I have consumed an entire cup of coffee have consistently left me with anxiety for the rest of the day
I am highly wary of the fact that people who don't get their caffeine in the morning are grumpy, because that sounds like withdrawal symptoms and I certainly don't want to be addicted to anything
People who drink coffee: why did you start?
I don't drink coffee and I've never wanted to, but that's obviously ~not normal~, so I'm curious why most people do start drinking it.

It's almost as if Mattel has purposely designed G3 to self destruct.
So, so, sooooo many of the materials are unstable.
Between the polypropylene hair, the pleather, the clear and translucent accessories (and the ticking time bomb that is Frankie's prosthetic ankle (as pointed out to me by @dollsahoy) - designing the cogs like that, at the ankle - a major tension point (my G3 Frankie started developing stress marks almost immediately after getting them) was an incredibly bad idea) the dolls, like many other Mattel products, just are not made to last.
We have seen first hand how detrimental Mattel's decisions were to G1 and it's a shame that ten years on a whole host of other, different material problems are still present in the line and it seems as if Mattel is doubling down on them.

How it started...
...How it went...
...How it's going
I gotta say, you guys...I'm kind of blown away by what a gorgeous face this doll has. Same old RH original face sculpt, but something about the way they screened it, and the blushing...this is the most beautiful Jade has ever been. Personally I don't mind the shimmer, but I'm a 90s girl--there was a time when body glitter was part of my daily armour. I get it ;p
After seeing her in person I'm far more open to giving the other dolls in this reboot wave a chance. Yes the slime thing is nasty and yes the reduced articulation is frustrating and yes that disgusting hair tinsel is an absolute sensory and aesthetic NIGHTMARE--all my other doll related plans for yesterday were preempted while I sat and ripped it out of her head--but even despite all that, I love this doll. I'm so glad I got her, and so happy to have another green girl in my collection! I love green almost as much as I love purple, and it's a source of endless frustration for me that there aren't more dolls with any variety of green hair other than mint/pastel or yellow-leaning neon. This Jade's green--which is a tad deeper than my Fantastic Fashion Jade's hair--reminds me of trees just budding out in early spring ^_^ I really hope by the time that season rolls around again next year I'll be healthy enough to take her on a little nature hike for some photography.
Post-tinsel Jade is wearing one of the wonderful dresses @dollsahoy made for my girls :D Not how I planned to debut it, but as I mentioned earlier, yesterday did not go to plan. Once I finish up the crochet piece I'm working on this morning I'll try to get back on track with my other posts.

So I haven't assembled mini plants from scrap and junk YET, I've just got the urge to do that due to these MGA miniverse succulents I got with my microphone. ^^;; They were very fun to assemble and awakened a desire to have many, many more tiny success. OwO So I'm gonna dig through my junk boxes soon and see what usable components I have... :3c
That's not to say I haven't been making stuff outta scraps and junk already--I started assembling this vanity sometime last week and it's nearly finished!
The mirror was assembled by @dollsahoy , who included it in a misc doll hobby box to me several years ago! I just added a coat of gaudy gold foil glitter paint and several coats of various semi-transparent glitter varnishes, for fun. :3 I wouldn't categorize it as junk or scrap, but most of everything else I used to make the vanity desk is lol.
A side effect of organizing and unpacking boxes is I'm finally getting all my uncategorized items together in more usable groups--so for example all my wood bits and pieces are now combined together from several boxes into one basket on my crafting stuff shelf.
Another side effect is getting craft ideas while I group things together. ^^;;;
I'm gonna add some of the same glitter paints and varnishes to tie everything together, once the gem clutter 's glue has dried. :3
Anyway, I'm not a vanity-haver irl, so idk exactly what all most folks put on their vanity besides jewelry and makeup, but I figured bottles of cotton balls and q-tips was a safe start and whipped these up last night :3
I'm especially proud of the tiny cotton swabs :3c
Next I'm gonna make a bunch of perfume and nail polish bottles with beads and findings!

@anothersolarpunk That above image was just a photo edit to see if I wanted to go through with shortening the neck.
However, I do have an actual photo after the procedure!
I just haven't posted any updates on this project or the process because I've been burnt out.
As for the how, I simply followed @dollsahoy 's experiments!
Here are the posts she's made on the matter:
Hope that helps!
I've been looking at her like this for about a month and, nope, don't like her neck that long with her little head.
I really do not want to cut her neck off and reattach it, but...
...*sigh*...
...it would look better. =_=
Could probably also lessen the bulb? Maybe?

Thinking about @dollsahoy's comment on the way the colors of the yarn @queenofsquids used in her latest doll cardigan turned out and Red Heart variegated yarn is very good for "planned pooling".
Basically, you figure out exactly how many stitches of each color in what gauge, tension, and hook or needle size and you can make it do this:
It's math, so I've never managed to do it myself.

I got barbie extra 13 to customize! She's secondhand purchase bc I couldn't justify full price for ~mattel quality~ <.<
Misaligned earring hole is my biggest complaint but apparently that little bit wasn't completely cut off and I was able to push it out to hide the damage..
At least there was no guilt or fear over ruining her?
This project is me ticking things off my looong wishlist: Goddess sculpt, mint hair + darkish skintone, yarn as microbraids (technically twists?) and shaved side
Also leggings pattern by @dollsahoy, thanks for sharing!

After seeing @dollsahoy's Pumpkin Girl Hybrid I had to give it a go!
I had a couple of styrofoam pumpkins from Target's Dollar Spot a few years back so I used those. Made a small X on the middle of the bottom and popped the body right on, extremely easy. (The hardest part was removing the Boxy Girl's head) Highly recommend to anyone who wants to dip their toe into making a custom.
