Yesterday I took Caspar for a quick photo shoot. I wanted to portray him as the desert prince but since there's no sandy area in my neighbourhood, let's pretend he stayed in an oasis or a garden close to the palace. This outfit may seem a bit odd but that's the style in Kardea, the desert country he comes from. I'm really satisfied with what he looks like now. That's how I've always imagined him as the desert prince. The sash belt, pendant and circlet headpiece was made by me.

I guess a rainy day was technically the right weather for pictures of my little mushroom.

But honestly, this is the only ok photo I got that day, and it wasn't a very fun moment due to mud and everything being wet. If I hadn't been so impatient/frustrated by two weeks of non stop rain, I wouldn't have bothered.

It's crazy to me that d0llytr0n is asking to trade her yosd artist doll for really popular dolls like atelier monomi and dollchateau. Nothing against her work, but offering a small artist yosd for a company msd seems like a hard bargain.

Last week, I came across a two-month old sales post for a hybrid doll. The post mentioned that both the head and body could be sold separately, which was perfect, since I was looking for a body for my Benetia head. The seller asked a very reasonable price and I immediately contacted them about the body. However, just ten minutes after they promised to send me the payment information later that evening, they said that there was already a buyer for both the head and body.

This was quite frustrating, as the post had been up for over two months and I couldn't believe that someone had just happened to buy the whole doll right after I expressed my interest in the body.

If I had seen the post a few days earlier, I could have had this body.

And there are two other bodies for sale that I like. Dollstown elf and Dollchateau boy body. Both are wonderful and quite pricey. And DSAM 32 body. It's like some kind of bad joke. Just when I promised that I won't buy any more doll in the near future, here they are, popping up like mushrooms after rain.

Idk why, but I get dollchateau vibes... but that's probably just from the proportions on the skelly body.

I got another cheapo doll-skeleton at Goodwill. Because her face felt unusual, kinda reminded me of other dolls, and I liked her tiny pointy chin.

Wiped the spooky paint off. It was weird and made loud crackly sounds, I thought I was crackling the head pushing too hard or something. But it was the paint, which came off in big crunchy pieces.

Then I shaved down the casting lines on her cheeks a little bit just as a pastime while I was waiting for drugs to kick in so I could sleep. So not a real attempt at making this sloppy surface bjd-level or anything.

More like just entertaining myself seeing what I could poke my nose into.

Anyway doesn't she look unusual for a Halloween prop? Reminds me of Miss No Name, Luts Kid Delf Bory, and Toffee dolls all at once.

My lovely dark mage Oriana is the naughtiest doll in my resin crew. She kicks, slaps her face and constantly drives me crazy. It requires much time and patience to dress her up. But how can I not love her? She's a real beauty! The staff and necklace are made by me. Her beautiful eyes were made by Ashuradarkeyes and I can recommend that artist, those are the best eyes I've ever had.

My big aims for 2024 is to use my supplies more, and try to get all my dolls photo ready (and also to just try to do more new things in general)

I've been a lot on pinterest, looking for outfit ideas for my dolls, and I've been exposed to a lot of mushroom hats, making me want to try my hand at one.

The project was... Ok ? It was interesting to brainstorm this, and to use some supplies I've had around for literally years in some cases. But I'm also dissatisfied with the end result. It feels full of mistakes (starting with the fact I intended it to be for a bigger doll, but I made the hat too small somehow) (actually the dress is also much smaller than intended, it wasn't meant to fit so close to the body)

The technique I used to make the hat also wasn't the best, and now the underlying structure is more visible than I would like. At the same time, I did have fun putting on all those beads.

In the end tho, it was my first time trying something like this, so I guess I should not judge myself too harshly? I'll just have to do better next time. And also, I'm happy that the hat ended up on that doll. It's one I like a lot, part of the reason I got back into bjd in 2018/19, but its peculiar body was very hard to dress, so I never did much with it. But being a little mushroom is fun and suits them! I might even try to take them for photos in the park later this week.

Finally spring moved in here, time for the Storyteller and finally his in character photos. As he was a spirit of spring before he became the Storyteller he still is somewhat attached to the season itself. It’s like his natural habitat.
