there's something mesmerizing about dbz kakarot's bardock dlc. you're on a planet your people stole, in a base run by the force occupying your people. you pick fights with higher classes of your own kind, but you don't dare say no to even a noncombatant from the ranks of your occupiers. to your victims you're unstoppable monsters, but to your conquerors you're particularly worthless meat for the grinder. the unfeeling justifications you quip out as you massacre others are thrown back in your face when your conquerors decide they've had enough of you.

that's the point, of course. bardock's curse is to see his people suffer the fate he handed out to countless others. but it's a rung on the ladder of empire i haven't met a lot in fiction: both vector and victim of its exploitation, the obedient dog tearing out throats just to get scraps from its owner's table, surprised when its owner decides to turn around and take it out back with a shotgun.

the only way to endure compliance in a system of exploitation is to convince yourself that compliance will spare you a worse alternative. the saiyans spend the story unable to even let themselves think about what it means if frieza's drones are spying on them, unwilling to question why they were called back, insistently calling themselves loyal. when the kill order comes, bardock and his team, enraged, protests: 'we were loyal! we served! how could you turn on us?'

but power dictates term, it doesn't follow them. that's what power means. and the saiyans should know that, because it's what they've enforced every time they were the ones facing down people who could do nothing to stop them

Cross X Lust was Not on my bingo board of things I'd draw, but the combo just settled in my head and felt Super Right and I got to sketching and realized I really liked their energy and just... didn't stop drawing! Thank you SO MUCH for the request! (They give me the vibes of Cross being the one who insists on being chivalrous and very protective, while Lust gets some freedom to relax and be himself and get pampered a bit! Idk if I explained it right, but it makes sense in my brain-)

There's speculation that Floatshimmer's kits are Graysky's, since one of the kits are silver like him, you know, the dude that was made a warrior when she was a kit.

To be fair, Graysky is ridiculously young as well. He might have been described as being ready to be a warrior at the start of ASC, but he was born in Lost Stars and is only a little over a year old at the end of the last arc.

EVERYONE got hit with the Time Travel Beam... in fact. Funfact: RiverClan actually has always had a weird issue with their allegiance cats aging really fast.

Anyway, digressing. If it does pan out to have Graysky as the father...

Eventually I like the idea of Floatshimmer and Graysky being a couple (their names make me think of bright sunshine on a cloudy day, making the waves of the lake twinkle with light), but absolutely not while they're so young. Both of them need at least another year or so.

(At the earliest, have their kits mid-arc, ideally later.)

That said, I'm still willing to shuffle them both a bit to be closer in age. I'm growing interested in the idea that they're like, the cat equivalent of 18 and 19-ish. Young, dumb, impulsive, ended up with kittens looong before they were ready and it's impacting their relationship negatively.

Still deciding, though.

why does the pjo series have to unnecessarily villainize goddesses (hera & athena) or show them as silly ladies (aphrodite & demeter) BUT posiedon and apollo are somehow shown as the coolest/most likeable gods, even though arguably, they're right after zeus on terms of corruption?

ares shown as the worst god after zeus and hera amuses me. last time i checked, he was the patron god of amazons and literally killed a man for attempting to rape his daughter but guess who cursed women for rejection? apollo. guess who raped women when they said no (aside from zeus)? posiedon.

i've seen a fair amount of people that have a take that's something along the lines of "alden isn't abusive/toxic/a bad parent but i like exploring that in fic, so i often characterize him like that anyway" and i'm so curious as to why these people are not extending this same purposeful character assassination to other parents, like grady, or even kesler, and why it seems to be an only alden thing /gen
