Was pondering how Mark’s rigid ass mask/lens is prob a Budget Thing (since squishy, bendy lens are pretty much a mandate for all hero animated series, like JL, BTAS, TNBA, Spider-Man, etc), and then I was slapped with a vision of Mark in a more JL/BTAS-ish style and I had to see it through. I am a genius btw.

#i had MANY thoughts while drawing my brain melted while posting so if ya have questions send 'em / ask 'em #but rapid fire: leans more into nightwing's look b/c bro's name is legit grayson + moves away from his father's sidekick/protege +#and legit has a blue and black outfit. that is soooo winking at robin (dick grayson specifically)#mark has a more casual / athletic fit and tried to keep his usual kicked puppy expression / mood #which then contrasts his more emotional (hero) side he acts upon when he's suited up as ANOTHER wink to the whole dual persona #mark does it unintentionally as he's eager to prove himself as invincible and thus more emotional/confidential/eager + feels lackluster #as just mark grayson.#but it's such a comic book trope it's interesting el show ignores the potential stakes for that + prob cause they dont focus on #villains #mark has debbie's cheek bones + pearls both so he skip the whole copy paste design tactic cartoons annoyingly use + wink at batman w/ pearl #nolan wears pink and debbie wears green b/c they have conflicting views on raising Mark but (used to?) stand on a somewhat #united front by having same collared shirt. but mark leans more on debbie's stuff visually w/ cooler colors + white shirt underneath #mark keeps his cape as another wink/nod at robins (tim drake TNBS specifically) which mimics his Dad + kid-like eagerness for hero stuff #which he gets rid off when he goes blue/black suit arc (cough cough nightwing looking ass) so just leaned MORE into it #mark has a heart on his chest because he's TRYING to do what he think he's best + emotional asf #lens/goggles are diff to keep the audiences' eye back at HIS eyes + look more ominous and predatory which the black/blue combo #already COULD do in canon but in show its just pallete swapped which ruins the more ominious look it probably intended #and doesnt really scream “OH NO! THERE'S NO GOLD! WHICH could be a marker of mark's joy vanishing!!!”#but i hope it does now but ALSO having design changes #the brainrotsreal's art tag ✧˖°:*♡#invincible rotating in my mind #mark grayson #invincible fanart #invincible #fanart #digital art #procreate art #i wish the style leaned more this way since it is messing with or TRYING to mess with some superhero tropes before it does its own thing #just straight up use nostalgia bait while it has his JL knock off #artists on tumblr

Danny grumbles, going limp as the Spirit plucked him up, holding him out like some sort of stray cat. Their golden eyes stared across him, white hair shimmering and bloodied feathers rustling as they tilted their head.

“You sure he’s not somehow ours?” Bludhaven asks again, setting him down once more to circle. Amity laughs, wild hair the color of wheat fluttering in a non-existent breeze and portal pulsing like a heart as she rests a hand on his head.

“Well darlin’, I am asking if you would be open to adopting,” the Spirit laughs, the sound as familiar as the birds outside his window in the mornings. “Well, I suppose I could always ask your dear sister Arkham-”

“No no, I would be honored,” Bludhaven smiled a literally sharp grin, something mischievous and violent about it in a way Danny was slowly growing used to. “I’m just- look at the little ghostling! He looks like he could be from ours! My hair, your eyes… he’s just missing markings…”

“Markings he’ll get once you give me an answer darlin’...”

“OH- Yes, of course! Sorry, I got whelmed there.”

“You have been stalking your vigilante a bit too much there Blud.”

#alan becker #animator vs animation #ava #ava tdl #ava victim #captive tdl au #long tag warning #dark is going to have some dog/caged animal symbolism and machine symbolism #TDL is very much a problem captive also very annoying one at that #you can blame the high security one him since his constant escapes helped rocket corp to tighten their security #victim is definitely insane and he will do some incredibly messed up stuff in this au #the machinery on agent is supposed to look like it is slowly consuming him like some kind of infestation #agent has some issues as well and will be an enabler for victim #victim and agent's relationship will get some attention in this au but the main plot will still revolve around chosen and dark #chosen and dark's relationship is a lot more complex so i won't bother to summarise it all since i don't really want to spoil it #TSC will receive a bit of attention since he is still very much tied to the plot of ava #tsc does have a split personality like an alter ego that takes over when he is in danger #i dont think i would really touch on the colour gang since i think it would make the story too messy #i do have most of the story already planned out #it is just the part leading to the ending #every weapon and tech in rocket corp was tested on TDL #in a way he did help with the destruction of chosen by helping rocket corp to improve their tech by being their test subject #fulfilling his code in its own twisted way #btw the additional cage in his containment area is to temporarily hold him during the box maintainence or upgrades #it is also the same type of cage that TSC is kept in currently #the box prototype that TDL is in would probably have a different name like 'the cage'#the bars of the cage is electrically charged and it also resembles a dog cage (dog symbolism)#there won't be too much about dark during his captivity since it will be more about how it impacted the relationship between him and chosen #i would probably start posting more random lore bits every now and then between comics #i hope i stop getting side tracked when working on this au
