it again makes me think that alilloyd as a ship has soooo much potential. it could be so so good,,, this moment especially helps give it a little ground to stand on,,, i just wish there was a stronger foundation,,, it could be even greater,,, ohhh,,,, maybe in future eps who knows? we'll have to wait and see,,,

im willing to bet that this belief is also one that was sourced from credos/jang-cheol, just like the rock paper scissors game and just the farming/pacifism schtick as a whole. it probably played a part in how he had to convince the demons to follow him in the first place,,,

this could also indicate that living honestly and working to earn is a principle that jang-cheol followed in korea, and he decided that he would stick with it when he became credos. alternatively, he had the complete opposite principle (he was a gamer after all, with a max level character,,, could imply that he spent all his time on the game) but when he got transmigrated, he realized that he had another shot at making a living honestly and decided to commit to that. there isn't really enough to make a solid conclusion on how jang-cheol lived, but this is an interesting indicator and i think it's worth a bookmark! i hope the prequel gets a manhwa so i can read it,,, manifesting,,,

i genuinely had a lot of fun reading this ep the moments were all so fun and i'm very glad that things are looking up for them,,,!!! this does also worry me that there's going to be one more final obstacle before we actually get their good ending. bc now that i think abt it, getting the eye of summer does save lloyd but it doesn't stop fate,,, so,,, there might be more trouble ahead. but i'm not gonna worry about that right now!!! i'm coping!!! i'm coping.

So, I'm newish to fandom, right? Though I'm not new to being obsessed about particular shows, my last rounds of obsession came when the blogosphere was still a thing, and that's where my blathering about it in the tags energy went.

I get that "Positive feedback only on art and fic" is a way of extending support to artists and writers who make things for free! (I also have ascertained that we don't have the same norms for meta / nonfiction, which I find fascinating AF. Is it that meta's commitments are more explicitly intellectual, and that we therefore expect and accept a level of critique we wouldn't where fic and art are concerned?)

The caveat I've been seeing "Except where racism is concerned-- we call out racism ..."

We don't. Not universally, not consistently. And I'm going to bet calling out racism when that calling out actually happens is a comparatively new fandom norm, and there are some people who dismiss it as a form of moralism. My point here is:

Fandom norms aren't eternal, and (this is my blogosphere training talking)

Re: "ship and let ship," you like what you like, but what you like is culturally influenced. Subtracting the wrinkles from someone you're drawing comes from somewhere (and it's not always "I'm drawing an AU in which these guys met in high school"). Drawing someone as skinnier than they are comes from somewhere. (I'm thin. The number of times IRL someone has attempted to force-team me into bonding over snarking on someone for their fatness is substantial and not cute.)

The norm of "If you don't like it, use the back button" means if I nope out of your fic in chapter 7 because I just read a sentence in which Stede's eyes are blue, and that has been a pretty reliable proxy for racism, you will never know why I stopped engaging. You won't know that I stopped reading because your Ed can't read-- a detail that you think is canonical but that has been disproven multiple times in the show. You might think life intervened. No. I have three hours of commuting and a ridiculous amount of reading time. If I didn't finish a fic there is a reason why. Maybe you're happier not knowing it. Meanwhile I'm thinking: if we were actually friends, I would be working up the courage to talk to you about it, because Blogosphere Years Ago I promised that I would not let pointing out racism, fatphobia, ableism be the sole responsibility of POC, fat people, and people with disabilities.

I get that it's stressful to be called out. Hell, it's stressful to say "I have a problem with this" too! But I've also seen people do absolute master classes in responding to a gentle callout without defensiveness, and with changed behavior, and it made me better at in-person conflict to witness. One of my blogosphere lessons is: Preferring harmony over growth isn't neutral. It's culturally white, and it has costs (mostly to the people who don't share the cultural positioning of the majority).

So yeah: part of what makes me sad about the back button norm is that I think it reinforces a producer / consumer relationship between writers and readers. If I can't tell you when I've got a problem with something, and you can't tell me when you've got a problem with something, that's a hard limit on the extent to which we can know each other. (Also: because I write meta rather than fic, it is absolutely within tumblr norms for you to tell me my take is bad, even if it's not within fandom norms for me to say "I love this fic except for X.") And as someone who made enduring IRL friendships from my blogosphere days, I find that a bit saddening.

Okay, I finally broke down and read the MHA epilogue leaks and I'm throwing my thoughts at the wall here so they'll get out of my brain. I fully did NOT seek these leaks out, but I was inundated with them all over tumblr, Insta, and even TikTok.

First and foremost, canon genuinely means very little to me. 90% of my enjoyment of MHA comes from fan works, including creating my own AUs and whatnot with friends, so like... canon being bad can't hurt me. I'm also old and have lived through way worse queerbaiting and fandom wars. There's also probably a lot lost in translation that we don't know yet and won't know until the official release. 🤷‍♀️

In no particular order, here is my brain dump on:

Izuocha and shipping in general

- as mentioned above, I don't really care about canon and I don't think ships need to be canon to be meaningful and enjoyable. I'll ship characters who never meet. I'll ship characters from completely different fandoms. Who's gonna stop me? In general, I think the shippers need to stop putting so much emphasis on a particular ship being canon.

- ALL THAT BEING SAID, BKDK was my first MHA ship and it's incredibly important to a lot of people. I think Hori had the opportunity to do something with that relationship that would have been groundbreaking, and he chose not to. He also had the opportunity to simply not focus on any ships and he didn't do that either, soooo... yeah. I think it's okay to be bitter that we still can't have a canon queer ship in shounen. It's reasonable to be disappointed. BKDK and Togachako were the most moving and complex relationships portrayed in the entire manga, in my humble opinion, and it does sting that they got pushed aside.

- I am not a fan of Izuocha, even though I generally like Ochaco. I just find it boring. I'm not enthused by het ships in general, but Izuocha in particular has zero chemistry in my eyes. They're also very similar characters in their mannerisms and personality, and I prefer "opposites attract" type ships that are more dynamic. I prefer Izuku and Ochaco as besties. They went through such similar traumas during the war, being unable to save someone that truly mattered to them, I would prefer to think of this ending as them helping each other move past their PTSD to rekindle a closer friendship.

- ALL OF THAT BEING SAID, while the chapter did not explicitly pair up ANY couples (except apparently Mushroom Girl and Vantablack? which is?? cute but random???), it's definitely implied that Izuocha is pursuing a romantic relationship. Feel free to tell yourself something different but it is what it is.

The hero rankings and other random plot crumbs

- the rankings also felt so incredibly random to me?? Best Jeanist dropping below Mt. Lady? what??

- good on Lemillion being number one though, I always imagine him in the top spot and I think the MHA world needs a hero like that to lift their spirits after the war. It makes sense that he's popular.

- also makes sense that Shouto is number two but wtf do you mean AIR CONDITIONING HERO

- so many of the updated character designs on the adult heroes are BAD, but Jeanist looks slick

- they changed Shinsou's hero name? for why? and gave him a bad haircut??

- absolutely no mention of how Hawks and All Might are working to revamp the hero rankings system, do not accept this

- Mirio is one of my favorite characters but his scene was weird af

- so many inconsistencies in the art style and messaging

- people randomly saying ominous things with no follow through like "heroes won't be around for much longer" or whatever

- I saw someone mention an implication that Bakugou is married to a woman but I didn't find any sign of that in the leaks, so I think that's fake. I know everyone is upset about Dynamight being number 15, and I agree that's too low, but that irritation is low on my list of grievances.

- the whole conversation between Baku and Deku about joining his agency was confusing and unfulfilling? I get why Deku would say no to being a sidekick, but I also don't feel like that's what Bakugou was offering, and they had the conversation in the car with Kirishima... just awkward. Which segues into my next talking point

Horikoshi's writing as a whole

- I think you can easily track the degradation of Hori's writing from the vigilante Deku arc to now. It's disjointed, confusing, often strays from established themes, and meanders around on weird tangents. It's... not great. It's not awful, but not great, especially for an epic climax/epilogue. Which is fine! He's a human being, not a content machine! But I think it's fair for fans to be disappointed that the writing has gone downhill, especially since the art has improved and become much more dynamic and interesting at the same time.

- in my view, it's incredibly easy to see that Hori lost his passion and was completely burnt out on MHA as we approached the end. The writing reflects a desire to wrap up everything quickly. Vital details are written in text rather than shown on the page. Storylines and themes are abandoned. Characters die, fail, or excel completely off screen. Hori spends more screen time and puts more emphasis on random side characters (see: Dai and the figure escaped a basement and was saved by that grandmother) rather than main characters, probably because it would be too difficult to give better endings to the main characters.

- you can also see the difference between the complex symbolism and plot points set up since the very beginning in earlier chapters, and all of that complexity and the hopeful vibes are bled away at the end. It's sad, actually.

- I saw an interesting take that this final chapter is Hori trying to make everyone happy - implying Izuocha while leaving BKDK still kind of open, making Deku a teacher AND a hero, listing all of the rankings, etc. and I think this is the theory that makes the most sense to me. He's taking a safer route and trying to please as many fans as possible, while unfortunately disappointing everyone.

- I've also heard that there's pressure from editors or Shounen Jump to have the series end this way, but I don't know about that. I'd think they would want to keep milking this cash cow forever. Maybe that partially explains the lack of queer canonical ships.

- SPEAKING OF WHICH, I've heard consistently from the fanbase that Hori is more progressive and more queer-friendly than other mangaka, but I honestly haven't seen any proof of this. Feels like wishful thinking. I've also hear that he's had other canon gay and trans characters, but the only ones I know of are Magne and Tiger, both characters that are simply implied to be gender nonconforming and maybe trans. But these are also not necessarily great portrayals, even if they are intended to be canon. Maybe there are characters in other works of his that I don't know about.

- maybe I'm jaded, but I also can't shake the assumption that Hori purposefully implied Izuocha at the end because he doesn't like his main characters being seen as gay. We've seen this in many other fathoms. Even if Hori didn't want to make BKDK canon, there are other popular queer ships that could have been given a tiny spotlight if he really wanted to have that representation.

- this is going back to shipping a bit, but Hori had this entire manga to create a meaningful relationship between Izuku and Ochaco and he just... didn't? Instead he literally and figuratively pushed them together at the end? Why not show them going on cute dates and getting closer? Why not a kiss? It just feels like a half-hearted cop-out. Ochaco has more chemistry and more screen time with Toga's ghost living in her brain than with Izuku. I am not exaggerating.

- I think Hori has a major case of "oops I accidentally wrote a powerful queer love story" syndrome (see also: Destiel) and just didn't know what to do with that. There's so little room for chemistry with other characters when you make the entire story about Bakugou and Izuku's relationship. 👀

- I think a lot of fans put Hori on a pedestal and expected perfection, but it turns out he's just one guy and he can't please everyone. I never got the vibe that he was a particularly great writer, and I never got the vibe that he was going to make BKDK canon. I think he (kind of like a certain JKR) created an amazing world and beloved characters, and then really fumbled at the very end when all the pressure was on.

Okay, I think I've cleansed my brain enough of all this.

TLDR: I think Horikoshi's writing has unfortunately been going downhill for a long time and this is the culmination of that. I feel bad for the man because he's probably under so much pressure and so burnt out - he wants to be done. Maybe we would have gotten something better if Hori could take some extended breaks or hand off the manga to someone else.

I'm disappointed about BKDK but more in an "I'm disappointed that we couldn't have this representation in 2024" way than a personal way. I would have preferred no ships. I'll keep enjoying fan content of lots of different ships that aren't canon and you should too! The canon can't hurt you! I hope we get the queer shounen we all deserve one day.

How I feel about this character

I am a card-carrying member of the Wei Wuxian Protection Squad. He's such a selfless hero that it becomes a major character flaw. He would literally give his everything if it meant to save someone he believes is worth saving. But I'm sure he's aware of how sacrificial he is and he is just ok with it. I love that he is so intelligent and cunning. He's knowledgeable without it being his whole personality. He's kind, funny, and charming but such a magnet for bad shit. I think he's a spectacular character who has so much to offer but also thinks so little of himself at times. I would love to be one of the people in his corner fighting with him and for him because he was really treated like crap by damn near everyone around him.

All the people I ship romantically with this character

Wangji of course because that's his husband. I love that Wangji makes it his mission to protect and take care of Wuxian because Wuxian takes care of and protects everyone else. I love that Wangji took that time apart from Wuxian to grow and learn from his mistakes. He would do anything to take care of Wuxian.

But also maybe MianMian. I think he would've been cute af with MianMian and she was one of the few people who actually believed in his innocence the entire series. She was kind and smart and pretty and brave. She stood on business.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Wen Ning and Wen Qing, please he fits so well with them and they definitely took care of Wuxian like a sibling. They were loyal to each other til the end. Nie Huaisang, specifically when they were teenagers, they both seemed to crave mischief and I love watching them bond over how boring their training was. Huaisang was always down for some shenanigans with his bestie Wuxian. Also he did resurrect Wuxian.

My unpopular opinion about this character

I think he should've let all those assholes die up on his mountain. They literally went up that mountain to kill him over some "he-said-she-said" bullshit. He had every single right to be as petty as he wanted to be. He should've escorted those kids, Wen Ning, and Wangji right down that hill and left the rest of those ungrateful jerks up there with the killer zombie puppets. I wish that Wuxian had learned to be a bit more selfish, his heroics were inspiring but also so damn infuriating. He had his husband STRESSED out.

Also idk if it is unpopular on not but Wuxian in his full blown Yiling Laozu era was my favorite Wuxian. That dark energy turned him into such a cutthroat savage. He was absolutely unhinged and badass and I LOVED it.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

I know they had to cut out a bunch of crap in the series but I wish they had managed to fit in the part in the novel when Wuxian was present at whatever that luncheon Uncle Lan Qiren put on. The little extra excerpt when they was only serving like bitter medicinal type soup and Wangji ate it all for him and then they went back to the jingshi where I think Wangji cooked him a meal. Also NO ONE WHO DIDN'T READ THE NOVEL DOESN'T KNOW THAT WANGJI IS A GOOD COOK!

TF2 comics chapter 7 negativity 😎

Ok so I’m seeing everyone being happy and grateful for last chapter, but I’m old salty woman so I think I want to express my negative opinion and maybe some of you might feel validated in your negativity by seeing it as well.

Negativity alert!

Ok so….yeah. I’m not impressed. Big focus on hetero romance, nothing but hints for homos. Pauling being the most obvious (if not only one tbh). And as I’ve said many times it’s always fairly easy to put wlw romance into big franchise especially with attractive feminine female characters. So I am NOT applauding to this. They could’ve done more.

Next I love Announcer so much she’s such a queen and big part of the chapter is dedicated to her, but then she just dies because she’s lost/gone full bananas with her revenge and there’s nothing anyone can do to help her. I hate that kind of endings. I hate them soooo much but ok. She’s a villain and she dies. Very Disney-esque ending.

I also think not giving any explanation to anything and then being like “duuuuh that the point violence is senseless” is also LAME AF. But ok. Again it is just a matter of taste and I can’t say it’s “bad” story choice. But it is bad in my own opinion because I find it boring and very idealistic. Same message was with Gortash and Karlach in BG3 but at least we knew how Gortash was abused in his childhood. So it was way better.

Ending. Hate with passion that Scout don’t know that Spy is his dad still. I generally disliked when they made Spy Scout’s dad in comics, but oh well.

I also wasn’t touched by the ending lmao. “Thank you for being here for 7 years”. I wasn’t there for 7 years because you didn’t do anything to fix the fucking game and it is still unplayable and filled with bots.

And making people wait for 7 years for this was absolutely ridiculous they could’ve hired another writer or another artist (I forgot what their deal was) 6 years ago. Or maybe 5.

Scout with kids? Cute and funny. Heavy and Medic? Cute but nothing of substance. Valve have nothing to loose, they could’ve give us more GAY. But they didn’t. Ok.

I also hoped for Announcer/Pauling (I shipped them so much) but nope. Not much there either (something is there for sure, just not much).

Overall? Meh. I’m glad I lost my patience for new chapter 5 years ago so I was able to read new chapter with cold head. If I was actually waiting all these years I would’ve been so furious lmao.

No offence to Valve, writers, artists, ect.

That’s just my personal opinion.

So I’ve actually only thought up lore for my selfships with cyno and capitano and a little bit for tighnari, kinich and kazuha. I have almost nothing for the rest which is quite a few (im sorry im a whore for genshin men 😅).

And of those ships, I am only a Sumerian princess in my selfships with cyno and kinich. And even in those two, the lore differs a lot.

But one thing I have in common in all my selfships is that I have an anemo vision and use a polearm.

I’m gonna try and summarize things bc there are too many details in some of these and I’m worried things will be too confusing ha ha. Also this is gonna be so long I’m sorry

CYNO

With cyno, I am princess of the Kingdom of Sahra (made up) in the desert of sumeru and am betrothed to Alhaitham who is prince of the Kingdom of Ilm (also made up) in the forest side of Sumeru. Long story short, my kingdom is attacked and there are threats of my assassination being sent to the castle. So Alhaitham sends his lead guard, Cyno, to escort me safely to the forest.

The art I have with cyno is when I first meet him actually!! That very same night of our first meeting is when my palace is attacked and cyno and I escape through the walls and underground routes. He is then tasked with guarding me across the desert while avoiding a group of hunters that want me dead. (They want me dead bc of a prophecy that says I’ll be the one who kills their organization’s leader).

During our journey we go through different cities, tiny villages, mysterious runes etc etc. We even come across this little guy who Cyno hatesss bc he distrusts it but I love him and drag him along on our journey. I still haven’t picked a name for him but he is our adventure pet (every good adventure needs one)

As we travel, we learn more about each other and in turn fall in love. I fell first he fell harder. I’m the first person to laugh at his jokes (I genuinely love his jokes they make my day) and he’s so protective of me that it makes me swoon. Fun fact is that I pretend that I’m absolutely helpless bc I rather like watching him fight for me and I’m a sucker for being the damsel in distress. But at some point I am forced to actually fight and ofc I kick ass. However cyno is completely surprised by my skill and finds me admirable but also ridiculous bc why have I been hiding it????

There’s also definitely a moment where we’re stopping by a village with an ongoing festival and bc it’s me I can’t not join their dancing. Eventually I pull him in to dance with me and it’s one of those oh moments where he realizes he’s falling for me. Which is bad bc I’m supposed to marry his friend and prince, Alhaitham. So that’s where the angst comes in but by the time we get to Alhaitham’s palace, I too have fallen for cyno duh.

I am stubborn af so I straight up tell Alhaitham I don’t wanna marry him and he’s like yeah ok I don’t have a problem with that. (Me and haitham are chill penpals and also he has a separate romance with a friend of mine in this au). And instead me and cyno get married but only after we work with Alhaitham and co. to take down all the people behind my death threats etc.

This was all inspired by this art I saw. It’s one of my fave cyno fanarts and this whole idea rushed into my brain when I saw it

KINICH

With kinich, I’m a Sumerian princess also from the desert side but I’ve run away for the chance to adventure. And bc I have no sense of direction but find trouble easily, I end up in a deadly situation where I’m running for my life from a yumkasaurus on the cliffs of natlan. I slip off the cliff and my scream alerts kinich who is nearby and swings over to save me from my death kinda like a spiderman moment. When we get to safety he scolds me for being so careless, which makes me wanna annoy him even more so he low-key starts to hate me.

When he brings me to Mauvika (by force btw bc I don’t want to see her) she recognizes me as royalty right away (that’s why I didn’t wanna see her) but I convince her to assign him as my travel guide so I can adventure natlan safety. Our relationship is very I annoy him and he is forced to just deal with it. He’s a very patient man loooool

With tighnari I’m a new scholar at the akedimiya who took on a research product about a specific consecrated red vulture that was acting abnormally. But I somehow got caught in its grip and it started flying me to its nest in the forest (that’s the abnormality. It lives in the cool wet forest instead of the hot dry dessert). At some point while it’s flying I try to fight my way out of its claws and I succeed but then fall a big fall in the middle of the forest. The trees slow down my descent and tighnaris quick reflexes catch me just in time. That’s how we meet!! I don’t have anything else for this ship but I know that he makes me very flustered 🙈

KAZUHA

With kazuha, it’s kinda angsty and that’s bc he took fucking forever to come home so I created this based on my upset feelings when pulling for him. I’ve spent the most money and wishes on him and everytime he makes me use the absolute maximum amount of wishes I hate him (I don’t).

But basically I’m a simple village girl from inazuma who fell in love with kazuha but he left on that ship with beidou one day without telling me which broke my heart. For weeks and weeks, I wait for him to come back but all he does is send one letter explaining why he had to leave. But it hurt me too much already, so I leave our house bc I don’t want the reminder of him being gone. By the time he comes back to visit, I’ve also left. There’s no trace of me left. And now he’s determined to travel teyvat to find me again.

First of all can, this list is immaculate (bar cutie pie, did not vibe with that one bit)

Secondly, I see you with your insane taste in ships. Maxnat from Two Worlds/Naughty Babe? This is top tier shit. I found Naughty Babe awful and mostly unwatchable (I'm not domundi's- the company who produced naughty babe and cutie pie- biggest fan) but MAXNAT??? That pairing have me wrapped round their fingers. Especially Max. Goddamn.

Thirdly, did you like love in the air? Thoughts on the second half of the show in particular? Because the other main couple (fort and peat) are my precious fucking baby angels and I would die for them. And if you liked them then my first recommedation is the currently airing Love Sea the series, because they're tearing me limb from limb. Every week they do something that thrills, excites, and terrifies me all in equal standing.

In terms of other recs, I can definitely give you a few I enjoyed, because your list is very good already and I'm seeing that we have quite similar taste.

I want to throw the show Manner of Death at you. You've seen Together With Me, and if you liked our boys Max and Tul and managed to wade your way through that show plus it's sequel, based on their chemistry alone, then Manner Of Death will be refeshing change for you. Because their chemistry is even better and the story line actually has a very clever and exciting narrative. Plus, its a lot more mature than your average highschool drama bl.

Tale of 1000 Stars is another show I really enjoyed. Its bl pairing is Earth and Mix, they have fantastic chemistry and the show has a really interesting plot that kept me hooked. It's a bit more typical thai bl in certain aspects, and the intimate nc scenes are next to none, but their relationship is one I was hooked on and I enjoyed the story a lot.

I have also enjoyed: 4 Minutes is only one episode in, but I can already tell it's going to be a favourite, which says a lot. But I am also very biased towards the lead male, Bible Wichapas aka Vegas from Kinnporsche. Man Suang is a movie, not series, but its on Netflix and its Mileapo from Kinnporsche. It's historical, gritty, heart-hitting, and just generally very fucking well produced. Moonlight Chicken (the side couple had me hooked immediately) Ingredients (cute af mini series with a Jeff Satur-Kim from KP) My Stand-In (I endjoyed it for what it was, it was a bit ridiculous) Vice-Versa (If you liked JimmySea you'll probably enjoy this) Bad Buddy (Great chemistry between the main characters) And a Taiwanese bl I liked was: History 3: Trapped.

May I suggest (a shortened version of one of my most developed hcs): Zuko being sick and clingy and Sokka taking care of him super diligently. Staying nearby and bringing him food and water and more blankets (and his coat hehe) and anything else he needs.

Also Zuko refusing to take the medicine Sokka brings him "because it's gross" but actually it's because he's maybe not so secretly enjoying this and doesn't wanna get better yet

Eventually he realizes it's not fair to Sokka even though he doesn't mind at all and would do it forever, so he finally takes the meds and is on the mend.

But to make up for delaying it for so long he starts getting up to do things for himself and tells Sokka he doesn't have to worry about it anymore but Sokka's like "nonsense you're not all the way better yet, go back to bed and let me handle this"

Sokka trying to make soup at some point but he absolutely sucks at cooking (no idea if this checks out or not, he just has that vibe to me) so he asks Katara or Aang (or Iroh if he's around) for help. No one tells Zuko that Sokka didn't make it himself.

I feel like that's a weird place to end the hc but it's 4 in the morning and I don't know anymore lol. I hope it's coherent enough to understand 😂 I don't sleep anymore I just write this stuff

Percabeth

Okay so, I’ma be real. I was kinda disappointed when they got together. I thought we were gonna have “Not Every Boy/Girl relationship is Romantic” representation. But as I read more of their relationship after that, I learned to love their relationship, because its not ALL romantic. They still have that same close friendship they did before they got together and I love that. Their 5 book build up was absolutely awesome tho tbh. Love a slowburn. They are genuinely cute, silly and fun. They are the old married couple at camp teaching the campers cool stuff together. They really compliment each other. Something so personal and perfect about their relationship is that they are both different kinda of smart. Percy is street smart and Annabeth is academically smart. Also, they are both strategic in their own ways and are strong af. The fact that they are basically each other and healing the other while healing themself is precious to me. They are both insecure and feeling lonely in a demigod world, but they found and completed each other.

Jasper

Yeah, no. Super forced, and not stable. Piper is loving someone who she doesn’t even know, hence her having false memories of him. Jason doesn’t even know her and instantly fell in love. Personally, I’m not a believer in love at first sight. You have to get to know the person to truly love them for all they are. Piper is insecure and a girlboss and this relationship is keeping her alive in HoO, because she is so angry at the world. She’s living off Jason practically and thats not healthy for either of them. Jason is progressively learning about her, but it’s so middle school relationship stuff. Its really shallow love and Piper needs more than that as a child of Aphrodite. Jason needs that too because that’s just how he is but they’re relationship is built of the stress and desperation of war. So yeah. Sorry if this isn’t accurate, I haven’t read HoO in a bit and I’m not good with characters lol.

Frazel

They’re cute tbh. Age gap is a little scary, but I read something proving that they’re closer in age if you look closely. Anyways, I really like these two. They were crushing on each other before war and were really the only ones there for each other before Percy came to save the day for the Fifth Cohort. They literally had a normal crush on each other, like Percabeth but they didn’t do anything super dangerous together that brought them closer I’m guessing. Their quest with Percy brought out parts of Hazel and Frank that they needed to learn about in order to pursue a healthy relationship. They learned of each other’s pasts. On the Argo II, Frank being jealous of Leo is so cute honestly. Hazel comforting him for it too is awesome and its a cool dynamic. They are just a cool, calm, awesome power couple. They are super powerful and it was so cool to see them discover themselves together and loving each other for it. And interracial representation?? Hello?? Awesome rep, I think. Their cultural differences didn’t stop them and that’s so good for them.

Caleo

No. Just, hell no. It’s a relationship sculpted of desperation. Calypso being nice to him all of a sudden on the beach was uncalled for. Enemies to lovers can NEVER be rushed. They were super rushed. Both of them are desperate too. Calypso was desperate to get off her island and Leo was desperate for a partner after seeing everyone else have one. That is not healthy ‼️‼️ Also, Calypso is mean to Leo?!?! Calypso is bossy and kinda sorta rude to him. Like, hello??!? Leo is a little blinded by the desperation of love to realize this. If they really wanna make it work, get couples counseling from Percabeth, they are by far the healthiest couple. Caleo was def something Rick pulled outta his ass.

Solangelo

Solangelo is my biggest ship, I love them, but I do have some opinions fs. First of all, they are beautiful in theory. I love thinking of what they could’ve been. Yeah the canon’s cool, but Rick doesn’t know how to write gay characters. So most their content is different from the straight couple until TSATS. TSATS was much better writing. Rick had helped from a queer author so they acted like any other couple once again. Second, I love their simplicity. Like, they saw each other in war, thought the other was cute and was like “oh what the the heck?” and eventually got together after the war showing it was not desperation but real. Honestly, I think it started out as a crush then some shallow dating, but after being through the Tower of Nero and that whole thing, it started to get more real. In TSATS, we see them get a deeper connection. They’re whole little shallow crush thing is getting deeper and that dynamic is awesome. Also, they complement each other, and they’re dynamics are awesome. But I really love that they teach each other things. Like Will teaching Nico to embrace his light but to not forget his darkness. Nico teaching Will to embrace his darkness but not to forget his light. They are learning to be healthy and how to do this relationship stuff. I could go on forever about them and not be done so I’ll stop here.

these are made up characters on a tv show, I cannot express this enough, my opinions on a tv show - no matter how important it is to me - do not matter in the grand scheme of things, and have no impact on anyone else. Neither do yours - do what you wish with your ships.

OTP - your favourite ship. the one you care most about. the one you (presumably) want to be cannon.

Multi-shipping - when you ship a character (part of your otp or not) with multiple people (this can be dependant on time, circumstance etc)

Do I want Buck and Eddie to be endgame? Absolutely.

Do I think Buck and Tommy are cute, deserve a fair shot and that Buck should get to be happy in a relationship? Without a doubt.

Why would I actively root for a relationship to go downhill when I can see that the characters are written to be good for each other? If the characters are written to not mesh (ie. Buck/Taylor) then I’m not going to root for that - I have faith in the story the writers are choosing to tell.

Honestly this is hella hard to answer for me given that

a) I can't get myself to keep going with Volatile for some fucking reason so a lot of potential ships in my story aren't realized yet or worse the characters in it haven't even been properly introduced yet (kill me, I'm bad at this)

and b) I'm really not that good at this whole romantic ship thing I'm realizing, the relationships that I personally find the most interesting in my story are either platonic, friendships, parental, sibling like relationships...that kinda stuff.

There are very few ships that I have planned in Volatile at the moment. And a lot of them are kinda crack ships or ships that are completely doomed by the narrative aka me.

Then of course there's the fact that I would spoil the hell out of people by dabbling into ships that haven't been introduced yet so....eh.....

That being said, I don't know if I can really give a good answer to this, much less an answer that anyone reading this could actually follow or find interesting at this point in time x_x

Anywhoo...I'll try.

Let's start with Roland and Liz,which is like the only potential canon ship I have in Volatile at the moment xDD

I absolutely adore these two together but as of now I don't think they'll have a future unless I decide to do a major rewrite. Idk. We'll see,

Then my favourite Crack/AU ship, Mabon and Caspian (courtesy of @drawing-way-outside-the-lines)

They're not really a crack ship xD But I didn't really have the chance to develop them much just yet, so as of now they're just an outlet for more nsfw and edgy shit and a more unhinged Mabon who wouldn't really be in character in the canon universe.

I find their dynamic interesting though because I feel like they both see the worst parts of themselves in each other which validates them and their behavior in certain ways, but also causes them to low key despise each other. It's a picture book co-dependent relationship that could force them to confront parts of themselves that they'd probably much rather ignore.

I am not entirely sure yet how this ship will evolve, again, since Simon hasn't even been introduced in Volatile yet despite him being present on my blog for quite some time now.

But I think they're cute af together, and they have the potential to do each other a lot of good or absolutely wreck each other . That's all I can say as of now.
