Hi. Um. So...
I've been quietly working on a really, really big, beautiful, maddening, PUNK AS FUCK collaborative DIY art project for about a year now with a whole bunch of people I've known for a loooonnng time and love a whoooole bunch.
I don't just believe in them as musicians. I believe in them as vibrant, brilliant, fiercely kindhearted human beings who make completely unclassifiable music and theatrics and wonderful community happen, and who deserve to be lifted up and celebrated and nurtured.
We FINALLY launched their Kickstarter today, after many months of collective work. Much to my delight, said Kickstarter has already made OVER FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS in less than five hours.
Hopefully we will double that amount by the end of the campaign (and THEN some) and my favorite live band of all time, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, can feed themselves and keep roofs over their heads, their family's heads, their crew's heads, while the band woodsheds and the full team preps to finish and release a studio album and a short film and then (WE HOPE! 100K OR BUST!) pile back into their magical doomsday bus and tour the continental US once again for the first time in 13 years.
I wouldn't be doing this for any other band. Not even one of my own projects. That is how much I love Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, and how deeply I respect what they make and who they ARE.
Go check out the campaign! Pitch in if you're inspired! Share the link far and wide if you care about me EVEN A LITTLE BIT PLZ AND THANK YOU because this job'll earn me a substantial paycheck as well, but ONLY if we're fully funded.
AMBUGATON.

i love movie hobie a lot but smth i hope to see in the next movie is more of his personality. i absolutely adore the nerdier side of him that’s shown in the comics. i get that they needed hobie to seem cool to motivate miles’ jealousy, but i like that being punk is inherently countercultural. naturally, we’re gonna be considered a little weird, offbeat, because we don’t conform to the social norm. comic hobie is a great example of this, being openly nerdy about the punk subculture. after all, what makes a nerd is being weirdly passionate about something, and what is being punk if not being unapologetically passionate about the music, diy, attitude and politics?
i think a lot of the subtle changes in his character can be attributed to his writing being moved from a punk creator to a larger studio with less of a personal position in the community. im not one of those people who thinks good characters getting public recognition totally devalues them, but there is something to be said about how punk characters are often edited to be more appealing to general audiences.
#i don’t know if i worded this well but i wanted to ramble#i have complex feelings about hobie brown as a punk#don’t get me wrong i LOVE him#but there’s something inherently paradoxical about something “alternative” gaining mainstream popularity#i just find this shit so interesting#anyway let hobie be a nerd in btsv!!#he means so much to me as a punk nerd#the subculture is made for us weird little punk freaks#and hobie is absolutely one of us#shocking news: not caring how cool you are often results in you being a fucking loser!!#and that’s not a bad thing!#that’s kinda the whole point#spiderpunk#hobie brown#atsv#across the spiderverse#spiderverse#punk

Your headcanons on what Jack and Pitch were doing during those 300 years (Jack’s rebirth into immortality, Pitch’s fall from the Dark Ages), when they weren’t trying to gain belief? Outside of their respective work, how do you think they spent their time? I think they like reading and traveling, for example (Rufftoon’s comics highlight that Jack and Pitch like books and storytelling, despite their stereotypes). Jack and Pitch also seem very DIY and self-learning due to their isolation.
Hello Anon!! This'll be fun 🤣
Jack was definitely getting into every place he shouldn't be, but could because nobody saw him. In A Cold and Dark Chronicle (the first fic we co-wrote for the fandom that is a self indulgent trash fire 🤣), we imply that Jack was watching the production of the latest movies before anybody else got to watch them. He would absolutely be reading the latest books over editor's shoulders, loitering in recording studios, present at sold out Broadway premiers, filling his days with all the media and experiences he wouldn't be able to if he were still alive.
Jack also displays too much grace to pretend he hasn't spent a horrendous number of hours practicing stupid human tricks. I bet if you give him a deck of cards, he could keep you entertained for hours. Baton twirling? A pro. Give him a yo-yo and see what happens. Silks, rings, and trapeze? Just another Tuesday for Jack.
It's a given that Pitch would read books, but he definitely also reads r/noSleep and has seen every episode of Unsolved Mysteries. He watches those compilation youtube videos of ghosts and disturbing things, and is subscribed to every analog horror channel. This man is up and up on the internet because the internet is where the scariest things are these days.
He's also obviously artistic, he sculpted all of those nightmares, and likes to dance, did you see him on that globe? We play with this a lot in Chronicle, having him dance with the nightmares and collect art and stuff he's built. People in pain often express themselves through art. Pitch has a lot of pain to express. And it probably compounded his pain that no one cared to connect to him through his art.
Thank you, Anon~ We love getting to talk about dancing Pitch 😂

Two questions for ya: What do you use for drawing and what canvas size r u using to make ur comics? I've been trying to make comics for a lil bit now but every art program and canvas I try to use theres always something off for me and I keep getting frustrated, any tips?
I use clip studio paint and a wacom intuos pro tablet that I got as a christmas present when i was like. 13 or 14 or something. I've had it for years and replaced once, and before that I got a cheap 40 dollar one to prove to my mom that I was serious about digital art before she'd buy a REALLY expensive one.
I wouldn't advise you to get a wacom tablet tho tbh, the port kept breaking and i eventually had to DIY a solution cause my warranty ran out and they wouldnt replace it anymore (DIY = buying a portable battery charger and an extra battery so I'd always have one ready to go)
as for my canvas sizes, idk. I kind of pick random comic page sizes. well, ok, not random, but i don't have like a go to size. if you look at some of my files they're shit like 1465 x 2342 or something.
generally i keep it in the 1000 to 3000 pixel range (except for Loose Stitches, which i make in the exact size webtoon demands because I can't be fucked to scale it down sfddsf) but the actual size as in SHAPE of the page depends on my presketches and the vibe im going for.
i dont have any tips on canvas's feeling weird, im most comfortable in clip studio paint cause i stuck with it longest (and it was fairly easy to learn i think) but to be honest some people just dont vibe with digital art. idk.
the planning phase goes way faster if i do it physically. something about sketching digitally just stalls out my brain, so i dont even bother. idk if that your issue but, yeah.

(RIZ AHMED + CISMAN + HE / HIM ) ⸻ meet RAYAN RAFIQ. the owner at glen ellen's drive-in movie theater is glen ellen's very own DEADPAN SNARKER, who has been in town for his whole life. while they are only thirty nine, they can be very UNNERVING but if their friends mentioned them, you'd think they were more ZEALOUS. in a town where everyone knows everyone, it's hard to keep a secret, but i think the killer knows that [ REDACTED ] and it's bound to get out sometime soon.
basics:
traits: impulsive, obsessive, forgetful, curious, dedicated, loyal, passionate, humble, poor planner, impatient, reckless, sarcastic, moralistic, accepting, cynical, selfish.
relationship status: single.
sexuality: bi-curious.
religion: sunni muslim
date of birth: february 1st.
zodiac sign: an aquarius.
skills & hobbies: watching movies, diy home improvement, sarcasm, slasher films, strategy board games, gambling (he should really quit), cooking/baking.
dislikes & fears: monopoly, math, losing his drive-in theater, accounting/financing/budgeting.
quirks: prefers to be with optimistic people, otherwise he gets too bummed out. does not drink very often - maybe 1-2 times a year, if that. TOTAL film geek - loves movies, always references movies, has seen every movie.
residence: bachelor pad studio apartment somewhere in town.
pets: a couple of beta fish, yin & yang.
family: he has aunts & uncles & cousins & other relations spread out over the us, the uk, and the middle east. only his mother is local, and still living. his twin sister has 2 sons, and they lives in london with her husband.
backstory:
born one half of a whole, rayan && his twin were 2nd generation immigrants born && raised right in glen ellen. unlike his sister, who left across the pond london-bound the moment they turned 18, rayan remained and holds a strong love for the town in his heart, despite it's tragedies.
his biggest secret vice was horror movies && horror comics at an early age - forbidden in his household, he went to friends houses && stayed up, peering around corners to indulge every chance he got.
it turned into a fullblown movie addiction, one that could not be tamed. he barely graduated highschool, and it was somewhere between 16-18 that his parents gave up trying to control him, and let him be the eccentric guy that he was meant to be.
while his sister was getting married, having her first child, and progressing in her career overseas, rayan was working at the movie rental store, delivering pizza, and mostly still living at home. it worked out, as he was able to care for his elderly father as his health worsened.
five years ago, rayan snapped - it came along with the death of his father, and the birth of his 2nd nephew, his sister now a happy mother of two. he bought the run-down, dilapidated drive-in theater and decided to restore it, make it a shining gem again.
it took two years, and all his cash and his time, but rayan did it. the drive-in had it's official opening three years ago, and has been going strong since then, and is basically his entire life. he practically lives there; and maintains it almost completely on his own, having learned construction, electrical, and plumbing from youtube mostly.
there is always something going wrong, though, he really isn't all that good at diy.
wanted connections:
to be added too...
will they / won't they connection
friends/other locals he's friendly with
those who helped him restore the drive-in when he bought & renovated it
his staff
fellow movie buffs / movie geeks
his accountant

November Log
This month I finally got to finish my square(ish) sketchbook. Stared a new one. Thinking of going back to drawing more studies as well.
At the beginning of November, time was of essence in finishing drawing on the four pillars that help keep the Politechnical University Library of Timișoara standing. I was invited by Campus Creativ UPT to make an intervention on the pillars, marking the end of their 2023 project. I tried to approach the campus (which is the oldest campus in town, celebrating 100 years from its first building this year), from two different directions: one in which it is the sum of all buildings, bricks, concrete, wood, installation, pluming, trees and benches, and one that is made out of the people who inhabit them. On the pillar's I compiled the campus residents' first ever drawings, as a homage to the first creation of the physical campus being built a century ago.
Between drawing sessions outside, I walked through the town to paste the Timișoara part of the comics for my project for Simultan's exhibition. So glad I managed to finish this on time, since it was a very complex project to work on. I was slowly preparing for the show's opening on the 16th.
Roger invited me to submit on of my dreams in their Dream Journal, in comic form. This is my submission, it's a dream about a recurring horror house that I keep progressing further down into, with each dream that finds myself there. II chose this one as an excuse to draw the polly pockets that I had to build in order to find the code to escape the area that I was stuck in.
Livia brought the mug that I drew on on Gruni's 4th year birthday ceramics painting workshop. Couldn't be happier with how the lines turned out.
On the weekend of the 17th, the Work Academy opened, a show that is part of Progress: Paradigm Shifts #5, organised by Simultan, curated by Ștefan Tiron and Arne Hendriks. The project provided me with the opportunity to explore installations for the first time. I was stoked to share the exhibition hall with other great local artists such as the guys from Kosmos DIY and their miniature exhibition boxes, Vlad Cadar and his raft and with C4Company's punk improvised set.
Before the month ended, the annual Balamuc Studio Fair took place. This year, Gavril and I joined Ana, Livia and Răzvan as permanent studio members.

Fr., 2.2.2024, 21:00 Uhr: MINT MIND (HH) + KNUD VOSS (HH) Komet Musik Bar, Hamburg
MINT MIND
"Heavy music for nerdy people", that's how someone once described the music of Mint Mind. "For" or "from"? Both, of course. After the first "VG+" songs, you get a feeling of what the world of Mint Mind looks like: instruments and amplifiers from several decades loosely piled and organized. In front of, next to and between are synthesizers and effects, some as big as microwave ovens. On the crooked record shelf are handfuls of comics, albums by New Order, Devo, the B52s, almost the entire SST catalog, as well as Krautrock classics by Can and Faust. "VG+", Mint Mind's third album, has become a great, cross-generational indie rock album. Mint Mind are sitting in the Upper Room Studio, a separate area of Rick McPhail's small industrial loft in Hamburg-Altona. This is where the new Mint Mind album VG+ was created. Rick, who grew up in Maine, USA, looks to his fellow musicians. They are a little younger than him. Christian Klindworth (Fluppe) is 40, Friedel Viegener is 22. Rick grins and says, "I'm a polite and cheerful person but I need moments to vent and that's what I do in my music. I usually get angry about the same things as young people. A lot of the things that suck today sucked in the 80s and it wasn't easier to fight them back then.” The album is about anger, optimism, a politician with little fingers or influencers who secretly lead a normal life. Some lyrics are funny, others serious: "Glow" is about love and appreciating good moments in difficult times. "Youth And I" deals with the question of why different generations with the same ideas on topics such as the environment, women's and LGBTQIA+ rights or even the economy do not manage to form a unity, but instead allow themselves to be disturbed by something as silly as age differences. The sound of Mint Mind combines sweet and sour, fuzzy riffs with the freedom and sentiment of 80’s post-punk/indie. Synthesizers have become a more central instrument this time. From playful and strange sounds to the eerie and dark, the album is littered with textures and ear candy to discover. The album title is well chosen. "VG+" is taken from the Goldmine Grading Standard for the evaluation of used vinyl records and means "Very Good +" - background noise can occur occasionally, but not always. Older folks might certainly feel reminded of Dinosaur Jr. or The Cure, the younger ones of Diiv, Wavves or Gurr. And for a moment, the world is Very Good + (with background noise) for everyone. Speaking of background noise: When Rick is not swinging his self-made Lego guitar at Mint Mind, he takes care of the technic, roadies and lead guitar in Tocotronic or spins records. In the Hamburger bar Mutter he plays Album/Adult Oriented Rock under the motto "AOR-Alles Klar?". He moderates the songs and with a telephone receiver converted to a microphone the guests can also make requests. As the morning dawns over Hamburg, Rick packs up his Billy Joel, Chicago and Steely Dan albums, grabs his skateboard and rides back to his studio with the rising sun at his back.
KNUD VOSS

Laughs and Listings: The Hilarious World of Real Estate
In the serious and competitive world of real estate, there's always room for a good laugh. From quirky client interactions to bizarre property descriptions, the industry is no stranger to humorous moments. Real estate professionals and social media enthusiasts have taken full advantage of these opportunities to share their funny experiences through witty quotes and entertaining posts. In this article, we dive into the amusing side of real estate with funny real estate quotes, posts, and Facebook gems that are sure to put a smile on your face.
1. Funny Real Estate Quotes
Real estate agents have a knack for finding humor in their daily dealings, and some of the best laughs come from their own mouths. Here are some classic funny real estate quotes that have tickled the industry:
"I sell houses like our politicians sell promises—lots of enthusiasm and very little truth."
"Being a real estate agent is easy. It's like riding a bike. Except the bike is on fire. And you're on fire. And everything's on fire. And you're in hell."
"I don't always close deals, but when I do, I'm still waiting for the commission check to clear."
2. Funny Real Estate Posts
Social media platforms have become a playground for real estate agents to showcase their sense of humor and creativity. From funny property listings to bizarre house-hunting experiences, these posts have gained popularity for their entertainment value. Here are some examples of funny real estate posts:
The "Fixer-Upper" Gem: An agent posts a picture of a dilapidated house with the caption, "Calling all DIY enthusiasts! This 'fixer-upper' has so much potential, it only needs a small loan of a million dollars and a magic wand!"
The "Creative" Description: A witty agent lists a tiny studio apartment as a "cozy mansion for one" and emphasizes its "vertical living" opportunities.
The "House Hunting Pet Peeves": An agent shares a hilarious comic strip of house hunters discovering strange and quirky features in potential homes, like bathtubs in the middle of the kitchen or toilets without walls for the ultimate open-concept experience.
3. Funny Real Estate Facebook Posts
Facebook has become a goldmine for sharing funny real estate content, and real estate agents have become masters at capturing their audience's attention with humor. Here are some funny real estate Facebook posts that have gone viral:
The "Homebuyer's Dream or Nightmare?" Poll: An agent posts a picture of a house with a beautiful facade but an utterly chaotic interior. They ask their followers to vote: "Dream home or haunted house?"
The "Which Room Are You?" Quiz: An imaginative agent creates a fun quiz where followers answer personality questions to find out which room in a house best represents them (e.g., "Are you more of a living room or a kitchen?").
The "Caption This Photo" Contest: An agent shares a funny and awkward photo from a property showing and asks their audience to come up with the most creative captions.
Real estate funny posts
Humor is a powerful tool that not only entertains but also fosters connections between real estate agents and their audience. It adds a human touch to an industry often perceived as overly professional and uptight.
the world of real estate doesn't always have to be serious and business-oriented. Funny real estate quotes, posts, and Facebook content remind us that laughter is universal and that the human element prevails even in the most transactional of industries. So, the next time you stumble upon a funny real estate post or quote, be sure to share the laughter and spread the joy!

GREAT BALL OF FIRE!
Lucille Ball and the Fire Department
Where there’s smoke - there’s Lucy! Lucy’s encounters with the fire department are legendary - even becoming a volunteer firefighter on “The Lucy Show.”
“I Love Lucy” wouldn’t have been possible without the cooperation of the Los Angeles Fire Department, who helped bring the studio up to code for filming when live audiences were introduced to the mix. Previously, audiences were not permitted on film sets due to fire codes. Ironically, the show’s sponsor was a cigarette company, at a time when smoking indoors was commonplace.
In “Be A Pal” (1951), Lucy sets fire to Ricky’s newspaper to get his attention! Considering all the trouble and cost Desi had to assure the studio audience’s safety for the Los Angels Fire Department, it is amazing this gag was allowed!
“Fred and Ethel Fight” (1952) ~ When Fred and Ethel patch things up, Lucy and Ricky start feuding, leading to Lucy to pretend to be hit by a bus and Ricky to stage a fire in the apartment to test each other’s affection. Ricky and Fred use a toy siren and a beekeepers smoker to convince Lucy the building’s ablaze.
Moments from the episode, including the aftermath of the ‘fire’ were recreated for the 2021 film Being the Ricardos.
In “The Marriage License” (1953), one of the many hats worn by Mr. Willoughby (Irving Bacon) is fireman, presumably of the Connecticut town of Greenwich where the scene is set. Mr. Willoughby mistakes Lucy’s red hair for the flames of a fire. His helmet says “Engine 1″.
In "Too Many Crooks" (1953), suspecting Lucy to be Madam X, Fred and Ethel spy on her from the fire escape. Fire escapes were common features of New York City apartment buildings, a series of metal ladders allowing residents to get out of the building in case of a fire. They were most famously represented in the musical West Side Story.
A running plot point of the first season of “The Lucy Show” (1963) has Lucy and Viv recruiting their friends to serve as the Danfield Volunteer Fire Department. Naturally, Lucy serves as Captain.
Six weeks earlier, in “Lucy Puts Up a TV Antenna” (1962), two firemen help Lucy and Viv off the roof when their DIY installation of a TV aerial goes wrong. Chuck Roberson and Hubie Kerns play the firemen.
Lucy is dismayed that nearby towns have a fire department, while Danfield has none. In “Lucy and Viv are Volunteer Fireman” (1963), the first episode to begin the plotline, Lucy writes to her congressman about the situation.
Dear Senator Dodds;
I feel it is my duty to point out an alarming situation which exists here in Danfield. Because of re-zoning in the county our fire department has been transferred to Ridgebury many, many miles away. As a result, in case of a fire, defenseless women and little children will be left helpless to face a flaming inferno. Until this outrageous condition is rectified, the least you can do for Danfield is to create a volunteer fire department.
Yours very truly,
Lucille Carmichael
PS: I plan to vote for you in the next election. That is, if the polling place hasn’t burned down.
In response to their letter, they are visited by Captain Metcalf (Patrick McVey) of the Ridgebury Fired Department.
Jerry and Sherman are appointed Junior Firemen. This is a real-life program for youth run by most American and British fire departments to encourage home safety in fire prevention. Talking about the potential for a fire, Lucy says she doesn’t want to be known as one of the “Last of the Red Hot Mamas.”
The episode uses a fire pole and a Moreland fire truck. Both are employed for comic effect.
Lucy and Viv rehearse putting on their fire fighter uniforms, calmly timing themselves as they do. When a real fire alarm sounds, the moment is comically chaotic.
When Metcalf is training the women at the old firehouse, there is a Smokey Bear Forest Fire Prevention poster behind him. This particular design was first issued in 1953.
Captain Metcalf claims that the reason the Danfield volunteer fire brigade will consist of all females is because so many men commute to New York, further reinforcing that fictional Danfield is a bedroom community of Manhattan.
In connection with this episode, Lucille Ball and Vivian Vance were made honorary fire chiefs of the Los Angeles Fire Department. They were photographed wearing official white helmets with Henri O'Bryant, vice president of the Fire Commission, Fred Kline, commission president, and LA Fire Chief William L. Miller.
Because the episode was shot out of order, the fire fighter plotline is not mentioned in the next two episodes, but resumes in “Lucy’s Barbershop Quartet” (1962). Since all the members of the group are members of the Danfield Volunteer Fire Brigade, the quartet is named The Four Alarms.
Again, the storyline is put on the back burner for two episodes, until “Lucy Drives a Dump Truck” (1963). After promising the Volunteer Fire Department that the town council will pay for their new uniforms, the girls find that they will be stuck for the cost themselves. They want to relieve Lucy as captain, until she comes up with the idea of selling newspapers for salvage.
In addition to Lucy and Viv, the members of the Danfield Volunteer Fire Department are: Thelma Green (Carole Cook), Audrey Simmons (Mary Jane Croft), Dorothy Boyer (Ruth Crews, later Dorothy Konrad), Babette Edwards (Karen Norris), Frances (Mary Wickes), Colleen (Renita Reachi), Pauline Lopus, Grace, as well as background performers Bess Flowers and Hazel Pierce.
The next time we hear about the volunteer fire department, the show is being filmed (but not initially aired) in color! “Lucy Plays Cleopatra” (1963). The women recruite acting coach Professor Gitterman (Hans Conried) to help them stage the production.
“Lucy and Viv Play Softball” (1963) ~ Lucy and Viv are usually bench warmers when the Danfield Volunteer Fire Department plays softball, but a member’s preganancy lands them on the field.
"Lucy Puts Out a Fire at the Bank” (1963) ~ When the town council refuses to fund the Danfield Volunteer Fire Department, Lucy takes her brigade for some training to impress Mr. Mooney, then sets a small fire at the bank to demonstrate their worth! Mr. Mooney wants Danfield to be served by New Rochelle's Fire Department. In previous episodes they were served by Ridgebury.
The Danfield Volunteer Fire Department has a service record of:
43 cat rescues; 12 of them of the same cat.
8 clogged up chimney flues unclogged.
16 piles of burning leaves were extinguished.
1 lawsuit against the city for water damage at the Armenian restaurant for an incident surrounding flaming shish-kabob on a sword.
Their training is led by Captain Burke (Alan Hale Jr.). This is the final episode of the fire brigade plotline, ending a year after it is introduced.
In “Lucy the Coin Collector” (1964), Lucy and Viv stand on the street in front of a bright yellow fire hydrant. Along with the mailbox, the fire hydrant was a standard set dressing for scenes taking place on city streets.
In “Lucy the Disc Jockey” (1965), the last episode set in Danfield, Lucy uses a fire extinguisher when the control board explodes. The radio station is covered in foam for the rest of the episode. The moment was included in the show’s opening montage.
“Lucy Makes a Few Extra Dollars” (1971) ~ Lucy Carter breaks out a fire extinguisher when Harry sets a fire in the office waste basket.
Larry J. Blake plays the fireman who comes to extinguish the trash can blaze.
“Lucy’s Punctured Romance” (1972) ~ Lucy burns the roast causing the fire department to smash the front door glass. Larry J. Blake returns as the Fire Cheif (wearing the same uniform), joined by Orwin C. Harvey and Sid Gould.
