My meal worm farm setup (for chicken treats). Super easy, takes a few minutes of maintenance in the morning and a slightly more involved one every few months (still only takes a hour).

Has a drawer for pupae, one for beetles, and the rest for various stages of meal worms plus one extra to sift frass (poop) into. Other equipment is a stainless steel colander for sifting and a plastic spoon for transferring pupae and beetles to their new drawers.

I use either bread crumbs or rolled oats for bedding/dry food and carrots or cabbage leaves for moist food. Sometimes they get other stuff, but that's mostly it. Started by ordering a 5000ct pkg by mail and fed out at least half of that while the cycle got started.

The chickens get a "happy hour" on Fridays where they get a half handful of adult worms. They also get all the debris and any dead beetles (crunchy!) when I do the major maintenance.

I keep this setup in what functions as a mudroom for me because it's right next to the kitchen (I do the daily maintenance while waiting for the breakfast skillet to heat) and also so that I don't have to hear them constantly. It's a pretty loud dry rustling/chewing sound--okay periodically but continuously would drive me batty.

In addition to chicken treats, I also get significant amounts of frass:

Frass is an excellent plant fertilizer, like most manures. High in nitrogen. I use it in my soil mixes and sprinkle it into the containers that I grow peppermint in to help with leaf production.

Anyway, was just starting on my big maintenance (which is why there's so many worms in the beetle drawer and very little bedding) and thought I'd share.

ROSANA! The Origin Story Anthology will explore the beginnings of Rosana’s adventure, which starts when her island receives a visit from a mysterious pilot, the first outsider in decades. The story is set in a post-apocalyptic future where very few people remain on Earth after the most successful fleet of space colonists left twenty years ago. Their departure was supposed to allow Earth to restore and replenish its ecosystems, but something has gone wrong – and Rosana will soon find out about the space organisation’s nefarious plans for their surviving islands.

Issues #1-4 will introduce us to Rosana, her superpowers, her family and her first encounter with the International Space Organisation - and someone on the inside might hold the key to her origins.

Happy Art Monday, but most importantly, Happy Pride Month! 🌈✨

Here they are! I'm thrilled to share my latest artwork, "Proud Ships," which celebrates the diversity and beauty of the LGBTQIA+ community. This piece features a fleet of colorful boats, each with sails representing various pride flags, navigating together in harmony. This is my largest canvas to date.

Before even knowing I belonged to this ever-growing community, I was raised with values such as inclusivity, acceptance, and empathy. Growing up, I thought I was just an ally until one day I discovered that one of those flags was actually part of my identity. Now, with the increasing number of flags, I realize there are several I can proudly wave.

So, I wanted to work on something special for Pride Month. It's one of the few times I focused on a theme rather than a character or a scene, and for me, this fight is important. I firmly believe that "love always triumphs" and that we can all work hand in hand to make the world even better. It will take time, but we are sailing in the right direction.

What I wanted to emphasize in this drawing is that we are all in relationships in our lives—whether friends, lovers, coworkers. As the word "relationship" contains "ship," we can say we are all in the same boat. All these boats don't need to sail side by side, but we all live together, so we have the right to be who we truly are without hiding our true colors. We have the right, as human beings, no matter our flag(s), to be proud.

Unfortunately, I couldn't represent all the flags, as new ones emerge every day, and my computer wouldn't have had enough power to represent them all. I faced some difficulties due to the size of this artwork, which caused my program to crash several times. However, I made sure to include the most well-known flags and others that are less known but identify people around me. If your flag is not included here, know that it is purely due to material constraints and lack of time.

I also want to take the time to thank you all for your support, no matter who you are, and remember, life is better with colors! 🎨🏳️‍🌈❤️✨

I really want to start consuming more art, and since I don't want to slog through some funky anime I think I'm going to pick up more manga this year.

I already got through hell's paradise (jigokuraku for when I go to look it up again later) which was an incredibly refreshing read because the entire plot is that a dude just wants to get home to his wife because he loves her so much. Respect to gabimaru. I will not read berserk again yet, and I want to reread hunterxhunter before I check out the new chapters (I love the current arc, there is so much happening). I don't particularly want to read fullmetal alchemist only because I preferred 2003 & I know brotherhood is a fairly faithful adaptation. I read RGU and prefer the anime and movie because they're objectively better, but it helped me understand the black rose saga better. I think I might try and read one piece next but am hesitant because I don't like the art style, especially regarding the women, but my s/o loves one piece and I think it would be funny if I read it so we could talk about it more
