As a neurodivergent person, what is the worst sensory hell you can think of?

For me it's getting my teeth drilled for a cavity and elementary school band concerts

I can speak normally now because god healed my voice. I was in the bathtub last night just coughing out the plehgmg because my body makes alot of it for some reason (probally musuclar disphonia related) and he was just like "Yo Yo Yo massage the lower part of your throat" because I tend to just do my middle and top part and I didnt and like 53% of my voice and abulity to speak opened up and I felt air in all of my throat for the first time in so long and it was the same togday after massaging spitting out or swalloing and drinking water. i was able to properly sing while at work it was so awsome!

Este libro me ha servido para revisar mi conocimiento sobre la anatomia del aparato respiratorio que tan bien explicó el professor Dr. Reig y las clases de la logopeda Annalies Labaere en la Universidad Thomas More/KU Leuven (Bélgica) y como de efectiva podia ser la Manual Laryngeal Therapy (MLT) y el uso del International Classification of Functioning (ICF) para diagnosticar y tratar pacientes.

i think i only once brought it up ages ago and very briefly so here's a bit more of my thought process

mostly i’m obsessed with "silent boy" quote because it's just so intentional. there's no way you'd casually describe someone like this. especially skull. then there's whole whispering skull thing. yes, the easy explanation would be silver-glass jar blocks of the sound, but that's not how whisper works. whisper is a deliberate way of voice alteration (or a result of sickness), not a sound quality. then we have skull's ghost description of being barefoot. then you remember what he was doing for years under bickerstaff and that ghosts radiate cold. my man got laryngitis and no one cared for wellbeing of a servant boy. so his vocal cords got damaged and later he came to bad end with no recall what his healthy voice would sound like in the afterlife.

at the very least it's my interpretation.

and since i'm a try hard and went on research of my own, that condition is called disphonia or aphonia, depending on vocal attitude. but i'm mostly leaning towards aphonia aka total voice loss based on organic disorder in aus where skull would be brought back to life (aka the doodle there).

another interesting thing is how (in early days skull's case) disphonia affects how child socializes and behaves. gestures and facial expressions become the main way of communicating when it's painful to talk or voice is simply too weak (sounds familiar, ay?), and in behavior patterns those kids become more pessimistic, irritable and irascible, not to mention poorer ability to make friends.

honesty it's really easy for me to picture young boy being so brainwashed and manipulated by this Man, who promises the impossible, promised to get a glimpse of heaven to all his followers, enlightenment they, scared crowd, wished to have. and this boy was the most loyal of them all. he didn't care what would happen to him, as long as his Master was leading him, whether its sickness or death itself, as long as Master is there and he needs boy's presence, that's all that there is in the world.

and also bickerstaff was a psych doctor, not the medical one, so of course he wouldn't bother healing his servant, maybe he didn't even notice that boy was losing his voice. dulac seemed to notice since she wrote about it. but that's it. i also like to think that no one cared or knew little servant's name because why would those rich and crazy people, so eventually skull's name was just forgotten even by himself, as he put himself on second if not lesser place. he'd make a great magician but that's another talk, i still have bsl to learn about and make such a painfully specific au that only i will enjoy

i have a very specific headcanon (that is also deeply rooted in canon) of skull losing his voice if he was revived somehow. the irony would intensify if lucy were to be his bsl interpreter

Went to the ear nose and throat doctor again for my muscular disphonia and he said that I’m talking better its just my voice is is inflames from being sick and coughing so I’m getting steriods 👍🏼

The funny thing is when he gave me the numbing spray it didn’t fully kick in until after he was done so I almost felt the whole thing in my nose
