They are on a trip, in a garden.

Sirius and Regulus are in their Animagus form, James aka Dad is the sun because Regulus always calls him the sun.

And yes, Remus uses a cane.

Sirius loved his job. He loved working with tiny humans. He loved being one of the people who introduced them to the world outside their home. To show them nature, read stories, and chat with them while they drew scribbly pictures.

The plan had been for him to go into politics, like his father, and grandfather. And great grandfathers, back further than he cared to think about. But even Orion Black couldn’t get on board with his gay son inheriting his seat in the House of Lords. So they swiftly moved onto the spare, until they pushed him to rebellion too. According to the last email, Regulus was running a vineyard in France and was stunningly happy, which made Sirius happy in turn.

Each year he got kids from all walks of life. Kids with two moms, disabled kids, kids in care, kids with more energy than they knew what to do with, kids whose passions were adorably wild for four-year-olds, like cooking or cricket. His godson had just started in his class and was proving to be a handful, as he knew he would be. Any child that was half James Potter and half Lily Evans, with a healthy dose of Sirius’ influence could be nothing less.

But when he got word that he had a student starting the school year a month late, he mentally assigned Harry as his buddy. Within minutes of having Teddy Lupin in his class, he knew it was a good decision.

He’d been in a meeting when Teddy arrived. He’d meant to have a chat with Teddy’s parent. Dad, he seemed to remember the paperwork saying, with a name almost as ridiculous as his own. Roman? Something like that. He’d have to catch him at the end of the day. His teaching assistant, Dorcas told him that the dad seemed as nervous as Teddy, but that he was cute and sarcastic. If she said that with a pointed look at him, he pretended not to notice.

Teddy let Harry show him around the classroom, the reading nook, the ‘pretend area’ that was set up as a cafe this week, the toy cupboard and finally their table. Teddy asked lots of questions and Sirius took this as a good sign. Better he ask than feel like he couldn’t.

Once the class was settled, working on drawing their house and family, Sirius crouched next to Teddy’s desk.

“How’re you getting on, Teddy?” He said quietly.

“Good, I think.” He stuck his tongue between his teeth as he concentrated on drawing. “I only have to draw me and my dad.”

“That’s not fair!” Ron moaned from the other side of the table. “I think I need more Paper!”

Sirius chuckled, “But think how much your mum and dad will love this drawing, with all of you on it!” He’d taught Ron’s twin brothers a couple of years ago, and he knew for a fact that they had not produced any pictures like this for their family, so it would be a nice change of pace for them. He turned back to Teddy, “If you need help or anything at all, just let me know. There are no stupid questions, ok?” Teddy nodded, not looking away from his drawing.

Teddy was the last to collect his belongings at the end of the day, and Sirius helped him put his water bottle into his tiny backpack before they headed for the door. “Oh, wait! Your lovely drawing!” Sirius grabbed it off his desk. “I bet your dad is going to love this!”

“He does drawing. For a job!” Teddy shared, gleefully. “I want to do that.”

“Well based on today’s artwork, I think you’d be a fantastic artist!” He smiled down at Teddy, who beamed up at him. “Come on, let’s go find your dad.”

Teddy’s Dad, who Dorcas was, annoyingly, definitely not wrong about, was waiting on the playground alone, looking nervously at the door. He visibly sighed in relief when he saw them and walked towards them.

“Dad!” Teddy ran towards him and was swept up into a hug. “Dad! I did art!”

“You did?” Teddy’s dad asked earnestly. “Can I see it?” Sirius held out the drawing, which he took and examined. He crouched next to his son. “You drew the new house. Wow! That’s so much detail, Teds. This is amazing. We’re going to put this on the wall in the kitchen!”

Teddy grinned at his dad, and then back at Sirius. “Thank you for Today.”

Sirius’ heart melted a little bit, “Thank you, Teddy! Can’t wait to see you tomorrow.”

“Why don’t you go and play on the swings for a minute, while I have a quick chat with Mr…”

“Black.” Sirius supplied, “Sirius.”

Remus nodded as Teddy ran to the tiny swings on the playing field. “Was he alright? No trouble?”

“No trouble at all, he’s a good kid.” Sirius smiled, “His art skills are so advanced for his age. I honestly wouldn’t blink if you told me a ten-year-old drew this. Must be genetic.”

“Ah, he’s been bragging about me?” His cheeks flushed slightly and it was possibly the cutest thing that Sirius had ever seen.

“Yeah, seems he wants to follow in your footsteps.” Sirius paused, “I’m so sorry, I didn’t ask your name.”

“Remus. Lupin.” Remus. That was it. Remus’ cheeks grew pinker. “Well, thank you. I was so nervous about him starting late. He’s my world, but we had to move back. My mum.” Sirius understood. “But it seems he’s... in good hands.” A slight smirk teased the corners of Remus’ mouth.

Sirius had plenty of single mums flirt with him over the years, but this was new. “I’ll tell you what, Remus. Why don’t I give you my number, just in case.” He dragged his eyes up Remus’ torso.

“Sounds good,” Remus said, breathlessly.

What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

Probably this one because of the point where it ends and where canon picks up (in fact one commenter asked me why I had done that lmao):

Definitely my jokes are my armour, my kindness is my sword. I wrote it at a time when I was raging at the lack of trans joy in fics and it was very important to me that this one ended full of hope and community.

Yes, though I always have to take a deep breath and be brave about it because I feel like it's so cringy aaaAaAa.

What's your all-time favorite ship?

Wolfstar ofc! But honestly I will try most ships once!

What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

Hmm, I wholeheartedly believe that I will finish my WIPs (yes even the ones I haven't updated in 5+ years), but I think your time will come will be hardest to finish. I associate it so strongly with a rock-bottom time in my life and every time I try and add to it, it feels like backsliding to that low low place. I feel terrible as I still get comments sometimes asking for an update, but one day! it won't hurt so much to write it. recovery is not linear etc. etc.

What are your writing strengths?

I think I'm good at writing emotions! Which makes sense since I'm a therapist irl hehe. I think I do a decent job of writing from different perspectives, though Remus is my favourite to write, my self-deprecating mopey king. And people were lovely about my imagery in my last fic!

What are your writing weaknesses?

I mostly write in a linear way which is really annoying and means I can get stuck for days just because I can't get one part right. I used to say action scenes because I always dreaded writing them, but I challenged myself in my latest fic and it actually worked out okay!! So maybe it just takes practice.

I have lots of scraps of fic that will probably never see the light of day because I think they're shit, so I guess being hard on myself about my writing too lol.

Time is my biggest enemy - I work 5 jobs and volunteer etc etc and I'm not good at making time for the things that are good for me (like writing).

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

Love love love it! I adore languages and speak several so I love to see another language thrown in there (even better if it's not just been run through Google Translate and was checked by a native)!!

What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?

Jegulus scares me a little bit because it's so polarising, but I expect I will write it at some point. Other fandoms... who knows? It takes a lot for something to capture me to the point that marauders/TAG has but inspiration strikes at the weirdest times so you never know.

What's your favorite fic you've written?

love finds a way!

I poured my entire heart and soul into this fic and it means the world to me. Honestly, writing it gave me a reason to dig my claws in and stay when things felt very dark last year. Dinosaurs are very much my special interest and it was such a privilege to be able to write my other special interest in this world. It has meant more than I can ever say to see this fic resonate with people, my heart is overflowing 💚💚

Deaf/Hard of hearing Black family (And a bit of the Tonks/Rosier/Malfoy/Lupin/Riddle family (Pretty much everyone in the family tree I could think of))

Note: I am not deaf but I am disabled so I am somewhat pulling from my experiences so, if I get anything wrong or am insensitive in anyway please please let me know

- Sirius was born hard of hearing but never got the support he needed in childhood

- He didn’t know and wasn’t taught sign language until he was older and could learn it by himself

- Regulus and Andromeda were the only ones to learn BSL (British sign language) with him (More so Reg than Andy because he lived with Sirius)

- Deafness runs in the Black family but most of them learn to live with it so they don’t seem “crippled” (Narcissa and Orion are the only ones that aren’t hard of hearing or deaf in the family)

- Regulus grew up hearing but midway though his years at hogwarts he started losing his hearing (Pandora pointed it out)

- This is one of the few times during their years at Hogwarts and after Sirius runs away, that Regulus comes to Sirius because “How can he be the perfect heir if he’s ‘defected’. ”

- They had a long conversation about how that didn’t determine his worth and he wasn’t ‘defected’ or anything of that sort

- In a They all live!AU Regulus would have been completely deaf by 30

- Luckily though, at the age of 15 Regulus has a close knit friend group and they’re all willing to learn sign language for him (He sucks at lip reading)

- Sirius also has incredibly close friend group and they all start to learn sign language for Sirius, even if it’s just common signs

- Sirius actually doesn’t tell his friends that he’s hard of hearing, James just picks it up 2nd yr and when asked Sirius tries to deny it but he sucks at lying to James

- After a bit they tell Peter and then Remus

- After Remus, Sirius finds it gets easier and easier to tell his friends and soon most (if not his whole) friend group knows

- Regulus on the other hand doesn’t tell anyone but Dorcas, Barty, Evan, Pandora and Sirius for a while. (James and Lily have to learn about it from Sirius)

- Andromeda is born completely deaf and it scares her mother half to death because it’s not often that the Black children are born that way

- Because of this she isn’t able to talk very clearly and struggles quite a lot

- Bellatrix, like Sirius is Born hard of hearing but her mother is a little more accepting of it and makes sure her daughters learn sign language

- So the girls grow up learning and knowing LSF (Langue des signes française/French sign language)

- They teach the brothers bits and pieces when they get the chance but Orion refuses to let them use it in the house

- Orion and Cyprus both don’t start becoming hard of hearing until they are teenagers and even then they never go completely deaf

- Walburga was born hard of hearing like Sirius and was considered a failure by her mother for this (she continued the cycle of this to Sirius)

- Alphard was not born completely deaf but is by the time he is a small child he is (His parents are reallyyy not happy about this)

- Because he went deaf after he began to talk he can talk mostly clearly, he does struggle a bit at times but it’s not normally noticeable

- However, he cannot speak English as he didn’t learn any before going deaf (French is his first language) and he only knows bsl after he moves out

- Tonks (Nymphadora) is born hard of hearing and grows up in a house that uses sign language

- Draco, like his mother is one of the few family members that are born hearing but he starts losing his hearing a bit earlier than most folks

- Teddy is also born hearing but grows up with Andromeda so they learn sign language as one of their first languages

- Scorpius was surprisingly born hard of hearing considering his mother, father and grandparents are not deaf or hard of hearing

- But not to worry, the family trauma is being healed and he grows up with a good support system and people who know sign language and use it with him

- Delphi and born hearing and doesn’t usually have any problems with her hearing until she’s a preteen

victoire - my victoire is a v different from fandom typical victoire nowadays and she is a sporty, quidditch-obsessed jock who lives and breathes for the sport. one of the best captains gryffindor has ever seen, gets scouted for five teams out of school, including two french teams, and chooses the holyhead harpies like her aunt ginny.

dominique - unspeakable researcher at the department of mysteries. dom is into arcane witchcraft, crystals, tarot, astrology, things like that, which everyone else thinks is silly, but she puts a lot of time and effort into researching it and her discoveries catch the attention of the dom who send her an offer letter out of the blue. nobody in her family knows exactly what she researches down there but it makes her very good money. eventually, i think, becomes the divination professor at hogwarts.

louis - one of the only two academically gifted weasleys, he goes into politics after his uncle percy, which you may claim makes him a nepo baby... and you'd be right. doesn't actually have ministerial ambitions, and works in public relations, eventually becoming press secretary for the minister after percy.

molly - investigative journalist for a leftwing paper called the legacy, founded by susan bones a couple years after the war. she didn't start out as that, though, but worked her way up from fluff pieces.

lucy - out of school she makes her money drag racing and bartending, but hard to say what she'll do after that. she's very reactive and doesn't put a lot of thought into her future.

fred - magical engineer, taking muggle things and reverse engineering them and making them better with magic. probably arthur's favorite grandchild because of it.

roxanne - magical ice dancer, quits hogwarts after her fourth year to pursue it professional in the wizarding olympics called the meteorics

rose - artist, she's very smart but in a completely different way than hermione, also dyslexic so doesn't love academia even though she would if she didn't have to deal with hogwarts being completely unfriendly to kids with learning disabilities. mostly works with painting but also does other types of art

hugo - another one that's hard to tell, mostly because like lucy, he gives the impression of not caring very much one way or the other. also like lucy, it is a false impression, he cares very much, and is also super smart, just hides it well. i think ultimately his girlfriend edie urquhart (pansy's daughter) will be the breadwinner of their house though

james - just like victoire, a born and bred quidditch fanatic who gets scouted out of hogwarts and (unlike her and most hogwarts recruits), gets placed on a starting position at the falmouth falcons (one of the best teams in the leagues) at age 18. nearly monumentally fucks up his quidditch career at age 21 though.

albus - magical hacker, ran a black market ring of illicit muggle tech goods in his time at hogwarts and also likes to amuse himself by dicking around the ministry of magic's fledgling magic internet systems. this eventually gets him scouted for the aurors, mostly against his will.

lily - magical photographer, ends up working at the scamanders' magical creature sanctuary and kind of accidentally winds up doing public relations for them via her photography

scorpius - future comic book artist, once he gets over his internal prejudice about muggle things and his refusal to admit he likes comic books and drawing. also future wizarding art professor at hogwarts i think

teddy - he's in a band with his best friends that accidentally gets very famous

lorcan & lysander - run the magical creatures sanctuary their parents helped set up

jake longbottom - auror like his godfather harry

hugo - becomes a bestselling romance novelist under a penname (to hide his famous connections), it's big news when his identity finally comes out.

james - fails to make it onto a professional quidditch team out of hogwarts (for reasons unrelated to his quidditch ability) so takes a job at the ministry sports department, which he loathes, so quits and does bar work for a bit instead, before he goes into lower league quidditch and makes his way up to international player.

albus - overcomes his anxieties to become a healer, eventually specialising in pediatrics, he's especially good with other anxious kids.

lily - drifts about for a while, works some retail, slowly develops her baking hobby into something professional and in the end sets up her own little patisserie.

scorpius - uses his skill with intricate, technical charms to go into magical invention, essentially creating magical tech, particularly (in the end) forensic technology.

iseult malfoy - quidditch player for the holyhead harpies, teaches flying at hogwarts after she retires.

caelum malfoy - currently in my fic he's approximately eighteen months old so i haven't thought of a career for him yet.

lysander - starts a magical co-operative living project with lorcan and a bunch of their friends/partners, where he takes charge of the practical side and spends his days growing vegetables, mending roofs and caring for animals and children.

lorcan - lives in the same community as lysander but is a poet, philospher and stargazer.

I find it hilarious that Sirius thinks James is 10/10 and Remus 1/10, but he started dating Remus anyway because James is too busy to chat

James and Peter got together because they both find each other super hot and I didn’t want to bring more sims into the house. Sirius and Remus are engaged and still find each other terribly unattractive

Remus also developed a smoking problem and will be grumpy for the next 15 days because I made him quit since he ran out of cigarettes and I got tired of him having to smoke one every two hours so the stress of not having smoked doesn't keep turning him into his wolf form

Remus turned Sirius into a werewolf and they finally got married. I didn’t think about their surnames at all, but managed to make Sirius a Lupin. Sirius got abducted by aliens in the middle of fucking Remus. James and Peter got engaged. I'm debating having a baby in the household

For some reason Peter has been running everywhere he goes for days now, and I don’t understand why. Also sadly Sirius got stuck in the tattoo chair so I had to quit without saving and he lost his crappy tattoos

Remus wanted a baby so I went okay. He couldn’t turn into a werewolf during the full moon due to being pregnant, so he pissed himself during Peter's birthday party instead. He then rode his fucking bicycle to give birth in the hospital, but at least they now have a baby boy

Sirius cried during James and Peter's wedding. James was pregnant and gave birth to a baby boy. Peter went through a midlife crisis and now has a silly moustache as well as a new expensive car, but I drew the line at divorcing James when they only just married

Sirius and Remus had a fight bc Peter flirted with Sirius who flirted back. Sirius tried asking Remus out but was turned down, so he yelled at Remus, who yelled back and then went to sulk for several hours. Sirius worked hard to appease him. Harry was hungry. James was working

James was supposed to read Harry a bedtime story, but he then needed to pee and left, so Harry got stuck in his bed. I waited for a full day to see if anything would get him to move but nothing did, so I had to quit without saving and can't remember what happened after I'd saved

I'm considering ditching this game soon anyway, it's no longer fun enough with so many sims in the same household, especially because James and Peter are already turning elderly, and I had forgotten how much I hate playing the elderly sims. I'll have to adjust the age settings

The game suddenly decided to reset all my settings yesterday. Fun. I had forgotten that celebrities are a thing so I didn’t disable them, so Remus turned into a celebrity, which is very annoying. But yeah, he's now a 1-star celebrity author. I will take that away from him, though

Luckily I had forgotten to save after James turned old, so after tweaking the age settings, I can keep going with this game for a while yet. Couldn't figure out how to remove Remus’s celebrity status for some reason, so we'll see how that goes

God damn it, the game decided to age James anyway because it was the day of his birthday already. Not sure if I'll de-age him or just wait for him to get to the end of his life

Nooooo fuck you, why is the celebrity status still contagious after I turned it off! Does it not affect the game I'm already playing? Ugh I hate this!

Sirius has started to think that Remus is a 10/10 hottie. I suspect that this sudden change of heart has something to do with Remus’s 2-star celebrity rating. Meanwhile, Teddy went to the prom with his only friend and they're now boyfriends

Remus and Sirius had their anniversary and went on an elaborate date. That night, James passed away. Peter immediately wished to resurrect him but also to have a stag do. I suppose we all grieve in our own ways. Harry has been learning hacking, and Teddy wants to nick something

I have no idea what happened, but some interaction with either Sirius or Teddy made Remus all sulky and he wanted to hide in his room to contemplate the meaninglessness of life. This wasn't funny, I just thought it was cute. Then Sirius wanted to grow a beard, so he now has one

Oh, speaking of Sirius and his wishes, during his midlife crisis, he wished for a new $10k+ car twice, so he got a new car and then got another new car. He really is rich (I mean, the whole family's rich, they have a 3-car garage (James used to get around in his cop car))

Oh, I made Remus tell Sirius a secret and his secret was "I'm glad we'll be together forever." ���

In less cute news, Teddy was in a bad mood so he skipped school to have a date, but his bf wasn't into any romantic stuff so Teddy broke up with him. On top of that, he came home too early, so Sirius got angry with him for skipping school

Lol rereading this like what the hell. "Wasn't into any romantic stuff" = he was reacting to it negatively for some reason. Anyway, Teddy and Harry are now dating, we'll see if that lasts once Teddy grows up

You know what, I'll tell you the story of wolfstar's first kiss and how they ended up being a couple. Sirius was (and still is) an alchemist, and after messing up a potion, he turned into a frog. He was friends with James only, but James was busy right then, while Remus was free

So, Sirius went to talk to Remus until they were friends, and then Remus kissed him to turn him human again. And that was their first kiss, and that’s how they fell in love, even though they both found each other unattractive

So, Peter set off some fireworks. Cool, except he did it in their hallway and set it on fire, then went to faint on the porch. Later the same day, he set off more fireworks (this time outside) and set their lawn on fire. He's banned from handling fireworks

Teddy grew up, and the game decided that you know what, his breakup with his first boyfriend wasn't a proper breakup, so he now has two boyfriends. In other Teddy related news, Remus wishes that he'll become a doctor

Teddy went on a date with his first bf and confessed to cheating on him, so they had a fight and broke up for real. Which might be good because turns out the bf is malicious, which conflicts with Teddy being nice

Sirius tells a secret to Remus: "I find the hiccups fun!"

Remus and Sirius went on a date. They visited a haunted house, and Remus was so terrified that he pissed himself. Because he's a celebrity, the whole fucking town now knows about it and he's ashamed 😔

Talking about children of werewolves in the potter world and my headcanons

Each child is different but if the mother is a werewolf it’s much worse then if the father is.

Both Teddy Lupin and Nicky Lee are half werewolves. Nicky has worst symptoms due to the fact his mother, Chiara is a werewolf vs Teddy who’s father, Remus was a werewolf. The week leading up to the full moon both get ‘Wolf Period’ which is basically all of mood swings, cramps, body aches, bloating and so on of a period x1000 minus the blood. Plus Teddy gets uncontrollable morphing which is very painful. Nicky is also disability, he has cerebral palsy and has issues with his eyes. Full moons occasionally gives Nicky seizures. it’s pretty scary when it happens but his friends, Hadas, James, Theo, and Axel help him though it. During his first full moon at school Teddy fought through his own pain to help Nicky though it and though a seizure.

Nicky is also super hairy, like had to start shaving at like 12. He has to shave everyday because it grows back so fast. Teddy doesn’t have this probably as much but he still needs to shave a lot
