Do you also have favorite fics by fandom favorite authors but that are not the authors most known/popular fic? I just noticed I have that for nearly every one :D Lettered? The Fall of the Veils. Tepre? Trouble, My Old Friend. Tackytiger? A Lick and a Promise. Firethesound? What Dreams May Come etcetc This is not to say that the popular ones are not incredible (!!) as well but its like my own particular interests/charactersation/tropes are usually catered to in the "lesser known" fics

I definitely have, and I think many people feel like that! Sometimes niche fics can feel very personal as if they were especially written for us, which is not to say that popular fics are not fantastic (after all, they’re popular for a reason). I’m all for reccing lesser known fics, especially written by prolific authors that usually get recced by the same story over and over 🙌 I’m listing below my favorites lesser knows fics by the authors mentioned, plus a few additions of my own. I am. not sure if you're saying that all the fics I recommended are fandom classics (they weren't!), or if this is pointing out what I tried to do, which is highlight more underrated fics.

Yes there were some absolute monsters that everyone knows and loves, like Error in the Code, but I feel I put a pretty good blend of well-known and unknown fics as well. I haven't been in this fandom all that long so a lot of my bookmarks came from popular fic reccs, and has grown since then.

There's actually a lot of them I didn't recommended bc they already had tens of thousands of hits, and I do believe fic reccs should have lesser known works, too! It can be discouraging to see the same group of people always recommended, especially when it feels like no one really reads "unknown" fic writers. Luckily KP doesn't seem to suffer from this problem, it's a small enough fandom that it feels like a lot of us are just. Already friends/familiar with each other. But that was a huge problem back in the Star Wars/TfA fandom back in the day. If you weren't a BNF, good luck ending up on a recc list.

At some point I might put together a list of my favorite fandom classics, so to speak, bc I think it's equally shitty to leave someone off of a list just because they're already popular. We're all still just people that crave validation, and there's no such thing as too much praise. I'm just trying to spread the love to everyone I can, popular or not, bc I think everyone deserve to get their fic recc'd at least once. And there's a lot of really amazing fics that don't get the attention I think they deserve!

No one has sent me any recc prompts but I'm building up my own list of ideas, and while my focus is definitely more on less popular works, it's always going to be based on how much I loved the fic itself. Popular fics are popular for a reason! Which is why I think the best thing to do is just try and strike a nice balance. That way everyone gets to be appreciated!

Jere and Bojan (+some friends) spend midsummer together and the tension between them finally breaks 👀 Their relationship is so tender in this and even tho they don't officially get together in this one you can just tell they were made for each other <3

Some sub/dom with Bojere where Bojan is rlly into the idea of Jere talking Finnish during sex but Jere thinks it's cringe haha The concept itself is humorous but it's so well written and it's rlly sweet to read about Bojan and Jere communicating in regards to their sex life and making sure the other is comfortable 💖

It starts out as a sexy hockey AU but it quickly escalated into a genuinely investing story about Bojan and Jere struggling with their deep feelings for each other. Their dynamic is so fun and interesting in this and the chapter where they sit in McDonald's together and talk for the second time rlly lives in my mind rent free😔💖💖 My only criticism is that we missed out on Jere in a skirt 😤 (but we did get Bojan in it 😏)

Jere is so endearing in this and i love how Bojan just goes along with his shenanigans <3 It's rlly quick paced but it perfectly captures that holiday excitement and how quickly things can escalate between two strangers that immediately hit it off. The descriptions of summer and the environments and Bojan's feelings for Jere are just incredible and I really am hoping it'll get finished some day :")💕

Jere accidentally implies he and Bojan are together during an interview, cue the fake relationship trope 🙏 It started off rlly humorous but then it became more and more emotional as they start to develop real feelings for each other and the angst is fantastic!! This one is also unfinished but it doesn't end on a cliffhanger or anything so it definitely doesn't take away from the experience

It does include voyeurism (by Loreen of all ppl lol) which isn't really my thing but it was so well written and tenderhorny that it didn't bother me reading it :) The smut is great and so is the dialogue (+I just love possessive Bojan in fics lol)

I’m currently having Spy x Family brain rot, and I want to write something so bad but I’m having trouble coming up with ideas if anyone wants to- I don’t know- give me some so I can sleep easier at night.

is there any cons of being a popular author? something annoying or maybe something that makes you uncomfortable?

that’s an interesting question. the only thing I can think of is like the more exposure you get, the more likely you are to face negative feedback and entitlement. i also have anxiety so feeling exposed to a lot of ppl in those instances can be difficult.

I also think the plagiarism might’ve happened because I have more exposure?? but then i also found out about it very quickly on both occasions for the same reason. because ppl recognized my fics and called it out.

to me, the pros really outweigh the cons? even with my anxiety, I feel pretty comfortable on tumblr (as opposed to twitter, which wasn’t healthy for me at all…) and i love how many ppl engage with my work. it's weird to think of myself as popular lol... but i'm grateful for where i am fandom-wise rn.
