Digimon World lore & a crackpot fan theory about digital humans & Digimon Adventure
Ordinarily, I wouldn't bring up any fan theories or any connections between the World & Adventure; other than they shared some locations, like File Island. Then I found out that, storywise, Digimon World 2 was indeed a sequel to Digimon World 1 (thank you, Wayneisboss) & that DW & Adventure were pulling some ideas from the franchise's early lore but obviously went in different directions.
This fan theory came rushing through my head as I was watched the aforementioned Wayneisboss' review of Digimon World 2. Sorta like this!
You know those abandoned human objects & buildings that were strewn about in the Digital Worlds of DW1 & Digimon Adventure? In Digimon World, these items were confirmed to be abandoned by humans from Earth that were trying to colonise File Island. For one reason or another, a schism broke out between humans & digimon, which resulted in the humans fleeing the island.

In DW2, all of the humans (including our playable character) were revealed to be the descendants of said human survivors that fled File Island. The survivors had went on to settle the Folder Continent & had built Digital City.
Now on to Digimon Adventure. What if something similar happened to their Digital World? What if humans also tried to colonise Adventure's Digital World at some point, but failed? Though unlike their DW counterparts, the majority of them were wiped out, leaving only various man-made objects, autonomous vehicles, empty buildings, & perhaps a few survivors like Gennai, his clones(?)/kin(?) & NotKen McPedo the Mysterious Man, who were digitised at some point.
I think some other Digimon media have featured similar stuff, but I only singled out World & Adventure as they're the most familiar to me. There are also other digital humans similar to Gennai, but their origins are quite varied. From androids, to A.I.s, to digital clones.
Okay, I think that's enough theorizing for one day.

Manufactured SEEDs
Basically, the concept is that SEEDs once served as a âpositiveâ force meant to permanently remove or separate negative emotions that were deemed unnecessary.
(I wish I could elaborate but I donât really know how) (I wanted the idea that âSEEDsâ have always existed or something unique to Fragaria Memories without being inspired to anything if that makes sense?)
Assuming that SEEDs existed during the time of Legendary Red, what if âLegendary Redâ made the SEEDs but backfired and twisted the story that they saved the world of Fragaria from the SEEDs.
Maybe the SEEDs couldnât be completely destroyed for whatever arbitrary reason, and the Strawberry King took responsibility to guard the last remnant of existing SEEDs left from this world of Fragaria?
Eldrittâs purpose is to keep the origin of SEEDs and the truth of Legendary Red a secret.Â
<- But at the same time, what good is keeping the truth hidden(?)) âTo keep the world idyllicâ(?) (How would revealing the truth about Legendary Red and the SEEDs affect the world?Â
(Maybe we can connect this to time loop theory(?)) (Do you think Halritt wants to keep the world happy by all means necessary) (and time loop is his only answer)
Do you think their existence evolved during their entrapment by the Strawberry King? Theyâre indiscriminately trying to feed from negative emotions because of this insatiable hunger they had for who knows how long?
How did they escape? Why did the Strawberry King disappear?
Lovers to the same liesâ Protectors to sanctity, memories to sanity Red-splattered puddles dye into black I, the shadow to which you belong ⊠strangers to the flesh. Fumbled darkness, the pitch-black mold. A stiff neck ⊠Unable to turn. (Clocks unfortunately twist ⊠A head rolls down.)
Edlritt - âWhat only needs to be known is thatâŠâ Eldritt - âWe both want the SEEDs eliminated.â âSo, Merold, as long as the motivation existsâwe will both be quiet.â Eldritt - âIs this clear enough for you?"
#fragmem#time to ramble in the tags again haha...#holostarsEN lore is crazy but basically the world âelysiumâ exists as a solution/digital world in the pursuit of peace and perfection#abandoned humanity and ârecord corruptionâ is basically a terrible disease that leads to death if i remember correctly(?)#and âcorruption beastsâ are similar to SEEDs but donât remove memory#if i remember correctly the people are either âplayersâ or âNPCsâ#we live in a digital world digimon digimon#honestly i kinda forgot mid-thought about what i wanted to elaborate on but i think it was the theory that knights earn their forms and nam#i think i wanted to connect it to the possibility of what could be the lore of fragaria memoriesâs world#like maybe it is a digital world?#i like the idea that world was dying but was saved by the strawberry king and the lords#what if magic was only made as a countermeasure against SEEDs?#Merold - âTo destroy the sin within you I will thoroughly humiliate and reveal the truth one by one.â#Merold - âSo Iâll keep playing Halritt.â âA smile just like this! Where nothing seems out of place.â#âSEEDs are the original sinâ will always be stuck in my head#to eliminate negativity is to embrace death#maybe that is the purpose of a SEED?#to become pitch black or free from color because nothing exists within a void(?)#i wrote to myself once that i wanted merold to have his the holy grail of eris moment#merold - âkirikikirikukuâ (eldritt awakens)#its such a good story⊠im too much of a sucker to villainess storiesâŠ#my dark timeline is that halritt tries to create a peaceful world to prevent the SEEDs but this backfires and halritt becomes a tyrant#i want him to die by meroldâs hand like a sick joke instead of a SEED#the people you tried to protect now fear or hate you#Merold - âYouâre a small man who is bounded by his appearance.â#Eldritt - âOh but MeroldâArenât you also the same if we apply it you?â#Merold - âAnd whoâs to say Iâm spared from my own words?â#Merold - âAn executioner is not exempt to his own blade.â âI intend to do worse to you and the same to myself.â

taking nerdjoâs glasses while youâre riding đ„ž
cw. 18+. semi public sex. sub undertones. breeding kink.
ââohhhh fuckkkkk,â
he doesnât understand itâ any of it. he doesnât understand how he, of all people, managed to get you. the it girl on campusâ with pretty hairstyles and cutesy nails, flocks of both girls and boys crawling after you for the slightest bit of your attention, is somehow interested in the least known guy aroundâ the lanky, socially awkward physics teacher assistant with fading digimon stickers glued to the back of his worn down computer.
gojo assumes heâs experiencing one hell of a good dream. thatâs the only way to explain the insatiable feeling of wet heat enveloping his aching dick. itâs the only way to explain the pornographic sounds of skin slapping echoing in this empty library. itâs the only way to explain why his balls are begging for release with each grind of needy hips rocking against his own.
he doesnât want to wake up. he feels the cheap fabric of carpet beneath his fingernails from digging them into the floor. his knuckles are turning white from how hard heâs clenching. thereâs an abnormal tightening of a knot in his guts begging to be snapped. he can feel beads of sweat forming at his hairline and his foggy glasses are slipping past his nose bridge uncomfortablyâ
but he doesnât want to wake up.
planted on the heels of whatever latest trendy shoes you own, youâre riding his cock as if he were your lifeline. god you feel divineâ your folds swallowing him into your cunt with such ease and precision, walls clenching down the moment heâs balls deep. he can feel your acrylics scratching at his undercut with one hand while the other holds your body steady down his thigh.
gojo doesnât think heâs breathing, and frankly, isnât sure if he wants to. youâre recklessâ moaning freely in the emptiness of the establishment and right into the shell of his ear as if your birthright, careless of the thuds of heavy textbooks hitting the floor. thereâs a crease in your brows and your jaw hangs slack, glossy lips parted as they release the hymns of your cries,
ââso deep, can feel you in my stomach!â
your tits bounce in clockwise motions. youâd freed yourself from your top sometime between the flirting behind bookshelves and his pikachu drawls dropping down to the floor. the sound of your pussy squelching with every bounce is a memory he wouldnât forget even on his death bedâ cunt so wet he can hardly feel his own dick in you.
the pad of your thumb grazes his bottom lip, and you lean forward to catch it between yours. heâs frozen stiffâ the slip of your tongue in his mouth, your overwhelming sweetness invading his senses. heâs moaning pathetically, growing some security in the muffled sounds, so overstimulated by this insatiable pleasure that his arms start to feel weak.
your tongue swipes at his lips before nibbling on the flesh, ââtaste so good,â he feels your lips mouthing against his own, and wishes he was able to focus for a split second on what you told him, but the ache in balls are a telltale that this euphoric dream is drawing to an end.
he squints his eyes shut. he tries to focus on the latest chapter of his latest obsession manga and theories heâs conspired. he recalls the sneak of his wrinkly old professorâs ass crack from his early lecture. he thinks back on this auction heâs seen online for retro limited edition video games. did he ever end up submitting that biochem lab assignment dueâ
âgojo.â
he snaps his eyes open. he didnât realize heâd clenched his entire facial muscles until the moment he was able to see you againâ only releasing those muscles feeling tightness in his cheeks (amongst other places)(read: his cock).
youâve slowed down your pace. youâve switched your movements from bounces to grinding. he can feel his tip prodding at your gummy walls. your breath fans his cupidâs bow and heâs only now noticing how close in proximity you both are. he can feel your heartbeat against his chest, and heâs positive you can feel his stomach clenching against your own.
he begins to feel more of your body weight on his, a feeling he definitely wants to get accustomed to, as you shift from your feet to your knees. your hand on his thigh trails upwards past his trail of hair, sliding up past the ridges of his abs, over the planes of his chest and meet at his nape with its other duo. thereâs an aroma of vanilla and cherries exuding off youâ
heisenburgâs uncertainty principle. star wars mandalorian culture. the roswell ufo incident. fucking neon genesis evangelionâs a cruel angelâs thesisâ
âyou donât like me?â you ask him, all doey eyed like. it doesnât sound like a legitimate question, but his âhuhâ does draw more into a whine when you intentionally clamp down on his dick. he doesnât miss the mischievous glint in your eyes.
gojo bites down on his lower lip, fiddling with a loose thread on the carpet. his body releases a shudder at the chills creeping up his spine when you trace a finger down the slope of his neck, âw-what?â he asks weakly, huffing as his toes curl in his socks.
this time, you cock your head just barely to the side, and he watches your gaze trail from his lips to his eyes and back to his lips. despite the agonizingly slow pace, you never stop riding him. his cock is still graced by your warmth, still snatching his soul through his slit. your lashes bat twice before glancing back up at his eyes.
âyou donât like me.â youâre not asking this time, your tone dripping in seduction and like a fool, finds himself swayed. youâre teasing himâ he can see it in the way the corner of your lips quirk into your infamous smile. youâve got him wrapped all around your pretty fingerâ he knows it and you definitely know it.
as if he was anybody to not like you. your ass cheeks clench when you drive your body forward, gripping on his cock so tight he can feel the wind knocked out his lungs, âno! are you, ngh, crazyâ of course i doââ
âbecause i like you.â it falls short of a whisper, but the vibrations of your words against his lips shoot right to his heart and balls, and he knows his blotchy cheeks are now flushed red for an entirely different reason.
he answers faster than his mind can process, his stomach jumping with butterflies and an oncoming orgasm. your eyes wonât leave hisâ like a deceiving siren baring deep into his soul and rendering him vulnerable before consuming his entire being. not too far from his reality, hips bucking upwards as desperately as possible to emphasize his immediate answer, âi like you tooââ
âyou wonât look at me,â gojo hadnât realized he shied away from your gaze, pouring his entire focus on not spilling both his heart and cum right into you, âtalk to me.â
âi-itâs just, um,â he tries to flick his eyes back onto yours, but youâre still staring so intensely behind siren eyes and still rocking your hips. your fluids drip past your cunt and down his sack, before staining the carpet, âiâm aâmmph, nobody and youâreâ well, youâre you,â he feels a hot tongue glide over the accumulated sweat on his neck and humps up again, âyâre just so pretty and every time i look at you i get the urge to c-cum but,â your teeth sink into his jugular before nibbling and he whines, throwing his head back, âi wantâ need you to cum first. . .â
thereâs a beat of silence for a while. youâve even halted your grinding altogether. he prays to god he didnât mess up the one good thing thatâs happened to him in all his twenty one years of living. youâve even popped his now bruised skin from your lipsâ hovering right over the mark you left on him. pleasure licks at his limbs feverishly, back arching in hopes to dig even deeper (if possible) in your pussy.
you pull away from his neck and the tip of your nose is back to grazing his own. your usually styled hair is now a mess, your skin dampening from moisture and your lip gloss now swapped for your and his salivaâ your overall classic, picture perfect image completely abandoned,
and he doesnât think youâve looked any prettier.
âso,â you draw out, freeing a hand from his locks to graze over the throbbing love bite at his neck. gojo sniffs, pushing his foggy glasses back up on his bridge with the back of his hand, and you caress the throbbing flesh, âthe problem is when you look huh. . .?â
his neck is suddenly released from blissful torture and he feels his frames coming off his face from no effort of his own. his vision slowly fades and his pupils dilate to accommodate to his now poor quality of sight, âwhat are youââ
and his breath hitches. he can only make out your shape through your sinful curves but thereâs no mistake from your silhouetteâ your hands, now holding his glasses hostage, press at his chest, âtrust me,â you apply firm pressure from your palms to his upper body, and he feels himself sinking into the floor, back meeting the dirty carpet.
trust you? heâd lay his life on the line for a woman like you.
his fingers spread as his palms face the sky, and his breath staggered. the bookshelves, windows and study rooms are all blurry as fuckâ which is both off putting and extremely risky since library hours were still valid at this time, but despite it all, it felt as if he could see you clear as day. gojo would usually never put his academics on the line, but he couldnât deny the thrill of possibly getting caught having sex with the finest girl in school in a public library had his cock twitching incessantly.
god, he is just so happy to be here.
your fingers slide his glasses atop your nose bridge, and your cheeks split into a cheeky smile, hips beginning to roll back into their previous tempo. he feels your hands grabbing his own, before resting them at your hips. heâs a greedy man, and since the opportunity may only come once in his lifetime, he slides his hands further to your ass., and with a gulp, grabs the flesh greedily. damnâ it hardly fits in his palms.
thereâs a symphony of moans coming from you both when you lift your hips up, and itâs downright disgusting how turned on he gets at your essence trickling down his shaft and past his balls. your pussy lips drool and latch onto his tip tightly, before entirely releasing him and slipping your hand between your thighs. you kneed his nuts, fondling the testicles between your digits expertly and his back arches off the floor, âshouldnât be an issue anymore, yeah?â you hum.
ây-yeahâ oh god, yes,â gojo nods dumbly, toes curling in his socks as you proceed to stroke his cock. his tip is weeping in pre cum blended with your own wetness, and the faster you flick your wrist, the tighter his stomach contracts. heâs lasted quite some time now, considering this being his first time and all, but thereâs only so much a man can hold back. his fingernails dig crescent moon shapes into the mounds of your ass as his hips chase after your touch with every stroke. âw-wait, fuck, iâm gonna cumââ
âyeah?â you encourage him, hunching just over his weeping dick, still holding him at his base. you drag his tip in between your lips, back and forth, while your other hand feels him up at his abs. âwhere do you wanna finish? on my face?â he whines, mindlessly humping and your smirk deepens as you slowly sink down, âon my tits?â gojo shakes his head, and feels drool coming from the corner of his lips. his limbs are on fire and his groin feels like itâs on the verge of explosion, âon my ass?â youâre about halfway down, âor. . . inside?â
âplease,â he doesnât care if heâs begging. snowy lashes bat open as his teary unfocused eyes adjust to the dimmed lights. even your silhouette is sexy, âplease lemme cum inside, i-iâll do anything.â
âhmm, anything?â you purr, knees finally hitting the floor as you straddle him once more. he lets out a guttural groan at the familiar feel of your silky walls entrapping his cock. his mind is fucking hazy and despite never having consuming alcohol, he feels drunk.
âyes,â he pleads, rolling his hips impossibly deeper into you, euphoric pleasure shooting in his bloodstream, âa-anything you want, i swear,â at the sudden intrusion, you let out a loud gasp when his tip bumps into your cervix and drop your body forward, arms giving out.
chest to chest, skin to skin, your lips hover over his as your back dips into an arch, forcing a penetration deeper in your guts. your palms are pressed flat onto the floor at the side of his head, and he can make out his glasses sitting lazily on the ball of your nose. he slides his hands up your sides, kneading at every inch of your flesh, before sliding back down to your ass.
âeven my homework? assignments?â you tease breathily, a strangled moan ripping out your throat when his knees push up and fucks into you. your body jerks forward as his feet plant to the floor, hands still gripping on your ass.
when he snaps his hips up, you roll yours down, and the matching intensity sends his brain haywire. heâs desperate for release, forcing your hips down as he nudges his cock languidly into your cunt. his jaw falls slack and he nods again, dumbly, ângh, for the rest of the s-school year,â
âthat easy with you?â you giggle, but is easily interrupted when he leans forward to catch your lips in a messy kiss. thereâs a shit ton of saliva involved, some even escapes past your mouths and down your jaws, but he couldnât care any lessâyou tasted heavenly. he wishes he had the time to eat your pussy, heâs positive you taste holier down there.
âitâs your world.â gojo moans, snaking his hands from your ass to wrap around your upper body. now caught in his embrace, you let your head fall limply into the crook of his neck as he works his dick in and out of you. he means what he saidâ it is your world, and heâs nothing more than a happy servant. âiâll do it allâ bring your books to class, rub your feetâ iâll bark if you need me toâ just, please, please, please let me cum inside.â
your moans vibrating from his neck run straight to his ears and fuels him further. heâs thrusting relentlesslyâ thereâs no set pace at all, and heâs so close to finishing heâs completely forgotten about wanting you to cum first. he finally understands why everybody obsesses over sexâ he never wants to let you go.
your head pushes up from his neck, nosing at his jaw. he feels your hands cradling his hair, and your lips pressing kisses at the corner of his mouth. his heart skips a beatâ he revels in the attention youâre giving him, even if itâs just for the moment. he knows he wonât ever be this lucky again, so he might as well enjoy the ride while heâs here.
âyou wanna breed my pussy?â you bite your lip, each stroke in your cunt jerking the glasses down the slope of your nose. despite the dense flog clouding the lens, he can feel your eyes on him. he nods desperately, tightening his hold on you, and the new angle has your clit dragging against his pelvis, âmmphâ okay, yeah â put a baby in me, freak.â
and so he does. he thrusts as spurts of cum shoots inside your womb. his balls tighten as his hips rut, arms clutching onto your body with every fibre in him. you smell good, feel good, look goodâ and your cunt milks him dry for whatever heâs worth.
his orgasm feels short of an eternity yet simultaneously a second, his soul having transcended into an outwardly dimension. and itâs only when you scoot your ass upwards, sliding a hand between both warm bodies, that you collect his cum on the pad of your fingers. he blinks hazily, zeroing his focus when he sees you pop your fingers into your mouth.
âmhm,â you hum at the taste. heâs panting heavily, body riding a euphoric high heâs yet to come down from. you donât seem to mind, leaning forward to catch his lips once again. and he lets you, moaning at the taste of himself on your tongue. when you pull away, thereâs a thin string of cum induced saliva pulling at your lips. ââs my world, right? want my pussy in your mouth.â
and he instantly hardens.

Hello, I would like to reiterate the question on this post and give my thoughts on it now that it's been a while since Beyond came out.

It's not the fact that Takeru is in the Dark Ocean that weirds me out and confuses me, it's the fact that he's so calm.
Like I said, I headcanon that since Takeru actively went looking for Hikari and willingly entered the Dark Ocean that he got dragged into the Dark Ocean's shenanigans.
Hikari and Ken have a connection with it and Takeru got dragged in since he actively went looking for the Dark Ocean while trying to find Hikari.
I don't think Miyako has the same problem, since she was more pulling into the Dark Ocean since she was with Ken and Hikari, she was more collateral damage.
So it's not the fact that Takeru's in the Dark Ocean, and think it creates a fun little idea that Takeru gets pulled into darkness just like Hikari and Ken.
It's the fact that he's so calm!

That is not the fact someone should make when in a land of darkness!
Especially since the Dark Ocean has tried to use the darkness to hurt the people he's cared about and to just hurt people in general.
I just want to remind people that Takeru doesn't hate the powers of darkness itself, he just doesn't like it when people or digimon use the darkness to hurt the others.
He says in 02 that light cannot exist without the darkness.
And if you've even seen the jp version of the episode where Hikari first goes to the Dark Ocean then you'd know that what they want to do to her is definitely evil.
So why is he so calm!
It kinda freaks me out. Takeru gets angry at the powers of darkness, and you don't get more dark then the world of darkness. And this place has hurt people he cares about.
From what we know of Takeru and his personality he should be angry, maybe even scared a little.
But he's not.
He's calm.
And it's freaking me out.
I don't know, after Beyond came out I wrote a short fic about this scene right here, will probably post it tomorrow so tell me if you'd like to read a fic that try's to explain why Takeru is so calm here.
I like other peoples theories, like how the Dark Ocean is a metaphor for depression and how Takeru is here because he starts to pull himself away from the others because of his writing.
There was also a statement from Kakudou, the director of Beyond who was also the director for Digimon Adventure 1999 and Digimon Adventure 02 that said that he just wanted to continue to explore how he thought the kids would be like when they were older that he didn't get to explore in other pieces of Digimon Adventure media.
I like all of those, and I'm sure that there are other theories that I will love and Kakudou can do what he wants and I love Beyond too, but no matter what I think I'm still going to be a little weirded out by this.
I love Takeru, he's always been my favorite character in Digimon.
I love seeing him get screen time and Takeru has always been one of the only characters where we see how the Digital World affected him and we get to see how his trauma manifests.
From him attacking Ken in 02, too him breaking down when Patamon gets infected in Tri, too him being scared of breaking the bonds between digimon in The Beginning.
It would be amazing to have the Dark Ocean come back and to include Takeru in a storyline with it, but this, this just feels a little dissapoiting.
There was so many things they could have done for Beyond, and what we got kinda feels like a let down. I love it, and will gladly watch it over and over again.
But I feel like a movie or another anime would have been even better for seeing how the kids we all grew up with are like now and how they have changed because of their adventures.
People really want more, but that wont happen for a while because of Digimon Beatbreak, and it might not happen at all. If it here I think a nice two hour long movie would be great.
Anyway, to wrap this up, I love Takeru, and would love and Dark Ocean plot for him and Hikari and Ken, but no matter what without context this scene will always weird me out.

digimon adventure beyond and canonicity
oh hey speaking of reactions to digimon con
i continue to be so confused by everyone else's reads of kizuna
like yes, digimon adventure's canon is tracing paper, binder clips, and yarn at this point. but also, am i the only one that interpreted the ending of kizuna not to mean that agumon and gabumon were gone, but that they couldn't live off of what tai and yamato were giving them?
the implication especially through 02 is that partner bonds don't just give digimon strength, they help them maintain forms in the human world. so it stands to reason that if a bond is weakening, a digimon will grow weaker too. stylistically i think kizuna also did a really good job of this, by showing gabumon and agumon looking much older.
(if you watch the last scene, i think you'll see what i mean. gabumon especially just looks so fucking tired.)
but i've noticed a lot of people seem to think that the message of kizuna was a bleak "you must give up your childhood and there's nothing you can do about it."
the way i've read it, especially the longer i keep coming back to it (because it's really such a fascinating movie to me in tandem with 02tb), is less that, and more "change is inevitable, and sometimes change separates people; but the desire to include them in your lives, rather than treat them as an accessory to your being, is what brings them back."
to me this reading is supported in part by eosmon's smile to menoa near the end, as well as the fact that kizuna didn't read to me as a movie that wanted to swat the epilogue down in spite. it wasn't written spitefully, and nor was 02tb. they're both aimed at a more mature audience who loves the franchise, and they both wanted to have a genuinely fascinating conversation about not only the strange concept of partner bonds, but the way we can learn from them in a world where there's nothing really 1:1.
i think all the anime already have this kind of mature discussion somewhere inside them, btw, so this isn't me saying that it's not something we've ever seen in digimon. it's just me noticing a very... bizarre (at least to me) reading in a canon that does a lot to be very optimistic.
(barring tri which. i will try not to get started here, i never know how to be concise about the weird antithesis that is tri.)
i know there's also something to be said for translation and media literacy in this conversation, but this is also coming from the translation theory and media literacy freak. the guy that didn't want watching digimon adventure subbed to be the end all be all so they also read the manga and onkei's novel translation. the guy that also read fan translations of both of the kizuna novels.
this is, unfortunately for you all, kind of my fucking wheelhouse lol.
there's also something to be said that, yes, digimon adventure is a rather bloated canon. a lot of people have written with its concepts and characters, and that means that a lot of canon non compliance between its parts is inevitable.
on one hand, while i want to say "who gives a fuck?" about canonicity, i also want to say, like... even if the details don't match, all of these stories still take place in a shared imaginary space. they want to tell stories playing off of each others' themes, and getting at something together that maybe alone doesn't quite reach that core thematic idea.
"but sky," you say, "bandai just wants money, which is why they keep doing adventure media."
two things can be true. kizuna and 02tb have worthwhile messages and i don't think we should shunt them from the canon.
hell, i even think tri to some extent had a lot of good ideas which i'd love to see actually interrogated. (you could argue that kizuna and 02tb do, in fact, share some thematic blood with tri. and i mean. i will. i have.)
idk. this got longer than i wanted it to but when does it not with me? i'm just thinking about digimon my normal amount.

How do you think Takeru would handle Hikari being possessed by Devimon and who is actively using her body to harm the rest of the team?
I donât think itâs possible for Hikari to be possessed by Devimon actually. Her crest of light I believe is a deterrent for possession.
Homeostasis possessing/influencing her is different because itâs not a viral type. Itâs literally the light of Digivolution.
The other exception happened in Digimon Tri with Ygdrassil influencing/possessing her,
My theory is this happened after Hikari had rejected Homeostasis controlling her and fought her off with her own will/crestpower and I will add Takeruâs encouragement because itâs a given he will always encourage her.
When Taichi nearly died Hikari did not have that protection having rejected Homeostasis. Having happened so soon after the rejection I believe this is why she was able to be possessed so easily.
But if for whatever reason Devimon had kidnapped or injured Hikari I will say that Takeru would somehow find the power to warp digivolve Patamon to Seraphimon or somehow temporarily harness the power of a Heavenâs Knuckle himself.

Theory:
The doll of Lilo (from Lilo and Stitch) is a Digimon.

Lilo: [pulls a strange looking rag doll from her backpack] This is Scrump.
[other girls gasp in horror]
Lilo: I made her. But her head is too big, so I pretended that a bug laid eggs in her ear, and she's upset because she has only a few more days to...
[notices that all the other girls are gone; She throws Scrump on the floor and walks away, then returns for Scrump].
Now, the meaning of Scrump: steal (fruit) from an orchard or garden. Example:
"I remember Gordon scrumping apples from the orchard next door"
Now, I present you Palmon:

Palmon is a Vegetation Digimon. It has a tropical flower blooming on its head.
To me, it's clear that Lilo tried to make Scrumps the most similar possible to Palmon. To be made by a kid with no resources, it is green, has the same form, same big head, big eyes, and big smile with little tusks. And of course, the ribbon in his head with the yellow Âżbranch? Are obviously imitating the pink flower with yellow pistils.
Also, Scrump means "steal from a garden," which is so appropriate to a doll of this Digimon, since it is a Vegetal type one, and even they can use them legs as roots burying them to absorb nutrients from the ground.

One thing in Beyond kinda intrigued me and made me pull out all my personal Digimon notes, esp. related to Tri.
Iori introduced himself as a high schooler.
But we see here that most of the others have significantly grown up, some even with more developed jawlines, longer hair, and all that. That's why the idea of it happening in between Kizuna and 02TB is not plausible.
The below is my personal theory, to be taken with a grain of salt.
Ever since 02TB I started taking notes on Tri. I used to hate Tri, but the actual reason was the treatment for the 02 kids. So watching 02TB gave me ideas on what could have happened to them in Tri.
Among the findings that I learned in Tri is that, in episode 1 or 2 I don't remember, Koshiro pointed out 8 odd things about the Kuwagamon attack on real world. One of them is that, "Digital gates had been closed for over a year".
This point should not be something weird, because (1) the year was 2005, doesn't it mean it was closed since 2004 or sometime before that? How could they not notice? (2) taken into consideration the last battle before Tri started was Diaboromon Strikes Back in 2003, did all Digidestined stop actively going to Digital World after that? (3) The only known Digivice to be able to open gates now that the D-2 that the Adventure 8 have kinda malfunctioned idek, is the D-3 Digivice.
And there's also the fact that nobody seemed to care why the 02 kids were not in the picture at all. Too many people theorized that the reason could be the result of a higher being tampering with memories of the people around the 02 kids.
I find this idea odd.
However high a deity in Digimon World is, I don't think it's possible for them to tamper the memories of the Adventure 8 in real life, because ultimately Digital World is the result of human invention - computers, digital programs and digital network. So there must be another reason why the Adventure 8 acted like the 02 kids' disappearance was something normal until Digimon Kaiser appeared. Something that is easier to explain, but have the same devastating result when it turned out the 02 kids were kidnapped.
My idea: the 02 kids went to an international student exchange program of some sort, a fake one to isolate them from the Adventure 8. The "Digital World investigation mission" was a deliberate trap by whoever behind this "exchange program" (among them are Himekawa and maybe also Nishijima). Original duration for this isolation was for about 1 year, but whoever worked there made efforts to let the parents and friends know of their "well-being" via fake letters or emails (unsure of Japanese communication trends between 2003-2005). So the Adventure 8 did not suspect anything bad happening to them until Digimon Kaiser attacked. This could also explain how only Himekawa & Nishijima knew of the 02 kids going MIA and not tell the Adventure 8.
That's the basic idea I had. What's important is the fact that the Digital Gates were closed for over a year. And since the Tri epilogue told us that the 02 kids took about 3 months to recover from their induced coma and go back to school (which is a long time including rehab), meaning they could have been there for a long time too. Like, say, a year or two.
These years they were gone, they missed school. So.
(notes copypasta'd below)
Timeline, age, and school grades:
2002 (Digimon 02): Daisuke, Ken, Hikari, Takeru (11, 5th grade), Miyako (12, 6th grade), Iori (9, 3rd grade)
2003 (Diaboromon Strikes Back): Daisuke, Ken, Hikari, Takeru (12, 6th grade), Miyako (13, middle 1st grade), Iori (10, 4th grade)
2004: let's say the 02 kids are gone here. Daisuke, Ken (13, supposed to be middle 1st grade, missing), Hikari & Takeru (13, middle 1st grade), Miyako (14, supposed to be middle 2nd grade, missing), Iori (11, supposed to be 5th grade, missing)
The 02 kids didn't have to go missing at the start of the year, but they could have been gone sometime before June 2004, a year before Tri events started.
2006: Daisuke & Ken (15, back to school, middle 1st grade), Hikari & Takeru (15, middle 3rd grade), Miyako (16, back to school, middle 2nd grade), Iori (13, back to school, gets to continue to middle 1st grade? Or maybe he'd insist to finish elementary at 5th grade).
2005 (Tri): Daisuke & Ken (14, missing), Hikari & Takeru (14, middle 2nd grade), Miyako (15, missing), Iori (12, missing)
They were found after the Tri events (still haven't finished rewatching to pinpoint the time), and took 3 months to recover.
2007: Daisuke & Ken (16, middle 2nd grade), Hikari & Takeru (16, high 1st year), Miyako (17, middle 3rd grade), Iori (14, middle 2nd grade or elementary 6th grade)
2008: Daisuke & Ken (17, middle 3rd year), Hikari & Takeru (17, high 2nd year), Miyako (18, high 1st year), Iori (15, middle 3rd grade / middle 1st grade)
2009: Daisuke & Ken (18, high 1st year), Hikari & Takeru (18, high 3rd year), Miyako (19, high 2nd year), Iori (16, high 1st year / middle 2nd grade)
2010 (Kizuna): Daisuke & Ken (19, high 2nd year), Hikari & Takeru (19, college), Miyako (20, high 3rd year), Iori (17, high 2nd year / middle 3rd year)
Something is odd in here. In some Kizuna merchandises Iori wore school uniform, while Daisuke, Ken, and Miyako did not despite them supposed to be still in high school. Did Kizuna event happen during school holiday? Was Iori wearing uniform because of tuition / extra classes / cram school? Hmm. Need to rewatch Kizuna.
2011: Daisuke & Ken (20, high 3rd year), Hikari & Takeru (20, college), Miyako (21, college?), Iori (18, high 3rd year / high 1st year)
2012 (02TB): Daisuke & Ken (21, college?), Hikari & Takeru (21, work?), Miyako (22, college / work?), Iori (19, work? / high 2nd year). (02TB events happened in February, while Japanese school year starts in April. This means during 02TB Iori is probably either in final months in high school 1st year, or last leg of high school 3rd year. If he's busy af in February while still in high school 1st year, it seems like he's an active member of the school committee / club.)
In Beyond PV, Iori says he's a high schooler. But at this point Daisuke & Ken have grown more and have more developed jawlines. Ken even grew his hair - hair that long from his 02TB cut should take about 1 year to grow. So if we take Iori's claim at face value, it's very possible that Iori is in his 3rd year, and the year is 2013.
This must mean that Iori continued school after the kidnapping in Tri at 5th grade.
Based on how the characters are dressed (all of them wearing long sleeves and jackets), the Beyond events might be happening during autumn nearing winter.

Digimon Adventure 01x04 - Scorching Heat! Birdramon! / Biyomon Gets Firepower
Previously on Digimon Adventure: The kids spent their first night on File Island, accidentally assaulted a sea dragon, and then slept in dirt. Also, Yamato loves his brother very much.
Now it's Sora's turn for a spotlight episode.
As the kids make their way through the woods, they hear a loud rumbling sound like a train coming from the sky. Looking up, there's a mysterious flying disc.
Yamato gets the best look at it, identifying it as some kind of gear. Sora suggests flying saucer, while Mimi splits the difference offers gear-shaped meteorite. Jou doesn't know what it was; He just gets a bad vibe from it.
In the dub, Matt suggests some kind of aircraft. Sora's the one who pegs it as a gear, while Izzy takes it as clear visible evidence for his alien theory. Joe agrees with Izzy and riffs on the show's art, declaring "They hit us with an antigravity way to make us all crooked; Or maybe that sign's just crooked?"
The conversation is interrupted when Takeru trips on a vine and hurts his ankle. Wilderness travel sucks.
Taichi and Yamato both rush to Takeru's side, but Taichi gets there first. One detail I really love in this scene is that Takeru visibly turns his head to talk directly to Yamato when he cries that his fall hurt.
Takeru tries to be tough, saying he can take it and it doesn't really hurt that much. Sora assures him that it's okay to be honest about his pain, and gives Takeru confidence to withdraw that retraction. It does hurt. Patamon, way too late on the uptake, suddenly screams "ARE YOU OKAY, TAKERU!?" and Tentomon calls him out for being slow.
The dub cuts this whole discussion of Takeru's pain. When Tai picks him up, he chastizes him because "That could have been a snake!" T.K. apologizes for being clumsy, then asks Biyomon if the island has snakes on it. She assures him it doesn't; There's just giant killer bugs and stuff, no snakes. Patamon then boldly proclaims that he'll fight those Digimon to protect T.K.
From here, we get into Sora and Piyomon's conflict for this arc. As the group discusses where we even go from here, Piyomon begins nuzzling Sora and declares that she'll be perfectly happy as long as she's with Sora.
Sora does not take this well. "Even if you're 100% happy, it'll be troublesome for me. I can't be held responsible." Piyomon doesn't understand what she means by that and eagerly asks her to explain, because she wants to know everything about Sora. Sora tries to wave off her questions; That was not an invitation for further conversation.
As the kids start walking again, Tentomon explains to Koushiro that Piyomon are highly social Digimon. Behind them, Piyomon takes Sora's hand while they walk and sings, "Sora~ Sora~ Sora~!" While Piyomon physically clings to her, Sora wonders to herself whether she's going to be able to get along with a "mushy Digimon" like Piyomon.
The dub cuts all of this. As the kids discuss where to go, Tai suggests looking for signs of intelligent life. Biyomon takes offense to that, asking Sora if Tai just insulted the Digimon. Sora assures her that Tai didn't mean it like that, then spends the rest of her dialogue explaining how important it is that they stick together and work as a team to find their way out of here.
As the kids start walking, Matt imitates a tour guide and introduces everyone to "The Forest of Irrelevant Road Signs". Sora rolls her eyes and complains internally, "We're lost and these guys are making jokes!"
Good news is, the kids finally find their way out of the Forest of Irrelevant Road Signs. Bad news is, the Desert of Inexplicable Telephone Poles seems much worse. I vote we stay here.
A quick cut shows us the gear crashing into a nearby mountain shaped like a layered sponge cake, because File Island is weird. In the dub, the kids see and comment on "the flying saucer again", with Matt proclaiming that it's "heading for a close encounter!" But this shot is for the audience's benefit, not theirs.
Walking through the desert, Koushiro compares it to the African savannah he saw on TV. This prompts discussion of whether they'll run into lions or giraffes, but the Digimon assure them there are no such animals here. Only Digimon.
Yamato asks Koushiro if the African savannah has phone poles in it. My heart goes out to him for that question. Like, you can hear the hopefulness behind the question, like maybe they've finally pegged where they are. But no. There are no inexplicable telephone poles in the African savannah.
Jou, however, takes the phone poles as a sign of hope. We flash back on the pay phones and the trolley. If there's so much stuff here then there must be people. Behind him, Tentomon whispers to Koushiro, once again reasserting that there are no people. Only Digimon.
In the dub, they head into the desert to purposefully follow the phone poles, then use the rest of their dialogue to complain about the heat. T.K. whines that he can feel the heat coming up through his socks, so Matt suggests putting his shoes back on. Mimi then complains that the desert air is bad for her complexion, providing the others another opportunity to yell at her.
Dub Sora points out that the phone poles aren't connected to anything. Izzy takes that as a chance to theorize that they're some kind of alien devices.
For the flashbacks on the pay phones and trolley, Dub Mimi abruptly asks, "Hey, remember those phone booths and the street car?" but she's not going anywhere with this. "I was just wondering if anyone else remembered!" This provokes Joe into suddenly proclaiming that everyone is doomed and the heat is baking their brains. Behind him, Tentomon whispers to Izzy that they need to find shade for Joe.
Amid all this, Mimi has an idea to help them navigate the desert. Remember that compass from the survival kit she stole from her dad? Mimi remembers.
The dub plays this for a joke. "You won't believe what happened to my favorite watch. The sun melted the numbers right off!" The way she delivers this suggests Mimi herself might be cracking a joke, but the way the dub treats her in general leaves it kind of ambiguous.
They also seem to think this is a different compass, as Tai cracks a joke about Mimi having "a lot of compasses for someone who hates hiking". No, Tai. She has the one. From the survival kit she stole from her dad.
Holding the compass out flat, it begins to spin wildly and can't find a direction. So. That sucks. Koushiro assesses the sand they're walking on and realizes it's actually powdered iron, which is throwing off the compass. So much for that.
Next steps: We should probably find water before we all dehydrate. Seems like that would probably have been a good thing to think about before beginning a death march through the desert, but these are children.
Here, the Japanese crew start suffering from the heat, joining the dub crew. Gomamon proclaims that he needs ice or, at least, water. In the dub, Izzy lands a good joke by explaining that he's taken a soil sample, measured the barometric pressure, and analyzed the relative humidity to come to the conclusion: "It's really, really hot."
Mimi takes off her hat and gives it to Palmon to protect her from the harsh sun. Dub Palmon gets in a crack about "If this goes on too long, I'm going to look like a wilted salad."
Mimi's kind gesture surprises Sora, who starts to say something but then stops herself. Piyomon then starts in, calling out Sora's name like a child trying to get her mom's attention until Sora finally snaps at her. Sora yells at Piyomon to quit clinging to her, because she's tired and thirsty and can't take it anymore.
Feeling guilty for hurting Piyomon's feelings, Sora takes it back and agrees to let Piyomon keep walking with her. Piyomon forgives her instantly, hugging her legs and proclaiming, "Sora, I love you!"
Once again I want to take a moment and comment on the art, as the decision to center Mimi and Palmon with their clear, visible gesture of care for one another on full display in this shot is perfect.
Though I also want to note that, while Sora's behavior towards Piyomon is hurtful and that's what drives the plot of the episode, it should be taken with the perspective that they just met yesterday. Piyomon is being pretty clingy. There's nuance here.
Again, the dub cuts Sora and Piyomon's emotional conflict out of the scene entirely. They use the screentime to make jokes. Matt cracks, "Now you know why they call them SWEAT socks!" while Mimi gets in a stellar crack, pointing out that this "beach" would be a lot more popular if it had a couple more things like an ocean. XD
When Biyomon stops walking in visible distress, it's because she's tired and needs to rest. Sora suggests pretending that it's raining, which gives Biyomon so much encouragement that she runs up and hugs Sora. She loves the rain so much.
Breaking out his telescope, Taichi finds the most wonderful sight in the distance. That's not just an oasis, it's a full-blown village. This is the brightest moment since the kids arrived on File Island! Let's get over there!
Jou triumphantly declares victory; He knew there'd be people here! Mimi's thirsty, Takeru's hungry, everyone's excited for an end to the desert.
Dub Tai and Joe are both more interested in the water than the village, but Izzy's interested in the village; He's the only one that suggests there may be people. Mimi wants shade, while T.K. is "hungry enough to eat broccoli!"
Meanwhile, the gear finds its way to its target. Slamming into this man made of fire, it grotesquely digs into his flesh and buries itself in his body.
The village... isn't exactly what they anticipated. The kids quickly realize that they will not find shelter here. The huts are like two feet tall and populated by dozens of Pyocomon.
This revelation naturally leaves Jou distraught; No people, once again. Mimi thinks it's cute, though; It reminds her of a faerie tale. Dub Joe's upset because they won't fit into the huts, while Mimi wants to take a Pyocomon home with her to put with the rest of her plushies. This gives them yet another chance to shit-talk her, with Matt wondering aloud if Mimi even hears the same things the rest of them do while Izzy accuses her of being an alien spy.
The dub is so mean to Mimi.
In fact, Piyomon used to be one of those Pyocomon, and takes the opportunity to catch up. While Sora listens in and seems genuinely touched by how much Piyomon cares about her. We watch her frown turn to a smile as Piyomon brags that she evolved because of Sora and she's learning new words from Sora.
But then Piyomon says she evolved to "protect Sora" and that offends her. Sora grumpily mutters to herself that Piyomon's too lovey-dovey to protect anyone. But then she flashes back on Greymon and Garurumon's evolution, realizing that something similar might happen to Piyomon if she's put in danger. That brings the smile back to her face.
The dub keeps most of this, but Sora isn't as mean about the "protect Sora" remark. She sounds more curious about what that means, then thinks about Greymon and Garurumon and she gets it. Grinning, she proclaims, "We're lucky kids!"
The Pyocomon offer to prepare a feast in the kids' honor. Koushiro briefly considers what the food will be, but his thoughts are interrupted when Takeru finds the water!
Tentomon explains that this isn't just any spring; This water comes from Miharashi Mountain, that odd layered mountain that the gear flew off to. Dub T.K. observes that it's a volcano, but the Yokomon assure him that "the heat boils away all the germs".
At this point, we see the gear finish burrowing into the fire man from before. Then the attack begins.
The kids try the lake that the derelict boat was sitting in, but it's completely dried up. They move to a well in the village, but fire pours out of that as well.
They quickly assess that this must be related to that gear they saw flying to Miharashi, seeing as it's the water source for everything here. The Pyocomon offer context that Meramon lives on Miharashi and he's supposed to protect it. How could something have happened?
Like Seadramon, the dub makes Meramon out to be more vicious than the original. Here, the Yokomon speak of Meramon with terror, saying they don't dare visit the mountain because of how dangerous he is. "He burns up everything he touches!"
Taichi scouts the mountain with his telescope and finds no answers, only a bigger question: Why is Meramon descending the mountain and coming right for us?
Meramon irrationally screams that he's on fire and burning up, while the narrator officially introduces him. He's an Adult-stage Data-type Digimon. This is where the dub got "He burns up everything he touches", but the narrator clarifies "in battle".
In the dub, Palmon handles his introduction but all she offers is that it's weird for his own flames to be causing him pain like this. Accurate, but also self-evident.
Also, while he's clearly out of his mind and screaming about burning up and being in pain in both versions, Dub Meramon starts throwing out violent taunts like "You're gonna need more than sunscreen to stop me!" that imply more deliberation in attacking the village.
Both versions do start laughing maniacally as they approach the village, however, so the dub isn't wrong with their take. The gear-infected Meramon isn't coming this way by chance.
Evacuating the village, the kids usher the Pyocomon to take cover inside the wrecked ship. But while they're helping these Pyocomon, Sora's struck with a horrifying realization: Piyomon's still up there, at the top of the cliff that the lakeshore's become, guiding the Pyocomon. She won't leave until the rest of her village are safe.
The intensity of Piyomon's peril sends Sora racing for the cliffside to come get her, but she's too late. While the Pyocomon all make it out, Meramon catches Piyomon on the cliff's edge and takes a swipe at her, sending her tumbling down the cliff. Sora catches her at the bottom, and the two share a moment as Sora expresses how worried she was for her friend.
But, up at the top of the cliff, Meramon prepares to attack. As he forms a fireball in his hand for his Burning Fist attack, Piyomon flies back up to defend Sora.
Piyomon's signature move is Magical Fire, a green spiral flame that proves absolutely ineffectual against the ever-burning and Adult-stage Meramon. The dub calls it Spiral Twister. Meramon shrugs off the attack and blasts Piyomon out of the sky with his Burning Fist.
The others offer cover fire with such moves as Baby Flame and Petit Fire, all of which Meramon absorbs and grows larger. It takes the kids a moment to realize that fire isn't going to work out here.
The dub here offers a reminder that Meramon's a victim in all this. Dub Meramon exclaims, "Why do I suffer so!?" which Tai overhears and wonders the same; He wants to help Meramon but they don't know what's afflicting him.
As the now-colossal Meramon descends into the lakebed to assault the ship and kids, Piyomon picks herself off the ground. Seeing Sora in Meramon's path, she finds her second wind and refuses to give up.
Piyomon SHINKAAAAAA!!!
The dub takes the focus of that moment off of Sora. Biyomon exclaims, "We're all in trouble; Meramon cannot be allowed to win!" and then digivolves because "My friends need my help now!"
Birdramon's name at this point is fairly self-explanatory. She's a Bird Dragon Digimon.
Returning Meramon to the lakeshore, Birdramon tanks multiple Burning Fists before returning fire with her own signature move: Meteor Wing.
This does not get a dub name; At least, not in this episode. Whoever did the script for this episode seems to have not liked the whole attack-calling thing, as both Meramon's Burning Fists and Birdramon's Meteor Wing go completely unnamed. Meramon's attack calls are replaced with exertion grunts, while Birdramon's is replaced by high-pitched bird cries. Later episodes will have Birdramon call Meteor Wing by name, however.
Somehow, despite Meramon absorbing fire moves and growing stronger, hitting him with six massive fireballs does the trick.
Meramon doubles over in pain, returns to normal size, and ejects the gear from his back. The gear flies up into the air, then explodes in a puff of smoke. The kids all see the black gear, but they don't really understand what they're seeing. Still, Yamato wonders aloud if the gear was the problem here.
As usual, the dub kids are quicker on the uptake. Izzy and Tai both agree in much more confident terms that the gear drove Meramon mad. Matt relates; "If you had a big black gear stuck inside of you, you'd act a little crazy too."
Sora and Piyomon reunited, and Sora's overwhelmed with gratitude for Piyomon's protection. When Piyomon declares, "I love you, Sora!' again, it's met with an appreciative smile.
This moment's gushier in the dub, because Sora never had any reservations about their relationship to begin with. She spends her lines gushing that Biyomon's always there for her and that she's super proud of her.
Offscreen, the lake fills back up with water. The Pyocomon return to their village and unpack what happened with Meramon. He's as confused as they are. Still, they have no hard feelings over it and ask him to continue protecting Miharashi as he always has.
Despite the dub making the Yokomon terrified of Meramon and portraying him as a violent, territorial menace, this scene is played straight. "You're needed to protect Mount Miharashi!" they say of a 'mon they previously said burns up everything.
In any case, Meramon returns to his mountain and the water is restored. There's just one thing left to do: Let's get to that feast!
All the grain and birdseed you can eat!
The kids quickly agree that this is not people food. But also that they're starving and desperate, so dig in, everybody!
To varying degrees of acceptance. Mimi, in particular, cries out that she wants to go home, giving everyone a chuckle.
Ironically, the dub makes Mimi the most gracious. "Be polite and just eat it; A gracious guest never insults his host's cooking!" she says from offscreen, criticizing the others for their reluctance. Joe, meanwhile, refuses to eat, saying he's probably allergic anyway.
We close on Sora contemplating Piyomon, acknowledging that she really did evolve to protect her, just like she said she would. Dub Sora, again, had nothing to learn in this episode so she closes with the observation, "For being so little, she sure has a huge heart."
Assessment: The dub butchered this one. The previous episode seemed to be going a different direction with Matt, seeming to make him more abrasive to T.K. so he has room to grow. This one does the opposite; They erased Sora's entire character arc. Which is. Y'know. The plot of this episode. So.
Sora having trouble with Piyomon's displays of affection is our first glimpse at a deeper turmoil that will become important in later episodes, so I'm not happy about having that removed.
I do, however, like the mid-fight reminder of Meramon's affliction. And the dub also landed some solid jokes too; I particularly liked Matt sarcastically calling their surroundings the "Forest of Irrelevant Road Signs", conveying that he's starting to get irritated by the bizarre and inexplicable geography of File Island. So it does have a couple things going for it in this one.

Why it is too late for a Digimon Tamers sequel
Today marks the 24th anniversary for Digimon Tamers and I want to talk about one of those notions, that I see floating around the Digimon Fandom the most: "We want something like tri./Kizuna/Beginning for Digimon Tamers."
I kinda get the notion. After all, Tamers is easily the best written of the seasons. Its writing being quite tight, and the focus of the three main characters making it quite better paced than the other seasons. And while I do not loathe filler episodes these days as much as I used to, I absolutely appreciate how few filler episodes thise show has.
However, I feel that all in all, it just is too late to make a sequel to Digimon Tamers. After all, it has been 23 years now since that show ended. And something that I am fearing is that for the most part making a sequel to it would no longer work for several reasons.
Reason 1: Konaka himself, who originally wrote the show, is just no longer in a good mental place. I will not go too much into details, but there has been a lot of stuff that happened in the last 10 years that made him suffer from mental health issues. If you remember that audio live drama... Yeah, that is partly the place where this came from.
Now, you might ask: "So what? There are other authors, right?" Which brings me to the next issue.
Reason 2: Digimon Tamers has been a fairly Hard SciFi entry for Digimon, which usually tends to balance on the line between Scifi and Fantasy. And I sadly do not have a lot of trust in most other writers who might get handed a potential sequel OVA or movie to do this SciFi-aspects justice. And frankly, a Tamers' sequel that would not do the SciFi stuff would miss the certain something.
Reason 3: Now of course, if you have seen the Adventure-Sequel stuff, you will know that it too tried to tackle a lot of these more high concept conflicts. tri. had the entire Demiurge, Homeostasis thing going, Kizuna the entire Neverland thing, and The Beginning was basically retconning the epilogue centrally. (No matter if Kakudo says different. Because The Beginning definitely went: "Yeah, actually, everyone having their own Digimon partner would be a shit idea.") And yes, Tamers is kinda calling for high concept stuff as well - but the issue is that those high concepts would need a bit more SciFi rooting. I wrote about this before: Yeah, Tamers could easily go into Simulation Theory or something like that. But it would need to be done right. And given how torn the fandom is about anything in regards to the Adventure sequels... Uuuuhm, I don't think those succeeded.
Reason 4: It has been almost 25 years since we got any updates on that timeline. We have not heard anything from the Tamers in a while. In comparison, we got tri. 10 years ago already, priming folks for more Adventure/02 stuff. Which not only makes me wonder if people would show up enough for this, but also... Well, if the actors all showed up. Remember, while Nozawa Masako did some later Voice Work for Digimon, she absolutely did not want to do the work for Guilmon in the Xros Hunters episodes. Also, she is really old, and frnakly might die any time. And sure, you can probably recast, but would people accept it?
Reason 5: Digimon Adventure tri. sucked, and it had lore to work with that was way less complex than that of Digimon Tamers. (Look, even if you like Adventure/02 more than Tamers, you gotta admit that it was a lot more simple in regards to plot and worldbuilding, given it was a very standard Chosen One Hero's Journey.) So, chances are in general, that it would be really hard to write something that would work as a sequel here.
And yes, there are other reasons. Given how few people do right by Ruki in fanwork, I kinda feel like official media also would struggle with it. (I mean, Konaka did in the later audio plays.) I talked about this before. The entire thing about Ruki is that her disdain for "girly things" comes from her struggling with the relationship with her mother. While I do not see her become a girly girl, I also think it absolutely misses the point of her character to have her become a super hardcore masculine adult women.
And frankly, before I have to deal with a sequel-OVA that goes into the same non-sense as tri., I would rather not have a sequel at all.
And yes, I personally will openly admit, that I also just... Look, I spent those nearly 25 years since the show ended coming up with a whole bunch of headcanons (Ao3 Link) of what is going to happen to these characters and this world. And I think so did a lot of others. And frankly, I never appreciated works that after decades went: "Yeah, actually, new canon!"
The same frankly goes for Frontier and Savers as well. While neither of them go quite as high concept as Tamers - removing one of the points - I also would not want to see something that went off the rails with them. With Frontier having the additional challenge, that it is probably the season that has the most definite ending, with the kids giving up the Digivices and what not. While I would argue that it might be one of the more interesting concepts for a sequel (I mean, there are four spirits that never have been assigned), it is also the most limied, given how closed in of itself the plot was.
Savers of course is another thing. Because it has the big difference of Masaru ending the series in the Digital World, which would at least perfectly work as a hook for a movie or anything along those lines. While the general cautions still apply, this is probably the one thing I could see working the most.
Generally though... I think actually for either series I would prefer to just get a couple of shorts that are not that heavy in plot and more heavy on characters. We got those - obviously - for Adventure/02, but for no other season. And yeah, I think just 5 minutes shorts maybe published online... Maybe 5 or so for in fact every season since 02? That would be kinda nice. And I think that could work very well.

I'm really loving this poster and boy do I have a story behind it
So looking at all the paint splashes on everyone, this is my theory
All the DigiDestined and their Digimons have gathered for an art class for a weekend activity.
Everyone has picked a different canvas and style of art to do with their Digimon.
Everyone is in great spirits and having fun.
Mimi and Hikari are next to each other and are talking, giggling, gossiping and having a blast.
Tai overhears them giggling and wants to know the joke. Mimi and Hikari tease him and have fun. Tai splashes paint on them and the three of them begin to throw paint on each other.
Izzy who was next to Tai and Kari gets splashed and they all quite down because they think he will get angry.
Izzy surprised slowly wipes the paint from his face, while the three of them apologise. Very slowly he dips his paint brush in the can that Tentomon was holding and splashes paint on the three of them.
A full on paint war starts and Mimi goes to splash everyone with all the colours from her paint pallet.
Tai is running behind Agumon as the paint fight continues, because he was teasing Tai that Kari and Mimi got the better off him.
Sora was busy with her work and got splashed by Izzy, Mimi and Kari.
Mimi sees Yamato and Joe working on their art and goes quietly towards them and applies her paint on them.
Yamato starts running behind Mimi, laughing and wanting to splash her for covering him in green, blue and pink from her pallet.
Mimi runs and just as Yamato is about to spray his colour on her, she hides behind Joe, who is now also coloured in Yama's blue. Joe tries to get Yamato with his brush, but Yamato runs away.
Mimi comes later on and applies a green on his face as victory and Yama just smiles and lets her apply the paint.
And of course Takeru happily lets Mimi put paint on him
.
#yes i will find mimato crumbs everywhere#dont tell me this didnt happen#you know yamato wont let anyone but mimi apply paint on his face#i love how all of them are having so much fun#Joe and Izzy the usually serious ones are also having a blast#digimon rambling#digimon#mimato#taichi yagami#i love this so much

Headcanon/Theory: The Dark Spore/Dark Seed as "Malware" reaching through a weakened "Firewall" of negative emotions/mental health issues.
Thank you to @thewitch2077 for the interesting question and to @jamesthedigidestined for the fitting wording! Again, this is not a complete analysis of all of Ken's behaviour patterns, but basically my interpretation of how the "Digimon Kaiser persona" - as well as the personality changes of all the other kids affected by it - are explained.
I would actually say that this isn't a traditional Corruption arc - mental stability definitely plays a role, but only a triggering one.
The Dark Seed/Dark Spore implanted in Ken and the other children can be considered some kind of âmalwareâ. It already contains a code, so to speak, which contains basic characteristics: Aside from enhancing their human abilities, such as increased intellect and physical strength, etc. (like some kind of "steroid"), it also has severe side effects on the emotional state, such as, but not limited to: A superiority complex, narcissism, lack of empathy, very low threshold for aggression and violence. So as we can see with Ken and his actual Crest of Kindness - these traits represent THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE OF his personality structure. However, because he was emotionally vulnerable due to his grief, his guilt, his trauma regarding Osamu, because he had desires and his "inner firewall" was weakened, the malware was able to access him super easily and change him according to its code. Exactly the same thing happened with the other children - they all wanted to be as great as Ken, they were dissatisfied and therefore susceptible. It's the "dark side" of the wish-fulfilment trope, so to speak.
Meaning: "Most likely to corrupt" would probably have been Yamato and Sora during their Dark Cave moments - or even Taichi in Tri, which was even speculated at the time when the first Kaiser images were leaked in the promo material. (And it may have been possible even earlier, especially if you consider the sibling angle in comparison to Ken, how Hikari's health and Taichi's own reckless behaviour had affected his mental stability and how he was the first one to trigger a Dark Evolution.)
"Least likely to corrupt" - at least towards the end of 02 - are characters like Daisuke and Mimi. But it always depends on the personal resources and the resilience of the respective characters.
I also found this interesting excerpt from the novel - because Gennai also had a kind of Dark Seed in him (which, once again, corresponds to Taichi's arc in Adventure - and to the idea that Daisuke's character structure enabled him to NOT get swayed by either wishes or fears respectively):
Long story short - I believe that everyone infected with the Dark Spore/Seed with the disposition of letting it take over (with or without consent) would have displayed the same behaviour as the Digimon Kaiser. No matter who would have been affected. The only variable here would be just how damaged their own "Firewall" (= mental health) would have been.

An emergency call came from Penumbra.
Mirei quirked an eyebrow as that particular cyber sleuth seldomly contacted herâtypically sending reports in e-mail form. The Agency leader connected the call, lounging against her sinfully comfortable chair. âI assume there has been an update on the situation for you to contact me?â She proposed wondering how the virus-inclined half cyber girl would react.
The cyber sleuthâs own eyes narrowed as she displayed an image of the communication. A volcano spewed numerous purple material which Mirei recently knew as Dark Energon. Penumber level a questioning and pointed look at the Digilab operator, silently asking âIs this enough of an emergency for you?â
âOh, myâŠâ Mirei let a flicker of faint concern enter her voice. âThat certainly is unfortunate, but I donât believe itâs spewing anywhere populated. Do you really need support?â
For a moment, the younger human blinked passively at what she was attempting to do⊠A dark expression passed over Penumbraâs face as she brought up multiple news reports. Such hlobal catastrophe caused by a prophecy coming to fruition was all-encompassing.
Numerous Eater alerts were sounding off in the background of the Farmâs cyberspace.
ââŠVery well. I shall send a few Hackers to handle the disasters across the continents. One of which is from a cybertronian native universe.â The look of brief shock on the sleuthâs face would amuse her for a long time.
(âOh, that absolute bitch!â Pen mentally cursed the pragmatic, apathetic woman that was her technical boss and impersonal tormenter. âShe had someone else with cybertronian experience and didnât let me contact them.â)
âââââââââ
âDark energon and end times for Earth, but it isnât coming from space?â The Hudie Hacker familiar with cybertronians questioned, his two partner digimon a Veemon and Shoutmon looking through human sized datapads.
Pen could only nod as Ion filtered through newsfeeds attempting to see how bad the situation was becoming. âWeâre situated in the best detection system there is on this Earthâthe Nemesis itself.â She explained, seeing evident surprise on âJamboreeâsâ face. âOutside of it, there are no spaceships in or above Earthâs atmosphere. Itâs like the planet itself is turning against itself. Or Mother Nature?â
A few moments pass until Veemon spoke up sounding a bit unsure. âUh, you can go ahead and call me crazy⊠But if Primus can turn into Cybertronâs core, shouldnât his brother be able to do something similar?â He wilted at bit at both tamer-esc humans suddenly paying attention him. âNormal energon used to flow on the planet so Dark Energon flowing here.â
ââŠFuck.â/âDamnit.â
Well, Unicron had to end up somewhere and humans were chaotic by default⊠It made some sense despite them not wanting it too.
Jamboree pinched the ridge of his nose. âAnd thereâs even worse news if the Anti-Spark himself is Earthâs core.â The hacker began, bringing up a few images of supposedly his universeâs version of Unicron. âHe tried to consume my homeâs Earth⊠But, our Optimus told us there is this sorta cosmic balance thing between Primus and Unicron. You canât kill Unicron without also killing Primus. Hell, thatâs if you can even hurt the dark deity.â
âI had an idea for that, though it was scaled more toward Dark Energon revived individuals and not the source of the substance.â Pen supplied albeit very miserably at the further devolving situation. Things werenât exactly looking to be in Earthâs favor. âPrimus was poisoned by some of the substance getting thrown into his core⊠So, the inverse should damage Unicron? His brotherâs blood either detonated or staked into his internals.â
At best, it was a half desperate theory the cyber sleuth was hoping would allow attacks to do more than just tickle the ChaosbringerâŠ
âBetter than nothing at this point, itâll make certain attacks pack a blast! If you plan to make energon stakesâtry high or medical grade if you have any. Those tend to be the purest forms of energon out there.â Jamboree concurred before where he was started shaking a bit. âMy group will handle the disasters. Stall Unicron for as long as you can until the Bots can mount an attack on him. Hudie out.â
Right.
Her team just had to distract a god of chaos and destruction from acting. No problem.
Typical everyday sleuth things.
âŠFuck her half cyber life.
âââââââââ
In the depths of the Earth, below where humanity estimates the molten mantle to begin. A ground bridge opened upâwith a being resembling a train charging through. The Groundlocomon took off chugging unfettered from the lack of physical tracks. Magnitude barely grunted as Pathfinder (currently a Blossomon) clung tightly to his chassis.
Him, Path, Van in TigerVespamon stage, and Botanic (as the odd Lotusmon out) were the transport while the others stayed within him.
It was a weird sensation to have passengers, but he pushed it aside as they were beset by reanimated cybertronian and stage one Eaters. The Groundlocomon took pleasure in most getting run over unimpeding his travel.
I can just hear Mastemon sighing in the background and feel the eventual argument with Hudiemon later. This knowledge would have been helpful earlier before RoboSatan started to wake up. At least Optimus will have some backup and maybe someone to drop his amnesiac self back to the Autobots.

Misc. Headcanons - Digimon
NSFW under the cut as necessary
Magimon
So it's shown on multiple occasions that he and Wizardmon are two separate consciences (hence why he has his own section)
And he's suspiciously familiar with a good amount of things from the human world
Basically I think Wizardmon was the original, Lucy/Yeehaw was sad he couldn't really come back to the human world with her so she made Magimon as a vessel for him
His favorite movie is The Prince of Egypt, which eventually inspires his attack, Familiar Rain
Duskmon
I don't think he can actually see out of all those eyes. That would get real trippy coming from Impmon and especially going (presumably) into Reapmon
He also doesn't consciously only cry out of a specific eye. He tries to hold back the tears all over but the one on his left foot is the weak link
Chase did you actually count how many there are in the art or is it in the Reference Book somewhere or did you just pull the number 26 out of your @$$?
Also has an eyelid/scar on his chest as Impmon from where the Firewall impaled him
Monodramon
His preferred fighting style is based on his current partner. As to why that is, we'll get into my Purge Program theory another day
He likes headbutting things now bc ER has a thick skull, but he was âa big claw guy beforeâ as Meteromon put it bc Dragon Abbey was a boxer
Or maybe they were in roller derby
Actually scratch that, roller derby would probably give him a higher Flight stat
Could make for a cool second character tho Red
totally not saying that out of spite
I know Pyro needs to focus on his mental health and I respect that but why was THIS your solution?!
Wizardmon
I don't care what Pyro says about not wanting to risk misrepresentation, Wizardmon is absolutely autism-coded, *inhales* PUN INTENDED!
I have Asperger's and he reminds me of kid me like
He doesnât pick up on social cues, doesnât know a sarcasm when he hears it
he just like me fr
Sistermon Noir
Hehe, nun-binary
Any pronouns but prefers he/him as Salamon and she/her as Noir
Will step on you and then get pouty if you end up liking it
And not in a condescending way, she genuinely thinks thatâs messed up
Agunimon
He and Duskmon are so down bad for each other
I don't know when it started (as in when or if the players got the idea) but it just makes sense
âThat guy's tougher than he looks. He took down a Firewall.â *casually gives bf all the credit???*
Like, when they're Flamemon and Impmon it's obviously all âeww cootiesâ but once they Digivolve-
Would experiment writing eroguro w/ them, namely, eyeball licking. âWhat big eyes you have~âđ€Ł
Gargomon
There's actual paws under those big bulletey stubs. They retract into wristbands, he just doesn't know how to do it
âThe Devi's stay on during sex.â
I really wanted to put â[REDACTED]â instead but one of his Flaws is Blunt Iâm trapped

âYou baked those for a special occasion?â Yuna asked, noticing that Rui had just taken something off the oven and she asked him about what those were.
âYeah, I made them as a test,â Rui nodded with a smile, âI tried to not make them taste too sweet or too bitter.â
âHow did you get the right amount if you⊠Donât like sweets?â Yuna blinked. She asked that out of curiosity, but there was a bit of concern as well.
âUkkomon helped me,â and he gently gestured to the digimon, who floated towards her and did a polite bow.
âYup~ I like sweets so⊠I can be Ruiâs beta tester!â
âThat isnât the correct termâŠâ Yuna giggled, âYou meant a âtasterâ, Ukkomon.â
âAh⊠But I did think Daisuke called Rui like thatâŠâ Ukkomon scratched the top of his head.
âOh, about thatâŠâ Rui said, âHe didnât mean the food. Itâs a theory from Izumi-san I guess. Not everyone has a digimon and if everything started with us, maybe we were part of a âbeta testâ program?â
âAh I see, I see!â Ukkomon nodded, âYeah! The big thing Iâm part of said I was the first to be partnered with a human being! But they did say they wanted to⊠Make more humans get in touch with the digimon.â
âAll this talk about the digimon and such and youâre still not explaining what kind of âspecial occasionâ those cupcakes were made forâŠâ Yuna sighed, she was a little impatient due to her curious nature. That curiosity sometimes was kinda invasiveâŠ
âT-those are for my friendsâŠ!â Rui babbled quickly, yet afraid of making his cousin mad, âI⊠I think this is what the book said about keeping a healthy relationship with people.â
âBaking thingsâŠ?â
[...]
âYou should try one of these!â Ukkomon clasped his fins, âRight, Rui?â
âYeah, you shouldâŠ!â
âOh, okâŠ!â and she took one of those fresh baked cupcakes, giving it a better look at them, âSo, you made them all purpleâŠ?â
Rui and Ukkomon nodded.
âTheyâre blueberry flavored,â Ukkomon explained.
âPurple is a color of nobility and mysteryâŠ--â Rui added, trying to sound serious.
"And was the only food dye left after all the work from yesterday's batches!" Ukkomon added cheerfully.
â... and what he said,â he pouted embarrassedly.
Yuna chuckled, âOh right⊠We have to buy new suppliesâŠâ
