pasta, me starting to read the new chapter, see the word “naan” reading further AND SEEING JANE ACTUALLY USES HER HANDS TO EAT if it’s not obvious im ethnically *south* Indian so even tho most of the times indian food ends up being stuff from northern india, im still happy for any representation if that makes any sense- that being said, what’s your favorite dish? Also did you know that South Indian foods are primarily vegetarian and there’s lots of tasty as fuck shit you won’t find on a northern indian menu????
Aaaaah I'm so happy you enjoyed that! Eating with your hands and the naan bread was how I was taught to eat it the first time a friend introduced me to Indian food, so I was hoping that was accurate! 😅 And I totally get being excited to see a piece of that in a fic! In a place like NYC, one of the lovely things about it is you can get anything there since the city's so diverse. It's a massive melting pot and I try to show that in the food everyone's eating in the fic and i'm now living it since i've moved to a big city and can try EVERYTHING.
I did NOT it was primarily vegetarian but this makes SO much sense cause I've definitely spotted the difference between the menus! And as a vegetarian I'm always happy to not get a 'uuuh we have... a leaf we found outside? Vegetarians eat leaves right? You're an herbivore, we'll get you some leaves, TEDDY GO OUT AND SHAKE THE TREE AND GET SOME LEAVES.' And now I'm finally in a big city again that actually has both Northern and Southern Indian restaurants, including a south style like 2 mins away (old town had none, and closest town only had 2 northern Indian places, so I mostly only got southern when I was traveling). Favorite might be paneer chettinad, I could eat that all day, oh my god. 😩 OR MASALA DOSAS, holy SHIT those are good. Tried those at a street festival while traveling and I swear I ascended, turned my ass back around and ordered a second round, I need more. Still hunting for some here but I'm optimistic! I'm also happy to hear any recommendations if you have favorites. I'm slowly working through all the local southern places and their menus and there is so gd much to choose from now that I can access it. 😂
#ask response#the red thread#nyc has *everything* and so jane gets to eat all the things#and she does it right cause i figured with all her traveling she's learned all the different ways you eat it#now i want to order from the place down the road help 😂#very little has compared to the masala dosas i got at that street fair#i got back up the line to order more and the guy just laughed at me#he gave me an extra little tub of this chutney WHAT WAS IT SIR 'secret recipe' SIR PLEASE#that or the paneer chettinad (or chicken when i ate meat) and i could die happy

okay venba thoughts again!!
it was quite a short game but it was so good! i loved the colors and the art style and figuring out recipes! i felt overly proud of myself in the biryani level when i identified all the spices in venba's memory on sight lmao, but it just illustrates how well-made the game is that cardamom and cloves are easily recognizable
and all the late night conversations... the game is so much more than fun cooking game. i loved seeing paavalan's growth to the point where he's helping venba with the meal prep. and venba at the end doing what's best for herself. and kavin's struggle with deciding who he wants to be. it was a story that made my heart ache and at some points i nearly cried and it was just. aaaaah. everything i've wanted these last few years. plus the music slaps.
also venba dunking on pizza was hilarious
#life and times#paavalan listing just different types of dosa was really good too. man knows what he wants

Jason Todd x South Asian!Reader HCs
requested | reader is fem, i tried to keep it non-specific so it applies to the whole region, not just india, hopefully i succeeded😬 read dick's hcs here !
i looooved writing this it was so much fun. drop an ask with anything else you want to see!!
When you show him Bollywood movies, at first he’s like “Why are these so damn long?” But watches them anyway because you’re so excited to show him
He obviously sobs at K3G (because he has daddy AND big brother issues)
But his favorite is probably 3 Idiots or Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (he just seems like the type to looove an underdog story am I right)
Since Jason likes cooking, he’s learning how to make all your favorite foods. He’s eaten a lot of Indian food before (duh, it’s New Jersey), so he’s familiar with the flavors and spices, but some dishes are easier than others. He tries to make dosa after you mentioned liking it but it does not go well
He’s trying so hard to impress you but they all keep breaking😭 and the ones that don’t break come out burnt. When he finally relents and lets you help him, you hold his hand and guide him to make the proper movements; pouring the batter, spreading it into a circle, and gently flipping it so it doesn’t break
He loves chai, and is always experimenting with different recipes and flavors and asking you to test them
You're taking him to the Indian market so often, by the end of the month he knows the names for all the vegetables and spices in your language and where to find them
He thinks you with mehendi/henna is the most attractive thing ever
Your friend’s getting married? Of course he’ll feed you while your mehendi’s drying, you don't even have to ask
When it's still fresh and at its darkest color he's actually going batshit insane (pun intended); he loves interlacing your fingers together and seeing the contrast of your dark, decorated fingers against his large, strong ones. His phone background is a selfie of you guys where your faces are squished side-by-side and one of your mehendi'd hands is cupping his cheek
And when you're on top of him, the sight of your adorned hands pressed flat against his bare chest, flushed and heaving...he thinks it belongs in a museum
He just loves doing little acts of service; one day you’re complaining offhandedly to him about how the price of eyebrow threading keeps going up, a week later you’ve forgotten all about it but he’s like “I learned how to thread your eyebrows”
He figured it would be easy enough, and as someone who’s life often depends on steady, surgical aim and precision, it is
Roy’s walking around looking messed up as fuck for a couple weeks but that’s beside the point because he’s got the hang of it now
When it comes to putting on a sari, he'll put the pins in the hard to reach places if you ask, but for the most part he just loves watching you put it on. he thinks it's so cute the way you scrunch your face in focus as you make the folds and tuck in the fabric with such concentration (Jason Todd domesticity agenda)
One night you're getting dressed up for some party, but no matter what you do and how many times you take it off and try to re-drape it, it just won't come out good and you get so frustrated and teary-eyed that he has to intervene
He makes you take a break, brings you a snack, and kisses you until you feel better, and then he pulls up a youtube video to do it for you— but he can't do it either😭
So you both decide to give up and you wear a lehenga instead
It’s a fairly modest one, and even though he's seen you wearing more-revealing clothes (and none at all), he's going crazy over that one inch sliver of exposed skin on your midriff
He already loves seeing you dressed up in traditional wear but if you put jasmine flowers in your hair with it??? The fragrance coming from you makes him feral. It lingers in your hair for a couple days and he can’t stop following you around and sniffing you LMAO
The first time you get a kurta for him, it’s actually impossible to find one that fits because he’s so big and buff (drool) so you just end up buying the fabric and getting it custom stitched
There's only a few scraps of the fabric left and you get the wonderful idea of braiding the scraps into a bracelet so you have something to match with him and it makes him go crazy
Early on in your relationship, you’re a little afraid to have oil in your hair in front of him because you’re worried he’ll think the smell is too strong
Jason is probably familiar with the practice of hair oiling from his time with Talia (but you don’t know that yet)
He actually LOVES when you oil your hair around him. Just something about him being the only one who gets to see you when you’re comfy and unready is so intimate to him and makes him feel so special and trusted and loved🥹
Time for some of my physical touch x touch starved!Jason propaganda
After a particularly difficult night of patrolling, he comes to you stressed and anxious and unsure what to do with himself. So you make him sit on the floor in front of your bed, warm up some of the oil, and seat yourself on the edge of the mattress. He leans back against your legs and you massage the warm oil into his scalp. It feels heavenly. You’re using the perfect amount of pressure, hitting all the right spots, and it feels so good he wants to cry. Later, when you pull him into the shower to shampoo it out, he actually does cry, hoping the water falling from the shower head hides the tears (it doesn’t, and it breaks your heart)
(If you were raised Hindu) I think he'd be very interested in the belief in reincarnation, past & future lives, oneness with the universe, etc...it might help him make some sense of his coming back
You bring mediation into his life, and that also really helps him
You wear Kajal/kohl/surma on your eyes, and whenever he’s looking especially good, or before he goes out as red hood, you smudge some onto your finger and put a mark behind his ear, just to be safe (it’s believed to deflect jealousy/bad intentions from others) (yes I’m superstitious sue me)
Or you just tie a black thread around his ankle
When you first explain to him that you want him to wear a black thread around his ankle because of a superstition, he thinks you’re joking. He can’t believe you actually believe in that
But he can’t say no to you and he secretly likes that you also have one so it feels like you’re matching
He considers it a good luck charm, not because he believes the superstition but because it’s from you

(South) Indian Harry Potter Headcanons:
Harry knew he was Indian (mostly because the Dursley’s used to say racist shit to him) but he didn’t know where in India the potters were from until he went to Hogwarts. He finds out from the Patils, who were close with the potters because desis stick together.
The Patils are from the north and use Hindi to speak to each other. Neither of them knows Telugu/Tamil/Marathi/Malayalam/insert Southern language of choice here (I personally headcanon Telugu because it’s the only Indian language I speak and because there’s a huge diaspora of telugumandi in the west, but feel free to choose whatever you’d like). So Harry has to rediscover his heritage language on his own.
He also studies Sanskrit, and it opens up a HUGE world of spells that they don’t teach at Hogwarts (because of course Indian wizards don’t do spells in Latin). He and the Patils know a bunch of spells that nobody else does.
Harry’s pleat game is ON POINT. It makes sense, since he had to do all the chores at the Dursley’s and that includes perfectly folded and ironed laundry with the edges aligned neatly, or else he would risk being punished. But the result is that if you want your saree drape to pass the inspection of even the most judgemental auntie, you go to Harry to help with your pleats.
Even when they’ve graduated and all have their own homes, it’s a pretty regular sight for the Patil twins to come through Harry’s floo, half dressed, to have Harry pleat their sarees or their lehenga dupatta for them.
Harry LOVES spices. The dursleys only liked bland food, but Harry has always liked flavorful foods, and has no problem with (hot) spicy food either. He uses lots of spices in his own cooking now. His food is very flavorful, but when he’s cooking for himself, it’s too spicy for all his friends (even the Patils). So nobody can eat his leftovers unless he was specifically cooking with other people in mind. Ron learned this the first time he rummaged through Harry’s fridge after a night of drinking. Now Harry labels all his food as to whether or not it’s “Harry spicy”.
James LOVED to buy Lily sarees. He’d order them with custom, wizard-themed designs from weaving villages in south India. The women who made them assumed he was just very imaginative, so he wasn’t violating the statute of secrecy since saree patterns are often vibrant and unique. Harry finds some of them in the old potter manor, and they still smell like the perfumes and scented oils his mother would wear when James took her to the local temple for Hindu holidays.
Indian witches often store extra magic in or enchant pieces of their copious jewelry with spells that can keep them safe if they’re ever in a situation where they don’t have their wands. stuff like, each bangle can function as an emergency portkey that can take you to different safe locations if you say the activation word, or ones that create an instant magical shield when you tap them. Harry finds some of his mothers gajulu, gives them to his female friends.
He ties Rhaki on Ron and Neville, and all the weasley boys. Ron was the first person he ever tied it on, because Ron was the first person who he ever bonded with, and his closest brother.
Harry always cooks idli sambar or dosa for his friends for breakfast the next morning after a night of drinking together, and it’s the perfect hangover food because it definitely brings you back to full alertness/knocks the last bit of post-hangover grogginess right out of your system.
Harry’s parselmouth abilities are valued in his native culture because of the sacredness of snakes in Hinduism, and it comes to be something he’s really proud of (personally I think the ‘parselmouth connected to the horcrux’ thing is dumb, so I’ve always imagined Harry was just naturally a parselmouth).
As the number of Indian immigrants/expats continues to grow after they graduate, Harry helps some of his students (he’s the DADA teacher) start the Hogwarts “South Asian Student Union”.
He always has snacks out for his students when they come to visit his office hours, and they’re all Indian snacks and sweets. His personal favorite is kaju barfi, but he always has a good variety of both sweet and spicy treats, especially for stressed out owl and newts students.
He collaborates with Hermione, who works in the ministry, to make it mandatory for Hogwarts students to a “foreign magical language” course so they can broaden both their minds and their spell repertoires. Padma Patil becomes the “Sanskrit Spells” teacher, and Seamus teaches “Irish Gaelic”. (It took him a little longer to get his course started, since it turns out that at least 40% of Gaelic spells are just increasingly complicated and violent ways to repel the English).
Hermione and Harry also work together to make sure there are employees in the international magical cooperation department who specialize in post-colonial relations, because the magical world also has its issues with that colonialist mindset towards countries that were formerly part of the empire.
Just south Indian Harry embracing his heritage, learning about what was ripped from him, and using it to enact meaningful change in a multicultural magical society.

i keep seeing people getting a little confused about the titles and terms used in rotbb so i thought id make a quick little guide on the more common titles and pre/suffixes used in the novel/manhwa
for minor context, members of a sect may take on the names that denote which generation they come from within the sect (current mount hua consists of, in order from eldest to youngest, the hyun line, the un line, the baek line, and the chung line, though the true generational naming convention would have typically been chung > myung > hyun > un > baek, which would then repeat in a cycle) however taking on a generational name isnt necessarily required/enforced (ex. yu iseol, yoon jong, jo gul, etc do not take on generational names)
in his previous life, because chung myung was raised in the sect since infancy, he took on the chung generational name as his ‘birth’ name, as the chung line was the generation he was raised in. when he reenters mount hua post resurrection, he becomes a third class disciple, aka the current era chung disciples
TITLES
jangmun: sect leader, jangmun'in is used when speaking directly to the sect leader (ex. hyun jong, chung mun)
sasuk: senior martial brother, used by disciples of a different rank to senior disciples of higher ranking (ex. the chung disciples referring to the baek disciples, the baek/chung disciples referring to the un disciples)
sajil: junior martial brother, used by disciples of a different rank to junior disciples of a lower ranking (ex. the un disciples referring to the baek/chung disciples, the baek disciples referring to the chung disciples)
sasukjo: great martial uncle, used by disciples referring to the line above sasuk
sajo: martial grandparent/ancestor
sason: martial grandchild/descendant
sahyung: senior martial brother, used by disciples within the same rank to disciples who entered the sect earlier than them (aka chung myung referring to the elder chung disciples, chung disciples referring to yoon jong)
sajae: junior martial brother, used by disciples within the same rank to disciples who entered the sect after them (ex. the chung disciples referring to the chung disciples)
sajeo: senior martial sister, same as sahyung but used for women
sago: senior martial sister, same as sasuk but used for women (ex. tang soso referring to yu iseol)
samae: junior martial sister, same as sajae but used for women (ex. baek cheon referring to yu iseol)
dojang: disciple (ex. older characters use this to refer to chung myung/disciples of a sect)
hyung: meaning older brother, used by males when referring to their older brother or to an older male colleague one is friendly with
hyeonja-bae: referring to the hyun generation
unja-bae: referring to the un generation
baekja-bae: referring to the baek generation
cheongja-bae: referring to the chung generation
maehwa geomjon: plum blossom sword saint
hwasan shinryong: mount huas divine dragon
amjon/amzone: dark saint
maknae: used to refer to the youngest person in a group of people
PRE/SUFFIXES
-ah: a suffix that denotes casual familiarity typically used for those who are younger than the speaker or are of the same social standing, used at the end of a name if the name ends in a consonant (ex. hyun jong calls chung myung ‘chung myung'ah’)
-ya: a suffix that denotes casual familiarity typically used for those who are younger than the speaker or are of the same social standing, used at the end of a name if the name ends in a vowel (ex. chung myung calls tang bo ‘tang bo'ya’)
-nim: a respectful suffix that essentially means mr/mrs/miss
dosa: meaning taoist (ex. tang bo typically refers to chung myung as hyung nim/dosa hyung/dosa hyung nim)
-jon: a title given to martial artists who have mastered their respective martial arts perfectly, the most honourable title a warrior could get, translated to as ‘saint’ in the novel or 'supreme' in the manhwa (ex. plum blossom sword saint, dark saint)
please keep in mind however im not fluent in korean nor am i fully familiar w these terms of address and am using my knowledge of chinese honorifics and titles as they follow a similar formula.. if ive mislabeled something or used an unfaithful/misleading description, or if you just have more to add that i havent listed, please lmk!
#return of the blossoming blade#return of the mount hua sect#rotmhs#rotbb#화산귀환#made this specifically so i can stop seeing manhwa only readers referring to chung mun aka chung myungs brother/father figure as jangmun..#HIS NAME IS CHUNG MUN...!!!!!! JANGMUN JUST MEANS SECT LEADER...!!!!!!!!!!!!#will never understand why the eng manhwa translated sahyung to brother but didnt even bother translating jangmun...?#so now we've got people out here STILL thinking his name is jangmun when chung myung was actually referring to him as jangmun sahyung#aka elder martial brother sect leader (literally).. or just brother sect leader#spent like an hour writing all this down..yalld better appreciate this

A snippet from The Name of the Game.
“What are you, a lesbian?” Sirius asked, frustrated at the girl who had avoided him the whole day.
His words caught you off guard, making you stop in your tracks. Sirius Black has been following you the whole day and you have had enough of him. You turned to face him, raising an eyebrow at his audacity. You had purposefully been avoiding him because of his arrogance, which was becoming tiresome. It had nothing to do with your sexual orientation, which was definitely none of his business.
“What did you just say?” You snapped, your voice laced with annoyance.
“I said, what are you, a lesbian?” Sirius repeated, his tone smug.
You scoffed, unable to believe his ignorance and lack of common sense.
“Don't you think you're just not my type?”
Sirius looked taken aback, the cocky smirk on his lips fading momentarily. He had assumed that every girl would be swooning over him, but you were different. You refused to be swayed by his charm and good looks. But instead of backing down, Sirius became even more determined.
“Come on L/n, tell me, how do I get you? How do I even win you? What’s your secret, huh?”
You were absolutely fed up with him, he was getting on your nerves and it made you want to just punch him, but you decided to play along with his little game.
A mischievous smile played on your lips as you stepped forward, a seductive look in your eyes. You grabbed Sirius' tie, pulling him closer, making him gulp nervously—clearly not expecting you to do that. You stood on your toes, trying to reach his full height.
“Well, that’s a secret I don’t tell little boys.” you whispered in his ear, your warm breath sending shivers down his spine. “The question is, are you man enough to find out?” You let go of his tie and took a step back, a smug smirk that could rival his spread on your lips, before sauntering away.
Sirius stood there, flabbergasted. He had never met a girl like you before, and it was both frustrating and intriguing. You had a confidence and independence that he found both maddening and irresistible. He had never been rejected like this before. He couldn't believe that you were the only person who was immune to his charms.
The plan to make Y/n L/n was a bit harder than he initially thought.

the librarians "and the curse of cindy" s3e7 watch through:
[as the librarians all appear running out a door] ezekiel: "we really need to find wider doors". lol i love how they lampshade all the little stuff like that.
ooh so is flynn grifting, or under the weird spell? how can the team be sure? interesting
the cyndi chant is really catchy. C-Y, N-D-I, for you, we would die :)
why is DOSA here and why are they helping this woman?? are they under the spell as well?
"food physicist" leverage reference lowkey
ah, a love (obsession) potion.
jenkins applying the awful-smelling salve to ezekiel just to mess with him lol. i love u jenkins.
huh, that’s a cool different spin on ezekiel being egotistical: he actually does love himself, which is not the worst thing in the world! often shows have the moral of "thinking too highly of yourself can be harmful" which can be true of course. but you rarely see the flip side, that sometimes having extremely low self esteem doesn’t just make you humble or shy or whatever, it can have negative effects on people around you and ruin your relationships.
ezekiel backstory! we haven’t heard all that much of his backstory so far, at least not his childhood i mean. we know about the thief life but not so much before that.
ezekiel "eeny meeny miney moe"-ing to find the missile launch shut down button lmaooo
aww ezekiel saying he loves his team & that loving them has been beneficial for him. cute. this has been a very ezekiel focused episode.
ooh love interest or one off kiss??
UH ezekiel still has some love potion? UM. UH. UM. WORRYING. WHY.

LMAO YOU GOT REQUESTS OPEN SO I SHALL DELIVER
So during the canon events of My Hero Academia, during the summer camp, the students had to make their own food- and so if I remember correctly, they made curry.
Now my Desi ass is thinking, curry in Japan is most definitely different than curry in India so if we got a Desi reader in there, she would most definitely be a little more than disgruntled at the difference.
Ahem anyways - Bakugou x f!desi!reader who sees our blondie start to make curry and then not only insults his cooking but show him how it’s ACTUALLY done /lh (Lmao no offense to anyone of Japanese culture, I bet your curry is amazing too <3 I just prefer what I grew up with 🤪)
But like imagine his surprise when he tastes our Indian curry and is shocked that it’s not only spicy and full of flavor but better than his????
And then when they get together you can bet he begs reader to teach him more about Indian cuisine 🤍
Hnnnnnggggggg THE WAY EACH TIME I SEE JAPANESE CURRY I CRINGE- (no offense to Japanese people or their cuisine but the dishes with same names but vastly different flavours are very wince-inducing) so yes queen, I will deliver this.
"What on God's ever green Earth are you doing?"
Bakugou turned around to look at you looking over your shoulder in slight disgust.
"I'm putting in the oyster sauce-"
He watched as you comically gagged.
"Oyster sauce? In chicken curry?"
His jaw ticked as you watched him with disgust, his mouth forming a scowl.
"Do you think you're better than me, you damn extra?!-"
"I am at making chicken curry, that's for sure."
Bakugou physically took a step back at the callous remark you just made. He knew you bit back to his quips but this was the first time your statement held a challenge behind it.
Bakugou stood up straighter, moving away from the stove.
"Oh yeah? Prove it then. Put your money where your mouth is."
You huff and roll up your sleeves, tying your hair up in a ponytail. You step closer to the stove and keep aside the curry that he was working on.
"Let's not touch that fishy thing lest it CONTAMINATES my chicken curry. Okay first things first, we need the good old Garam Masala."
Bakugou snorted. "We're in the middle of a forest, genius. Where are you going to get Garam Masala from?"
You grinned. "Good thing I always keep a packet on hand then!"
He watched you slack-jawed as you skipped to your bag and came back with an opened packet of garam masala. You started working on your curry, salvaging some of the chicken from the other batches of Japanese curry being made. The whole area soon filled with the aromatic fragrance of your delicious boiling chicken curry as you worked determinedly. Bakugou watched your every move, begrudgingly admiring you.
After you were somewhat done, you poured some of the curry into a small dish for Bakugou to taste. He frowned at it and sniffed it, before taking a small sip while maintaining eye contact with you.
Your smug grin widened as Bakugou's face lit up at the bomb of flavours going off on his tongue.
"Okay... woah..."
You laughed and fist bumped the air.
"Woah indeed. That's the taste of India right there. I hope my cooking skills did my ancestors some semblance of justice-"
"It's incredible."
You smiled softly at his sincere admission and soon your classmates started swarming you for a taste of your curry.
Some said it was too spicy but no one said it was bad. Everyone agreed that it was very damn good, even those who couldn't handle the spice.
"I'd pair this with puttu and my life would be complete as that as my only meal for the rest of my life."
Bakugou looked up at you as he scarfed down his helping of rice and your curry.
"Isn't that a steamed rice cake or something?"
You smiled brightly. "Yeah! It's a staple food of the south! Ooo you know what would really bang? Dosa and chicken curry! God damn if only I had some urud on hand..."
The night continued with laughter and games as dinner melted into a huge sleepover. After mostly everyone had gone to sleep, Bakugou approached you.
"Hey, dumbass. Don't get it too over your head or anything but... your curry was good, okay? And I... I liked it." He pushed out through gritted teeth. He pushed his hands into his pocket and looked away.
"So, I'd like to know how you made the damn curry."
You looked at him with a wry smile. "Are you asking me for the recipe?"
"Tch! I don't ask for shit! Now give me the recipe!"
Your smile turned smug as you crossed your arms.
"Only if you say please"
Holy shit it's done!!!!! I'm so sorry for the late post but I really hope you liked it!! Thank you for the idea too.

I need to gush about my upcoming game
[Alt text: A graphic with floral corner borders in the bottom left and top right corners with Chefs de Partie written in the center. Above the title reads hashtag Chefs de Partie. Below the title reads served on January 24th 2024 only at DriveThruRPG.]
Chefs de Partie is a co-op minigame for your ongoing RPG campaign that runs on Iron Core. Gather your party and cook a meal together, narrating your successes and failures with either heavenly or disastrous results.
This one page game includes the core rules (written by me) and six recipes that demonstrate how the game interacts with four different systems: D&D 5e, Blades in the Daek, Fate Core, snd Lasers & Feelings. The recipes are written by some of TTRPGs rising stars (literally my dream team!!!):
Austin Taylor, of Secret Mysteries of Nerd Histories fame whose game design you'll have seen in Deimos Academy and Til the Last Gasp
Basil Wright, a Storytelling Collective 2023 Creative Laurette and game designer of Pelegos
Danny Quach, author of Digital THICCNESS, AP superstar, and Roll20 angel
DT 'Honey' Saint, whose food based TTRPG contributions I've admired since she DMed Spice of Life at Roll20 Con three years ago, and whose charity work "Honeybunches of Hope" is incredible
Erin Roberts, a game design role model of mine whose name you may know from Journeys Through the Radiant Citadel
Poorna M, one have of Weave Games, who recently made one of my all time favourite games, a Christmas rom com duet called Love is on the Cards with her design partner Armaan Babu
As if that wasn't enough, we've got the one and only Nala J Wu on graphic design (they have perfectly brought to life my vision of a restaurant menu for the layout) and Marielle Ko from Tales of Sina Una as our editor!
Biggest one page RPG? Maybe (it's A2 dimensions)
Most designers on a one page RPG? Possibly
But cooking is best done with friends and I've implemented that philosophy throughout the creation process. I'm so freaking hyped to bring the world this game (the recipes range from brioche cinnamon rolls to podi masala dosa) because the dish descriptions are something incredible!
My hope is that we reach 51 sales* in the first month. With royalty split and $3.95 per sale, my writers should make $0.10 a word if we reach our target goal. I've priced this so everyone gets paid fairly.
*at full price. There will be options in the game description to buy the game for 50% or 100% off because games shouldn't be gatekept by disposable income.
This game is a little silly downtime activity and I love every contribution with my whole heart. I'm so excited for it to release next month and I hope you consider buying it if you can!

Appreciation and theory for Dosa 💗
If you are looking at my blog, I don't want to make you disappointed if you hate Dosa, because I like her. Listen up, she's Baby girl. It's not her fault that her character got exaggerated in the anime.
First of all, she's beautiful. Compared to her friends who are humanoid, she looks different but she's definitely attractive the same way we think alien characters or animal characters are good looking. I think that Dosa is just as beautiful as the other girls. I love her eyelash and lips.
2. Dosa comments on everything romantically and I think that's funny and fitting for her character. She's in love but has no idea who to choose lmao. That gave me an idea, she looks like a key hole.
All key holes look alike but keys look different. It's confusing when we try to unlock a door for the first time using different keys for the first time. Likewise we don't know who holds the key to Dosa's heart. It also makes me think that Nishi could actually make her a door to something in another level.
3. I let you know that Dosa is important to me because she is one of Goemon's and Picero's friends. Something or someone precious to Goemon is precious to me too.
4. I tried to know why people dislike and even hate her and my findings are:
She's annoying, irritating, show off, over dramatic etc. Like, they even say that she was totally unnecessary and useless.
I believe that Nishi created her for a purpose. She is a comedy character. Sometimes Dosa does stuff that's not in the manga but didn't you laugh when you saw her first encounter with Azz?
She was going in for a kiss but Azz put her down like the gentleman he is. That scene was so funny 😂
Again this at Iruma's and Ameri's date.
Dosa is dating a hot guy who looks like a werewolf. he rejected all other pretty humanoid girls for dosa?! Don't go that far. Sometimes there's no need to take everything seriously. This is just intended for laughter. And good for dosa. She managed to sac a hairy hot guy.
She is hated for her encounters with Azz. In the third season too, she is seen to be kissing and sucking Azz's coat. It's not in the manga, the animators did it. My sister and I laughed when we saw that. Come on guys, that scene was just funny and not intended for taking seriously.
5. She represents the AgaGaap or GoeCero fandom. Be thankful.
Dosa said that and it's not in the manga. Everyone ships Agares and Gaap and the Japanese fandom is the most active. The animators gave fan service by doing this. When someone who ships them say they hate Dosa I think "what personal problem do you have with her? Do you personally know her to say you hate her?". Hate is a strong word. Using it against something you barely know about is illogical to me.
6. A pretty clown
I love the rainbow lipstick 🌈 when someone asks me what my favourite colour is I say rainbow because I see it as one. If I got the lipstick I'd try it too.
You can't deny that Dosa makes you laugh. I believe that mairuma is made for all ages and someone under the age of 10 watching this would definitely laugh and enjoy it.
Please give her a chance

The Cult of Twins
Twins (marassa), living and dead, are endowed with supernatural power which makes them exceptional being. In the voodoo pantheon they hold a privileged position besides the grand mysteres. Some people would even claim that they are more powerful than the loa. They are invoked and saluted at the beginning of a ceremony immediately after Lega; in some regions, notably Leoagne, they even come before him.
Any family which includes twins, either among its living members, or in one of its ancestral lines must, under pain of 'chastisement', serve them with offerings and sacrifice. Sometimes a family reeling under a series of misfortunes learns form a hungan (voodoo practitioner) that it has been neglecting twins far back in its ancestry 'at the time of Guinea'. A child counts as a twin when it is born with webbed feet, for this is a sign that it has 'eaten' its brother in the womb...
The child who follows twins immediately in order of birth (the dosu if itis a boy, dosa if it is a girl) unites in its person the power of both twins and there can dispose of greater powers than they. 'The dosu is stronger than the marassa and stronger than the loa.' Hence he is treated with the greatest respect and in the event of offerings being made, he as the precedence over the twins, On the other hand, the child born before twins = the chuket or dosu avant - has no great standing, though it is said of him that he 'dragged the twins after him'
The presence of twins in a family involves its members in constant attentions and thousand precautions. It takes very little to make a twin turn against his parents and, as is his wont, 'grip' them in the stomach - that is to say inflict serious trouble upon their intestines. It is true that twins are to prepared to be punished for some fault which they have really committed, but they take cruel revenge if they think they have been unjustly treated...
A worker employed at Marbial told us that he and his twin sister almost killed their mother for refusing them a dish of crabs and gomboes which their father, out of concern for their health, had advised her not to give them. The boy placed a stick in the moist earth beside a tree and each day he went and pushed it in a little farther. His mother fell dangerously ill and would have died if the twins, as the result of family entreaties, had not acknowledges the wrong they were doing. They were offered a feast and a pig was killed...
It is normal for twins to hate each other: 'Marassa yo raisab' (twins dont get on) is a proverbial saying. At marbial I knew a boy Andreno and a little girl Andreni, who were twins in a large and poor family. Each of them grew with difficulty for want of adequate food; but the little girl was bigger and stronger than he Brohter. The parents said she was 'eating' her brother and explained that the two children had dedicated themselves to mutual hatred before they even saw the light of day. The moment she war born Andreni had tries to strangle Andreno by looping the umbilical cord around his neck - to such good effect that as he came into the world Andreno found himself 'hanged like a young goat'. Usually when twins are of different sex it is the boy who prospers, at the expense of the girl.
Twins can hardly be too carefully supervised if they are to be precented from harming each other. As soon as one of them shows signs of failing, the other is implored to give up his criminal intention. At meals, when they are not looking, parents seize the opportunity of switching round their plates so that each ears the food of the other - which has the effect of restoring a good relationship.. They also get given a dose which has the power of changing the hated they feel for each other into affection. Such is the power of twins that no one will make take any steps against one twin who causes the death of the other; indeed, people will even take care not to show him the slightest resentment.
Twins must be treated exactly alike if jealousy is to be avoided. Their clothes must be identical, their share of food equal and any praise exactly divided between them. As to twin sisters, they must be married as far as possible at the same time. if a woman with a twin brother marries, she and her husband will load him with presents to obliterate any possible resentment he may secretly feel. Even death does not break the ties which links twins together. The survivor puts to one side, for the deceased, a symbolic portion of whatever he eats or receives by way of presents. Herakovitz traced these practices to that belief, so widespread in West Africa, which attributes but one shared soul to twins.
The power of marassa is not entirely negative. Certainly their ill-will i all the more to be dreaded for being sometimes involuntary. But provided they are happy and satisfied, they turn the strength which is in them to good account. Their intervention is often sought on behalf of the sick; in serious cases recourse may be had to ancestral marassa who, either by dreams or by medium, will prescribe appropriate remedies
-Voodoo, Metraux
Thoughts:
ive never heard of anything like this! i might read a book i found about twins. very interesting and strnage. this sort of "born shaman" feature is odd. the whole thing is odd, and interesting. also the parent/child power inversion is something i havent seen before
i know the igbo are veyr anti twin, so its interesting that partially-igbo-descended haitian culture is so pro-twin

Character Info:
Reyu grew up in the bustling city of New York, specifically in Jackson Heights, with only her working single mother to raise her. This was because shortly after Reyu turned 7 years old, her parents had divorced, and to make matters worse, her father just up and left, wanting no contact and no part in raising Reyu. To be so clearly unwanted by her father was a sting that burned her to her core. However, her mother was undeterred by her ex-husband’s lack of involvement, she was a strong woman and she would see to it that Reyu understood that she was loved by her and she would do her best to shape her into an independent and strong young lady herself.
Reyu greatly admired her mother, and though there was still an ache in her heart, she did her best to be strong, moreso for her mother’s sake, to assure her that she was doing a good job on her own. Reyu could tell how tiring it could be for her mother, having to provide for the both of them on her own, having to work double jobs, having to do long hours, just to keep moving forward. It’s why Reyu did her best to do her part and work hard in school, to make sure she had top grades her mother could be proud of, to participate in activities that would show her mother that her efforts weren’t in vain. Reyu didn’t want to become a burden to her mother, she couldn’t. So she had to be someone worth sacrificing so much for. She had to repay everything her mother did for her.
Reyu has the goal of becoming an affluent and well-established Family Lawyer. A goal she pursues by looking up qualifications she’ll need and doing her best to prepare herself for law school, maintaining her GPA, making connections, doing research, joining her school’s debate team, and even earning herself an internship for a law firm.
But she never does make it to her internship, instead, she finds herself inside a coffin and in a completely different world.
Personality:
Reyu is, of course, hardworking when it comes to her studies and is often reading one thing or another, always expanding her knowledge although she would already be considered intelligent, she knows learning doesn’t have an end point.
She can be quick-witted as well, having grown up in the city, her mind is constantly on the go and ready to react to one situation or another. Though, being in Twisted Wonderland, even she finds herself taken aback at the things that occur. Still, she strives to remain practical and calm when she can.
Though Reyu is kind and soft-hearted, she tends to be prone to a sarcastic and sometimes snarky front that she’s mostly adopted to keep herself from getting too emotionally attached and distracted away from her goal in pursuing a successful career as a lawyer. (She tries to anyways, but she ends up getting attached easily anyways thanks to being a softie)
But, she’s still a helpful and caring person, and she’s very forthcoming about following her personal principles. One such being that just because the world sucks doesn’t mean one needs to make it worse. She’d be the first to accept there’s a lot wrong in the world, but she’ll still be the first to do the honorable thing and do right by people who need it, even if she gains nothing from it and even if said people might not deserve it. (With few exceptions of course, these are still her own personal principles so she can change it as she sees fit)
Overall, Reyu is a self-reliant, sometimes strict, yet responsible, protective and trustworthy person.

Pencho rant time
Today was so freaking stressful and it's not just today it's been adding up from the past few days and the highlights of today are
1. Studied differentiation for like 6 hours yesterday and still messed up it's questions in today's paper
2. My freaking piercing got infected the worst it has EVER been and it hurt so bad
3. I had to run behind my ele teacher to get a freaking cable soldered throughout lunch break and that lead me to see almost 6 different 1st year students getting their ass screwed in the most horrible languages which made me wanna throw up about my own college staff (only some of them)
4. No lunch break and 1 dosa in morning meant starving till 7 o'clock
5. Stayed back to finish my ele project and still couldn't finish it and I'm so done
And the worst part is, it's not just me. Everyone is just as stressed. I can't even pin point to one person or thing and say oh this is the root cause of all my problems. And to cope with all my problems i try to cheer myself up by doing crazy bat shit and honestly it feels like getting drunk to get away from sorrow and then you sober up. So at the end of the day, even that doesn't work.
God please put things in line. I'll try my best i swear. Help me out.

In Israel, you’ll find a patchwork of different communities. Most Israeli Jews originate from Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, but some come from other regions, such as India.
According to the Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv, there are about 85,000 Jews of Indian origin in Israel — so Indian Jews make up just 1.2% of Israel’s Jewish population. This small community is divided into four groups: the Bene Israel from Maharashtra, the Cochin Jews from Kerala, the Baghdadi Jews from Kolkata, and the Bnei Menache from Mizoram and Manipur.
Although I grew up in the U.S., my mother’s family is from the Cochin Jewish community in Israel. I wanted to find out more about how this community is preserving our unique Jewish traditions from the South of India.
Many of these traditions are at a risk of dying out. For example, the language of the Cochin Jewish community is called Judeo-Malayalam. Today, this dialect has only a few dozen native speakers left (you can hear it spoken in this video).
According to legend, the first Jews arrived in Cochin during the time of King Solomon. The oldest physical evidence of their presence is a set of engraved copper plates dating from around 379-1000 CE, which were given to community leader Joseph Rabban by the Chera Perumal dynasty ruler of Kerala.
Jewish sailors originally arrived in Kodungallur (Cranganore), an ancient port city known as Shingly by Jews, before shifting to Cochin following a flood in 1341. These Jews became known as the Malabari Jewish community. After the expulsion of Jews from Spain in 1492, a group of Sephardic Jews also came to Cochin, and became known as the Paradesi (Foreign) Jews. The Malabari and Paradesi Jews historically lived separately and maintained their own traditions, although in modern times this division has become less important.
Today, the vast majority of Cochin Jews live in Israel. I spoke with several community members to learn about current projects in Israel to preserve Cochini Jewish culture.
Hadar Nehemya, a jazz musician and performer, runs a food delivery service sharing traditional Cochin Jewish recipes. Hadar learned the art of cooking from her mother, who learned it from her paternal grandmother.
Cooking her dishes from scratch and selling them at markets and for delivery, Hadar’s goal is to introduce Cochini cooking into the mainstream of Israeli culture. “Many Israelis don’t know much about Cochin Jewish culture. Maybe they met a Cochini person in the army,” she said. “But Indian food is popular in Israel, because Israelis love to visit India after they finish their army service.”
Cochin Jewish cuisine is similar to other types of South Indian cuisine, but also has influences from Iberian and Middle Eastern cooking. One example is pastel, pastries with a spicy filling that are similar to empanadas. Other staples include fish and egg curries, chicken stew, black-eyed pea stew, dosa (thin rice pancakes) and dishes cooked with coconut and mango.
Hadar’s favorite dishes to cook are idli and sambar, which are often eaten together. Idli is a type of savory rice cake, while sambar is a spiced lentil stew. Although Hadar says it’s difficult to maintain an Indian food business from an economic perspective, she’s passionate about cooking and enjoys creating homemade dishes with the right balance of spices.
Along with cooking, music is also important in Cochini culture. In most religious Jewish communities, women aren’t permitted to sing in front of men who aren’t their immediate relatives. However, this prohibition was not part of the Cochini tradition.
In the Cochin Jewish community, women have sung in Hebrew and Judeo-Malayalam for centuries. Piyyutim (liturgical poems) were sung in the synagogue or at people’s homes during holidays. Judeo-Malayalam folk songs were sung at weddings and special occasions, and the lyrics of these songs were recorded in notebooks to hand down to future generations. Later, many women also learned Zionist songs in preparation for moving to Israel. I have memories of my own grandmother singing these songs at home.
In recent years, audio recordings have been produced of Cochini songs, including a collection called “Mizmorim” (Psalms) featuring Hadar’s grandmother, Yekara Nehemya. Hadar then created her own version of one of the songs, “Yonati Ziv.”
Today, community leader Tova Aharon-Kastiel has organized a choir which meets once or twice a month at different locations. In the choir, Cochini and non-Cochini women, mostly aged 65-85, sing songs in Hebrew and Judeo-Malayalam. The older generation is eager for the younger generation to get involved, but since most younger Cochin Jews have a mixed background and are assimilated into mainstream Israeli culture, this is sometimes proving a challenge.
Still, many young Cochin Jews are eager to connect with their roots. The community maintains several Facebook groups, including one specifically geared towards the younger generation. The group description reads: “If you are a young Cochini, you surely know (at least partially) the wonderful heritage of our forefathers and mothers… the sad truth is that this heritage is currently on its way to pass from the world.”
Shlomo Gadot is the CEO of Inuitive, a semiconductor company, and is actively involved with Cochini community projects. His nephew, Ori, runs the Facebook group for the younger generation. Shlomo says events are regularly held at the Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv for young Cochinis. “Normally the embassy gives them their office in Tel Aviv, and they invite the young Cochini people to come there and do a trivia contest,” he said. “They do it twice a year, once at Hanukkah and once at Passover.”
According to Shlomo, the embassy also has initiatives to create connections between Indian and Israeli tech companies. “Sometimes they invite people to the ambassador’s house or office to see how they can create connections between Israeli and Indian companies,” he said. “They also have a program to bring young people to India to help them get to know India better.”
Anil Abraham is one of the few Cochin Jews with recent memories of life in India. Born in Jerusalem, his family returned to India when he was 8 years old, and he lived there until age 35 before migrating back to Israel. He says he found growing up Jewish in India difficult, but rewarding. “It was very difficult to move there from Israel and learn Malayalam,” he said. “But it was amazing to be part of the community and enjoy Cochini food prepared from scratch. We used to attend prayers in the Paradesi Synagogue, because right now there are fewer than 20 Jews in Kerala.”
Today, Anil runs tours of Kerala for the Cochin Jewish community and others. “The kids travel with their parents and grandparents to India,” he said. “That’s how our traditions are passed down.”

Help Getting BL Manhwa Paljae Licensed
As per an initiative started on Reddit, I would like to ask you for help in regards to the potential licensing of the BL manhwa Paljae, Child of Winter.
I'm not kidding when I say this manhwa is a treat for the eyes.
With its Korean-inspired mythology and eery fantasy elements, Paljae is a beatiful story about a blind, powerful dosa (akin to a cultivator) who saves the life of a mysterious creature close to death that seems to be weakened by high temperatures and empowered by Winter season.
This is a mesmerizing manhwa both in artstyle and content. The exploration of human emotions, the blossoming of deep-rooted love and lifelong lessons are just the tip of this phenomenal story about two messed up beings finding companionship in each other.
I could sing praises about this story for hours and still it wouldn't be enough to express just how good it is. If this tiny summary has picked your interest, or if you're already acquainted with the story, please spare me five (5) more minutes!
See, as many of you know, the publishing house Seven Seas Entertainment opens a reader's survey every month to get suggestions from people about what their new licenses should be. From personal experience, I know getting a publisher's attention is hard (very much so), which means that this survey is a great opportunity to hopefully make them consider licensing this title.
As readers, we have the power to suggest what we're interested in buying, and we have to take this chance.
So without further ado, I propose we take this monthly surveys to get them to at least consider Paljae as a potential license.
A user on Reddit posted how you can help us by participating in the monthly surveys with instructions to do so: https://www.reddit.com/r/Paljae_ChildofWinter/s/KamfbYGn18
If you don't want to exit Tumblr right now, keep reading for my own summary of the post.
Whether you're familiar with Seven Seas or just want to give us a hand, if you're interested in reading Paljae, are already in love with it or just want to support the author, please consider taking Seven Seas Entertainment's monthly survey.
How can I help?
1. Once you click on the link, you'll be redirected to the FREE survey.
2. You will need to give them an email. This is only so they can make sure one person doesn't fill in multiple surveys. Your email won't be shared with their associates, and you won't be sent any emails either. I've been participating with other less wholesome suggestions for months, and it's alright.
3. You will have to answer a brief multiple-choice questionnaire about the formats you prefer to read manhwas, comics and the like.
4. Frequently, there will be a compulsory question about their new releases, so you may be prompted to choose the ones that pick your interest. Their covers and names will be included in a multiple-choice format, so have fun looking at them :)
5. There will be a question about which WEBTOON/WEBCOMIC you'd like to see licensed. This is where you can type Paljae, Child of Winter.
6. Finally, if you want to participate in their monthly raffle and win a paperback they published during the year prior, just enter your email in the last section. This is voluntary and won't affect the consideration of your answers.
We Tumblerinas know that fandom makes impossible things come true, and wouldn't it be awesome if we could make this happen?
You can find the link for their monthly reader's survey in different places:
- At the end of their webpage, https://sevenseasentertainment.com/
It will look something like this:
- On Instagram, in their stories: https://www.instagram.com/sevenseasentertainment?igsh=MWpsZ2xuZ2xvdG8zaA==
It will look something like this:
- On Twitter/X/whatever (I know we don't talk 'bout X around here, but still), https://twitter.com/gomanga
The tweet will usually be posted the first week of every month.
- On the reddit post linked in this publication, https://www.reddit.com/r/Paljae_ChildofWinter/s/KamfbYGn18
[This user will update the link every month, so that you can access the newest version whenever you see this post.]
That being said, I am very thankful for your time and I hope you can spare a few minutes to make this a reality. Thank you very much!
