I don't know if anyone else has talked about this already but, oh well!
So anyway, let's talk about the Chaos Council. It's made up of five different versions of Eggman.
Now remember my theory on how all the alternates are basically shattered parts of the original? That they're the aspects of the main characters taken to the extreme? Well, I believe the presence of the Chaos Council proves that theory. Cuz when you notice, there are no alternates of Eggman anywhere else throughout the Shatterverses but there are alternates of everyone else. This means all the Eggman alternates are in one place, aka New Yoke, as part of the CC. Why does that serve to prove that the alternates are shattered parts of a whole? Well, for many reasons but I'm gonna talk about three major ones.
Firstly, something that Mister Dr. Eggman said struck a chord while I was rewatching the premiere episode. While introducing the Chaos Council to Sonic, he said,
"One makes five, five makes one."
This dialogue literally and very clearly hints at them being 5 parts of a whole. A major clue or a foreshadowing if you will.
Secondly, their personalities. They all clearly reflect a certain major trait of Eggman. Introduction wise, Dr. Done-It is an aged man who likes to yell orders and complain.
He is literally, as Sonic would put it, a grumpy old man. That's the part of Eggman which gets annoyed at all the failed plans and groans in agitation and yells at his creations and curses out Sonic. Also the part that keeps urging to get a move on.
Next, there's Dr. Deep.
If his name and mannerisms aren't hinting enough, that's the part of Eggman that sometimes comes up at the end of the adventure when he's standing alone somewhere. The philosophical part, the part that expressed his feelings on Gerald, the part that would sometimes save Sonic because it wouldn't be a victory unless he's the one defeating his opponent. But this is not all, Deep is also the part which holds all of Eggman's battle prowess and drip. In short, he's the right-brained part of Eggman.
As for Dr. Don't, the emo teenager.
This is the guy who points out a clear cut obvious answer instead of dawdling . And he controls some remote features of the headquarters. He's constantly playing videogames and answers questions without even looking up. His brain is probably in constant activity, figuring things out, forming deductions and conclusions. This is the scientist side of Eggman. The one that holds 300 IQ and internally goes, "I'm surrounded by idiots." The one which is unable to get along with anyone because no one can think on his motive and level.
And then there's Babble, aka the angry baby.
One would think why someone like Eggman would have a baby as a part of his personality, right? Well, this baby is the most like Eggman out of all of them. Hear me out! Dr. Babble represents the anger and ruthlessness in Eggman. Babble, out of all of them, is Eggman's evil side. Babble loves torturing his victims and enjoys it, he demands that they harm their opponents and is merciless. Babble represents the part of Eggman that... destroyed the moon (get out of my head Snapcube dubs), unleashed the Metal Virus, Roboticizes mobians, all the mean stuff. And finally, the baby whines, a lot. All of Eggman's whining is squeezed in this one tiny baby.
Finally, the main member, Mister Dr. Eggman.
In my opinion, this guy is the aspect of Eggman that gloats and showboats. The one who gets absolutely smug and giddy if the plans are working, the part of Eggman that lets out those loud evil cackles and monologues. The face, so to speak. He is the part that makes Eggman go overconfident or reveal his plans or manipulates or banters, the part that makes him put his face as a logo on everything, the part that makes him build showy mechs and aircrafts and stuff.
Now that these people are discussed as various aspects of Eggman, let's get to the third and final major reason which indicates why the alternates are aspects of the originals; the Prism shards. When the Paradox Prism broke, it was broken up into five shards; yellow, red, blue, green, purple. There are five shards and five Eggman alternates.
But wait.
Why are there five alternates of Eggman when we have only come across three for the rest of the characters? Why don't the numbers add up? Well, good question. And my theory is that since the Prism broke up into five shards, there should be five sets of everything! Five shards, five Shatterworlds, five sets of alternates. There are already five of Eggman. This means there are still two shards missing and two sets of alternates we haven't seen. We know the purple shard belongs to The Grim because its gateway was purple and its entrance was in the shape of the purple shard. And we haven't seen Rouge's main alternate like we've seen Nine, Thorn and Dread. That's going to be the world where the yellow shard resides.
But this all leaves another mystery. Five shards means five worlds and five sets of alternates, right? We already know about all five alternates of Eggman, we already know the colors of the five shards (Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Purple), and we know about four of the five worlds while the one associated with yellow shard hasn't been shown in the series yet. That world would contain its own set of alternates. That makes four sets of alternates. What about the fifth? Where are the alternates that, logically, should belong to The Grim? Where are they? Excluding yellow, what happened to the fifth world and its alternates? Where is the purple Shard that is associated with The Grim? What happened to this world and its inhabitants?

OC MASTERPOST (REGULARLY UPDATED)
—
My SWTOR characters!
These are the four I’m the most invested in, and I do have other toons but their stories haven’t quite come to me yet. :)
I’ve also attached their respective toyhouse’s with the complete lore to their names, some are more complete than others haha.
Jed Solaris
You all know him, the man, the myth, the legend. He’s my main oc, not just for swtor and star wars, but as a whole. He is the crown jewel and flagship character of the sodapopsalesguy cinematic universe. He’s also my favorite punching bag (as any good oc should be).
In my gameplay, Jed is the canon cipher nine, as well as the Outlander/Alliance Commander. He started off pushing neutral DS alignment but eventually has gradually been pushing towards light III. His LI is Theron Shan and he’s best friends with Lana, as she’s one of the only people who can actually keep him in line.
He’s not proud of what he did as a Cipher Agent, which is why he’s trying to do better as Alliance Commander. He’s a man of the people, a boy who was shaped by war, and yet he’s just trying to do better. He’s the chosen one, but only by happenstance. Practically force blind, and often resentful of force users as a whole.
He constantly swings back and forth from being a serious character, whom I treasure - and the galaxy’s most cringefail guy. I love him.
Fallon Navaro
Fallon Navaro is my terrible no good very bad Jedi Consular. She’s also my other main character, but for Pubside. She is not the canon Consilar though, that’s just the gameplay path I chose for her. She also has premonitions of the future, including of my other SWTOR characters and their lives.
She’s a descendent of the Jedi Exile, and people just won’t stop reminding her of that. Fallon’s spent so much of her life in the footsteps of what she should be, that eventually she gives up and jsut starts doing her own thing. Usually something highly manipulative or immoral. She’s not the most evil Dark V™️ character around, she’s just sort of trying to break the expectations people have been shoveling ontop of her for her entire life.
She is romancing Lana Beniko, and they’re so cute together. All of my characters are queer because straight people scare me.
Verity Danthe
Miss Verity is the anti Fallon. She’s my canon sith warrior and she is the love of my life. Verity is kind, she’s cautious, she’s empathetic, and she’s pushing light V. Because of her beauty and grace she is coined “The Emperors Delight” just as often as she is the Emperors Wrath.
Born and raised in sith nobility, Verity should in theory be a perfect sith. But she isn’t. Her heart is on her sleeve and she uses her passion and love as the main fuel for her dark sided power and antics. She’s not a total pushover though, if something happens to her loved ones — she can easily snap and show you who’s boss.
Despite being a bit of a socialite and party animal she is very perceptive and aware of how to use this to her advantage. She can use the force to read other peoples emotions and feelings, so rather than direct thoughts its all abstract concepts.
She’s married to Quinn, and they’re both bisexual disasters.
OTHER OCS..

Not All Are Bad
Summary: Dabi, formerly known as Touya Todoroki, was arrested. While being interrogated, he spills everything that his father did to him and his siblings until the day he disappeared from their lives. Now, not only are you and Shouto in danger of losing your pups, your friends are too. It's up to you and Shouto to prove that not all Pro Heroes are abusive parents and spouses.
TW: Enji Todoroki's A+ parenting (heavy 600 ton sarcasm), abuse, swearing, referenced child abuse, abusive relationships (not anyone from Class 1-A), nosy reporters, A/B/O dynamics (I don't think that's a warning, but I'm adding it anyway.), mentions of sex but not actual smut because this is a SFW blog, mentions of pregnancy, discussions of pregnancy. If I forgot anything, or anyone wants me to add something, please let me know! Slide into my DM's or leave a comment. I would hate to make anyone uncomfortable and I will change it as soon as I see the notification!
A/N: This just popped into my head today, so I figured I would write it out! Also, a little run down of how my A/B/O scenarios work is under the cut with the rest of the story in case these kinds of things make anyone uncomfortable!
Quick run-down (if you don't care skip past all of the italics and find the bold words and the space where the story starts):
Alphas: An alpha is someone who's alignment makes them a lot more domineering in certain situations. They tend to be natural leaders and don't appreciate being questioned by someone they perceive as lower ranking than them. They release strong pheromones that allow them a certain level of control over the other alignments, usually omegas, but there are omegan protection laws that keep alphas from using this to their advantage in unsavory ways.
They get ruts twice a year, which means that they just get really possessive of their mates and anyone they consider family. This is expressed in different ways, from your typical A/B/O scenario when they get really h*rny, to simply scenting their mates and family more than usual. They tend to take their ruts off from work, because the chemical imbalance in their brains can sometimes make them go feral.
*When an alpha goes feral they will attack anyone they perceive as a threat to them or their families. They can sometimes go after their mates or even their pups if they think their pups are hurting their mate. It rarely happens among families, but there are extenuating circumstances. Common signs include an excessive amount of growling, snarling, howling, snapping etc. Sometimes, depending on how strong an alpha's alignment, their eyes will flash a deep crimson. (Think Kurapika from Hunter X Hunter)
*When an alpha offers to share their rut with an omega or beta, it is either a related family members (or found family, someone they feel no sexual attraction to), or someone they have been courting with. It's a big deal when an alpha requests that someone they're courting spend their rut with them. It shows that the alpha is ready to commit to a more serious kind of relationship.
*These are the alignments most likely to impregnate an omega or a beta. Rarely are alpha x alpha relationships able to conceive and bring a pup to full term. (For the sake of ease, it's the usual nine to ten months.)
Betas: These tend to be your more neutral alignments. They can smell pheromones, but they tend to have less of a reaction to the other alignments. They tend to keep the peace among packs, simply because they are less likely to become swayed by pheromones. They can snarl and growl like alphas, but they also purr like omegas, they are kind of in the middle of the spectrum.
*They don't have ruts or heats, but they aren't sterile either. They can impregnate an omega or even another beta with little issue, though they have a harder time impregnating alphas. They also have a hard time bringing a pup to term. It's uncommon, but it does happen.
Omegas: Now, most A/B/O scenarios I have read make omegas seem weak and taken advantage of. Not mine. An omega can just as easily sway an alpha with their pheromones as an alpha could with an omega. There are certain things that are just courtesy when in public, and there are laws about using one's pheromones to one's advantage. Omegas also tend to have more of the maternal instincts, but that's not the entirety of their character.
*They are the most likely alignment to get pregnant, and they are the least likely to impregnate another alignment.
When omegas get their heats, it shows mostly the same way as when an alpha goes into a rut, but sometimes they also become a lot more affectionate with younger members of their family since their maternal instincts are on a high, and they tend to become more clingy to people they see as protectors, for lack of a better word, usually their alpha friends or parents, depending on the age. Alphas tend to get possessive, while omegas become more clingy and touch-starved.
Please note: Sex and gender have nothing to do with one's alignment. One's alignment is simply something that happens by chance and rarely makes one less worthy of something than another.
Children are called 'pups' but they are still referred to as kids and children etc.
Children start presenting from as early as nine to as late as eighteen, and it's different for every child. The alignments all have different symptoms.
Alphas become easily irritated, possessive, sometimes they become destructive or even go feral when they present. They also tend to run a fever, and their eyes sometimes turn crimson, even if they don't go completely feral. Female alphas don't get their periods. They just get the rut.
Betas just tend to have their scents change. Pups smell a certain way, but when one presents, the scent changes. They also tend to be more in tuned with their packs' feelings.
Omegas become touch-starved, clingy, and sometimes more emotion. They tend to get cramps and muscle aches. Think about a girl on her period, minus the blood. Female omegas don't get periods or bleed during their heats, and neither do male omegas.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Touya, Reizo, come on guys, we're going to be late if you don't hurry up!" you called, laughing as your pups practically climbed over each other to get into the hallway from their room, Reizo with his sweater on backwards and Touya almost falling on his face trying to get his pants up over his knees and his very colorful Pro Hero Shouto boxers.
"Moooommmaaa!" Reizo whined, blue eyes shining brightly as he fixed his sweater. "Touya pushed me!"
"Reizo bit me!" Touya argued, face flushing redder than his hair.
"Come on boys, come here," you cooed, crouching down and gesturing them over. "Do you love me?"
"Of course!" they cried.
"Do you love Daddy?"
"Yes!"
"So you guys must love each other right?"
They glanced at each other, frowning, but flushed, telling you everything you needed to know.
"We're family," you told them, keeping your arm firmly around each of their waists, despite Touya being almost as tall as you. "And that means that no matter how much you fight, or how much you irritate the snot out of each other, at the end of the day, you love each other. Right?"
"Yeah," they muttered, albeit a little reluctantly.
"Okay then," you said, ruffling their hair softly. "And remember, no matter what happens, your father and I will do whatever we have to to protect you and your cousins."
They nodded.
"Alright, now Daddy has the car running downstairs, so we need to get going!" you said, ushering your boys out the door, making sure to lock the door behind you.
"No one forgot anything?" Shouto asked, climbing out of the car to make sure that the boys were strapped into the car properly. "Everyone has jackets?"
"Yup!"
"You have your keys, phone, wallet?" Shouto asked you, opening the door for you.
"Of course," you replied, buckling up, letting Shouto know that he could shut the door.
"Alright, well, we have to get going anyway," he murmured, pressing a kiss to your temple before he moved to close your door.
"Momma, Dad, why do we have to do an interview?" Touya asked, frowning.
He was your oldest boy, thirteen and a spitting image of his uncle, who he was named after, save for a white streak in his hair that covered his left eye, that he inherited from Shouto.
His quirk was a fire type quirk, and it relied on his emotions. His flames changed color based on how he felt, and when his emotions got out of control, so did his flames. Unlike what Enji had done with Touya, you and Shouto had taught your son to understand and channel his feelings so that he didn't harm himself or anyone else by accident. He was extremely in tune with his feelings, and his communication skills were through the roof, despite his age.
He was also intelligent, already having skipped two grades, and he was much more mature than most kids his age.
You supposed that with both of his parents being Pro Heroes, along with most of your found family, that he had heard and had to deal with things that other kids hadn't been exposed to. Not to mention that he had started taking care of Reizo more and more while you and Shouto were gone, despite both of you trying to make sure that one of you was always home with them.
Reizo was named after his grandmother, and he was ten, with white curls with (Y/H/C) undertones, and heterochromic eyes. One was gray, the other was the same shade of (Y/E/C) as your eyes. No one knew where the curls came from, but you were assuming it was from your side of the family, since most of the photos you had seen of Shouto's side of the family made it clear that it wasn't from him. Reizo's quirk was also some sort of mutation quirk. He was able to manipulate light at will, it didn't matter what kind.
One night, after you had woken up from a nightmare, you had checked in to make sure that both of your pups were safe and found Reizo sitting up in bed with a small ball of light in his hands. He had turned four a few months before, and while the doctors had assured you that he had a quirk, he had yet to manifest it physically.
Shouto had assured you, and vice versa, that it didn't matter if your pups were quirkless, you would love them regardless.
Reizo, even at four, had known that you were upset, so he had put on a little light show for you, and had managed to keep permanent star charts all around his room as he got older. He had memorized so many constellations and their stories that it made your head spin.
You and Shouto couldn't have been prouder of your boys, but that didn't mean that you subjected them to the media the way some heroes did with their kids.
In fact, you had tried to keep your kids as far away from reporters as you could, but you had also coached them on how to deal with them as they got older.
Touya, a recently presented alpha, had become much more protective of you and Reizo when reporters tried to stop you in the streets for questions.
Touya had never been violent, and you had been so proud of him when he had hung a reporter with his own tongue after they had gotten under Touya's skin with personal questions they had no right asking a thirteen-year-old.
"Because some things have been happening with your uncle Touya recently, and people are nervous. We're hoping that this makes them feel safer," you explained, turning in your seat to look at your boys.
Shouto's grip on the wheel tightened enough that it made a small noise, and you reached over, touching his thigh lightly.
"Hey," you whispered, turning back around, "it'll all be okay, we haven't done anything wrong. They have no reason to take the boys from us."
"I know, but he screwed everything up, not just for us, but for our friends too."
"Wait, what?" you asked.
"Bakugou called me to tell me that every hero with pups is going to be getting investigated, just to be sure. He and Kirishima might lose Kazuki and Eichiro," Shouto murmured.
"Fuck," you muttered, quietly enough that you knew your sons wouldn't hear you.
"Bakugou isn't exactly thrilled, but he's too afraid to do anything about it like he normally would."
"I can imagine," you replied. "But it's fine. No one from our class is going to lose their kids. We all love our pups, and we love everyone else's."
Shouto nodded, and you could tell that he was really trying to believe you.
"Hey," you murmured. "We're gonna be okay. Me and the boys and you. We're all gonna be okay."
He nodded again, and his grip on the wheel relaxed a little bit.
Interviews like this always made Shouto edgy, but he was extra concerned about this one and what was at stake.
He hated putting the boys in the spotlight, he hated even taking them to a news station, but he knew that you all had to do this if you wanted to stay together.
"I love you," he murmured, taking your left hand, kissing your hand lightly.
"I love you too Sho," you told him, smiling at him softly.
"Ready to walk through hell?" he asked as he pulled up to the building.
"With you by my side?" you inquired. "Always."
Shouto, as always, climbed out first, drawing a cheering crowd, and opened your door for you.
Then you each grabbed a boy.
Touya moved to stand dutifully by his father, and they both moved to your side.
You had your hand wrapped tightly in Reizo's, who was on your left. Touya, on Reizo's left, had an arm around his brother's shoulders protectively, and Shouto stood at the other end of your little line, glancing at you and his boys every few seconds.
Cameras flashed, and there were fans there to show their support to you and Shouto. Some of them held signs, other had merch.
Touya copied his father, his eyes steadfastly forward unless he was checking on you or Reizo, and his head held high with a confidence you knew wasn't entirely faked.
Reizo, on the other hand, was glancing nervously back and forth as you made you way inside.
"Momma, I don't like it out here," he said.
"I know baby," you murmured, barely pausing as you scooped him up into your arms, hiding his face in your shoulder.
Reizo was small, even for ten years old, and you could easily carry him in one arm while the other rested on Touya's shoulder, a comforting gesture.
Reporters shouted questions, fans screamed for some attention, and some people just watched, stone faced and blank.
Touya opened the door for you, and you ruffled his hair affectionately while Shouto kept a protective hand on the small of your back.
Shouto, who had been the first of you to meet the hosts, lead your family through the building, waving away assistance with enough politeness that no one got offended, but got the point across that he didn't need their help.
"Momma," Reizo murmured sleepily.
"Yeah baby?"
"Are Touya and I going to be taken from you and Daddy?"
"Not if we have anything to say about it baby," you whispered, trying to control the pheromones that were leaking around your scent reduction patches.
You had been straight with Touya about what was going on, he didn't appreciate being treated like a child, but you had sugar-coated the explanation you had given Reizo. He still understood, but it was terms he could understand.
"I love you Momma," Reizo said, clinging to the back of your shirt.
"I love you too baby," you told him, kissing his forehead lightly.
You and Shouto had declined the list of questions the station had sent you, and your PR managers had already 'leaked' it to the media that you and your family were winging this.
You had told the boys to answer the questions honestly, unless they didn't want to answer a question that made them uncomfortable.
You and Shouto had had a long conversation with the boys about this kind of thing, about personal information protection when being questioned, tone of voice, all of it, but at the end of the day, you knew that someone would find a way to twist everything.
Everything seemed to pass in a blur before you entered onto the stage, Reizo still in your arms.
Shouto and Touya were on either side of you, and you suddenly felt as if you had two bodyguards.
"Nice to see you again, Mrs. Todoroki. Mr. Todoroki, Mini Todorokis," Nariko, one of the hosts, said.
Shouto nodded, wrapping an arm around your shoulders absentmindedly.
"Nice to see you again too, Ms. Tanaka. I apologize for my husband, his second cup of coffee hasn't really settled in yet," you snarked, nudging your husband playfully.
"Dad doesn't function properly until nine in the morning," Touya added, flashing one of those dazzling smirks that would have people bowing to his every wish in a few years.
"My own son," Shouto muttered, making you laugh.
"It seems like your youngest takes after his father," Tatsuya, the other host, offered.
"Reizo does like his sleep," you agreed, rubbing your son's back soothingly.
"He's been spending too much time with his Uncle Katsuki," Shouto muttered, and you chuckled.
"Hey, when we were in school, you and Katsuki were the only ones that went to be bed before ten," you reminded him, wrinkling your nose in a teasing way.
Shouto opened and closed his mouth a few times before he pouted, tugging, very lightly, on a stray piece of hair that fell into your face.
"So, Touya- is it alright if we call you that?- what's it like? Having both parents be Pros?" Nariko asked.
"I don't mind if you call me Touya," your son said, looking surprisingly relaxed. "You guys don't ask the weird questions that some other reporters do. But, to answer your question, it's been . . . interesting, for sure."
"How so?"
"Well, for once thing, it's always stressful seeing them fighting on TV, no matter if it's a small time attention seeker or a high profile criminal. Dad has been my role model since I was little, even more so since I presented as an alpha. And I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm a Momma's boy," Touya said, sending you a fond look. "So I want to make sure Momma's safe."
People in the audience cooed, and you let out a small purr, ruffling your son's hair.
"What do you have to say to that Mom?" Tatsuya inquired.
"Both Shouto and I already know that Touya is a Momma's boy," you informed them. "Both boys are, though recently Reizo has been spending more time with his father."
Reizo shifted in your lap, slowly peeling his eyes open, glancing around.
He rubbed his eyes as they asked Touya a few more questions, before he crawled from your lap into Shouto's.
Shouto waited for him to get settled before moving to make sure Reizo was secure in his position.
"So, Mrs. Todoroki-"
"Please, call me (Y/F/N)," you interrupted. "We've been doing this since I was in high school."
"Fair enough," Nariko said, smiling at you. "(Y/F/N), what's it like for you? Being a mother and Pro?"
"The separation anxiety in the beginning almost made me quit," you joked, waiting for the laughter to die down before continuing. "But seriously, being a mother is stressful enough, but I was rising through the ranks, so was Shouto. We both knew that our jobs were dangerous, and we made sure that we talked it through thoroughly before we even got together. When I found out I was pregnant, we both took a few days off to talk about things. We both agreed that I was going to take myself out of the field, stick to desk work, that kind of thing, and then we argued on baby names."
"Speaking of baby names," Tatsuya said, making sure you were done before continuing, "you named your son Touya. Care to explain the name choice, given everything that's happened?"
You and Shouto glanced at each other, and you could tell by the look on his face that he was leaving this one to you. He wouldn't be able to get through it if he answered.
"Until recently, we didn't know that Dabi of the League of Villains was Touya Todoroki. Shouto and the rest of his family thought that he was dead. I don't know the full story, since Enji didn't like me to begin with, and Shouto doesn't talk about him much. Shouto was separated from his siblings because of his father."
You tried to reign in all the angry pheromones leaking out, but it was hard. You had never really liked Enji Todoroki, in the uniform or out of it, and hearing about the abuse over the years from Shouto and his siblings had lowered your opinion even more.
"Anyway, when we started talking about names, Shouto brought Touya up. He said, 'I want there to be one Touya Todoroki that gets to see all the good the world has to offer'. Once he told me that, I couldn't say no, besides, I wanted there to be one Touya Todoroki that saw what love was supposed to be."
You took Shouto's hand, interlacing your fingers, and your son took your other hand.
"You got what you wanted," your son told you, voice cracking with emotions.
"So, Touya, do you think that your parents are a good example of love?" Nariko asked.
"Without a doubt," Touya replied, almost instantaneously.
"You answered that very quickly," Nariko told him, eyes wide.
"For those who don't know, my quirk reacts with my emotions," Touya said, setting his hand on fire, the flames a bright gold. "The flames change color based on my emotions. From the first day that my quirk appeared, neither of my parents have ever lost their patience with me. They have both taken the time to communicate with me. They taught me that showing emotions isn't a bad thing, it's something that makes us human.
"My parents have never raised their voices at us, me or Reizo. Even when we probably deserved it, they've never yelled at us out of anger or frustration. Never. They've never laid a hand on us either. I've never seen Dad's eyes change color even a little bit when talking with me, my brother, or my mother. He's gotten mad at a few people who can't take a hint, but he's never been violent around the house. He's never yelled at Momma, and Momma's never yelled at him either. Not in the time I can remember. Dad taught me how to be a good alpha. I said earlier he was a like a role model to me.
"I watched the way he treated Momma and followed his example. Now I know how to treat my future mate, and how to make things work. My parents are a good example of a healthy relationship, love, acceptance, parenthood, and a bunch of other things. They taught me and Reizo that communication is the key to everything. If only it was the key to cooking, because I think that's the only thing neither of them can do."
The audience had been cooing at your sons little speech, then laughed at his unexpected joke.
Tears stung your eyes and Touya seemed to panic a little bit.
"Sorry Momma, I didn't mean to make you cry!"
"I know honey," you said, wrapping your arms around him. "I'm just happy."
He sank into your hug, arms tight around your waist.
Shouto rubbed a hand down your back soothingly, and you pulled away, wiping your eyes.
"So, Mr. Todoroki, you've been very quiet," Tatsuya said. "Why are you letting your wife and son answer everything."
"If there's one thing I've learned in the fifteen years that we've been together," Shouto said, "it's that my wife has a way with words that I lack. Luckily, both our sons have inherited that from her. Besides, I like hearing her and my children talk. I like hearing their voice much more than I like hearing mine."
"And you said you didn't have a way with words," you teased, and Shouto chuckled.
Reizo rubbed at his eyes, glanced around, and crawled over your lap to get to Touya, who let his little brother tuck himself into his side, yawning.
"Finally awake baby?" you asked, turning your attention to your youngest son.
"Yeah," he murmured, stretching before he settled down again. "'M not used to being up this early on a weekend."
"We know," Touya teased, patting his brother on the head.
"Rude Touya!" Reizo whined.
"Boys," you chirped, "save the bickering for when we get home okay? Let these people do their jobs."
"Sorry Momma," they both muttered.
You smiled at them, and Shouto shook his head with a small smile.
"Are they always like this?" Nariko asked, trying to hide a giggle behind her hand.
"Pretty much," you admitted, smiling brightly. "But they are our sons, it's to be expected that they get a little snarky."
"We certainly were," Shouto muttered.
"To say the least," you agreed. "God, high school was rough. We were such problem children, I don't know how Aizawa dealt with us, or any of our other teachers for that matter."
"Speaking of your U.A. days, Touya, you're in class 1-A currently, aren't you?"
"Yes, I recently got my acceptance letter," he confirmed. "I can't wait! I already met some of my other classmates already, since they're cousins of sorts, but it's gonna be great to see where Momma and Dad went when they were my age."
"And you were accepted through recommendations, but you took the public entrance exams didn't you?"
"Yeah," Touya said, nodding. "I wanted to show everyone that just because I was accepted through recommendations didn't mean that I didn't have the power to back it up, or that I thought I was better than anyone else. I wanted to prove that it was through my power that I got in."
Shouto's eyes shined at the words his son used, and you took his hand, remembering the words that Izuku had told him at your first Sports Festival together.
"That's my boy," Shouto murmured, leaning across your lap to ruffle his son's hair.
Touya grinned, fixing his hair.
"Reizo, do you want to be a hero?" Tatsuya asked him.
"No, I want to be a natural disaster first responder."
"Why don't you want to be hero?" Nariko inquired.
"Because I don't want to steal my brother's spotlight," Reizo teased, cutting a playful glare at his brother. "Besides, they're heroes too, they just aren't Pros. Most civil servants are heroes, they just don't have the same title. Momma and Daddy taught me that!"
Reizo beamed at you, and you couldn't help but smile back at him, wrinkling your nose at him, which he did back at you.
"(Y/F/N), Mr. Todoroki, do either of you have anything to say to the people who are questioning whether Pro Heroes can be effective parents?"
"I can't speak for all Pro Heroes," you said, your voice going colder. "But I can confidently, without hesitation, tell you that the entirety of my graduating class- those that have kids- are better parents than most of our grandparents were. None of them would ever hit their child. And yes, we're all training our kids to use their quirks, but it's to teach them control, and we aren't training them for battle. Our children are not soldiers. And I think some people need to be reminded that while heroes are capable of handling situations that others are not because of our training, we're still human.
"Every time we leave our kids, every time we go out, we know that we might not make it back home. I worry about my kids whenever I leave for patrols. Every time I come across a strong opponent, I worry about whether my kids are safe, whether Shouto is safe, whether I'm going to make it back home. And to those that are specifically questioning Shouto's ability to be a parent, I'm disappointed in you. For those that are more than willing to let him walk in harm's way to risk his life for them, but doubt his parenting skills, well, ask any alpha from our class and they will tell you that I was not an easy omega to get to know.
"As an omega that was almost deemed unbreedable, unmateable, for me to let Shouto anywhere near me should be proof enough, not to mention the fact that we have two amazing pups. Not every hero is Enji Todoroki. Not every hero is thinking only of themselves or their image. The reason we're heroes is to help the world. We're not looking for fame and glory. We're looking to keep the world safer for our mates and our pups. We're heroes, but we're human, we're parents. I'm disappointed in every person that ever praised Enji Todoroki for his parenting skills, I'm disappointed in everyone that was fooled by his 'hero' persona. He may have had a license, but when it came down to it, he was no hero, not in any of the ways that mattered."
You leaned back against the couch, tearing your eyes away from the camera, leaning against Shouto's side.
"I have to agree with my wife on this," Shouto said. "My father set the bar pretty low when it came to what being a functional parents as a hero looks like, but our class is setting the bar high. None of our friends have pups that are terrified of when they walk through the door after patrols. None of our nieces and nephews have ever hated their parents with serious intent. Every member of our class, which we all know is still referred to as 1-A, adores their children. Even Katsuki does, and when we were in high school all he cared about was being number one. He took time off from work to raise his pups, and if that doesn't speak volumes, I don't know what does. When we get home, Touya and Reizo always jump to their feet and hug us.
"Katsuki's kids are the same way with him and Eijirou. The number of times (Y/F/N) and I have been knocked over when we get home from patrols is insane, honestly. Denki and Hitoshi's kids are just like Denki, always smiling. We've made mistakes of course- what parent doesn't?- but that doesn't make us bad parents. My father was a bad parent, most of the time he was a bad person, and I made it my mission to not be like him in anyway. I think I did pretty well."
You took Shouto's hand, squeezing it.
"Our class is one big family," you murmured, "and every time the kids are with us or any of our former classmates, they always smile. Like Shouto said, we've made mistakes, and we'll probably make more. We're human, it's what we do, but we're trying our best to be good parents. Our boys know that we just want what's best for them, that we support them no matter what. We taught our kids that it's alright to be afraid of things, but we also taught them that we shouldn't be something they feared. Class 1-A wanted to be the kind of parents where instead of them thinking 'Oh shit, I can't tell Mom or Dad' we wanted them to think 'I'm in trouble, I need to call Mom and Dad'."
"It sounds like you did a very good job," Tatsuya said.
"He's right!" Touya and Reizo chirped.
"You all agreed to wing this interview. We personally watched your PR agents tear up the copy of questions we were going to ask you, though (Y/F/N)'s went further and dissolved hers in water, so you had nothing to prepare yourselves with. Why would you do that?" Nariko asked.
"Momma and Dad are great parents," Touya began. "We knew that any questions you asked us would have only good answers. They get frustrated with us, they get mad, but they handle it well, they never take it out on us. Twist our words however you want, but at the end of the day, that's my final answer. I wouldn't want anyone else to raise me."
"Same," Reizo said. "And anyone that thinks Momma and Daddy are bad at what they do needs to get their eyes checked."
"Reizo," you chided.
"Sorry Momma, but it's true," Touya agreed.
"My boys," you murmured, pulling them both closer, resisting the urge to cry.
"There you have it folks," Nariko said. "I don't think there are any other questions we need to ask."
"None," Tatsuya agreed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A few days later, the interview was on TV, and you couldn't resist the urge to watch it.
You were home by yourself for now. Shouto was out on patrol, Touya was at the dorms getting settled in, and Reizo was at a friend's house for the night.
It was clear how much your boys adored you, and it was clear that neither boy was frightened at all of you or Shouto.
Katsuki had called, practically in tears, though whether that was from the sappiness of you and your family or the kind things you had said, you weren't sure.
Most heroes had been cleared of any suspicion, they had started in the higher ranks and worked their way down, so you and the rest of your class had been cleared already.
After you had all learned that you were cleared, kids had been dropped at grandparents' and other trusted family and friends so the adults could celebrate.
It had been nice to see everyone, and there had been a lot of tears (Izuku and Katsuki were the worst, though you had been close to them), but there had also been a lot more laughter and drunken shenanigans that you would never tell your kids about.
Your ranking, along with Shouto's had shot through the roof after that interview, and you and your husband had both gotten tons of fanmail apologizing for ever doubting, and other that said they had never doubted at all and that they were glad that you were cleared.
Shouto had been so relieved when the investigations had been dropped, like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders.
"I told you," you had told him one night, and he stumbled across the interview on twitter, along with someone's breakdown of it.
You were lying in bed together, his arm wrapped around your waist as you laid on his chest.
"I know," he murmured, kissing the top of your head.
"You will never be like your father, and you will always be my hero, same with the boys."
"Speaking of the boys," Shouto began, cheeks tinted a little pink.
"Oh no," you teased, pushing yourself up to see his face.
"I . . . I want to have another pup," he admitted. "I want to try for a girl this time."
"Upset that both of our boys are almost as devoted to me as you are?" you asked playfully, moving to sit in Shouto's lap as you both readjusted.
"No, I love that our boys love you as much as they do, but they are Momma's boys," he said. "I want a Daddy's girl."
You couldn't help but chuckle, leaning down to kiss him.
"Let's ask the boys in the morning," you suggested. "Then we can try for a girl."
Shouto beamed at you, and you shook your head at him, kissing him again.
"Dork," you muttered, wrapping your arms around his neck.
"I would've asked sooner, but with the investigations going on, I didn't think it was the right time."
"You're right, it wouldn't have been, but we would've worked it out. We always do."
Shouto nodded, burying his face in your neck.
"I love you Shouto," you told him.
"I love you too (Y/F/N)."

CP2077 OC ask game *:・゚✧⚔️🤖🔮 [x]
PERSONAL.
1. what is their full name? do they have any nicknames? what are they and why did they get them? His full name is Maximilian Noirceuil Roquentin Vandermeer. Vandermeer to others, Max to his family. His mother just loves French literature and culture.
2. how old are they? how long have they been living on their own? 33 as of 2077. He’s been living on his own for 15 years since he joined Arasaka.
3. what are their astrology signs? sun/moon/rising. He was born on May 2nd 2044, which makes him a sun Taurus, moon Cancer and ascendant Leo.
4. what tarot card from the major arcana would you associate with them? The Devil.
5. are they religious or spiritual in any way? Not at all. Max is rather materialistic and self-indulgent at times.
6. which of the four elements would you associate with them? Air for intellect and mental intention.
9. which of the nine alignments are they? (lawful good etc) Lawful neutral.
10. which of the myers-briggs personality types are they? ESTJ, the Executive.
11. do they have any cyberware? is it cosmetic or is it weaponry/armor? He’s not into combat much, he prefers doing his job quietly if he can. Better yet - a silver tongue coupled with unsettling look can achieve a lot more than a weapon. Hands: Smart Link; Ocular system: Kiroshi Optics; Nervous system: Kerenzikov; Cyberdeck: Stephenson Tech Mk.2; Integumentary system: Optical Camo; Skeleton: Endoskeleton, Bionic Lungs; Legs: Lynx Paws.
12. what is their occupation? He likes to call himself a free artist but technically he’s a solo. Murder, sabotage, thievery, recovery, delivery - you name it and he’ll do it, quick & clean. A man of high standards he prefers to be silent, precise and effective about his work. Even during his Arasaka days he never shied away from hard or morally repulsive (to some) tasks. A job is a job and needs to be done.
13. if you were to choose a class for them, what would it be? The closest would probably be a Stealth Solo.
14. what is their weapon of choice? HJKE-11 Yukimura pistols & Electric Baton.
15. what is their preferred vehicle or transportation of choice? Black Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech.
16. how would you describe their style? Neomilitarism. Corpo chic through and through.
17. are they a early riser or a night owl? Normally he’s an early riser but not averse to adapt if work demands it.
18. share three songs you associate with them. Eisbrecher - Verrückt [translation] Dorothy - Wicked Ones Oomph! - Augen auf! [translation]
NIGHT CITY.
19. is your character from night city? if no, where were they born? what brought them to night city? if yes, what area of the city did they grow up? He is from Charter Hill, Night City. His maternal family is from North Oak but his parents moved to something more affordable before he was born. He worked his ass off to stay in Charter Hill on his own but after his boss Jenkins lost the power struggle in Arasaka, Vandermeer had to survive and look for a cheaper place.
20. where do they currently live? describe their home. Watson, Little China, near Sutter Street. He rents a small apartment that satisfies his needs, which turned out to be rather simple - a quiet (as much as possible), clean and efficient space that is suitable for living and working in.
21. do they have any favorite spots around NC? Lele Park in the evening and night. And Dark Matter club.
22. do they like to cook for themselves, or eat out? do they prefer restaurants or street food? and how do they feel about vending machine food? He can cook a few things thanks to his mom but generally prefers street food and restaurants. He finds vending machines repulsive.
23. do they prefer the city or the badlands? The city. He loves comfort, hygiene and availability of things only megalopolis can offer.
24. what gang/faction/corporation do they align with, if any? He prefers to keep balance and mutually beneficial relationships with everyone strictly for business. He always looks for people reasonable enough to bargain with.
25. which radio station(s) is their favorite? If it’s a car radio then it’s Vexelstrom most of the times. He likes hearing heavy rhythms in the background. When it comes to listening to music at home he has a variety of genres in his playlists from classics and jazz to heavy metal.
26. if they do merc work, do they have one dedicated fixer? if so, who? It’s Rachel Vogelman (another OC created by @bnbc). They used to be corporate rivals during their Arasaka days. To add fuel to the fire their colleagues believed them to be siblings because of certain visual similarities between the two. When Max lost his job Rachel was the only person he could ask for help. It wasn’t easy, and it still isn’t but they focus on the business side of things. Or at least try to.
27. have they ever had run ins with the badges? He doesn’t like to attract unnecessary attention. Nobody likes when you’re the star of TV news.
28. are they quick to help a stranger in need or do they prefer to stay out of other peoples business? He most likely won’t help unless it can benefit him in any way.
29. do they have any favorite celebrities that frequent or live in NC? how would they feel meeting them? He doesn’t give a shit about celebrities. But he knows Michiko Arasaka, and their first meeting face to face left him baffled to say the least.
RELATIONSHIPS.
30. is your friend a social butterfly or more of a loner? Something in between. He hates useless small talks and fake politeness but understands their necessity when required.
31. who are their closest chooms in NC? He doesn’t have any. Never cared enough to rely on people and always expected a knife in the back. His most regular stable contact is probably Rachel Vogelman but they’re not even close to being chooms.
32. do they have anyone they would consider family? His mom and his sister are the only family he needs.
33. what is/was their relationship like with their parents? He loves his mother Jessica who raised him to be a well-rounded personality that can always land on his feet. She’s an economist with a good sense of humor and interest in arts. But he doesn’t have much emotional connection with his father Mark, since the guy is always busy with his retail business.
34. do they have siblings? He has a sister named Brit who is 15 years younger.
35. how would you describe their relationship with their family? Max is close with his family, although they’re all often too busy to meet regularly but they keep in touch.
36. who is their biggest enemy? Detective Marc Sanderson? Hard to say for now because there’s no official lore information on him yet.
37. tell a short story about your character with their best choom. His rivalry with Rachel Vogelman was almost comic at times, which only worked against them as their colleagues called them siblings on purpose. But since the two have mutually beneficial relationships now he can admit Rachel is pretty good at what she does. He won’t tell it to her though to avoid giving her the pleasure. They have both grown up after losing their corporate jobs but some habits die hard.
38. do they have a love interest? if so, who? His current LI is Michiko Arasaka. Initially he'd met her as Ichigo (a Japanese name that means strawberry) in a cyber sex VR club while he still worked in Arasaka. It was a series of encounters they both enjoyed until he abruptly put an end to it during his unemployment. He suspects she started digging info on him because she reached out to him some time after he had made a small name for himself as a solo.
39. are they in a committed relationship or do they date around? Given the social gap between the two and solely sexual nature of their affair it’s implied they’re in open relationship. Besides it’s unknown if Michiko is still married. However, despite loving sex Max can be picky because he’s slightly fixated on hygiene. Michiko also sparked genuine curiosity and creativity in him with her wild and magnetic personality.
40. has your character ever been in love? if so, with who? No, what is love? He won’t recognize it even if falls in it.
41. do they believe in soulmates? No, he believes in shared goals.
42. do they believe in love at first sight? A ridiculous notion.
43. describe their ideal date. Their idea of romantic evening is to hook up in clubs where it’s noisy and crowded enough to ignore them but also to tickle their nerves. Sometimes they have a follow-up in motels (Michiko knows all the right places) if they can afford it. I don’t mean financially of course. Currently such state of affairs suits both of them perfectly.
44. would your character ever get married? Theoretically he can but marriage is a serious commitment, and right now he’s not interested in making one. And when it comes to Michiko it’s a no-no for a variety of obvious reasons.
45. what was your characters first impression of their partner(s)? Michiko Arasaka was not someone he expected to see when Ichigo asked for a real life meeting. She definitely enjoyed the effect she made while Max was trying to figure out in his mind if this was a setup. She was bold, straightforward and irresistable - not like anyone he has ever met before. The whole situation felt like getting into a sports car without breaks. Once in a lifetime opportunity, a one-way ticket. And he took it. He suspects he’s not the first and not the last such input for her but life is too short for missing out the fun.
46. are they open about their relationship or low key? how would other people feel about them together? Somewhat semi-open. Max’s mom knows and she’s worried for him, although she knows he can take care of himself. And Michiko doesn’t mind him telling about her to his family as he has no friends and isn’t the type to brag, and she doesn’t care if anyone recognizes her in public. Her social circle wouldn’t care about him, and those who might won’t be able to do a thing about it.
47. share a headcanon about your character and their partner(s). Just one? I’ve already got plenty. • Michiko calls him Max and he calls her Ichigo or Ichi (one) because that’s how they’ve met and it's something of their inside joke, a secret; • Michiko keeps him at distance on purpose. She studied his profile long before they’ve met face to face and probably knows what he wants for breakfast before he even wakes up. So she knows Max has opportunistic tendencies like majority of mid-tier corpos. But another reason is that she also doesn’t want things to get serious and complicated between them because it can ruin the fun. She appreciates he doesn’t ask stupid questions or demands more attention than she can give him; • Michiko likes to подъебывать Max. I guess the closest English equivalent would be to tease - cracking suggestive jokes on him, giving him simple presents she finds hilarious, sending him nudes and demanding payment with his in the most inappropriate times. She is amused Max tolerates her shit so stoically - but she’s never malicious, disrespectful or obnoxious. In return Max knows it’s hard to impress someone who comes from the Arasaka bloodline & that it would be safer not to get on their bad side, so he focuses on making her feel good. And strangely it makes him feel good too. • Max loves to touch her hair. Michiko always looks flawless when they meet and he adores her for it. • When Arasaka Tower was under attack Max called her until she finally picked up as he was genuinely concerned about her safety. He asked if she was alright and offered to take her home but she refused. She doesn’t know he was waiting outside.
48. share three songs you associate with your character and their partner(s). Garbage - Bad Boyfriend Eisbrecher - Exzess Express [translation] Eisbrecher - Rot wie die Liebe [translation] Bonus: Dinah Washington - Relax, Max - a song Michiko likes to tease him with.
NSFW.
49. name three of your characters biggest turn ons. Mature, confident women who know what they want and don’t waste anyone’s time.
50. name three of your characters biggest kinks. Touching Michiko in public - it’s the kink of kinks.
51. do they like having multiple partners or do they prefer monogamy? He doesn’t like being in relationships. The secret to his successful affair with Michiko is that both are totally free of any commitments and expectations from each other. Normally he prefers flings, BDs and cyber sex. But currently his mind is occupied with one specific woman with blue hair.
52. do they watch porn or braindances? Porn is ancient, BDs are far more superior.
53. would your character ever make an explicit braindance? He doesn’t have the right implant for that. He might though but not with Michiko - he’s not that stupid.
54. do they have any cybernetic enhancements that serve sexual purposes? He’s no netrunner but he got himself a Stephenson cyberdeck that supposedly prolongs orgasms. Turns out the cyberdeck can be useful for other things as well, even moreso as now he doesn’t have a corpo protection and needs to be more careful.
55. do they have a preference for ‘ganic bodies or do they like modifications? He doesn’t like cheap implants. Other than that he doesn’t care.
56. name three of your characters biggest turn offs. Poor hygiene, naivete and girls who don’t know when to quit.
57. what is their ultimate fantasy? or ““secret”“ kink? Michiko is his ultimate fantasy now. There’s something liberating and intoxicating about having her at the tips of your fingers moaning your name. He feels like he can try anything with her and she won’t say no, although he is aware it’s an illusory freedom.
58. would they ever use any substances like aphrodisiacs, alcohol or drugs during sex? Yes because why not? It’s not necessary but it can’t hurt.
59. what is their wildest sexual experience? A corpo group sex party. It was fun but he doesn’t like joytoys, even premium ones. Had to do a medical check-up afterwards.
60. are they more submissive or dominant? Dominant. But one time Michiko cuffed him to bed and he didn’t mind.
61. does your character need to have an intimate relationship with someone to have sex? or do they prefer being unattached? Unattached is best at the moment. Though he’s not fully aware he’s currently attached.
62. has your character ever participated in group sex? In the past, during his Arasaka days.
63. do they like to sext or play over the holo? Why not both, depending on situation.
64. has your character ever ghosted someone after a sexual encounter? Yes because he doesn’t like attachment. The reason he didn’t ghost Ichigo was that she was always creative during their virtual meetings.
65. how would they react if they were ghosted by someone they like after a sexual encounter? If Michiko ghosted him he’d be probably pissed and then upset. But he suspects she’d tell him first because there’s a certain amount of trust between them.
66. do they prefer kink oriented sex or spontaneous passionate sex? Usually the latter but the former is good too.
67. how do they get down on their own? quick and easy or do they have to romance themselves a little? It depends on a moment.
68. in what outfit do they feel sexiest? how do they dress to impress? Naked is the best. He dresses sharp because that’s how he was raised and also because it makes him feel good about himself. He mostly prefers clean black suits.
69. do they like having music on while they have sex? share three songs they’d play while getting down. He usually doesn’t care but Michiko likes to put on something energetic and loud when they’re in motels. This is just to give the idea of the mood: Fatboy Slim - Ya Mama Beastie Boys - Sabotage Mylène Farmer - Des larmes

Ok there's kind of a lot here, but: A2, 4, 6, 7, 16. B12. C2, 8. D3. E2, 8. F11. G6, 7. H7. I2, 5. L1, 2, and 9
Hell yes, give me a reason to answer every single question, I’ll do it
A2. What alignment are they? Chaotic neutral, lawful evil, et cetera…
I think Archer is a chaotic neutral character. He is caring towards animals and certain people and then doesn’t really care about what happens to really anyone else. He tends to be more on the chaotic side because he’ll do anything for people he cares about. Literally anything.
A4. Are they a pessimist or an optimist?
Archer is a cynical optimist. Half hopeful, half jaded, fully confused. He hopes everything will work out for him in the end, but realizes that the chances of that are kind of low. It doesn’t stop him from thinking about his future though.
A6. Does your OC tend to assume their interpretation of events and reality is correct, or do they question it? I.e., “I’m sure that’s what you said” versus “It’s possible I misheard you.”
He is definitely the “I probably misheard you guy. Its very easy to abuse this aspect of him, because with his schizophrenia, he has a hard time deciding what’s real and what isn’t anyway. So if someone says he heard something wrong, or that he was seeing things he’ll believe them, because that is a legitimate possibility for him.
A7. Is your OC confident in their reactions to life in general, or do they get embarrassed or easily shamed for it? I.e., if something startles them, do they insist it WAS scary? When they cry, do they feel like they overreacted?
He might not be super confident about his reactions but he also doesn’t let people shame him for feeling. If he is startled by something he’ll say something along the lines of “Damn that got me good.” and if people are laughing he’ll chuckle along side them. He also doesn’t judge people for crying, he knows sometime you need to let it out. He won’t feel that he’s overreacted because he knows he’s been through some shit and if a little cry helps him feel better, then he’s going to cry. None of that ‘men don’t cry’ with this guy, and if that is brought up to him he’s liable to start a fight.
A16. Does your OC have to go through their own trials to learn a lesson, or do they listen and learn from observation and lecture? I.e., does your OC listen when someone tries to tell them the importance of budgeting, or do they have to go experience what happens if you don’t budget first?
Archer doesn’t know what it means to learn a lesson. It takes making the same mistake a few times and someone drilling him for it for him to stop and think ‘damn maybe i shouldn’t do that huh’
B12. Your OC orders something to eat and gets their order done in a pretty wrong way, something they can’t just pick off or whatnot to correct, or something major is missing. What do they do?
He’d just ask politely for it to be fixed, he realizes people make mistakes and there’s no real reason to get worked up over something small like that.
C2. Would your OC feel bad if they acted against their morals? If not, would they find a way to excuse themselves for it?
So I would say one of Archers biggest morals is being loyal to his friends. And he really sticks to that, to the point where i can’t really see him ever acting against it, unless it is purely accidental. If he ever did accidentally betray one of his friends? He would be devastated. He’d need at least a few days by himself before he’d even partially feel up to interacting with anyone and then he’d most definitely avoid the person even though he could probably easily explain what happened.
C8. Is your OC more practical or ideal morally? I.e., do they hold people to high expectations of behavior even if it’s not realistic for the situation, or do they have a more realistic approach and adapt their morality to be more practical?
Archer is more practical when it comes to the people around him. He realizes times are hard and he can’t expect people to not look out for themselves and he doesn’t blame them for that.
D3. How comfortable are they with the idea of death?
Death isn’t really something he cares about. It’s gonna happen eventually so why worry about it. The only thing he worries about is leaving his dogs behind without someone to care for them.
E2. Which of the nine types of intelligence is your OC strongest in? Weakest? (Linguistic, existential, naturalist, et cetera)
His strongest is most definitely naturalist, his affinity with plants and animals is amazing. His weakest is probably Logical-Mathematical, please don’t ask him to do basic math it scares him.
E8. What’s one of your OC’s biggest regrets?
Not running away from his parents. He probably would have died alone in the desert, but he believes that would have been better than what they made him do.
F11. What are some of their favorite things to do for recreation? How did they get into it? What part of it do they like the most?
He likes crafting things! He almost always has a few bows in various stages of completion, and if he’s finished with them for the time being he can make arrows. He likes see the finished product of whatever he’s putting together, it makes him feel productive, like there’s nothing wrong with him and he’s just a normal guy living life.
G6. Do they have any favorite childhood memories?
... Uh he found a Brahmin calf wandering by itself in the desert around his house one time. No idea where it came from. He was super super excited when his parents let him keeping. They’d never done anything so nice for him before.
G7. Do they have any childhood memories they’d rather forget or be less affected by?
The very first pit fight his parents forced him into. He’ll never forget it, not in a million years. Not the bright lights, not the people screaming in the audience. Not the hungry eyes staring him down from the other side of the pit. Not what he did to them.
H7. What do they look for in partners? (Emotionally, mentally, physically..)
I wouldn’t say Archer is really looking for partners. Mainly because he doesn’t think he deserves love but once he realizes that’s not true he’ll probably gravitate towards someone who knows how to take control. Its not the healthiest decision for him for him, because he will do literally anything that person tell him to, he really just becomes a pet. Archer is gay, and he likes shorter guys which is good because he’d have a hell of a time finding someone taller than him. But really he’d need someone who wont take complete control over his life, even if he thinks that's what he wants.
I2. Do they have any eating requirements or preferences? Allergies, vegetarian, organic-only, religious restrictions…
He doesn’t eat a lot of meat, just because he likes animals and if he can avoid killing them he does. He’ll eat it if it’s all he has, plus he still has to hunt to feed his animals.
I5 Are they a good cook?
No. He cooks for himself and his animals. Really he cooks for his animals and then just eats what they eat. I don’t know how he’s surviving.
L1. How have your characters changed since you created them?
Oh man i first created Archer back in 2015 when Fo4 first came out, and he has changed quite a bit since then. He used to be super strong, didn’t have any scars, white hair. Most notably he wasn’t an animal man like he is now. He has always worn a mask though :)
L2. What do you consider the biggest themes in your character, if any?
Oh, maybe your past doesn’t have to control you, or something like that? Archer has a pretty fucked up past but that doesn’t stop him from hoping for a better future.
L9. How did you come up with your OC?
I just started playing the game. It took up until this year for me to actually finish it because i finally got something for myself to play it on, and then i started to actually flesh him out at bit.
#thank you for the ask!#Archer#ooh boy this one took a bit#Archer has a habit of letting people take control of his life#But to be fair thats what his life was#for the first 24 years#it was kind of a miracle that he left Zion when he did#Cause Joshua really was everything Arch thought he needed at the time#And if Joshua had asked him to stay Arch would have

( JJ,24,She/Her ) Did you see that? I could have sworn that I just spotted [ADRIA ARJONA] ducking into the shadows. Oh, it was just [MATEO DUGGAN]. They’ve always been kind of odd. You know, I’ve heard rumors that they are actually a [WITCH - FIRE] and work as a [ BARISTA]. I don’t know if that’s actually true, but I do know that they are PERCEPTIVE & EASY GOING which is nice, but they also are IMPULSIVE & ABRASIVE when you piss them off.
+ ooc:
Looking forward to writing with you guys and bringing this character of mine to life. I am definitely down for whatever. I’ve only written a couple of other supernatural/fantasy characters so please be patient with me while I learn the ropes and do some research! My inbox is always open. Still, she's not personally committed to upholding good in any abstract or universal way.

QUICK FACTS & HEADCANONS
The Duggan family is a respect line of witches that immigrated to the Eastern Hemisphere as part of the New Age witches. Their allegiance and commitment to the witch hierarchy and establishment of Witches as superior is insurmountable. They will bend over backwards for the Delaux and Whittles family, desperate to hold their place as respected and revered witches.
Mateo has two older half siblings. Her relationship with them is slightly convoluted at times. They support Mateo as best as they can but also don’t want to be on the receiving end of their mother’s anger. The same could be said of her father, who may genuinely love Mateo but never shows it.
She moved out after the revelation of her powers, both because she is somewhat fearful of her powers but also because she doesn’t wish for her mother to utilize those powers/train her into something she doesn’t want to be. Mateo rents an apartment and is saving to buy her own place. She lives there with her orange Tabby, Ignis (iykyk), who she rescued from the dumpsters behind the diner and potentially a roommate (see relationships).
Secondary education is important to the Duggans however due to her poor standings in the family, Mateo was essentially told she wouldn’t be helped with her education. Therefore, Mateo is currently working full time and taking part time college courses.
Since the awakening, Mateo is well aware of her fire element. This tends to flare up when she is angry, excited, or just generally emotionally overwhelemed. Her body temperature always runs higher, you’ll probably catch her wearing t-shirts in the winter for example.
IN THE SHADOWS (BIO)
tw: alludes to abuse.
28 years ago tells a story of a tale as old as time: Man meets woman, they fall in love, they conceive a child. Except this story is a little different. In this story, man already had a wife and two children, and man was not actually in love as much so as infatuated with what he could not have. And from that came Mateo: Her father a witch in a line of respected witches and her mother… a nameless human never to be brought up in the confines their household.
Despite being a stain on an otherwise respected blood line, Mateo was adopted into the family due to any magical abilities she might possess. A spitting image of her mother, Mateo is resented by her adoptive mother who is exceedingly hard on her. This was especially true when it seemed early on that Mateo might not actually possess any magical abilities.
Her mother was viciously cruel and often physical in her discipline up until Mateo’s 20th birthday. It was then, while her mother was dishing out yet another underserved punishment, that Mateo snapped and struck back, burning a permanent handprint on her mother’s face.
Discovering her element changed Mateo, years of anger burning away from the inside now palpable on her fingertips and commandable at the snap of a finger. However due to years of her powers being dormant, Mateo doesn’t have complete control over her magical abilities. She is a product of emotions guiding decisions and as such emotions guide her magic. She is perceptive and is usually impacted by the energy around her. Due to how her magic presented, Mateo is somewhat fearful of it and therefore hesitant to learn how to properly master her affinity.
Regardless of how she sees magic or herself, Mateo highly respects the hierarchy of the Coven and the integrity of witches as a specie. Because of her heritage though, Mateo doesn’t necessarily always agree to the separation of the supernatural or that supernaturals should remain hidden from humans.
What she truly longs for now is to find her biological mother, a feat that seems impossible given that she has no idea who she is or where she came from.
POTENTIAL RELATIONSHIPS
REFRESHINGLY NORMAL ROOMMATE: This person could be a human or non-witch entity who is likeminded in Mateo’s desire for species to mix. Their relationship is very vanilla as far as friendships go but that’s how they both like it. They act as confident for each other and genuinely don’t mind living together. This is probably the person that knows Mateo best and sees the truest version of her.
UNENTHUSIASTIC MENTOR: This is person that didn’t willingly take Mateo under their wing but begrudgingly gives her advise and pointers. They’re just doing her a favour because if not she’d probably get herself killed. This is not because they like her, at least that’s what they tell her and would never admit to the contrary. Although Mateo respects this person, she also probably isn’t the greatest with people telling her what to do. This results in a lot of bickering before Mateo actually follows their advice.
PHYSICAL RELEASE: This would be a person that Mateo would otherwise ignore the existence of however would seek out once in a blue moon when trying to get her emotions back under control. Is there such a thing as “apathetic with benefits” because that’s what these two would be, not quite friends but not enemies either, yet physically intimate all the same. Maybe this person made advances that were otherwise denied, except the one time Mateo needed it. Once turned into twice and, well, you get where this is going.

So I’m still slooowly working on a close re-watching of (and long, detailed post about) last week’s CR episode. This...isn’t that. This is my incoherent and chaotic ramblings about last night.
Using a cut because I know the tech issues were horrendous, and even people who tried to watch it live may not have stuck it out.
-Ok, first off. How INSANELY GOOD was that episode!? Like...!?!?
-I’ve spent a looong time being relatively uninterested in Fjord’s backstory (though always interested in his alignment and motives). I thought he was just granted powers by some sinister eldritch sea monster. I didn’t think there was an ENTIRE CULT!? DEVOTED TO SAID MONSTER!?!? Or that it was going to tempt him with THE POWER TO CONTROL THE SEA!?!?!?
-This hits especially close to home for me because I play a warlock in my weird D&D/text-RP hybrid with my friends. I found it really challenging to write the scene where her (obviously evil) patron tempts her with power, because how do you make that power seem SO appealing that a decent and reasonable person might actually be tempted? Welp, Matt just BLEW THAT OUT OF THE WATER, pun intended.
-Those scenes between Fjord and Captain Avantika might seriously be the best PC/NPC interactions I’ve ever seen. Was Matt expecting that level of sexual tension, or did that just, uh...happen? Regardless, she was such an amazing combination of sexiness, casual power and intelligence, a dash of humor, and super creepy fanaticism. And you could really feel Fjord’s fascination at finally meeting someone who not only understood his powers and his freaky dreams, but shared them!
Remember back when the M9 first met up, and Fjord had this total obsession with Caleb and his magic that often felt like a straight-up crush, but it kind of tapered off when he realized that his power and Caleb’s came from different sources? I couldn’t help but think of that during Fjord’s interactions with Avantika. Though it seems super ironic in retrospect that Fjord didn’t focus all that interest on Molly instead. 😲
-...which brings me to the thing I am REALLY SUPER FREAKING OUT ABOUT. Guys, GUYS, what if Ashley hadn’t been there last night!? I know she didn’t get to say or do all that much, and that Taliesin would have noticed the connections anyway (the snake, the eye tattoos, the blood...), but Taliesin couldn’t actually say anything in-character. Ashley could and did. And OMG, that exchange. Travis’s slow realization, the whole room screaming when he mentioned Molly’s name, Yasha’s quiet little “He had nine of them,” and Taliesin’s solemn “She would know.” I got chills all up and down my spine.
Nine eyes. The “Nonagon.” Lucien, Cree, the cult, the ritual gone wrong. The unnamed FEMALE MAGIC-USER who had a book that made it all happen, then ran off with it when things went sideways. What is going on, you guys? WHAT IS GOING ON!?
-All this time, we’ve all been talking about how Vox Machina were these great heroes with an epic destiny, and the Mighty Nein were a bunch of morally grey outcasts and fuck-ups with no particular plan, bumbling through life together and striving (...on and off) to be better people. And all at once, I’m getting the sense that there is an absolutely next-level tier of destiny going on here, that there are connections and higher powers binding these fuck-ups together in ways we haven’t even imagined.
Although Lucien was a blood hunter and not a warlock, his cult and his powers obviously have some crazy connection to Fjord and his patron. It might have been Lucien, not Vandren, who Avantika was referring to when she said she’d met “another” of Uk’otoa’s disciples--she might even have facilitated Lucien’s death and resurrection, and thus, the birth of Molly. 😲 And I can’t stop thinking about the M9 first meeting Molly in Trostenwald, how he read Jester’s fortune and told her she’d “already found the clue [she was] looking for” and showed her the Moon and Shadow cards, how a couple members of Molly’s carnival had names that echoed the M9′s names (Bo the Breaker and the Knot Sisters, I believe?).
How they only found out about the Gentleman because Beau stole some mail and Nott successfully interrogated a halfling thief in the sewers of Zadash. How they stumbled upon the dodecahedron, which just happens to possess power that’s reminiscent of Caleb’s highest goal. How they met Jester’s (probable) father on the same day and in the same place as a former member of Lucien’s cult who spilled his backstory. How one mission for the Gentleman sent them to the makeshift temple (??) where they found Fjord’s eyeball crystal, and his next mission brought them to the letter that led them to Avantika. How Caduceus comes from a graveyard outside the same city where Molly’s cult was based. And how every member of the Mighty Nein has had a strong connection (however unknowing or unwilling!) to some god or shady, powerful being, except for Caleb, Nott, and Beau...and even Caleb was restored to sanity, and therefore set on his current path, by a mysterious cleric and her deity.
I thought this campaign was about the machinations of governments and military forces, and now I’m starting to seriously wonder if the M9′s entire journey is some kind of freaking cosmic chess game.
And it’s making me feel so worried about them! They didn’t ask for any of this. They’re a bunch of babies who just want to learn to love and trust each other, to be safe and happy and maybe a little bit good. They weren’t even ready for governments and military forces, and they are so woefully unready for gods and cults and eldritch abominations and power over time and nature. For the first time, I’m genuinely worried that they’re all in over their heads. That even if they can physically survive what’s to come, their super fragile ethical frameworks might not be able to survive this much temptation. That the M9 might not be scrambling up from a Chaotic Neutral sensibility to a loving and heroic found family, but taking some kind of dark plunge in the opposite direction. That this campaign might not have a happy ending.
I am so, so stressed about all this...and I love it all so much.

OC’s Answer 15 Q’s Tag
okey i know this took a while and there are so many more tag games that I need to do, but once I take over the world i will outlaw school so i can have time to do these, so please don’t hesitate to tag me in more stuff!
I was tagged by @thatsadwriter so thanks for that!
Okay so what I’m gonna do is that P (from the Metalrifter) is answering, but both Rigby and Olsen (from stories Friends & the Universe and Life in the Rivers respectively) are also they’re butting in whenever they want. They are in Violet’s apartment house being interviewed btw.
rules: answer fifteen questions as either yourself or your ocs, then tag fifteen people
————————
what is your full name?
“Oh that’s easy. P.”
“Are you serious? You’re the one with some weird-ass nickname and you decided to take this question?” Rigby says.
“Well I don’t have any other names, do I?” P snaps back. “What about your name huh? If mine’s so flawed.”
“I never thought you’d ask.” chuckles Rigby. He tilts his head to the side and combs his hair back. “Rigby Diggins here.” P chortles.
“What’s so funny to you?” Rigby hisses.
“No matter how many times I hear your last name, I laugh.” P responds. “It sounds like a cartoon character’s.”
“Enough.” Rigby says, “Alright Olsen, hit us with your full name.”
“Oh me?” Olsen says. “Well my full name is Olsen Maegan Rivers.”
“At least SOMEBODY has a normal name here.” P says.
“Wait weren’t you technically adopted by Violet though?” Olsen asks. “You guys are technically brother and sister or something right?”
P sighs. “Yeah, I guess.”
“So what is your real full name?”
“P Patterson.”
“I’m calling you Peepa from now on.” Rigby says.
“Please don’t.”
what is your gender? “I’m a guy.” P says.
“Are you sure about that, Peepa?” Rigby teases.
“I’m this close to whooping your ass into next week.”
what does your full name mean?
“Uh, I don’t know. It just is my name.” says P.
“Why did you answer the question if that was the answer you would give” asked Rigby.
“Fine then, its over to you.” says P.
“That’s what I’m talking about! Well my name is Rigby because of my free spirit. What can I say, I’m special!”
“Yeah, I don’t doubt that.” says P. “What about you Olsen?”
“Well I looked it up, and a website said that my name meant ‘descendant’. I guess that makes sense, since my ancestor founded my hometown.”
any nicknames or other names?
“My code name is Captain Orbit, or just Orbit.” says P. “That’s what they call me up in space.”
what is your sexuality?
“Huh, I’ve actually never really thought about what kind of people I like.” P says.
“You gotta be kidding me, you’re the most boring person ever.” Rigby says. “And by the way, I’m bi.”
“What does it mean to be bi?” P asks.
“You’re joking.”
P shakes his head.
“Oh, come on!” Rigby exclaims. “Even Olsen knows what that means! How are you this royally uneducated? I thought you were Violet’s brother, but it really is evident that you two are adopted siblings.”
“Hey!” Olsen snaps his fingers. “Calm down. Jesus, you’re always a lit fuse aren’t you?”
“Lit in more ways than one.” Rigby says with a sly smile. He looks at P thinking that he would get the joke, but his humor is that of a wet towel.
where are you from?
“I’m not really sure.” says P.
“EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOUR ANSWERS HAVE BEEN EXCEPTIONALLY SHITTY OH MY GOD I CANNOT HANDLE THIS ANY LONGER” says Rigby.
“Shut your goddamn mouth up.” P says, sending metal up to Rigby’s mouth to inhibit his speech. In response, he starts clawing at it.
Olsen raises his hand in anticipation. “Hey, can I go?”
“Sure go ahead.” P responds.
“Okay so,” Olsen starts. “I was born in Riveria, a small town in--”
Rigby rips off the metal restraining his mouth. “God, can’t a man have freedom of speech? I think you just single-handedly cured my iron deficiency. Anyways I know you guys don’t care, but I was born and raised in glamorous LA.”
“Can you just shut it and listen to Olsen?” P says.
“I knew you wouldn’t care. Hurts, man.”
“As Olsen was saying, he lives in Riveria, and…?” P says.
“Oh yeah! And my great great great great grandfather actually founded the town.” Olsen continues.
“Oh really? Do you want a medal?” Rigby says, reclining back in his chair.
when were you born?
“I WILL take this one, okay?” Rigby says.
“Fine.” says P.
“I was born June the 22nd, 1990. The greatest day on Earth.” Rigby says.
P scoffs.
“You guys can’t even say anything, because your author was negligent enough to not give you definitive birthdays yet!”
Olsen sighs. “Yeah, that’s a problem.”
whoops sorry
how old are you?
“I’m about twenty two I’d say,” says P.
“I’m twenty nine. Hah, beatcha.” Rigby says.
“I’m seventeen.” Olsen says.
where do you live?
“Oh, uh, here.” P says, pointing down at the ground.
Rigby mocks him. “Uh, oh, um, uh, here. Where is here dumbass?”
“Queens. New York.” P says in a stiff tone.
“Better. Now watch an interesting person take this question.” Rigby says. “Right now, I’m currently residing in space, specifically in the port of the Planet Happi.”
“P-Probably not so, uh, ‘Happi’ when you’re there!” Olsen calls out.
“Hey-o! High five!” P exclaims. The two share a hand slap. “So where do you live, Olsen?”
“Well I lived Riveria until I left to LA during my middle school years. I came back to my hometown about 2 years ago.”
P suppresses a laugh. “Sorry, I just can’t let that joke go.”
“It wasn’t even that funny.” Rigby says, crossing his arms.
what are your quirks?
“What would constitute as a quirk?” Olsen asks.
“It’s what makes you weird and shit.” Rigby says. “P should go first, since this is literally the only question that can make him sound like a cool person.”
“I’d clock you, but I have to answer this question.” P says. “So, I Metalrift. What that essentially means is that I can control and manipulate metal with my mind. It’s super useful, but it took a grueling process to acquire. I have a few other friends that can rift other things, like Scott Walker. He can rift rock, and he’s damn good at it too.”
“I for one,” Rigby says, “Am competent at what I do without the help of magic, but with the help of a little bit of alchies. I shoot aliens and shit. Ain’t that right Peepa?” He smiles as he puts his hand on P’s shoulder. He shrugs Rigby’s hand off.
“What about you, Olsen?” Rigby asks.
“Well, I’m really good with a blade, a machete specifically. Still, my friend, Lisa, taught me how to properly fight. I have a signature backswing and everything.” Olsen says. “Also P I hope you wouldn't mind metalrifting for us. I mean I've seen it in combat, but not really up close and personal. Could you?”
“Uh, sure, I don’t see why not,” P says, looking around the apartment for any loose metal lying around. “I don’t see any metal though.”
“Wait no, I got you.” Rigby says, pulling out a ray gun and a hammer from the inside of his coat.
“Perfect! I can just extract the metal from the g--”
Rigby starts to casually smash the gun, reducing it to metal bits and bobs. “There you go, rift away.” Rigby says.
P lifts the metal with his mind, and formulates a small elephant on the table using the bits and bobs. It walks around and spurts tiny pieces of metal out of its trunk.
“Oh sweet!” Olsen exclaims.
“Okay yeah, that’s pretty sick, I gotta admit.” says Rigby. “Hey, that rhymes!”
who are your family members? “Uh, next question.” Olsen says. who are your pets?
“I have a turtle, and he is the light of my life.” says Rigby.
“And what’s his name?” Olsen asks.
“Cadet. What a little man.” Rigby says.
“Why’s his name Cadet?” P asks.
“I’m glad you asked.” says Rigby. “I named him after my favorite wine, Mouton Cadet.”
“How original.” P dryly says.
what do you look like?
“Well, I have black hair and green eyes” says P. “Also, I wear a red flannel with a black shirt underneath, and topping it all off with my signature blue pants and black shoes.”
“Alright, my turn!” says Rigby. “So I dyed my hair blond, but my original hair color is brown. I have blue eyes and an amazing goatee. I’m wearing my space uniform right now, which is a blue collar necked coat-jacket that has a white stripe near the bottom, black pants strapped with a holster, black boots, and black gloves. Oh, also I’m a hell of a lot taller than P. Five foot ten ass…”
“How tall are you then?” asks P.
“Six foot three.” Rigby triumphantly says.
“What about you Olsen?”
“Alright,” Olsen says, “Well I have brown hair, a bit combed to the side, brown eyes, and freckles. I wear a red short sleeve with a gray long sleeve undershirt, along with blue jeans and regular sneakers. Oh, and I’m five foot ten too!”
“Shorties.” says Rigby.
who’s your hero?
“Definitely my uncle,” says Olsen. “He’s a real inspiration and always has great advice for me.”
“Both my friends Violet and Basil are amazing people and I wouldn’t be alive for them, so probably those two people.” says P.
“I really like the Hamburglar.” says Rigby. The others stare at him. “What? He really got me to buy more burgers, honest!”
what’s your moral alignment?
“Yo dude!” Rigby says. “I’m uhh,” He snaps his fingers, “Chaotic good.”
P chimes in, “I’m definitely lawful good.”
“And that leaves neutral good for me!” says Olsen. “Wait that’s the last question right?”
“Yeah, and wow I’m so glad we’re done with this.” says P.
“Why?” asks Olsen.
“So I can do this.” P says, getting up from his seat and knocking Rigby’s lights out.

mantis-blades replied to your post: the preview for the next episode has me tired...
I can’t stand Blum and I can’t stand the both sides are wrong false equivalencey nonsense they have been trying to shove down our throats this whole season.
First of all: I can’t stand Blum either. I share Marissa’s reaction to him: he’s boring. He’s a human embodiment of the Themes of the Show, but he’s toothless (unless you’re Maia, but honestly, Maia behaved very irresponsibly several times over and earned her firing).
Part two got really effing long, so it’s under a cut
That said: I don’t think, truly, that they’re trying to say both sides are the same. (For instance, this week I think the show was pretty clearly of the stance that Nazis are bad and Jay punching a Nazi is good and okay - and I guess the moderate conservatives in this instance chose not to align themselves with the Nazis. In the real world, there are plenty of people like “Nazis are awful, but PUNCHING THEM?!?!” The show didn’t have a crisis about the okay-ness of this; it had a monologue confirming the okay-ness of this.) They’ve been asking questions more like, how do you fight harmful lies when no one seems to care about the truth? and more broadly, how far can you go toward monstrous but effective tactics without becoming monstrous? The show has positioned “ethical” and “effective” as, if not dichotomous, at least in tension (effectiveness being the thing that might call you to behave unethically).
The show has a sense of the things that are clearly okay (punch a Nazi, register anti-45 voters, work against CPD on police brutality cases) and things that are clearly not okay (out and cruelly harass a trans girl; not get Kurt medical attention because it would interfere with hunting), but there are places it’s less clear. The hiring question was one - Liz’s “it’s about who we are.” Is it ok, in-universe, to (bad) hire people we disapprove of but that it’s politically advantageous to have around or take ethically murky cases if (good) that makes it possible, politically or financially, to do work that’s important? (This gets consistently negotiated, of course; Liz and Adrian took different sides when it was about hiring. In this case, for what it’s worth, I read the show as being more on Liz’s, or the more lefty, side - but the fact that they’re actively discussing their identity as a firm in these terms indicates that it’s a priority.) Is it ok, in-universe, to (bad) out and cruelly harass a trans girl if (good) it leads to the registration of tens of thousands of anti-45 voters?
The problem is that often as not, TGF is a blunt instrument. So last week we get Diane’s white lady resistance doing objectively horrible things because they like the end result, and both Diane and Liz end up going along with them because they were effective (as opposed to the *~resistance~* meeting Diane attended at the beginning of the episode, where no one could even agree on what the message was)--I wasn’t convinced as an audience member that their action was either effective enough or the only option, so there wasn’t strong tension; it was just a clearly wrong thing to do without a compelling argument for the people who did it. I think we’re supposed to see this as them compromising their values substantially but doing it anyway; I don’t think we’re supposed to see them as Just As Bad. And in general, I just don’t see the kind of both-sides-ism from the show that you’re talking about. When the show works, I see the protagonists - especially Diane previously and especially Liz now, and shoutout to Barbara Kolstad here for making real moves that way, even if it was to get written off the show, because she’s my wife and I respect her - genuinely struggling with this. (Liz taking on the responsibility for her dad’s rape and sexual assault but still getting NDAs instead of just like burning the whole thing down is an example here. She’s treating people with dignity and facing up to it - she’s not Just As Bad As Him in any way - but she’s still protecting the firm.) But it’s...also been known to fail at nuance.
Blum, for instance, has no nuance. He’s an answer to this question in human form - he’s all the way down the line where effectiveness matters entirely and ethics not at all. That’s why he’s boring: he’s the blunt-force trauma version of the Themes of the Show. TGF is trying to acknowledge the ridiculousness inherent in a world that values and responds to Blums and the absurdity of trying to exist in opposition to that within it - and sometimes it succeeds! Pitting Elsbeth Tascioni against Mike Kresteva made for great TV; Liz arguing to Margo Martindale (I forget her character’s name) (Ruth? Eastman?) that the truth doesn’t matter and getting hired for her *~anger~* was a hell of a ride. But the show has felt like a drag for me lately; part of that is that it’s been pretty humorless, but I think part of it is also that there’s been no one really fighting for the other side. Liz makes some stabs at it; Lucca and Jay have done a little, but they don’t have as much power as most of our characters.
But also - I don’t know whether you watched The Good Wife? I’m going to talk about The Good Wife, and the reason is that Alicia’s character arc was also very grounded in this ethics-effectiveness dichotomy. Over the course of the series, a lot of her development was on a path from wanting to do good to being willing to do what she had to, and what she had to would get pushed just a little farther and a little farther. (Alicia wasn’t in the law to help people; she was in the law because it made sense, and she liked being good at it.) But there was also a thing with her where at the same time that people (characters, in-universe people) were pushing her to be colder and more focused on succeeding at whatever cost in her professional life, they hated her for changing in the same way as a person - they only wanted her to be cruel during the nine to five, but how she worked was part of who she was. In I think season six, she sort of tries to facilitate a similar transformation in another high-minded character, but he backs out in the end. something she either hadn’t been able to do or hadn’t chosen to do (spoiler: both). It literally offers us an alternative to Alicia’s decisions and a person, when she’s far along in her like moral decay practically, who makes a different call. In Alicia, we get a protagonist who often makes harmful choices and certainly isn’t a good person, overall, being understandable and maybe even justified in a particular choice while still clearly seeing that she becomes worse - the show doesn’t approve of all her choices and align with her morally just because she’s the protagonist.
I bring this up because TGW was concerned with these things for seven seasons. This question of how much bad you can do (for the sake of good?) before you’re too bad, this question of how much ethically to compromise in order to accomplish what you (think you) need to, they’re baked into the universe of the show and clearly interests for its creators. So when I say I don’t think they’re being super both-sides-y, part of that is because TGW gave us seven seasons of a tension much like the one that TGF is trying to hold without writing off the distinction to make it easier. TGF situates this more in how you behave politically in the world than TGW generally did (except occasionally through Diane), but I think it has a fairly clear sense in that political existence of what goodness means. You might not always be able to accomplish it, and actions rather than people are good or bad (or at least, people are bad as a function of doing bad things), but I don’t think just because the “good” side sometimes does bad things, the show is necessarily heavy on both-sides-ism. It’s less two separate cups and more the string between two cups, with people and stances at different places on that axis.
I also think the show is trying more and more to uncouple the concepts of order and goodness, which have previously been uneasy allies in-universe. (Think of everyone’s horror when Liz suggested the DNC’s arguments needn’t be based in truth; think of how cruel Maia’s retaliatory fake news was. Worse - think how Diane was really presented as having the high ground when she told the Assholes to Avoid lady to do it right next time! Publishing unsubstantiated allegations that were clearly labeled as such was ‘doing it wrong’ at that point.) So some of the things that have previously been presented as bad AND associated with the right are now being presented more neutrally when associated with the left. I don’t think that’s a criticism of the left; I don’t think, for instance, that the first creation of retaliatory fake news by the white lady resistance (the one that closed the other fake news factory - I’m NOT talking about the stuff with the sister) was something we were supposed to see as bad or as an ethical compromise. The normal has changed, in-universe. Certain tactics that aren't necessarily harmful have been decoupled from ethical stigma that they received because they weren’t associated with order and honesty - the world has changed, and our characters are changing along with it. It’s totally possible that I’m misreading this situation, but I do think it means we’re seeing people in positions we would previously have considered compromised without seeing them as compromised. I don’t think the show has done a terrible job with this, though.
I also think the show is weaker when it takes this on outside of the workplace - it’s clearly decided it wants to situate some of its dilemmas in Diane’s personal life and not her professional life, but it benefits from having to work this out within existing, robust character relationships, not just a single person’s struggles or via some characters who are about as central to our understanding of the show as the NSA guys. So a lot of the white lady resistance stuff feels pretty thin to me, and that could be causing me to give it, and in particular its bad behavior (mostly just the thing with the sister, right? but that was really so bad), less weight than the show wants me to. Maybe it’s trying to be more both-sides-y than I’m reading it because I find the workplace stuff more real and impactful. But I feel like a lot of that has been really neglected - was the stuff about whether to hire conservatives for the sake of expediency just kind of closed when they made Lucca the head of family law, for instance? It’s been really focused on being murky but not on, like, situating that in its world and its story lmao.

What your D&D Class Says About You
Fighter: You are probably not a very interesting person. I mean, for pete’s sake, in the game where you can be any number of unique and interesting classes, you choose the guy who can do absolutely nothing but whack people with a stick. But yeah, cool, you get extra feats and you’re a meat shield for the rogue and wizard.
Barbarian: You seriously want to be the Hulk. If you didn’t play as a half-Orc, you played as a regular one. Your weapon of choice is most likely a greataxe. You “secretly” use D&D as an excuse to vent your frustrations at the world around you, and often like to use your rage ability to shout and scream.
Cleric: You are the dad/mom friend. You realized that everyone else would be screwed without a healer, and so you chose the one healing class in the game. Sure, it’s not that bad, you’re still a decent melee class with a good range of harmful and helpful spells, but you know that you’d probably try a different class in a heartbeat if given the option.
Druid: You wanted to be a Cleric, but realized that Druids kind of have it all. Spells, armor, and you can even turn into an animal if you need to actually fight. You may or may not also be a giant hippie who wants to play the most-natural class out there, pun intended.
Monk: You want to be Naruto, Goku, or any other anime character out there. Sure, you can’t throw a rasenshuriken or kamehameha, but monks are also the only class that makes unarmed combat actually viable, and you really wanna punch things.
Paladin: You would have chosen a cleric, but you don’t really care about your party members. So, you decided to go with the best of both worlds- a slightly-less-than-fighter who gets a few dinky spells and a few healing abilities. You’re also not going to use any of those on your party members until the fight is over. If you wanted to actually be a healer, you would have chosen a Cleric.
Ranger: Something about this class called to you- maybe it was how it was a dex-based fighter with bonuses to specific enemy types. Maybe it was being able to get Druid spells without having a Neutral alignment. Maybe you just wanted an excuse to stay far, far away from the actual combat while still participating.
Bard: You really loved to play Rock Band. Whether or not you were good at it is up for debate, but, regardless, you absolutely love music and acting and all the performing arts. You don’t even really mind having to play a generalist class who’s mediocre at everything but buffing his party members and interacting with NPCs. You most likely sing your favorite songs when using your bardic powers, or recite your favorite poems. That, or you’re just a nutjob who wanted to be as annoying as possible, and realized that the class all about performing is the best way to accomplish that.
Wizard: You are a being of phenomenal cosmic power, a being who bends the fabric of reality itself! Or at least, you thought you would be; as it is, you feel kind of ridiculous having to rest after every fight just to get your spells back, because you don’t actually have any meaningful number of them yet. And the ones you do have, while useful, aren’t that great. But just you wait until you get to level nine spells, because then you’ll show them all! That’s what you tell yourself, anyways.
Sorcerer: You like playing Wizards, you really do, but the fact is, quality is better than quantity. And those pansy bookworms have way too few spell slots! You’d much rather just bombard your foes with fireballs and summoned monsters- after all, that’s what spellcasters are supposed to do!
Warlock: You tried playing a sorcerer, but you still kept running out of spells! Also, you killed your party members with one too many Fireballs. Instead, you decided that you needed to play a class that gets tons of spells per day, can let you really hurt your foes with magic, and doesn’t make you accidentally kill your party. In comes the Warlock! A class so bizarre and twisty, few can genuinely understand it, let alone master it. Good luck!
Favored Soul: Good job- you managed to be a Cleric and a Sorcerer at the same time! Too bad the class isn’t really good for much other than multiclassing into a Prestige Class intended for Clerics and Paladins. You are clearly an optimizer, or a newbie who wants to heal without restriction. Either way, you probably annoy your DM.
Spirit Shaman: Wow, how deep did you even dig for this one? It’s a class designed to combat a specific meta-category of foes, ones who tend to be quite uncommon save in a few campaigns. Either you didn’t actually understand what a Spirit Shaman can and cannot do, or your DM decided to run a campaign with tons of spirits, and let you play as the class designed specifically to combat them.
Swashbuckler: You wanted to be a pirate, and Duelist is a prestige class. On the upside, you chose the one melee class that does a lot of damage without extra-special weapons; on the downside, your stats are a bit all over the place. You don’t mind though, because you see yourself as a discount rogue. Sure, you can’t pick a lock or disarm traps, and you don’t get a sneak attack bonus, but... wait, where were you going with that?

Rachel’s Rambles - 6x03 Next of Kin
Okay, time to fess up...which one of you is actually a paid staff member of the Arrow writers? Because what I saw on my screen this week was like the best kind of fanfiction...and I truly mean that as a compliment. The kind of fanfiction that absolutely nails the characterizations of the characters while giving me some fluff that help with additional character development.
My more detailed rambles are behind the cut...
The Good
SO MUCH GOOD this episode. I have to admit, I’ve been loving this season of Arrow so far. And I’m pretty sure from what I know of upcoming episodes, that love is only gonna deepen. But I’ll try to limit my rambling tonight!
First things first: OLICITY IS BACK, Y’ALL. LET THAT SINK IN.
Not just “oh they shared a kiss in the finale”. Not just “they’re on a path towards each other”. No, they are INDISPUTABLY BACK TOGETHER ON THE SHOW.
Now, I’ve been an Olicity shipper from season 2 on. I never doubted that someday the show would allow them to get back together. But last year was hard. It’s so nice that here we are, three episodes in, and the show isn’t even trying to beat around the bush anymore. I totally respect that they paused their relationship so William could adjust to his new normal. But there comes a time to press “play” again, and Oliver recognized they’d hit that point.
And can I just say how delightful and refreshing it is to see Oliver taking the lead? For him to tell Felicity with utter sincerity that she would make William’s life better, just like she makes Oliver’s life better? That’s relationship goals, my friends!
(Side note: How adorable is it that Oliver not only wrapped the key to his apartment, but took the time to pick out a keychain that’s a smiley face with glasses? He’s such a sap, and I absolutely adore him for it.)
Arrow writers, I’ll sort of forgive you for fading to black, if only because I know that fandom will happily step in to fill that gap. And because there were so many other fabulous scenes we got tonight.
Like...Felicity and William. I’ve been somewhat neutral on William being full-time in Oliver’s life. On the one hand, William--and Oliver submitting to Samantha’s demands he keep William secret--was the whole underlying reason Olicity blew up in season 4. On the other hand, I was excited to see Oliver as a father. And man, did the William storyline deliver tonight. I loved the sense of normalcy that a math test brought to the show. I love that Oliver went seeking advice from a fellow father (Quentin), then Felicity. Her grin when he asked her for help was priceless. And then again when Oliver asked Felicity to tutor William...but all that paled in comparison to the actual scene with Felicity and William. It was everything I could ever hope for. They connected, they were starting to bond, and William was just as enchanted by Felicity as his father was from their first meeting. Give me all the Queen family feels!!
I loved all the nods to Oliver loving to cook this week, from making William breakfast to the nightime snack of Monte Cristos. And gee, Felicity, something tells me that Oliver must have made you a few Monte Cristos late at night during season 3.5 and 4a. Though I’m raising an eyebrow at the waffles. I don’t know realistically how good those would be as the bread for a Monte Cristo. ;) Also, I cracked up at Felicity scrambling to pick up the boxes of take out when Oliver commented on what she’d done with the loft. And the contrast between Oliver making William breakfast, and Felicity eating a bag of chips because she hadn’t had breakfast? Yeah, I see you, show. I’m gonna need lots of scenes of Oliver making both Felicity and William breakfast ;)
LOVED the Diggle and Oliver talk--it was so rewarding to see their roles reversed, I enjoyed Oliver joking about the brooding being a part of the costume. I also appreciated that Diggle’s wife and son were brought up, and addressed. I know that was something that was left hanging in the air last week. The fact that they took the time to address it? Gives me continued hope for the direction of this season.
Also loved that Felicity confronted the team when things went wrong, but also was understanding and supportive of John after he explained. It’s going to be interesting to see the dynamic with Dig leading the team and Oliver staying out of things, to see how Felicity’s role develops.
I like Samandra Watson as a nemesis. It’s a different feel than the typical bad guys, and she’s unpredictable. I think there are elements of what they were trying to do with Dragon Lady’s character last year, but they are a lot more believable coming from Agent Watson’s character. It’s nice to see somebody with some brains piecing together the obvious about Oliver, and his close associates. I mean, someone was gonna figure it out eventually...
Loved seeing Oliver succeed at mayor-ing this week...though Star City’s political structure baffles me (especially after I went through nine weeks of classes about my local city government...that’s where I’ve been Thursday nights ;) Really, though, would it kill the writers to out a tiny bit more effort into the city government structure??)
And I could keep rambling on about all the wonderful things in this week’s episode, but I’ll limit myself to two three more: I really enjoyed the fight in and around the limo with Green Arrow and Onyx; I love that Oliver did end up taking William to a Rockets game; and I really appreciated that Felicity is the one who is going to name her new company (including the nod to Oracle once again).
The Bad
This week’s villain felt like a filler. We know that Michael Emerson is out there, and that there are multiple villains this year, but this felt much more like an old school villain of the week than either Black Siren or Anatoly--probably because we didn’t have the history with Onyx that we have with the other two. She was effective enough for New Team Arrow to grow and develop, but that’s really all she was...fairly unremarkable. And did they ever address why she and her team weren’t bothered by the flash bangs?
I like Dinah...I really do. But the idea that she’s the only one who noticed something was wrong with Diggle, when Felicity was the one who was there when it happened and also happened to be in the bunker when they were arguing--you’re trying to sell me that she didn’t know something was up too? Yeah, right.
WHY THE FADE TO BLACK, Arrow? Take advantage of your 9 pm slot already!!
The Ugly
JOHN WHY ARE YOU SHOOTING UP?!?!?! This is SO going to bite you in the butt in a few weeks when Oliver finds out. UGH. (Though...,my amazing friend @mrsd923 is working on a very interesting theory about Dig and how what’s going on may be part of a bigger storyline...)
The anti flash bang glasses just reminded me of eclipse glasses and I may have laughed a little too much at them.
Also, totally giggled at Dinah’s Canary Cry containing the nerve gas. But hey, this is still a show based on comic books, so I’ll go with it.
Next Up and Last Thoughts
More Black Siren....I’m underwhelmed. But I did see that lovely shot of Felicity and Oliver in the bunker, and I’m intrigued by the article that hints at Felicity’s personal storyline heating up, with regards to something personally connected to her that she doesn’t lean on the team about. Michael Emerson’s debut, perhaps? :)
Also, the promo didn’t show it, but the lovely promo pictures did: Olicity is going on a date next week. And it looks like a beautiful revamp of their very first date, only minus the explosions. I AM SO EXCITED.
You could see hints of the supposed “Civil War” alignments to come...Rene going Team Oliver, Dinah going Team Diggle. It’ll be very interesting to see how it all shakes out!
Am I the only one absolutely not missing flashbacks this year? I think they’re a handy storytelling device when they make sense, but I already think this season is stronger without being tied to flashbacks.
Felicity’s comment that the loft is only six blocks from City Hall only serves to confirm that the loft and Oliver’s apartment are either in the same building, or in the same complex/block.
That’s all I’ve got! Looking forward to seeing all the fantastic fics that pick up where the show left off with a very rude fade to black. And as always, you can find me on Twitter or message me on Tumblr. Until next time!

Ahh, Runaan and Viren. I love to compare and contrast these two, and also to throw Harrow into the mix. At their hearts, the dad characters are basically the same person. Earnest and well meaning, and loving their kids. The different ways they were raised and the different positions they hold have affected their viewpoints, and that’s affected their kids. But absolutely, with Runaan being Lawful Neutral and Viren being Chaotic Neutral, they really do have a lot in common in their approaches to hard choices.
That’s why they butt heads so hard in the dungeon. They’re so close, yet so far, from understanding each other.
The primary core of their differences is, like you said, @skyfireflight, Runaan has more things he won’t do. Sure, anyone can be pushed too far. But I think their alignments really say a lot about how far is too far.
Runaan is Lawful Neutral: he follows the rules, and he doesn’t really look too hard at whether they’re fair. He conveniently excuses himself from needing a moral opinion that way. Yes, death and life are big parts of Moonshadow culture, and culling the herd, as it were, does have value to some small degree. But Runaan is literally putting himself in someone else’s hands and saying “tell me what to do.” And that person, at least this once, is a dragon. Who knows what dragon morality is like? It seems problematic at best so far.
If we push Runaan too far, I think he’ll snap. And then he’ll be horrified. He could do terrible, terrible things with his skill set. And if he ever had to face the consequences of his own, personal moral choices? He’d judge himself with the harshest rule he knows. Taking himself out of the equation won’t go very far toward reparations either, but that’s all he knows.
Viren is Chaotic Neutral: he doesn’t really believe in rules, not when push comes to shove. He looks at how the rules can work for him, and when they don’t? He finds a creative solution. I don’t believe there is such a thing as “too far” for Viren. He’s gotten his BFF’s wife killed and then he spent the next nine years continuing to do dark magic. Yes, it was complicated. Yes, he was very sad. But Viren cannot see his own personal responsibility in the choices he makes. He only sees the results. And he thinks everyone else only wants results, too.
I think that “hard enough to do whatever it takes” is not something Runaan applies to his life outside his job. He has a stable relationship and a child he’s raising. He experiences and enjoys the softness there, and I don’t think he’d endanger it with extra hard choices. But Viren, poor guy, does not have a stable relationship with anyone. His wife has gone, and Harrow has turned on him, and Aaravos is manipulating him. If Viren had someone to balance him and even out his chaos, I think Viren would be highly motivated to make better, softer choices. He always starts with the soft choices. But without anyone to convince him not to go full hardcore, he always seems to end up at the worst end of the spectrum to get things done.
Both of these guys operate within the Narrative of Strength, and they do put their missions first, for themselves. Viren talks about being weak vs being strong, and forcing history to go the way he wants. Runaan lets himself be used as a tool of strength, to reach out and weaken the other side. Neither of them let love trump their own personal work choices.
Runaan did protect Rayla though, whereas Viren endangered his own kids. Viren could’ve found other ways to do what he wanted. Trusted different, older people (literally any of those guards who never spoke up when he stole Callum’s voice, maybe?), or headed out himself. But he told Claudia to become a repo girl and Soren to become an assassin.
Runaan absolutely trained his 15 year old ward to kill people. That’s not what we want our kids learning at that age. Child soldiers are bad. But Xadia is at war, and there is a philosophy behind martial arts that can be very balanced, and I think Runaan embraces that wholly and imparted that wisdom, on some level, to Rayla as well. There are no doubt parts of it that are as dark and unbalanced as the things Claudia and Soren have learned from Viren, though.
With all the layered shenanigans I see in the Moonshadow narrative, I’m eagerly awaiting S3 to tell me how far back Runaan really planned what parts of this mission. Did he really plan to let Rayla kill a child? Maybe he did. He was certainly willing to. But maybe he didn’t. He never told Rayla what Ezran looked like or how old he was, because Rayla believed Callum when he said he was Ezran. Rayla got all the way to the castle and didn’t know how to identify her target. That’s not good mission prep, so I have doubts there.
Did I mention how much I love these two dorks? I love them. I want them both to find redemption and balance. Runaan needs to learn to be soft, and to think for himself. I think he already can be soft, but his Moonshadow ways are very deeply ingrained, and I’m not sure he’s got the right sort of non-Moonshadow company to change his views.
Viren needs to learn to be soft, and to listen to and consider the needs of others as they truly are, not what he wants them to be. He thinks for himself too much. If he were to, say, fall in love with a soft, non-manipulative person? That would be perfect. Or some other motivating relationship, since his kids aren’t apparently enough to sway his heart yet.
As they stand now, and with what we know, Viren seems to have caused the most chaos, death, and destruction with his choices. He’s used dark magic repeatedly, not only killing living things for his spells, but engaging in battles and quests that have gotten pillars of the human kingdoms and Xadia killed, bringing even more chaos.
That said, maybe the reason Viren knows so much about the ways of Moonshadow assassins--from what he tells Harrow and what he tells Runaan in the dungeon--is because Runaan has been flitting about the human kingdoms for years, murdering all kinds of people and causing exactly as much chaos by toppling those in charge.
In one of my wip fics, I have Ezran call Runaan “Xadia’s dark magic.” Runaan would be (and is) horrified to be called such a thing. But it’s true. He takes life, and Xadia gains power as a result. When he spares lives because he doesn’t take them lightly, he calls that mercy--like how Claudia adores dragons and butterflies when she doesn’t need their essence. But Runaan is still killing something. Moonshadow assassins are Xadia’s dark magic.
Runaan and Viren are both using terrible means to achieve what they believe is right. And they’ve both gotta stop or they’ll destroy everything.
Runaan and Viren: A Comparison
Viren gets a lot of flak for his actions, and rightfully so.
But I remember thinking, after watching season 1, that Runaan and Viren would be pretty much the same people (Runaan being like Viren, and Viren being like Runaan) if they were on the opposite side and their roles were switched. And if not completely the same people, at least very close to it.
You're free to disagree with me, of course, but I'm going to put my thoughts about it here.
They're pretty similar already:
1) Viren: A "pragmatist"
Runaan: Has a heart that's "hard enough to do whatever it takes"
2) Viren: Willing to kill children for the sake of protecting his kingdom (a more tangible cause)
Runaan: Willing to kill children for the sake of justice (an ideological cause)
3) Viren: Willing to sacrifice his own children if necessary, putting the mission first
Runaan: Willing to kill Rayla, who is like a daughter to him, if necessary, putting the mission first
4) Viren: Sent out his child (Soren) to kill other children (Callum and Ezran)
Runaan: Brought along a child (Rayla) to help kill another child (Ezran)
5) Viren: Willing to sacrifice himself, or the life of another soldier, to save Harrow with minimal deaths
Runaan: Willing to sacrifice himself and/or his team members for his mission, but would prefer to do it with minimal deaths
6) Viren: Killed guards to avoid capture
Runaan: Willing to kill a guard to avoid detection, killed guards on his way to assassinate Harrow
And if you hear them talk, they even have similar demeanors.
The only big differences I see between Runaan and Viren are
1) Viren's willingness to lie
2) Runaan's qualms with dark magic and with trapping people's souls in objects.
Though one could argue that Runaan masking himself and his team members as trees was a lie, in a way.
So, Runaan does have a few more lines he's unwilling to cross than Viren does.
Though I do wonder if that's nature or nurture.
After all, the culture Runaan was raised in is very strict about oaths and honesty. And the elves in general are taught to think of dark magic as evil, but humans are not taught this.
You could also point out that Runaan doesn't "take lives lightly," but I would argue that Viren doesn't take them lightly either. And I think their different approaches to this has a lot to do with their different job positions.
Runaan is an assassin. He's called for a job, kills his target, and then goes home, and he doesn't have to think about it afterwards.
Viren doesn't get to "go home". He lives at the castle. His home is his job. When Harrow was alive, Viren was constantly at his side, advising him and trying to help the kingdom and humanity. Now, helping Katolis, and the rest of humanity, is still his job. And it's not a one-and-done deal; it's something he has to be constantly thinking about.
Runaan's cause, at least for this mission, was justice, and he was willing to do what was necessary for the sake of this cause. And since it's not a continuous job, he has to jump the "these lives are not taken lightly" hurdle each time.
Viren's cause is helping his kingdom and protecting humanity, and he's willing to do what is necessary for the sake of this cause. Though he doesn't give a big speech about "not taking lives lightly" and only doing what was necessary, I think it's because by now, years into his position, he doesn't need to. He's already jumped that hurdle. He's already told himself, "This is my job, and I must to what is necessary, whatever it takes, to do my job." And he doesn't have to do this each time, like Runaan does, because he's never left his job. There is no "each time." The first time never stopped.
And Runaan's job is just in the present, but with Viren's job, he has to think about and plan for both the present and the future. He has to think about "what can be useful to help Katolis and humanity years down the road? What possible future problems (famine, war, epidemics, etc.) do I need to prepare solutions for?" And plan ahead accordingly.
So, putting people's souls in coins? Objectively horrible, yes. But also, in Viren's eyes, though maybe not necessary for the present, it may prove necessary for something in the future.
The creators have said that Runaan is an earnest person. So, if Runaan had the same position as Viren, I think he would at first be more honest and upfront in his methods than Viren.
But if honest and upfront didn't work? And then didn't work, and didn't work, and kept not working? I think Runaan, with his "heart that is hard enough to do whatever it takes," would feel he has to try darker methods, including lying. Would he go as far as Viren (trapping people's souls in coins, something he called Viren a monster for), and get to the same place Viren is now? I think he might, eventually; he would just need a much bigger push.
Part of Viren's actions also, as has been mentioned by others, is the result Viren's own insecurities and feelings of uselessness. And that is, I think, where his little sadistic streak comes from (like how Viren was gloating about Runaan's defiance turning into fear once he was trapped in the coin). With his own feelings of uselessness, whenever Viren is able to hold power and prove his power over an opponent (like making them fear him), it's reasonable to think that it's going to make him feel better about himself. That he'd be gleeful about it, in a "Yes! Victory!" kind of way.
But if Viren was in Runaan's position, a Moonshadow assassin? I think he wouldn't have those insecurities and feelings of uselessness. He would have inner primal magic as a source of power, for one, so no need to stock up on ingredients for dark magic; not to mention he would have been taught that dark magic was evil.
Plus, with his job being "kill the target as quickly as possible and go home," not having to think about solving future kingdom-wide, race-wide problems, he wouldn't have the same immense pressure looming over him as he does now, and neither the time nor need to gloat over those he overpowered.
Being raised in Moonshadow culture, too, would reinforce his earnest side that we know he has. And an assassin's job, at least for this mission, is pretty straight forward, and the rest of his team knows what they're getting into. No need to lie to his team members.
I think the situation with Rayla would have gone the same way, too. Runaan found a way to at first keep Rayla out of harm's way, telling both her and himself that she wasn't necessary to the mission and would only be a hindrance. Then, when faced with the possible necessity of killing her, Runaan found an out for that as well, realizing he could just leave their fight and finish the other half of the mission.
Viren loves his children, but just like Runaan, he's putting the mission first. And he didn't outright tell Claudia to choose the Dragon Prince egg over Soren until she brought it up. But there was still an out; choosing Soren over the egg was only for if there was no other option. So, if it were Viren in Runaan's position, I believe he would have found the same outs for Rayla, as well.
Feel free to add to this, or offer counterpoints.

Official Reference Sheet for My DnD Gem Quest Party!
Hey guys, Minty here! I know I’ve posted a lot about my Gem Quest Campaign DnD Party, but I’ve never really explained their characters, or even the party NPCs, so this post will be a reference to that for anyone interested who wants to learn more about them! I may do a separate one for the villains if enough people are interested. Anyway, enjoy!
Also, don’t mind sending in a ask or two about them if you’re curious, I’m more than happy to answer! <3
Mind that this does contain spoilers for the campaign as a whole!
(TW: Abuse, Death, Abandonment, murder, homophobia, amnesia. Let me know if I should tag anything else!)
Scepter (Wizard/Monk, Aasimar, PC):
Family/Allies: Dawn, Goddess of the Light (Birth Mother), Abaddon (Birth Father, Assigned Guardian), Alan (Half-Brother, Guardian), Penelope (Step-Mother), Butler (Close friend), Del (Monk Teacher)
Backstory: Scepter was born the child of the Light Goddess, Dawn, and Abaddon, her mortal lover in an attempt to create a heir to take Dawn’s place as the poison Goddess Talona gave her slowly kills her. After his birth, they quickly realize he’s not immortal, and therefore not a suitable heir to replace Dawn. Despite Dawn’s protests, they send him to the Mortal Plane to live with his father, Abaddon. While Scepter grows up in a very fortunate and wealthy lifestyle due to his father’s black-market jobs, he slowly begins to find out that he’s the son of a god when he finds a gift from Dawn given for him - a magic broom. Abaddon tells Scepter his Mother, Dawn, didn’t want him because he was powerless and that he always will be. After Abaddon remarries to Penelope, Scepter begins to actively rebel against his parents and biding his time until he could leave, learning magic along the way, proving to himself that his father is wrong. After leaving, he goes to a monastery to be trained in the ways of the monks, which is where he meets one of his lifetime mentors - Del. Del taught him to fight as well as the ways of balance and how to control his power with his mind and not his emotions.
Personality: Calm, Wise, Smart. A clear leader of the group who always comes up with plans to outsmart the enemy. Values the pursuit of knowledge and will stop at nothing to get it, which is one of his only weaknesses. He’s very driven and will stop at nothing to complete his goal. Charismatic, Scepter almost always knows just what to say, and often uses words more than violence. Level-headed, he often has to keep the others in the party in check.
Alignment: Lawful Good
Relationship(s): Dawn, Goddess of Light (Familial, Bad) Abaddon / Penelope (Familial, Bad) Del (Familial, Good) Princess Lathia of Osishri (Romantic, Warm)
Gem (as of now): Scepter is the holder of the Water Gem, found in the Kingdom of Osishri. The Gem Spirit inside is Dewdrop.
Other special items: Magic Broom, Campaign Magic Map (Greg)
--------------------------------------------
Prince Drive of Keri (Paladin, Human, PC):
Family/Allies: King Aster (Adopted Father), Queen Lianna (Adopted Mother, deceased?), Princess Naris (Adopted sister), Captain Elrik (Mentor), Noid/Evelyn Dior (Mentor/Birth Mother), Kane Estin (Birth Father, deceased), King Ayren (Adopted Uncle)
Backstory: After being found on the side of the road - soaked, cold, and alone, a nearby King and Queen take pity on the child and raise as their own, having not been able to have a child by blood. From the note, the only words that could be made out of the note was the word ‘Drive’, so they named their new son Drive. Drive grew up with happy days filled with fun and surrounded by love as he grew to want to become a knight and be as powerful as his father, even owning a wooden play sword he used to practice dueling with before he was ready to train. When he was nine, he traveled with his parents as a tragedy struck the kingdom - the two King’s younger sister, a duchess and her family were rumored to have been charred to ash by a dragon. As they searched for any hope of survivors, they found a small baby, the Duchess’s daughter, Naris in a trunk someone had stashed her in for safekeeping. Thus, Drive had a new adopted sister, and the two grew to become very close as the years ticked by. One evening, while going on a trip to their uncle, King Ayren’s Kingdom of Westria, the royal family was attacked by a group of horned creatures. The creatures nearly killed Drive but Lianna sacrificed herself so that he and Naris could get away to safety. King Aster was driven to a deep, depressive, grief - he blamed himself so much that he was determined to fix it and bring her back from the dead, pushing his duties and family aside and throwing himself into his work. One night he spoke of a gem foretold by legend to grant a wish, and he set out into the great unknown to retrieve it and fix his mistake. Upon his return with the gem, he demeanor completely changed into one of rage, cruelty, and manipulation. Drive was constantly fighting his own mind and his own ideas for his father’s expectations, making him feel like he was never good enough for his own father. When his father finally decided to set him on training to become the next Guard Captain in Elrik’s place, he was so excited that over the years he became numb and oblivious to how his father and more importantly, his sister changed.
Personality: Determined, extremely protective, compassionate, and caring. Drive feels like the protector of the party, always wanting to help everyone - his kingdom, his home, his friends, and his sister. Perhaps too Charismatic, he’s too attractive and forced to wear a helmet to somewhat stunt his looks enough he won’t be bothered by random people. He can be a bit awkward sometimes and not really know what to say, but whenever he does say something meaningful, you know it’s from the heart. He’s also somewhat the combat trainer in the group in teaching both Naris and Lathia combat moves to help them. If anyone tries to mess with or hurt his sister, he will do everything in his power to take them down and make sure they can never hurt Naris again. His protective anger over his sister is his greatest weakness.
Alignment: Lawful Good
Relationship(s): King Aster (Familial, Tense), Princess Naris (Familial, Protective), Captain Elrik (Mentor, Respected), King Ayren (Familial, Tense)
Gem (as of now): Drive is the holder of the Earth Gem, found in an ancient forest women tribe founded under a God’s worship and word. Gem Spirit inside is Fern.
Other special items: Signature Helmet
---------------------------------------------------
Jango (Barbarian, Dwarf, PC):
Family/Allies: Sarnora (Mother), Grimdrak (Father)
Backstory: Jango grew up as the son of Sarnora and Grimdrak up in the dwarf mountain village. His family had a business of brewing ale, they often traded with merchants or other suppliers, since many of the towns and cities did not have the room or the money to distill ale. Jango grew up with the nickname ‘Little lion’, being one of the smallest dwarves in the entire village, yet with the heart of a mountain lion. He pushed himself day in and day out to do his part to help, and eventually over time he got strong enough to help handle the mill by himself. Overtime, his father became a massive drunk and would often end up drinking half their supply - his parents would often argue and fight late into the night. Finally, his mother had enough and kicked him out permanently - Jango has not seen him since. One day, a giant beast, one of the pack leaders of the mountain lions the village had been fighting, killed a large portion of the village overnight. Saddened, Jango set out on his own to kill the beast and save his village once and for all. After coming home with one of the beast’s teeth, he was crowned hero of the village. Now, he still works for the family business and helps his Mom run it when he isn’t out making deliveries.
Personality: Chaotic, Unpredictable, quick to anger. When he’s not drunk out of his mind, Jango usually is quick to solve problems by fighting and violence, especially if said person does anything to set him off. He’s used to being powerful and isn’t used to being the one getting beaten down. Often the others work to reign him in, mainly Scepter. Though his ways are a bit unconventional, his intentions are mainly pure and his loyalty is true.
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Relationship(s): Sarnora (Familial, Good), Grimdrak (Familial, Bad)
Gem (as of now): Jango is the holder of the Fire Gem, found in the kingdom of Keri in King Aster’s possession, then with Naris’s dragon form, leading to Drive joining the party. The Gem Spirit inside is Ember.
Other special items: Bucket O’Ale
----------------------------------------------
Peanut AKA Galleria (Assassin, Dragonborn, PC):
Family/Allies: General Holly (Lover, deceased), Sasha (Friend), Undertaker (Mentor), Boss (Mentor), One (Mentor)
Backstory: Galleria began and grew up within the walls of the Cloaked castle and under the care of many of the others captured, and one of the few Dragonborns amongst the recruits. She was taken when she was barely a year old, and her village was raided, burned, and attacked. Her caretaker and mother, Connie Wilde, protected her with her life, but was too weak for the army and they were sadly separated. Connie was taken into slavery, and Galleria was taken into their army for her breath attack and poison immunities. She got the nickname Peanut from the other kids, since she was the youngest recruit taken. When she was about 6, she was put to training within her group under many of the Generals, where she met her friends Sarah and Holly. They were strong each within their own right, but together they were unstoppable. They advanced through the ranks, eventually coming under the command of the right hand herself, the ruthless Undertaker - known for sniffing out all and any traitorous behavior, being ruthless with her punishments and training and pushing all her recruits to their absolute limits just to see them waver and suffer. Though the training is rigorous, Peanut and Holly do well and support each other throughout it all. Sarah crumbled and was sent to become one of the guards of the castle, and deemed too weak to become one of the Cloaked. Holly and Peanut grew closer and bonded over watches and scouting missions. They were the perfect team to get rid of targets, and were barely ever apart. They both truly cared and loved each other, they acted as if they were dating, but they never really got super intimate or ever really made it official. They were back from a mission one day, and were hanging out in the dorm alone chatting about the mission and where they could pass by next when Peanut hugged Holly and then gave her a quick kiss. They kissed each other before, but this was the first time they risked it inside the castle - they stilled when they heard a gasp and saw Naris enter the room with their dinner, and she dropped it to the floor in shock. It didn’t take long for her to spill what she saw and when she did it was all over. Holly was tortured and eventually beheaded for her ‘traitorous’ actions, and Peanut was stuck in the dungeon on the list for her own public execution. The Undertaker, angry and embarrassed that she let a traitor slip by her grasp, she threw Holly’s beheaded head inside with Peanut to shut up her resistance and complaints, and to make sure she was hurt. This broke down her spirit and nearly broke her mind. Then, just when things seemed hopeless, the party passed by her cell and the rest is history.
Personality: Skilled, Sly, and Smart. She can easily make her way out of almost any situation, and is highly skilled in murder and taking out targets, getting information, and leaving paractically no trail behind. Though she wears a calm and content look on the outside, her heart is badly broken and her sadness and anger over Holly still stew beneath the surface - Cloaked are taught to hide and dispose of all emotions, since they are an ‘inconvience’ and get in the way of getting targets taken care of and cloud the judgement of Loyalty. Many of the others are getting used to her casual murder talk as a solution to almost anything, and are kind of intimidated by her skill. Her tough personality hides a gentle and kind center.
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Relationship(s): Sarah (Friend, Tense) One (Familal, Warm), Boss (Mentor, Cold), Undertaker (Mentor, Cold)
Gem (as of now): Peanut is the holder of the Wind Gem, found in the infected village of Sewinda, that was deep in the clutches of Corruption’s control. With teh Mayor’s help, they restored and saved the village in return for the Gem.
Other special items: None of note.
----------------------------------------------
Princess Lathia of Osishri (Fighter, Osishirian, NPC):
Family/Allies: Prince Kyro (Brother), Queen Navine (Mother), King Garris (Father)
Backstory: Youngest in the royal family, Lathia has known nothing but the small bubble under the ocean for her whole life. Due to a curse placed in the royal family by the Sorceress Vivica, all women of the royal family must become model wives and all men trained to fight and protect - if they do not embrace these rules, on their 20th birthday they will die. This would be fine if it weren’t for the extra abilities the Sorceress gave them in return for being stuck under the ocean - elemental bending, represented by certain dyed colors in the hair of those with the talent. Thus, Navine had always been hard on Lathia and often pushes and forces her to practice and become the wife the curse expects her to be for her own survival. When her brother, Kyro, brings home Outsiders from above, she sees her slim chance of figuring out what life is really like up above, and what she’s dreamed it would be like. She sneaks around her family to the PCs for answers, and even begins to fall for a few of them. Drive, at her request, begins to teach her to fight, which after that night she practices frequently. When Kyro gets attacked by the Sorceress Vivica on his Coming of Age day, Lathia doesn’t hesitate to save him, even when her impulsiveness almost gets her killed. The PCs save her and her brother, and help her while she’s recovering and dealing with Kyro, who’s now in a coma. Lathia finally realizes her feelings for Scepter after their night in the library, where they read until Lathia falls asleep in Scepter’s shoulder, in which case Scepter slowly brings her to bed and leaves her with a forehead kiss - Lathia was not completely asleep at the time. Upon waking up and realizing that the PCs went after the Sorceress, she packs a bag and sneaks out to save them on her own. Luckily, with her knowledge, she saves Scepter and Drive from Vivica’s spells, and Drive frees Jango from the cage Vivica threw him in. Once finally cornered, Lathia makes the ultimate sacrifice and reveals herself to fight and have them escape, not realizing her birthday was drawing near, turning her whole body to stone under the light of the moon. Her spirit quickly became trapped in the spirit waters that ran through Vivica’s lair. Once she was defeated into a pile of ash, the PCs finally met the reinforcements headed by Fernando - Lathia’s betrothed. Fernando and Kyro, now awake from his coma, go with the PCs to find the gem, and end up having to face Vivica’s Spirit Form. When they are in deep trouble, this is enough to trigger her Coming of Age and earn her own two bending abilities - water and shadow. While Scepter retrieves the Water Gem, Lathia confronts Fernando and tells him off, saying that she will never marry him. Once everyone is free and safe and the water gem is retrieved, Lathia makes a speech to her people and says that they will rebuild and make a new and better kingdom, putting her brother Kyro in charge as both the King and Queen step down. Kyro asks her why she couldn’t take it, and she tells him that she’s leaving, that she wants to explore this world, find new discoveries for her people, and help make sure that the PCs don’t get into too much trouble. He lets her go, telling her to keep her necklace their mother had given all of the royals in case they were ever kidnapped or lost, as a memento of them, and to lead her home.
Once joining the party, she helps take down some of the Cloaked by charming and pretending to love them, a skill she’s sadly learned well with her years being in a forced relationship with Fernando. With a little encouragement from Drive, Lathia confesses to Scepter that same night, and they share their first kiss. When Scepter’s Dad makes a deal for a date with Lathia in return to give them the means of finding Naris, Lathia quickly agrees and Scepter saves her from being trapped and mind controlled by his own father. That night, they promise each other to not be reckless, to be safe and to always be there for each other. Once retrieving Naris, she begins to look after the girl a lot when the others are out, and gets to know her and care for her like one of her own. She almost loses Scepter, Drive, and Peanut when Corruption nearly kills them while inside their gems, leaving Scepter hardened, traumatized, and nearly emotionless. She tries her best to be there for him and comfort him, giving him space and time to heal. Even though she doesn’t completely understand what he went through, that doesn’t change the way she feels and her love for him.
Personality: Strong-willed, Optimistic, Loving. She’s almost like the embodiment of the ‘He’s a little confused, but he’s got the spirit’ meme. She’s learning how to use a sword and get a grip on her new powers, still, she’s a very strong fighter. She can be a bit awkward at times, especially with her first real relationship with Scepter, or when she panics in stressful situations. She’s thoughtful and rarely ever jumps in headfirst - only if others are in serious danger. Despite her rocky relationship with her family, she still loves them and her Kingdom with all her heart.
Alignment: Lawful Good
Relationship(s): Prince Kyro (Familial, Good) Queen Navine (Familial, Neutral) King Garris (Familial, Neutral) Scepter (Romantic, Warm)
Other special items: Explorer’s Journal, Golden Jewel Necklace
----------------------------------------------
Princess Naris of Keri (Fighter, Human, NPC):
Family/Allies: Prince Drive of Keri (Older Adopted Brother/Mentor), King Aster (Adopted Father), Queen Lianna (Adopted Mother, deceased?), King Ayren (Adopted Uncle), Duchess Diana of Saxon (Birth Mother), Duke Bryce of Saxon (Birth Father), Captain Elrik (Family Friend)
Backstory: Naris was born the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Saxon, one of the few shared branches between Keri and Westra, and a peaceful region near the mountains. Sadly, tragedy struck all too quickly during a dragon attack, leaving the Duke and Duchess’s year old daughter as the sole survivor, locked in a chest and saved from the burning flames. Around a few months later King Aster and his adopted son Drive are sent to look for survivors once they hear the news of the attack, and find the child, taking her under their care and adopting her as their own. Sadly, tragedy struck only two years later with the death of Queen Lianna. The Queen’s death threw King Aster into a deep depression from grief and self-blame for her death, making the two sibilings closer and closer over the years as they help to support each other, especially after their father left to find one of the fated magical gems of legend and bring their Mom back to life. Upon his return, it didn’t take long for him to change into something more darker, putting pressure on, manipulating, and abusing his seven year old daughter. He swore her to secrecy and made her so scared of saying a word by promising if she did, Drive would be next. While Drive grew older, trained with Elrik and got better at fighting and becoming a better leader for his people, Naris’s spirit broke day by day as she tried her best to squeeze into her father’s mold for her, getting punished for even the smallest mistakes. Eventually, she fought back and grabbed her father’s sacred treasure - the glowing gem he’d returned with so long ago - and tried to break it and have it release its hold on her father somehow. Her father, angry, stabbed her on the side as she leaped through the window and made it into the woods. There, the gem began to speak with her, asking her what she wanted and promising her every wish and desire. Determined to finish the fight against her father and end his torture and hold on her once and for all, she wished to strike fear into her father’s heart, and turned into a fire-breathing dragon. She stormed the palace and tore it to bits, searching for her father to teach him a lesson, but eventually was stopped when the party pulled the gem away from her with the help of her brother, Drive. After some celebration, she convinces Drive to join the party.
She gets in over her head when she tries to prove she can make it on her own after some of the party call her ‘useless’, which ends up getting her into trouble with the forest tribe. After primsing she’d be more safe, the party gets kidnapped by the Undertaker that night and the truth of their father’s abuse is finally out in the air thanks to her. When the Undertaker realizes they’re kinda strong, she takes Naris and runs off, kidnapping her. She takes her to the Cloaked Castle to become her obedient servant, slave, and pet - torture increases for every act of rebellion, every mistake. Eventually they wear down her spirit and mind enough to somewhat brainwash her into forgetting Drive and her family entirely, believing that she’s the Undertaker’s daughter and calling her ‘Mother’. Once saved, things between her and Drive are tense to say the least, but slowly are making their way to somewhat normal and are trying their best to openly talk about what happened with their father instead of just trying to forget it.
Personality: Strong-willed, confident, pure of heart, but sometimes a bit reckless. Still learning to fight from her brother and now Peanut, she’s determined to succeed and set things right for herself and make sure she’s never as weak or vulnerable as she was with her father, she promised herself that she won’t stop fighting, that she’d never give up fighting against people like her father. She has doubts about herself and her abilities due to her abusive past, and she struggles talking about it with her brother, who blames himself often for the abuse. Though she’s grown up very fast mentally, there’s still a bit of childlike curiosity and wonder to her about the world around her, and just topics she never got around to learning about on her own. She gets nightmares a lot and can be a bit averse to any physical contact at times due to her trauma. All in all, she still tries to see the best in people, and uses her adapted survival skills and tactics built up from her past to help get out of jams.
Like her brother, she’s also very protective of those she loves and would do anything for them, and she cares about them deeply, often being the ones to heal them with her own healer’s kit after taught fights or battles.
Alignment: Neutral Good
Relationship(s): Prince Drive of Keri (Familial, Close), King Aster (Familial, Cold), Peanut (Mentor, Respected), King Ayren (Familial, Tense)
Other special items: Pink Ribbon, Old Photo, Wooden Play Sword, Healer’s Kit
-----------------------------------------
Noid AKA Evelyn Dior (No Determined Class, Human, NPC)
Family/Allies: Kane Estin (Husband, Deceased), Jane Dior (Mother), George Dior (Father), Rose (Close Friend), Ketin Estin (Son, Deceased?)
Backstory: Evelyn Dior was born into the rich family of the Diors, famous jewelry makers. Her home life was extremely strict as she was taught what to do or say, and was quickly groomed into a ‘well-mannered’ lady in rich society. Though, she was not happy with the lessons or the awkward dinners between her and her betrothed, who was nine years older than her. One day, when learning about the business from her father, she met Kane - one of the miners who worked in getting the metal they needed to craft with - and they became good friends, then best friends, then romantic feelings began to bloom on her 18th birthday. When she finally confessed her feelings and was about to kiss him, her father broke it up and fired Kane, saying that he’ll make sure that he would never see his ‘little angel’ ever again, not if he could help it. He beat up Kane and quickly left. That argument sparked the final match to get Evelyn to leave her family for good and start a new life with Kane. With the help of her servant as well as best friend Rose, they snuck out before sunrise, leaving practically nothing behind.
The two quickly got married and Evelyn changed her last name from Dior to Estin, to officially leav her old life behind. Life was good and eventually they started a family together, Evie pregnant with their first child. Unfortunately, the child was not strong enough to make it and began to slowly die as Evie just lies in bed, writhing in agony as the couple just cries and mourns their dying baby. Desprate, Evie summons a demon named Hragroth and they make a deal - the demon gives her a black stone to help save her child in exchange for the sacrifce of her eye. She agrees, and her child is saved. Kane finds out she did something and confronts her, leading to a bit of an argument between the two, and eventually Kane says that if she really had no other choice, he’ll stand by her. Their son is eventually born a few months later and is named Ketin, after his father.
While Kane is at work, Evelyn begins to have odd moments with the baby in her arms or playing in his crib - she’ll just try to grab him or snatch something off him, something she couldn’t quite describe, or sometimes even hiss and growl at him, making him cry and snapping her out of it. Other times, she’ll act a bit off around Kane, and once he caught her sleepwalking and trying to throw their child into the burning coals of the fire. She goes to get rid of the stone but when her child is snatched from her arms and taken, she uses it without hesitation and straight up murders the baby-snatcher in cold blood with these dark tenticles coming up from the ground. She saves Ketin, but the townspeople see the whole thing. They accuse her of witchcraft and conspiring against the town, and despite Kane’s protests that it isn’t true, even he’ll admit he’s starting to become scared of his wife.
One night, the town organizes a riot and begins to burn down Evelyn and Kane’s house, both still inside. Luckily Kane smells the smoke and gets them to safety, not before proclaiming that she needs to let them burn her at the stake and get rid of the demon inside of her, saying that it will be better for Ketin’s safety and the safety of the town, and he even calls out to them as they begin to march toward the two with torches and pitchforks. Evelyn finally goes completely berserk and murders nearly the entire town trying to escape with Ketin, a letter attached that she scribbled ‘Drive and take to the Diors’. She rushed through the rain and lightning as they chased her up a cliff, clutching her child close. She falls off the cliff, the black stone shattering into four pieces to become a part of the four phrophecy stones. The basket holding Ketin flies through the air and eventually lands toward the road, to be picked up by King Aster and Queen Lianna who couldn’t have a child of their own - calling the child ‘Drive’ since that was the only part of the note they could make out in the smeared and wet ink stained paper.
As for Evelyn, she hears her husband cry out “NOOOO” as she falls, hitting her forehead against a rock and leaving her memories fuzzy. The ‘no’ turns into Noid, which she assumes her name is when she wakes up in a ravine, hurt and bleeding.
Found by Scepter, who became her first friend and confidant, who asks about her past and makes her get kind of really upset, though he eventually forgives him. Recently, she’s realized she lost her baby and wants to find it because she misses it and doesn’t know what happened to her baby.
Personality: Defensive, erratic, has good inetions and a good heart. Speaks in third person. Craves friendship and companionship. Hates talking about the past because ‘the bad memories hurt’. Hates all the Cloaked, thinks their parctices are wrong and wants to get rid of them all and stop their reign of terror. Is not much of a fighter, but will fight if she needs to, is more on the fighting tactic side of fighting. Being sheltered in a cave for years, she loves to learn what’s changed in the time she’s been gone. Always a bit of a wild card, Noid just wants to make friends and kick butt. Fun fact - she’s eaten a mostly vegetarian diet while living in the cave, but just discovered meat and loves it.
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Relationship(s): Kane Estin (Romantic, Close), Jane Dior (Familial, Cold), George Dior (Familial, Cold), Ketin Estin (Familial, Loving Protector)
