#dice pouch project

Today’s project: trying to make a faux fur-lined small pouch for knucklebone dice. I am waiting on silk cord and will stitch the channels when I have those on hand.

I’m not sure how many of these I’ll end up making; the faux fur is a pain in the rear. It’s super stretchy and slippery so I basically have to pad-stitch it temporarily to get it to behave.

I’ve decided that for this top-stitching, I’m not going to go back-and-forth to secure the stitching; I’ll sew just short and secure the thread ends by hand.

Ramuda: Okay! ☆ It’s great to see everyone has been serious in making some curry!

Gentaro: Well, though this event feels capricious by nature, it’s still a battle I do not wish to lose.

Dice: Can we hurry up and eat already? I’m so hungry I could pass out!

*beeping noise*

Ramuda: Ah, rice is done! Plating time~!

Gentaro: Oh, and you’ve prepared our curry to go with it. Then shall we try Ramuda’s curry first?

Ramuda: Okaaaay! Eat up everyone! ☆

Gentaro: Let’s see. *throws it up*

Dice: *loud eating noises but also spits it back up*

Gentaro: What in the world…??

Ramuda: I call it, “Sweet Like Honey Curry!!!!!!☆”

Gentaro: Y-You say sweet like honey, but I think I’ve been assaulted by the amount of sugar…

Ramuda: That’s because I used honey instead of water!

Dice: M-My throat is on fire…W-Water… I need water…!!

Ramuda: So I was thinking of how to stand out from the other divisions and decided to try something completely original! What do you think??

Dice: What do I think?? Is food just a game to you??

Ramuda: That’s so mean!! I thought long and hard about this!

Gentaro: There are still other curries to get through. So, let’s eat mine next.

Ramuda: Uh, it looks like yellow soup… Is this really okay to eat?

Gentaro: Since we, as a team, have a pop image, I thought it would be remiss to not incorporate that in the curry.

Dice: …But I don’t see any actual food in it.

Gentaro: Because of anticipated mass reproduction in the pursuit of commercialization, I have decided a liquid only curry would be most suitable. And to compensate for the lack of ingredients, I used butter for richness in taste.

Ramuda: That’s such a lonely sounding curry…

Gentaro: What ever is the matter? Please, eat up.

Dice: *loud eating noises* …??

Ramuda: …Mmm, it’s gross… I really don’t wanna say it, but I don’t like this…

Gentaro: Is that so? Do tell me why; however, if I find your reasoning lacking, I simply will continue to serve you this roux.

Ramuda: Nooooo!! I don’t want anymore of the yellow stuff!!!

Dice: How dare you treat food like it’s a joke!! …Geez, obviously neither of y’all know what you’re doing. Curry is meant to be paired with rice!! None of your flavours helps elevate the taste of white rice!! Now this is real curry! Eat your heart out and understand that this is what it means to be one with the flavour of rice!!

Ramuda: *eats*

Gentaro: *eats* …Hm.

Dice: How is it?? Doesn’t it make you want to eat more??

Ramuda: I mean I could but… it’s just a normal curry? Like how is this any different from a regular chicken curry?

Dice: Are you blind?? If you looked in the pot right now, you could clearly see a huge amount of locally raised chicken went into this!!

 Gentaro: Well, I can certainly see how many chicken bones are in the curry.

Dice: Hahaha! haaa… Weeeell, I guess I did get hungry and ate some while making it!

Ramuda: *eats* …hm?? Wait, you gotta try this!!

Gentaro: ? You mixed mine and Dice’s curries together…? *eats* …Oh my!

Dice: It’s so good!! Who would have thought my curry and that yellow junk actually combined really well??

 Gentaro: Then perhaps… Let’s try adding some of that absurdly sugary curry to this!

Ramuda: Sweet Like Honey Curry coming right up~!

Dice: Hey, this actually looks really good!

Posse: *eats* !!

Ramuda: Woooooow!! I’ve never had curry like this before!!

Gentaro: I can’t believe we’ve stumbled upon creating such a masterpiece…!

Dice: *excessively loud eating noises* This spoon’s not stoppin’!!

Ramuda: Aaalright, then that settles it! ☆ Let’s combine all of our curries!!

Dice: Looks great!! There’s no way we’re losing with this curry!

Gentaro: Precisely! On that note, what shall we name it? “Posse Curry” possesses little impact…

Ramuda: Hmmmm… How about, “The Sweet Yellow Liquid You Can’t Stop Eating!”

Dice: Sounds good to me!

Gentaro: However, I made a curry, not a mere liquid.

Ramuda: Oh yeah? Sowwies☆ Then we’ll call it, “The Sweet Yellow Curry You Can’t Stop Eating!”

Gentaro: It certainly has a nice ring to it.

Dice: Heh heh, it sure does!

Ramuda: And with this curry, our victory is guaranteed!! ☆

An asymmetrical, unlined little dice pouch for a friend of mine!

It’s kind of an experiment and I think the conclusion I’m coming to is that I will continue to line pouches I make. Leaving exposed seams on fabric than can fray itches my brain in a way I can’t quite describe, but I don’t like it lol

i wanted to experiment with dave and buck fits and how they might dress if they didn’t have a dress code. some thoughts on the design process below :’D

i want to keep dave’s rose motif going strong in my art bc i feel like the rose at the end of his cutscene is really important to his character. the music note pin on his lapel is based off my chum @megalophobic-astronomer’s headcanons :]

he also has a big, bold zoot suit because i feel like it represents him very well. the butterfly collar is always a must and a staple of my design for him lol. golden box chains around his neck and hanging from his waist are mostly me projecting my taste upon him but i think he would wear chains and jewelry pretty regularly!

buck is all over the place bc i wanted to incorporate a bunch of different styles into one mess of a fit. my main inspirations boil down to Punk Butch at Poker Night lol. i think buck’s taste extends far past this look, and we know he wears a suit well, but i think he would be very adventuresome in his style. at the end of the day, i want him to look rambunctious, jagged and fun.

along with the built in chip dispensers in his arms, he also wears a vintage coin dispenser on his belt, card pouches organized by suit on his thigh, and fuzzy dice for luck on his key ring. this guy jangles! oh, and i’ve had lots of hcs about buck’s body for a while but haven’t drawn them too much yet. here’s a kind of outdated ref that still stands

he has a [convoluted and under-referenced] card shuffler in his chest and a roulette wheel in his belly because i said so <3 the gold trim and detailing is inspired by vintage slot machines and i wanted to give him a kind of cheap tin look.

i don’t have all my hcs for dave’s body drawn out yet, but i’m thinking of giving him accordion bellows in his lower torso and i know for sure he has radio dials on his forearms along with more speakers on the top side. i want to cram as many musical motifs as possible into his design and hopefully i will come up with more ideas for buck too!

I crocheted a froggy forest ranger dice pouch! ⍋࿐༄⍋࿐༄⍋࿐༄

I decided on the name  𓍊𓋼𓍊⍋ Bryophyte ⍋𓍊𓋼𓍊  because of the beautiful earth-toned, multi-coloured yarn I was able to use. Bryophytes are non-vascular (vascular systems carry water and nutrients upward through the plant and downward to the roots) and seedless plants, like mosses, liverworts and hornworts. 

This is my first larger frog that I’ve fully crocheted, he’s also my first crocheted zipper pouch frog! I decided not to put lining on the inside though, so the pretty pattern and colours can be seen on the inside as well :)

The way the rows colours on the top have grouped together kinda remind me of the Strophalos, also called Hekate’s wheel, which is seen as a symbol of hers, especially because of the groups of three in its design.

I’m happy that I’ve been feeling a bit more productive and motivated again lately, and that I’ve been able to think of ideas and work on some projects I’ve been meaning to get to. It was nice making a couple of frogs again <|:^)

The Gambler

SOO...I had the feeling that I didn't posted this art before here on my Tumblr like I did on my Instagram and Facebook. Tbh I can't remember why I didn't posted it here at the same time tho. Well, there it is.

This was an art that I made for Setzer's birthday on 2022. It's a very detailed one and took from me so many hours of work. I wanted to added the most rich details as I can because I has the intention to do a redrawing of Yoshitaka Amano's official arts for FFVI. Is more like a homage-kind 'cuz I apprciate Amano's arts and his works inspires me to be patience with the minimun detail. So, why not?!

Just as I said before, this is a very late birthday artwork for him, and here some minor extras about the art:

- Mysidian Rabbit (Lagomorph) as seen eating carrots surrounded by some casino chips and...the Fixed Dices!

- The cards being thrown form a 7-7-7

- Setzer is carrying Viper Darts on his waist.

- A gil pouch can be seen with the Heiji's Jutte, a reference for his second ability Gil Toss (Zeninage).

- His surname Gabbiani is an Italian plural for the word gabbiano and means seagull. Besides the plural, he's accompanied by only one here.

- The hexagonal pattern is adorning by all the card suit.

- This is a redraw of one of Yoshitaka Amano's artworks for FFVI as I said.

I didn't work on a special art for him at this year in 2023 for some personal reasons. Not in the mood. But I'm currently working on this with a future project with a friend of mine and I'll bring it here soon in september. I think it was better by this way. Above the art of Yoshitaka Amano vs my art.

PERSPECTIVE: Mat. Tallanvor leads Mat out, away from the grounds, and Mat hopes that Gaebril didn't have any reason to think that Mat knows what he knows. Tal asks Mat if he knows anything else of the White Tower, who is Sheriam, why does her study mean anything? Mat can honestly say he doesn't know. Sometimes Tal thinks she's trying to say something… 1) he asks Mat if he's a loyal Andorman, and Mat says absolutely, but does Tal serve Morgase and Gaebril faithfully? Tal sneers that he serves Morgase, to the death, and storms back to the palace. Mat thinks Gaebril probably says the same words…

Mat gets back to the Queen's Blessing and tells Master Gill he's leaving, but keep the coin, he'll stay long enough to eat. Thom says they've only just arrived. Mat asks if Gill can say anything else about Gaebril, he doesn't like Aes Sedai and he hasn't been there long, but anything else?

Gaebril appeared over the winter, put down some riots hard, and Morgase was so pleased with him that she named him as advisor. Mat asks, if he married Morgase, would he be king? No, Andor has always had a queen, just a queen. If Morgase and Elayne both died, Light forbid, then their cousin Dyelin would be next in succession. At least that's clear, not like when Tigraine disappeared.

Mat asks if there's any other reason he doesn't like Gaebril, and he says, well, there's been a lot of unrest but it can't all be his fault, and people have been having bad dreams since he arrived.(2) But why all this fuss and questioning? Mat says he overheard Gaebril telling Comar to kill Elayne and the other wondergirls, and Thom and Basel almost believe him.

Thom suggests that they spread rumour and use the Game of Houses, if Morgase thinks Elayne's in danger, Gaebril will have a mighty fine funeral. Basel even thinks they can use the dreams to do it, all he has to do is say he dreamed the plot to one of the serving women, and she'll have it through half the city in a day.(3)

Mat says he needs to get on the road to Tear, and Thom asks if there's any chance of Mat waiting until tomorrow morning to leave, he could use a night's sleep. Mat is surprised Thom wants to come with, even further, but Thom seems to have stopped seeking to punish himself. Besides, he likes those girls, wouldn't want anything to happen to them. They'll have to go back to Aringill and catch a boat, it's days faster even than riding horses to death.

Mat asks Basel to hold on to Gaebril's pouch of ten gold, and when he asks what it is, Mat says it's stakes. Gaebril doesn't know it yet, but they have a wager, and Mat always wins, as he throws the dice and turns up all sixes.

(1) So, any better guesses yet? (2) We've seen Sammael in Illian, and Rand, giving people nearby their dreams. It seems likely (and safe enough to suggest) that Gaebril is a Forsaken. They're just coming out of the woodwork, now, huh? (3) Do you think it will be that successful? Can Morgase fend off one of the Forsaken?

2023 crochet round up!

i mentioned making a post like this a few days ago, and true to my nature, i waited until the last minute to get pictures

so here we are, in no particular order, various projects i finished in 2023

1.) this was technically crocheted last year (i think) but this year i finally assembled and lined it, making it finished! its not quite the size to be a purse, but its perfect for carrying my phone and keys while dog walking

i followed this pattern, and im really happy with the results!

2.) some little zipper bags. like the bag above, the purple one was crocheted last year, but i finally added the lining and zipper this year (i also used the same pattern as the above bag to make the purple one)

the grey one doesnt have a lining and zipper yet, but since the crochet is finished, it still makes the list

3.) little squares from this pattern, to have something to clip my stitch markers to, very helpful for travel

4.) a few of the chokers i made during the summer, there are a bunch more, but you get the idea, a couple were made based on this pattern

4.) this one was hard to get a good shot of, but it's a cat blanket i made for my sister's cats

the pattern was a free one i got from michael's in store, which doesnt seem to be on their site? however its a pretty simple pattern, im pretty sure you could find something nearly identical by searching "star baby blanket" or something like that

5.) for ages now i've been meaning to make something to keep my tablet pens in, because having them loose in my bag is begging for disaster

i actually had to make this little case twice, the first one was too long and the proportions looked weird, so it isnt pictured here

i hand finished all the seams for the lining, there was no practical need to do this

6.) pouch to carry headphones i got for my birthday

7.) pouch to carry Cool Rocks

the bottom of the bag comes from these doily patterns, and the ends of the ties are from this pattern

8.) a mini dice bag, made to hold a couple sets of mini dice my sister made for me!

9.) several cord ties made from this pattern, the flower was my own addition (only two ties are pictured because i didnt feel like tracking down the third)

10.) a flower vine to decorate my desk, no actually on my desk because i still need to sort out how i want to attach it

11.) speaking of flowers, ive probably made dozens of these little guys, they're very quick to make, and a good way to give my hands something to do while watching something

14.) while technically i still need to to line these bags, i still wanted to include them, i made them from this pattern, and im very excited for when theyre actually finished so i can use them

next we're getting into some shawls i made, and unfortunately i just dont have a good set up for getting pics of them

15.) this one was made by doing a little variation from this pattern

16.) this was made from the all shawl pattern by doris chan, its a really great pattern for beginner's, the first shawl i made was from that pattern!

17.) this was made from a variation on the same pattern i used for the cat blanket, i made a couple others from the same sort of pattern late last year, but i decided i needed one in black in october, because it looks just a bit like bat wings

18.) i made a cowl from this pattern, and i really love the texture of it! i also made one for my mom in a different color, which is not pictured here because i took these picture last minute

other things not pictured include: a dice bag for my sister, flowers for my mom, and a sack for the cats to curl up in (since they love making nests out of my projects)

Quick two evening project as a very small part of my brother’s birthday. A pouch that opens up into a tray. The pattern is originally meant for DnD dice but I made it for him to store his guitar accessories in, since he’s not happy with the tin he keeps his picks in rn. Not completely thrilled with how it turned out but it serves a purpose, he checked in a few times to see it and make sure it’s fit for purpose, so it’s all good.

Also not thrilled with the yarn. It looks way nicer IRL but it’s a bigger brand, so it wasn’t cheap, but it gave me insanely bad yarn burn, which isn’t a problem I’ve ever had before tonight. But 🤷🏻‍♀️ one thing to tick off of my ridiculously long project list for the next few months xoxo

okay i did something ridiculously cool today and i gotta talk about it somewhere!!!

so i love D&D that’s not news, i run multiple campaigns, and i also happen to have a ridiculous amount of dice. my dice addiction got out of hand a few years ago and just kind of exploded from there, i have no idea how many sets i have now, but i love them all equally (that’s a lie, but shh)

at first to store them i made myself a very simplistic dice pouch, but grew frustrated with having to search to find each kind of die amidst the bulk of them. then, i bought a dice box with multiple compartments and painted it with a unique design. i’ve been using the box to keep my dice stored for a long time, but the collection is fast outgrowing the box

now, thing is, i’ve been in love with Laura Bailey’s giant multi-pocket dice bags for literally years - ever since I saw her very first one that she had for Vex. i searched everywhere online for something similar after discovering those were by commission only and far outside my price range, and i found a few other sellers on Etsy with multi-pocket designs, but here’s the kicker: every single design was 4, or 6, or 8 pockets. every single one, even Critical Role’s dice bags of hoarding

and how many dice come in a polyhedral D&D dice set?

i was twitching violently that there wasn’t a single seller pitching a 7 pocket dice bag. 8 pockets is too many - one would perpetually be empty. i could split one of the sizes of dice up, but that would bother me, because i am weird. 6 pockets was too few, i’d have to combine the d10s and d100s and there’d be double the dice in that pocket and that would bother me (running theme here). i realized, having some very minor experience with sewing, the problem here was that an uneven amount of pockets complicates the design/pattern massively. even numbers of pockets makes the design simpler, straightforward, even easy once you know what you’re doing. seven pockets? there’s a reason it hasn’t been done before

so there was only one thing to do (or, well, five things to do)

1. i’d have to remember how to sew (having done all of maybe 3 minor sewing projects over the course of my lifetime, all within the last 6 years, lol)

5. and if that prototype worked, i’d then have to make a fabric prototype from scraps and keep making it over and over until i could actually complete a successful, functional, never done before seven pocket dice bag

I FUCKING DID IT

there were tears! there were furious sobs of hysterical frustration! there was enraged ripping of fabric and accidental bending of machine needles! there was a very melodramatic episode of running out of all the black thread in the house (fucking HOW) and racing out to the shops for more! but in the end, somehow, after 3 straight days of multiple scrap fabric prototypes and failure after failure, i made it and it worked

and now, i am fucking exhausted and i am going to BED but here’s some pictures of my baby!!

the first fabric prototype, a HUGE failure. the gap in the middle of the inner webbing was a problem to solve, and the outer case was way, way too big and had to be fully revised

and finally, prototype #3, my second fabric prototype and my first full success - and yes, she’s ugly and made of scraps, but she’s still my baby goddammit

and now you’ve seen the world’s first (probably not, but shh let me have this) seven pocket dice bag!!

crochet roundup post for may/june...!

I don't have a blog for crafts despite my chronic interest categorisation so I'll just post em here For Now. Apologies for anyone who follows me on twitter as I've been posting on there sporadically. I might make this a bi-monthly little roundup to help motivate me to keep pursuing projects 😊

1. Granny square blanket

First ever project! Learnt how to crochet using this pattern. I bought a "crochet beginner" kit from an Etsy shop which included four yarn colours, a hook, a darning needle and an information booklet. I was supposed to get access to a facebook group which had tutorial videos but they were slow in adding me to the group, so I ended up turning to video tutorials on YouTube, with the one I used in the final project being BellaCoco's basic granny square.

Once I'd started making squares (upon squares upon squares) I decided that I wanted to make a patchwork blanket from the completed squares, rather than making one large granny square until it was blanket sized.

To this end, I bought two skeins of brown dk yarn (alas, in ever so slightly different colours 🫣) from a local fabric shop and crocheted an extra row around every. Single. Square (This took fooooorever). Then proceeded to sew the individuals into long rows of squares, which I eventually sewed together into the full blanket. I used a whip stitch to connect my squares which left the front side with a really pleasing ridge between the individual squares!

2. Alyssia Creates sun/moon/star squares

High on my granny square success, I wanted to pick up the project that originally inspired me to pick up crochet (I reblogged the post in question earlier today) I decided to attempt a slightly more complicated square design. I had to learn how to make a magic circle for this design and I picked up a bunch more interesting stitches, like a treble and half double crochet. This was also really good in terms of learning how to effectively change colours in a more seamless manner. I've made these designs in a few different colour schemes now; I'm planning on using some of them as coasters and stitching a few of them together to make dice bags for DND!!

3. Mushroom lighter holder

Does what it says on the tin. This ended up super messy but it was a successful attempt at a 3d object! Made for my lovely pal Jess! This was fun as I got to do some creative sewing to make the little spots on the mushroom head and I had to sew the strap into the body of the mushroom. Would make again and attempt to tidy up the stitches. Would also try a different pattern to see if I could make one to better fit the lighter in question. I think the design I ended up using was for chapsticks originally, so though I did amend it and add a few more rounds to the body and cap, it could be better proportions-wise!

Upcoming projects include a runner for our living room coffee table based on this granny square pattern (how gorge is it... I've bought new yarn for this project and I'm really excited to try a different brand for the first time...! And to finish up the sun/moon bags and a more finished version of the lighter pouch. After that... Who knows! If anyone would like me to send them some little items PLEASE let me know! So I have been looking up how to do certain things for 3 big projects. I am someone who knows how to do a lot of things: textiles (everything from spinning yarn to weaving fabric to sewing clothes), ceramics, drawing, graphic design (literally my major), BUT I don’t know how to work with leather/ fake leather and idk how to book bind or how to make paper (for paper I have a general idea but I like to know the details).

My 3 big projects:

1. I want to hand make my ren fair costume (ik big task but my local faire isn’t until September/ October so I have time). Which includes sewing the clothes and any other fabric accessories. I’m also thinking of doing some embroidery for that. I plan on using air dry clay to make tiny mushroom pins to put in my hair.

2. What I have been calling my Dice Dragon bag of holding. I have the design for it in my head and I’m going to be putting it down on paper. I have a dice pouch idea and an outside pouch that has a removable flap. I also plan on being able to convert it from a back pack to a satchel. So I have my work cut out for me. This is where learning about leather working comes in.

3. I want to make hard back copies of the Andrew Lang color fairy books (the 12 books, I’ll go mad if I do the full 25). I plan on making sure his wife’s name is on those books as well cause she did a lot of work on those including translating them from a number of other languages and I want her on my covers. I’m also gonna be doing redraws of the original gilded illustrations so this project is gonna take me forever considering I’ve gotta first buy all 12 books (or maybe find pdf copies online and then I’ll get to have fun messing with the fonts on the inside pages), designing the covers, picking fonts, AND for the end pages I plan on making my own flower paper to match the colors of each book, so again alooooot of work.

I love to illustrate but I also love doing things with my hands so I’m excited to do all this. I am gonna need to clean out my big closet so I have a space to put all of the new tools and things that I’ll be getting. Man, I wish my job was just to craft things.
