Row 123 of 285 for panel 1 of 3. Because I love a challenge, apparently.

Now that I finally have enough of the same black yarn in the same dye lot, I'm whipping through the Feather Wings shawl pattern by Crafty Intentions. It's for my sibling, they have been feeling the loss of RavenMother (as have I).

Who else never really learned emotional regulation as a child and now has to learn it as an adult? 🐸 Even just naming the feeling out loud can help me to feel better.

If I don't track my progress, I don't feel like I have any achievements. Finished projects become items that the brain quickly absorbs as Part Of The Scenery and I stop seeing them as finished and accomplishments. So, in the spirit of cheering myself on, the next time I feel like I've accomplished nothing, I hope I can find a way to this space and see my hard work made clear. Our low-functioning days do not define us.
EDIT: Oh, and my gauge is way too tight and this is turning out roughly an inch and a half narrower than the pattern's stated measurements. So I think what I'll do is add rows, then block it with the widening focused parallel to the short sides.

A dear friend is holding their baby shower this weekend, and this pal for the baby needed a little sweater for the Little's November arrival. Doing what it takes to be finished by Sunday 💜🧶

Having a wild Friday night, right where I feel safe 💜 Bad chronic pain lately, and lows of deep despair in my helplessness. My nervous system is vibrating at a frequency that can boil water. But any degree of enjoyment I can eek out... I'll drag my deflated and trampled spirit towards it. I have reasons why I must carry on.

insane how many people just have these incredible artists in their families who get no recognition outside of crocheting circles because this art form is devalued for its association with women

This isn't what this was made for, but this *is* what this was made for, d'you know what I mean?
I made this crocheted drawstring pouch for some stationary, but pencils and pens and crochet hooks poke out. It's dimensions make it not ideal for dice.
Then one day, I knew I needed a means to carry something and this was a fit for the job. On a whim, I slipped it over my water bottle to take it with me.
And that's where it lives now. It impacts the rate of warming of the water a bit. It prevents condensation from leaving rings. It offers an alternative place to hold the bottle. And, most marvellously, I'll always have a quick means of carrying additional items.
I didn't make it for my water. But my intent wasn't the point. Clearly, it is meant exactly for this. If you've got finished projects sitting around and you're feeling like they're useless, don't let that bring you down. And if you have any feeling that your projects are unnecessary or that you shouldn't keep trying.
The worst thing a creative soul can do to themself and the world is believe the lies that whisper 'you should stop' in the shadows of your mind. Take up the implements of your creative expression and give it your best effort anyway.
Bonus Raven, extremely displeased that she isn't already getting her cream cheese tax:

hey so - we frogged your boyfriend. The pattern wasn't working out and we'd rather use the materials for something else. Yeah, we unraveled all of him, wound him into balls and put him back in the stash. Sorry. You can help us pick out a new pattern, if you want.
