these charas are kind of a love letter to the vpets, so their lines follow their rosters as closely as possible (with a few diversions and tweaks, esp on the megas)

Word Count: 496 Prompt: Villains Featured Characters: Fangmon A/N: I have no excuse for this one. Fangmon just has such a rad design, and I ended up recruiting one like. Right after fighting him in Part 2. And he's a POWERHOUSE (at least to me; I'm an RPG noob to be honest). So while I considered briefly something with Arukenimon or even Cyclonemon, I had to try my hand at this guy. It's the least I can do after he's saved my butt in so many battles. (Despite trying to hurt the main cast as;dlfjas;df) @surviveweek

Hmph, these humans were quite the nuisance. Fangmon had plenty of Gazimon and other lackeys under his command, and yet none of them had been able to so much as beat back those damn children. Never let others do what you could do yourself.

The old man was a problem, but not as much as those children. And they were split up, which made things a bit harder. Fangmon remained camouflaged as he watched the children fight his Gazimon subordinates. They weren't so tough, really, but Greymon and Diatrymon were a problem. They were the same level as he was, and that was unacceptable. Their increase in power seemed to have something to do with children, which was even more unacceptable. He had to take care of this problem and fast.

But this group of children was a low priority compared to the other two. They were more vulnerable, and their connections to their "partners" (how he loathed the concept) were tenuous at best. It was a delicious and somehow fitting end to a couple of children.

Fangmon's mouth stretched in a wolfish grin as he thought about how he was going to end their miserable lives. He'd have to corner them, of course, and then he'd let his subordinates weaken them. Naturally, the final strike was for him. Heh. No one was more fitting than himself.

Before him, the Gazimon were soundly defeated, and he shook his head. The children's Diatrymon reverted back to Falcomon, and as the defeated Gazimon fled, the blasted bird sensed his presence. Well, it was to be expected. He couldn't keep up his camouflage forever, he supposed. Ah, well.

Not that he stuck around long enough to leave much more than a threat. With his superior speed, he was able to leap far enough away that the children and their companions wouldn't be able to follow him. Unless the old geezer directed them to the dam, that is. Hm. But that was a problem for another time.

He had some children to take care of.

How unfortunate. Just when he'd thought he'd had them, they had bested him. Just when he'd mustered the strength to go after them, his limbs were failing. This had not been his day.

Fangmon swallowed as he eyed the fog crawling along his paws. He let out a howl, struggling in vain to pull himself away from it. He'd heard the stories, of course. This fog was no joke. It could take down even the strongest of monsters. But it would not take him.

"No, dammit, no! This can't be happening!" he shouted desperately, feeling the gazes of those insolent children on him. He let out another scream, though even Fangmon was aware that verbal protest was useless.

No longer was the fog only at his feet. It was an opaque cloud creeping up from behind him. His good eye widened, and he let out one last scream as the fog swallowed him whole.

Kiwimon Dossier

Entry One

The Wind Guardians are an odd bunch. This colloquial title for a particular data strain is a fusion of Bird and Plant type data centering around a few digimon. These digimon (including Floramon, Yokomon, and Delumon, among others) are perhaps best represented by the Ancient Bird digimon, Kiwimon. My hypothesis for this group's success is that because Bird Digimon excel at dispersal and Plant digimon excel in stable environments with lots of space, the group was able to colonize new territories very quickly whenever a niche opened.

Ancient Birds are part of a poorly understood part of the digimon Tree of Life- due to the nature of their data as, well, ancient, only a few surviving members of the group survive. Kiwimon are assumed to be more derived than Diatrymon or Ornismon, due to both of them having jagged beaks, suggesting the trait is more basal, since the species are not thought to be closely related.

Kiwimon was first described based on myths and only later discovered to actually exist. It is thought that this legend must have been of significant importance because of how enduring the myth was, and may have been tied to the member of the Olympus 12, Ceresmon.

Just realized that the end of this month marks the anniversary of Digimon Survive's release, so I wanna finish this playthrough just in time!

I find it interesting how Diatrymon is like, "What is this!?" when he first evolves.

For this battle, I decided to go Perfect level instead of straight to Mega, with the exception of MetalSeadramon. I just started feeling nostalgic for them.

In all seriousness, though, the Professor's "death" feels very tragic. WhiIe it's obvious from previous playthroughs that he's not really dead, the group's reaction to it, as well as the music playing in the background, really make it hit hard for me.

The same goes for Fangmon's death as well. While it's true that he was meant to be a bad guy who straight up tried to kill the Survive gang, the way his death played out just felt gruesome, even if no actual gore was shown.

Or maybe I'm just a big wuss.

This post took me hours to make. I wish I was joking. It's 11:59 PM as I'm typing this.

post-truthful (i care them) and it will also be obvious who my faves are. probably going to try alphabetical order. will make a sequel later with other characters

the kemonogami do have some influence over their forms while evolving, namely downsizing (ie, greymon is like 6ft rather than 15) and dulling claws/horns (also shellmon being light enough to not destroy any flooring) and all the partners are at adult stage pretty much constantly

aoi - has put those skills to use and has started a charity along with saki. it’s mostly centered on legislation and resources for helping people adapt to the whole monsters-are-normal-now thing - she mostly hangs back and focuses on the administration/organization part of the business - she still has issues with assertion but is way more confident, especially with dobremon at her side - social media is mostly sharing stuff from the official charity account and pictures of dobremon and her friends

kaito - he mostly just wants a quieter life with his boyfriend and sangloupmon - he doesn’t have like a job job. rather, he takes tips online and will intervene in any exploitative or just generally shady activity where kemonogami and their human partners are involved - he does indulge the aesthetic by tending to wear a trench coat. he claims it’s to help him hide his identity but it’s honestly bc takuma said it looked good on him and the deep pockets are nice - enough of the tips wind up just being kids wanting to show off and getting into fights. to try to fix the problem, he does start to organize more sports-adjacent, moderated fights between the kids’ partners so they can blow off steam without anybody getting hurt. (and beelzemon is a good partner in terms of ability to shoot down any projectiles that are close to coming astray) - pretty private. really only posts when bullied into it by somebody else up until the casual kids’ league starts and he posts a whole lot of pictures out of pride - a small scale tournament goes viral and the other (former) kids tease him over it - still not the best at communicating his feelings (still puts himself on the backburner generally) with pretty much everyone he’s close to but that’s what sangloupmon is for (as embarrassing as it may occasionally be)

minoru - runs a ranch for the adjusting kemonogami, both ones who want human partners but don’t know where to start and those who aren’t interested. he generally takes care of a lot of day to day functions, like feeding. diatrymon is the size of a large ostrich and a pretty practical partner as a way to get from one end of the ranch to another and to help out with transporting goods. also manages to command respect from most other kemonogami - ends up implementing kaito’s more structured fights, with the added security of varodurumon being able to heal as needed - a number of schools take field trips to the ranch for informational purposes and for kids to potentially find partners. kids love him since he’s still very high energy and keeps up with a lot of kids’ comics - yes he’s 24 and a public figure. no he won’t have a more professional social media presence. majority of his posts are shitpost blackout poetry of the others’ (ie, ryo’s “A lot of kemonogami tend to have behaviors like their plant/animal counterparts! My partner Flymon is a dedicated pollinator in the right seasons.” is turned into “  l  o                                     l          plan  anim         e     !           Fl     i   e                                s     s.”)

Imagine a Fillmore! Digimon AU

Like not one where they have Digimon partners, that’d be cool too, but one where they are Digimon themselves. Yeah, imagine Fillmore and Ingrid investigating some case and finally finding out who the perp is, only for the perp to digivolve straight to Champion and now the two patrollers are running from the perp and not the other way around. 

It’d be an interesting ‘monster of the week’ kind of scenario because now instead of having to chase the perp all over the school, they have to find a way to either subdue the raging Champion as Rookie-level digimon or digivolve themselves.

I did have some Digimon forms/lines in mind for them:

Ice Scream Digimon Partner Headcanons

remember my post about The Gray Garden Digimon headcanons?, well here's the Ice Scream edition!

Shirogane Wanyamon > Gabumon > Wolfmon (Lobomon) > Garummon (KendoGarurumon) > MetalGarurumon X

explanation: my motif for this line was wolves, weapons and armour, i chose Gabumon for his quiet and timid personality that matches Shirogane's, the line then goes to a more heroic, warrior route to compliment the rare times Shirogane acts bravely, when he wants to defend his friends (like in the deleted Ice Scream comic in which he saves Rocma and in that one image where he shot Idate with his harpoon gun), speaking of harpoon gun, because of that the final form is MetalGarurumon X, a Digimon with quite a lot of firepower, and why the X-antibody variant and not the normal one... because i think MetalGarurumon X looks cooler.

Yukisada

Poromon > Hawkmon > Owlmon > HippoGriffomon > Valdurmon

explanation: most of these lines are kinda hard to explain, specially this one, i just felt they went well with Yukisada's personality and design. Hawkmon is described as acting calm, cool and collected, i think Yukisada would enjoy having a calm friend to be with, Hawkmon could help him with taking care of people (specially Shiro) and the two could relax reading books and cooking. Owlmon because DUH and then Hippogriffomon to transition to the more mythical and angelic ending of the line, which caps off with Valdurmon, a mythical, holy bird Digimon.

Rocma

Hiyamon > Bearmon > Yukidarumon (Frigimon) > Blizzarmon > Marsmon

explanation: this one is a little bit easier to explain, Rocma is the most fighting capable inhabitant of Iceberg Isle (besides Idate) and is the only one who can actually keep up a fight with the orca, because of this, i made the line be themed with two concepts in mind, Bears (or artic mammals in general) and fighting, this is why the line starts with Bearmon, which then digivolves into Yukidarumon, a bear-looking snowman Digimon that can use it's freezing fists as an attack, then Yukidarumon digivolves into Blizzarmon, loosing the bear motif but keeping the artic mammal and warrior motif, and then finishing the line off with Marsmon, one of the members of the Olympos XII, know for his well-versed skills in combat technique, specially wrestling.

Peraco

i forgot the in-training/baby II form lol > Penmon > Chackmon > DaiPenmon > FrosVelgrmon

explanation: pretty easy to explain, penguins or other icy birds, starts with Penmon which then digivolves to Chackmon (because i couldn't find any good champion/adult level Digimon that matched the theme and i wanted to keep the whole "artic" motif going on...) then to DaiPenmon, and finally FrosVelgrmon, which is not a penguin but it is an ice-themed bird Digimon, so it fits.

Mafuyu

Pukamon > Gomamon > Ikkakumon > Zudomon > Vikemon

explanation: seals, just seals... and pinnipeds in general, it's the default Gomamon line, it just fits, they're both adorable, and also the visual of seeing this adorable seal girl with a gigantic walrus, a giant hammer-wielding monster and a viking furry is simply hilarious.

Rock

Pinomon > Falcomon > Diatrymon > Vulturemon > Gundramon

explanation: Pinomon and Falcomon have similar eyebr... i mean, "decorative feathers" and also because Falcomon's and Rock's personalities are similar, Diatrymon because it's Falcomon's default digivolution and i couldn't find another Digimon that could work (there's probably one, but i myself couldn't find it), then Vulturemon, adding firearms to the line's motif, because Rock is sometimes drawn with a gun (like on his official website artwork right there) and then we take that firearm motif to the most logical conclusion and end the line with Gundramon, the giant fucking Mechagodzilla-like Digimon that has more guns than the average USA redneck.

Idate

Bubbmon > Otamamon > Orcamon > MarinDevimon > ChaosSeadramon

explanation: this one was tough to make, i knew Idate had to have Orcamon, it was too obvious not to be in the line, MarinDevimon was also pretty easy come up with, Idate is quite the sadistic bastard and in-lore also has demon blood in his veins, so a ocean-themed demon Digimon was pretty obvious, the mega/ultimate level was tough, i decided to go with the pretty obscure ChaosSeadramon, to keep the whole evil/demonic motif going on. the in-training/Baby II and Rookie/Child one where tough, in the end i couldn't find any that would work nicely, so i had to choose something that would "kinda" fit, emphasis on those quotation marks, that's why i ended up setting with Bubbmon to Otamamon.

and that's it for now, i enjoyed making these lines, but it was pretty tough to put into written words why i chose each Digimon for each Character, some of these just came up because i thought "hey, that kinda fits"... so yeah, hope you guys enjoyed it, maybe i'll make another one later down the line, who knows.

Yatagaramon here is another redesign, the original one evolves from Diatrymon, this one evolves from Peckmon. Both are the Perfects of their respective Falcomon.

With this, all of the main cast can now go to Perfect, though there is still the side cast.

Proto Gizmon could destroy Adults while being at Child level, so it makes sense that Gizmon: AT can destroy Perfects at Adult level.

Gizmon: XT is a humanoid design, which teases Kurata's next plan.
