my first zelda game was ocarina of time!! tho i played it way after its initial release, haha. (i think my brother had phantom hourglass b4 that tho, but i can’t remember if i played any of it before i played OoT)

i had seen some of OoT at a friend’s house (she showed me darunia dancing to saria’s song lol), so after i saw the zelda charas in smash bros melee i went to pick up “a” zelda game used and got OoT (the gamecube port) as i remembered generally what it looked like lol

yes, botw is my fave game in the series no question! totk…. i love, a LOT. but i feel differently to it than i do abt botw. like, i feel like totk suffers from a lot of the same problems botw had (most notably the story), but with the added issue that this time around, it was surely something the devs knew ppl had an issue with in botw, yet still ended up essentially making the same game again as botw without really capitalizing on the opportunity to fully build on what botw started. (i will also never forgive them for getting rid of all the sheikah tech/shrines/etc either, lol). actually, i feel like the heart of the issue is, the devs wanted to have both “a sequel to botw” and simultaneously “a game that anyone can play without playing botw first and requiring no knowledge of it”— which are diametrically opposed ideas.

but at the same time, i am so, SO eternally grateful to have gotten another game in botw’s world, with botw’s characters, just the chance to spend more time in that hyrule was so important to me and i love every moment i spend in totk because of that. i also feel like totk link was designed specifically for me lol, its everything i would’ve wanted from his design i think. so lol idk it’s weird.

ANYWAYSYS tl;dr my fave zelda games are: 1) botw, 2) twilight princess, 3) majoras mask- with my fave 2d zelda being link’s awakening

favorite thing about them: ohohoho. what if you devoted yourself entirely to someone for nothing in return. what if you were doomed to be drawn to each other and yet fundamentally incompatible i.e. akutagawa valuing devotion but resenting being protected/relying on others… higuchi desperate to understand the misunderstood and to fix those who are suffering but never getting that reassurance she needs that she’s Doing the Right Thing.

anyway. my favorite thing about her is the intensity of her emotion. the fact that akutagawa becomes more than just the object of her romantic feelings - he becomes her purpose, and this doesn’t even develop from mutual love. she keeps herself in constant danger in a place she doesn’t belong for it, because she’s in so deep that she’s not even looking out for him just out of affection anymore. he’s no longer just a crush, he’s what keeps her going. to give up on him would be to give up on herself. to me it’s a super compelling, almost a descent-into-madness kind of devotion that is even more delicious to me than the dazai-akutagawa fixation because for higuchi there are canonical romantic feelings and rose-colored glasses involved. she can justify the bad things he does not only because she wants to but because she has to. or else she has to confront her own stupidity

least favorite thing about them: the watering down of her character to tropes. the simultaneous demonization and infantilization of her by the fanbase. the way she’s made into more of an aggressor in her relationship with akutagawa than he is??????

This is so so stupid but I got very happy when I read in your strawpage you are from 2003 too, I've lurking around seeing your art ever since DOL caught my eye and you're one of my favourite artists so having that bit in common is cool! Also if you haven't played Fields of Mistria or Homicipher I definitely recommend them! The first one is similar to Stardew Valley in the sense you're a farmer, you can decorate your house and romance any of the bachelors/bachelorettes but this one is more fantasy-like and the artstyle reminds me of 80s anime and Sailor Moon. The second came out recently and I haven't played it yet but I saw the trailer and some fanarts; you wake up in a terrifying unknown world where you have to survive and the romance options are very creepy men, one of the appeals of this one is trying to learn the world's language, it looks fun

i’m gonna apologize in advance for my lack of answer around “weakness” bc i dont see the likely traits as weaknesses per se, even if they are lolol even if they have caused conflict between them and i dont know how to explain why lol… i think bc those traits are a part of them just like any other and i feel like its their strong love that causes them to lash out which is… endearing and cute… LOL.

1. Reo: strength is amazing emotional resilience. he fell so hard but bounced back relatively quickly. great emotional reflection and insight, very very impressive to me fr. i’m a therapist so i work w reflection and insight often! its tough shit! esp when youre 17! weaknesssss… probably running his mouth when emotional and pushing nagi away when he rlly just wanted to keep him close but i love.., the drama of it all… LOL… mmm… reo’s denial of nagi’s feelings is also strong but he’s trying to protect himself. he’s truly just like me fr so i cannot judge him LOL. he’s a very beautiful and strong representation of human passion and just.. emotion. i love him a lot!

2. Nagi: strength is single minded devotion and determination even while finding himself during the journey to be the best in the world. i love that he’s sentimental about promises also, he’s very cute… both nare have a great gap moe thing going… weakness plot wise is definitely lack of a concrete ego and struggle to figure it out. but again insight is hard esp when ur 17! and had nobody in ur life before. he’s my favorite chara and feels relatable in the sense of uhhh listless and depressive experiences but rlly loving someone a lot regardless and that love being motivation to live well. he ofc also lashed out at reo and struggled to communicate but i count this as a mutual conflict more so than a holistic personal weakness… he seems to be doing his best to improve as much as he can w his limited insight (like trying to praise reo more) i know ppl often like to take sides in their conflict so i will say i do not believe in choosing a side between them lol. but ive seen nagi get way too much blame so that upsets me more. i know reo blame is out there but i somehow havent seen it as much. i dont think either should be blamed for mutual misunderstanding.

3. Dynamic: oh gosh what dont i love hahah… i just talked abt this in another ask but i love their devotion to each other, the strength of their bond - even if it wavers they cant break it, they cant help but love and need each other… truly spring of youth first love etc etc. theyve gone thru sm! adorable hakuho era, divorce arc, and now reunion… their trajectory is fascinating and they truly fit sm of my favorite tropes lol. also love that theyre silly together and best friends and each others first friends..!!! wails. theyre so cute. and messy LOL but idk that’s fun and they dont seem like, uniquely messy compared to other 17 yr olds. theyre a great snapshot of young love HAHA (i say this affectionately as a former Messy Teenager in Love… i adore them)

4. Canon moments: THE WAIST GRAB + “I’M REO’S PARTNER” SHAHSKSKS that solidified my obsession w them! also “ive always been with you” and nagi running at the sight of reo’s sad face and trying for the first time… those are my top 3! but i lose my mind with every new episode nagi internal monologue looool ch 29 KILLED ME i havent recovered yet nagi is so down bad for his wife… i am seeing now that my top 3 are nagi @ reo moments… oops. what can i say i love a wifeguy!

5. HCs: hmmm this is hard bc i feel like… i dont have a lot… if i want them to do smthn it usually ends up as a fic detail, so im not sure if i have any concrete universal ones besides 1) they get more plants and pets when theyre older. i have two cats im VERY biased so either two cats, or one cat and one dog. cat for nagi dog for reo :) oh individually… i like the idea of reo with beauty marks, both of them with sunspots/freckles… nagi with bunny teeth. :’) sorry if this isnt a lot 😭😭😭 im not a big hc girly but i like spinning ideas with friends about little AUs and what they would do in those AUs so i think that is probably specific headcannoning? but feels like universally canon nare-related… unsure how to explain sorry 😭

6. Other ships: Most similar is probably Reki/Langa from SK8. I like Renga but they’re not my favorite simply bc I’m content with their canon storyline and don’t feel the need to explore them further… but theyre very cute and have the friends/talent comparison/misunderstanding/loss of priority/interest to “better competition”/sport anime flavor of gaaaay going on LOL. I also like Gabimaru/Yui from Hell’s Paradise but that is… less concretely similar lol. More like vibes of 1) fluffy white haired guy who was empty inside until He Fell for His Wife and 2) cute, sweet wife who teaches guy how to Live… precious. i love gabiyui a lot and had to disqualify them from top 7 only bc theres not muuuuch abt them that we get to see but what we see is AMAZING and PERFECT and i would die for a gabiyui domestic happiness spinoff plsplspslspsl hshzhksms and ofc their marriage is the driving motivation for gabimaru in the story…!! Newly into DanDaDan but I think you could spin nagireo as momokarun… but also less concretely… but very fun best friends x dynamic duo x sweet teenage love with a little misunderstanding vibes there :)

OKAY SAME ANON sorry this is the third one,, but im going thru the rest of your asks and im realizing so many things.

I agree, a show SHOULD be able to stand on its own as an individual thing rather than counting on a sequel to continue its story. Now that I'm looking at the show in this lens, it is very lackluster. I still do quite love it, scratches that slice of life itch,, but mystery wise? No. I loved how ominous the "Everyday" song was. I thought it was supposed to foreshadow Armageddon (which it did, kind of) but more so it was for the Beel Gabriel reveal in the end. Aziraphale ran around looking for clues, but the annoying thing for me is he never puts it together? It was just something he does for US, the audience. It would've been good if he acknowledged all those clues in the ending, or realized it faster than us. In the end it seems so fruitless for him to investigate bc it never really did him any good? It was just for the audience to see. Also the Nina--Maggie subplot was cute, but it was also lacking? I like the point of "you cant force us together" bc theyre humans and its not that easy. But as a subplot it was waaay too ignored for it to be any relevant at all to the plot.

The thing about you mentioned abt A/C being supporting charas in the book, I agree. The good thing abt their dynamic is even with little clues and gestures we realize how good they are w/each other. The subtlety is what makes everything MORE interesting. But s2 makes it revolve around the ship, to the point where its all just filler. I dont mind filler,, but as you said, canon-compliant filler would be better. I appreciate that they're the main characters now since more screentime but I'd love it if they weren't ship-focused and still had proper interaction and dynamics with people outside of their circle (which I liked from the book + s1).

Anyways,, I still like it. But I appreciate seeing your takes since it really changed the way I view the show now. I feel more neutral about it now somewhat? I'm not invested in fandoms anymore bc of irl stuff so I don't think I would've spotted these things like you did so I really, really appreciate all your insights. Thank you. There's a lot of things to fix if s3 ever gets announced.

I think Neil mentioned that Terry brought up the "Everyday" song as a song about the Apocalypse (the book or S1), which could have been so good and ominous......instead it got used on this random Beelz x Gabe romance that came out of nowhere 😂😂 I thought the Nina x Maggie romance had potential in the beginning, but also completely fell flat/didn't go anywhere towards the end. Again, my takes are NOT trying to convince people who liked the show that they should change their opinions and NOT like the show anymore -- I'm just trying to explain why I personally didn't like it. idk why but your post just appeared on my feed lol but as an ex genshin player and resident hsr player, you'll have no problem adjusting at all! The big diff is the gameplay though. If you're fine with turn based combat and auto-ing battles during farming then you'll enjoy it. I can't recommend it if youre into fast paced combat like genshin and wuwa though. It's more casual friendly, I only login like maybe 4-7 times a month and still get all the rewards. You can also auto clear the abyss equivalent up to like stage 8. For team building, prwyden does detailed guides so you dont have to worry about thinking abt which char pairs well with who. It's a bit confusing at first, but it's not that complicated i think. It's the same dps, buffer, healer etc. roles genshin has. Relic farming is a bit trickier though, you cant do off pieces so itll take awhile to get a good set if you have bad luck like me. Also yeah, the chara trailers, damn I can't believe they got THE Reol for Rappa, that's legendary. Overall, I still recommend you to try it if you still want to!! It's fun if you vibe with the gameplay. We also got a lot of husbandos lately, esp Sunday who's rlly hyped up coming up soon.

honestly kanata is one of the characters with more consistent writing! shocking considering ehat linuj said abt his og intent w her in her chara sheet lol. im meed she didnt get to live longer that would have been super cool

its very lovely! i like that linuj didnt use Toothpaste Color for her color scheme .the purples are very nice. as previously stated she needs a tbh stare.
