To understand Obi-Wan, you have to understand that his reputation of being demure or a bitch are not mutually exclusive. In fact, I would say you can't have Obi-Wan without at least a little of both.

Obi-Wan is someone who always has a remark on the tip of his tongue. It's just his instinctual first reaction. Always some quip or bite of sarcasm. But the thing is, he knows when to rein it in. He knows when his choice words are appropriate and when they're not. And if he feels particularly compelled to be bitchy when he can't, he'll phrase things in a way that will be scathing without the target ever realizing what hit them.

He's known as the negotiator. He knows his way around words. Now, it's my understanding that we so rarely see him utilizing this particular skill set in canon because that's not what the story was ever about. It's demonstrated in other ways. How he's regal and more reserved amongst figures of respect to downright maliciously petty while facing foes like the Sith.

Take Anakin's perception of Obi-Wan. He sees Obi-Wan as a perfect, stuck-up, unflappable Jedi. This competes with the fact that Obi-Wan is particularly catty and playful with Anakin and routinely chides him for behaviors... yet does many of the same himself. He's far from perfect but obviously wants Anakin to know what's best and do better than him.

Anakin has this perception of Obi-Wan (not only because it seems he's never good enough for him) because it's how he perceives Obi-Wan's station in the world based on how Obi-Wan is treated by others.

To really get into Obi-Wan, one must talk about how his self worth issues constantly war his ego. Constantly building himself up only to tear himself down again. Going around saying Sith Lords are his specialty (having never actually defeated one lmao) yet finding himself shocked and deeply honored when Mace calls him the master of soresu.

His moments of grandeur are sharply transposed by his feelings of insignificancy and inadequacy.

He's a complex, multifaceted, hypocritical human being like any. He's elegant and bitchy and yes, at times a sopping wet cat.

He's all these things because he's Obi-Wan

You know what I want to see?

An anime where we get the standard Big Bad Evil Guy standing up on a big rock/mountain/flagpole/monster corpse doing his big villain monologue and the main character and/or the rival and/or the BBEG's heroic mentor or family member, basically the two or three people really invested in the big bad are doing the standard 'just standing there and/or arguing back in dramatic fashion'.

But by at most about 30 seconds or so into the rant, the 3 or 5 or 10 other good guys we're expecting to just stand around doing nothing start wandering off and actually start building something.

And then through the rest of the monologue, every time we cut back to the heroes side, while the shot is always focused on the MCs, the background has all those side characters building this... I dunno, some giant laser cannon or big fuck-off piece of railway artillery and it just keeps getting bigger and bigger and neither the MCs nor the Big Bad acknowledge or even notice this.

Until the Big Bad finally finishes his monologue and immediately takes a big laser blast and/or artillery shell to the face and fucking dies.

For some reason I think that would be really funny.

Was it ever established what exactly happened between DMK and Mir Falspar to cause his shattering..?

It remains unknown, DMK tends to blow off any questions that require him to go into more detail than that, and Mir Falspar won't entertain the topic to begin with.

But... Occasionally, something more slips.

I adore your Pesci survives au. It makes perfect sense and it fucking rocks. Pesci keeping the necklace and holding it like that…ough…

However, I raise you, prosciutto survives au. Prosciutto barely makes it out of that train alive. He almost loses to the light several times, but he holds off long enough for Melone to get there and get him to a hospital.

He’s out cold for several days, and they had to amputate a leg because it got infected so badly, but sure enough, Prosciutto wakes up in a cold sweat. when Prosciutto awakes, the first word he says.

“Pesci…Pesci…Where…Where’s Pesci?”

Eventually coming to his senses, he realizes he’s in a hospital, and Risotto is waiting for him. No one else.

“Risotto! What’s going on? Where’s everyone, where’s Pesci?”

Risotto gets up and takes a knee. Then he looks directly into his eyes and said, with the most withheld, teary eyed expression he’s ever seen him make,

“Pesci died. Taken out by Bucciarati. The rest of the gang is gone too. Just you and me.”

Prosciutto hardly registers it, but it sinks in eventually. He remembers watching Bucciarati dismember him. Powerless, and too beaten up to stop it. Forever stuck in the shadow of that train, nothing but a poor example.

It’s cold outside today, isn’t it? For spring, at least.

Pesci, immediate shut down but he’ll live. He’d have his screams and wails, he’d beg and damn everything to hell, then he’d cry and cry and cry, because he failed, for real this time. But he’ll get up eventually, he’ll hate himself forever but he will get up, and then it’ll be time to be a man. He’d be obligated to be better, to make it, to let it not be in vain. (I could even see him getting into suits…)

Prosciutto on the other hand would be sore to the touch, just imagine a Narancia level freak out but it’s our ever collected Prosci. I don’t think his face would ever be dry again. He didn’t even win, Pesci was his trump card and he didn’t even get to win. He played too rough and now he looks like a jigsaw puzzle with a couple pieces missing, and for what? And for what

long story short, i just wanted to do something for april fools… last year albedo made an appearance, so i thought of doing the same this year... but i felt like it would be repetitive. so given the recent developments and future events, this idea came up lol

in any case, it's the truth that i've been warming up to neuvillette.... i've been writing more for him, and if you saw my 2023 wrapped post you probably saw him as a 'runner-up'... and i really do mean it when i say he's been kinda occupying the back of my brain since last year hskdljfklsd at the end of his story quest... his tone when talking to kiara.... sobsob ueueue

however, i'm honestly still unsure if i can/want to have an actual selfship with him (ó﹏ò｡) i can't figure out how it'll work out yet... it just feels like with neuvillette's canon personality, he wouldn't even think of glancing my way in the first place, given the circumstances…. and zhongli... what do i do about him.... ough....

maybe he'll be a separate ship (e.g. zhongwrinth is one au, wrinlette in one au) on his own… maybe rinvillette will be a 'pining but not actually dating' kind of selfship.... idk..... on that note, i really should be making a selfship post huh lol

also, he's rerunning in less than 24 hours (like. 19 hours-ish for me) and i hoped this would be a sufficient offering for the hydro dragon to come home early… i'll play him twinkle twinkle little star on my guzheng while pulling or something, since it should arrive tomorrow afternoon lmao… i hope he likes the instrument that 'sounds like flowing water' hdlshdls
