I love immortal characters who are in for the longevity

I love the drama, story, and implications they bring in

The horrific realization of their best friends looking down on a group photo where one obviously shines younger then the rest

The mortal lover looking at their wrinkles in the mirror, only to turn and see none on their partner

The pain of many wars. Enough wars that they can no long differentiate their contents. Maybe scars have built against their skin over each other, maybe they never scar leaving the immortal with only memories to tell the tale.

Outliving countries, laws, and cultures.

The despair of holding the last piece of their original life, an ancient piece of art, the feather of an extinct bird, a faded letter from an old friend

Their brain isn't able to handle the centuries.

Their memory becoming so full and clouded they forget decades and decades to make way for new memories. They know they won't remember the majority of life, it is all fleeting memories to them.

Or their humanity can't take it. They've seen more than any mortal could manage to in a lifetime. They've lost themselves a hundred times, become a hundred different people, and they will become a hundred more. Their sanity loses itself with each year they continue on.

They write books forever, learn every instrument, speak and forget how to speak many languages.

The immortal runs into the great-great-grandchildren of old comrades, and weeps at the constant mark they leave on the world

Life continues on, and so do they

Today (August 31st/ Aries 19th) is Tank’s birthday!

Featuring his fav bar bestie Dezerte. Bro probably called her ex hot.

I don’t get to talk about Tank a lot— so here’s a bunch to make up for that. What they’d do on his birthday:

He’d keep his birthday a secret. And he wouldn’t have many plans. Unfortunately for him, Alope knows everyone’s birthday bc she checked the guild paperwork. Hana asked for his horoscope and remembered the date. And Enid.

Hana would ask him to meet her at Inver and give him sweets claiming they were extras. Alope would be there too, and would say happy birthday at the same time Hana gave him the cookies.

Then Tank would think aloud for a second: “Hey. Didn’t you give E ‘extra’ sweets on his birthday too?”

H: “I just happened to be making some.” T: “On all our birthdays, huh?” H: “If you don’t like that I can take them back-“ T: “Why would I let you take back my birthday treat?” H: “They AREN’T birthday treats.”

Alope would think it was really funny (and not understand that they were birthday sweets.). After they bothered him, Enid would be especially lax with him. Like they’d be the one to say “Let’s head down to the Bistro!” It’d scare everyone.

E: “You think I like being mean to him?” Alope and Hana: …. Hana: “….Yeah.” E: “You two actually suck.” (Wanted to call them assholes SO BAD but cannot curse AT people.)

At the bistro, Enid would actually drink too. (Drunk Enid jumpscare) Alope and Hana would have to take Enid home 100%. Tank would stay late so he could share his sweets with Dezerte and hear the tea.

When he was on the way home Ignis and Magnolia would catch him and gift him something fancy— Magnolia would feign offense for not “being invited” And he’d have a nice little chat with them.

Probably his least lonely birthday in 15 years.
