ok so there have been sooo many jokes made about that f1 sebmark fic that is literally 6 million words on ao3 but i’m not sure if any of you have actually read it bc why haven't i heard anything about the fact that it starts with mark helping seb overcome domestic abuse ??!?

for the record it starts in 2013 and mark finds out seb is being abused by his boyfriend, heikki kovalainen, so they have to go to christian horner (💀💀) for help. for modern f1 fans that's kinda like if checo found out max was being abused by hulkenberg so they still went to christian horner

i was thinking about it earlier today, but do you think jared/jensen has 15k out of the 23k supernatural rpf fics because it's the people that are afraid to ship wincest projecting all of their wincest fantasies onto the other pairing?

i'm not an expert on this topic and i read j2 fic far less than i do wincest so idk how the shipping culture has shifted over time, but i feel like this largely isn't the case. i have read that in the early seasons (1-3) of supernatural, a lot of fans took to j2 because they were squicked out by the incest of samdean and didn't have another significant outlet for their shipping, but from the j2 fic and fandom i've engaged with it's significantly divorced from the wincest dynamic.

i would say that nowadays since there are other ships a fan can latch onto other than The Brothers, this probably isn't a primary motivator when choosing to rpf-ify jared and jensen. it might have occurred when options were more limited (significantly enough to be mentioned, but perhaps not as the overwhelming majority; i'm not sure), but the j2 fandom i see today appears very devoted to the actors themselves.

also—the modern fandom culture at large seems to be such that if you're uncomfortable with incest, you're probably inclined to be uncomfortable with rpf, too, since that's pretty contentious and even many otherwise open-minded shippers draw the line at rpf. i would assume people like this are more likely to discard both ships.

this is all just speculation though. i don't go deep in the j2 hole; i just think rpf is inherently funny so i cheer them on mostly from the sidelines and occasionally read fic that piques my interest. so i don't know too much about the attitudes and influences among the more dedicated shippers, sorry!

ok but really the part that always gets me the most about miss missing you is the second verse:

and the idea of patrick of working on this song during the hiatus and shelving it because it's not *his* solo song. of the imaginery of meeting someone else when you're a kid and them igniting a passion in you just by being there and believing in you so fiercely. of drifting apart of that person but that passion, that fire remains and maybe it's enough to keep you going on your own. because they may have feed the sparks inside you enough to turn them into a wildfire that can sustain itself without them. you don't need them anymore, you never did (except you did, maybe) because that fire is all yours but you miss them. and you miss missing them. and you hope maybe you can burn bright enough to keep yourself alive

and then in a funny twist of fate or a well constructed story you can't finish your song because it's not yours. not really. it's not finished until you get back together. and finally it's that burning passion that gets you back together and it's only when you're with your band that finally you can burn as bright

So, we know that there was absolutely nothing romantic about the Elrond/Galadriel kiss. But the Orcs don't. For them, that would have been akin to watching two famous celebrities kiss in public. No matter what universe it is, almost every creature has some inclination towards drama and gossip. Orcs are no exception.

The news of Elrond and Galadriel's kiss will spread like wildfire between the Orc legions and the surviving Orcs will take the gossip back home. Soon, all of them will discover the joys of not only shipping but the most tempting kind of shipping ever: RPF.

Rumours will birth theories. Theories will birth variations of the same story. It won't be long before 'Elrondriel' will become a rage among all Uruk. All of their forums will be filled with discussions about Elrond and Galadriel. Some devoted stalkers will find out all information that there is about the two of them. At first, they'll be angry to find out that Galadriel is married but later celebrate upon finding out that Galadriel's husband is dead. Some Orcs will decide that even if Celeborn is not dead, they will find him and kill him to clear the path for Elrond.

It won't stop at mere gossip for they will weave fanfics about Elrondriel. From the fluffiest fluff to the dirtiest smut, there will be all kinds of Elrondriel fics floating around Mordor. Fanarts will be commissioned and, of course, many will be NSFW. Every month there will be a week dedicated especially to Elrondriel.

Of course, like every fandom, things won't always be smooth for this one. Nasty fanwars would often breakout between Elrond solos and Galadriel solos. They would accuse each other of caring for only one half of the ship and not the other. Galadriel solos will accuse Elrond for not taking a stand for his love and murdering Celeborn at the first chance. Elrond solos will accuse Galadriel of not murdering him herself to elope with Elrond.

Little do these Elrondriels know that their days of peace are short lived. For they are about to meet that one inevitable foe who is the bane of every shipper's existence. An Anti. It is not just any anti. It is The Anti. One Anti To Rule Them All.

When Sauron takes over and hears rumours of this ship, he would brush it aside at first without knowing what it is about, confident that soon this crackship with be forgotten when he introduces the ultimate ship with its rich lore to them: Saurondriel. But the Orcs would refuse to back down and accept any other ship but Elrondriel. One day, some fanfics would make their way to Sauron's hands and he would be incensed upon reading them.

Tyrant that he is, Sauron would order all Elrondriel fanfics and fanart to be burnt and deleted from existence. Anyone in Mordor who is caught writing or drawing or even uttering Elrond and Galadriel's names in the same sentence would be made to write ten Saurondriel one shots and tortured. If Sauron likes their fics and they are without any grammatical errors then he might spare their lives. Let no one say the Lord Of Mordor isn't a benevolent ruler.

But Sauron's censorship policy wouldn't be able to destroy the spirit of Elrondriel that burns within the Orcs' hearts. Fanfics would be written in secret. Fanarts would be made but hidden from Sauron's or the Nazgûls' sights. Orcs would tell their children stories of Elrondriel.

Then, after Sauron gets defeated in the Battle Of The Last Alliance, Elrondriel shall witness a renaissance. Smut will overflow. Fix-its fics will pile up. Edits will be made. Until.....the Return of the Anti.

Cause if you Gale Cleven are on the run and got free only because your best friend™️ literally sacrificed himself so you could escape and you don't know wether he's alive or dead, and his favorite extinct animal is the unicorn, and you see a white horse in the middle of a fucking war, a white horse bloodied but otherwise unharmed, tell me that's not a sign from the universe to let you know that your best friend™️ is indeed still alive.

And you Gale Cleven stare at it with such sorrow and devotion because you're not a betting man, you're as pragmatic as they come, you don't believe in luck or in signs but you're willing to take the horse as one, because it means you didn't kill your best friend™️ for the price of your own freedom.
