Hello! I have a nice ask week ask: What are the chances of your writing a pole dancer AU for Tarlos? Just curious. And no pressure! Just because I happen to think it would be the greatest thing ever .
hey cig! thanks for the ask!
i've actually tried to write this before, but aside from a really elite sex scene (the idea was fantastic, i won't lie) it wasn't a success. I think maybe my brain is wired to seperate my creative pursuits from each other or something? i just struggled to get momentum!
i do think a sports au would be sick in the pole dancing world, although i do fear i would get too technical with it and everyone would be like 'lola what the fuck is a marchetti split? why is a regular invert not the same as a twizzle invert? what do you mean his elbow wasn't locked before he took his leg off in the octopus?'
thanks for the ask!

This is from the upcoming chapter of Rhythms, where Carlos seeks peace in the water:
Carlos writes a poem in his head as he swims. It happens fairly often – the water holds his body and simultaneously lifts words like driftwood and bottles containing messages into his head. The water carries him effortlessly, like he’s weightless, like there’s nothing to resist against. Scott beats Carlos’ time on the front crawl, but by hardly anything.
“Okay, gentlemen, backstroke,” Coach Serrano shouts. The sharpness of his whistle echoes with a bounce around the white-tiled room.
Carlos doesn’t have long enough to catch his breath, but he curls around and tips backwards anyway, his semi-erection poking just shy of the blue water’s surface. He tries to think only of the ceiling high above him, that blank white expanse of nothing. But onto the ceiling he projects the image of being caressed by fingers, mimicked by the water pulsing against his skin. It never ends, the desire to be touched. It’s like he has some sort of disease. The cure is reserved for the privileged, and he is not among them. Sean, with all his Speedos-bravado, gets to leave swim practice later and go make out with Carys Harper, while her parents think they’re ‘doing homework.’ They got to third base last week. Unfortunately, Carlos knows all the details. The guys talk about the cheerleaders like they’re cattle. So what does Carlos do? He blushes a little, then laughs along.

I only just realised you're doing this and I certainly hope you're not still in an airport!!! But 2 and 3 and 15!
thank you for this ask, CIG! I'm sorry it took me so long to answer (although clearly I am no longer at an airport lol). I already answered these three, but i thought that for 15 I could maybe talk a bit more about my writing process? hope you're okay with that!
so my answer to the actual question (do you plan your fics or prefer to watch them unfold?) is that I do make a plan these days, although I'm not very good at sticking to it. but the process (even if it's not well followed) usually goes something like this:
1. daydream up idea (usually in the shower).
2. pitch it to someone (usually @rmd-writes or @celeritas2997 who are constantly being bombarded with my borderline crack fic ideas).
3. finesse general arc of story based on initial feedback.
4. write title and summary (I know, I'm a FREAK).
5. throw all ideas into a document.
6. separate ideas under different chapter headings.
7. write chapters as per idea outline, usually pushing back ideas as I usually come up with new ideas as I write, go way over the projected word count and end up with really long chapters.
ideally I like to post as I write (usually giving myself a 2 or 3 chapter buffer) because i find the stress makes me more productive. occasionally I pre write the whole thing but I have to say I hate it lol.
if anyone else would like to share their writing process, I would love to know!!
