in chapter 1107 (pages 15-16) when Saturn & the Blackbeard captains discuss Teach being “special” does their wording specifically refer to a genetic lineage or something else? also wondering if there's any additional context around Van Augur's claim that they're after “the world”

yes! saturn expresses surprise that devon would defer to anyone, and devon says in explanation that teach is 特別/tokubetsu (special/extraordinary/exceptional).

saturn's response to that is 血筋もな/chisuji mo na, and chisuji does mean literally 'bloodline'- it can also be translated as like 'lineage/descent'. it is indeed a genetic/biological term (so he doesn't appear to be referring to a metaphorical 'lineage'). you can see the kanji for 'blood', 血/chi, is part of the word. the mo means is like 'as well/in addition.' so saturn's response is like "his bloodline (is special/extraordinary), as well."

there's nothing i can add about van augur's line about the world, though; it's quite literally just the one word, 世界/sekai, 'world.'

Lorre's Cat Café: Danel

An evil, evil little creep.

Danel was dropped off with us by the owners of a diamond shop, who got fed up with him harassing their poodle Lorraine. This entitled little twit demanded treats, chin scratches, tummy rubs, and play round the clock, and had no patience. He tried to boss the other cats around, with hissing and biting. When hunting birds and rodents, his sadism rivaled Pepi's.

The only things that could humble Danel were monkeys (one of our guests works with small primates and brings them to visit), and Polo, which terrifed him.

Danel was not at the café for very long. He was swiftly adopted by the manager of an adult party store called Doom Island, that specializes in whips, chains andother BDSM gear. With his sadistic aura, Danel seemed the store's born mascot. He did not take to a feline gimp suit very well, but accepted a spiky collar and wears it with pride.

There are currently enough games left that we can tally ALL possible playoff scenarios. In the East, there are four teams mathematically alive: the Penguins, the Sabres, the Islanders, and the Panthers.

The FLORIDA PANTHERS can clinch a playoff spot with:

A win (Thursday, vs CAR)

An OT/SO loss + any two of NYI/PIT/BUF loss

PIT and BUF both lose out

The NEW YORK ISLANDERS can clinch a playoff spot with:

A win (Wednesday, vs MTL) + any two of PIT regulation loss/FLA regulation loss/BUF loss

An OT/SO loss + PIT loses out + BUF regulation loss

PIT loses out with at least one regulation loss + BUF loses at least twice

The PITTSBURGH PENGUINS can clinch a playoff spot with:

Two wins (Tuesday, vs CHI, and Thursday, vs CBJ)

One win and one OT/SO loss + any two of BUF loss/FLA regulation loss/NYI loss

One win + NYI regulation loss + BUF loses at least twice

The BUFFALO SABRES can clinch a playoff spot with:

Three wins (Tuesday, vs NJD, Thursday, vs OTT, and Friday, vs CBJ) + any two of PIT reg loss/FLA reg loss/NYI loss

Two regulation wins and one OT/SO loss + NYI regulation loss + PIT loses out

And there you have it. Florida and Pittsburgh are both win-and-you're-in, and neither Buffalo nor the Island control their destiny. Because none of these teams face each other, there are no mutually exclusive wild-card pairs.
