Here is the appearance post, it's an ask because Devil!Stone appeared in the most chaotic way he could (aka disguising himself as Felon!Stone for like two months in my head).

The other OCs aren't in this universe, simply because I can't see them there. I'm trying to see if they are there and they're like "Nah, we're not in that universe." And you know what, Devil!Stone just gives the vibes of "has no friends", so I'm not complaining about it.

The inherent homoeroticism of knowing exactly what someone else needs, and when they need it. The feeling of two lives being entirely intertwined by necessity, a squire serving their knight. Shaping your life around helping someone greater then you, and then in turn them seeing you, needing you, carving a space in their heart for you. Just because you cared. The symbiotic love between an assistant the master they serve.

I do love reading any version of Butcher being a father, I love his fatherly side.

The girl in the amulet being Diane!! She finally gets to be in a blurb and I love her.

Devil!Stone having to deal with his worst nightmare: conversing with people who aren't family.

Diane being so excited to move around in this new place. Ugh, she's so cute.

I love how he literally just met her but Devil!Stone already thinks of Diane as his daughter. When did he decide to adopt her? Nobody knows, but that has never mattered to any Stone variant.

It seemed like weeks went by as Lucifer II poured over ancient texts in tongues almost forgotten by time itself, searching for a safe way to extract the soul.

Yet, in the end, they settled on their first idea.

The two reigning demons of the kingdom deemed it best that Adam is put back into the amulet, so he can hopefully aid with getting the trapped soul out.

Lucifer II was clearly hesitant on the matter, always being so careful with the soul of his beloved, but alas, this is the price he must pay for being the more proficient one at magic between the two.

He watched as the body went limp, soul quite literally leaving his eyes before him, when the chant came to a close, his energy sapping just a little. Nothing he won't recover from. It's a minor spell at best.

"I will protect you, don't you worry, my king. I shall get you both out," he vows to himself, never once leaving the ever-so fragile vessel of the fellow king.

Speaking of which...

Adam opened his eyes to find himself under a grand oak tree. Like he always did, when coming to this little realm.

The bright, toothy smile greeting him was also one he had grown accustomed to.

The girl had been sitting on his chest, her legs crossed.

"You're back!"

He smiled at her.

"I'm back! And are you gonna let me sit up, little lady?"

The girl moved off him, bare feet once more on the grassy field. The weather nothing more than pleasant, with a handful of clouds dotted around the sky.

Not much lied beyond the prairie. In fact, this world was only prairie fields. The proud oak tree being its one and only landmark.

Slowly, elegantly, he rose, leaning against the tree, ruffling the girl's hair.

"What have you been up to, hm?"

"I've been organizing!"

"Oh? Care to show me?"

With a firm nod, she scaled the tree, her bushy tail helping with balance, despite having done it millions of times. Literally millions, with how long she's been here. Little hands had long-since learned which branches to grab and how to pull her up.

Her walked-in path shows clearly in the way there's bark missing in a few spots

Leisurely, he followed her upwards into the little shack he helped her build centuries ago.

Not much has changed since the last time he was here a mere handful of weeks ago, but he took the time to look over every detail nonetheless.

Indeed, the shelves had been cleaned, plush dolls lined up neatly along the wall.

"Oh, even your bed is made," he comments, surprised, "I thought for sure I'd see that little nest of yours."

The girl shrugged, climbing onto his shoulders with ease, and he held her firmly in place. Sure, if she fell, no pain would be felt, but it'd make him feel horrible either way.

"I wanted to change things up! Does it look nice?"

"Of course if does, sweetpea. All that matters is that you like it. And say, do you want to hear about what I got up to?"

The excited and loud "YES!" surely would have scared off any birds, if such creatures existed here, and Adam chuckled, settling down on the rickety, but comfy, bed.

All it took was one glance in her direction for the girl to nestle into his side, staring up at him attentively, clinging onto every last word, ears forward in alertness.

In the other world, Lucifer II had diligently worked to track down the previous owner of the amulet.

The servant who opened the door quickly dropped to the floor in a deep bow, and let the king inside the family home of nobility.

It was evident in the way they flaunted their wealth. There was classy and then there was whatever he was looking at. The amount of gold which plated everything almost made him shield his eyes. Almost.

He spoke to one of the elder inhabitants, who seemed surprised at the name being requested of them.

Lucifer II almost regretted coming to the house, with how boring the conversations were. He could have fallen asleep while standing! Ridiculous.

But it did yield useful answers in the end. When still alive, one of their own had cast out said child. It would be a justified assumption to believe the amulet was somehow involved.

At least that gave him something to work with. Hopefully. The little quest turning into a full on investigation, leading him all the way to the land of the living, standing before a headstone of a corpse which refused to rot and decay.

Unfortunately, it would have been frowned upon to dig it up when others could see. So he opted to go the easy route.

With a snap of his fingers, the pale body of a little girl was laid on the floor of the study. Not even an autopsy or an embalming had been performed. Whoever buried her was in a rush and did not wish to waste a cent in the process.

At least it made the revival easier, and meant she could be returned to her rightful body.

Adam talked to the amulet which was once more in his hands.

"It'll feel a little weird, but I'll be right here. Nothing will hurt you."

A pulse of light shines.

"You ready?"

It pulses again.

That's all the confirmation Lucifer II needs, as he goes trough with the procedure. Before he's even fully done, the girl leaps into Adam's arms with a joyous shriek, causing a yelp from him.

The scream makes Lucifer II drop the crystal she was trapped in, shattering it. Strangely, he doesn't find himself getting upset at that, just watching the interaction unfold before him, as he takes a small sip of his beverage.

"Easy, easy, settle down, you're-"

"Supposed to be slow, I know, I know!" The girl finishes for him, yet shows absolutely no sign of following the advice, with the way her little claws almost shred his fur coat.

"And what are you supposed to do now?" Adam smirks, and gestures towards his husband.

The girl pauses, eyes following where he pointed to.

Adam can almost see when the dots connect, with how she perks up seconds later.

"OH! Yeah! Oh. Uhm... Thank you.... Mister king guy...?" she smiles shyly at the end, not knowing what to say

Adam stifles his laugh at how unsure she looks.

Lucifer II just smiles and nods, putting the cup down, and shoots a playful glare at the other demon in the room.

"You're most welcome, Diane. I do apologize that we took so long. And I am afraid you really are not supposed to be moving around this much, lest you hurt yourself."

Diane seems like she's about to protest, when Adam placates her.

"In the meanwhile, do you want to see your new room, princess? I'll carry you."

Lucifer II briefly glances at the shattered crystal, but opts to follow his husband and his daughter out the door.

They're more important.

Devil!Stone has all of the guilt right now. A child is in the amulet and he didn't know.

I'm so curious as to who is in the amulet though. To me, it's either Mārīte or Diane. It could possibly be Laila, but I also doubt it.

The king is getting used to the halls as he slowly stalks trough them.

He's in no rush, and has all the time in the world to inspect every last crevice and every last new staff member.

"You redecorated," he hums, stopping in front of a window onlooking the kingdom they rule.

His husband nods, "It just sort of happened, I suppose. Do you like it?"

"It's different."

"Good different?" he asks hopefully.

Adam's lip quirks up.

"Sure. Good different."

The absolutely adorable sight of the demon wagging his tail makes Adam smile.

"Say... How long was I gone this time?" he asks out of plain curiosity, "I hope you did not miss me too much."

"Ah. It was... Longer than usual, I have to admit, my king. I was almost beginning to fear you'd have to stay in that awful place for the rest of eternity!"

Adam can't help but roll his eyes, yet the smile widens. "Come on, the amulet is not so bad. I had plenty of room in there, pet. Quite comfortable too. Though, I suppose most the time I was unconscious."

"Maybe not bad for you!" Lucifer II grumbles, and reaches down to cup the others face gently, looking into his eyes, brow ever-so slightly furrowed, "I missed you so much. It felt like a chunk of my soul was missing, with the hole only growing as each day passed."

He... had not been expecting those words.

"And... How do you feel now, pet?"

"Like I am whole again," he rumbles, unable to stop himself from kissing the fellow king.

Servants politely ignored them. By now, they are aware that the first months after a revival are the worst. For both of them.

Adam is still getting the hang of working a body after possible years of inactivity, whilst Lucifer II is coming to terms his lover is here and tangible to him once more.

"You know, my king... How come you never talk about what it's like?"

"What what's like, pet?"

"The amulet. It... Doesn't hurt, right?" the slight waver in his voice tells Adam everything he needs to know.

"You're not hurting me by putting me there, if that's what you're asking. And again, I spend most of the time asleep."

"And what of the times you're awake?"

Adam hums.

"What a good question. Did you know that I'm not alone in there?"

Horror overtakes the other demon. The thought of his kings rest being interrupted by a force who is not he himself is downright blasphemous!

"You are not?! Since when? Oh, my king, I apologize! I shall get you a new one at the first chance I get!"

Lucifer II is stopped from his ongoing, embarrassment fueled rant when Adam laughs.

"My king? What is so amusing?"

"Well... I always figured you knew. She's good company though. Quite.... Dare I say, alive. Lively. A feisty little thing," there's a hint of fondness in his voice.

"She? Wait, Adam, my love, my king, what do you mean you thought I knew? And alive... There been someone trapped there whom I do not know about! For possibly a millennium! Adam!" panic flares trough the king, the situation now setting in, his body tensing.

He thinks of the missing persons reports which occasionally pop up within the castle, most of which end in tragedy or go unsolved.

He thinks of the poor soul trapped there, away from their family, for who-knows how long. Too long, most likely.

His tone turns serious, and as much as he hates doing work while on a break from his duties, this seems important. A life depends on it.

"What does she look like? Do you know her name?"

Adam doesn't even bat an eye at the steely tone of voice.

"How about we get to your study first, pet? I doubt you'd be able to do much in a hallway."

In a blink, he's on the other side of the palace, gently shoved into a plush chair.

"Speak. Please." Lucifer II requests, while in the process of unlocking a small, hidden vault, where the soul-containing amulet is typically stored.

With gentleness unprecedented for someone of his stature, he lets it dangle from his tight hold, watching it swing around, looking for any traces of life within it.

"She's been there since day one. Every time I wake up there, she's standing above me and requesting to play."

"Play... Is it a child?"

"Looks like one."

Guilt almost eats the demon king alive then and there. Of course it's a kid trapped in there. Of course! Why wouldn't it be?!

"Human too, I think--"

"Shh! I feel something!"

Silence envelops the room like a plague, as Lucifer II focuses, but curses mere seconds later.

"It's only reacting to your voice. It's so weak it has to be human!"

Leaning in, Adam rests his elbows on the wooden table, looking at the beautifully carved crystal with a hint of a smile.

He takes a breath before speaking to whomever is trapped within directly.

"Hey, sweetpea, can you hear me?"

In response, a dim, barely visible light emits from it. It barely lasts a second, but it's enough for the panic to increase within the man holding the charm.

He locks eyes with Adam.

There's a mutual understanding between them.

"Get whatever it is that you need. I'll keep her safe until then."

As he puts the chain around his neck, he cannot help but notice the warmth radiating off the little red rock.

He wraps a calloused hand around it, murmuring to it.

"You'll be alright, little lady. He's nice."
