Summary: Thanks to his ability of soothing children everywhere he goes, Wei Wuxian accidentally acquires a child during the Cloud Recesses study arc and it changes things in how he interacts with the Lan Sect.

Kay's comments: What a delightful story! I keep coming back to it again and again since the moment it finished. The story is set during the Cloud Recesses study arc, where little Lan Lihua escapes the children's creche and sneaks away to the public areas of the Cloud Recesses. She's already lost her parents and hasn't managed to bond with another adult yet, which, of course, worries her caretakers. Enter: Wei Wuxian. He encounters the child during the escape and quickly manages to calm her down. After this, he gets entrusted the care for this child as a new "punishment" and absolutely flourishes. Lan Wangji soon helps out as well and the two of them grow closer. Everything could've worked out perfectly, if only there weren't the Lan elders and the Jiang Sect - both of those groups work against Wangxian in this. I must say, Lan Lihua is such a cutie and I can totally understand why wangxian cannot help but fall in love with the child and I always love to see them taking care of children. It was also fun to see the Lan deal with Wei Wuxian in a different way than simply assign him more rules to copy. All in all, a very cute story!

The owner of the brothel told her to be careful as Clarke is known for not being easy to deal with, liked for her roughness and disliked by it as well, she is not particularly easy to get along with and many of the other girls despised her for getting better clients despite it all.

Their first time is rough as expected. But good if it isnt everything Lexa had been missing. For all of her hostility, Lexa can see why Clarke was as popular as she was in the brothel. She is good, she knows just where to touch Lexa, how deep and how hard to go (it impresses Lexa just how full she feels only to realize Clarke is not fully inside of her yet. She suspects she will manage to take it all in by the end of the month if this is what her bedwarmer will offer to her every night). It seems to be as cathartic for Clarke as it is for Lexa, there is hate burning in Clarke's eyes but as long as this is the only way she takes it out on Lexa, she will not chastise her for it. Blood - control over blood and bonds between others.

The Heir of Blood is one who is changed by Blood, or inspires change through Blood.

The opposite of an Heir of Blood is a Mage of Breath.

This is.. an interesting classpect. The Heir of Blood is someone who embodies their relationshops, literally. They are constantly influenced by the people around them, to the point where they might even become a doormat.

Heirs are stunted in their aspect development as they are typically surrounded by their aspect's opposite. Something that I went over in my Heir of Breath post is that those players are surrounded by Blood. For an Heir of Blood, they are surrounded by Breath their whole life. What this means is that the Heir of Blood is surrounded by freedom. Perhaps their guardians aren't around a lot, or they don't have many restrictions.

They don't have a good basis to judge social situations, and because they are easily swayed by others, this leads them into predicaments where they have a hard time asserting themselves and making a stance for themselves.

But at the same time, whether they realize it or not, they have a major influence over others as well. Passively, the Heir has a lot of sway over others in their environment. They don't have a lot to tie them down at first, so as they get close to others, they begin to passively pull strings and people will follow them.

The Heir of Blood is a great leader type, as they don't typically have any kind of malicious thoughts with their abilities, just missteps here and there. They, once coming into themselves, are able to lead through Blood. They are a great leader because while they can influence others through their aspect, they are also changed by their aspect. They are willing to listen to others.

I know I've talked to death the fact FJ has brought out the worst in fjord and he's basically back to ep 1 toxic masculinity but oh man has it brought out the worst in Jester too

Like I always thought it felt so unfulfilled to Jester's character arc and Laura's push against ppl infantilizing Jester because that's basically what fjord is doing in this relationshop

But also Jester has relearning all of her toxic awful character traits of not knowing boundaries, idealized fjord in such an unhealthy manner and also just straight up equating stuff to her story books and like we are back to square one on all of these characters

What's the point of watching for 3 years and 1100+ for them to be their absolute worst selves again and to ignore any development they had or to acknowledge any of this behaviour has bad and damaging

One misunderstanding about personality disorders I think people have is that they equate patterns of behaviour with fault and intent. That if it's a thing that the person is aware they are doing, that they are in full control of that behaviour and continuing to do it is deliberate unwillingness to stop. The truth is, those behaviours are usually coping mechanisms developed to survive an abusive situation, and they are more like an instinctual reaction to feelings of fear and danger than they are like conscious choices.

Of course, it's important for those of us with a PD to work on getting control over those patterns as they can be self destructive and/or harm relationshops. It's ALSO important for others to have compassion for how deeply tied into someone's ability to survive and deal with fear they are. They are not easy to overcome. They can take years of hard work to overcome, and many of us still struggle with them even then. We don’t want to have these issues, and if we could simply choose to not, we would.

Reall like the dynamic between Bella & Tom. I love Tomarry but often times get a bit concerned by slight grooming vibes I get because Tom is 16 and Harry is usually 12 or very under when they meet in those fics and Tpm has the upper hand in magical knwledge, age and charisma so he always ends up manipulative to an extent. You've wprked around this by changing it up. Bella has a loving parenta figure, all the money she could need, a bright future and a solid friends group. Tom only got knowledge-

-on his side and npthing else, so the power imbalance is shifted compared to other stories with a big age gap, and since Bella’s using a TT and getting twice the ampunt of experience than a normal person does on the regulsr she’d aging faster to catch up with him and will probably turn 18 befpre he does. You handled it really well so thanks for that compelling relationshop you’ve built up for them! It feels natural and realistic.

I actually considered something like that in the beginning because a lot of people who were going to read this wouldn’t be Tomarry fans and wouldn’t understand the ship very well. WBWL Fic fans came in droves and told me they weren’t sure how I was going to make it work but they had faith in my writing to pull it off, so they stayed.

I always intended for the Time Turner to make an appearance, just not as severely as it currently is. But that’s okay. 

I didn’t want it to be the same as canon. In canon it was a powerful and manipulative 16 year old orphan, working over a naive,12 year old orphan who just wanted a friend. In this, Bella is a different person than Harry is, and she’s had different experiences. So the power imbalance is in her corner. She doesn’t need Tom at all, which is something he had to come to terms with early on. She has friends, parental figures, a successful career, is financially stable, and not that interested in magic. Tom doesn’t have much to offer her, which was what put him at a disadvantage in this scenario and kept things even in a sense.

Now they’re both on relatively equal footing. She almost as old as him. He’s financially stable. They’re friends. They are equally ambitious and manipulative but not in bad ways.

It’s been fun developing their relationship to what it currently is. ^-^
