thinking about how death of the endless almost certainly knows by now that edwin payne and charles rowland run from her hand in hand each time she comes for a departing soul they've helped, and maybe she even lets them get a head start.

thinking about how both of them are so deserving of the peace her kind word and friendly face bring, but they are too terrified she'll separate them to ever receive the actual gift she could offer.

thinking about how it might just fix something in them both to just... sit in the office with death of the endless while she has a cuppa, or eats an apple, and tells her terrible corny jokes; and maybe it helps them realize that nothing would dare to ever part them in the afterlife or beyond— least of all death herself.

I also think it's interesting that Charles cites the Orpheus story, given its place in the Sandman universe! Maybe he doesn't remember how it goes, but it is a tragedy - one directly connected to, first Dream, but of course the rest of the family - Death, Despair, etc. and Desire most of all.

Despair, Desire, and Delirium are known to play games with mortals, more than the other four. Despair has chosen Edwin to be friends. And her twin, Desire?

Who better for Desire to play with than Charles?

His desire for life. His desire for people. For kissing, and touching, and doing good; to be perfect for his father, to stop bullies, to solve cases that help people.

Charles is full of Desire. And Edwin is, at least sometimes, full of Despair. How could the twins resist?

just want to talk about that moment in episode 7 when Edwin in Despair's realm, doesn't understand where he is and he said "i do not have my books…", so these words made me think that all those books about magic and other dimensions were needed for more than just their cases and investigations. it seems that Edwin began to study Hell in detail as soon as he escaped, looking for information about all its possible levels and corners that he had not been to, so that he would be ready in case demons found him and he had to escape again. because for the first time he had to spend decades full of constant torture to finally find a way back. but what hurts the most is the realization that he started learning magic and spells so that he wouldn't let anyone drag him into hell again. he hoped that with his little magic he probably might wouldn't be able to defeat the demons, but he could probably buy some time to escape before they found him again. poor boy, he's lived all these 30+ years in constant fear of Death who can make him and Charles apart, and the creatures from Hell who could come for him at any moment. and while Charles was trying to teach Edwin how to box so he could defend himself against other ghosts and whatever they might encounter in the course of their cases, Edwin was learning to defend himself against far worse and scarier things. and it makes me so sad

There's something there that has been scratching at my brain for weeks but I CAN'T figure out what it is. Does anyone have any thoughts on this scene?

Edwin in this AU is paler, his eyes duller, and dark bags under his eyes. His wardrobe is more simple, but plain and dreary. Like the color was drained out of him.

Charles in this AU is wilder as his spirit is part werewolf. One eye is permanently transformed and he wears his killer's tooth that was lodged into his body. His body is riddled with scars, but the most important ones are the claw marks on the left side of his face where the tip of that ear is gone and the bite mark on his neck. Hello this is the Good Omens Mascot and I am currently being kidnapped again. Into the Sandman fandom. Forcibly. Brutally. By several people. There will be bloodshed. There will be livestreams, probably, when I watch the show. My struggle is Endless and I can only Dream of an escape (I'm hilarious). But before I watch it, I'm legally obligated to make this post. Soooo... here goes, based on like two edits on YT I watched:

There is Dream/Morpheus, and he is a sad wet cat of a man.

He has a sister Delirium, and apparently I remind everyone of her. This concerns me. Also, she used to be Delight.

I am not sure what these people are but they are Endless.

Hob is also a sad wet cat of a man.

Dream has a raven. The raven dies.

Someone is blamed. But Dream says it's his own fault.

Dream's family thinks he's deserted them. Dream also thinks this is his own fault.

I'm started to think Dream maybe has some repressed trauma.

Despair and Desire look gay for each other. Or they're siblings. Idk. Despair was in Dead Boy Detectives. That I do know, because FUCK YEAH DBDA.
