Was wondering how a HayDes AU might work... Maybe Desmond gets sent to the past and while looking for Ratonhnhaké:ton he stumbles upon Haytham instead?
So @fanworldbuildingfun and I did have a HayDes idea that we posted in the comments of one of my fics but I cannot remember where XD
I do remember the broad strokes of what we talked about though and it went something like this:
Desmond is transported into the past before Ratonhnhaké:ton is born. To be more exact, Kaniehtí:io is like about to give birth or just gave birth.
Desmond got this idea that the best way to give Ratonhnhaké:ton the best kind of life is to tell Haytham about him.
This backed fire on him because he’s now stuck as the middle man of a it’s complicated it’s not a divorce since they never married but they have feelings for each other but this entire thing is fucking that up between Haytham and Kaniehtí:io.
Desmond starts becoming Haytham Kenway’s ‘plus one’ who acts as both his conscience and also the peanut gallery. I think he also inadvertently helped Shay patch things up with the Assassins or something? Main point is that Desmond is not a Templar and has no plans to be a Templar and he’s really there to fuck Templar shit up and Haytham doesn’t kill him for it for some reason.
By the end of the entire thing (or like middle of the plot), Desmond has become Haytham’s sugar baby sub (I can’t remember if we ever thought about how he would become that XD), Ratonhnhaké:ton’s third parent (stepmom) and he spoils him every chance he gets, Kaniehtí:io’s best friend who uses her BFF privileges to make Haytham’s life more annoying than it has to be and accidentally created a truce between the Assassin and Templars.
Desmond becomes what can be considered as the local councilor to Haytham (trying to make him understand that the Order’s way of doing things is not good), Kaniehtí:io (well, more like the one she complains about her ex to) and Shay (some crying might be involved).

which lost (2004) characters would go see Barbie vs. Oppenheimer:
Jack: Oppenheimer. He has a bit of a problem with his masculinity (daddy issues) so he low key doesn’t wanna watch a movie for little girls (he’ll probably watch it once it’s not in theatres).
Sawyer: Barbie. He’s not sorry or embarrassed. He’s excited.
Kate: Oppenheimer. She has a thing for violence. Also just kinda wants to piss Sawyer off by refusing to watch “a movie for little girls”
Sun: Barbie, she low key wanted to see Oppenheimer but Jin really wanted to see Barbie so she caved.
Jin: Barbie. Refer above. He spent 20 full minutes convincing Sun it would be the film to bring back cinema. Big Kenergy.
Claire: Barbie. Of course she would see Barbie, she has little interest in Oppenheimer and will probably never watch it.
Hurley: Barbie. He goes to see it with Sawyer. The two of them get a little too high and the whole thing will be slightly traumatizing.
Sayid: Oppenheimer. He has a slightly unnerving interest in the history behind the film. Barbie would probably be better for his mental health, but only slightly.
Juliet: Oppenheimer. She goes to see it with Kate after making fun of Sawyer. She’s one of the only ones who actually knows the history behind the movie.
Ben: Barbie. He knows it will most likely be more terrifying than Oppenheimer. He’s prepared, and yes, that is a threat.
Desmond: Barbie. He has no interest in anything violent anymore, he probably thought it was going to be a kids movie tbh.
Shannon: Barbie. She has no idea what she’s getting into. She just wants to watch a Barbie movie. She should stick to the animated ones.

Just finished season two of LOST and husband has yet to figure out that Henry is Ben. I’m not sure if I’m glad of this or disappointed in this.
He hasn’t been complaining as much about the show, though. That’s a win. And he seems to enjoy Desmond, though he thinks he’s dead after using the fail safe. Just wait until the Island starts trying to kill Charlie…
I appreciate Jin even more this go around. Like, I think I love him. I love all of these idiots with daddy issues. And I’m glad to know that even as I’ve matured in my tastes for men (Sawyer used to be my go-to), at the very least, I still love my manipulative bastard and his big blue eyes
Side note, hubby is taking waaaaay too long to read my fic and I’m genuinely thinking about going ahead and starting to post it

sorry for the delay, art happened
Four-Fanged Offense: Linus edition!
Tumblr media
no Pent. he's busy with travel time espionage stuff
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eliwood learning about borders as social constructions like
(from Lloyd's version, but I like it and it's my playthrough. so)
Tumblr media
Legault screentime? yes give it to me
a wild Nino appears! she's running messages for Sonia, but wants to do something fun with the brothers once they're off work. she leaves, and Lloyd says she's a nice girl. Linus agrees and says it's hard to believe that Sonia's her mother. haha about that
they notice Eliwood and co., and Lloyd goes off to get reinforcements, telling Linus to not do anything stupid. Linus waits until he leaves and tells henchguy Igor that they're attacking. he says to try to keep the fighting out of the villages
note: bring Dart to recruit Geitz
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
oh, Heath. my homesick little murder machine. I love you. we are getting that B with Kent immediately
Geitz's recruitment is Dart recognizing him and asking him what he's doing. Geitz has daddy issues and says he's wandering before asking Dart if he can join. Dart says OK. prepromote Berserker acquired!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
nice little worldbuildy details about the Black Fang
cutscene time! Nino complains that she wants to be fighting evildoers. Jaffar rolls up to the house late. Nino says this is weird, and he says that something delayed him. Nino is shocked that he's super bleeding everywhere, but he asks for the next mission and then collapses. oops
(you can actually visit the house. Nino asks whoever visits to keep their voice down. it's implied they ask about the Black Fang, because she denies knowing about them and yells at them to get out)
Tumblr media
this guy wears Black Fang clothes, but is "a loyal citizen of Pherae". also he gives you a Silence staff. cool, thanks man
Tumblr media
Murdock cameo!
first instance of the Black Fang boss theme, Softly with Grace. more on that naming later
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...you've met Sonia, dude. if she had any more red flags she'd be marching in a Soviet parade. heck, she probably does in her free time
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
normal battle dialogue. interesting stuff
... and he dies! shouldn't have existed around Heath and equipped a sword, my dude. this is all your fault
supports obtained:
Lucius + Raven B + A
Eliwood + Ninian A
Erk + Priscilla C
Linus takes Eliwood hostage to do one last murder, which is bad because that's a game over.
Tumblr media
honestly a pretty cool moment. I really like it!
a lot of conventionally "badass" guys snap off a pithy one-liner or are otherwise defiant when facing certain death, but Eliwood makes a pretty good case for quiet confidence
anyway! he says that he noticed that the mooks tried to keep the battle out of the village and asks why they're fighting, since they're both good people
Tumblr media Tumblr media
note: when Linus lets him go, Eliwood says "What?!" implying he wasn't expecting to be released. man was totally ready to die for his friends and didn't even blink. moments like that are why I like him so much. he's not as loud as Hector, but I'd argue that he's just as brave
Linus backs off, sensing that Weird Stuff is happening, and resolves to go ask Brendan about it
(also in this chapter: Nino and Jaffar! he asks her why she didn't follow "the law of the Fang" [read: kill the wounded and skedaddle]. notice the quotes. anyway he starts bleeding again and she asks him not to die.)
unfortunately for Linus, Limstella teleports in and kills him. rip dude, I like your chapter better than Lloyd's
Tumblr media Tumblr media
wow that got dark immediately. suicide is not the answer (also murder is not the answer)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
meanwhile, in Bern, the happy royal couple. Hellene takes a couple shots at Desmond for putting her and Zephiel outside the palace and shacking up with some lady. though she's mean to Guinevere :(
title drop! this game's Fire Emblem is a big ol' gem Bern has that's necessary for the coming-of-age ceremony. so that's a problem. Hellene says it's his fault and asks why he sucks so much
Tumblr media
Desmond peaked in high school, prove me wrong
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the detail of her moving to the right is a nice touch!
Tumblr media
Louise girlbossing for the greater good
Tumblr media
a royally sponsored fetch quest. interesting
next time: yet another support episode!

my favorite 10:
All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues (1x11)
These aren't in a ranked order, so starting off with season one, (trying to avoid doing season finales because those feel like another league). This was the episode my love for Jack solidified, his relationship with Christian here isn't the worst it's ever been, but it's devastating enough. Jack's heart is pulled in two directions: his responsibility to his patient, and his love for his father. Ultimately, despite his father's manipulation, the hidden pregnancy is revealed and Jack does the right thing. His father was drunk, and he messed up. His mistake killed the patient. Jack is relentless in this episode, he does not believe Claire (which he blames himself for later when she is taken by Ethan), and it parallels down to pregnant Claire and the pregnant patient, who Jack feels he had also let down. Jack refuses Kate's pleading to stop and eventually resuscitates Charlie.
Outlaws (1x16)
Okay, the opening of this one is just haunting and devastating, from my first watch to now this one has stuck with me the most. The shot of his Dad's feet as he shoots himself is something I will never get over. Despite the horrific cold open, I love how lighthearted the rest of the Island...seems. Until we get another flashback that brings me back down to the "Oh! this is devastating!" Sawyer's obsession, his very own Sawyer, and here's his chance to move on, to find peace. Also, Christian being the one to push Sawyer into this is just the cherry on top of the sundae of tears this show is. Christian gives him advice he thinks will absolve Sawyer, something he wants to do for himself and his relationship with Jack, and it ends up making everything worse. Ironic, isn't it? He fucks up and kills the wrong man. A man, who as far as we can tell (besides a simple ? debt), was not a bad person. His last words to Sawyer are, "It'll come back around." And suddenly the boar plotline is less funny and more, jesus christ Sawyer thinks this guy came back as a boar on the Island to torment him. Sawyer letting to boar go at the end, because it's "just a boar," is without a doubt one of my favorite moments.
Two For the Road (2x20)
Honestly, where would we be without this episode? JAW DROPPING ENDING. It took me forever to warm up to Ana Lucia, especially after...you know :/ And of course, right when I was starting to really enjoy her, death comes to the door. This one just hurts, I love Michael and his torment over losing Walt was my favorite plot point in S2 especially as we see the terrors of The Others. It's hard for me not to feel bad for him, for Ana-Lucia, and then wait what's tha— Libby? Oh f— Just devastating all around, and therefore is in my top 10 favorite episodes. Also because the jaw-dropping reaction everyone has to it is endlessly entertaining.
Tricia Tanaka is Dead (3x10)
Pretty sure everyone loves this one. Everything about it is perfect, and it is a much-needed break from sadness. Enough said!
The Constant (4x05)
The highest rated episode of Lost for a reason. The cuts between Desmond and Penny talking is THE DEFINITION OF ROMANCE. Ugly crying.
Meet Kevin Johnson (4x08)
I don't know if many people love this episode like I do but to me, it's a really sad (shocker... a Michael episode is sad...) and interesting character delve into Michael who we haven't seen since the double-murder and his takeoff with Walt. Michael's suicide attempts, his loss of contact with Walt, his nightmares/visions of Libby, and his guilt reaches an all-time high. We also finally get more insight on the crew and the new cast additions of S4 which we will have until the end of the show. I love Michael's reaction to Keamy, his attempt with the bomb, and that "Not yet" note that makes me evil grin and die inside. Knowing what happens later, and how Michael's need for redemption is never technically wrapped out (in the show anyway) this episode makes everything worse. Yay!
The Variable (5x14)
Death. You hate to see it. Daniel is such an incredible addition to the show, and to finally see more of his life was fantastic. It is also incredibly cruel and leaves you with that sinking feeling in your stomach when you see his final moments. His expression as he looks up at his mother's younger image, her gun's bullet in his body. She always knew this was going to happen. She always knew, and she sent him anyway. What the fuck.
LAX (6x1-2)
I'm a huge fan of alternate timelines, even though this technically isn't one, I love seeing what might have transpired if the plane landed. Because let's be honest, their lives are so miserable, how much worse could it get? Christian's body is missing, as we might remember, and the turnout of it feels worse because this time Jack really is going to his funeral. The one he's supposed to have. Boone's "I'm sticking with you," OH GOD. Also, the shot of everyone leaving the plane is just....AHHHHHH. The parallels between the smiles between Jack and Locke are sad. Jack and Locke are my favorite dynamic and the scene about Christian's body is GUT-WRENCHING. Jack gives him a business card, and I curl up into a ball and die.
Ab Aeterno (6x09)
RICHARD EPISODE?! say less, I'm there. Once again, my god everyone here is so fucked up and miserable. Another beautiful romance down the drain. Richard begging for forgiveness and being denied is so draining to watch. He's then sold into slavery, and the scenes on the Black rock are fucking scary. He's spared, or is he? The dunking scene with Jacob is a thrill, "Still think you're dead? why should I stop?" / "Because I want to live."
The Candidate (6x14)
Not sure if I even want this here. Because it is genuinely the most depressed I have ever felt prior to The End (6x18), but it is also just a perfect episode because of this pain. I was thinking about how Sawyer's first conflict scene with Sayid he makes an inarguably racist remark about Sayid being a suicide bomber. And this is the exact way Sayid dies. Sawyer's lack of faith or trust in Jack, who has recently taken Locke's mantle of being the Man of faith, is what gives us this horrific ending. The worst part of this is the conflicting feelings because you understand why Sawyer lost his faith in Jack, but you also just hold out hope that they'll get through this. Then we lose Sayid, and it's so fast you barely even register it, just the clank of his feet as he runs as far away from the people he cares about and blows up. Kate's already shot, and Sawyer gets a head injury, now Sun's trapped, and everything that could possibly go wrong has gone wrong. All of it just happens SO FAST that you feel sick. I have no doubts that they all would have stayed and died together trying to help Sun if Jin hadn't urged otherwise. Jin tells her he will never leave her again and it's true, he never does. Not until he's technically gone, their corpses let go of each other, and he floats away with the water. It's the last shot we see of them, it's our goodbye to them just as much as it is their goodbye to each other. I need a fucking brick to bash my own head in. We get to the surface and everyone is just hunched over, sobbing and reeling with grief. Jack walks off and the despair has never felt worse than it does right here, under the moon and stars as debris from the sub floats up and onto the shore. Also, an argument I'd like to make, is that no way Jin would have left Sun, not even for their daughter he never got to meet. I highly doubt he would have been able to parent her at all, with the reminder that he left the love of his life to drown alone. That would just never happen.
Anyway, these are my top 10 favorites as of now. It's impossible to really pick though if I'm being honest. My top 10 least favorite is difficult too, because I agree that there are no 'bad' episodes of Lost. And there are maybe 4-5 episodes I just don't enjoy that much...cough, you know at least one.
what are your guy's top 10 episodes of lost, favorite 10 and least favorite 10?

After the Solar Flare Desmond lives, gets sent into the past but he opens a restaurant because for some reason it's really popular in whatever time he's in so he just expands and before he knows it, he's written down in history as the most successful restaurant owner (could be whatever ship, could be harem)
Harem it is!
So, for this idea, let’s set up the restaurant first.
Let’s say that, after the Solar Flare, Desmond is in the Gray with Clay who got there because a digital copy of him was sorta encoded into Desmond (“What were you planning to do? Slowly hijack my body?” “I was thinking of transferring my copy into your sperm and getting reborn as your child.” “That’s… that sounds weird?” “Really? Ancient aliens created mankind, you’re the chosen one and messiah and martyr all in one by said ancient aliens, we have technology that can read genetic memories in our DNA so we can relive our ancestors’ lives AND my plan is what makes you go ‘sounds weird’? Come on, Seventeen.” “I didn’t say it was the only weird thing I’ve ever heard!”)
So Desmond and Clay are getting along swimmingly then there’s a pop and Layla’s there. Clay just go “Ah, another dead person ‘rewarded’ by the Isus, come, join us.” and Layla’s just “???” because last she remembered, she gave up her life to save the world and Desmond just goes “Oh, a fellow martyr! Welcome, welcome!”
So they’re just chilling in the endless void called the Gray (and I Spy has been banned since the only thing they can actually ‘spy’ is each other and they got creative with their questions which includes “Is it someone who has the hots for his ancestors?” “Yes.” “That doesn’t help. Both me and Clay have hots for our ancestors!” “I blame our untreated daddy issues.” “Oh my god.”) until Minerva appeared and tells Desmond that she was able to screw with the Calculations before she died. She gives Desmond some kind of ball (that looks like a stone version of the Apple) and tells him that it contains the power to create a pocket dimension, very small, perhaps just a one-story, maybe two-story building, but it should be enough to connect it to the Calculations itself for a brief moment to stabilize it.
Minerva’s idea is that Desmond could use the pocket dimension to exist in the world, at any point in time, and interact with people (but only in that pocket dimension… “Like a portable Gray?” “……… Yes… I supposed you would be correct in that, Innkeeper.” “Did you… did you just literally translate my last name???”)
Minerva tells Desmond to think of a building that the pocket dimension can take the form in and her calling Clay ‘innkeeper’ reminded Desmond of how he wanted to own a restaurant. How, before he landed a job in Bad Weather, he actually helped out in the kitchen of a few diners, sometimes just washing the dishes, other times, cutting ingredients up when things get too busy, and sometimes, a kind cook/owner would teach him an easy dish or two that he can cook if things get super hectic. Then he remembers how the warmest memories he had of his childhood were helping his mother cook when she had the time to do such ‘mundane’ things.
So everyone is surprised when the pocket dimension looks like a restaurant. Layla was expecting him to create a bureau or something similar. Clay expected him to recreate Bad Weather. Minerva just stares at him as she says, “So this is your choice. Very well.”
They checked the restaurant and there was a second floor with bedrooms (with separate bathrooms) that seemed to already been ‘furnished’ to their liking… even Minerva’s. It’s kinda creepy because Layla’s room looks like a fusion of her childhood bedroom and her apartment’s bedroom. Clay guessed that the pocket dimension heard Desmond’s idea of ‘everyone should have their own rooms’ and used their memories to create it.
Strangely enough… there are also a lot of locked rooms that they can’t open. Minerva guessed they are meant to house either ‘guests’ or future ‘employees’. The 2nd floor defies logic as it seemed to be bigger than the first floor but Minerva insists that it would look ‘normal’ on the outside. (“So what you’re saying is it’s bigger-” “No.” “What?” “No. We are not making that reference. Shush.” “Oh, come on!”)
Okay, so Minerva was taking a wild guess here because she didn’t test out the pocket dimension (“Why not?” “I died before I could.” “… yeah, okay, that sounds like a legit reason.”) but she believed that the pocket dimension took Desmond’s desires and rolled it all up into one thing which was this restaurant-in-the-first-floor/living-quarters-in-the-second-floor. This meant that they were meant to ‘get’ more people.
Clay and Desmond turned to stare at each other because, yeah, they already have an idea of who some of those people are.
When they check the restaurant, Desmond is super excited because the pantry is fully stocked with sooooo many things that he wanted to ‘play with’ and Minerva noticed that the perishables were placed in some kind of device that looked very similar to the Isus’ stasis pods. This meant that anything they put there would remain in the state they were when they put it in until they take it out then time will resume for them normally (no sudden aging though so if they plan to age meat, they gotta do it the old fashion way).
Layla is the one who noticed the ‘vending machine’ looking thing with an entire touchscreen just covering the front of it next to the pantry and she tried using it, eyes going wild when she realized what the touchscreen was showing.
It was some kind of online shopping app but the ‘price’ was showing something called “Points” instead. There was some kind of trashcan-like thing attached to it and Clay just dumped a bag of green peas from the pantry into it (“Clay!” “What? No one likes frozen green peas! It’s a stasis pod, WHY would it even have frozen green peas?!”) and the app gave them 3 points for the green peas. Out of curiosity, Layla dropped the 20 dollars she was hiding in her boot and it gave them “2000 points”. They would need to experiment some more but it seemed like actual currency gives them more points than items (or maybe the app just doesn’t like frozen green peas).
Then they saw another touchscreen in a room that looked to be some kind of meeting room and it looked like… a map? No. It was like one of those big screens in meeting rooms and… it was showing a list of years.
Each year was grayed out and next to it were points.
Desmond’s eyes widened as he saw the first year he recognized.
1191 was grayed out and it had “200,711,170,000 points” next to it. He tried to click it and it gives an error of “You have insufficient points to travel to this year. Please add more funds.”
And then Layla went “Oh, oh, oh! 431 BC! It’s not grayed out!” and Desmond clicked it instead.
It then gave them locations. All of the locations were grayed out with Athens needing “10,000 points” and Lakonia needing “30,000 points”. There was only one location that wasn’t grayed out: Megaris. When they clicked that, the only option it gave them was an unlocked “Magara”.
“It seems the pocket dimension is giving this to you as a ‘freebie’.” “Or a tutorial run.”
They tried giving more items from the pantry to the ‘trashcan’ but it only gives them measly ‘1~5 points’ so, yeah, Desmond wasn’t unlocking 1191 anytime soon. It was even the cheapest of the three years Desmond wanted to pick too!
Left with no choice (and 2 coins from Minerva did give them ‘20,000 points’ total), they decided to open a restaurant in the only place they can travel to and get enough money to unlock the other years.
(Oh god. I unintentionally created an isekai OP system for them…)
You know… I said first but, goddamn, that took a while.
Anyway…
Unorganized Note Related to the Restaurant:
Desmond is their main chef with Clay being his sous chef/kitchen lackey, mainly because Desmond did have a bit of experience with cooking (he has the most experience among the four of them anyway) and Clay used to part-time for diners too during his college years.
Layla’s specialty is college-approved cup noodles. She is only allowed to help cut stuff up and stir things until they’re sure she can handle more.
Minerva burned water. Her defense of “I never considered a need to cook” was not accepted (together with the implication that she had human slaves to do it for her) and she has been barred from the kitchen.
This means Minerva is their waitress and Layla tried to get her to smile but she just stares at her. Because of this, Layla has been conscripted to manage the front end and make sure Minerva doesn’t insult anyone by mistake.
The pantry needs to be restocked if they were going to use it, of course, so their points will also be used to make sure they have the food they can serve and sell.
The touchscreen in the kitchen gives a list of food that they can check (thankfully no greyed-out ones). Most of them have warnings of “Desmond Miles is not experienced enough to make this yet. There is a high chance of failure. Will you still risk it?” and “Necessary support not yet acquired. Please try again once necessary support is available.”. All those that give warnings have a red triangle for the ones that have a high chance of failure on the left side of the recipe name and a red x mark for those that need ‘support’ on the same left side. Some even have both x and triangle.
QOL for the kitchen touchscreen: it automatically takes items from the pantry and it appears on some kind of dumbwaiter-like hole below the touchscreen. It will also give messages of ingredients that need to be bought first and poking ‘buy’ also sends those newly bought ingredients to the hole. Very convenient. (like someone who had been so annoyed about having to go thru so many menus to find information on the ingredients necessary for their synthesizing had developed this feature)
They realized what support means when Clay clicked on “Pomidorówka” because he remembered making that with his grandmother. A message of “Support member: Clay Kaczmarek is necessary for this dish for now. Continue?” popped up and they poked ‘yes’ and Clay recognized the recipe as the exact recipe that his grandmother taught her. So… apparently, the necessary support is someone who would know the recipe more than Desmond.
Because there are a lot of recipes, they decide to have a revolving menu instead. If Desmond likes the customer enough, he might be willing to take off-the-menu requests.
Unorganized Notes for the timeline and stuff:
Technically, the restaurant can time-hop to any year they have unlocked at any time (unlocking is a one-time payment, I’m not that evil). It seems that the nearer they are to 2012, the more points they would need.
The restaurant would change the front-end design to fit what is ‘possible’ during that time period. The backend (kitchen + meeting room + 2nd floor) remains the same with the exception of cutleries and utensils that their customers would use.
Desmond is the only person who can leave the pocket dimension BUT all the touchscreens are unavailable if he’s not in the pocket dimension and shows a time limit of 1 hour (which can be ‘charged’ by expending points, 1,000 points = 1 minute). The second floor is also inaccessible when Desmond leaves and anyone on the second floor is teleported to the meeting room the moment Desmond steps out.
It seems that actual currency (regardless of the year) will always give x100 amount of points. (ex: 50 florins will give 5,000 points). Ingredients and other items from the online shopping app seemed to be forever 50% of its original real-life price (by their estimate). There’s also sales and flashsales. The app’s sales have weird titles like “Not Gonna Make A Racist Joke Sale” (no that’s really the name of the sale) for sales on ingredients not normally available in the US and “I Can’t Believe It’s Butter Sale” for all kinds of butter and products with butter or made from butter. Their favorite is “I Don’t Get Paid To Do This So I Wanna Play A Game” sale where everything has a 70%-90% discount but the caveat is that the sale only last for 15 minutes from the moment they tapped ‘Let’s Play!’ from the message.
Their restaurant would become ‘legendary’ because of the good food that might be strange or unfamiliar to a lot of people but the taste is definitely to die for (thank you, modern convenience).
Time flows as normal when they’re in a specific timeline but anyone in the pocket dimension doesn’t seem to age.
Minerva believes that there is some kind of Apple-like mind manipulation at play in the pocket dimension. It’s nothing big, just a simple “this is a normal restaurant with normal-looking employees” and maybe a bit of “you will not think anything is weird here.”.
Desmond would sometimes go to the front when it’s slow or Clay tells him to take a break and that Clay can handle things on his own for a while. That’s usually when he interacts with the customers.
While they can only ‘take’ a few as employees, their actions in the timeline do change things… a bit. Maybe some who were meant to die don’t, maybe they get a different ending… etc.
Unorganized Notes for the Layla Trilogy:
Kassandra does notice that something is weird about the restaurant but Layla seems friendly enough so she keeps coming back (maybe even starts to flirt with Layla?).
Kassandra finally sees that something is weird about the restaurant after she returns from Atlantis. This gives a message of “Kassandra’s room has been unlocked” in all the touchscreens. They bring Kassandra to the second floor and she opens the door. The room looks like a mix of her bedroom when she was a child, when she was in Kephallonia, and the home she had in Ionian Watch. On the bed was a box which she picked up. Inside is a note that says “If you drink this, you will become part of this dimension. A copy will be created to ensure that your remaining tasks as dictated by the Calculations will be fulfilled and keep the timeline stable. Warning: becoming a denizen of this dimension will mean you will be unable to leave.” and inside the box is a small bottle with an unknown liquid inside.
Considering Kassandra is effectively an immortal in canon so it's up to you if she drinks it or she's like the regular who pops in and out regardless of when the restaurant is at the moment.
The ‘cheapest’ year around Bayek’s time is 48 BCE (20,171,027,000) - Alexandria (20,000) - It is also the cheapest year in general.
Bayek becomes a regular because they buy the meat he takes from his kills for a good price, especially if it’s fresh, and also give him a discount on the food. (They don’t really need the meat but Layla insisted they try to find ways to help Bayek and this was their… ‘compromise’)
Eivor’s cheapest year is 873 (20,201,110,000) - Ravensthorpe (20,000). Strangely enough, all the people in Ravensthorpe seem to believe that they had just opened up shop. Randvi even tells Eivor that they were constructing the restaurant while Eivor was away building an alliance. Hytham vouched for them and tells Eivor they are allies of the Hidden Ones. (More mind-bending stuff from the restaurant apparently)
Minerva and Eivor… may have a thing? Minerva knows Eivor is Odin’s Sage and she remembers how Odin slept with her and used her but, at the same time, the attraction is there.
Any feasts and such are now done in the restaurant and Eivor and Randvi pay for ‘catering’.
Mandatory ‘employees’: Bayek and Eivor
Possible mandatory ‘employee’: Kassandra
Potential optional ‘employees’: Hytham - 890 (20,201,110,000), Aya - 30 BCE (20,171,027,000), Alexios (Deimos) - 422 BCE (20,181,002,000)
Unorganized Notes for the Desmond Saga:
Alright, here comes the main harem (I mean, you can totally add anyone to the harem but these are the big three that are mandatory XD)
The cheapest location in 1191 is Jerusalem for 100,000 points (“What the fuck.” “I think the pocket dimension knows what’s in ‘high demand’.”) and Desmond left to check things out (get a feel on when in 1191 they were in) and took around 1 hour and 20 minutes (costing them an additional 20,000 points).
He came back with a barely hanging in there Kadar and the touchscreens all pinged a “Kadar Al-Sayf’s room has been unlocked” and Desmond realized what the pocket dimension was trying to do. He gets Kadar to his room and opened the box, revealing a small bottle with a note attached to it that says “If Kadar Al-Sayf drinks this, he will become part of this dimension. As his part of the Calculations have already been completed, no replica will be made however, as a denizen of this dimension, Kadar Al-Sayf cannot leave this pocket dimension.”
Desmond asks Kadar if he wants to live no matter what and Kadar nods. Kadar is saved but he’s stuck in the restaurant now. He doesn’t seem to mind and admits that he became an Assassin because it’s what was expected of him. He likes cooking and helping Desmond. Kadar is a possible harem candidate but not mandatory.
Kadar also unlocks a few of the recipes and he’s the reason why Desmond realized that some of the ‘necessary supports’ have “????” in the recipe. One of them was noted as: “???? Kadar Al-Sayf ????” and Kadar mentioned how his brother could make that specific food better which makes Desmond believe that the “????” are other possible supports and it’s a hierarchy of who can make it best (from best to worst(?)/meh(?))
Kadar waits until an informant he trusts goes to the restaurant and asks the informant to tell Malik that he’s here but to not report it to anyone else and Malik visits. Kadar lies to Malik, saying that he is hiding in the kitchens so Al Mualim wouldn’t know he’s alive… because he doesn’t want to be an Assassin. This does drive a wedge between the brothers but Malik keeps quiet about Kadar’s survival and becomes a regular.
Altaïr visits the restaurant because Malik wasn’t in the bureau and he’s annoyed. Minerva and Altaïr starts glaring at each other because Altaïr is rude and Minerva is more rude so Desmond goes out to take care of Altaïr’s table while Malik is in the private tables (usually used for big party) so he can talk to Kadar and he wants Altaïr to wait… for a while.
Once it becomes clear that Malik was planning to make Altaïr for quite a while, Desmond just gives up and sits with Altaïr and talks to him (“Flirt with him.” “It’s not flirting.” “Uh-huh, Layla…” “Definitely flirting.” “Eivor.” “The stars in your eyes do not lie, Desmond.” “Minerva.” “Yes.” “Any objection from the peanut gallery? No? In conclusion: flirting!”)
After that, Altaïr becomes a regular, even going to Jerusalem on the way to his next mission even if it’s… not really on the way.
Altaïr is the first person to receive a takeout box (“I think they call that a bento box of love.” “No, it’s not.” “Desmond… you ordered the goddamn bento box from the app. It's even one of those expensive ones that keeps the food warm for hours.” “It was on sale.” “Uh-huh. You have anything to say, Kadar? You helped him make that bento box.” “It’s not a bent-” “I made the heart-shaped carrots!” “KADAR!” “I got your back, Desmond! ( ´ ▽ ` )b” “Oh my god.”)
Anyway, uuuhhh… Altaïr and Desmond start a relationship and Altaïr’s room is unlocked after Al Mualim’s death and he visits the restaurant on his way to Acre (it’s… it’s not the optimal route to take, Altaïr.) to talk to Desmond because the Apple showed him a vision of Desmond. Altaïr drinks it without hesitation and his copy is created in the room itself. It asks for Altaïr’s Apple and he gives it to the copy. They watch as the copy leaves the restaurant then… decide that the restaurant is closed for the day since their head chef was ‘busy’ celebrating.
Depending on which Ezio you’ll like to add to the restaurant/harem, the cheapest year would be AC2!Ezio: 1476 (200,911,170,000) - Monteriggioni for 100,000 points, ACB!Ezio: 1503 (201,011,160,000) - Rome (Tiber Island) for 100,000 points, ACR!Ezio: 1511 (201,111,150,000) - Constantinople (Galata District) for 100,000 points.
If you choose AC2!Ezio: he and Desmond start talking whenever he visits. Once he sees Minerva’s message, he recognized her as the quiet waitress Minerva and that’s when he’ll learn the truth from Desmond and the others. That’s also when he learned that the guy he had been flirting with was in a relationship with the legendary Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad.
If it wasn’t AC2!Ezio, Ezio would learn of Desmond early on because he recognized Minerva. Minerva likes to call him ‘prophet’ too so the jig is up before it could even begin. Ezio is a bit wary at first but he keeps coming back anyway because he has questions. Also… he just likes talking to Desmond. He’s a regular and knows about Altaïr but also knows that Altaïr seems okay with him flirting with Desmond. He and Desmond start a relationship around the midway point of ACB/ACR and is the first non-’employee’ to ever visit the second floor. (Not counting Kadar)
His room unlocks after (AC2) recovering the Apple and returning to Monteriggioni, (ACB) letting gravity take care of Cesare, and (ACR) visiting the library underneath Masyaf seeing the bones of Altaïr’s replica.
The cheapest year for Ratonhnhaké:ton is 1776 (201,210,300,000) - Davenport (100,000). Like Ravensthorpe, the people of the homestead seemed to believe that they helped build the restaurant.
Ratonhnhaké:ton becomes a regular and visits every time he returned to the homestead. As if to counter the lack of customers/regulars, the sales they get in this time period have a x1000 modifier instead. (“Where was this in Ravensthorpe, huh?!” “Stop shouting at the touchscreen. Randvi and Eivor kept us afloat and profiting, remember? Achilles can’t do that here.”)
Desmond tried to save Haytham but was unable to because of the limitations.
Ratonhnhaké:ton’s door unlocks when he gets the Apple from Washington and he joins the restaurant after trying to look for his village for three more years.
Ratonhnhaké:ton only starts a relationship with Desmond after he joins the restaurant.
Mandatory ‘employees’: Kadar, Altaïr (mandatory harem member), Ezio (mandatory harem member) and Ratonhnhaké:ton (mandatory harem member)
Potential optional ‘employees’: Adha - 1190 (200,802,050,000), Malik Al-Sayf - 1226 (200,711,170,000), Maria Thorpe - 1228 (200,711,170,000), Darim Ibn-La'Ahad - 1260 (201,111,150,000), Sef Ibn-La'Ahad - 1226 (201,111,150,000), Federico Auditore - 1476 (200,911,170,000), Yusuf Tazim - 1512 (201,111,150,000), Aveline de Grandpré - 1777 (201,210,300,000)
Hey, teecup, why are there a lot of AC1 characters??? Ah, it’s not that there are a lot of AC1 characters, it’s that there are a lot of Ibn-La'Ahad characters. I wonder why.
Unorganized Notes for the Unnamed MC Saga:
Alright, all mandatory employees here are possible harem candidates but not mandatory harem members. (actually, the same can be said for anyone that can become an employee of the time-hopping pocket dimension, especially Haytham and Edward)
Speaking of Edward Kenway! The cheapest is 1717 (201,310,290,000) - Nassau (100,000) and the restaurant sorta takes over the already established tavern there. Anne Bonny seemed to believe that she works there from 8 to 5 as a waitress and everyone just rolls with it. Especially since she calls Minerva ‘Minnie’.
Edward and the rest of his pirate ‘friends’ are regulars. Edward starts getting close to Ratonhnhaké:ton who keeps quiet about their blood relation.
They actually time-travel to 1725 (201,310,290,000) - London (100,000) and Edward is happy to see them and seemed to believe that they have opened shop in London so they stay for a while… saving up for their next time-hop. During that time, Edward and his family became regulars and young Haytham likes following Ratonhnhaké:ton around. Edward’s room finally opens on December 3, 1735 and Ratonhnhaké:ton tells him the importance of the date. If he returns home, he will die, Jennifer will be sold off and Haytham will become a Templar.
Edward refuses to drink the bottle and leaves the restaurant. Ratonhnhaké:ton knew he would pick that choice and he accepts it… then notice that the box was empty. Edward had taken the bottle.
Edward manages to get Jennifer to safety but he’s too wounded to do anything else. Desmond gets there in time to help Edward drink the bottle, hoping that it would do something. It didn’t and Edward dies in his arms instead.
When he returns to the restaurant, he learns that Edward appeared in his room and his last memory was Desmond helping him drink the bottle which meant that the Edward Desmond saw died was his replica.
They stayed to make sure Jennifer was safe (who gets taken in by the Brotherhood and smuggled out of London while Tessa and Haytham Kenway are taken by Birch to an unknown location) before Edward requests that they try to save Haytham.
Minerva warns that they cannot make any big waves. This pocket dimension wasn’t meant to change what will come to pass. It was always meant to give Desmond a reward that he desires. Desmond argues that what he desires most is to save as many people as he can so he agrees to Edward’s request.
The possible year they thought of is 1756 (201,411,111,000) - New York (100,000). One of their regulars is Shay Cormac and Ratonhnhaké:ton knows him although they seem to have to wait for a bit for Shay Cormac to meet Haytham Kenway. They asked Shay to give a message to Haytham.
So Shay kinda becomes… a tagalong to the entire Kenway drama and learns about the ‘magic’ of the restaurant after Edward shows up and Haytham recognized him as his long dead father.
I have no idea if Shay and Haytham should have rooms. It’ll be a bit awkward if they do. If they do get rooms, Haytham’s room will unlock the day he is about to meet Ratonhnhaké:ton for the first time while Shay’s door unlocks after Haytham’s death and he returns to New York because he assumed the restaurant was still there (it was… but that’s because they need more funds before they can time-hop again).
They time-hop to Paris (100,000) in 1789 (201,411,110,000) because… uuuhh… someone bought Les Mis in the app and now a few of them wants to know just how accurate Les Mis is? IDK, man, it’s getting late and I want to finish this before I go sleep. Future!me will think of a nicer reason. Or you know, keep that reason ‘cause my tired mind thinks it’s funny.
Okay, so… for this one, it would be fun if the restaurant takes over Café Théâtre and Arno’s headquarters is transferred next door. Technically, Arno would become their ‘landlord’ (“Oh god, we’re renting now???” “Capitalism.” “That is not a reason!”)
Ezio takes Arno as his ‘budding investor’ student. Clay gets roped in because Ezio believed that he and Clay should have family quality time. Arno thinks they’re cousins.
Arno’s room opens after he returns to Paris after the Dead Kings DLC (they can also time-hop to Saint-Denis in 1794 for 300,000 + 201,501,150,000 points. Their call.)
They go to London (100,000) in 1868 (201,510,230,000) because Edward wanted to check on what happened to the Kenway mansion, I guess? Anyway, because they saved Jennifer, her descendant is now the mentor of the London Assassins but the Kenway mansion has been abandoned because… well… Templars.
It doesn’t really change Syndicate’s plot all that much. Only that Jayadeep is reporting to the mentor who had specifically told him not to do anything because Starrick has dug his claws too deeply in London already. Trying to assassinate him now (and his allies) would only fuck them up later on if they don’t have a fallout plan in place.
The Frye twins don’t have a fallout plan in place but that’s really not all that important to the restaurant plot, I guess?
Anyway, the restaurant gets the Rooks as regular. If we’re not making Arno or/and Jacob harem members, Jacob flirts with Arno badly and you can spin this as FrenchFrye. If they are harem members, FrenchFrye is also possible and it’s a case of FrenchFrye + Desmond. Go wild.
God, I may be getting too sleepy, I think this block might be more ‘suggestions’ than actual plot points, sorry, nonny
Anyway, Evie’s room opens after Starrick is dealt with. (and she might have an extra bottle for a special someone, hhhmmm?) Jacob believes he’s not been ‘chosen’ but that’s fine with him.
They might have time-hop somewhere else for a while then returned to London (100,000) in 1888 (201,512,150,000) where they learn that Jacob is missing.
Desmond takes Evie’s place since she’s stuck in the pocket dimension and Jack the Ripper DLC happens. At the end, Jacob’s room opens and he joins the restaurant.
Mandatory ‘employees’: Arno, Evie, Jacob
Possible mandatory ‘employees’: Shay, Haytham, Jayadeep (for Evie)
Potential optional ‘employees’: Anne Bonny and Mary Read - 1721 (201,310,290,000), Adéwalé - 1758 (201,402,180,000), Élise de la Serre - 1794 (201,411,110,000), Lydia Frye - 1919 (201,510,230,000)
Modern Day Era and Other Unorganized Notes (Honestly I just cut the notes up because blocks have a character limit and an entire list is considered 1 block)
If you think the whole ‘can’t leave’ part is too much, it’s a lie. There’s an item in the shopping app that does let them ‘leave’ in the sense that they will have the same limitation as Desmond does. It’s a tacky-looking bracelet called “Break Time Pass” that can be purchased for “99,999,999,999,999” points. It’s one of the most expensive items in the app, it does not appear if searched or if they use the ‘highest price first’ sort in the ‘all items’ page, its ‘store’ can only be found by going thru a lot of pages and it will never go on sale BUT it can be purchased as many times as they want and anyone can use it.
I know there are too many people for a restaurant but… you know… shifts and stuff.
Potential optional ‘employees’: Basim Ibn Ishaq - 2024 (20,231,012,000,000), Shaun Hastings and Rebecca Crane - 2025 (20,091,117,000,000), Lucy Stillman - 2012 (20,071,117,000,000), Lucas Clarkson (possibly also Darcy) - 2029 (20,201,029,000,000) (Possible timeline anomaly, Minerva believes that this year is an offshoot of some kind and not the main timeline that they came from)

masterposting lost reactions even though exactly 1 of my mutuals has seen it because ive spent today binging season 5
every scene with richard in it is the funniest scene
the ep where locke goes around failing and then everyone and their mom points out that he's just lonely/delusional and then he tries to kill himself is 😶. literally so mean of them to give the believer a cruel death and the skeptic an unshakeable destiny
im glad they redeemed ben in the end, if they hadn't i don't think it would be lost. but i do enjoy it when he gets the shit beat out of him. watching him get played like a fiddle by MiB not so much
young!danielle is gorgeous
this is my first rewatch and it's so crazy how different the experience is when you Know things. especially all the shit with the temple and fake!locke. everything has a hidden meaning etc. but especially MiB impersonating alex to threaten ben was so funny. like watch 1 i was 😮 what's going on here??? and watch 2 is smokey throwing all subtlety out the window
kate is much less annoying in the late series to the point where im actually enjoying her arc quite a bit? the coming back for claire thing is such a solid motivation now that she's moved on from the love triangle bullshit
the throwaway "it's not a monster it's a security system for the temple" line had me 👀 especially after having seen the directors commentary for across the sea
penny and desmond having their first reunion in "the constant" and their second reunion in "the variable"... it's like poetry it rhymes etc.
the way they go out of their way to include everyone's individual reaction to richard not aging really does it for me
one thing this show does right is Masterful use of episode titles. top of the list this season is "he's our you" but top of all time remains "all the best cowboys have daddy issues"
ill be real i didn't catch the bit where jacob made the others learn latin until now. also does his name mean his mother was jewish or is it just anglicized?
richard should have clocked locke immediately. I-M-M-E-D-I-A-T-E-L-Y. huge L for him
the MiB and the dwarf in the flask from fma are the same character
the god-wont-intervene-but-the-devil-will thing they've got going on is actually so weighted and interesting especially combined with the very pointed compilation of jacob going around touching all the candidates. it really is all about the lighthouse scene
jacob spending his time weaving is something that can be so personal
the scene where the backgammon-bros sit on the beach looking at the black rock is a tv recreation of the beginning of the book of job
i don't think women can be blorbos so i guess richard is the closest thing i've got
I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT "what about you?" OH MY GOD
s5 is definitely the best one. perfect mix of nonsense + interesting flashbacks + lore + no charlie (hate that guy)

Time for William’s conversations -- and he has five of them. Wordy motherfucker. As per usual, you can go here to listen to the voice inflections, though not many of them stood out to me for this set of convos.
Will: Son?  Will: I ... I owe you an apology. I shouldn’t have lashed out like that. You have to understand I’ve never been very good at this. Nevermind that we live rather... extraordinary lives.  Desmond: Yeah... I kinda liked my ordinary one.  Will: You can’t escape who you are, Desmond.  Desmond: So I’ve noticed.  Will: Look... It’s silly for us to go back and forth like this. I admit, I did a shitty job raising you. I apologize. I’m sorry. But it’s important you understand that it didn’t come from a bad place. You’re my son. I love you. I guess I was so busy trying to make sure nothing bad happened, I didn’t... consider the consequences.  Will: Truce?
Notice how Desmond doesn’t say a word to all of this. No agreement to a truce, no real word for Will’s justifications other than a few noncommittal snarks. Sighs. As much as Will says he loves Desmond, that doesn’t change the fact that Dez faced abuse at his hands. The way that Will talks just grates at me, trying to frame it as a “let’s make up and move on”, not really with any sort of actual like, real acknowledgement of it, and the way that William phrases brooks no room for argument.
Onto the next convo.
Desmond: I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to ask, but - how’s mom. She’s not...  Will: No, no. Your mother’s fine. We decided it was safer if we split up for this job.  Desmond: Always assuming the worst.  Will: Hmph. For good reason.  Desmond: Can I at least say hi to her?  Will: I’m sorry... It’s too risky. Maybe when we’re done...  Desmond: ... Right. When we’re done.
Please, sir, a crumb of a canon name for Desmond’s mother, last heir to Altair’s bloodline? Please, sir, a crumb of acknowledging that mothers are important figures too to a person’s life, not just fathers?
God who am I kidding, ac3 is just “daddy issues: the game” isn’t it, with both Desmond’s and Ratonhnhake:ton’s mothers thrown under the bus for the sake of father-oriented narratives. Sigh. It’s worth noting that Dez actually sounds pretty resigned on that last line, like he doesn’t quite believe it. Ha ha. Yeah.
Desmond: Have... Have we ever tried to make peace with the Templars?  Will: Throughout our history there have been moments... Several, in fact. But... It’s impossible. There are... existential differences. Insurmountable. If there were to be unity, it wouldn’t be a truce so much as a submission.  Desmond: But knowing what’s about to happen... Wouldn’t it make sense to try and talk to Vidic? Come to an arrangement? Even if it’s only temporary?  Will: We’d all be so busy watching our backs, nothing would get accomplished. [slight chuckle] Imagine that. We’re more productive at war...  Desmond: Well have we ever tried... sending in someone? Doing to them what they did to us with Lucy? Or Cross?  Will: We have. And it’s never worked. We’ve sent people who were either too weak, and found themselves turned - or too strong, and were unable to carry out the charade.  Desmond: I just feel like we all want the same thing.  Will: We use the same words, but that’s all they are... words. In the end it all comes down to freedom. We seek it. They detest it. And so there’s never an end to the fight. Not until one side is completely gone.  Desmond: Is that even possible?  Will: Probably not. Our two groups have existed in one form or another since .. well... forever. But things can be better than they are. And that’s something.
You know, when the person that was inhumanely experimented on advocates for peace with the people that did so, I’m a little more inclined to think he’s got a point than the Mentor of the Brotherhood who just outright refuses.  Honestly I think there’s something to be said for the fact that Desmond is largely an outsider looking in, and he’s able to see that this war is getting them nowhere, especially in the face of everything else. He’s spent his last 9 years living as a civilian, trying his best to get rid of the ideologies of the Assassins, and that leads him to having a lot of interesting perspectives.
Honestly, it’s probably what the Brotherhood needs. They’ve spent so long trying to get the upperhand on Abstergo, or a lot of other things, and they lose sight of what’s important, I think. Like, yeah, you can say that Desmond is being naive, sure, but I just -- it’s like how Ratonhnhake:ton pushed back against Sam for saying he’ll grow out of his own naivety. Like, the game isn’t exactly being subtle with the parallels between Desmond and Ratonhnhake:ton, but man if it doesn’t make me worried.
I know, ultimately, that the modern day plot kinda goes to nowhere (save for maybe the Origins onward), and that there’s not much in the way of change that happens. Also, I know that Ratonhnhake:ton’s efforts for his own people are futile in the long run, resulting in a very similar feeling futileness that these two characters have to grapple with. But like, that’s the rub, isn’t it -- ac3 is more tragedy than anything else, with inevitable failures that can’t be circumvented.
It interests me that Desmond lumps Lucy in with Cross though. Like as not he doesn’t exactly know the whole story there, but still. Makes me think.
Desmond: Did you look for me, dad? When I was gone.  Will: Every day.  Desmond: Come on...  Will: I mean it. Every night I’d look. Searching for you name - or variations of it - hoping you’d slip up. Abstergo only found you first because they had better access. A few more days and it would have been me.  Desmond: Well, I’m here now.  Will: And I’m glad.
Desmond sounds resigned on that last line, damn. Tbh, the vibe I got from this one is that Dez couldn’t really believe that his father actually cared about him. (I mean, I can’t either, but that’s neither here nor there) I do vaguely wonder how long it took for the frantic searching to become just an ingrained habit, how long it took before William would just click through results and never actually hope to find anything, resigned to never knowing the fate of his son.
Dammit I think I just made myself feel for the bastard. [beats with stick] back! Back I say!
Desmond: Do you think Lucy regretted what she was doing?  Will: I used to think I knew her well, but clearly that wasn’t the case. So I really can’t give you an honest answer.  Desmond: She seemed so sincere, though. Like she really wanted to make a difference.  Will: Yes, well when I first met him, I thought the same thing about Cross.  Desmond: It just keeps happening over and over again.  Will: What does?  Desmond: Everything...  Will: Don’t get weird on me, Desmond.  Desmond: No. It’s fine. I’m fine. Don’t worry.  Will: Alright, then. You should think about getting back in the Animus... We’ve got to find that key.
Catch me worrying anyways :D Like, really worrying :D
Groans I just. there’s so many worrying signs in these conversations, and I don’t like where it’s going!! at all!!
If you liked this, or what I do, consider checking out the rest of my ac3 playthrough!  Or my other playthroughs in general!

Welcome Home
Tumblr media
Summary: Everything would be perfect, if he could just get home. Pairing: Henry Cavill x Reader Word Count: 2K Warnings: Miscarriage, HEAVY angst. Please don’t read if these things trigger you in any way. A/N: This is what happens when personal boy issues, wine, and crying Henry gifs collide. I apologize in advance. The song for this one is Lovely - Billie Eilish, Khalid
“And then literally Desmond says, ‘just give him the bloody axe, he’ll do it himself!’”
You laugh at the culmination of Henry’s story, an anecdote involving a very large tree, a very nervous crew member, and a director who put more stock in his lead actor than any of the men hired to actually remove the tree from the shooting location.
“How’s our little one?” Henry asks after a moment, his voice tender and sweet, already a doting father even though you’re only six months along.
“She’s having a little dance party, but I think that’s due to the chocolate chip cookie I ate an hour ago,” you laugh, rubbing the belly that sprang up overnight; It seemed like only last week you still had a flat tummy.
“Well, you tell her daddy can’t wait to come home and give her and mummy so many kisses she’ll lose count.” You can hear the smile in his voice and it warms your heart, cementing Henry as the man you want to grow old with and have many more babies with.
“Mummy misses daddy a lot. When are you coming home, babe?” You ask softly, knowing production had been plagued with delays ranging from weather to a stomach bug that had laid out half the crew and nearly all of the cast. Henry sighs thoughtfully, the sound making it clear that he too is frustrated by the schedule.
“If all goes according to plan from here on out, I should be home next month.” It’s not ideal, especially as your pregnancy draws to a close, but it’s better than nothing.
“I’ll be at Heathrow with bells on, and maybe your mother in tow,” you chuckle, trying to bring levity to a situation you knew was hard on both of you. An affectionate person by nature, you know it’s hard for Henry to be away from those he loves. You miss him more than words can describe and you know that him coming home will be the balm for all the aches, nausea, and trouble sleeping you’ve had since first getting the news.
“I can’t wait to see you, love. Miss you so much. Sleep now, and I’ll text you in the morning. Love you to the moon and back, darling.” Henry’s words bring tears to your eyes, as they always do when you’re apart for an extended duration, but you manage to keep your voice even as you respond in kind, saying your own ‘I love you’s in the nick of time, hearing Henry’s name being called by production just as you finish.
It’ll be a long month, but you know that soon enough, the man who keeps your heart will be back and you’ll be nestled in his arms, where you belong.
            ______________________________________
You wake from a decent sleep when, after rolling over, you feel wetness coat your outer thigh. Thinking you must have been dreaming of the ocean a little too much, you feel around for the bedside light switch and turn it on, rubbing your eyes to ease the switch from the darkness. You’re really not in the mood to deal with having to change the sheets, but what meets your eyes is beyond changing. Bright crimson instantly sets off alarms, and you look down to find that the source is exactly what you were hoping it wouldn’t be.
There’s little time to react as a bolt of pain ricochets through your entire torso, emanating from your womb and immediately making you want to vomit. You manage to reach for the phone and call for an ambulance, but make it clear they may have to break down the door to get to you. For once, you’re grateful that Henry takes Kal with him whenever he goes to shoot, as the dog would hinder more than help as you pull together all your strength to try and stand.
The room spins violently and you manage to grab onto the doorframe before your knees turn to jello. Taking several deep breaths, you wait for the wave of nausea to pass before dragging yourself to the staircase. Crumpling at the top of the stairs, you breathe slowly before moving down like a child pretending to be on a slide. You’re out of breath from pain by the time you get to the bottom and it takes the last of your energy to reach up and unlock the front door. Cell phone gripped tightly in hand, you do your best to stay awake, hearing the sirens in the distance.
Though you have no memory of arriving at the hospital, one directive repeats in your head like a marching order, and you make sure to tell every doctor or nurse that comes into your triage room that under no circumstances do you want anyone to be contacted, especially the father of your baby or his family. The staff at the Royal find the request odd, but because you’re awake and alert, they have no choice but to heed your wishes. With your own family an ocean away, your request leaves you no choice but to go through the ordeal alone. All the better, you think, guilt already forming as the doctor breaks the bad news.
Your world is overturned in a matter of hours. They put you on Oxytocin, and pain the likes of which you wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy is your sole companion for the next several hours as you’re induced for a birth you’ll never be able to celebrate. When all is said and done, the nurses ask if you want to hold your baby, and against your better judgment, you say yes.
Seeing her perfect, peaceful face breaks you.
          ______________________________________
A month and a half to the date of the phone call, Henry arrives at Heathrow to find, much to his confusion, only his mother waiting for him. He greets her warmly, but his eyes scan the arrival area, hoping that you’d maybe just run off to use the restroom. When he finds no indication of your presence, his attention turns back to his mother.
“Where is she, mum?” He asks, unable to piece together why you aren’t there, in his arms, where you promised you would be. Henry’s mother looks anywhere but at her son, unable to find a way to explain that everything he knew and was expecting had irrevocably changed.
“She couldn’t make it on account of the...I’ll take you to her, son.”
Henry tries not to let his imagination run wild as his mother drives north, past the home he shares with you. When the car crosses into Mayfair, Henry begins to panic. “Mum…” His tone is low, distrusting, frightened. His mother’s hand is clammy as it finds his, squeezing in a way that’s meant to be supportive, but only fuels his anxiety.
He begins to visibly tremble when the engine cuts off in front of Nightingale Hospital. “Please tell me what’s going on. Why are we here? What happened? Mum, please.” His whispered appeal breaks his mother’s heart and she cups his face, willing herself not to shed tears yet again, for her son’s sake.
“I’m sorry, Henry, love. I’m so sorry, my darling.” The explanation sticks in her throat, allowing only platitudes to escape and leaving Henry with no choice but to fly from the car and into the private hospital.
The receptionist looks shocked when she recognizes him and forgets her job for a moment when he asks for your room number. “The last name is Cavill. Please, hurry. I need to see her.” When it’s explained that patients aren’t generally allowed visitors, Henry nearly begins foaming at the mouth, feeling as though he’s losing his own mind. He asks to speak to the doctor in charge, and before long is ushered into an office and poured a cup of tea, the banal formality only serving to anger him more.
“Why is my wife in this godforsaken place?” He barks at the doctor the moment the door is closed, wanting answers and wanting them immediately. The doctor takes a seat, his expression sympathetic.
“Mr. Cavill, I apologize that we weren’t able to reach you, but your wife, before taking a turn for the worse, made it explicitly clear that we were not to contact you. At this time, given that she can no longer make those sorts of decisions, her instructions fall back to you as her power of attorney.” The doctor takes a deep breath, knowing that what he’s about to say will break the man in front of him.
“Your wife had a late-term miscarriage about a month and a half ago. It was exceedingly traumatic for her, especially as the common procedure for dealing with these sorts of things is to induce and force labor. Your wife went through all of that trauma alone, by her own choice, as she was repeatedly asked if you were to be contacted. It took several hours for her to deliver your child, and holding the baby afterward put her in a severe downward spiral in terms of her mental health. She’s been residing with us since her delivery and I’m sorry to say, but as of late, she’s been in a catatonic state, giving us minimal responses. At this stage, we’re simply providing palliative care to your wife. Unfortunately, many in her condition never recover, so we do our best to keep her comfortable, healthy, and calm.”
Henry keeps his mouth pressed firmly closed in order not to scream. Blowing air through his nose, he forces himself to bite his tongue until it bleeds, chest heaving as he fights for control. If he can’t keep it together, he can’t see you and that’s all that matters to him at this point.
“May I see my wife? I’ve been overseas for the last six months, shooting a film. I w-was expecting her at the airport.” His voice sounds wrong to him, pinched and tinny. He knows he has tears in his eyes as the doctor is blurry, but he refuses to let them fall, his need to be strong for you taking over any allowance for grieving.
“I’ve been told she’s not having a good day today, so if she refuses to look at you, to let you touch her, to make any form of response, please do not think it your doing. It’s the nature of her condition,” the doctor warns as he approaches your room.
It’s all Henry can do not to break down right there and then, the heels of his palms pressing hard into his eyes, teeth clenched as he tries to remember how to breathe. The woman in the bed, staring passively through him isn’t the woman he loves, the one he would die for. That woman is gone, replaced with a cheap, emotionless facsimile that breaks him even more. Resting his hands on his knees, he tries to catch his breath, wishing he’d come home sooner.
            ______________________________________
By the time he’s back in his mother’s car, Henry’s numb to everything but the pain searing through his chest, “Take me home, mum. Please,” he murmurs, Henry’s head lolling onto the window for the duration of the drive back to your former home. He refuses to allow his mother in the house, pleading with her to go home and wait for his call.  She takes Kal with her, knowing her son well enough to understand that he needs to grieve in his own way.
Henry’s not ready for the blood, having assumed that someone would have cleaned it up by now, but the Hansel and Gretel trail is hard to miss and with leaden steps, he moves upstairs.
Left in the exact condition it was last used in, the room you two shared leaves no question of what happened and what you went through, alone. His knees give out as he takes in the sheer quantity of blood on the bed, Henry guilt-ridden that he wasn’t there for you when you needed him most.
Finally freed of any need to save face or be strong for others, Henry screams from the depths of his shattered soul, the sound unbroken until anguish consumes his voice and tears flood his face. Finding his feet, Henry staggers to the bed and curls up around the remnants of his previous life, wailing over the permanent reminder of what almost was.

Some quick things that are striking me rewatching Lost (for the 5th time but it's been a while):
Ben Linus isn't as mean as i remember. And he was actually right for a lot of stuff. And all the book reading, culture references, etc. make him.. sexy. Also he just gets better and better as a character through the seasons, that's amazing.
Desmond isn't present a lot through the series, but much more at the end, that's kinda weird
John is at his best on season 1 on the island. He is so kind with everyone
When i think of Eloise now i am more sad for her than angry. Daniel deserved better tho, he was a true sweetheart
Charlotte is so fcking annoying. I can't.
Richard doesn't know what the heck he is doing (also i love him, but he seem kinda dumb)
Jack is more deep than i remembered and i like that
They really tried to make us buy Sawyer/Juliet in half a season. And it worked.
Everyone has daddy issues
Danielle deserved better. I feel so sad for her, my heart is breaking when i see her face
In LA X when Juliet wanted to say that 'it worked' is probably part of why some people didn't understand the ending of the series
(I'm starting season 6 so stay tuned for more obvious but personal observations/opinion)
