Controversial to what everyone may believe, being the head of the clan meant lots of responsibility on its own, and Senju Hashirama was no exception to this.

Hailing from the Senju clan, Hashirama was known to be the defiant one amongst the four siblings, but that defiance didn't come just from numerous battles and deaths of comrades. No

In fact, him being the heir of Senju Butsuma played a big role in his upbringing as the Senju Hashirama many knew now. The kind-hearted, good-natured, aloof man.

But that wasn't the case for little Hashirama.

As the clan heir and the wielder of wood style, he was burdened with a responsibility horrific beyond his age.

Torture.

Butsuma, being the amazing father he was, always subjected him to things he despised, his way of giving the boy discipline, and torture was no exception. You see, the Senju were not as innocent as they portrayed themselves to be, in fact, they were just as bad as the Uchiha clan, if not worse in their treatment of captives during Hashirama's grandfather's and Butsuma's reign.

The system was simple: Only the main branch family and the head of the clan were allowed to subject such "Just" tortures amongst their war captives.

The tortures, as Hashirama recalled, the horrific images engraved into his mind, were brutal and inhumane. Butsuma forced him to participate in these very sessions at a fairly young age, threatening that he would teach Tobirama, Kawarama, and Itama.

Not wanting to see his brothers go through such traumatic experiences, already being sent off to the war as soon as they learned how to pick up a kunai, he could not bear to see his little brothers doing something so inhuman as this.

It was brutal, beyond the realms of traumatizing for the eldest Senju, to watch as the victim writhed and screamed in pain, begging mercy- the mercy being killed. - Watching as life slowly fled their eyes, their fingers, severed, arms broken, and sometimes, their organs spilled from the cavity of their bodies, being kept alive for days to weeks end with some form of special jutsu, that prevented them from dying. Various torture tools were being used on these victims along with the brutal executions that followed: Bolting them to death, Crucifixion, Sawing, very painful nail removal from the fingers. If the victims were Uchiha, they would torture them by burning their eyelids, pushing needles under the soft tissues of the eyes, hammering nails into their eyes,etc. He hated hearing as they begged to see their families one last time. The worst part wasn't just watching, it was participating.

He felt every single hit and crack through his bones, every vibration as he sawed away at the limbs, every scream engraved into his mind.

It hurt, it hurt him so badly, scarred him mentally, but he kept reminding himself, "This is for my brothers, so they don't have to share this burden or be beaten near death by father." Yes.

When he found out Kawarama and Itama, were killed off by the hands of the Uchiha, he became a mess before his pain turned to rage, the rage he took out on those very Uchiha that had killed his brother, having no regard if it was really the hands of the person that murdered his brothers or not, no.

He simply wanted them gone. But being a soft-hearted person by nature, guilt caught up to him. He realized what he had done, possibly innocent blood he had spilled in his angry turmoil. The bodies were either fed to the pigs, and dogs, or mostly, they would be sealed inside trees Hashirama was told to make. The very trees that stood tall in the village of Konoha.

Even with his defiant nature, he would get beaten to submission even as he grew older, but could he really resist? This was his father, the one person he was terrified of!

This lasted for the longest time until Butsuma and the older generation died.

He was finally free of the burden, finally- he could reform the clan's ways, and perhaps, one day, his sins would be forgiven. He hoped they would...

That day he had truly smiled. This would be the beginning of a new era, he would make a difference, with Madara and his Otouto by his side.

Sometimes, he would visit the trees and pray for the souls and pray for their forgiveness.

Being Their Friend Headcanons:

• you don't like someone? collectively, the guys don't like them either (even though they never met them, they all have beef with your 80 year old aunt susan)

• if you're a girl and you got your period while you're with them, expect mild panicking from raph and/or mikey cause how are you not dying??? (once it's explained, expect princess treatment)

• game night and movie nights on the weekends. monopoly is banned

• head pats and hair ruffles all. the. time.

• if you're short (under 5'5) expect to be the designated forearm rest

• if you wear makeup, expect lots of questions, like how does the eyelash device not pinch your eye?? and why can you remove your eyelashes???

• sleepovers are a thing and it will be a huge fight on who's bed you're gonna sleep in (spoiler: you always end up on the couch with mikey clonked out on the recliner)

• leo tries his best not to parent you, but does it unintentionally. you're comfortable enough to call him out and he appreciates it. you end up parenting the guys together...a lot.

• mikey is your go to fun and cuddle buddy. it's not uncommon for you two to be seen playing video games or curled up watching some cartoon on the couch

• donnie and you bond over tv shows and you tend to gossip with him quite a bit. his sleep schedule is all messed up, so if you want to cause trouble at 2 am, he's definitely your guy

• raph is the brother you never wanted but always needed. very loyal but he can and will call you out on your bs. playful banter and stupid nicknames are strong.

• lord help you if you're sick/hurt and you say nothing. they will r i o t

• you cook for them (or bake...or bring them snacks if you do neither) all the time

• leo likes to have tea with you in the morning when you sleep over cause you're not a morning person so you keep quiet

• raph can and will bench press you randomly. you're reading? not anymore, you're now being used as a weight

• you want to find out if the girl who bullied you in elementary school is pregnant with her step dad's baby? donnie's on it

• you need a hug or someone to let you vent? mikey will get all the snacks and drinks galore, he's all yours until you feel better

• you make them watch the eras tour movie and you were shocked to know they all knew the words???

• splinter just kind of adopted you and you're now his child. congrats! you don't have to do the hashi, but instead have to do the guys' laundry when you act up

• they kiss your head all the time

• annoying little shits when you're mad..they'll tighten all the jars so you have no choice but to talk to them..or put everything on the top shelf

• you're a girl? congrats! the guys are now all hardcore feminists for you and april both

What if Hashirama's theatrical depression fits are actually a mechanism that he learned in order to be able to express his sadness at all? Like, being down in a "serious" way could give him a beating from Butsuma because "it's shameful for a ninja to cry" and this kind of BS. So Hashi rather than repress these feelings began to crank up their expression to 300% and make an absolute show of himself every time he felt bad. This way, Butsuma could now say "my son is f*cking stupid" but it didn't carry as much condemnation as "my son is weak".

Helloooo its been so long, I know! But I kept editing these, here you go

- they honestly help balance each other: mitos temper is lessened and her patience strengthened , meanwhile hashi has less mental breakdowns and learns to carry himself with more pride

- he's esp prideful when he has his beautiful wife next to himself

- really, hashirama seems changed after marrying mito, and though at first the thought of an arranged marriage seemed to depress him, he quickly adapted to it and accepted it as a task for the village

-this ofc was before he saw mito firsthand and noticed how dignified she acted + how sharp her tongue was, when needed

-tobirama, who at first pushed for the alliance, was worried once he got to know mito outside of her reputation as a great kunoichi, beautiful woman, and someone blessed with good character. This man just can't choose whats good for his brother

- but hashis an adult with his own head and the traits that made tobi doubtful just strengthened his resolve to marry mito. He's a simp for dominant women, though he likes to play the dominant part sometimes

-after marrying, mito is pregnant pretty quickly, even though they said they wanted to wait for a bit, because they just weren't able to keep their hands off of each other

-madara is also annoyed with how lovey dovey hashi is about his wife, the constant praise and always bringing her up is shredding up the uchihas nerves

-after half a year the praise lessens though, and madara and tobi think its finally over, just for hashis kid to be born

-though the two men, as unlikely as they are (madara and tobi), they both think hashiramas and mitos child is very cute indeed and deserving of the praise

-they couldn't blame hashis constant praise when he got married and now they cant because of his firstborn. End of the story is that hashi cant shut up. We still love him though

Extra hc: both hashi and mito have a bet going about who can grow out their hair the longest. Mito is currently in the leading,even if its not visible bc she always ties up her hair

You weren't at school today and your boyfriend, Chifuyu, did not like that. It meant you were probably sick and it didn't help at all that you didn't answer texts or calls.

He spent the whole day at school worried sick about you. When the final bell rang, he dashed to your house, normally your parents would be working, he was turning between hoping they were home and hoping they were not - if they were you being taken care of. If not, then Chifuyu could spend some time with you.

When he got to your house and knocked on the door, all he heard was silence. After a few minutes he knocked again while calling out for you.

Upon hearing your name in such a familiar voice, you slowly made your way to the door from your bedroom.

You were wearing your school's uniform.

But until you got there, Chifuyu's voice got more and more worried.

When you opened the door you saw a mix of relief and worry on Chifuyu's face. He hugged you tightly, so tightly you felt tears bubbling up in your eyes.

Chifuyu felt you shaking slightly and was quick to grab you by the shoulder and ask if everything was OK. You answered by bursting into tears.

The poor boy didn't quite know what to do, so he guided inside your home, sat you on the couch and asked if your parents - or someone - was home with you.

You shook your head. Chifuyu went to grab a glass of water and after placing it on the table, he held you tightly again and he asked you if someone hurted you - the boy was willing to fight anything and everyone for you.

You didn't quite reply and he wasn't understanding very well what you were saying, so he decided to wait for you to calm down.

As soon as you started to calm down for a bit he gave you the glass of water and asked again what was wrong, while removing the hair that got stuck on your face.

You mumbled you were just… sad. Upon hearing that answer he understood what was wrong. Chifuyu asked if you ate something and why you were wearing your uniform and yet, didn't go to school.

You explained you pretend to go to school so your parents wouldn't worry, but you lacked the energy to do anything else, including eating.

As soon as you were done with this answer you turned into a little ball on the other end of the couch.

Chifuyu got up saying he was going to find something for you to eat. Your protests weren't enough to keep him from searching for some food.

Eventually he found an instant Ramen, it wasn't the ideal meal, but hey, it's food. He started preparing it.

While he was at it, you hugged a pillow and stared at the dark screen of the TV - it was turned off.

When Chifuyu is done with the Ramen he is only holding one hashi. You were slightly confused by that, but soon you understood why just one - he offered to feed you.

His face was tint with red, an adorable view! It was so cliche of him, like he took this out of one of his romance Mangas.

He asked you to sit right and tried to feed you the ramen, but that didn't quite work out - you two ended up making a mess, he gave you too much food at once.

Was there a big mess? Yes. Was he frustrated that he failed on his shoujo out scene? Yes. But that didn't matter.

It didn't matter because you started giggling at that mess and it was the best thing he heard all day.

You finished eating on your own, but Chifuyu offered to cuddle you while you were at it. So you leaned your back on his chest.

He got terribly shy and red faced, but happy nonetheless. He also made you drink some more water after eating and of course, he cleaned the mess and washed the dishes.

With everything set and clean, it was getting a bit late - toman meeting was coming up and your parents would come back soon.

He was worried about leaving you alone until then. You knew he had a meeting, so you reassured him you would be fine.

Chifuyu didn't quite trust that 100%, but you promised to answer his call when he got home and to message him when your parents got home.

The boy sighed. He made you pink swear what you promised, which made you giggle again.

Chifuyu, then, left your house with a tight heart. He knew you weren't fully ok, but it was frustrating he couldn't punch your sadness away.

You did as promised, messaged him when your parents got home and answered his call.

You had a tired voice, as expected, but at least you answered. You didn't talk much either, but Chifuyu said he would walk you to school.

So the next day he was standing near your home. When you walked out, he smiled brightly at you, which made your heart do a little happy dance.

As you mumbled a " good morning" Chifuyu stared at you. You raised an eyebrow at him and to your surprise he asked if he could brush your hair.

You flinched for a moment before nodding. Surprisingly, Chifuyu had a comb on his bag and he proceeded to comb your hair for you.

Was it awkward ? Yes. You were in the middle of the street. But you were thankful for him for doing that for you, he even tied your hair in a ponytail!

When he was done, he finally grabbed your hand to walk to school. You were a bit late, but that's fine.

Chifuyu paid extra attention to you at school - made sure you were fine during classes and during lunch time, he sat next to you and tried to feed you again.

Which you giggle and said you could do it yourself. He was a bit bummed out, but happy you could giggle again.

By the end of the day you smiled at Chifuyu, a small shy smile, but it was there.

The boy got so happy to see you smiling again that he almost tripped.

And you? You were glad to have such a sweet boyfriend. You were truly thankful for his patience with you.

AU Talks 2! Clan Secrets-verse!

Senju Clan!

First let me put here a link which had inspired a lot of Senju Clan related happenings in Clan Secrets-verse. It is a great story and I totally recommend to read it.

So first things first, what does a gone and dead clan has to do here, cause until now I have only told you about the political marriage of Hashi/Mito. Well, it's cause the whole story orbit's around that clan or rather the Senju, the Uzumaki and the Uchiha. All of them. That's why this universe is called The Clan Secrets. It's because here we literally have like tons of those. Think Uchiha Massacre drama and all behind it but extended to Senju and Uzumaki.

So let's get started:

The Senju are not extinct. Sure publicly, only Tsunade goes around with the name but it's done deliberately

So here, the Senju had been suffering being wiped out by an unknown force (Zetsu) during Second War, and they realised that they can't stand against such force when they don't know who's behind it

So they go underground.

Some fake their deaths, some quietly leave and marry into civilian families, some just disappeared and we're assumed dead while they lived out their lives outside of the village (you can see that's a lot like the work I added at the beginning)

But! They don't forget that they are Senju

That's just a name, the clan can live on without it, underground, resting in waiting for opportunity to strike back

The parents tell their children who they really are, about their heritage, about the culture and everything

They have secret meetings at the old compound, with seals of security around them

They meet up twice a year to catch up and the proceed to act like strangers on the streets

Around 80% of 'civilian' academy students are secretly Senju

They have a whole community underground

My inspiration for that is Polish Underground State (I think that's what it translates to in English) during World War Two, look it up

They have a council who takes care of them when their only Main Family members are either out of the village (Tsunade and a female OC who will be discussed at a later date), are a toddler (Naruto, and for those who read that fic up at the start, no Minato isn't Tobirama's son, and Hashirin isn't a Kekkei Genkai nor can it travel in time (at least at the moment)) or a depressed teenager who doesn't evsn know about his heritage (Kakashi, will be explained at a later date)

I am trying to see your pov. I am wondering what makes rping with a Hashmah preferable over writing ffics about the kids and H. What added value can a Hashi rper bring? Help me understand what you seek externally, that you cannot give to yourself using fics. I am genuinely trying to understand your wish here. Hoping I dont sound demanding. 😆😅

I have played with several Hashirama roleplayers in the past, and each one has brought a unique spin on his character to the table and had a different take on what kind of father they imagine he'd be and he would have responded to the scenarios on my OC's backstories. 

Sure I have my general headcanons for him just like I have ones for Mito and Tobirama, but I am always willing to try and work with my partner's portrayal and see how I can adapt or what compromises can be made.  So he can be he's absent and neglectful, doting and loving and ever affectionate, depressed and distant, trying his best to juggle everything in his life, or manipulative and controlling, or a bit of everything or something completely different!  I welcome them all and the possibilities that comes with different portrayals!

And sure I could write fics by myself for myself, and I do so often to just brainstorm and practice writing…but I just don't think it's as fun and it's not the same as roleplaying.

Roleplay is overall collaborative, at least in the form that I like to engage in, and though I have heard of people writing fics together I feel like it's not quite the same. 

I enjoy the process of building a relationship and background between two muses that probably will be nothing like how I'd ever be able to imagine it in my own head if this particular roleplayer with their portrayal of Hashirama (or any other character) didn't exist and was a part of it. I love being surprised by what my partner will do in their next reply, and try to surprise them with what I'll do in mine. I love to see what headcanons they'll bring to flesh out their character and what headcanons we can think of together for the dynamic and relationship between our muses, which will be uniquely ours.

And I get to interact with a bunch of really talented writers and wonderful people in the process. Being creative and playing with fictional characters in the sandbox and coming up with a story together, sometimes with a plan, and sometimes on the fly!

I have nothing against writing fics featuring my kids and Hashirama, as mentioned I do that pretty regularly. 

But it's seeing what will come out of interactions between my kids and a portrayal of Hashirama that may be very different from what I have in my own head that makes me really enjoy seeing people roleplay him and why I wish there were still active accounts for him.

zo is Hashirama's speaking habit (alot). To me it's endearing, a part of his character, so I'm going to leave it out. Not sure how to translate\explain, it kind of gives a old fashioned feeling.

Tobirama's anija is old fashioned, what samurai families used, kind of "sophisticated". I guess "elder brother"? The Senju family talks more like the traditional samurai family in the flashback, while the Uchiha are normal. But during the warring states era, most clans should talk like the senju, and so the Uchiha would be strange for not doing so.

📂 gotta get your madara takes

he doesn't use labels, but madara's got no fucken gender. he's like that meme where you ask the villain what's in their pants and they're like "doom"

I like to think that after izuna dies, madara talks to him a lot while he's doing everyday things. He'll ask izuna what he should have for breakfast or if it's time to dust around the house. He says goodnight and good morning to izuna, tells him about hashi, basically just airs out his thoughts and feels better knowing that izuna is informed. He doesn't intend to do this where anyone can hear, but hashirama knows about it

madara and hashirama's friendship is autistic solidarity

During the time madara sits in the cave hooked up to the gedo statue, the time he spends sleeping, he's actually spending time in the smaller version of the infinite tsukuyomi genjutsu he showed obito (I'm writing a fic about this)

hashirama comes over to madara's house often to tend to his neglected plants. he thinks madara is bad at taking care of them, but really madara leaves them unwatered so hashirama will continue to visit, and he enjoys hearing hashirama's advice for keeping each of the different plants happy

madara doesn't feel a strong attachment to his clan lineage unlike most of the other members of the uchiha

he and mito were friends and they talked about hashirama ALL the time

hashirama and madara both have never cut their hair because they have a long-standing bet over whose can grow the longest

madara's totally got imposter syndrome and profound self esteem issues (i could write a fucking essay on this. ANYONE can fight me)

while he was staying in the leaf village, madara kept things with tobirama civil despite his deep resentment toward him for killing izuna. to respect hashirama was to respect his family, and he believed that if the roles were reveresed, hashirama would have honored izuna

hashirama and madara wrestle all the fucking time for fun and tobirama gets pissed because they're like "it's fine it's fine we're just playing" but then someone gets thrown through a wall. mito's always chasing them outside like "not on my fucking scrolls get out in the grass you crazy bastards"

madara's real laugh is obnoxious. he snorts and wheezes and carries on, but only hashirama can get him to laugh that way

no one knows it (cuz he's fucking gay), but madara is a total bitch for cliche romantic gestures. flowers? hand holding? old-timey slowdancing? it's hashi's fault. he's stupid and madara loves it. on a related note, madara's super power is being able to take any romantic gesture and perform the mental acrobatics necessary to explain it in a platonic context. this works for them because hashirama just thinks madara isn't ready to talk about their relationship out loud. But in reality hashirama is like "I love you" (I love him romantically) and madara is like "I love you too" (wow he is such a good friend, I better not ever let him know I'm gay for him I don't wanna ruin this). they're both idiots is what I'm saying

he engages in old man activities and does old man things when he's not out on missions. he reads quietly and sits in the sun, takes naps in the middle of the day, bird watches, goes for walks. my god he's depressed just let him be exhausted

he totally babysat tsunade and he did SUCH a good job. more responsible caregiver than hashirama could EVER be

Madara is the most patient human being on this entire goddamn planet. see had hashirama as a life long companion, did not kill tobirama who is a prick besides being the object of madara's undying hatred, actually tried to live in the leaf village despite the obvious discrimination, had zetsu as henchman for over a decade, did not bitch obito out Even Once, etc etc

I got an idea but i'm gonna make it quick cause currently brewing a potion of Fuck You for me to drink come tomorrow morning to start pushing out new chapter of FUBAR's next arc

Madatobi, slowburn, Modern!AU, Highschool!AU, i'm about to fuck your shit up if you are, were, or becoming an angry teenager

Story is all told in Mada's POV (maybe with little breaks of Tobirama) and he in his family live in the perfect picket fence household and Mada is a straight-A student, over stressed student body president, really gives off the dad-friend vibe cause he's also a nerd but don't think he's weak for thinking that hanging out with the Naruto-weeb kids during lunch is cool cause he's not afraid to throw hands. On the other hand Hashi, his best friend, his captain of the football team and all about school pride and their childhood friendship is a match made in heaven They promised to be each other's best man at the weddings, probably get stuck in the same nursing home together, that type of childhood best friend.

Except Mada knows that Hashi's homelife isn't that good.

He knows nothing explicit cause his friends keeps him fairly distracted and over the years Mada stopped questioning why he's never invited over at the Senju's house and other subtle signs that shit ain't right.

Another thing to ignore is Tobirama.

Hashirama's younger brother by only a year, a junior in highschool to Mada's senior. The pale senju is one of those feral punk teens that have safetypins pierced up and down his ears, EYELINER, blackpainted fingernails and an attitude like a cactus on fire and emitting poisonous fumes. Really caustic personality, gets in trouble ALOT by the school and Hashi has let it slip once or twice that he's not afraid to act mean at home either. Kinda a depressing kid really, like a shadow no one wants to acknowledge.

Until Madara gets into a situation.

idk for what, all i know is that he needs outside 'illegal' help in order to get out and who is the most 'criminal' person within his reach? Tobirama. So he goes to Tobirama asking for help and after hearing the story Tobirama helps.

The thing is though Madara thought the whole interaction was going to be worse than it was...but...it turns out Tobirama is funny? Really dry, sarcastic, morbid humor and it catches Mada completely off guard and turns out afterwards he realizes...he actually kinda enjoyed hanging out with the emo kid.

So let's have an arc of the usual Highschool!AU tropes where the straight-A student is trying to help the emo kid. the usual "I can fix him!" attitude mixed with the "he's not really that bad" and the "I didn't know you were THIS smart."

Except everytime it's brought up Hashi makes a face like he sucked a sour lemon. tries to kindly warn off Mada like his own brother is a ticking time bomb.

Why?

Stop the musical number, change the lighting and filters and let's take a look at the Senju homelife.

Dad's a cop.

A mom ain't afraid to lash out.

Oh, they'd never hurt their kids or each other cause they're a 'perfect' family (despite having their embarressing second son) but that doesn't mean Daddy don't drink till he passes out and screams at Mom about anything and everything. And Mommy is so nice and smiley until she's hurt and then she lashes out with her tongue in anger, fear, and pain before crying her eyes out like she's the victim.

Tobirama. fucking. hates. being at home.

But he's got two little brothers, Kawa and Ita in Middle and Elementary school, that only has him going up to bat when Daddy turns to yell at his kids so Tobirama stands in the line of fire and shouts back. And when Mommy tries to play both the victim and aggressor card Tobirama still stands and doesn't let her focus on his brothers.

In this; Tobirama is turning out just like their dad. And that's why Hashi can't help but fear and resent his younger brother. But at the same time Hashi is just like their mom, willing to smile and gloss over the abuse, lashing out when something doesn't go their way, and playing the victim card to get out of trouble.

And Madara is stepping a little too close to the landmine for comfort.

It's gonna blow up on him.
